LISTOWEL AWARDS AT OÍCHE CHIARRAÍ

She is highly regarded by her colleagues, patients and their families, as well as the wider community of Kerry and West Cork, where she also leads a com munity palliative care team.
The debt warehouse term is made up of three distinct periods. No interest is applied to the warehoused debt during Period 1 and Period 2. Period 1 began when the business first experienced cashflow trading difficulties due to COVID-19. Period 1 ended on 31 December 2021. All returns for qualifying taxes which fall in Period 1 are entered into the Inwarehouse.December 2021, the Warehouse scheme was extended for businesses impacted by re-imposed COVID restrictions. The businesses must have already been eligible for warehousing and have a valid claim dur ing the period from 1 January 2022 to 30 April 2022 for EWSS or CRSS. For these businesses, period 1 has been extended until 30 April 2022. Period 2 is a one-year period which runs from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. If your business qualifies for the warehouse extension, period 2 will run from 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2023. Period 3 starts on 1 January 2023, (or on 1 May 2023 if your business qualifies for the extension). On exiting Period 2, you must agree a Phased Payment Arrangement with Revenue for the warehoused debt. Interest will be applied from the start of Period 3 until the final payment date at a rate of 3% In the Revenue’s press release on the 31 March, it showed that the total debt eligible for the Debt Ware housing Scheme since its introduction is €30.9 billion. However, 90% of that debt has been paid, €3 billion is currently warehoused.
SCARP The Small Company Administrative Rescue Process is designed to address the specific needs of eligible small and micro companies in financial difficulties. It allows viable companies experiencing temporary financial problems to restructure with the agreement of creditors. It has limited court involvement where creditors are engaged in the process and are positively disposed to a Rescue Plan. The process mirrors elements of examinership but in a simplified administrative content, thus reducing court involvement, mak ing it potentially both quicker and cheaper. The Revenue has published guidelines on the SCARP scheme which includes published guidelines for process advisers.
The Listowel Tidy Towns Committee are the recipients of the 2020 Laochra Chiarraí award, which recognises exemplary leadership in community activity in the county. The hard work, dedication and community spirit of the Listowel Tidy Towns committee over the last 27 years has led to awards for Listowel at county, national and indeed international level and is a wonderful example of exemplary community activity. The event promises to be a great night of celebration in the capital, especially following our recent All-Ireland victory! Tickets cost €75 per person and can be purchased online at www. kerryassociation.ie or from any committee members.
If your business was availing of the debt warehousing scheme you should have received a letter from the Revenue to advise you of any tax returns which may be overdue. The warehousing of tax debt was intro duced to assist businesses experiencing cash-flow and trading difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With warehousing, you can defer paying some of your eligible tax liabilities until you are in a position financially to deal with the debt. The area which can be confusing is understanding the periods where the Revenue will not be applying interest and when will interest commence. The Revenue will contact the business to discuss the terms for paying any outstanding warehoused debt before the end of 2022 or early 2023 if the business qualified for the extension.
COVID SUPPORT SCHEMES UPDATE - FDC GROUP By Clement Hehir, FDC Group Kilmallock. As we (hopefully) move into an era where most of the pandemic restrictions are eased, it is important for businesses to understand the timing of the Revenue support schemes that are winding up and moving on to the next phase of dealing with the debts that were accrued due to the pandemic and how best to manage them. If you are self-employed and were claiming the COVID-19 Part Time Job Incentive for the Self-Employed, this scheme is being closed and the final payment will be made on 31 May 2022. After this date, if you are continuing to operate your business at reduced levels you may be eligible for support under the means tested Jobseeker’s Allowance scheme.
Wage subsidies The Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) ceased for most businesses on the 30 April 2022. However, if your business was directly impacted by the public health restrictions introduced in December 2021, the flat rate subsidy of €100 which applied for April and May will continue up until 31 May 2022. The EWSS will end on this date.

At a time when the values of Catholic Ireland are so often viewed in a negative, even hostile, light, Mary Kenny’s approach is a balanced and measured recollection of the Ireland of our times - and of times past, since the foun dation of the Irish state a hundred years ago. She focuses on the people and personalities involved in our social history, seeing Ireland from 1922 to 2022 through their stories, and the events in which they were involved. Yes, there have been stark failings in Irish society, involving the position and power of the Catho lic church, and these must be honestly described. Yet our values, our heritage, our own family members also included many kind, intel ligent and patriotic people doing their best, who built up the Irish state from a fragile beginning. Mary interweaves some of her own life-experiences, and the people she knew into this complex portrait of Irish life providing a stimulating, informative and enjoyable read. This was certainly not a game for the faint-hearted as this highly en joyable contest went down to the wire before North Kerry’s Evan Boyle became the hero of the hour and after the sides were all square with a minute to go Boyle kicked over the winning point amid great jubilation from the huge North Kerry supporters Played in perfect underfoot condi tions at Castleisland Desmond’s G A A pitch on Monday evening August 10th and even though there was never more than a kick of a ball between the sides all through North Kerry just about deserved to march into a semi finals where they will battle it out with Kenmare Shamrocks. Well done to the North Kerry team and their management especially Crotta Gaa St. Senan’s player, Sean McElligott.

