MINISTER FOLEY WELCOMES KEY REFORMS TO CE, TUS AND RURAL SOCIAL SCHEME

Education Minister and Kerry TD Norma Foley welcomes today’s announcement of a number of significant reforms to Community Employment, Tús and the Rural Social Scheme (RSS). The following changes are announced today: • Removal of the six-year time limit for all participants on the Rural Social Scheme. • Eligibility for Tús extended to persons in receipt of Disability Payments • New flexibility to allow CE schemes to directly recruit eligible candidates to fill 30% of places. • Intreo to significantly increase the number of referrals to CE with schemes required to offer places to at least 60% of candidates referred. • New Pilot Scheme to extend eligibility to Qualified Adults to be explored • Continue to allow schemes to extend individual placements and retain existing participants in cases where no replacement candidate has been selected. This means that local services should not be impacted due to an inability to replace participants. The purpose of CE and Tús is to provide long term unemployed participants with work experience in their local communities to help them find employment. There are currently over 19,000 participants on CE, almost 5,000 participants on Tús and just under 3,000 participants on the Rural Social Scheme nationally. Government investment in the three schemes will amount to over €500million in 2022. Minister Foley said: “I welcome these positive initiatives announced by my Government colleagues Minister Humphreys and Minister O’Brien. These significant reforms will provide further security and targeted supports to those social scheme workers who continue to provide vital services in areas such as childcare, meals on wheels, the maintenance and upkeep of local amenities and other key services across the county.”

Speaking at the presentation Breda O’Dwyer, Principal stated “The staff and pupils of Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. were delighted when Lee Strand came to visit our school. We here in Sliabh a’ Mhadra are big fans of Lee Strand for many years now. We have been collecting the tokens from the Lee Strand milk cartons for several years and wish to acknowledge the generosity of Lee Strand in providing free homework journals for our pupils for many years. It has been a huge support to all of us to have these attractive journals provided each year. Imagine the surprise our pupils got when they were called out to the yard and were greeted by Mighty Mikey. An even bigger surprise was that for the first time ever Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. had won €500 in the Lee Strand Cash 4 Schools Draw. SAN RITA WELLNESS

Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well What do you think is the significance of a lifebuoy ring? This is a very important life saving piece of equipment and is vital for survival. In other words “Good to have and bad to want “. We all need this in one shape or form to keep us afloat on our Weight loss and Wellness journey. S. O. S. Sometimes we may all feel a little out of our depth and find ourselves in a little bit of difficulty for various reasons. There could be some dangerous currents or riptides that drag us in the wrong direction. So lets stop and access the reasons why this can happen. * Unhelpful habits that we developed over time. * Not as many events on the calendar which can diminish our motivation. * Putting ourselves at the bottom of the list. * Trying to adjust to a new routine. * Going through different stages of Menopause. We can all associate ourselves with one or more of the above. We understand that if you are not in the right frame of mind and feel you are struggling to continue, that is when you really need to reach out and grab the lifebuoy ring to keep you afloat and bring you back safely to the shoreline. The shoreline could be your “ WHY “ you started your weight loss and wellness journey in the first place. HELP IS AT HAND Our San Rita Wellness plan is your lifeline, but it is no use just bobbing along in the water, you must grab onto it and work with it in order to get the feeling of control and confidence back. What we mean by this would be the following : GOALS - Set mini goals, as they can take us from A to B rather than trying to go from A to Z, which can be unrealistic and leave us feeling like we are sinking. * 4 weeks to the August Bank Holiday weekend, imagine 1lb to 2lb a week weight loss (WOW) * Choose something from your wardrobe that’s not quite fitting right just yet. * Think about the difference it would make to make to the number on the scales. * Would you look different? * Would you feel different? TRACKING - Are you more successful on the weeks you keep a track of your food and your calorie intake? Why is that? Simple !! * You are staying within your calorie allowance. * You are mindful of the type of foods you are eating. * You can recognise your trigger times. ACTIVITY - Are you doing more or less than you did before ? * Try and add an extra 5 mins to your workout/walk * Move like you are late for an appointment. * Don’t use the weather as an excuse not to be active. * Wearing a pedometer or a fitbit watch helps you to be more mindful of your step count. There maybe a time when it feels like you are paddling your own canoe , but remember San Rita Wellness are always here for you. If you feel you are in difficulty at any time, just send us an S.O.S. and we will answer your call. New members are always welcome to our weekly “ In Person Meetings “ in Listowel and Ballybunion.

