BILL AND FRED PERFORM DANCE AT KERRY SCHOOLS

Elysia McMullen and Luisa Schmitz formed Bill and Fred Productions in 2020. They perform as Bill and Fred - a clown duo who merge dance, clowning, circus and theatre. They were in Kerry recently, bringing their show Bill and Fred’s Adventures to a number of schools. The performances were facilitated by Kerry County Council’s dancer in residence, Catherine Young. The residency is funded by Kerry County Council and the Arts Council and supported by Creative Ireland Kerry. “It’s really important that children have an opportunity to experience live performance by dance artists, as well as also getting a chance to dance and move themselves,” says Catherine Young. “I had seen Bill and Fred perform for a young audience in Limerick and I knew they would bring a show full of fun and energy to Kerry school children.” The schools visited were Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn and Presentation Primary School in Tralee and Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail in Listowel (pictured). Each school was treated to a performance and a dance workshop afterwards.

“It was engaging, interactive, funny, entertaining and had a little message too which was lovely and meaningful for the children,” says Helena Hennessy, Assistant Principal and Arts Coordinator at Presentation Primary, Tralee. “They loved it. They were talking about it for the rest of the day. They were asking me afterwards when would Bill and Fred be coming back!” “They were absolutely blown away by the dancing performance,” says Séana Ní Chuain, Principal at Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail. “We didn’t know what to expect, but the pupils thought they were brilliant and hadn’t seen anything as creative as it before. In my own house, my daughters told me they want to be dancers after seeing it!” “We were delighted to have Elysia and Luisa with us under the dancer in residence programme – this was a great opportunity for children to access free dance performance and learn about movement in a relaxed and fun-filled way,” says Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer with Kerry County Council. Kerry County Council have a number of artists residencies covering art forms such as dance, writing, and film funded by Kerry County Council and the Arts Council and supported by Creative Ireland Kerry. BALLYBUNION TIDY TOWNS

Ballybunion Tidy Towns would like to thank Kerry County Council for the latest grant funding awarded to us through the Community Activities Fund. This fund was initiated in 2021 to help volunteer organisations with their running costs. During the height of the COVID epidemic our Tidy Towns group, like so many volunteer organisations, was not able to carry out several of our annual fundraisers. The Community Activities Fund was meant to offset that fact and help cover some of these costs. The €1100 grant awarded Ballybunion Tidy Towns went a long way to covering the public liability and vehicle insurance that runs between €1200 and €1500 each year. Thank you so much to KCC for this support. Ballybunion Active Retirement would like to thank Kerry County Council for the latest grant funding awarded to us through the Community Activities Fund. This fund was initiated in 2021 to help volunteer organisations. The €500 grant awarded Active Retirement will go a long way to covering the cost of replacing the dishwasher at the Old Convent where our meetings are held. Thank you so much to KCC for this support.

The oils are a natural solution to care for our needs and our family’s health needs and they can support us with many of the following that we can experience from time to time, such as: Anxiety Issues, Digestive Support, Sleep Assist, Muscle Care, Stress Buster, Depression, Grief, Energy Boost, Skin Support, Immunity, Allergy Assist and so much more. For extra positivity and well-being, check out my Facebook page – Caroline’s Pod of Positivity where we have information and videos on all of DóTerra’s essential oils. RECORD AMOUNT OF TAX COLLECTED BY REVENUE DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC – FDC GROUP

