LIXNAW GAA OFFICIAL OPENING OF THEIR COMMUNITY ASTROTURF PITCH &

BALL WALL THIS EASTER SUNDAY

Lixnaw GAA are issuing an open invitation to Hermitage Park for the Official Opening of their Astroturf Pitch & Ball Wall on Easter Sunday at 1.30pm.

Lixnaw GAA are delighted to announce the official opening of the recent development of an Astroturf pitch and Ball Wall by Minister of Education, Norma Foley T.D. This opening will take place at 1.30pm on Easter Sunday 9th of April.

This exciting project is something Lixnaw GAA had been craving for quite some time. This idea re-emerged from the increased use of the hurling grounds and surrounding perimeter as a walkway during the lockdown periods of 2020. The GAA grounds became a real focal point for the community, and we felt it was vital to enhance our facilities and provide a space that would cater for the young and old in the parish. A committee was formed in January 2021 to oversee the initial project design and pursue sources of funding in order to develop a facility which could be utilised by all members of the community.

The club and development committee are very grateful for the support they received from a variety of sources which ensured this project came to fruition. This development received funding from four principal funding sources, a combination of local community support, government agencies at both national and local level and Cumann Luthcleas Gael. The incredible response we received from our Car Raffle in 2021 provided the initial encouragement and impetus while the funding received via the Sports Capital Funding scheme, Leader/NEKWD and the Munster Council of the GAA enabled the project to proceed.

The Astroturf Pitch and Ball Wall, complete with perimeter walkway, fencing and floodlighting has already proven to be extremely beneficial to Lixnaw GAA and the many organisations and community members that frequent it. We are looking forward to celebrating this momentous occasion surrounded by community members and supporters from near and far.

CAROLINE’S DÓTERRA ESSENTIAL OILS

CAROLINE’S POD OF POSITIVITY

Welcome to my weekly column. My name is Caroline and as a certified DóTERRA essential oil specialist I have been delighted to help, guide and support so many people along with their friends and families on their essential oil journey throughout North Kerry and West Limerick over the last three years. I know how these Essential Oils can support the Body, the Mind and the Mood and each week I’ll be sharing lots of tips and information on Self-Care, Wellness, Love and Gratitude when using your DóTerras essential oils as part of your every day routine.

Tummy Upset – Stomach Discomfort –Digestive Problems…

I’ve an Oil for that!

This week’s I want to focus on dóTerra’s DigestZen essential oil or otherwise known as ZenGest. ZenGest is a definite oil friend to all of us in our home and I am certain it will be used by many over the course of the weekend when we indulge into Easter treats! ZenGest is known as the body balancing oil or the tummy tamer blend. I always like to keep a roller bottle pre-blended with some fractionated coconut oil in each of the bathrooms just in case anyone is feeling unwell, queasy or is experiencing butterflies in the tummy due to feelings of anxiety. We apply the ZenGest to our wrist points, behind our ears, the back of the neck and over our tummy area.

This essential oil relieves constipation, eases bloating, relieves indigestion and is a powerful assistant in the treatment of IBS and Chron’s disease. It may also help to ease / stop diarrhoea and vomiting and relieve symptoms of food poisoning when taken in a small amount of water as directed.

ZenGest is infused with Ginger, Fennel, Coriander, Tarragon, Anise, Caraway and Peppermint essential oils which combine to help ease stomach discomfort, maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract and aid in digestion. ZenGest can be used aromatically, topically, and internally, and for those of you who are prone to car travel sickness it is the number one go-to essential oil in diminishing feelings of queasiness and stomach upset.

DóTerra’s top tip for anyone who experiences digestive discomfort is to add one drop of ZenGest to 4oz of water and drink before meals. You can also rub some ZenGest behind the ears and on the wrist points before long car journeys or carry your pre-blended roller bottle with you! Rub on to the tops of the big toes to support sinuses. ZenGest can be bought on its own and is also included in the Family Essentials Kit and the Home Essentials Kit to get you started on your journey of health and wellbeing.

You can check out my Facebook page Caroline’s Pod of Positivity or reach me on the number below for more information on getting and using your DóTERRA’S Essential Oils. To book a consultation or an oil experience appointment you can reach me on the number and together we will start you on your journey of health and wellness using the oils with my full support and guidance.

My Three Way Method Using DóTerras Oils:

Topically: Apply the oils onto your skin particularly on the pulse points and soles of the feet. Aromatically: Place two to three drops into a cold-water diffuser and diffuse the oils in your home, classroom, office space, salons or other places of work and business. Internally: Add the oils to your favourite food, waters and drinks, or simply by taking one drop daily under the tongue to support your body and mind.

