Listowel sisters make history in the Women's Soccer Colleges Association of Ireland.

Sistely love turned to sporting rivalry last week when two Listowel sisters lined out against each other for a college soccer match. Rebecca Horgan's IT Carlow played Louise Horgan's Waterford IT in the first game of the WSCAI Premier south. Rebecca Horgan scored for IT Carlow on 25mins and 10 mins later Louise Horgan scored for Waterford IT. IT Carlow won 7.3 on the day but for the "sisters" it finished 1.1. Rebecca and Louise both play club soccer with Listowel Celtic and have always played on the same team since the age of 7 and 8. It was a first in the WSCAI where two sisters lined out against each other with both scoring on the day. On a happier note the sisterly love will return to normal on Sunday when they will line out together for Listowel Celtic in the Munster Junior Cup Final.

UNISLIM REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

A group of 14 Unislim Leaders took to Mount Brandon last Sunday to push their own boundaries and show that with a little support, there is no mountain too high. Being motivated to take on a challenge is what Unislim leaders do best! Each week, they inspire and guide members at their local classes to take control and make small changes in their lives that will have a big impact on not only their weight, but their overall health and wellbeing.

Unislim Leader Ann Hynes says “At Unislim we want to show people that living a healthy lifestyle is all about loving life more, having the energy and confidence to do the things you love and to feel great in your own skin. All of our Leaders have lost their weight with Unislim, they know how it feels to step onto the scales each week, and sharing their success with members is what sets us aside – we speak from a place of understanding and we believe that every one of our members can have the healthy life they want and deserve with our Forever Free plan.” Over the past month, this fantastic group of Unislim leaders has helped their members to lose an incredible 1,140 stone. Ann says “our members have pushed themselves out of their comfort zones to lose weight, so it’s important that we do the same. Our Team have had such a great day helping each other reach the summit and that’s what it’s all about – support and team work, just like a Unislim class”. If you would like to join your local Unislim class, visit Unislim.com and find a class near you today. To enquire about joining our team, fill in the quick application form unislim.com/becomealeader

SPIKE PLAYERS TO PERFROM ‘JACK FURY’ AT JOHN BS

The Knocknagoshel based Spike Players have proved a huge success throughout North Kerry recently with their adaptation of Bryan McMahon’s 1972 published, one act play, Jack Furey. They will now be performing the play as Pub Theatre in John B Keane’s Bar this Thursday 29th October at 8pm and all are most welcome. The play has already been staged at Knocknagoshel Community Centre and in the intimate setting of the Rambling House in Duagh and Finuge. Inspired by this success, Spike Players have entered the one act drama circuit and are the first Kerry group to do so in over 20 years. Involvement in the circuit means that the group will compete at drama festivals in Clare, Cork and Waterford throughout the winter. “The play features: Mairead Brosnan as Josie; Michael Finnegan as Daithi and Josephine Roche as Grace,” explained director and founding member, Padraig Dennehy from Lixnaw. “The play may have been written over 40 years ago, but it’s core theme of a household struggling with relationships, family secrets, life’s frustrations, betrayed by and confronted as a consequence of dementia are as prevalent today as the time it was written. Spike Players wish to acknowledge the continued support and encouragement they have received from K.E.T.B. drama classes.

J.J. Walshes bar on Monday for a Jackpot of €6.800.

