WAYS TO DETERMINE THE NEED FOR DELIVERANCE Discernment and Detection The presence and nature of evil spirits can be known by two principle methods: 1. Discernment: (I Coronth 12-vs-10) lists discerning of spirits as one of the nine supernatural gifts of THE HOLY SPIRIT. 2. Detection: the second method of knowing the presence and nature of evil spirits. Detection is simply observing what spirits are doing to a person (Mark 7-vs-4-30). Common Symptoms Some of the most common symptoms of indwelling demons are as follows: 1. Disturbances in the emotions which persist or recur. 2. Disturbances in the mind or thought life. 3. Outbursts or uncontrolled use of the tongue. 4. Recurring unclean thoughts and acts regarding sex. 5. Addictions to nicotine, alcohol, drugs, medicines, caffeine, food, etc. 6. Many diseases and physical afflictions are due to spirits of infirmity (Luke 13-vs-11). Religious Error Involvement to any degree in religious error can open the door for demons as follows: 1. False religions, e.g. Eastern religions, pagan religions, philosophies and mind sciences. 2. Christian Cults - all such cults may be classified as bloodless religions having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof (II Tim. 3-vs-5). 3. The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a classification of vices (part ofChristian ethics) that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct Christians concerning fallen humanity's tendency to sin. In the currently recognized version, the sins are usually given as wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. The Catholic Church divides sin into two categories: venial sins, in which guilt is relatively minor, and the more severe mortal sins. Theologically, a mortal or deadly sin is believed to destroy the life of grace and charitywithin a person and thus creates the threat of eternal damnation. "Mortal sin, by attacking the vital principle within us – that is, charity – necessitates a new initiative of God's mercy and a conversion of heart which is normally accomplished [for Catholics] within the setting of the sacrament of reconciliation."[1] According to Catholic moral thought, the seven deadly sins are not discrete from other sins, but are instead the origin ("capital" comes from the Latin caput, head) of the others. "Deadly sins" can be either venial or mortal, depending on the situation, but "are called 'capital' because they engender other sins, other vices". Beginning in the early 14th century, the popularity of the seven deadly sins as a theme among European artists of the time eventually helped to ingrain them in many areas of Catholic culture and Catholic consciousness in general throughout the world. One means of such ingraining was the creation of themnemonic "SALIGIA" based on the first letters in Latin of the seven deadly sins: superbia, avaritia, luxuria, invidia, gula, ira, aced. In the Book of Proverbs 6:16-19, among the verses traditionally associated with King Solomon, it states that the Lord specifically regards "six things the Lord hateth, and seven that are an abomination unto Him", namely: 1.
A proud look
2.
A lying tongue
3. 4.
Hands that shed innocent blood A heart that devises wicked plots
5.
Feet that are swift to run into mischief
6.
A deceitful witness that uttereth lies
7.
Him that soweth discord among brethren
Another list, given this time by the Epistle to the Galatians (Galatians 5:19-21), includes more of the traditional seven sins, although the list is substantially longer: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, "and such like".Since Apostle Paul goes on to say that the persons who practice these sins "shall not inherit the Kingdom of God", they are usually listed as (possible) mortal sins rather thancapital vices.
Lust Lust or lechery (carnal "luxuria") is an intense desire. It is usually thought of as excessive sexual wants; however, the word was originally a general term for desire. Therefore lust could involve the intense desire of money, food, fame, or power as well. In Dante's Purgatorio, the penitent walks within flames to purge himself of lustful/sexual thoughts and feelings. In Dante's Inferno, unforgiven souls of the sin of lust are blown about in restless hurricane-like winds symbolic of their own lack of self-control to their lustful passions in earthly life.
Gluttony
(Albert Anker, 1896) Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony (Latin, gula) is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. In Christian religions, it is considered a sin because of the excessive desire for food, and its withholding from the needy. Because of these scripts, gluttony can be interpreted as selfishness; essentially placing concern with one's own interests above the well-being or interests of others. Medieval church leaders (e.g., Thomas Aquinas) took a more expansive view of gluttony, arguing that it could also include an obsessive anticipation of meals, and the constant eating of delicacies and excessively costly foods. Aquinas went so far as to prepare a list of six ways to commit gluttony, comprising: Praepropere – eating too soon Laute – eating too expensively Nimis – eating too much Ardenter – eating too eagerly Studiose – eating too daintily Forente – eating wildly
Greed
1909 painting The Worship of Mammon by Evelyn De Morgan. Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions. Thomas Aquinas wrote, "Greed is a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things." In Dante's Purgatory, the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly thoughts.Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by Greed. Such misdeeds can include simony, where one attempts to purchase or sell sacraments, including Holy Orders and, therefore, positions of authority in the Church hierarchy. As defined outside of Christian writings, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs, especially with respect to material wealth.
Sloth
Sloth Parable of the Wheat and the Tares by Abraham Bloemaert, Walters Art Museum Sloth (Latin, Socordia) can entail different vices. While sloth is sometimes defined as physical laziness, spiritual laziness is emphasized. Failing to develop spiritually is key to becoming guilty of sloth. In the Christian faith, sloth rejects grace and God. Sloth has also been defined as a failure to do things that one should do. By this definition, evil exists when good men fail to act. Over time, the "acedia" in Pope Gregory's order has come to be closer in meaning to sloth. The focus came to be on the consequences of acedia rather than the cause, and so, by the 17th century, the exact deadly sinreferred to was believed to be the failure to utilize one's talents and gifts.Even in Dante's time there were signs of this change; in his Purgatorio he had portrayed the penance for acedia as running continuously at top speed.
Wrath
Wrath, by Jacob Matham Wrath (Latin, ira), also known as "rage", may be described as inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger. Wrath, in its purest form, presents with self-destructiveness, violence, and hate that may provokefeuds that
can go on for centuries. Wrath may persist long after the person who did another a grievous wrong is dead. Feelings of anger can manifest in different ways, including impatience, revenge, and vigilantism. Wrath is the only sin not necessarily associated with selfishness or self-interest, although one can of course be wrathful for selfish reasons, such as jealousy (closely related to the sin of envy). Dante described vengeance as "love of justice perverted to revenge and spite". In its original form, the sin of anger also encompassed anger pointed internally as well as externally. Thus suicide was deemed as the ultimate, albeit tragic, expression of hatred directed inwardly, a final rejection of God's gifts.
Envy
Envy Arch in the nave with a gothic fresco from 1511 of a man with a dog-head, which symbolizes envy (Dalbyneder Church (da), Denmark) Like greed and lust, Envy (Latin, invidia) is characterized by an insatiable desire. Envy is similar to jealousy in that they both feel discontent towards someone's traits, status, abilities, or rewards. The difference is the envious also desire the entity and covet it. Envy can be directly related to the Ten Commandments, specifically, "Neither shall you desire... anything that belongs to your neighbour." Dante defined this as "a desire to deprive other men of theirs". In Dante's Purgatory, the punishment for the envious is to have their eyes sewn shut with wire because they have gained sinful pleasure from seeing others brought low. Aquinas described envy as "sorrow for another's good".
Pride
Building the Tower of Babel was, for Dante, an example of pride. Painting by Pieter Brueghel the Elder In almost every list, pride (Latin, superbia), or hubris (Greek), is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and the source of the others. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of self (especially holding self out of
proper position toward God). Dante's definition was "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbour". In Jacob Bidermann's medieval miracle play, Cenodoxus, pride is the deadliest of all the sins and leads directly to the damnation of the titulary famed Parisian doctor. In perhaps the best-known example, the story of Lucifer, pride (his desire to compete with God) was what caused his fall from Heaven, and his resultant transformation into Satan. In Dante's Divine Comedy, the penitents were forced to walk with stone slabs bearing down on their backs to induce feelings of humility.