LFC 130 YEARS:

The Alternative History of Liverpool Football Club By Liverpool FC

A birthday cake with 130 candles on it would light up Anfield, but not as much as the players, managers and supporters of Liverpool FC have done. Five years ago, a bestselling title called ‘LFC 125: An Alternative History’ was published to celebrate the club’s anniversary and now, as we approach another milestone, this popular book has been updated with new stories. If you’re thinking this is a drab trawl through 130 years of history then think again. This 480-page hardback book takes readers on a rather different journey through time. It’s about people. It’s about moments. Places. Managers. Trophies. Tragedies. Medals. Away days. Forgotten nights. Banners. Goals. Goalies. Hat-tricks. Heroes. Villains. Secret missions. Kits. Songs. Legends. Legacies. Derbies. Pubs. Liver Birds. Celebrations. Mosaics. Memorabilia. Memories. Kopites. It’s about 130 varied things that made Liverpool FC the successful, iconic, fabled football club that is loved by millions around the globe, but told in a completely different way as this official anniversary book brings to life the unique story of one of the game’s most famous, successful clubs. As Jurgen Klopp and his team compete for more honours, ‘LFC 130: An Alternative History’ will appeal to the many thousands of Liverpool fans wanting to revel in the club’s history.

Thank you. COMMEMORATION Many students from Ballylongford and Asdee attended St Ita’s Secondary School in Tarbert between 1940 and 1964. On Sunday 19th June last Patrick Lynch of Chapel Street, Tarbert presided as a commemorative plaque was unveiled by Margaret Sheehan (Née Coolahan) at the site of the school. This was followed by a memorial mass celebrated by Father John O’Connor and our former Parish Priest Father Phillip O’Connell, both past pupils of the school. In his oration, Padraig O Concubhair, former principal of Lenamore National School, explained how St. Ita’s, founded as a girls school in Glin in the 1030’s by Jane Agnes McKenna moved to the old Erasmus Smith Schoolhouse in Tarbert in 1940, became co-educational and was attended by many members of the local Church of Ireland community. When the Comprehensive school in Tarbert opened in 1975,it subsumed, as well as St. Ita’s, St Patrick’s in Glin founded by Master Dore, and Glin Vocational School. Padraig quoted Bishop Eamon Casey’s words at the opening of the Comprehensive School when he said “ Those who set up these little local schools made available locally a secondary education, which would otherwise be completely beyond the reach of a large proportion of the local young people”. After the ceremonies, which were attended by a large number of past pupils of the school, all adjourned to the local Community Centre for tea and reminiscence. TIDY TOWNS NOTICE In preparation for this year’s Tidy Towns judging, the local Tidy Towns volunteers have been working tirelessly cleaning the streets, weeding, painting and planting hanging baskets/ window boxes with multiples of flowers all around the Village and approach roads to the village. Thanks to the group’s dedication and work there is currently a massive display of brightly coloured flowers to be seen all about the village. Following on from last week’s report that one of the flower baskets on the bridge was vandalised and thrown in the river we can now report that Gardai using security camera data from nearby premises have apprehended the culprit and compensation to the value of the flower basket has now been paid over to the Tidy Towns group. Hopefully this will put the message out there that such anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our community. BEREAVEMENT A very sad week again in the Community as the shocking news came through of the passing of two young people who the good Lord called from us. The news on Monday afternoon (June 20th) of the passing of Bobby Hanrahan R.I.P. of Newport. Co. Mayo and formerly of Bridge St, Ballylongford came as a complete and utter shock to all that had known him in this community where he was born and reared and the community of Newport where he was highly respected and very popular in both communities. Bobby was born into a hugely respected and very successful business family where he was very much loved by his parents, family and staff at Hanrahan’s Bakery in Bridge Street. Growing up in the late 50’s and early 60’s he saw and witnessed a

