SAN RITA WELLNESS
Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well
It’s the end of November and Christmas is getting closer day by day. Bills are going up and the rain is pouring down BUT there is nothing we can do about it and we should not let that cast an overall negative cloud on our everyday life if we can at all.
Positivity vs Negativity
So let’s get more positive It is well proven that “ What we think, determines how we feel and how we feel determines what we do“ so it does really all start with our thoughts.
Think back over the past week and answer these questions yourself : What went well for you this past week? (Food choices, Activity, Weekend)
How did you make that happen? (Planned ahead, Made the time) How did that help you? (Felt in control, More organized) How did it make you feel? (Happy, Focused, In Control) Will you continue doing the same for this week?
What are your Challenges?
We all face a challenging time, whether it’s night time or the weekends etc. Think about your own challenges that you came up against recently on your Weightloss and Wellness journey.
What were the factors leading up to it? (Weather, Feeling fed up etc) How did that leave you feeling? (Sad, Stressed)
How did you react? (Eat, Eat and Eat)
How did you feel then? (Out of Control, Off Track)
If you were faced with the same challenges again this week How could you react differently? Would it make a difference to how you feel?
When you find yourself struggling it’s important to think positive to keep yourself inspired and to keep trying.
For example: You could look back on how far you have come from when you first started. Recognise the changes you feel and see in yourself. As we know nothing is ever just “Black and White“ it is important to look at the “Grey“ area in between.
For example: Imagine you have eaten something unplanned for, it’s very easy to think nega tively then and say to yourself “ I have ruined the day now “ feel bad about it and go on to eat more and then a bad day can lead to another bad day.
So the “Grey“ area in this case would be to think more positively and say to yourself “ Well it’s only one thing or one day, I can still pull this back “We should think and talk to ourselves like we would to a friend.
What would you say to a friend? (Start afresh tomorrow, You can do this) Remember at the end of the day, we can be our own best friend or our own worst enemy. Whatever news we get it is up to ourselves whether we take it as a Positive or a Negative. That’s your choice. We will leave you with this Positive thought .
“Don’t wait until you have reached your goal to be proud of yourself, be proud of every step you take towards reaching your goal“

BALLYBUNION CHRISTMAS LIGHTS APPEAL
Ballybunion Lights need your help, the lights will give the town a well-deserved lift, raising spirits, creating a posi tive atmosphere abou]t the place and making Ballybunion an enjoyable place for residents and visitors alike. The Ballybunion Community Forum have invested annually in a continuous replacement policy for the upgrading of the Town Lights due to the environment in town over the Christmas period. This is costly and requires continuous investment in the cables and bulbs. There is the ongoing cost of insurance, the hire of a cherry picker (Hoist), the cost of erecting the lights and trees, plus a legacy debt to the ESB (believed to be around €3,200), all of which must be covered. We are initiating this GoFundMe appeal to the townspeople and businesses of Ballybunion. With this support Ballybunion will have the Lights, seasonal appearance and Christmas Spirit as usual. A word of thanks to all the performers, including the Yershova sisters from the Ukraine, who took part on the night in a very enjoyable show which netted €3,640 for the Association. A particular word of thanks to Kitty McElligott and her daughter Annette for their help and assistance.
TARBERT THEATRE PLAYERS
There was a full house in Tarbert Community Centre when the curtain went up on Friday night’s performance of ‘Nobody’s Talk ing to Me’, a comedy in two acts from the pen of Tommy Mar ren, staged by Tarbert Theatre Players. It is a play with a lot of dialogue, which made the opening scene in which ‘the happy couple’ are celebrating their 40th. Wedding Anniversary a gem. Maggie and Mattie have not spoken to each other for over ten years, so for over 5 minutes not a word is spoken- the interplay from both with the boiling kettle on the kitchen range is the only sound and communication between them.
Well done to the cast for a flawless, word -perfect performance which merited a standing ovation from the audience. This is a performance which deserves an extended run at a later date or a wider audience in a venue like St John’s in Listowel and should compete in a Drama Festival. The hard working cast included Tom Stack, Noelle McGibney, Shane Wall, Ciara Shine, Niamh Wall, Jerry O’Connell, Aine Enright and Pádraig O’Connor. The very effective stage director was Cormac Wall while the very fine set was the work of P. J. Normile and comhghairdeas also to the backroom helpers. Hopefully Maggie will have finished knitting a pair of wool socks for husband Mattie in time for Christmas.
While ‘Nobody’s Talking to Me’ was a sure cure for the blues, I am sure everybody was talking about a great performance all round over three nights from Tarbert Theatre Players.

LENAMORE ROVERS
Lenamore are back to winning ways with a really hard fought victory over Kil lorglin C. In a very close first half, the deadlock could not be broken. Lenamore had the better possession playing some very good soccer, but found it hard to break the Killorglin offside trap. The hosts kept Killorglin down to only a couple of chances which were well dealt with by Tommy Barrett in the Len amore goal. Lenamore opened brightly in the second. Conor Hogan won the ball in the middle, playing to the feet of Mikey Nolan, who duely returned it for Hogan to thread it though to Michael Holly. The Lenamore winger beat the last defender on his run into the box and hammered it into the top corner past the diving keeper, making it 1-0. Both teams had chances in the second half in what was a very good game by two footballing teams. Both keepers were forced into making saves, the best of which was a rasping free kick that the Killorglin keeper tipped around the post, diving down to his left. It remained 1-0 mainly thanks to a super performance from Lenamore Captain Ciaran O Connor who lead from the back in another man of the match showing. A special mention for Adam Mahony who was in for the injured Brion Cregan. Adam ran so hard in the middle of the park, and was onto every loose ball. A thoroughly excellent team performance. The church gate collection raised €344 last weekend. The club launched its Xmas Raffle fundraiser this week, loads of prizes, €5 per ticket.
The defibrillator is live and available on the clubhouse. There is a CFR course on in Knockanure Dec 3rd at 12 noon. Contact 087 7720302 for more information. Follow the club Facebook page for updates.

MEANING OF LIFE
“It’s the not knowing that’s the problem. You’re wondering and pondering and imagin ing all kinds of things but you don’t know for sure. There’s nothing worse than waiting..... not knowing...”
We were chatting about waiting for blood test results. As always, the conversation went on to waiting for various health treatments, whether they would work or not, and all the anxiety that waiting can cause, the vulnerability of being sus pended as it were in waiting mode and the not knowing how long before there’s a definite clear positive answer. Haven’t we all been there?
It got me thinking. Sometimes we want micro wave answers to life’s problems.
But that’s not realistic. I will refer to a bible verse in Ecclesiastes chapter 3: verse 1 because I try (and very often fail) to use the Word of God as my manual for living. The verse is “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.” followed by 8 further verses well worth a read.
I would love to say that in difficult times, l live by psalm 130 verse 5 which reads “l wait for the Lord, my whole being waits and in His Word
l put my hope.” And also that l fully and com pletely at all times trust my Lord when He says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Here’s a verse that just blows my mind. It tells me that the Lord, the Creator of universe and the giver of all life has chosen to WAIT for us, He waits for us to turn to Him so that He can show us His mercy and love. Isaiah 30:18 says “Therefore the Lord will wait that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.”
Regardless of how unpredictable life’s events are, we have the blessed assurance that we are incred ibly loved by our Heavenly Father. So great is His love that He allowed His Beloved Son Jesus to die in our place so that by accepting Him as our Lord and Saviour we have new life on earth right now and the absolute guarantee of spending eternity with Him. This is the true knowledge worth wait ing for.