Congratulations to our relay coach, Bernadette Galvin, on her niece, Roisín Willis’ triumph in Cali, Columbia, in the U.20 World Championships. Roisín, representing the U.S.A., won gold in the 800m race and broke the world record. She then went on to win a second gold medal with the 4 x 400m U.S.A. relay team. Roisín hails from an athletic family. Roisín’s mother, Breda Dennehy-Willis, a sister of Bernadette, ran the 5,000 metres for Ireland in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. We will be hearing more of Roisín Willis into the future and no doubt, some of that athleticism will shine through her cousins, Maurice and Jerry Galvin, in the U.14 relay competition this weekend.

Beale seniors lost out to Firies in the second match of Group 3 of the County Junior Club Championship on Saturday evening. Our opponents hit the ground running while it took us over twenty minutes to register our first point. We settled into the game then and our backs soaked up the pressure. We were five points adrift at the short whistle, 1-9 to 1-4. Firies rattled the net on the changeover and added another point without reply. The writing was on the wall for us in the second half and we couldn’t stem the tide as a third goal sealed victory for Firies. We put some good moves together but were guilty of spilling the ball and were duly punished from the resulting turnovers. The full-time score read 3-15 to 1-8. Our final round game will be against Asdee the weekend of August 21st. Beale juniors had a good win over Tarbert in Division 4A of the North Kerry League. The final score was 3-7 to 2-9. We travel to Moyvane on Tuesday even ing for a 7.30 throw-in. Beale juniors contest the North Kerry Intermediate Cup. Other teams in this championship are St Senans, Desmonds, Emmetts, Ballydonoghue and Moy vane. Fixtures will be issued at later date. There was no jackpot winner in last week’s Beale Lotto. The numbers drawn were 10, 19, 20 and 32. There was one Match-3 winner, Patricia McCarthy, who won €100. This week’s draw took place on Monday night in Kilcooly’s. Report by Jack Hennessy Tralee District 1-14 -v- North Kerry 1-13 Denis Dowling Park, Coolard was the venue for this first round U15 District Championship clash with Tralee District and after a trilling last quarter in which North Kerry came from been 1-12 to 0-7 down to draw level on the 30th minute and after having to suffer the agony of 2 goal line clearances by Tralee defence and then deep into injury time the outstanding Ronan O Carroll converted a 30 meter free to deny the North Kerry boys at least a share of the spoils. The opening half saw Conor Sweeney kick over a neat point inside the opening minute but for the remainder of this half Tralee District had it more or less to themselves as they dominated possession for the bigger part of those 30 minutes. However North Kerry did have their moments but scoring seemed a bit of a problem as Tralee packed their defence and were quick on the break and were sharper on the scoring department. In attack Ronan O Carroll, 1-9 and Ryan O Driscoll were causing big problems. Ryan O Driscoll, Ronan O Car roll, Gearoid White and Jamie McCarthy, added first half points while Conor Sweeney, 3pts, Keighan Moloney and Jack Enright replied for North Kerry and at the break it was Tralee District 0-11 North Kerry 0-5. On resumption North Kerry added a few substitutes which were to bring more fight into their game later; but it was still the Tralee boys that were picking off their scores and when Ronan O Carroll soloed through and sent a powerful shot to the back of the net in the 5th minute it looked an uphill struggle for North Kerry as they trailed by 1-12 to 0-6. Certainly an inspirational point from out on the sideline from excellent wing back Michael Coonahan lifted his side no end and they laid siege on the Tralee goals at every opportunity. Then half time substitute Leigh Meehan somehow found space and he billowed the net from close range. Now it was down to a 4pt margin and with a sting in their tail the North Kerry boys lofted over some lovely points through Rory O Connell, Conor Sweeney, Leigh Meehan, Keighan Moloney and on the 30mt mark after the latter player drew the teams level at 1-13 each. Play continued from the kickout and after a turnover Ronan Carroll was fouled and he duly slotted the winner deep into injury time. Overall probably the Tralee side may have been the better side but one must credit the North Kerry side for a tremendous comeback and were most unlucky not to have at least shared the points. Next game will be against Kenmare Shamrocks on Wednesday August 10th with venue to be confirmed.
The Draw for the Bernard O Callaghan Senior Football Championship will take place on Friday 26th August @ 8pm in McMunns Ballybunion, the draw will be streamed live on our Facebook page also. NORTH KERRY GAA Keane’s SuperValu Minor Football Championship. RD 3 North Kerry 1-12 -v- East Kerry 1-10 Report by Jack Hennessy North Kerry Minor footballers continued their 100% run in the Keane’s Super Valu County Minor Football Championship. RD 3 at the Fossa G A A Grounds on Monday August 1 and by virtue of this latest victory they have qualified for the latter stages of the competition. The East Kerry men would have gone into this game as pre-match favourites but North Kerry who have impressed in all their games up to now continued that form into this latest challenge and dug out a hard earned but deserved victory. The opening half got underway with Darragh O Keeffe, North Kerry and East Kerrys Calumn Cronin exchanging scores inside the 5th minute and this was to be the story of that opening half which saw the teams level on 5 occasions. It was end to end football and by the 15th minute Cormac Dillon,(f) and Ed die Healy swopping points with Cathal O Donoghue. (2) leaving the score 3pts each. A minute later the impressive Darragh O Keeffe put the boys from the North ahead once again.Colin O Callaghan levelled up the tie once more in the 17th minute. However 3mts later Cathal O Donoghue struck for the first goal of the game, opening up a 3pt lead; 1-4 to 0-4.The North Kerry men hit back immediately and points coming from, Cormac Dillon, (3), Darragh O Keeffe and Oisin Healy with East Kerrys only reply from Keelan O Shea that saw North Kerry lead at the break; North Kerry 0-9, East Kerry 1-4. On the change over North Kerry extended their lead further with Oisin Healy finding the net in the 5th minute and Jack Enright and Luke Rochford adding points. North Kerry 1-11, East Kerry 1-5.For the remainder of the game the North Kerry defence were under pressure as their opponents were coming forward in droves in search of scores that would get them back in the game. Sean Finnegan, Keelan O Shea, Colin O Callaghan and Cathal O Donoghue (2) cut the deficit to a single point as we headed for injury time. However Aaron Carey put a bit of daylight between the sides when he lofted over a very valuable score in injury time. Overall a very enjoyable contest between two evenly matched sides despite the inclement weather conditions. North Kerry Minors now face Austin Stacks in a quarter final Monday 8th of August @ 6.30 in Castleisland.

