FROZEN FEST IN BALLYBUNION
Ballybunion will once again welcome Elsa, Anna, Christophe, Hans and of course Olaf to the winter wonderland that is Arendelle on the 13th March 2016. It was this time last year that hundreds of children and parents too came to help our Frozen friends enjoy their holiday in Ballybunion. For one day on the 16th March between 2pm and 5 pm JD’s Nightclub kindly helps the Ballybunion Special Events team transform into a twinkling frozen festival. The frozen fun will include bouncy castles, children’s disco, frozen games, Arendelle beauty parlour with face painting, hair braiding and nail colouring. There is also a karaoke, sing-along-movie and a few frozen treats. Everybody is made welcome by the frozen characters with lots of opportunity for photographs on arrival. The cost is only €10.00 per child and parents go free. All the activities once through the door are complimentary. Payment can be made on the door or tickets can be bought in advance at the Post Office, Supervalu or Sundaes Ice Cream Parlour. Frozen Fest is held by the Ballybunion Special Events team, who along with organising events and fund raising throughout the year support the financing of the Christmas Lights for the town. We could not believe the success of the festival last year, it exceeded our all expectations in every way. The delight on the faces of the children meant all the hard work was worth every minute, even blowing up the 1600 ice balloons, said Jennifer Walsh one of the organisers. A few reviews from 2015 - It was a fantastic day, it was so magical for the children. - A great day in Arendelle - Such a super day - Congratulations, You brought joy to so many children - I know I had one happy little girl - Taws, an amazing day. - So many smiles on so many faces.
“A LOSS OF SIGHT NEVER A LOSS OF VISION”
CampAbilities 2016…The countdown to Campabilities 2016 is well underway for the many campers and volunteers of this fun-filled sports camp. What is unique about this camp is that it is designed for people who are blind or vision impaired so that everything is adapted to suit their needs and ensure that they get to take part in a wide variety of sports and activities as well as make new friends.
The camp has been running every Easter since 2010 and the demand is growing every year. Children from 10-14 years from all over Ireland come to camp to experience activities ranging from rock climbing to soccer. Previous campers can also come back when they are aged 15-17 to participate in a leader in training programme where they develop leadership skills and now in its seventh year many previous campers are now over 18 so can come back as volunteers to help in the running of camp. Camp was set up with two main aims. The first was to introduce children to sport and physical activity so that they found out what they liked and what adaptations helped them to get involved so that they could then follow up with participating in these sports after camp in their own communities. The second aim is to educate volunteers who are mainly students of sports and leisure courses in the Institute of Technology Tralee and the National Learning Network. These volunteers will go on to be professionals and need to know how to adapt their instruction to include people with vision impairments. The other important aspect of camp which has emerged is the importance of peer support. Children and their parents have found great support from each other in the challenges they face in a world that is set up to cater for people with full sight.

KISS GOODBYE TO MS: FINAL CALL FOR SUPPORT
County Kerry supporters asked to ‘Wear, Dare & Share’ to support local people with MS.
As the inaugural Kiss Goodbye to MS campaign enters its final two weeks, MS Ireland is calling on County Kerry supporters to ‘Wear, Dare and Share’ in support of more than 9,000 people living with Multiple Sclerosis in Ireland. MS is the most common disabling neurological condition of young adults in Ireland, with no known cause or cure. All funds raised during the Kiss Goodbye to MS campaign (4th February - 18th March) will support vital services for local people living with MS.
Originally an initiative of MS Research Australia, MS Ireland joins seven MS organisations throughout the world taking part in Kiss Goodbye to MS this year. Supporters are invited to get involved in three ways: WEAR their favourite red lipstick, item of clothing or accessory, share their kiss on social media with the #kissgoodbyetoms and text SMOOCH to 50300 to donate €4; DARE to sign up for the Kiss Goodbye to MS Skydive; SHARE the message by hosting a red themed fundraising event. Further information and event packs are available from www.kissgoodbyetoms.ie Ava Battles, CE at MS Ireland, the national organisation providing vital services, information and support to the MS community commented: “We have been delighted with the response so far. Supporters from all over Ireland have been sharing kisses on social media, hosting innovative fundraising events and some brave souls have even signed up for the MS Skydive in March. With just over two weeks to go, I urge even more people to get involved to show their support and help us to raise both awareness and essential funds for the provision of services for those living with MS here in Ireland.” Please visit www.kissgoodbyetoms.ie for more information.