DóTERRA knows that essential oils must be pure and potent in order to best fulfill the needs of those that use them. Too often, essential oils available for purchase contain contaminants and filler substances that weaken the essential oil’s effectiveness. With the sole purpose to provide pure and potent essential oils, doTERRA ensures that their oils are free of harmful contaminants and fillers through the CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade™ protocol. We are so fortunate that DōTerra now have a manufacturing plant in Blarney Business Park in County Cork and will become a household name in Ireland by the year end.

Until next time, I wish you all a Very Happy Easter.

FDC: DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH LIFE COVER YOU REALLY HAVE NOW?

The death of a breadwinner in a family is financially catastrophic and at the age most people start families, the price of insuring against it is very small. Taking out Life Assurance should be a no-brainer, but we all know many people who don’t. The key need met by family life protection is the replacement of the income of the heads of the household in the event of premature death.

People know that they need life assurance, but they just can’t seem to get around to sorting it out. It also seems that another reason for the gap in personal protection is that individuals believe they are already covered adequately, and therefore do not require any further protection. In reality, that couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Many of us do not know how much cover we really have or exactly what is covered in our existing policies, let alone look to challenge whether the level of cover amounts to enough. This is especially the case for families who are financially dependent (full or in part) on a parent.

Of course, what constitutes ‘enough’ is highly subjective. However, the reality that many people are falling short of receiving adequate financial support during these unforeseen times should encourage all of us to at least review our current protection plans and check that we have enough cover in place to ensure our longer-term financial well-being. Could your family cope with a sudden loss of income in the event of illness or death?

The realisation that many of us couldn’t is why we protect our family’s financial future with life insurance. But new research suggests that too few of us are doing it, leaving us just months away from not being able to pay the bills. When it comes to protecting ourselves and our loved ones financially, Ireland is under-covered.

One in two adults in Ireland don’t have life cover at all. That means 360,000 families are without cover and almost half a million children in Ireland have parents with no life cover.

Two-in-five claim their household would struggle financially should their income be lost through death, illness or injury. Working adults say they could only survive for six months on average in the event of a death, an illness or injury.

One in every two people put the issue of family protection on the long finger as they have just not thought about life insurance, or have not got around to it, or they don’t think they need cover. Of course, no one likes to think about death and illness, even though everyone knows someone who has had a serious illness or death in their family.

Ironically, by taking out a policy that protects your family in the event of death or serious illness, you are giving yourself peace of mind in the here and now. Less than half of women in Ireland have some form of financial protection, compared with two thirds of men.

The figures hold, not just for life assurance, but for specified illness cover (which protects you in the event of a specified illness such as cancer, heart attack or stroke) and income protection (which protects you in the event of any illness that keeps you from work).

It’s worrying to see such a stark lack of financial protection for women in Ireland. It’s important that women take time to assess their own financial protection needs and what they can do to protect themselves and their family against any unexpected events.

Very often this is forgotten about or even delayed due to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We need to make women in Ireland more aware of the real benefits of life and specified illness cover, as it can be a lifeline for them and their families in times of difficulty.

Many of us hold mortgage protection only, paying off a mortgage in the event of death. So basically, you are insuring the bank, or at least, the bricks and mortar. You are not protecting your family.

One of the biggest savings a household with a home loan can make is to switch to a better-value mortgage protection policy. Yet few people, if any, move provider. In an ideal world, everyone would have ticked all the relevant financial boxes at each stage of their life cycle. However, at FDC Financial Services, we recognise that this is not always the case! The good news is that it’s never too late to take control.

SAN RITA WELLNESS

Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well

Our San Rita Wellness members often say that it’s hard to stay focused during different times of the year and it is very easy to get side tracked with different occasions like Easter etc.. Now as we are into a new month, April can be an ideal time to look forward and start afresh and look forward to the Summer ahead. We know it may not feel like it but it is coming and we want you to stop and think about how you want to LOOK and how you want to FEEL then.

COULD or SHOULD

Do you need to change gears with how you are doing things at the moment?

We want you to think about what Could you do rather than what Should you do. Why do you think we are saying this?

The implications of the word should implies that either “you don’t want“ to do it or you are doing it just for the “benefit of someone else“. So therefore it can be guilt inducing . Guilt is not and never will be a great motivator, if anything it could work against you and not for you. On the other hand the word could implies possibilities , it feels positive and it feels like something “you want to do“. Language is powerful and telling ourselves “ I can’t do it“ means “I won’t do it “. On the other hand telling ourselves “Yes I can do it“ means “Yes I will do it“.

STOP - START - CONTINUE - CHANGE

We want to ask you 4 questions today that we know only YOU have the answers to .

Q. What could you STOP doing?

For example: Guessing the calories in your food choices, Mindless snacking etc. What do you think the benefit for you would be if if you stopped the above?