HURLING CLUB FIXTURES; County Minor Hurling League Final Lixnaw V Crotta on Sunday October 25th @ 1.00pm in Abbeydorney. Results; County Minor Hurling Championship Final Lixnaw; 3-18 - Ardfert; 1-10 COUNTY MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: A strong Lixnaw side seeking two in-a-row and their third in a four year spell convincingly overcame a spirited St. Brendan’s outfit on Saturday in Kilmoyley. Lixnaw led from the throwin, scoring 0-05 in the opening quarter to St. Brendan’s 0-03, with Shane Conway 0-02 from frees, Jeremy McKenna scoring one point with Colin Sheehy making up the balance. St. Brendan’s scores came from Fionan Mackessey scoring two and Eric Leen converting from a free. Lixnaw dominated the second quarter. Shane Conway and Colin Sheehy proved too powerful for the St. Brendan’s backline with both men scoring two points including a fantastic solo effort by Conway as he beat 3 men in the process of scoring his first point from play. John Buckley showed great leadership as he scored two points also. Lixnaw did suffer a blow though in the 25th minute as No.9 Brian McAuliffe was forced off due to injury with Thomas Molyneaux replacing him. Ardfert's only score of the quarter came from Jimmy Shanahan. Lixnaw went into the dressing rooms at the break leading 0-11 to 0-04. St. Brendan's struck 7 wides in the first half. St. Brendan’s did start the better in the second half with Eric Leen scoring two points from frees in quick succession. It looked like the Ardfert men would come back until John Buckley scored the first goal of the game finishing from a great run from the 45 yard line. Eric Leen would score again from a free before Lixnaw took over the scoring. Shane Conway converted 3 frees and Colin Sheehy scored Lixnaws second goal, which took the sting out of the game. Diarmuid O'Connor replaced Michael Davis for St. Brendan’s. The final quarter saw a big effort by St. Brendan’s to try and rescue the game but it ultimately came to nothing. Both sides scored 1-03, Lixnaw's scores came from Colin Sheehy who scored 0-02, Shane Conway scoring another point from a free and the substitute Brendan Angland finding the back of the St. Brendan’s net. St. Brendan’s final attempts included two points from Eric Leen from frees and 1-01 coming from Fionan Mackessey also from dead ball situations. A happy Lixnaw captain John Buckley accepted the cup from the County Hurling officer Ger McCarthy much to the delight of the large Lixnaw supporters. Man of the match went to the Lixnaw centre-forward Jeremy McKenna and deservedly so. Congrats Jeremy. They were our club President Mickey Maher and the other great man himself, Willie O’Connell. Both has given many decades of sterling service to hurling in Lixnaw which hasn’t gone unnoticed and their contributions will always be remembered. GREAT TIP BY AURELIA from Metamorphosis Slimming Island

Save same calories on great swap. One table spoon of butter is 102 kcal and have 11.52 g of fat. One table spoon of soft cheese is 44 kcal and have 3.24 fat and we are getting few extra grams of proteins. This is only one example but there is many things that we can swap and save more and more calories every day. If you need to spread something on your wraps use ketchup instead of mayonnaise. One tablespoon of mayonnaise is 57 kcal and 4.9 g of fat. One table spoon of ketchup is only 15 kcal and only 0.06 g of fat.

Another excellent swap sugar and stevia. Sugar one teespoon is 16 kcal and Stevia is 0 kcal. Now start swapping today and don't wait any longer, start your better healthier and more energetic life today!! Any more great advices soon or “call in to Metamorphosis Slimming Island on 31 Market Street Listowel or call on 0862063790

Sympathy: Listowel Emmets would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the Griffin Family Ballygologue, Listowel on the recent passing of Bert. Results Emmets seniors had the better of Finuge in the opening round of the North Kerry Senior Championship on Saturday last, the game played in Finuge failed to live up to expectations as the visitors had the upper hand from the get go with Micheal Lynch opening the scoring for Emmets with a well worked point from play. This was quickly followed by another good effort from Conor Cox and Noel Kennelly, with Maurice Corridan getting a long range effort to leave the half time score Emmets 0-6 Finuge 0-2. Emmets dominance continued in the second half with a combined effort from Cox and Sheehy to put daylight between the sides. Finuge got a consolation goal towards the end of the half with some slopping defending from Emmets, Eddie Barrett blew the full time whistle to leave it Emmets 1-11 Finuge 1-3. LISTOWEL EMMETS LADIES

END OF YEAR REPORT... Our U11s & U12s had their end of year trip on Saturday Oct 17th. The day began with a trip to Cork to play St Vals. The bus journey passed quickly with a quiz which ended up being a cracker with only the tightest of margins separating the top few teams and the girls proving they're not only good footballers. Once the match destination was reached, our U11s and U12s participated in two separate games, meaning plenty of gootball for all with the Emmets girls putting in fine performances. St Vals were gracious hosts and a presentation by Emmets to the Vals secretary Marian Cronin was a fitting way to mark the occasion. Indeed it is hoped that Vals will make a return journey to Listowel early next year. Onwards then to Farran Wood for a day of zip wiring. This was a first for most participants and with girls to be seen flying through the tree tops everywhere, everyone had a fabulous time. With a lot of very excited and tired bodies after over 4 hours in the park it was time for the journey home. The trip home passed quickly thanks to the bus talent show. Every girl on the bus participated with goodie bags for all participants. The standard was very high with Jim White's rendetition of 'The Banks' and father and daughter team of Tadhg and Katie Murphy's version of 'The Golden Jubilee' being stand out performances. The bus arrived back into Listowel shortly after 8pm with everyone back in one piece. A big thank you to the parents who travelled and indeed a big thank you to all parents generally for all your help throughout the season with transport and refreshments when required, and your overall support by ensuring your young players continued to be part of the club. We very much look forward to next year when hopefully all the girls will be back for more. Go raibh maith agaibh !!