Historical sins Acedia
Acedia mosaic, Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière Acedia (Latin, acedia) (from Greek ακηδία) is the neglect to take care of something that one should do. It is translated to apathetic listlessness; depression without joy. It is related to melancholy: acedia describes the behaviour and melancholy suggests the emotion producing it. In early Christian thought, the lack of joy was regarded as a willful refusal to enjoy the goodness of God and the world God created; by contrast, apathy was considered a refusal to help others in time of need. When Thomas Aquinas described acedia in his interpretation of the list, he described it as an uneasiness of the mind, being a progenitor for lesser sins such as restlessness and instability. Dante refined this definition further, describing acedia as the failure to love God with all one's heart, all one's mind and all one's soul; to him it was the middle sin, the [ ] only one characterised by an absence or insufficiency of love. Some scholars who? have said that the ultimate form of acedia was despair which leads to suicide.
Vainglory
Conversion of the Magdalene' or 'Allegory of Modesty and Vanity by Bernardino Luini, c. 1520 Vainglory (Latin, vanagloria) is unjustified boasting. Pope Gregory viewed it as a form of pride, so he foldedvainglory into pride for his listing of sins. The Latin term gloria roughly means boasting, although its English cognate - glory - has come to have an exclusively positive meaning; historically, vain roughly meant futile, but by the 14th century had come to have the strong narcissistic undertones, of irrelevant accuracy, that it retains today. As a result of these semantic changes, vainglory has become a rarely used word in itself, and is now commonly interpreted as referring tovanity (in its modern narcissistic sense).
In 1589, Peter Binsfeld paired each of the deadly sins with a demon, who tempted people by means of the associated sin. According to Binsfeld's classification of demons, the pairings are as follows: Lucifer: pride (superbia) Mammon: greed (avaritia) Asmodeus: lust (luxuria) Leviathan: envy (invidia) Beelzebub: gluttony (gula or gullia) Amon or Satan: wrath (ira) Belphegor: sloth (acedia) This contrasts slightly with an earlier series of pairings found in the fifteenth century English Lollard tractLanterne of Light, which differs in pairing Beelzebub with Envy, Abadon with Sloth, Belphegor with Gluttony and matching Lucifer with Pride, Satan with Wrath, Asmodeus with Lust and Mammon with Avarice.
Definition:by the spirit of religion we mean that group of evil spirits which inspire loyalty to religious concepts and practices in such a way as to oppose and possibly to counterfeit the true work of the Holy Spirit. Satan knows he cannot stop people from being religious. He therefore seeks to pervert the religious instinct of mankind by deception. All religious deceptions work to draw men away from glorifying and enjoying Christ. Religious spirits work in many different ways, and with many different tactics. We may see through some of their tactics only to be completely fooled by them in another area of our attitudes and thinking. Therefore we must be humble enough to admit that we too, not having fully possessed the mind of Christ as yet, could be deceived in some areas. It should be obvious to Christians that the power that non-Christian religions exercise over the minds of men comes from Satan. Only a supernatural power could drive men to worship rocks or rats. What power is it that keeps people away from worshipping the true God, the Creator and turning their primary affections to false gods and other vain things? It is the spirit which is now at work in the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2). However, religious spirits are at work not only outside the church of Christ, but also within it. The extent to which Christendom has been infiltrated by evil spirits is greater than it will ever be possible to calculate. It extends virtually to every local church and across every denomination to a greater or lesser extent. This fact can be demonstrated logically by considering for a moment the theological disagreements and bad relationships which exist between churches, and also within individual local churches. How can these things be so, when Jesus put so much emphasis on us loving one another (John 13:34, 35), and was so emphatic in his desire for the unity of the church to reflect the unity of the godhead? (See John 17). Obviously the spiritual power behind these problems is religious in nature. The religious spirit will also rear its ugly head when a man or woman full of the mercy of God and the power of the Holy Spirit begins to confront religious people in churches with the truth. At these times demons get stirred up and if possible will provoke all kinds of unreasonable and malicious attacks on such servants of God. In some situations they may even be publicly cast out of those so influenced by them. This ministry is necessary, and in the last days will become more and more common. Jesus Christ had little trouble dealing with demons provoking sickness and disease in people. However, the Lord faced greater opposition from people controlled by religious spirits. These people did not know they had religious spirits. They thought they represented the true religion of God. They did not want to be free of the spirits that made them feel important and more righteous than those around them. Because of their pride and hardness of heart, even the Son of God could not help them to come to the Father. These people were known as the Scribes and Pharisees, the chief priests and experts in the law. It was these people who hated Jesus and conspired to crucify Him. They were motivated by pride, envy and self-righteousness. They refused to humble themselves and believe in the Messiah, despite the many proofs that Jesus gave. This remained true even after they were confronted with the fact of the resurrection. We make a serious mistake if we assume that the spirit which motivated these Jewish religious leaders can in no way influence us. In fact, those who think like that are probably the very ones who are influenced by such spirits. While these religious spirits will obviously not promote exactly the same errors now as they did in those people, there will be similarities of attitude and behaviour which will be clearly seen. This subject is actually a vast one and we need the help of the Spirit of God to be able to get free from the influence of religious spirits. Most people, myself included, will have an ongoing battle with these kinds of spirits. If we are not fighting them, perhaps it is because we are happy to be securely in their grip. The Scripture gives us many clues as to the marks of the activity of religious spirits, especially those religious spirits which are closest to the truth and therefore harder to detect. Characteristics of the Work of Religious Spirits Fear of not being good enough When we think our salvation depends all on us we will be fearful, because the Bible says that we all stumble in many ways. Until we cast ourselves at the mercy of God and truly give ourselves to Him, we go through a cycle of hearing laws, falling short, feeling guilty, trying to measure up, and repeated failure.
