CAROLINE’S DÓTERRA ESSENTIAL OILS
CAROLINE’S POD OF POSITIVITY
Welcome to my weekly column and my Pod of Positivity. It is here you will find little tips, tools and information that help us to maintain a life of health, wellness, love, and gratitude while using DóTerra’s essential oils in our daily routine.
As a certified DóTerra essential oil specialist I have been de lighted to help and support so many people and their families over the last three years on their essential oil journey through out North Kerry, West Limerick and beyond. I know how these oils can support the Body, the Mind and the Mood.
The Digestive System
This week we look at dóTerra’s ZenGest and Zendocine which are two powerful blends that give us the opportunity to influ ence the wellbeing of our digestive system.
ZenGest is a unique blend and contains ginger, peppermint, caraway and fennel essential oils which are beneficial for stom ach discomfort. With a pleasant aroma and a distinct liquorice flavor, this powerful blend can be used aromatically, topically, and internally. Whether you’re at home or need support on the go, ZenGest essential oil blend provides an aroma and sooth ing sensation to the skin that you’ll always want at your side. You can enjoy ZenGest in your water and hot drinks, as an oil blend to rub to the wrist points and over the tummy area or you can take as a soft gel. Many of my Pod Members like to add 1 – 2 drops of ZenGest to tea after large or heavy meals as well as taking before they set out on a road trip or flight to soothe the systems.
Zendocrine is composed of essential oils such as Rosemary, Cilantro, and Juniper Berry, which are known for their detoxi fying properties, and other essentials oils like Tangerine and Geranium, which have purifying effects against unhealthy sub stances. When combined, these essential oils work together to create a blend that rids the body of toxins and free radicals, while supporting the healthy function of many of the body’s vital organs, including the liver, colon, kidneys, lungs, and skin. Zendocrine is the go-to oil for those looking to begin a lifestyle change. Use Zendocrine daily by adding to a glass of water to help cleanse and support the body’s systems. Zendocrine is herbaceous, pungent and floral. Many of my Pod Members like to diffuse Zendocrine daily and apply to the bottoms of the feet and abdomen for a relaxing massage. These oils are a natural solution to care for our needs and our family’s health needs and they can support us with many of the following that we can experience from time to time, such as: Anxiety Issues, Digestive Support, Sleep Assist, Muscle Care, Stress Buster, Depression, Grief, Energy Boost, Skin Support, Immunity, Allergy Assist and so much more.
My Three – Way – Method to use dóTerra’s Essential Oils: Topically: Apply the oils onto your skin particularly on the pulse points and soles of the feet. Aromatically: Place two to three drops into a cold-water diffuser and diffuse the oils in your home, classroom, office space, salons or other places of work and business. Internally: Add the oils to your favourite food, waters and drinks, or simply by taking one drop daily un der the tongue to support your body and mind.
For extra positivity and well-being, check out my Facebook page; Caroline’s Pod of Positivity where we have informa tion and videos on all of DóTerra’s essential oils.
For consultations and appointments you can reach me on the number below to arrange a time / date that suits you and together we will start you on your journey with DóTerra’s essential oils.
Have a gentle week.

WAR OF INDEPENDENCE DVD LAUNCH
Relatives and local historians who participated in the DVD to mark the War of Independence in North Kerry at its recent launch by Donal Lenihan in Kerry Writers Centre in Listowel.
Front seated: Caitriona Dee, Kathleen Dee, Sheilanne Dee, Norma Sheehan. Back standing: Cara Trant, Iva Pocock, Tom Dillon, Declan Downey, Padraig Horan, Mairead McCarthy, Brian Quille, Margaret Sheehan, Ted Scanlon, Donal Lenihan, Terry O Sullivan, Jimmy Deenihan,Dan Devane, Mick McCabe and Charles Nolan.
A capacity attendance was present at Kerry Writers Centre in Listowel for the launch of the DVD on The War of Independence in North Kerry by former Irish International rugby player Donal Lenihan. Those present included relatives of the individuals who were directly involved in the War of Independence including Iva Pocock a great grandniece of Arthur Vickers and Terry O Sullivan a grandnephew of Tobias O Sullivan. Donal Lenihan referred to his grandfather Jack O Lenihan from Charles St., who was wrongfully sentenced to death for the shooting of District Inspector Tobias O Sullivan and would have been executed but for the truce being announced on July 11th 1921. According to Donal his grandfather was revered in North Kerry afterwards because, although he knew the identity of the 3 IRA men who shot the DI, he never revealed their identity to the authorities and was prepared to die for an action he had no involvement in. The DVD covers the period from the introduction of the Home Rule Bill in 1912 to the Truce on the 11th of July 1921. It was produced by Jimmy Deenihan, edited by Dan Devane, filmed by Charles Nolan with voice over by Joe Stack. You can order a DVD from Kerry Writers Centre at 06822212.