Q. What could you START doing?

For example: Keeping a track of your calories and staying within your allowance etc. What do you think the benefit for you would be if you started the above ?

How can you make that start?

Keep your diary or your journal nearby, Plan your meals in advance, Plan how and when you use you calorie allowance to the best of your advantage.

Q. What do you need to CONTINUE doing?

For example: Keep up your activity that you enjoy, have the right foods in the house , why not join San Rita Wellness for weekly accountability, support and motivation with like minded people. Our San Rita Wellness weekly meetings are personal, informative , fun and in a group support setting.

Q. What could you CHANGE for the better?

For example: Limit your alcohol to the weekends, Save your treat allowance for the time you need them most. Change around your foods and try new recipes.

READY FOR ROAD

We hope you are all revved up now and ready to go. Your next destination is up to you now that you are in the driving seat. So always remember the smaller the change the more likely we are to keep it going. So ask yourself each week what you can STOP, START, CONTINUE and CHANGE.

So safe motoring on your wellness journey.

For extra support and for weekly accountability check us out on Facebook San Rita Wellness or sanritawellness.ie for details of our “In Person Meetings“, “At Home Service“ or our “One to One Service“.

LIXNAW COMMUNITY GAMES

Cross-Country:

A great day’s running was had in Beaufort last Sunday for our Lixnaw athletes. First off was Isabelle Larkin, who ran her first race this season. Despite a run of injuries recently, Isabelle was well up the field in what was a stacked U.12, 500m race. A name to watch out for yet.

Also in the U.12 was Tia Falvey, who secured a great 5th place and in doing so, brought home a county medal. Tia now goes on to represent the Kerry team at the Nationals. Next up in the U.12 Boys, 500m was Eamon Kennelly, who ran superbly, coming home in 7th place. Well done.

The U.14 Boys 700m race saw Paddy Larkin run a very steady race, holding his position from the start, and ensuring he was placed 5th also, to win a second County medal for the parish. Paddy now qualifies for the Nationals as part of the Kerry team.

The final race of the day was the U.13, 1200m race, in which Donnacha Quilter led from the start and held off any challenges along the way. Donnacha ran a great race to win Gold for Lixnaw. He now joins both Paddy and Tia for the Nationals, which will be held in Gormanstown the weekend of the 27th and 28th May. We wish them every success. A great day for all 5 athletes who wore their Lixnaw Geansaí with pride. Lixnaw Abu.

The day has arrived at last, when the Community AstroTurf Pitch and Ballwall facility at Hermitage Park will be officially opened. Ms. Norma Foley, the Minister for Education and Skills will perform the formal opening of the facility next Sunday, Easter Sunday at 1.30pm.  The new facility combines an Astro-Turf Pitch, a Ballwall, a perimeter walkway, complete with perimeter fencing and floodlighting. It has been used and really enjoyed by the various team panels, young and old, as well as by other clubs since November.

The new facility came to fruition due to the generous support of a Car Raffle by the local people in the parish and the wider community in 2021. BEALE GAA

Beale seniors succumbed to the challenge of Cromane in Ballybunion on Sunday in our second round County League game. We were first off the mark on the scoreboard and went ahead by three points in the opening quarter before our opponents hit back with a goal to draw level. They added a further point, and we trailed by just a point at the interval, 0-4 to 1-2.

The teams exchanged points on the changeover and Cromane added a further three without reply, as we failed to come to terms with the play. Our opponents found scores easier come by and we ended on the wrong side of the scoreline, 1-8 to 0-7. We travel to Mountcoal on Sunday for round 3 of the County League, Division 4.

Beale seniors travel to Renard for our first game of the Junior Championship. We await details. Other teams in our group are Knocknagoshel and Kilgarvan. Beale juniors play Knockanure in the first round of the North Kerry League, Division 4. Details to be confirmed. .

This week’s Beale Lotto took place on Sunday night in The Bunker Bar. Numbers drawn were 3, 11, 27 and 29. The Lotto jackpot was not won and there was one Match-3 winner. Congrats to MJ Caffrey, c/o Courtney’s Bar, on winning €100. The winner of 5 Free tickets was Emily Sugrue.

SENIOR: On a glorious Sunday afternoon, Ballylongford came to visit for round 2 of the county league. An open game saw Finuge lead 1-04 to 0-05 at halftime but in reality should have been further ahead. Jason Wallace was causing all kinds of trouble for Bally every time he ran at them, along with some great runs from deep by the likes of Aidan O’Brien. With the aid of the slight breeze in the second half, Finuge pushed on to win the game 2-14 to 1-09. This win keeps the team second in the table on three points, just one behind Lispole, with Duagh and Moyvane both on two points. Next game is this Sunday the 9th with an away match up against Duagh.

up and the game finished out at Finuge 4-05 to S/D/T/T 4-02. Next up for the U15s is an away trip to Spa this Wednesday evening, throw in is down for 7pm.