North Kerry League: Ballylongford 1-19 Ballyduff 0-11. Ballylongford made their first game in the North Kerry League a winning one with a convincing win over Ballyduff at O'Rahilly Park Ballylongford on Sunday last. With the two previous rounds failing to go ahead due to weather conditions this game was played in brilliant sunshine. Ballylongford were well on top in the early exchanges and went two up in the first two minutes. Ballyduff began to settle and Barry O'Grady got them off the mark with a point in the 10th minute. The game was held up for a while as Michael McEllistrim was treated for a serious shoulder injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. When the game resumed little separated the sides for the remainder of the half with the minimum between at the break. Half Time Score Ballylongford 0-7 Ballyduff 0-8. The home side played their best football in the second half and began to pile on the scores. Matt O'Connor opened the scoring with a point in the first minute, Eddie Mangan followed with the first of his five of the half a minute later. Jersey Houlihan got Ballyduff off the mark with a point in the 6th minute but it was all Ballylongford for the remainder of the half with a good spread of scorers. Cathal O'Carroll joined the attack and got the game’s only goal just before full time. Referee Billy McElligott.

U12 B's: Listowel Celtic U12 B's travelled to play Killarney Athletic B in the league and they came home with 3 points. Listowel started well and a Jack Carty strike had them ahead within 5 minutes. Celtic pinned the home side back and created several more chances but some excellent goalkeeping by the killarney goalie kept the score at 1-0 until a few minutes before half time when a brilliant strike by Chris McQuaid gave Celtic a 2 goal advantage at the break. The 2nd period saw more of the same from Celtic and they scored a fine team goal when 4 players were involved in good build up play and Tony Boland finished the move. The last goal came from man of the match Rory Mahony which he finished neatly into the corner. He set up 3 goals and scored making it a good day at the office. LISTOWEL RUGBY
The setting couldn't have been better, great pitch, great weather and a great turnout to support the Listowel u18's boys. Not knowing what Dunmanways form was like we were taking on the unknown but from the start the Listowel boys were hungry for the victory, they started strong and realised quickly this wasn't going to be a one sided game. Our first score came from a penalty that Kevin Dillion slotted over with great ease 3-0. Our lineouts were strong with Darren Kerrins winning the ball from the Dunmanway throw in on several occasions, our scrum half Paudie Hickey controlled the ball at the breakdown and with great communication with the backs saw John Quilter touch down with a fantastic off load from Kevin Dillion. Dunmanway were first to score in the second half but they didn't get an easy try with our forwards Luke Morrissey, Shawn Carey and Patrick Carmody working hard together to hold them out, but Dunmanway broke the Listowel defence line and got their only try of the game. Listowel never dropped there heads but drove on stronger and dominated the second half and it was the turn of winger Eoin Scannell who hit the white wash in the corner with a great pass from Robert Smith and again Kevin Dillion put it over the post. Kevin who's kicking was on form sealed the deal for listowel when the boys were awarded a penalty ending the game 20-7. The Listowel boys now prepare for the Semi final in two weeks time with the return of our injured players James McFarland, Conor Beasley and Finn Scratchly will see Listowel take on either Fermoy or Ballincollig with a full squad. Team on the day: Luke Morrissey, Matthew Sweeney, Killian Downey, Darren Kerrins, Patrick Carmody, Shawn Carey Daly, Benedict Godfrey, Colm Stack, Paudie Hickey, Kevin Dillion, John Quilter, Milan Williams, Padraigh Hunt, Eoin Scannell, Robert Smith, Jack Banbury ,Keith Kelliher and Darragh O'Donoghue. Thanks to the parents for supplying and helping to serve our visitors food on the day and for your continued support for the boys on the sideline, it's very much appreciated. Thanks to Ger for doing a great job refereeing and to our coaches Aidan, Tom
and Andy for all the hard work and time ye put into the team. Thanks also to James for having the pitches ready for the game.
U13 girls took to the field in Listowel Town Park, after many weeks under the roof in Mountcoal it was fantastic for the girls to put all their new rugby skills that they had learnt under the tutelage of Connor Sheehan and the great work behind the scenes by Marie Mckenna. The girls kicked off from the start with direct running play from the backs with an early score. These girls are very new to the game but have relished the game and the fun they have at training and playing for their club. Also Like to thank Abbeyfeale RFC girls who played to the final whistle. We are always looking for new players of any ability tall, small, fast or strong this game is for you ! Ava Grimes, Kelly Mahony, Emma Browne, Danielle Mckenna, Hannah Murphy, Grace Scanlon, Kerri Mai Costello, Leanne Smith, Ciara Sheehan, Nadine O'Connor, Elish Hartfeld, Any queries contact U13 Mananger Maire Mckenna : 0873739623