LISTOWEL RUGBY

Listowel Under 7's minis represented themselves well against Killarney at the blitz in Killorglin. All of the training was put into good practice, matching their opponents skill-wise and on the scoreboard. In all, three games were played and everybody, parents, coaching staff and onlookers enjoyed every second of play. Lots of fun was had and the boys would probably have played all day, given the chance.

The Listowel under 8’s took part in their first blitz of the year in Killorglin on Saturday. They played matches against Killorglin, Corca Dhuibhne, and Killarney playing very well with some great tries, passes, and tackles. The team thrived on playing their first proper games of the season, with a big improvement as the day went on. All games were played in a great spirit with the team doing their coaches, parents, and club proud. There were 16 U10 players in attendance which was a great number for the first blitz. Listowel were able to field two teams. There were some great tackling, running with the ball and also passing. A number of players made their

debuts for Listowel U10s and these included Con Fitzsimons, Jack Buckley, Fionan Moloney, Jack Enright and Ethan Flannery. They all played very well on their first outing for the club. Each of the teams played three matches. They played Killarney Rugby Club, Corca Dhuibhne Rugby Club and Killorglin Rugby Club. They were all very competitive matches with Listowel showing that they were able to play good rugby against all these clubs. There was a great turn out for Listowel under 12's at the Killorglin blitz. We entered two teams on the day, we competed against teams such as Killarney, Killorglin and Dingle. This year we have a squad of 30 players, this is great news as we always struggled for players. Tackles were made, rucks were formed and coming from that trys were scored too many names to mention!! A great display of rugby watch shown by our Listowel U12's boys and girls Many thanks to the parents who travelled to Killorglin on Saturday. Their support was much appreciated. The weather was perfect and it made for a very enjoyable day for everyone concerned. Bring on the next blitz in November!!

Our U15's girls took on St. Marys in their second game in the Munster Rugby, League campaign. They started the game where they left off from their previous game with purpose and energy, with free flowing displays in the back line. Several times the ball went wide to the speedster Sadbh Griffin who made plenty of yards for her team. The fine display of no9 play came from Alex Kelly getting to each breakdown and passing the ball quickly to Trish Scanlon who controlled the game with great authority. The pack are really gelling together with great pick and go displays and good rucking against a formidable St Mary team. The Centre partnership of Meadbh and Emma are a great combination and will trouble any side. Next to take to the pitch were our U18's Also taking on Limerick side St Mary's. The first 10 mins was an arm wrestle to impose their game plan which resulted in Tries, the first half performance was very controlled which is being instilled by the Head Coach Chip Vivier, with elements of offloads in the tackle which Aishling Brosnan lapped up and made yards for her team, Muirne Wall had another solid performance and Molly Cluney who also stepped up to U18 grade this year and have been a massive additions to the U18, the experience of Dearbhla Canty and Ciarda Supple kept the pressure on their opposition. Sarah Jayne Kelly never stopped working which encouraged her teammate to replicate her efforts. This is another great result for the u18 and also have the Shannon next in the league which is a step up again and they must pull out all the stops in order to keep their winning streak intact. Weekend Fixtures - Saturday 24th October U16's boys V Corca Dhuibhne, Co-Op pitch at 11.15 U18's girls V Shannon, Town Park pitch at 11.00 U15's girls V Shannon, Town Park pitch at 12.30

The game is scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday at 1 O’Clock in Ballybunion. In the Junior Championship, Beale have received a first-round bye. Third from the bottom of the table, we are hovering in the relegation zone, going into our final game. All to be played for, with a win here to maintain divisional status or a play-off. RESULTS; NK U14 C'ship: Ballydonoghue (3-15) Duagh (2-04). Great win for our U14's in Ballylongford on Sat evening.