By John Browne, FDC Group Limerick

The Revenue Commissioners have recently published their annual report for 2021. The report shows an exceptional year for Revenue. There was a record amount of tax and duty collected. despite the major economic disruptions due to the Covid- 19 pandemic, along with the major change to the trading relationship between Ireland and the UK. The Revenue also completed an overhaul of the Local Property Tax (LPT) system by introducing an up-to-date valuation period, the first revaluation since the LPT was introduced in 2013. Furthermore, they continued to play a big part in the delivery of the Covid-19 supports to businesses across the country. The net exchequer receipts of €67.5bn were up by 20% on 2020. According to Revenue chairman Niall Cody, in his commentary, the strong timely compliance rates across all taxes are indicative of a general acceptance of the importance of timely tax and duty compliance. He went on to state that they also show the positive engagement by taxpayers and tax practitioners during the year and their contribution to a strong culture of voluntary compliance, despite the difficulties faced by many of them. Brexit continued to bring challenges, especially in early 2021, to come to terms with the significant increase in the level of customs activity. Since January 1st last year, goods which once moved freely between Ireland and the UK are now subject to customs rules. These new trading arrangements are the biggest change for businesses in 30 years since the creation of the single market. To put it in context, the Revenue processed 27.1m import declarations in 2021 compared to just over 1m in 2020. The updated LPT regime has seen a substantial level of engagement and compliance by property owners in advance of the November 1st deadline in 2021 which has continued into 2022 with return compliance rates for this year at 90% and payment compliance at 95%. In 2021 also, the Revenue continued to make improvements to its online and digital services in order to make things more accessible and more timely for taxpayers. There were over 463,800 compliance interventions carried out yielding a record €1.388m along with a total of €30m raised from tax settlements with 86 taxpayers. The efficient collection of taxes and duties remains the primary role and focus of the Revenue. To this end, the stated aim is to strengthen the resources currently in place to continue delivering the core business by further investing in people and increasing the access to and use of real time data. While the figures in 2021 broke records, it is expected that Revenue activity levels will increase going forward so as to deliver similarly strong results this year and into the future. SAN RITA WELLNESS

Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well How’s things? That is like something Pat Shortt would say. There is also another saying “ Where there’s a Will, there’s a Way “ So today we are going to talk about YOUR “Will and Way“. Firstly how is your motivation now? Is it as strong as it was first day you decided to make some changes for a healthier you? If so, that’s brilliant. If not, then why not? Has it changed like the weather over the past few weeks ? Good days / not so good days. Well we know we have absolutely no control over the weather BUT we do have control of what we do and how we feel. Ask yourself What or where do you feel you have control over that is working for you? What or where do you feel you have less control where things might not be working as well for you ? Why am I doing this? We all have a reason “WHY“ we want to make changes. What was your “WHY“? Is it as important to you today as it was then, or maybe your WHY has changed over time. It is important to remember and keep your “ WHY “ close by especially in the times you may feel you are struggling and losing motivation. We know from our members at San Rita Wellness that remembering their initial “WHY “ helps to keep them motivated and gives them the incentive not to give up. Now that you remember your WHY lets look at the “Will and the Way “ to move forward and keep things going. ARE YOU WILLING? What are the things you need to change to make a difference? Here are some suggestions for you. • • •

Food Activity Mindset

Food

- Is it the type of food you are eating? - Is it the amount of food on your plate? - is it lack of variety with your food for mealtimes?

Activity - Do you enjoy the type of activity that you do? - Do you allow yourself enough time during the week to fit it in? - Is there another type of activity you could try for variation? Mindset - Could you think more positively about yourself? - Remember slow progress is better than no progress - Take it one day at a time , after all Rome wasn’t built in a day. ON YOUR WAY! Sometimes people go back to doing things “their way“ or “no way“ but we know the San Rita Wellness plan is the way to go: Tips to keep in mind: * Keep track of your calories as you use them. * Stay within your calorie allowance * Be as active as you possibly can. * Stay accountable by checking in with us weekly.

BURNING THE BIG HOUSE:

The Story of the Irish Country House in a Time of War and Revolution By Terence Dooley During the Irish Revolution nearly three hundred country houses were burned to the ground. These “Big Houses” were powerful symbols of conquest, plantation, and colonial oppression, and were caught up in the struggle for independence and the conflict between the aristocracy and those demanding access to more land. Stripped of their most important artefacts, most of the houses were never rebuilt and ruins such as Summerhill stood like ghostly figures for generations to come. Terence Dooley offers a unique perspective on the Irish Revolution, exploring the struggles over land, the impact of the Great War, and why the country mansions of the landed class became such a symbolic target for republicans throughout period. Dooley details the shockingly sudden acts of occupation and destruction - including soldiers using a Rembrandt as a dart board - and evokes the exhilaration felt by the revolutionaries at seizing these grand houses and visibly overturning the established order.

