Transition and Support
The Henley College, with its two campuses, is often described as being like a mini university. Life here is certainly very different from school, but from the start of your learning journey with us we ensure you have the support you need to be healthy, feel safe and achieve.
We know that for some students the move from school to college can seem like a big step. From the moment you accept your offer of a place, we stay in regular contact with useful information and also provide transition activities to help you prepare and feel ready for your chosen programme of study. In September, induction is carefully planned to ensure each student has everything they need to settle happily into the college environment. At Henley, you will take greater responsibility for your learning and benefit from a more mature approach, whilst continuing to enjoy a high level of guidance and support. We firmly believe that students will achieve their best results in a more open, but purposeful teaching and learning environment. If you require specialist help at any stage, the College employs skilled staff who can assist with a wide range of study support, guidance on careers and higher education, including applications for Oxbridge, Law and Medicine and also work experience and placements.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead
“Mental health and wellbeing plays a key role in how we feel on a day-to-day basis and sometimes we need a little help. I support students through 1:1 counselling and group sessions. This could be a single meeting, or several over a period of time. I offer support on a wide range of issues, including mental health, bereavement, self-esteem, self-harm, family and relationships, drug and alcohol concerns and identity. Counselling is confidential and nonjudgemental and offers you time and space to work through issues that may be impacting your life, or ability to learn, and gives you the chance to discuss options and find ways to move forward.”
HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Our aim is to help you achieve your very best and grow into a successful and confident individual equipped with all the tools needed for your next step. We take health, safety and wellbeing very seriously and want every student to thrive and be happy. The College promotes healthy living, and being in a rural town, we have plenty of fresh air and green space both on campus and in the surrounding area. We are a short walk from the meadows by the River Thames that offer a quiet space for outdoor study. There are lots of opportunities for students to be involved in sport and fitness with a range of sports available through our Enrichment programme and we also have a contemporary fitness room/gym in our Sports Hall, which was opened in 2012. Wellbeing is our priority and our caring and professional staff offer specialist guidance and support, including counselling and welfare. We all have times where we face challenges, whether at college or at home, and we are always there to listen and support students.