LISTOWEL ATHLETIC CLUB
Congratulations to Aoife Mahony on winning a Juvenile All Star Award from National AAI for her performances on the track in 2015 last weekend in Tullamore. Last year marked a great year for Aoife, winning 2 National indoor titles in both the 800 and 1500m and followed up in the outdoor with silver in the 800m. This is well deserved recognition for a very focused talented athlete.
Further awards will be coming to the club next weekend when two Listowel AC athletes will receive County Awards for the 2015 season. The aforementioned Aoife Mahony will pick up another award for the Juvenile women Track and Field and Kevin Lynch for Masters Men Track and Field. Well done to both athletes.
Best of luck to Listowel AC athletes, Sasha Brent and Nathan Wright who take part in the GloHealth National Schools Cross Country championships in Sligo Racecourse next Saturday. It’s always a great occasion and experience to run at National level and we hope these athletes enjoy this experience. Remember: It’s not the dog in the fight but it’s the fight in the dog. Our U9 - U12 athletes will be in action in the Kerry County Juvenile Development Games on Saturday 19th March in Milltown at 11am. This is always a good stepping stone for the younger ages to gain experience and sample the athletic environment taking part in sprints, standing long jump, speed bounce and relays. ASDEE GAA
NORTH KERRY LEAGUE: Certainly the recent atrocious weather conditions we have been experiencing at the minute has taken its toll on the local G A A programme with games having to be called off due to unplayable pitches. Asdees North Kerry League Division 2; Round 1 tie due to be played at Jack Walsh Park on Sunday last was transferred to Willie Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel but so too was deemed unplayable which resulted on the game having to be called off to a later date. Now Asdee have had a back game against Ballylongford called off in Round 2 and with the Credit Union County League Round 1 games scheduled to go ahead on Sunday March 20th it would have been important for the preparation of the County League if these games could have been played. However its nobody fault and im sure all will fall into place as the year progresses.
FUNDRAISER: There has been a magnificent response to the club Fundraising sponsorship drive who will be hosting a “Stars In Their Eyes” Fundraiser in the Community Centre on Saturday April 9th and who are seeking programme sponsorship from people and businesses in the area. The club are looking for E25 for a quarter page, sponsorship, E50 for a half page and E100 for a full page sponsorship. Once again we greatly appreciate your continued support. The wording and lay out of your advert can be emailed to asdeegaaweb@gmail.com. Contact any Club officer for further information.
SCOR NA bPAISTI: Sunday March 20th the Marian Hall Moyvane, 2pm will host the North Kerry Finals of Scor Na bPaisti where the local club will be involved. All the winners on the day will then go forward to the County Semi Finals which will take place at the Tintean Theatre, Ballybunion on Sunday April 10th commencing at 2pm sharp.

Ballylongford made their first game in the North Kerry League a winning one with a convincing win over Ballyduff at O'Rahilly Park Ballylongford on Sunday last. With the two previous rounds failing to go ahead due to weather conditions this game was played in brilliant sunshine. Ballylongford were well on top in the early exchanges and went two up in the first two minutes.Ballyduff began to settle and Barry O'Grady got them off the mark with a point in the 10th minute. The game was held up for a while as Michael McEllistrim was treated for a serious shoulder injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. When the game resumed little separated the sides for the remainder of the half with the minimum between at the break. Last weekend saw our annual finals of Sult na Nog taking place in both the IT Tralee and Fossa Community Centre. Numbers this year rose to new heights as entries touched 470 entries. Saturday was a hive of activity in the IT as Musicians singers storytellers and comhra competitors gathering in the IT Tralee to compete. The standard again this seem to rise and it was great to see all the children getting their chance to take part in this wonderful competition. On Sunday Fossa Community Hall was packed as Set and Ceili dancers filled the venue. Each group took the stage and were greeted with a warm welcome form the audience. Children from as young as 7 were taking part for the first time on stage and was a wonderful sight to see these young competitors taking part. A special thanks to all those who helped over the weekend and to those who came forward on Saturday morning to help was fantastic. Your help over the weekend over the weekend was very appreciative. To the management and staff of both the IT Tralee and Fossa Community Centre we are indeed grateful to you and thank you for your co operation.