U13: The team had a busy week last week. First up was Listowel in round one played Wednesday which had been postponed. With no time to waste, it was on to round two on Sunday when the team were at home to Chruchill. This game proved a much better perfromance from the boys who held the initiative from the start and led the whole game to run out five points winners. Scoreline Finuge 2-11 to Churchill’s 1-09. County Senior Football League Division 4 Result: Tarbert 0-14 Keel 1-11. Tarbert travelled to Keel on Sunday 2nd April and came away with a hard fought draw on a score line of Tarbert 0-14 Keel 1-11. Keel got off to a perfect start with a goal almost directly following the throw in and then added another quick point. Andrew Doherty opened Tarbert’s scoring with an excellent point before a free from Cillian Langan settled Tarbert into the game. Two more points from Doherty and Langan levelled matters after 15 minutes, before a brilliantly won mark by Doherty then put Tarbert ahead for the first time. Another free from Langan was met by two frees from Keel to level matters again after twenty minutes. Gerald O’Sullivan responded with his opening point for Tarbert before midfielder Micheal Normile put Tarbert up two points as the first half was entering the final five minutes. Keel then had their period of dominance and one excellent long-range point was followed by a Keel free to leave matters level at half time.

Tarbert then started the second half with an O’Sullivan point and another free by Lanigan put Tarbert up two after five minutes. The Tarbert backs were now in control and another point from Doherty put them up three after ten minutes of the second half had gone. Keel won three frees in a row then to bring

them back to level scores once again and then Keel took the lead entering the final ten minutes with another long range point. Doherty for Tarbert and Keel then exchanged points and then Langan and Keel exchanged frees, to leave the sides level entering the final five minutes. Keel won another free with two minutes left and were working hard to hold onto victory with time almost up. Then Tarbert substitute, John Coolahan, broke through the Keel defence to score an excellent point to level the scores. The referee blew the whistle shortly afterwards in what was a very entertaining game of football.

MEANING OF LIFE

“You need to use the Eircode. It’s guaranteed to get you there. “

I had keyed the full address of my destination into the satnav, time and time again before l set off on my journey but all it kept showing on the screen was... no match found ...no match found.

In despair l rang my friend. “Use the Eircode” she said. “It’s guaranteed to get you there. That’s what it’s for.” I did and it worked!!!

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

Oh, most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven.

Blessed Mother of the Son of God; Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me you are my Mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succour me in my necessity (Mention your request here)

There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3 times). Amen

This prayer is never known to fail. It is to be said for 3 consecutive days. Publication on granting of the favour must be promised and done. T.C.

THE MIRACLE PRAYER

Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours.

This time I ask you this special one, (mention favour). Take it dear heart of Jesus and place it within your heart where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your own favour not mine. Amen.

Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never been known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. J.Mc

It got me thinking…We can spend days, weeks, years searching for a solution, waiting and pondering. Wishing for an answer ... that’s already there! We just need to find the truth and believe it.

It may confuse, surprise even offend people to hear that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He’s the Eircode as it were. The bible, the Word of God teaches that there is no other way to salvation than through Jesus. Acts 4:12 puts it like this; “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. “

In the Gospel of John, Jesus Himself tells us; “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one can come to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus is not A way, He is THE way as in the One and Only way. He is our Guarantee. Any other way comes up with no match found. But why is this the truth?

First of all, Jesus was chosen by God Himself to be the Saviour of the world, as 1 Peter 2:4 reveals. He was “rejected by men but chosen by God and precious.”

Jesus is the only One who has come down from Heaven and ascended there. John 3:13 says; ”No one has ascended to Heaven but He who came down from Heaven, that is the Son of Man who is in Heaven.” Guaranteed truth. He is the only person to have lived a perfect human life. Hebrews 4:15 says Jesus was “in all ways tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Guaranteed truth.

He is the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. 1Peter 3:18: ”For Christ died for sins, once for all, the Righteous (Christ) for the unrighteous(us) in order to bring you to God.” Guaranteed truth. He is the only man to have conquered death forever. John 11:25. Jesus said “I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, tho’ he die, yet shall he live.“ Guaranteed truth.

No one else can rightly claim these titles and truths. Our problem is that we are all born spiritually dead. Jesus is the solution to our problem. If we accept that, by His death and resurrection He purchased our salvation, we become spiritually alive. Problem solved.

No other religious leader died to purchase forgiveness for us. Jesus died in our place. John 10:9 says; “I am the door. If anyone enters by me He will be saved .....”

We need Jesus. He is our only hope and our absolute guarantee.