People under religious spirits are carrying heavy burdens and do not have the sense of freedom that comes when we know that our sins are washed away. The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and JOY in the Holy Spirit. If you are religious but you have no peace or joy, something is wrong. Condemnation and unrighteous judgment may have stolen it from you. Fear of People If you are asking yourself more often: "What will the people at church think?" than "What will Jesus think?" you are bound by a religious, man-pleasing spirit. We should not offend people unnecessarily, but if we must choose between offending people and offending the Spirit of God, then let people take offense if they must. Many were offended at Jesus. The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be kept safe. (Pr. 29:25). Fear of the Pharisees kept many Jews out of the Kingdom of God. "Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. (John 12:42,43) When you are at church you behave in a certain way, because you are more conscious of people than conscious of God. If you really feared God more than people, you would not watch some of the garbage you watch on television. But remember that God sees all that you do. When will you give up that garbage, confess it to God and get on with serving the Lord from a pure heart? Performance, not grace-based. The religious spirit seeks to have us serve the Lord in order to gain his approval, rather than from having received our approval from the cross of Christ. Doing works to atone for our sense of guilt, rather than trusting the blood of Jesus Some people are driven to do good works to make up for the wrong they have done. This kind of works will never bring us God's acceptance. It is another way of rejecting the sacrifice of Jesus when we say to God, "No, let me pay for it." Emphasis on External Things - food (Hebrews 13:8; 1 Tim 4:1,2) - marriage (fobidding to, or pushing people to marry) - clothes - external appearance (Matthew 23:5; 2 Corinthians 5:12) "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness." (Luke 11:39). Religion can put new clothes on the man, but Christ puts a new man in the clothes. Two extremes: carnality and legalism. Both put too much emphasis on external appearance. False Prophecy We no longer stone to death those whose prophecies do not come to pass, but still we must judge prophecy. Failure to do this has given the religious spirit too much influence in the church. Just because we feel something spiritual does not mean that it was the spirit of God. "Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. TEST ALL THINGS; hold fast to what is good." (1 Thess. 5:1921). "Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge". (1 Corinthians 14:7). Do you letpeople judge what is said? This is a commandment of Scripture. If we make people fear that they are blaspheming the Holy Spirit if they dare to question anything said in church with a "Thus sayeth the Lord" we are not letting people judge the prophecy. If we say "The Lord has spoken" and he has not spoken, we give place to a religious spirit. This can corrupt the church, by putting fear and condemnation into people when instead they need to be built up and strengthened and shown how to overcome sin and the devil. Emphasis on Traditions of the elders "this is the way we've always done it":
"Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?" (Mark 7:5) If limit God to a particular way of doing things in ministry, we may grieve the Holy Spirit and He will not work as He wishes. He may even leave us alone. If the way we do things is not working, perhaps we have not allowed the Holy Spirit to lead us to make the necessary changes. If the way we minister healing does not work, we need to ask how much we are being led by the Spirit, and how much we are stuck in tradition. Emphasis on ritual, special rules and regulations. "And they have many other things which they have received and hold, like the washing of cups, pitchers, copper vessels, and couches" (Mark 7 4:) We don't worry about the same rules, but we look too much at other things. For example, the difference between the clothing of men and women. Jesus did not wear pants. He wore a robe. Appropriate clothing will always be modest, but it depends to some extent on culture. Women should not dress like prostitutes, but neither should men be looking over every woman in church making sure they are not breaking any of "the rules". We should keep our eyes on Jesus. The religious spirit makes outward things like clothes the major issue, and puts less emphasis on a right heart attitude of humilty, gratitude, mercy and courageous faith. Pride in personal sacrifice. We may have given up things to serve the Lord. We may have prayed, fasted or given. But when we want others to know we do these things, and we wish to gain the approval and admiration of men, we are falling prey to the religious spirit.(Matthew 6) The next step if to ask, "Why is God not blessing me, since I have sacrificed so much?" Lack of mercy. But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the guiltless. (Matthew 12:7) Mercy is one of the "weightier matters of the law". Remember the Samaritan who helped those in trouble by the roadside, while the others went to church. Remember that Jesus healed as an expression of the mercy of God. Healing is not a reward for good behaviour, although sometimes bad things like religious spirits can stop us from receiving our healing. When Jesus heals today it is an expression of God's mercy. Lack of concern for the needs of people The Pharisees would pull their ox out of the well on the Sabbath, but were upset when someone was healed. They didn't care about the needs of the people around them. They loved t Hypocrisy - play acting Why do some people have a special tone of voice in church? What is this if not "play acting"? When we pretend that we have a concern for righteousness and justice but secretly hold onto certain areas of sin we are being hypocrites. The Love of Religious Power, but rejection of the power of the Holy Spirit. The Pharisees hated Jesus because they thought that because of him they would lose their place as religious leaders. They were upset with Jesus for healing and casting out demons. They called it the work of the devil. (Matthew 12:44) Jealousy and Envy of anointed ministers of God. They considered that if Jesus were truly from God he would recognise and honour them. 1 Corinthians 1:12 "I am of Paul, I am of Apollos". "But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." (2 Cor. 10:12),.
What does it matter who God works through? We are making disciples for Jesus. If we have anything it comes from Him. Can we rejoice when God blesses someone else, or do we immediately feel bad and try to find fault with them. Remember Cain's attitude to Abel when his sacrifice was rejected, but Abel's was accepted. Despising people "But this crowd which does not know the law is accursed". (John 7:49) Jesus spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others. (Luke 18:9) The Pharisees considered themselves better than the bulk of the people because of their knowledge of the law. We make a serious error if we consider ourselves better than others on the basis of race, education, knowledge, good looks or any such thing. Placing more emphasis on their traditions than on the plain teachings, commandments and declarations of the Scripture Jesus told us to preach the gospel. (Mark 16:15). People are dying out there. Why are we fighting about what kind of clothes we should wear, and how important this or that practice should be in church life? Blindness to the work of God. Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. But when the cheif priests and scribes saw the wonderful things He did, and teh children crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant They could not rejoice in the healing of the blind and lame. It had become unimportant to them. They were spiritually blind. Fault-finding. "So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him." Mark 3:2. They were hoping to find something to accuse Jesus with.
Who is leviathan There is a strong evil spirit named leviathan. This very powerful demon has been repeatedly encountered and the more we know about what leviathan does and how he operates, the more likely we are to win this fierce contest with him. "Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength; thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of the leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness" (Psalms 74:13). Here leviathan is associated with water and the ocean and is pictured with multiple heads. "There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou has made to play therein" (Psalms 104:26). "In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea" (Isaiah 27:1). Here he is called both a dragon and a serpent, and again is connected with the sea. The most extensive reference to this strange creature is found in Job 41. The fact that the Bible devotes an entire chapter describing him indicates his importance. The Modern Language translation reads: "Can you draw out the crocodile with a hook or hold down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a fish line through his gills or pierce his jaws with a spur? Will he make repeated requests of you: Will he use friendly words in addressing you: will he make a bargain with you that you should take him as your servant for life? Would you play with him as the birds or keep him as a plaything for your girls? "Will fishermen bargain over him, apportioning him among the merchants? Can you fill his skin with barbed darts or his head with harpoons? Lay your hand upon him then remember the conflict. You will not do it a second time! The man who hopes to master him will be disillusioned. At the sight of him a person is paralyzed. No one is foolhardy enough to stir him up. "Who has ever stripped off his thick coat or mail or pierced his impenetrable scales? Who can open the doors of his mouth; around his teeth there is terror. His back is shingled with scales closely fitted together with a tight seal. So near are his scales to one another that no air can get between them. They clasp one another, joining so closely they cannot be separated. "His sneezings sparkle light; his eyes are like rays of morning. Out of his jaws come burning torches and sparks of fire shoot out. From his nostrils vapors issue as steam from a boiling pot over burning rushes. His breath sets coals on fire; a flame issues from his mouth. "Such strength dwells in his neck that panic moves before him. The folds of his flesh close in on each other firmly and are immovably cast upon him. His heart is as hard as a rock, solid as a nether millstone. When he raises himself up the mighty are afraid and are beside themselves with panic. "To hit him with a sword is useless; so is a spear, a dart or javelin. To him iron is as straw and copper as rotten wood. Arrows do not rout him, sling stones he treats as stubble. Clubs are counted by him as reeds and he mocks the rattle of javelins. His nether parts are like potsherds, they leave threshing sledge grooves in the mire. "He makes the deep to boil like a pot, the sea like a vessel of ointment. Behind him he leaves a foaming wake and one wonders if the sea might be growing frost. On earth there is not his equal. A creature devoid of fear, he looks down on all that is highest. He is a king over all the sons of pride" (Job 41). Leviathan particularly hates this chapter, and the first and second commandments; also the references to him in Isaiah which label him as the crooked serpent. Although we do not know much about leviathan's work, this chapter and other references definitely connect him with the sea. Undoubtedly he is the inspiration for the various mythological gods of the sea: Neptune, Poseidon, Dagon and others. Always there is one demon god who rules the seas or rivers and who has his characteristics. Some believe leviathan was the chief deity worshipped in Atlantis and that this kingdom was destroyed by God in judgment. As we have confronted leviathan in deliverance, certainly we have only uncovered a very few of the various things that he does. Over and over when there have been severe problems with Bible study; concentration on spiritual goals; restrictions and bondages which hinder worship or just about any thing which is genuinely spiritual and of the