18

thriving village and community in Ballylongford and while he enjoyed his young years in the village and working hard during the summer seasons while off on holidays from school set him up for his future years as a very successful businessman. He attended the local National School and enjoyed his leisure time playing with his many friends which also included being part of a very successful under age team during those years which he enjoyed. Having completed his studies, he began his business career moving to Westport where he met and married the love of his life his beloved Antoinette together they worked hard to form a very successful family business. In his leisure time he became a very prominent Rugby Official in refereeing and administration. Sadly Bobby’s health took a turn for the worst and he passed peacefully at his residence after a short illness surrounded by his family. To his heartbroken family of beloved wife Antoinette (Toni), his loving daughters Nicola and Kate his beloved sisters Maria and Loreto, his five grandchildren Ollie, Luke, Senan, Finn and Skye, his sons-in-law Tom and Nick, brother-in-law John, sisters-in-law Ann and Bernadette, nieces, nephews, family relatives and wide circle of friends we offer our deepest sympathies. Bobby lay in repose at the family home before removal from his residence on Thursday morning last July 23rd to St. Patrick’s Church, Newport for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment took place afterwards in Burrishoole Cemetery. May he Rest in Peace. On Tuesday afternoon came the shocking news of the unexpected passing of Damien Carmody R.I.P. of Leitrim Middle, Moyvane. A young man in his 30’s Damien was the son of Colm and Amanda (Née O’Riordan). His Dad Colm would be extremely well known in this Community coming from a highly respected and much loved family born and reared in Killelton to the late Patsy R.I.P. and Beatrice. On Damien’s Mom’s side of the family which were also very highly respected and well known in this community, his grandfather was the late Con (Connie) O’Riordan R.I.P. and his grandmother is Phylls O’Riordan (Née Moriarty) sister of the late Madeline (Barrett) R.I.P. of Lenamore. Indeed with such strong connections within the Community words cannot express the sense of loss felt by everybody on this young man’s sad passing, indeed his passing at such a young age is heartbreaking for his family and all who knew him. With all of the condolences posted on rip. ie one truly gets the picture of the wonderful person this young man was and the many lives of so many people that he touched through his kindness and humour. His passing at such a young age is so hard to come to terms with and as we offer our support and prayers we think and send our deepest sympathies to his heartbroken and loving mother Amanda, father Colm and his beloved wife Mary Jo, sisters Sarah, Anna, Mia and Emma, grandmother’s Phyllis O’Riordan and Beatrice Carmody, uncles, aunts, his dear friend Olivia, cousins, extended family, neighbours and so many friends at such a sad time. Damien lay in repose at Lyons Funeral Home, on Sunday evening last. With his cortege arriving to the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane, on Monday morning for Requiem Mass for Damien being celebrated at 12 noon, followed by Interment afterwards in Ahavoher Cemetery, Moyvane. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam. Sympathy is extended also to the family of Liam Bunce R.I.P. of the U.S.A and formerly of Lenamore, Ballylongford who died in November 2020. Liam’s ashes were brought to St Michael’s Church Ballylongford on Monday last June 27th for requiem mass followed by interment at Lislaughtin Abbey. To his heartbroken family of wife Ann, sons Sean, Brian, Aidan, and daughter Maura, parents Margaret and John Bunce, sisters Kathleen Fitzmaurice, Breda Gaggioli, Marie McEnery and Evelyn Mullins, his brother John we offer our deepest sympathies. May he Rest in Peace. Ballyduff team; Killian Murphy; Gavin Murphy, Aaron Whyte, Rory Whelan; Calum Carey, Luke Kennelly, Ryan O’Rourke; Adam Lynch, Oisín Healy; Stiofán Carrig, Jack Enright, Cian Sheehy; Killian Boyle, John Curtin, Luke Rochford. SUBS: Jake Rochford for Calum Carey; Jake Segal for Cian Sheehy; Michael Houlihan for Killian Boyle; Christopher Ross for Oisin Healy(inj.); Diarmuid O’Connor, Oisín Ferris, Jack Galway, Shay Murphy & Jamie O Carroll. After the game Joe Costello, Coaching Officer Kerry County Board, presented the Shield to