Would families with family graves in these Cemeteries please ensure that their family graves are clean and tidy ahead of these mass dates. Thank you. BEREAVEMENT Sadly on Sunday morning July 21st the Community was shocked and saddened on learning of the sad passing of one of the most wonderful and hard working ladies the late Nora O’Mahony (Née Moriarty) R.I.P. Ballymackessy and of upper Well Street, Ballylongford. Nora was a very kind and loving woman who was highly respected by both young and old. Having lived in the Community all of her adult life she indeed witnessed many changes in a community where she worked most desperately hard. Life presented Nora with a most cruel blow when she lost her husband John R.I.P. nearly four decades ago, but with the help of her family and neighbours and friends she enjoyed life and when her children had reached adulthood she cherished and welcomed her grandchildren and indeed great grandchildren who brought her such pride and joy as they began life. She was a wonderful mother who loved and cherished all her family, a wonderful cook who her daughter Lilly referred to in a glowing eulogy tribute at her funeral mass. As referred to earlier Nora worked extremely hard and enjoyed her work all through her life whether it be washing or sewing or ironing both for her family and so many others to cooking, gardening she was always happy. In earlier years when she and the family operated a successful catering service she loved the challenge and in particular meeting people. While most of her time was spent looking after so many, one wondered if she had any recreational time, indeed she had and she enjoyed going to Bingo and of course the game of cards and particularly the game of 41 which she loved. She was a marvellous player who could read and play the game as a professional and she was a major player in the weekly get together in Kennelly’s Bar on a Thursday night where herself and many of her friends would play for hours on end. Sadly, Norah’s health took a bad turn in recent times and while she was most excellently cared for by her daughter Nora in Tarbert where she passed peacefully in the presence of her family on Sunday morning. So many happy memories have been recalled and shared with the family by so many people during her funeral which will hopefully ease the loss and heartbreak and will comfort you and form a wonderful legacy in remembrance of a wonderful mother. To her heartbroken family of sons John (Chelthenam), Finbarr (Ballylongford) and Denis (Ballybunion), her loving daughters Adeline (New York), Nora (Tarbert) and Lily (Kilcolgan, Tarbert), daughters-in-law Barbara, Carmel and Mary, sons-in-law Tommy, Olly and Jay, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great- great grandchildren, her brothers, her sisters, her sisters-in-law, her brothersin-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends we extend our very deepest sympathies. Nora’s body lay in repose at Lynch’s funeral home on Tuesday evening, July 26th,. Nora’s cortege arrived at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Ballylongford, on Wednesday morning for 11am Requiem Mass, followed by interment afterwards in Ahavallen Cemetery. May her gentle Soul Rest in Peace. TIDY TOWNS NOTICE In preparation for this year’s Tidy Towns judging, the local Tidy Towns volunteers have been working tirelessly cleaning the streets, weeding, painting and planting hanging baskets/ window boxes with multiples of flowers all around the Village and approach roads to the vil-