Lord; there we have found leviathan operating. I refer to a real flowing with the Holy Spirit, not the shallow, bogus religious externals which often pass for spirituality today. Another area where he works is in causing a variety of learning difficulties for youngsters, including reading problems. Another common characteristic of leviathan is that he is almost always present as the result of a curse riding on the family. Almost everyone in the family will have problems in this area. To break the curse, declare: "I do break the curse of leviathan back to ten generations on both sides of the family, and destroy any legal rights or grounds which give evil spirits reason to operate. I destroy all these in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." Next move directly against the evil spirit, ordering him to mainifest and leave in Jesus' name. Believers need genuine edification by prayer in the Spirit and with the understanding; Bible study; heartfelt praise; and fellowship with the Lord's people. These are hindered or stopped by leviathan, depending upon how much control he exerts over that particular individual. Some deliverance workers have reported that leviathan is responsible for stopping revival movements and works in conjunction with ruling spirits in the heavenlies to block and hinder the moving of God's Spirit in the climatic, final endtime revival. When you battle with leviathan you will learn why scripture declares him to be a powerful, wily foe and a nightmarish monster. His description is so frightening it is probably just as well that we cannot see him face to face. If the Lord lets you see in to the spirit world, fine, however, if not, don't fret about it. People often ask if I can see the spirits I battle. On very rare occasions I have seen a demon. When I asked the Lord why I did not see them all the time He said I was to teach thousands how to cast out demons. Because I did not see them but could cast them out, believers everywhhere would be encouraged to join in the battle. If I could see the demons with whom I dealt, then others would tend to take the view that they too would join the battle as soon as they possessed this "gift." "Seeing in the spirit" realm is not an unmixed blessing. Although it can be useful, too often it is a hangover from the mind being forced open in the occult. One danger is the tendency to become absorbed in the bits and pieces, losing sight of the goal of knocking out the enemy. The battle is the important thing, the weapons by which it is won will vary from case to case. Leviathan certainly doesn't sound like anything you would want to meet on a dark night or even in the daylight. This demonic entity is said to be impossible to attack. His appearance is so terrible, he is so powerful and ghastly looking, that his enemies are paralyzed with fear at the sight of him. We do not go into conflict as natural men, but can succeed because of the supernatural power which we have in Jesus (Luke 10:19). Attacking from the third heaven, high above Lucifer, principalities, powers, thrones, dominions, world rulers, kings, princes and every other angelic rank, we are able to prevail. When leviathan manifests expect a determined resistance to expulsion. He often will manifest with serpentine twisting and winding of the person's head, body and limbs. In Isaiah 14:14, Lucifer said in his heart (secret sin), "I will be like the Most High." Ambitious pride snared Satan himself and he has regularly used this to subvert human beings, since all are susceptible and never quite immune to it. We must remain constantly vigilant lest this spirit gain a foothold in our lives and thinking. Often pains and stiffness in the neck and shoulder region have been traced to leviathan. As he begins to manifest, many times these symptoms will surface. Although this is not the only source of such discomfort, for problems of this nature, check leviathan. One of the immediate blessings resulting from the expulsion of leviathan is a radical change apparent in outlook and whole approach to spiritual growth process. Many report a clearing of confusion and a greatly increased ability to read and retain the Word.
Notice that after the long, detailed description of the monster, God asks, tongue-in-cheek, if you would care to make a pet of him. This would be like taking a tyrannosaurus home for a pet. If we could see these awesome powers we attack we would appreciate even more the superior power and protection given to us by the Lord. Not only can we confront but we can attack these tremendous creatures with impunity! This explains their fuming anger, fury, and frustrated rage. The Bible speaks often about loosing captives and this very thing was prophesied about Jesus. As we follow Jesus and learn to do his works, we must loose the captives, held prisoner by demonic forces. Freedom is available; God has ordained it and we must never let the ridicule or opposition of foolish people prevent us from pursuing deliverance. Always there will be those who misunderstand what we are doing and why; they will even think us to be enemies. Satan's prison house still holds multitudes in dreadful bondage and he uses cruel creatures such as leviathan to drive, to harass and to torment, destroying all hope. To be captive is a terrible, miserable existence. When demons gain the upper hand in lives, seizing control, they force victims into abject slavery to every whim of the spirits. Surely we must storm the citadels of the adversary and destroy leviathan's kingdom.
BAAL AND MOLECH The spirits of Abortion and Gluttony are not exclusive to our country or generation. Their influence is worldwide. And they’re nothing new; they’ve been around since the early days of the world. From the time Israel was nothing more than a band of tribes fleeing Egypt, these spirits were already at work attacking God’s people. The spirit of gluttony was worshipped as the god “Baal,” and the spirit of abortion made headlines as the god “Molech.” In Chapter 3 of Purifying the Prophetic, Pastor R. Loren Sandford talks about the Baal spirit throughout world history and even now in America. He writes of how the Canaanites worked the Promised Land prior to the Israelites with great success. Their culture, and thus their religion, formed out of their prosperity. The practice of their religion served the purpose of ensuring favor from their god, Baal. Pastor Loren explained the tension of serving a relational God and how this contrasted in the Israelites’ view with Baal—who “seemed to offer predictability and control.” It didn’t take long before their service to Baal had so intermingled with their belief in the true God that it became nearly impossible to sort out who was truly the Lord of Israel. I believe the same syncretism with Baal that Israel entered into has also taken place in much of the Church. That’s why we see so many Christians who are more concerned with selfish prosperity and blessing than the cross and sacrifice. We must have both. Prosperity and blessing outside the context of the cross and sacrifice are actually destructive. God told Abraham that he was blessed in order to be a blessing. How? Through sacrifice in love! God does indeed want to bless and prosper His people—but we’re doing the world a disservice by presenting a false gospel of blind optimism instead of the truth about the joy of suffering and the glory of self-sacrifice for the sake of our Lord and our brothers and sisters. I was once stricken by Paul’s words in Philippians, chapter 1. In paraphrase: “Whether I die or live, it’s all good. To live is Christ, and to die is gain. It’s better by far for me to die and be with the Lord, but I’ll stay living for your sake.” Paul said it a lot more profoundly, but I was stirred by the sobriety with which he wrote those words. Paul had previously seen into the third heaven—he had tasted the glory that awaited him after death. He knew the unspeakable joy, peace, and blessing that were found in the Father’s presence. But instead of giving up his spirit and accepting physical death to go to that wonderful place, he chose the path of sacrificial love and gladly endured torture and imprisonment for the sake of his brothers and sisters. In this sense, Paul was not only resisting the temptation of Baal (to be self-centered and “bless-me” focused), but he was also resisting the temptation of Molech (to abort something good for the sake of personal convenience). Molech was the name of a large idol worshipped by the pagan nations, but it was no ordinary statue. As I understand it, the structure had two big metal arms that stretched forward and a furnace in its torso. As the fire in its body was stoked, the arms would glow red-hot. And in an effort to achieve some form of personal gain, a family would sacrifice one of their children by laying them on the cherry red arms of Molech. God sternly warned the Israelites not to offer their children to the arms of Molech. Children are a blessing! Yet in the same way, we too often sacrifice good, Godgiven blessings in exchange for temporary comfort and selfish prosperity. Both Baal and Molech seek to destroy the true blessings of God. Baal tempts people to focus only on personal blessing rather than the greater blessings found in knowing Jesus Christ; and Molech tempts us to sacrifice the blessings we have for the sake of what seems convenient at the time. Neither of these represent the “abundant life” that Jesus came to give us. This issue of self-centeredness has infiltrated our society. People lie, cheat, and steal to fight their way to the top of the ladder. We’ll do anything for a buck. We run up our credit cards on frivolous luxuries. And all the while our nextdoor neighbor is careening into a pit of depression and contemplating suicide. Where’s the justice? As Baal prompts us to chase after materialism and as Molech prods us to abort blessing for the sake of comfort, Jesus is calling us to follow His example. It is time to see that sacrifice for the sake of others is of vital importance if we are to bring transformation in this world.