winning Captain, Luke Kennelly, and the “Man of the Match” award to Luke Rochford. Team Management John Hennessy, Mikey Boyle, Padraig Harrington & William Quinlan. Well done to everyone. Senior Football: Our Senior footballers clinched promotion to Division 4 of the Credit Union sponsored County Senior Football League when they defeated Asdee at home on Saturday evening last. The game was played in awful weather conditions and Asdee opened the brighter and led by three points after ten minutes. Adam Segal opened the scoring for Ballyduff with a point and when Johnny O’Regan scored a cracking goal to give Ballyduff the lead that they never surrendered Ballyduff had the assistance of the wind in the second half and goals from Adam Segal and Jack Farrell put the game beyond Asdee’s reach. So after eight years in Division 5 we have climbed out of it and can look forward to Division 4 football next season. Ballyduff team: Kevin O’Connor; Michael Hussey, Paul O’Carroll, Thomas Slattery; Kyle O’Connor, Pádraig Walsh, Pádraig Slattery; Seán Costello, Adam Segal; Aodhán Curley, David Goulding, Johnny O’Regan; Anthony Kavanagh, Kevin Goulding, Jack Farrell. Buses leaving both villages at 11.30 a.m. KILFLYNN ENCHANTED FAIRY FESTIVAL With a yellow warning forecasted on Friday evening to Saturday evening, the committee examined some of the ground damage evident after Thursday night’s/ Friday mornings rain, with safety of the visitors, stall holders, entertainers and volunteers and taking into consideration the damage that could be done to parking facilities and fairy trail, with a heavy heart, they have made a very difficult decision that they postponed last weekend’s festival and reschedule for Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of August. We know you have been so disappointed about the decision the fairies made. COUNTY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP The Crotta Senior hurlers got their Garvey’s SuperValu Senior Hurling Championship 2022 campaign off to a winning start with a victory over Ballyheigue in Group 3 Round 1 On Friday, 24th June at Austin Stack Park, on the final score line of 2-16 to 1-10. Ten points in total from the long-serving Kerry star Shane Nolan (including four from play) was, unquestionably, a match-winning contribution, with a two-goal blast in the second quarter from full-forward Declan O’Donoghue, also playing a pivotal role in Crotta’s virtually untroubled passage to their first championship victory of the season. While the likes of Ryan McElligott, Rory Mahony who was making his Senior Championship debut and Sean Weir were also consistently solid for the winners, Nolan’s leadership throughout, and O’Donoghue’s ruthlessness when he got his opportunities, were the proverbial rocks on which the Ballyheigue challenge perished on. The green and red lads led at interval break by 2-8 to 1-5. Crotta play Lixnaw in Round 2 on Sunday 3rd July at 1.30p.m in Austin Stack’s Park, Tralee Please note tickets must be pre-purchased. Before the start of the war, the Royal Navy commenced a recruitment campaign. Captain Jeringham visited the coastal ports of Tarbert, Kilrush, Carrigaholt and Galway and by early1854 he had enlisted 252 men. The Kerry Evening Post of 17 February 1855 reported that the siege of Sevastopol where many Kerrymen were fighting was at a standstill. There were reports of the difficulty of getting medical supplies through to the sick troops, many of whom were ravaged by cholera. Lord Raglan, the Allied Commander had authorised the authorities in Balaclava to provide tea for sick soldiers upon their arrival in the town. It is estimated that more than 30,000 Irish soldiers served in the war while 7,000 died during the campaign. Most of the British army’s 21,000 deaths were caused not by battle action but from disease and sickness. This was the first war in which the Victoria Cross, Britain’s highest medal for bravery was awarded and Irish born soldiers and sailors won 28 such medals. Although the British Government hailed the end of the war as a great victory, many communities in Ireland were devastated by the high casualty numbers. A Tarbert man who survived the war and lived to the ripe old age of 95 was Patrick Brennan who had enlisted in the Royal Horse Artillery which was in the thick of the action at Sevastopol and Balaclava. He died in January 1916 and was buried in Kilnaughtin cemetery. Crimea, internationally recognised as part of Ukraine was invaded and annexed by Putin’s Russia in 2014.

