The Gazebo's Submission Guidelines

Article Submission Guidelines 1. The deadline for The Gazebo Issue #5 article submission is Feb 21st, and the theme of this issue is Superheroes. All articles should be sent to gazebo.ezine@gmail.com. 2. Before submitting an article, please send us an article blurb (100-150 words) about your article, and give us an idea of your intended word length (see Point 3, below). If we think it suits the current issue, we’ll get in touch. 3. Our general guideline for article length (unless we've specifically discussed doing very short articles or really long in-depth pieces) is approximately 450-600 words for smaller reviews and 750-1000 words for more extensive review/articles/opinion pieces. That is not to say that you can't write a bite-sized article or one over 1500 words, just please give us a heads up first so that we can see if it'll fit in with everything else that's going on in the issue. 4. For each issue, we will have a theme. For example, the theme of Issue #1 was Steampunk and the theme of Issue #5 is Superheroes. This is just a motif for the Issue, and your article does not need to fit within this theme. If you have an idea of an article which does, however, please send us a blurb as outlined above and we’ll let you know if it suits, as there may be a lot of overlap in themed articles and we cannot include them all. For each issue, the majority of articles will not be related to the theme. 5. Proofread your article before submitting. (I know, I know, it sounds obvious but you’d be surprised…) Or, even better, if possible, ask a friend to proofread the article before sending it to us. 6. Use a spell-checker and grammar-checker on your article. Most word processors have these built in as a single button you can press – make sure to use it, please. 7. Include a title. 8. If including images, please find copyright-free or fair-use images or obtain permission for the use of any copyrighted material. 9. Include any relevant links. Download links are forbidden and the same active link should not be present more than once in an article. 10. All of the article must be your own work, and any quotes/references which are included must be attributed to their origin. Authors reserve and retain all copyright to their articles. 11. Format: Save your article as a .txt or .doc file type. Do not include any unnecessary formatting. 12. Pick two pertinent/entertaining quotes from your article to be blown-up alongside the text. 13. Send us a short author profile – a line or two about yourself, written in the third person, and a small photo if possible.

Ready to send us your article? Make sure you’ve included… The Article Two interesting quotes An author bio, and small photo (Unless you have sent one to us previously)