SAN RITA WELLNESS
Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well
Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column
Are you still as motivated now in October as you were in the in January?
Think back to the first week in January you were probably highly motivated and looking forward to all the changes you were going to make to improve your overall health and well being.
What changes did you make on the first week in January?
Are those changes still as relevant to you now in October?
• Making healthier food choices
• Becoming more active
• Drink lots of water
• Improving your sleep pattern
Are you still ticking all the boxes or have you eased off with your efforts?
Keeping a journal of the changes you are making is another way of keeping yourself ac countable and on track. Research proves that people who write and keep track of the above things feel far more confident and in control of their weight and wellness.
There are several ways to keep track of the changes that you need to keep doing such as writing into a diary/journal or using an app on your mobile phone .These all help to to be aware and accountable for the improvements you are making in your lifestyle.
Why is it good to write things down?
When you write things down it makes you more aware of exactly what you want to do. It also makes you more committed to following it through. You are also more organized and it puts a plan of action in place.
Does writing things down help you feel better?
It’s simply just writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal is a great idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.
How can writing things down help you be more committed?
By writing things down you can check or review your progress on whether you are achieving your goals. This should be done on a monthly, weekly and daily basis. Be realistic on the goals you want to achieve. Setting an unrealistic goal that does not fit into your own personal lifestyle may not be achievable and leave you feeling like you have failed.
What can we learn from writing things down?
By writing things down we can learn more about ourselves. We can identify our strengths and our weaknesses and be more aware of what we are good at and what we need to improve on. It would create an opportunity to identify where our threats lie and how we avoid them.
How can writing things down keep you accountable?
At San Rita Wellness we encourage our members to keep a tracker or journal of their daily food intake. By writing it down they are more aware, mindful and accountable. When our members check in for their weekly weigh in they are not alone accountable to someone else but they are also focused and motivated.
For extra support and for weekly accountability check us out on Facebook San Rita Well ness or sanritawellness.ie for details of our “In Person Meetings“, “At Home Service“ or our “One to One Service“
NB - Our weekly “In Person Meetings“ take place in Listowel Community Centre every Wednesday and in The Ballybunion Health and Leisure Centre every Thursday. Give us a call on Sandra 087 6718377 or Rita 087 1012174 Until next week, Sandra and Rita

CULTURE NIGHT
On Thursday the 22nd of September Ballylongford celebrated culture night. The famine plaque on what was formerly Bamburys storehouse was officially unveiled by local historian Donal O’Connor who gave a brilliant oration about the history associated with the area in the famine years. This was followed by a potato and spoon race where Ruben Dennehy beat his opponent from Listowel in the final. Rueben won the prize of 50 euro. Next was the main event the mashed potato eating contest in Finucane’s bar where two plates amounting to 18 scoops of mashed potato laden with butter and double cream were placed in front of the competitors. Who could finish the two plates first would be declared the winner. Jerry Carmody took off like a rocket and had his first plate gone in seconds before coming to a slow down due to the rich nature of the mash. Donal Leahy then pulled away from the rest of the competitors with ultimate ease. Paul Mulvihill finished in second place. Donal won the prize of 50 euro. The large crowd enjoyed a great night of music from Michael Horgan.
FRANCIS XAVIER (FX) XAVIER
Francis Xavier (FX) Martin (1922-2000) was born in Ballylongford 100 years ago last Sunday (2nd of Oc tober 1922). He was the youngest son among five sons and five daughters of Conor Martin, medical prac titioner, and Katherine Martin (née Fitzmaurice). Three of his four brothers also became priests, including Conor Martin, professor of ethics and politics at UCD, and Malachi Martin (an Franciscan priest, and a New York Times bestselling author, famed for performing exorcisms). He joined the Augustinian order of friars in 1941 and was ordained a priest in 1952; he later stated that his choice of religious order was motivated by a preference for the family atmosphere of the Augustinians over the militarism of the Jesuits. He had already embarked on the study of history, taking his BA degree in 1949 at UCD. His subsequent MA thesis (1952) earned him a travelling studentship from the NUI to Peterhouse, Cambridge. There he completed (1959) his doctoral thesis. Martin joined the staff of UCD as an assistant in history in 1959. He was elected chair of medieval history in 1962. F. X. Martin narrowly won the only vote that counted. His work in this role led it to become one of the finest departments of medieval history in the country. He also published many books on Irish history. In 1976, he was elected chairman of the Friends of Medieval Dublin, and this led him into the campaign for which he is best remembered: ‘Save Wood Quay’. Wood Quay was the proposed location for the erection of civic offices by Dublin Corporation, but also a very important archaeological site for the exploration of Viking settlements in Dublin. Martin led with determination in the campaign to preserve the site. Ultimately, he failed to prevent the erection of the civic offices, despite appeals to both the courts and public opinion, but he did gain an invaluable delay, which allowed excava tions on the site to be concluded. His campaign also highlighted the importance of preserving Ireland’s heritage and ensured that future discoveries would be treated differently. He also served as a member of the Irish Manuscripts Commission from August 1963 and was elected a member of the RIA in 1967. The Martin’s were a fascinating family and Malachi and FX both born in Ballylongford are known globally.