18

lage. Thanks to the group’s dedication and work there is currently a massive display of brightly coloured flowers to be seen all about the village. OYSTER FESTIVAL It was wonderful to see such large crowds congregate in the village over the Bank Holiday Weekend for the Annual Oyster Festival which had not taken place since the Covid 19 epidemic. The Weekend was a marvellous success and congratulations to all concerned in making it such a wonderful success. The results of the Conor Heaphy Inaugural Under 11s Football Tournament, held at Ballylongford O’Rahilly GAA Grounds as part of the Oyster Festival,on Saturday morning last were as follows: After a brilliant few hours played in rather unsavoury weather conditions the competition which was a fabulous success saw our own side Bally-Asdee, take on near neighbours Beale in the final which resulted in a Beale victory on the scoreline Beale, 5 goals and 5 points, Ballylongford-Asdee, 2 goals and 1 point. In the semi-finals, Bally-Asdee overcame Ballydonoghue, after extra time; and Beale overcame Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan. Runners Up, Ballydonoghue overcame Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan with a score of 5 goals and 6 points to Askeaton’s 5 goals and 2 points. Congratulations to the teams, mentors and parents for the wonderful contribution they made in ensuring the competition was a wonderful success and no doubt but Conor God be good to him was with us in spirit for the occasion. LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL Sadly Sunday last was a huge disappointment for Kerry Senior Ladies as they went in search of their first All Ireland Senior title since 1993. The tie remained delicately poised, until the holders spectacularly turned the screw with two goals in the space of just four minutes to end the game as a contest. Our own young woman Niamh Carmody gave a wonderful performance once again, and her calling ashore on 44th minute was to say the least mind boggling as she had been very effective up to this point. For Kerry, this was a first All-Ireland Senior Final appearance since 2012 and if they had completed the job, the Kingdom would have been crowned champions for a record 12th time. But sadly it was not to be, but on the positive side next year is another year and no doubt with Kerry’s promotion to Division 1 in next year’s National League competition it can only create dividends for them as they will be playing the top Counties in the Country. Well done again Niamh and to all concerned you have brought such wonderful pride and joy to yer families, Communities and County and long may you continue to do so. LISTOWEL BAZAAR GROUP Note in from Billy Moloney of the Listowel Bazaar Group to sadly inform us that there will be no parish Bazaar in Listowel this Christmas as a safety precaution due to the continuation of the Covid 19 epidemic, this is in response to the huge amount of people that had been making inquiries about the Annual event. But the Good News is that the organizing group is already planning and getting things in train for a bigger and better Bazaar in 2023 please God. The group wish to also publicly acknowledge their sincere thanks to everybody who contributed so generously to their recent fundraising day held at Garvey’s it was indeed a fantastic success the group also wish to acknowledge their sincere thanks to the management and staff of Garvey’s for giving them such wonderful support. Mile Buiochas to all. BALLYDUFF GAA NEWS Minor Hurling: Commiserations to our minor hurlers who lost to St Brendan’s on Friday evening last in Austin Stack Park in the County Minor Hurling Championship final. Ballyduff never got to grips with the game in what was a disappointing display but you gave your all and no doubt there will be brighter days ahead. Some of you have two minor medals in your pocket and the younger players will be back challenging for honours next year. Senior Hurling: Sunday next is the big one when our Seniors take on Causeway in County Senior Hurling Championship final. Austin Stack Park is the venue and 3.00pm is throw in time. This team have put in a huge effort all year and deserve huge support on Sunday next to try and get us over the line. Best of luck to the “Boys in Green”. Street Collection: There will be a Street Collection on this Saturday August 6th in Ballyduff village from 9.00am to 6.00 pm to defray training expenses. Please subscribe generously. COISTE NA NÓG NOTES Sunday 31st July On Sunday morning our senior hurlers continued their preparations for the County Final next Sunday, this gave all their young supporters a chance to meet them and enjoy a puck around with them at the pitch. They also got the opportunity to take some photos and show their own skills. Best of luck to all the players and team management from Ballyduff Coiste na nÓg. U15 Our U15 hurlers made the long journey to Kenmare on Sunday morning for their County League Semi-Final. The homeside were off to a slightly better start hitting the bag of the night after eight minutes, however some lovely points from Fionn and two goals in quick succession from Michael Houlihan meant that at half time we were four points up. Kenmare struck early in the second half for another goal, we kept taking our points and looked to be pulling away, however two late goals for Kenmare resulted in a drawn game which means that we have to do it all over again.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP The Community Clean Up is now in progress at different housing estates and locations every Wednesday evening with local residents and volunteers getting involved. Johnny Mulvihill is the co-ordinator and a sign is erected at each location to alert the residents. Johnny who has been responsible for the grass cutting and has kept the public and private areas in pristine condition for the past 25 years has had to opt out this year due to other commitments. The present strategy is that each estate is responsible for its own grass cutting and a local contractor cuts the public amenity areas. The village is looking well with a great profusion of flowers, shrubs and Kerry flags everywhere. The Marian Shrine, the Memorial Plaza, the Bridewell, the newly painted Credit Union, the Church, graveyard and surroundings all look very well which should help in the Tidy Towns adjudication. Marius, the Caretaker is painting the National School building which will give it a bright new look for September re-opening. Dog fouling on the Island road footpath is also a recurring problem. Litter has always been the big bugbear and the words of the old Chinese philosopher ring true ‘if every man and woman sweeps outside their own door, we will all have a clean street’. CIARRAÍ ABÚ While Niamh Carmody did not win her All Ireland medal in the Ladies Gaelic Football Final she and Jason Foley, Ballydonoghue, had the proud distinction of being the two North Kerry players to represent Kerry in the All Ireland Football Finals of 2022. Both are also past pupils of Tarbert Comprehensive School. Hopefully Jason will pick up an All Star to add to his All Ireland medal after a great championship performance, tuillte go maith aige.