The home team who lost their opening round game played host to a Desmonds side who had an impressive victory in round 1. This was a keenlycontested game from start to finish with Desmonds starting brightly and converting some early points. In fact only for a great save from the Finuge goalkeeper in the early stages the lead could have been more. Finuge settled as the half developed and picked off points from the boot of Raymond Galvin & Maurice Corridan which brought the teams level for the first time after 25 minutes. A defensive error resulted in the first goal of the game for Desmonds just before the break, however Finuge responded to this set back well with the final score of the half, leaving the half time score Finuge 0-4 Desmonds 1-4. Finuge started the second half brightly with Raymond Galvin adding two further points and Finuge levelled matters 10 minutes into the second half. However Desmonds responded well with three unanswered points to give them a three point lead once again heading into the final quarter. Finuge showed great determination in the final quarter scoring a goal and two points which gave the home side a two point lead heading into the closing stages. Unfortunately Desmonds were not ready to throw in the towel and responded with two late points to level the game at the final whistle of an exciting contest, Finuge 1-9 Desmonds 1-9. The result means it is unlikely that Finuge will now qualify for the semi-finals. They will play Listowel in the final round while Desmonds will play Ballydonoghue. Ballybunion Community Games U10 Indoor Soccer team did their parish proud with their performances at the County finals in Milltown on Sunday February 28th. They finished second and won silver medals for all their efforts. They played 3 games and they won two of them, losing only to the eventual winners Brosna. Their first game was against An Gaeltacht which they won 2-1. The boys clinched the win with a late goal. This set them up nicely for their second game against Brosna. They started well in the game but Brosna scored against the run of play. The boys battled on but then conceded another goal early in the second half. They kept going and pulled one back with four minutes to go but they could not get the equaliser. At this stage all four teams were level on points going into the last game. Ballybunion kept their best performance for the last game where they tore Beaufort apart with great passing and scored 5 goals and conceded only one. However Brosna won their last game also and by virtue of them beating Ballybunion it meant that they were county champions. It was disappointing for the players but they can take a lot of positives from their performances. It was a great achievement to get to the county finals and to come second as well in the competition. There were eight players on the panel and they all played their part. They were Dara O'Connor, Fiachra Buckley, Leigh Meehan, James Prendergast, Avan O'Connor, JJ O'Rourke, Cormac Scanlon and Daithi Keane Tyrrell. Thanks to all the parents for all their fantastic support and for travelling to Duagh and Milltown.

NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. MARTHA
Saint Martha. O St. MARTHA, I resort to thee and to thy petition and faith, I offer up to thee this light which I shall burn every Tuesday for nine Tuesdays. Comfort me in all my difficulties thro' the great favour thou did’st enjoy when Our Saviour lodged in thy house. I beseech thee to have definite pity in regard to the favour I ask (mention favour). Intercede for my family that we may always be provided for in all our necessities. I ask thee St. Martha to overcome the dragon which thou didst cast at thy feet. One Our Father and three Hail Marys, and a lighted candle every Tuesday and the above prayer made known with the intentions of spreading devotion to St. Martha. This miraculous Saint grants everything before the Tuesdays are ended no matter how difficult. D.M.
Oh, most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God; Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me you are my Mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succour me in my necessity (Mention your request here) There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times). Holy Mary, I place this prayer in your hands (3 times). Amen. This prayer is never known to fail and is to be said for 3 consecutive days. Publication on granting of the favour must be promised and done. M.R.
UNFAILING NOVENA TO TO ST. ANTHONY
"Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints" O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble and anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen. T.O.R

Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never been known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. K.F.