Beale had the stronger start and had already registered a score in the first minute fol lowed by a goal soon after. The Ballyduff boys steadied the ship and responded with a goal, and all this within the first five minutes. Our boys drove on from there and managed to score another 2 – 4 before Beale responded with a point. The second half was more evenly matched with both teams trading points but Ballyduff managed to hold their lead and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

DEATHS
There was widespread sadness in the parish when the news broke early on Sunday 25 September of the unexpected death of Jane Kiely, Main Street Tarbert and originally from Eades, Naas County Kildare. Jane who was aged 74 reposed at her home on Sunday and Monday. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Tarbert on Tuesday 27 September by Fr Eugene O’Cadhla, Ballyfer riter, cousin, Fathers John O’Connor and Philip O’Connell, Tarbert and Fr Tom Bardon, Kenagh, County Longford. St Mary’s Choir and the Kiely family performed the liturgical hymn service. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Shortly after qualifying as a hairdresser, Jane answered an adver tisement for a hairdresser in Ballybunion some 55 years ago. Here she met her future husband Denis Kiely from Tarbert and they were married in 1971. They remained happily married for 52 years in Tarbert rearing a family of six girls and one boy. Jane opened a hairdressing salon in Doonard Lower which she worked from 1984 to 1995. She always had a pleasant smile and was very considerate to the elderly whom she visited in their homes. A woman of many talents she worked for two years in Kostal, Abbeyfeale and worked for Tote Ireland at various racecourses during weekends. She was always upskilling and in 2004 she worked in administration in the IT Education Centre, Tralee ar ranging courses for teachers. There was a large attendance at her funeral, testimony to the esteem in which she and her family were held. Sympathy of the community is extended to her husband Denis, her children Denise, Oonagh, Aisling, Claire, Deirdre, Denis and Vivienne, 15 grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.
Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr John O’Connor on Saturday 1 October in St Mary’s Church Tarbert for the late Bernadette Webbe (née McDonnell,) Dooncaha, Tarbert and late of Stoke on Trent, Eng land. Bernadette, daughter of the late Billie and Rose McDonnell, (née Cregan) died on 11 February after celebrating her 46th. birthday. She had bravely fought a long 15 - year battle with cancer. After the Requiem Mass her cremated remains were interred in the adjoining cemetery with her parents Billie and Rose. Sympathy of the community is again extended to her husband John, her daughters Abbie and Cara, brothers Alfred and Michael in Tarbert, to her sisters Mary Bridget and Roseanne and to her extended family.
The death also took place of Patricia Keenaghan (née Cunniffe) of Ferbane, County Offaly and late of Doonard Crescent, Tarbert. Patricia who was aged 80 died on Saturday 1 October at Ferbane Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her late husband Ollie who died on 8 June last. She reposed at her home on Sunday 2 October and Requiem Mass took place on Monday 3 October at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Ferbane followed by interment in Kilrehan Cemetery with her husband Ollie. In 1970 with the commissioning of Tarbert Power Station she and Ollie who was on the ESB staff moved to take up residence in the new ESB staff houses at Doonard Crescent, Tarbert. Here they reared a family of three boys and a girl who all attended the local schools. Ollie retired from the ESB in 2000 and having sold his house at No.16 Doonard Crescent he and Patricia returned to Ferbane where they were both born and reared. Sympathy of the community is again extended to the family, to Audrey, Brendan, Declan and Barry and their Tarbert friends and neighbours.