FREEDOM FROM BAAL AND MOLECH I once heard international evangelist Reinhard Bonnke question whether or not we are so occupied fighting off territorial spirits in the heavenly realms that we forget to guard our own heart’s door. I agree. Prayer and spiritual warfare are important parts of the believer’s life; but without the armor of God, we’re sitting ducks. The only way we will ever have victory over the darkness is if we live radically contrary lives. We must penetrate the darkness. Roman 13:11b-14—…The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. (NIV) Victory over darkness comes as we clothe ourselves in light. We dismantle the grip of territorial spirits by undermining their authority. This happens when we live contrary to the influence of those spirits. If you want to be free from slavery to the spirits of Abortion and Gluttony, then you need to apply the sacrificial blood of Jesus to the infected areas of your life through prayer and live according to the resurrection life of the Holy Spirit. A territorial spirit cannot usurp your free will. The old adage, “The devil made me do it,” is completely bogus. The devil can’t make you do anything! However, when we are living according to the patterns of this world, we often find ourselves paddling upstream in our Christian walk—struggling against forces that are encouraging us toward the opposite direction. The problem is not that we need to paddle harder. The problem is that we’re paddling in the wrong stream! We must not conform to the patterns of this world. Rather, we must be continually transformed into Christ’s likeness—living according to the culture of His Kingdom rather than the culture of the enemy. Abandon the world culture. “But shouldn’t we ‘become all things to all men’?” you ask. Absolutely, but realize that you cannot “become” something unless you start as something else. Do not conform to the world culture. Rather, lead it. Blaze trails of kingdom culture while being salt, light, and yeast intermingled with the world as catalysts of the Christnature. It’s really simple. First ask the Holy Spirit to show you what areas of your life still need to come to death at the cross of Christ. Then, expect Him to answer! As you discover areas of your life that are submitted to the spirits of Abortion and Gluttony, confess them, repent, and ask for the Holy Spirit to bring resurrection life into that area. I am convinced that as we, the Church, corporately overcome the influence of these evil spirits in our personal lives, we will find them losing their grip in society around us. When we find freedom from Baal and Molech within the Church, we’ll be better equipped to bring freedom from Baal and Molech in our nations. That’s how you pierce the darkness! The Lord Jesus is calling us to be living torches who will carry the fire of His presence with boldness and purity. Just as the burning bush was a spectacle and a sign to Moses, we will become spectacles and signs to the world. He is calling us to pierce the darkness “like stars in the universe.” (See Philippians 2:15.) To put it bluntly, this lifestyle will be an inconvenience to us. It isn’t comfortable to endure hardship—abortion is much easier. And it isn’t convenient to love a relational God when the cause-and-effect principles of the law are so much easier to manipulate. But I tell you the truth: the more you choose to sacrifice your own comfort, the more comfortable it will become to be uncomfortable! Sacrifice becomes a joy when it is born of love rather than obligation. In the name of Jesus Christ, lead the way in repentance from the Spirit of Abortion and the Spirit of Gluttony. Lead the way, because personal change precedes corporate change. As you allow the fire of God to engulf your life with passion, purity, and love, you will begin to be a living “wake-up call” to the world around you. Just as the first rays of sun in the morning make it easier to wake up physically, so your light will break forth like the dawn and reveal the glory of God to a slumbering generation. Isaiah 60:2-3—See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. (NIV)

People lie, cheat, and steal to fight their way to the top of the ladder. We’ll do anything for a buck. We run up our credit cards on frivolous luxuries. And all the while our next-door neighbor is careening into a pit of depression and contemplating suicide. Blaze trails of kingdom culture while being salt, light, and yeast intermingled with the world as catalysts of the Christ-nature.
(NIV)
KNOWING THE ENEMY Why is it important to 'know the enemy'? Do you think when this world's military engages in a conflict they are ignorant of their enemy? "Of course not," you say. "They need to know their enemy's purposes, strengths, and weaknesses, tactics, weaponry, and any advantages that are available." Do you not think then, because of these same reasons, it is important for Prayer Warriors to also be aware of their enemy? The devil IS real! And he opposes every spiritual life. But the Scriptures tell us "we are not ignorant of his devices." ~2 Corinthians 2:11. Though our focus is to be heavenward, we still need to have information about the devil's tactics and strategies to prepare ourselves confidently for our warfare against him and his cohorts. The more we know, the greater our advantage on the battlefield. The Father, who knows all, knew that "intelligence of the enemy" is vital and provided much Scriptural data about this subject. The following are 8 FACTS that will help us to be prepared and ready at all times: FACT 1: The devil, also known as satan (notice I do not capitalize his name, for that is a sign of respect), rarely comes out in the open, or appears as himself. Most frequently he works through people, and he gains control through their choices/habits, desires, and/or appetites. FACT 2: The devil and his evil associates are created beings. (See Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28:14). They are not allpowerful. Only GOD is! FACT 3: The devil and his cohorts are limited in knowledge. They do not know of a certaintywhat people will say or do, not even those seemingly under their power. They cannot read minds. FACT 4: The devil is limited in presence. Because he is created, he cannot be in more than one place at a time. Only the HOLY SPIRIT has that capability. Since the devil does not have this ability, he is dependent on his demons...and they are in the same situation. Because of this limitation, we may never, ever have satan, himself, personally involved with us. However, the adage "like father, like son" holds true for the devil and his demons. FACT 5: Though the other four facts are true, we must never underestimate the devil's cleverness and his power to deceive. He, and his companions, will do anything to stop you from praying to and praising GOD. They will try to destroy you spiritually (through disunity, doubt, depression, worry, a critical spirit, stress, etc.) or physically (through accidents, diseases, appetite, or through danger, such as crime). The one and only purpose for all this is to hurt our heavenly Family. FACT 6: Likewise, we must never overestimate the devil and his cohorts either. JESUS won the victory over him and all evil on the cross and at the resurrection. This victory is ours as Christians. evil's doom is sealed. The devil and his demons are the defeated foe, but only if we remain "in CHRIST." And they are well aware of this fact, which is the reason for their frantic and desperate acts. FACT 7: Many people even Christians, saints, if they give it any thought have some misconceptions about satan and his cohorts. When asked they seem to think that the devil and his demons are red, green, or black ugly creatures with wicked-looking teeth, horns on their heads, forked tails, and part animal with split hooves. And according to some religious denominations, they go around carrying pitchforks so they can toss unrepentant sinners into hellfire. Viewed in such a light, would you not keep as far away from such a creature as you could? How satan gloats when we think of him and his kind looking like that. Though the Bible describes him as a liar (John 8:44); an adversary (1 Peter 5:8); wicked (Matthew 13:19); slanderous (Job 1:9); cowardly (James 4:7)...it also says he can change his appearance into that of an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14) and vs-.14also says, his demons can change themselves into ministers of righteousness. We must expel every erroneous image from our minds, or we could be taken in by their evil cleverness.
They use people, non-Christians, or professed Christians who are not fully committed. These people can be family members, friends, neighbors, or...people who are admired: movie, music, or sports celebrities, even a leader, yes, I said it even a leader... The enticements extended are intended for one purpose only: to keep Prayer Warriors from praising and praying to our GOD. FACT 8: Our enemy cannot invent a problem, test, trial, situation, or circumstance, for which our Commander-in-Chief (God) allows him too, read(Job 1-Job 3). STRATEGY What is strategy? The dictionary defines it as the science of planning an operation before engaging the enemy. A more simplistic explanation is: it is a plan for winning the war. The most important strategy for prayer warfare is TIME. We can pray for anyone, anywhere, for anything, but making the time to do it is of utmost importance. The devil, and his cohorts, knows this. There is no question whatsoever that each day the forces of darkness are directing subtle influences to keep Christian soldiers, and particularly Prayer Warriors, from prayer and praise. A thousand disguised death traps have been planted all around us to keep us entranced, preoccupied, and blinded to the necessity of free, quiet TIME. The truth is, our deep devotional prayer time, apart and alone with our heavenly Father, stands as our source of power and strength throughout the day. Our example is JESUS. If He felt the necessity of time with the Father, do we not need it more? When to pray, depends on personal choice; but the morning hours are usually the best for prayer and praise. Then the body is rested and the mind clear. The radio, TV, computer, are off and usually, unless it's an emergency, the phone is silent. We must learn to schedule a particular time and then ask the HOLY SPIRIT to help us keep our appointment. This is the only way we can do it. It is easy to think we can discipline ourselves to meet with our loving Father at the time scheduled, but we are inviting the spirits of darkness to interrupt...unless our prayer time has the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT to guard it. Then the question becomes, how much time? A poll taken awhile ago in the United States said the average Christian prays about one minute per day. If we believe thatprayer is the breath of the soul," then the average Christian is spiritually breathless! This truly amaze me, it made me seek God the more. One Christian writer suggests beginning with fifteen minutes of personal prayer time each day. Then as you grow in CHRIST and develop that one-on-one relationship, your time spent with the Father will grow as well.