BEALE GAA

Beale seniors lost out to Tarbert in the opening match of Group 3 of the County Junior Club Championship on Saturday evening. Played in torrential rain, we conceded two easy goals in the first half and went in at the interval, 2-5 to 1-2 down. We hit back in the second half but ended up with a 6-point deficit, 2-10 to 2-4. We play Firies in Mountcoal on Saturday evening at 7 o’clock. Our final round game will be against Asdee. Beale juniors play Tarbert tomorrow (Tuesday) evening in Division 4A of the North Kerry League, in Ballybunion at 7.30. We travel to Moyvane on Tuesday, August 9th for a 7.30 throw-in. Well done to North Kerry U-21s on a gallant performance against East Kerry in the final of the County Championship on Wednesday evening. Spectators were treated to a magnificent display of football throughout. East Kerry’s sharp shooting in the first half gave them the lead, as North Kerry found scores hard to come by. However, their defence stood firm, and they found their shooting boots in the second half. Very little separated the teams, and it was edge-of-the-seat football. North Kerry had a 1-point advantage as the clock ticked away. East Kerry kicked a point to force the game into extra time. North Kerry lost out by 2 points, 3-14 to 1-22. Robert Stack was impressive at mid field but regrettably was forced off by injury in the closing minutes. Beale’s Diarmuid O’Mahony was listed among the substitutes. An interesting fact as history repeats itself. Robert Stack and Cillian Trant lined out at midfield. Robert is great grandson of Bob Stack and Cillian, great grandson of Con Brosnan. Bob Stack and Con Brosnan formed a formidable midfield partnership for Kerry in the 1920s. This week’s Beale Lotto jackpot is €1,300. The draw takes place on Tuesday night in The Exchange at 9 o’clock. A huge ‘míle buíochas’ to everyone who supports and promotes the Beale Lotto. Tickets, €2 each or 3 for a fiver, are available in Joyce’s Newsagents or in the local pubs. Play online by downloading the Clubforce app or simply click the link on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages or log onto https://clubforce. com/clubs/beale-gaa-kerry/. All online entries must be registered by 6.00pm on the day of the draw – entries after 6.00pm will be entered in the next draw. The draw for the North Kerry Senior Football Championship will take place on Friday, 26th August, at 8 o’clock in McMunn’s, Ballybunion. The draw will be streamed live on the North Kerry Board Facebook page also. Greg and Una Ryan, of McMunn’s, kindly sponsor the North Kerry Senior Championship.