Co. Novice Club C'ship semi final: Ballydonoghue 0-16. Lispole 2-11. We struggled throughout this game to match Lispole's intensity with most of our scores coming from frees eleven in total. Even though not playing at our best we somehow managed to be ahead by a single point in the finals minutes of normal time. But a last minute close in free for Lispole brought the sides level at the final whistle. Ballydonoghue 0-11. Lispole 1-8. We played our best football in the first period of extra time and led by 2pts. at half time. B/Don 0-14. Lispole 1-9. With four minutes remaining in the second period of extra time we had drawn clear by 3pts. and were looking like we may have pulled the game out of the fire. But a minute later Lispole ripped through our defence to blast home their second goal. With one minute left Lispole were awarded a '45 meter free that their goalkeeper slotted between the posts. A point behind and one last chance a Jack Foley shot across the goals that looked to be drifting wide was some how fielded by Padraig Lyons but his fisted effort came off the post and out wide as the referee brought proceedings to a close from the resulting kick-out. Team; Darragh O'Shea, Jason Foley, John O'Mahony, Billy Foley, Conor Kennelly, Diarmuid Behan, Jack Gogarty, Brian Ó Seanacháin, Thomas Kennelly (capt), Jim Cremin, Eamon Walsh, Darragh Sheehy, Kieran Lynch, Paul Kennelly, Damien O'Carroll. Subs: Colin O'Mahony, John Enright, Martin O'Mahony, Jack Foley, Padraig Lyons, Kieran O'Connell, Kevin O'Donnell. (all played). Cumann na mBunscol: This year's Allianz Cumann na mBunscol North Kerry Schools' League concluded with the honours going rightly to Ballyduff Central N.S. for the very first time. This is the first time in eleven years that the title is not residing in Ballydonoghue. Coolard won the title five times in a row, followed by Lisselton who did the same. The players from all those successful teams are now bringing success to the club at minor, junior and senior levels. Thanks to Eamonn Moran who was one of the referees for the league and to the North Kerry Board for its support.

ALL IRELAND FOOTBALL MEDAL WINNERS: On Saturday 24th October at 7.30 Ballydonoghue's All Ireland minor medal winners Brian Ó Seanacháin and Jason Foley will be bringing the Tommy Markham Cup to the clubrooms Coolard . Also Darragh O'Shea with the All Ireland Junior Cup will be present and All Ireland U16 medal winner Sophie Lynch.

ASDEE GAA

NOVICE COUNTY SEMI FINAL. Asdee 1-8 St. Senans 1-12. Played at O Sullivan Park, Finuge on Sunday last St. Senans reached the County Novice Championship Final in a most entertaining encounter but had to rely on all their expertise to grind out a four point win over stubborn opposition. In fairness to the winners they were always in control and fully deserved their victory but when Asdee will reflect back they will rue some poor shooting and conceded some needless frees which Paudie Quill, St Senans was unerring. Asdee began brightly and Darragh Keane popped over a good point after 4mts.before a quick free by Paudie Quill sent Sean O Connell through to level up. The first of the games goals came when Darren Russell for Asdee got on to a long delivery and smashed to the net in the 7th,mt and 6mts later Darragh Kennelly found the net at the other end. It was end to end play at this stage and with Senans registering neat points through Brendan Wheelan and Sean O Connell and Asdees Mike Breen keeping his side in touch kicking over 2 frees. Senans were dealt a huge blow midway through first half when Sean O Connell had to cry off injured and was replaced by Shane Nolan who was to impress for the remainder of the game. Paudie Quill, Darragh Kennelly for Senans and Cyril Dineen for Asdee left the half time score; Asdee 1-4 St, Senans 1-5. On the changeover it was Asdees outstanding player Darragh Keane who levelled up the contest in the opening minute; but Senans moved up a gear and 5 points in succession with Asdees only reply coming from Mike Breen in the 15th minute as the Halfway boys led 1-9 to 1-6 after 17 minutes. Senans were now enjoying the majority of possession even though they had to play out the last 12 minutes with 14 players as Brendan Wheelan was red carded for a late challenge. The remaining 7 minutes or so was hectic as played ebbed and flowed; Points from Paudie Quill and Sean T Dillon were exchanged with Asdees John Doran and Eoin Tydings but when the final whistle sounded it was St. Senans who go through and a final meeting with Lispole. Asdee: James Kelly, Con Carmody, Noel Long, Eoin O’Carroll, Kieran Kelly, Sean Keane, Brian Coughlan, John Doran, 1pt, Padraig Ruddle, Mike Breen, 3pts, (fs) Darragh Keane, 2pts, Michael Tydings, Eoin Tydings, 1pt, Cyril Dineen, 1pt, Darren Russell, 1gl. Subs; Michael Walsh for Brian Coughlan, Paul O Carroll for Michael Tydings, Charles Dalton for Kieran Kelly, Eoin Kennedy for Paul O Carroll. NORTH CHAMPIONSHIP. Walsh Park, Asdee will host the meeting of fellow parishioners Asdee and Bally in the opening round of the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship on this Sunday October 25th, 2.30pm; and is sure to attract a huge attendance to the venue. Going on recent previous results between the teams it would seem as if the team from the Westeran side of the parish would be clear favourites and rightly so; however when it comes to Championship football Bally will always be a force to be reckoned and you write them off at your peril.