BEALE GAA
Our juniors travelled to Knockanure to take on Duagh in the long- awaited North Kerry final. But we turned it around and went in at the interval on level terms on four points apiece.
We drove on for there and lead by 1-6 to 0-7 going into the last quarter. Duagh attempted to fight back but we held firm, and the final score was in our favour, 1-9 to 0-8. Congratula tions to Conor Keane of Clieveragh Listowel on his win! Everyone in the club wishes Conor the very best with many years of happy and safe motoring ahead. This initiative has been a huge success for the club selling all tickets available and raising much needed funds for the development of juvenile playing facilities as well as improving the existing ones. The club would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket or helped support this in any way. Another big thank you to those business that allowed us sell tickets on their premises - these were McCarthys Bar in Finuge, Foleys Shop, Stacks Shop, The Filling Station, Railway Bar, Dew Drop Bar, The Post Office, JJ Walsh’s Butchers and Woodview Vets - all in Lixnaw. Also, Brosnans Bar Market Street, Garvey’s SuperValu and Larry Buckley Butchers in Listowel, along with Powers Shop in Abbeydorney. Club officers will be working in the background to get the best value for these proceeds and to maximise the benefit for the club and our community.
FINUGE/ST SENANS LADIES: Sunday was a huge day for the Senior Ladies team as they contested their first senior county championship final in only their sec ond year as a senior team! The vastly experienced Southern Gaels provided the opposition and what a day it turned out to be. Getting off to a great start, SG fought back and only a few points separated the sides at any time throughout. FSS took the lead late on only for SGs to peg it back and the teams finished level at normal time. Extra time was then played and again the teams finished level. So, it came down to free kicks and again they were level after the round of five kicks. Then sudden death was played out and Southern Gaels kicked over the winner after a FSS miss and so took the title. The team and everyone associated should be really proud of their achievements. Well done ladies on a fantastic year and providing everyone with a really great final - we are eagerly looking forward to next year already!
U15: Our boys played the McElligott Oils of Asdee sponsored North Kerry League Division 1 Final against Listowel last Sunday in Ballylongford. Listowel got off to the right start with an early goal and led at halftime 2-07 to 1-08. However, our boys battled really hard in the second half and had it level with a few minutes remaining. Unfortunately, Listowel would kick the winning point and take the title by the slimmest margin with the game finishing Finuge 2-10, Listowel 2-11. Our boys still have the championship to look forward to, having received a bye in the first round. Teams remaining are Finuge, St Sen ans, Ballyduff and the winners of Tarbert V Listowel. The final of this competi tion is slated for the 30th of October.
U13: The U13s are training and preparing for their North Kerry Championship final after their win over St Senans in the semi-final. The final for the Tommy Madden Cup against Listowel will be played on Sunday the 23rd of October at 12pm in Coolard.
FEALE RANGERS: After claiming three wins from three games in the group stages, Rangers are into the County Championship quarterfinal against Austin Stacks. This game will be played this Saturday at 5:30pm in Austin Stack Park. The best of luck to Feale Rangers and to our representative Conor O’Keeffe who continues to play really well.

MEANING OF LIFE
Scripture tells me that God’s love is unfailing and unshakable.
We were chatting about pain and loss and the idea that God uses sickness and suffering to punish us for our wrongdoings.
Our conversation got me thinking about a time in my own life when there was an inbuilt or drilled in thinking system in me which told me that God put us on earth solely for hardship and suffering.
The truth is l got it very wrong. Many people got it very wrong.
I heard a lot of fake news back then before l came to know the One, True and Living God of the bible even a little.
Creation is broken.
Natural disasters, disease and famine exist be cause of the world’s brokenness, not because of the judgement of God. We live in an imperfect world, where the violence, injustice and selfish ness of people causes suffering, sickness and death.
It’s not punishment from God. God is not a God of hate. He is a God of love.
In Isaiah 54:10 l read “For the mountains shall depart from you and the hills be removed yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor shall My covenant of peace be removed says the Lord who loves you.”
Scripture is the true story of God’s love for us. Jeremiah 9:24 puts it like this “l am the Lord, ex ercising lovingkindness, judgement and right eousness in the earth, for in these l delight.”
And in the book of Exodus 34:6 the Lord describes Himself saying “the Lord, the Lord a God merci ful and gracious, slow to anger and abound ing in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping mercy to thousands.....”
It is so incredibly important to know that God is for us and not against us. Roman’s 8:31. Every thing in life depends on this truth.