LIXNAW COMMUNITY GAMES Lixnaw Community Games were well represented this past weekend at the County Community Games Finals at An Riocht Track, Castleisland. A large number of children participated in both track and field events, from sprints to long distance races, relays, javelin and long puck competitions. It must be said, that despite torrential rain and winds (which resulted in the early retirement of our gazebo), the children showed true grit and determination in their chosen events. Standing on the track in the pouring rain, waiting for their heat, semi-final or final to commence, showed some resilience. No matter what stage they progressed to, they did it well. Thanks, must also go to the parents for supporting them, it was much appreciated. LISTOWEL ATHLETIC CLUB

Its National Championship time, the highlight of the athletic year, what our athletes have being training for since last October and since they have joined the club. Over the weekend it was the National Seniors in Santry. Unfortunately, the weather was not for athletic liking with a strong head wind in the home straight making life very tough. To medal in a championship is an achievement but to medal in a National Senior level is what dreams are made of and what each athlete strives for. Lios Tuathail AC are more than proud of our 4x100m Relay Ladies team of Sinead Hunt, Rebecca Falvey, Rachel Neylon and Megan Lynch who won our first National medal in a long time with a solid Silver Medal in the National final…… and there is more to come. Relays is a team effort and this is a great sign of the club to produce a team at senior level with the high fall out rate of teenagers in sport. Our club is growing and this result shows the hard work through the years have come to fruition. Team captain Sinead Hunt, is a prime example of staying with a sport that she loves, not winning national medals but being always present, always willing to put her best foot forward, always believing and now Sinead has a National Senior medal to her name. This is what Club athletics is all about. Keep believing. We must say well done to the club coaches who has an input with the these athletes throughout the years. Margaret oNeill and Brendan Cullen have being main stays of the club for many years. They had these girls from U8s and led the foundation of success seen today. This cannot go unnoticed and is a testament for their hard work through the last 10 years. Well done to Club coach Kevin Lynch, who has worked with these girls for the past year and have taken them to this national title. Overall, a great club success. The weekend started with Mollie oRiordan competing in Tullamore at the Tailteann Schools Inter-provincial Championship 2022 representing Munster. Mollie is another club athlete growing in stature and is an all round athlete with focus on going to the next level. Mollie had a great experience with 3rd in the relay and 6th overall in the hurdles. A great experience for this young athlete in her upward curve. Juvenile age group Nationals will take place over the next 2 weekends and good luck to all athletes taking part. From Nationals to the Worlds, we wish Kevin Lynch the very best in the World Masters next week in Finland. Kevin will compete in the 400s, 4x100m and 4x400m. BEALE GAA

It was not our day as our seniors suffered another defeat in the County League, Division 4, on Saturday. Stretched for numbers, we came unstuck against a stronger Cromane side. We failed to score in the first half and trailed by 1-10 at the short whistle. The writing was on the wall for us when our opponents rattled the net again on the changeover. While we attempted to regroup, wecould not turn the game around and came away empty-handed. Thefinal score read: Beale 0-8, Cromane 3-13. With just one game left, we are hovering in the relegation zone. We now rank ninth on the table, with only four wins from ten games. It looks like a mustwin game when we travel to play Austin Stacks B on the weekend of July 10th. Beale juniors contest Division 4A of the North Kerry League. Our first-round game, against Tarbert, was postponed. We travel to Ballyduff on Tuesday. Throw in at 7.30. The other teams in this division are Moyvane and Clounmacon. Well done to the Beale lads and their North Kerry team mates on victory over West Kerry in the opening round of the County Under-21 Championship. Despite the wet conditions in Asdee on Monday evening, spectators were treated to a thrilling game of football. While North Kerry may have had a slight edge, little separated the teams. As the final whistle beckoned, the teams were level. North Kerry popped over two great points to win by 0-14 to 1-9.Beale’s Robert Stack lined out at midfield and Diarmuid O’Mahony was among the