FINUGE GAA

SENIOR: The county Junior club championship kicked off last weekend with an away game to Duagh and an overall solid performance from our boys. The game got off to a lively start with an early goal through Maurice Corridan. Finuge kept their noses in front throughout the first half but really should have capitalised further having the benefit of the breeze. Halftime score was Finuge 1-05 to Duagh’s 0-06. Duagh came out all guns blazing in the second half hitting four points on the bounce and taking the lead for the first time. The sides then traded points before Finuge hit three in a row to go back into the lead. Again, the sides traded points and Duagh edged ahead with a few minutes remaining. However, our boys levelled matters entering injury time and the game soon finished level. Both teams had a number of potential goal scoring opportunities which could have sealed it, but a draw was ultimately a fair reflection. Kieran MacKessy in goal put in another important display making two vital saves and slotting two frees from distance. Details for round two are not known at time of writing. Knocknagoshel, and Kilgarvan are the opposition for rounds two and three in the weeks ahead. U15: Last week our boys played Tarbert in the McElligott Oils North Kerry league qualification playoff. In a tight game, our boys came out on top by two goals - Finuge 4-11 to Tarbert’s 2-11. This puts the team into the league semifinal where they will play Ballyduff - awaiting details at time of writing. U13: The recently scheduled North Kerry league game with Listowel failed to materialise as Listowel were unable to field. Next up is Ballyduff away this Wednesday, quickly followed by Knock/Brosna on Sunday. U11: A big day out was had by everyone recently when the squad took part in a regional blitz played in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney. The team played Tuosist from South Kerry, Parteen from Clare and Glenville of Cork. All our players played extremely well and represented the club with great pride and enthusiasm. After the games, a guided stadium tour rounded off the stadium activity. Then it was on to MacDonalds to top off a great day for everyone! The squad also wore their newly supplied and sponsored training tops compliments of local company Liston Electrical. This was a really appreciated gift from Liston Electrical to the squad and certainly added to the sense of occasion - thank you Bridget & Ian. U9: The latest action at U9 saw our boys and girls take on Keel, in Finuge. Well done to everyone involved on a great display of hardworking and tackling with some great passing also! Training continues on Wednesday evenings and new members are always welcome to come along and give it a go! U7: Well done to our boys and girls who were busy recently playing Knocknagoshel. It was great to see our budding stars of the future in action with plenty of skills on show! NORTH KERRY U21; The U21 county was played last week in Austin Stack Park and another really exciting game was had between North and East Kerry. These teams have met at minor and U21 over the past few years and has been very competitive - this was no different! Level after normal time and with NK leading with minutes remaining, East Kerry won it in the dying moments by two points. Finuge were very well represented by Kieran MacKessy, Ciarán Commane and Darragh MacKessy on this team and all should be proud of the progress being made. U15 District Championship 2022 - Cup Competition Group A: Kenmare, North Kerry, Tralee District, West Kerry. Round 1 03/08/2022 at 7pm North Kerry V Tralee District @ Coolard, Ballydonoghue. Round 2 10/08/2022 at 7pm Kenmare District V North Kerry (Neutral Venue TBC) Round 3 17/08/2022 at 7pm West Kerry V North Kerry Acorn Life U21 County Football Championship 2022 Final Report by Jack Hennessy East Kerry 1-22 North Kerry 3-14 AET. North Kerry reached their first ever County Under 21 football championship final and after an almighty struggle against red hot favourites East Kerry at Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Wednesday July 27 they just failed at the final hurdle taking their illustrious opponents to extra time before going down by a 2pt margin. This was a tremendous encounter throughout played in the true spirit of the game and credit both sides for providing the huge attendance with a truly magnificent contest. Certainly the injury to full back Brendain O Neill after just 4mts was a huge blow and later in extra time Robert Stack had to be helped off. East Kerry got off to a perfect start and were 1-4 to 1pt after 8mts and were full value for that lead as they were much more physical and were always a threat when in possession in attack whereas the North Kerry boys were finding it difficult against a teak tough East Kerry defence. Ruari Murphy, Aaron Flynn and Cian Murphy kicked over some neat points with their goal coming from Emmett O Shea after 3mts. Jack Kennelly who was well tied up early on but still kicked over a point. However as the East Kerry boys looked like pulling away up stepped Jack Kennelly with a punched 22nd minute goal after a superb floating ball into the square from Robert Stack to reduce the margin to 3pts. Still East Kerry finished the half strong and at the interval led 1-6 to 1-1. The second half was exciting to say the least but East Kerry were still winning good possession; Ryan O Grady and Jack Kennelly exchanged points. Kennelly was still keeping his side in touch with points and who was now causing endless problems for the opposing defence as was Kevin Goulding. Aaron O Shea, Cian Murphy and Ruari Murphy kept the scoreboard ticking for East Kerry as the led 1-11 to 1-5 by the 40th mt. 8mts later only a point separated the sides as Jack Kennelly and Kevin Goulding struck for superb points.East Kerry were still coming forward and Aaron O Shea, Ryan O Grady and Ruari Murphy had their side 4pts ahead as we faced into the 58th mt. North Kerry showed their fighting qualities and Cillian Trant, Sub Cormac Dillon and a Padraig Walsh goal had North Kerry a point ahead as we hit injury time. Then and not for the first time up stepped Ruairi Murphy to split the uprights and force the game into extra time. East Kerry 1-15 North Kerry 2-12. At this stage now both sets of players were out on their feet and having to face another 20mts or so. Ruairi Murphy, Ryan o Grady, Killian O Sullivan had their side 4pts ahead with Robert Stack North Kerrys only reply. Into the second period of extra time and once again Jack Kennelly reaching for the sky was hauled down and from the resultant penalty found the net; still. East Kerry held on and points from Stephen Palmer and Cian Murphy closed the scoring. East Kerry 1-22 North Kerry 3-14. It was a memorable journey by North Kerry and full credit to the full panel for making such a huge effort and not forgetting the trainer, John O Connell, Selectors; Brendan O Mahony, Jackie Mulvihill, Coaches; Karol Dillon and Darragh O Shea. Also to the team sponsors Mary and Eric O Neill, Ballylongford of “Supreme Pool Tables” Team and scorers; Kieran Mackessy, Liam Guiney, Brendain O Neill, Padraig Walsh,1gl, Jack McElligott, Donnacha Maher, Adam Segal, Cillian Trant, 1pt, Robert Stack, 1pt, Ted Moloney, Kevin Goulding, 4pts, Jamie McVeigh, Rory O Mahony, Darragh Lynch,1pt, Jack Kennelly, 2-6, Subs, Eddie healy for Brendain O Neill, inj, Darragh Carey for Darragh Lynch, Cormac Dillon, 1pt for ted Moloney, Mikey Nolan for James McVeigh, james McVeigh for Robert Stack, inj, Darragh Lynch for Rory O Mahony.