Then we come to another tremendously important area. Perhaps the most common of all, what I call self-imposed curses. People pronounce curses on themselves. In Genesis 27 we have the story of how Isaac was going to bless Esau and the mother Rebekah who is the first Yiddish yamama, if you know what Yiddish yamama is, switched them and she got Jacob acting like Esau and claiming the blessing. Jacob wasn’t reluctant but he was afraid and he said this in verse 11: “Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man and I am a smooth skinned man. Perhaps my father will feel me and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing. But his mother said to him, Let your curse be on me, my son.” She took on herself the curse that would have been to Jacob. It was a self-imposed curse. If you go to the end of the chapter, just the last verse, you’ll find Rebekah beginning to use very negative language about herself. Rebekah said to Isaac in verse 46: “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like those who are daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?” “I’m tired of living. What’s the good of living?” That’s a typical statement by somebody who is under a curse. See? Never permit yourself to say that. Don’t make negative statements about yourself. Don’t say I’ll never be able to do this. I never succeed. I’m no use. I’m a failure. I just can’t take it anymore. And then you go on and you say I wish I were dead. I’d be better off dead. Do you know what you’re doing? You’re inviting the spirit of death. And he doesn’t take many invitations. Ruth and I have dealt with countless people who needed to be delivered from the spirit of death because they’d invited it, they imposed a curse upon themselves. And we’ve learned one beautiful verse that has helped hundreds of people. I’ll share it with you, Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare [or proclaim] the works of the Lord.” If you have made a negative remark about yourself, if you’ve imposed something negative on yourself, you need to revoke it by the positive. You see, as a remarkable example you know that Peter denied three times he knew the Lord. Later on after the resurrection beside the Sea of Galilee Jesus had a personal talk with Peter. And three times he said, “Do you love me?” He made Peter affirm three times that he loved him. Why did he do that? Because Peter had to revoke the negative statements he’d made before the crucifixion. See? So if we’ve said something negative and brought some dark shadow over us, we need to revoke the negative and replace it by the positive. And this verse is a perfect one. “I shall not die . . .” It doesn’t mean you’ll never die but it means that Satan is not going to kill you before your time. “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” I think it would be good for all of us to say that. The first time you say it after me. “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Now let’s all say it together this time. “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Once more. “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Now saying that may change the destiny of your life. All right. Let’s go on to another example, the great tragedy of the Jewish history. In Matthew 27 Jesus is before Pilate and Pilate is willing to release him. We read in Matthew 27:24–25:
“When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather a tumult was rising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: you see to it. And all the people answered and said, His blood be on us and on our children.” What’s that? A self-imposed curse. The great tragedy of Jewish history. And by those words a strand of tragedy was woven into Jewish history which was run for nineteen centuries. What a lesson not to say the wrong thing about ourselves. I pointed out to you previously that God had protected Abraham against curses. He said, “Anyone that curses you, I will curse.” There’s just one area that God could not protect the Jewish people from, from themselves. And that’s true in our lives many times. God can protect us from everything except what we say about ourselves. GETTING STARTED, IN WALKING IN VICTORY. 1) The first step is to get in the most comfortable position as possible and become quiet in your mind, so the voice of the Father, through the HOLY SPIRIT, can be heard. 2) Make it a habit to always use the Scriptures when praying. This will encourage you to develop unlimited confidence in our Commander; and it will push back the forces of darkness. 3) Pray a few seconds for the HOLY SPIRIT to give you wisdom and understanding as you apply the Word. 4) Choose a verse or text that fits what you are seeking or interceding for someone else for. Ask the Father if this is the one? Often another or two or more will come to mind--write them down and look them up. Meditate on them. 5) Talk to the Father about the texts, and who or what you are praying for. And then, listen. Remember, prayer is like talking with your best friend. We talk, then our friend talks. Don't monopolize the conversation! Let the Father respond. The Bible says the Father is eager to answer, if our request is according to His will. And if it is, be prepared for His answer, nothing wavering. 6) Make sure to practice prayer protocol... a) ASK THE FATHER. John 16:23. b) IN JESUS NAME. John 16:24. c) IN THE SPIRIT. Ephesians 6:18. If you want supernatural heavenly power added to your prayers. TIME is the most important strategy we have is FAITH, as we grow the HOLY SPIRIT will increase the more in our life.
Unscriptural Covenants Then we’re going on in the next common cause of curses. It’s what I call unscriptural covenants. Exodus 23:32, in relationship to the people whom Israel was to dispossess from the land of Canaan; that is, all of them. Idol worshippers, people who lived in total rebellion against the living God. Moses said, Exodus 23:32: “You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.” You understand, if people have false gods and you make a covenant with those people, you are also making a covenant with their gods. Now, I’m going to say something that I trust will not offend anybody and I say it simply because my desire is to help people. One extremely common example of that in our contemporary culture in the western world is freemasonry. Because, a person who becomes a mason makes a covenant with those who are masons. Freemasons will tell you that it’s secret, but it’s not. In the l950s a book was published in Britain by an Anglican clergyman named Hannah called Darkness Visible which sets out all the main rites and ceremonies of freemasonry, and no mason has ever challenged that book in more than thirty years. When you become a mason you have to pronounce a curse on yourself if you disclose the secrets of the masons. And it includes things like having your tongue cut out, your right arm cut off and thrown over your left shoulder, and your body being exposed in a place where the tides rise and fall twice in every twenty-four hours. Those are self-imposed curses. Freemasonry is an idol religion. It’s clear in the 32nd degree, the royal arch degree, which acknowledged and offers worship to a person called Jabulon. Which is a combination of Jehovah, Baal and Osiris. And so the true God of the Bible is joined together with two idol deities whom God has totally condemned. When you make a covenant with that, you’re making a covenant with those gods. I’m saying this on the basis of much experience. I cannot take time to relate all the experience but I’ll simply relate one. In Australia about three or four years ago Ruth and I were ministering in a church on Sunday morning and we were praying for people. A young woman came forward about eighteen years old with a tiny little baby in her arms, for prayer for the baby. And you would have said the baby was six days old but actually she told us it was six weeks old. We said what is the problem and she said she won’t take any nourishment. So, as we prayed the power of God came on this young woman and she went down on the floor. Ruth caught the baby out of her arms and held it. As she lay on the floor, God gave Ruth a word of knowledge to the people who were ministering to her. She said her father is a Freemason. Deal with that force. And the moment they came against it the woman began to writhe and scream under the power of a demon. And as they ministered, she was released with a prolonged scream. But the remarkable thing was the little baby in Ruth’s arms released a precisely similar scream at the same moment. So not merely was the mother released but the baby was released. They came back that evening about six hours later and we asked the mother how the baby was doing. She said she’d taken three full bottles since the morning. But I want you to see the fact that the father’s participation in freemasonry had brought the curse upon the daughter and the granddaughter. I mean, I do not have time but I can give you half a dozen other specific examples. It affects the family, it affects the descendants, it affects the spouse, it affects the relatives. There are other ways that this kind of curse can come in. Tribal societies, very commonly a baby or a young person is initiated into the tribe by certain rites. Very often there are cuts made on the skin or powder inserted under the skin. And that exposes that person to the curse that’s on the idolatry that’s the focus of that tribe.