Tickets are available online tarbertgaa.ie U11s County Go Games League Fixture: Our U11s play Knocknagoshel on Thursday 30th June in Knocknagoshel. U15 North Kerry League Result: Listowel 0-07, Tarbert 4-12. Our U15s had a very convincing win away to Listowel Emmets last Wednesday evening this evening 22nd June. Well done to all the players and coaches. County Senior Football League Result: Tarbert 0-10, Keel 0-05. Tarbert dominated this game from the first whistle until the 60th minute and were full value for this victory. The home side raced into a half time lead of Tarbert 0-06, Keel 0-02 with Keel only registering their 2 points in the 32nd and 34th minute of the first half. Andrew Doherty raised four white flags in the first half and Cillian Langan added two more to give Tarbert a four-point lead at the break. Keel reduced the lead to three points early in the 2nd half, but this was as close as they would come to Tarbert in the game. Mark Buckley scored in the 11th minute of the 2nd half and three superb points from the boot of Langan ensured Tarbert saw off the Keel challenge and recorded another victory in Division 4. Tarbert’s back line was solid throughout. In goals John Kennedy was commanding while in front of him Danny Wren, Kevin and Shane Enright were dominant throughout. Daniel O Connor had a fantastic game at corner back, breaking up attack after attack and pushing forward at every opportunity. Shea McDonnell had a controlling presence in the middle of the field, supplying excellent ball to the inside forwards, and indeed when Tarbert lost Shea for 10 minutes due a black card they struggled to cope without his leadership in the middle third. On a night where underfoot conditions were poor, it was all about work rate from the Tarbert forwards. Everyone of them contributed but it was Andrew Doherty and Cillian Langan that provided the scores to see off the Keel challenge and keep the Clubs hopes of promotion very much alive. This win keeps Tarbert in 4th place in Division 4. With only the top 3 teams gaining promotion to Division 3, it now come down to the final game of the season when Tarbert will play Ardfert in a winner takes all tie. Team and scorers, 1. John Kennedy, 2. Danny Wren, 3. Kevin Enright, 4. Daniel O Connor, 5. Gavin Breen, 6. Shane Enright, 7. Ben Sheehan, 8. Shea McDonnell, 9. Micheál Normile, 10. Danny Stack, 11. County Senior League Div 5 Rd 10 Ballylongford v Moyvane Date: Saturday 25th June 2022 - Time: 7pm - Venue: Moyvane Ballylongford started off this County Senior game in Moyvane with heavy rain, both teams played a very competitive game against each other with Niall Heaphy scoring the first point of the game in the first three minutes, there were more points flowing freely from Ballylongfords Michael Holly and Ciaran O’Connor. Ballylongford played well as a team, with some strategic marking coming from Tadgh McEllistrem, Sean Hanrahan and Joe McCarthy and some great support coming from Padraig O’Neill, Mike McEllistrem and Paddy O’Neill. As the game entered the second quarter Moyvane worked hard to level the game, but Adam Finucane, Jack Mulvihill and Conor Carmody kept on the pressure and Paudie Moroney was also kept busy and made some great saves that frustrated Moyvane from turning over any goal scoring opportunities. Towards the end of the first half of the game Ballylongford was leading the game by a single point. Half Time Score: Ballylongford 5pts v Moyvane 4pts In the second half Ballylongford found it difficult to hold back Moyvane who started to regain ground and scored three points in the third quarter of the game. Matt O ‘Connor and Jeremiah Tydings played some competitive football that helped Michael Holly and Joe McCarthy add two more points in the last quarter of the game. Moyvane began to regain possession and kept the scoreboard busy with the game ending with only three points between the two teams. Full Time Score: Ballylongford 7pts to Moyvane 10pts Team: 1. ST. PIO PRAYER GROUP The St. Pio Prayer Group will meet on Friday 1st July in St. Mary’s Church Listowel.

MEANING OF LIFE “Sure no one told us, we hadn’t a clue. We were pure eejits. We bought into the advertising hook, line and sinker.” Our chat was on how foolishly we allowed ourselves to be lured into smoking, back in the day. We thought it was so cool and glamorous but it brought only ill health. No one told us! Or maybe they tried but we wouldn’t listen!! It got me thinking about a bible verse in Roman’s 10 verse 14 which goes like this:”But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One Who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them?” No, this isn’t talking about the dangers of cigarette smoking or drugs or alcohol. It’s referring to people hearing the Good News of the Gospel, the true story of God’s gift of salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of His Beloved Son Jesus Christ. There’s a lot of information out there today. It is estimated that 105,000 words, along with pictures and videos reach the human eyes and ears every day. Most of it is useless to us. But that vital GOOD NEWS which affects every moment we are on this planet and right into eternity is the most important we will ever hear. Do we know that God the Father loves each and every person ever born and it’s His desire that we all spend eternity with Him.? 1 John 3:1:”See how very much our Father loves us for He calls us His children. And that is what we are!”

Do we know that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus was God’s way of securing our future with Him here and in the life hereafter? “And this is the testimony, God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has Life. He who does not have the Son does not have life.” Do we know that Jesus said of Himself “l am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”? John 14:6 Have we been told that God said “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.”? Surely the incredible words of John 3:16-17 need to be told to all the earth.....”For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “ I can’t imagine anything worse than reaching the end of life here on earth and facing into eternity without Jesus, not knowing the truth of the Good News. Let not our excuse be “Sure no one told us!!” Instead “Oh! that today you would listen to His Voice and harden not your hearts.” Psalm 95:7 If you require any further information you can call LCF at 087 9529907. Yours sincerely, Bridie (Dillon)Hartney

Programme for 1st July 2022: 6.45pm: Rosary & Confessions 7pm: Mass, Sermon and Benediction All are welcome. St. Pio’s message for July. “Therefore, arise once more, O Lord, and confirm in your grace, those whom you confided to me, and don’t permit any of them to be lost, deserting the nest. Oh God! Oh God! Don’t allow your inheritance to be lost.” - (Letters 111)