Mobile: 086 3689061 | Email: osullivan_mairead@yahoo.com NORTH KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP Sponsored by McMunns Bar & Restaurant Ballybunion Listowel draw first Blood in Opening Round of the 2015 North Kerry Senior Championship. Finuge 1.03 v Emmets 1.11 This game was played on Saturday last in Finuge where the homeside never seemed to find their form. The visitors Emmets were first on the scoreboard with a point from Micheal Lynch followed in quick concession with a point from Emmets Captain Ger McCarthy. It took until the 8th minute for Finuges first score which came from a converted free from the boot of Maurice Corridan. Emmets were always the sharper and further points came from Darragh Leahy, and Conor Cox. The only other score in the first half from Finuge came from Darragh Shanahan, while the Emmets men weren't finished and further points from Connor Cox (F) and Bryan Sweeney from play to finish the half Emmets 0.06 v Finuge 0.02 Second half and Finuge were the team who needed the good start, but Emmets were hungrier, kicking 3 pts to no reply two from frees, before Emmets David Sheehy punched the ball to the back of the Finuge net finishing the game as a contest. It took Finuge deep into injury time to reply with a late goal from Darragh Shanahan but it was too little too late the full time score Emmets 1.11 v Finuge 1.03. So Emmets march on into the Quarter Final where they meet Knocknagoshel.

The Final for the Mcmunns Sponsored Bernard O Callaghan Senior Football Championship is provisionally fixed for the Sunday 20th December, for the Board to achieve this the cooperation of all clubs is vital. KIERAN CORRIDAN INTERMEDIATE CUP Sponsored by South of Ireland Waste Disposal Der O'Connor Semi Final: Clounmacon 2-08 -v- Desmonds 0-07 This was a very one sided affair on the scoreboard, but Clounmacon didn't have it all their own way. The Desmond men opted for a long high ball into the square but it didn't work as the ball on a number of occasions came straight back out. Clounmacon could have won this game by a larger margin had they got their shooting boots on with 7 wides in the first half. In the second half Clounmacon upped the tempo of the game with midfielder Tommy McCarthy buzzing all over the pitch giving a man of the match performance followed closely by teammate half forward Bryan Murphy, Desmond's did have chances but failed to follow through. Clounmacon are now in the Final awaiting the winners of Ballydonoghue and Moyvane. PRAYER

My Lord and My God, it is my unchangeable will to honor you in these FIFTENN SECRET TORMENTS. When you shed Your Precious Blood; As many time as there are grains of sand around the seas, as fruits in the orchards, ss leaves on the trees, as flowers in the garden, as stars in the sky, as angels in the heaven, as creatures on the earth. So many thousands of times May you be glorified, Praised and Honored. Oh most love worthy Lord Jesus Christ, Your holiest heart, Your precious blood, Your divine sacrifice for mankind, The holiest sacrament of the altar, The Most Holy Virgin Mary, The nine glorious choirs of Angels, and the blessed phalanx of the saints, from myself and everyone, now and forever, and in the eternal ages. In like manner, I desire, my dear Jesus to give you thanksgiving, to serve you, to repair and atone for all ignominies and too offer you my soul and body as your possession forever. Likewise I regret all my sins and beg your pardon, O my Lord and my God and I offer you all the merits of Jesus Christ to repair everything to obtain a happy dying desire to renew at each hour until my death. O lovable Jesus Sweet Savior, Fortify my resolution and permit not that neither wretched men nor satan destroy it. AMEN J.K.

ROSARY OF THE HOLY WOUNDSOF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

On the large beads: Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ to heal the wounds of our souls. On the small beads: My Jesus pardon and mercy through the merits of Thy Sacred Wounds. Promise of Our Lord to St. Martha. “I will grant all that is asked of Me by the invocation of my Holy Wounds. You must spread the devotion” “With my Wounds and my Divine Heart you can obtain everything.” “The sinner who will say: Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ, etc., will obtain conversion .” J.K.

THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours. This time I ask you this special one, (mention favour). Take it dear heart of Jesus and place it within your heart where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your own favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never been known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. D.H.