I am redeemed from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). I break all generational curses of pride, lust, perversion, rebellion, witchcraft, idolatry, poverty, rejection, fear, confusion, addiction, death, and destruction in the name of Jesus. I command all generational spirits that came into my life during conception, in the womb, in the birth canal, and through the umbilical cord to come out in the name of Jesus. I break all spoken curses and negative words that I have spoken over my life in the name of Jesus. I break all spoken curses and negative words spoken over my life by others, including those in authority in the name of Jesus. I command all ancestral spirits of freemasonry, idolatry, witchcraft, false religion, polygamy, lust, and perversion to come out of my life in the name of Jesus. I command all hereditary spirits of lust, rejection, fear, sickness, infirmity, disease, anger, hatred, confusion, failure, and poverty to come out of my life in the name of Jesus. I break the legal rights of all generational spirits operating behind a curse in the name of Jesus. You have no legal right to operate in my life. I rebuke all familiar spirits and spirit guides that would try to operate in my life from my ancestors in the name of Jesus. I rebuke all false beliefs and philosophies inherited by my ancestors in the name of Jesus. I break all curses on my finances from any ancestors that cheated or mishandled money in the name of Jesus. I break all curses of sickness and disease and command all inherited sickness to leave my body in the name of Jesus. Through Jesus, my family is blessed (Genesis 12:3). I rebuke all pride inherited from my ancestors in the name of Jesus. I break all oaths, vows, and pacts made with the devil by my ancestors in the name of Jesus. I break all curses by agents of Satan spoken against my life in secret in the name of Jesus (Psalm 10:7). I break all written curses which would affect my life in the name of Jesus (2 Chronicles 34:24). I break every time-released curse that would activate in my life as I grow older in the name of Jesus. I break every curse Balaam hired against my life in the name of Jesus (Nehemiah 13:2). Lord, turn every curse spoken against my life into a blessing (Nehemiah 13:2). I break all generational rebellion that would cause me to resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51). I break all curses of death spoken by people in authority in my nation over my nation in the name of Jesus. I break curses of death spoken against my country by people from other nations in the name of Jesus. Generational curses from unconfessed sin: Exodus 34:6-7 “and He (the Lord) passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, the Lord, the Lord, the compassionate & gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, & forgiving wickedness, rebellion &
sin. Every 3rd and 4th generation has to deal with the sins of their ancestors.” Deuteronomy 11:26-28 “See, I am setting before you today a blessing & a curse- the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the and a automatic curse for not letting me help you by turning away and serving false gods which has never satisfied you.” Moses addressed this issue when the Israelites were preparing to enter the Promised Land. He told the new generation that was getting ready to enter in unless they dealt with their own personal sins and also the sins from the generations before them. Leviticus 26:39-42 “And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.”

Ancestral and Generational curse prayer Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive my ancestors and others that have caused a curse to fall upon me and my children. I ask that you God forgive me and them. I rebuke curses placed on me and my descendants from uttering a wish of evil against one; to imprecate evil, to call for mischief and injury to fall upon; to execrate, to bring evil upon and to; to blast, vex, harass and torment with great calamities. I destroy the curses back to ten generations and even to Adam and Eve on both sides of my family, and destroy legal holds and grounds that demons have to work in my life. I rebuke, and cast out of myself and my children from evil curses, charms, vexes, hexes, spells, jinxes, psychic powers, bewitchment, witchcraft and sorcery, that have been put upon me and my family line from persons, occult and psychic sources, and I cast out connected and related spirits and command them to leave me. I thank you, Lord, for setting me free. (Read: Lev 18, Lev 19, Lev 20, and Lev 21) But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee. I rebuke these curses and those that follow in the name of Jesus. I Rebuke if myself-or-family members ever Mistreated God's Chosen People, Willing Deceivers, Adultery, Harlotry and Prostitution, Disobedience to Bible, Idolatry, Keeping Cursed Objects, Refusing To Fight For God, House of Wicked, Not Giving To Poor, Stealing, Swearing Falsely By God, Failing To Give Glory to God, Robbing God of Tithes, Dishonoring Parents, Hearkening to Wives Rather Than God, Making Graven Images, Cheating People Out of Property, Taking Advantage of Blind, Oppressing Strangers, Widows and Orphans, Bestiality, Incest With Sister or Mother, Murder Secretly and For Hire, Pride, Putting Trust In Man, Doing The Work of God Deceitfully, Rewarding Evil For Good, Abortion and Causing Unborn To Die, Murdering Indirectly, Striking Parents, Kidnapping, Cursing Parents, Not Preventing Death, Sacrificing to Gods, Witchcraft, Turning Someone Away From God, Following Horoscopes,

I decree and declare victory in the name of Jesus Amen...
How to identify ungodly spirits How To Recognize Evil Spirits. 1. Discerning of spirits, word of knowledge and word of wisdom: three gifts of The Holy Spirit. 2. Names claimed by demons which describe their work: such as anger - to make angry. 3. Counterfeiting and imitating spirits of God (spirit of divination for word of knowledge). 4. Synonyms for evil spirits. 5. Personality of demon (soul - mind-will and emotions). Since demons and spirits do not have a physical body, that is why they are constantly in the air and try to use our bodies to dwell in. 6.We can cause demons to manifest and identify their names and characteristics (spiritual warfare). 7. Detection spirits by common symptoms or problems: emotional, mental, speech, sex, addictions, physical and religious (false religions, christian cults, occult and spiritism, false doctrine), you can even smell a certain type of spirit as well. The Spirits of God and satan. 1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God (I John 4-vs-1-3). 2. We have been taught the typical bind demonic spirits . I want to tell you to Rebuke, or cast them out. 3. Therefore, we are safe in assuming that for every ministering spirit of the Lord, there will be one, and often many satanic counter spirits. 4. Activating spirits from the Lord. General 1. We Rebuke the spirits (demons) of satan and Activate and Decree and Declare the spirits (angels) of God. We rebuke and cast the demons out of people and God directs the angels to minister to our needs. 2. Godly spirits commonly mentioned are spirit, Spirit of God, Spirit of the Lord, Holy Spirit (human spirit, angels and Holy Spirit). 3. Ungodly spirits commonly mentioned are evil spirits, demons and devils. There is actually only one devil, satan; demons are the correct terminology. There are millions of fallen angels and billions of demons. 4. The following are lists of godly and ungodly spirits found in the Bible. You can identify many more after you have been in deliverance for a while. Ungodly spirits generally are found grouped in families. Where you find one demon, you frequently find a family of demons with the same characteristics with one demon as the leader ( ruler demon, demonic overseer). Ungodly Spirits (ancient demons).... Spirit of infirmity or weakness (Luke 13-vs-11), Spirit of Antichrist (I John 4-vs-3) , Spirit of fear (II Tim. 1-vs-7), Deaf spirit (Mark 9-vs-25), Perverse spirit (Isa. 19-vs-14), Dumb spirit (Mark 9-vs-25), Sorrowful spirit (I Sam. 1-vs-15), Blind spirit (Matt. 9-vs-27), Spirit of slumber (Rom. 11-vs-8), Foul spirit (Mark 9-vs-25; Rev. 18-vs-2), Spirit of whoredoms (Hos. 5-vs-4), Unclean spirit (Matt. 14-vs-43; Mark 1-vs-23), Destroying spirit (Deut. 13-vs-15), Evil spirit (Judges 9-vs-23; I Sam. 16-vs-4-16, and-vs-23), Spirit of divination (Acts 16-vs-16), Another spirit (II Cor. 11-vs-4), Spirit of bondage (Rom. 8-vs-15), Hasty of spirit (Prov. 14-vs-29), Spirit of error (I John 4-vs-6), Haughty spirit (Prov. 16-vs-18),

Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary..... The following is Taber's definition of multiple sclerosis: "A chronic, slowly progressive disease of the central nervous system characterized by development of disseminated demyelinated glial patches called plaques. Symptoms and signs are numerous, but in later stages those of Charcot's triad (nystagmus, scanning speech, and intention tremor) are common. Occurs in the form of many clinical syndromes, the most common being the cerebral, brain stem-cerebellar, and spinal. A history of remissions and exacerbations is diagnostic. Etiology is unknown and there is no specific therapy." This means that the doctors don't know what causes the disease and how to cure it. Notice from above reading from the medical dictionary. They tell you the symptoms of the disease and where it is located in the body. However, not were you can cure the disease. With this information, you can pray more effectively and know how to pray in the spirit and get results. The symptoms can be called out as names of demons such as plaques, Charcot's triad, nystagmus, scanning speech and intention tremor. Demons will answer to their medical names, common names, symptoms or names they are given in the spiritual world as well. The main key point is to recognize them knowing that it is an evil spirit and knowing the proper way to eliminate them Psychoneurosis, Psychoneurotic and Psychopsychosis...... These lists of demons help you to understand those you are ministering to who have these personalities. A study of psychology and psychiatry can be very helpful in deliverance. The method of treatment can also open the door to demons. The medical profession identifies the names of demons but they don't know about deliverance. I am taking psychology now, when I become a psychologist in 5 more classes, not only will I know the symptoms and the name behind the spirit, I will know how to deliver my patient and cast the demon out. Phobias..... Phobias are fears. There are 210 phobias recognized by psychiatrists. Using and learning the tactics of fear In Deliverance 1. Because demons tend to "cluster" in family groupings, fasting, praying, and a group setting can be an amazingly helpful instrument to identify demons within a specific category. 2. When the spirit is forced to manifest, his name, located first in the individual mind, it becomes a tool to uncover his supportive network of demons. 3. This method has been tried in the laboratory of experience and many times has been the key to a breakthrough in cases where the demons have a particularly stronghold on the individual.