By “my crowd” my friend was referring to the Church community which I attend for prayer and worship. We call ourselves Listowel Christian Fellowship and are a community of bible believing Christians who gather together to pray and worship our Father God in heaven. I couldn’t resist saying “ Now if you read your bible you would know the answer to your question!!.” But on a serious note. What does scripture say about the return of Jesus Christ to this earth? Well, the Gospel of Mark chapter 13 verse 32 couldn’t be clearer. Here Jesus tells His disciples “But of that day (when Jesus will return) no one knows, not even the angels in Heaven nor the Son, but My Father only.” There it is. Even Jesus doesn’t know. Only God the Father knows when Jesus is coming back. But scripture assures us He is coming back to this earth again, not as a helpless baby this time but as “the Son of Man (who)will come in the glory of His Father with His angels.” And this time, everyone will know, not like at His first coming when only a few shepherds and wise men knew. I read in Revelation 1:7 “Behold. He is coming with clouds and every eye will see Him......” But scriptural references to His Second Coming aren’t there just to satisfy our curiosity or fascination with future events.

Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours. 2 female & 1 male. 10 weeks old. Vaccinated, Microchipped and Vet checked. Beautiful temperament, good with children & socailised with other dogs.

CALLS ONLY: 0873299486

Programme for 5th August 2022: 6.45pm: Rosary 7pm: Mass, Benediction and Sermon All are welcome. St. Pio Counsels… Temptations against faith and purity are the merchandise offered by the enemy, but do not fear him, rather despise him. Keep pleasing God, and in that way counter the evil suggestions of the evil one.

But He may not return for hundreds of years..you say . l hear you. Indeed, He may not. However, scripture does tell me in Mark 13:35-36 to always be ready for His return. It puts it like this “Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming( that’s Jesus)_in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning _lest coming suddenly, He find you sleeping. And what l say to you l say to all: Be ready!” Before l came to trust Jesus as Lord and Saviour and became His follower the thought of His return to earth frightened the living daylights out of me. But not anymore thank God. Now l look forward to His return. Because of the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary a way has been opened up for each of us to know the one true and living God. This knowledge brings a calm assurance to each of our hearts that He loves us and is coming back to bring us home. This is what sustains us in this tragic and uncertain world. Looking forward to His return influences me in how l try (often failing) to live each day aiming to please God. So, the next question you might ask is “ but WHY is Jesus coming back to earth? Well, you will have to Tune in next week for that ! God bless you and have a wonderful week. If you require any further information, you can call LCF at 087 9529907. Yours sincerely, Bridie (Dillon)Hartney