Rom 7-vs-7-25 Romans 7:7-25New International Version (NIV) The Law and Sin 7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”[a] 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. 13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death,so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. 14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[b] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[c] a slave to the law of sin. Footnotes: 1. 2. 3.

1 Corinth 5 1 Corinthians 5 New International Version (NIV) Dealing With a Case of Incest 5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowshipthe man who has been doing this? 3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. 4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, 5 hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. 6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[c] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”[d] Footnotes: 1. 1 Corinthians 5:5 In contexts like this, the Greek word for flesh (sarx) refers to the sinful state of human beings, often presented as a power in opposition to the Spirit. 2. 1 Corinthians 5:5 Or of his body 3. 1 Corinthians 5:11 The Greek word for brother or sister (adelphos) refers here to a believer, whether man or woman, as part of God’s family; also in 8:11, 13. 4. 1 Corinthians 5:13 Deut. 13:5; 17:7; 19:19; 21:21; 22:21,24; 24:7
Gal 5-vs-12-36 Galatians 5:13-26 New International Version (NIV) Life by the Spirit 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and selfcontrol. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Mark 1-vs-21-32 Mark 1:21-32 New International Version (NIV) Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit 21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” 25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. 27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee. Jesus Heals Many 29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her.31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. 32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.
Mark 5-vs-1-20 Mark 5:1-20 New International Version (NIV) Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man 5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” 9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. 14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. 18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b] how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed. Footnotes: 1. 2.

Acts 16-vs-16-18 Acts 16:16-18 King James Version (KJV) 16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Lev 20 Leviticus 20 Amplified Bible (AMP) 20 And the Lord said to Moses, 2 Moreover, you shall say to the Israelites, Any one of the Israelites or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech [the fire god worshiped with human sacrifices] shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 I also will set My face against that man [opposing him, withdrawing My protection from him, and excluding him from My covenant] and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given of his children to Molech, defiling My sanctuary and profaning My holy name. 4 And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from the man when he gives one of his children [as a burnt offering] to Molech [the fire god] and they overlook it or neglect to take legal action to punish him, winking at his sin, and do not kill him [as My law requires], 5 Then I will set My face against that man and against his family and will cut him off from among their people, him and all who follow him to [unfaithfulness to Me, and thus] play the harlot after Molech. 6 The person who turns to those who have familiar spirits and to wizards, [being unfaithful to Israel’s Maker Who is her Husband, and thus] playing the harlot after them, I will set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people [that he may not be included in the atonement made for them]. 7 Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the Lord your God. 8 And you shall keep My statutes and do them. I am the Lord Who sanctifies you. 9 Everyone who curses his father or mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or mother; his bloodguilt is upon him. 10 The man who commits adultery with another’s wife, even his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. 11 And the man who lies carnally with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of the guilty ones shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon their own heads. 12 And if a man lies carnally with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have wrought confusion, perversion, and defilement; their blood shall be upon their own heads. 13 If a man lies with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed an offense (something perverse, unnatural, abhorrent, and detestable); they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 14 And if a man takes a wife and her mother, it is wickedness and an outrageous offense; all three shall be burned with fire, both he and they [after being stoned to death], that there be no wickedness among you. 15 And if a man lies carnally with a beast, he shall surely be [stoned] to death, and you shall slay the beast. 16 If a woman approaches any beast and lies carnally with it, you shall [stone] the woman and the beast; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. 17 If a man takes his sister, his father’s or his mother’s daughter, and sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a wicked and shameful thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people; he has had sexual relations with his sister; he shall bear his iniquity. 18 And if a man shall lie with a woman having her menstrual pains and shall uncover her nakedness, he has made naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood; and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
19 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for that is to make naked his close kin; they shall bear their iniquity. 20 And if a man shall lie carnally with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless [not literally, but in a legal sense]. 21 And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is impurity; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless [not literally, but in a legal sense]. 22 You shall therefore keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell may not vomit you out [as it did those before you]. 23 You shall not walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they did all these things, and therefore I was wearied and grieved by them. 24 But I have said to you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the Lord your God, Who has separated you from the peoples. 25 You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable with beast or with bird or with anything with which the ground teems or that creeps, which I have set apart from you as unclean. 26 And you shall be holy to Me; for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. 27 A man or woman who is a medium and has a familiar spirit or is a wizard shall surely be put to death, be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.
2 Kings 21 2 Kings 21 Amplified Bible (AMP) 21 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began his fifty-five-year [wicked] reign in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. 2 He [Hezekiah’s son] did evil in the sight of the Lord, after the [idolatrous] practices of the [heathen] nations whom the Lord cast out before the Israelites. 3 For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshiped all the [starry] hosts of the heavens and served them! 4 And he built [heathen] altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, In Jerusalem will I put My [a]Name [and the pledge of My presence]. 5 And he [good Hezekiah’s son] built altars for all the hosts of the heavens in the two courts of the house of the Lord! 6 And he made his son pass through the fire and burned him as an offering [to Molech]; he practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and wizards! He did much wickedness in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger. 7 He made a graven image of [the goddess] Asherah and set it in the house, of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put My Name [and the pledge of My presence] forever; 8 And I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them. 9 But they would not listen; and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations did whom the Lord destroyed before the Israelites! 10 And the Lord said through His servants the prophets: 11 Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols, 12 Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle! 13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. 14 And I will cast off the rest of My inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies, 15 For they have done evil in My sight and have provoked Me to anger since their fathers came out of Egypt to this day. 16 Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, filling Jerusalem from one end to another—besides his sin in making Judah sin, by doing evil in the sight of the Lord! 17 The rest of the acts of Manasseh, all that he did, and his sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
18 Manasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza. Amon his son reigned in his stead. 19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began his two-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother was Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. 20 [But] he also did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done. 21 He walked in all the ways of his father; and he served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them; 22 He forsook the Lord, the God of his [forefathers], and did not walk in the way of the Lord. 23 The servants of Amon conspired against him and killed the king in his own house. 24 But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and made Josiah his son king in his stead. 25 The rest of the acts of Amon, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 26 He was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza. Josiah his son succeeded him. Footnotes: 1.