drop short. This general pattern would continue up to halftime when the score stood at Finuge 0-03 with Knocknagoshel on 1-05. Start of the second half saw Knocknagoshel open smartly with a quick point. However, stalemate then set in and both sides cancelled each other out with their defenses, while both endured a number of squandered scoring attempts. Then came a significant stoppage when Finuge goalkeeper Kieran MacKessy took a heavy fall when contesting a high ball with a Knocknagoshel forward. When play resumed, Colin Sheehy took over goalkeeping duties. Finuge then hit a purple patch with first a point, quickly followed by a super Pat Corridan goal struck from around the 21 leaving the score Finuge 1-04 to Knockna goshel’s 1-06 after 21 minutes of play. The game was opening up much more now with the sides trading points. On the 30-minute mark, Knocknagoshel hit another point to make it 1-08 to 1-05. Excitement was high as both sides went after the win. Finuge needed a goal and would pick off another point but ultimately it was not enough and Knocknagoshel ran out winners on the scoreline Knocknagoshel 1-09 to Finuge’s 1-06. This leaves Knocknagoshel on two wins from two and into a quarterfinal place. Finuge with a draw and a loss need to win their last group game against Kilgarvan to be in with a chance of progressing, while also relying on other U15:results.Last week our boys played Tarbert in the McElligott Oils North Kerry league qualification playoff. In a tight game, our boys came out on top by two goals - Finuge 4-11 to Tarbert’s 2-11. This puts the team into the league semifinal where they will play Ballyduff - awaiting details at time of writing.

“So why is Jesus returning to earth? I thought we were all going to Heaven. When was the plan changed?” Well, the “plan” as my friend called it hasn’t changed at all. We have all heard the following words in the Apostles Creed “...He (Jesus Christ)will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.” So what does holy scripture say about WHY Jesus is returning to earth? Hebrews 9:28 is very clear: “So Christ was sac rificed once for all to take away the sins of many people. He will come a second time NOT to deal with our sins BUT to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for Him.”

NOVENA TO ST. MARTHA
M.K.PRECIOUS MOTHER OF JESUS St. Martha, I resort to thee and to thy petition and faith. I offer up to thee this light which I shall burn every Tuesday for nine Tuesdays. Comfort me in all my difficulties through the great favour thou didst enjoy when Our Saviour lodged in thy house. I beseech thee to have definite pity in regard to the favour I ask (Mention favour). Intercede for my family that we may always be provided for in all our necessities. I ask thee St. Martha to overcome the dragon which thou didst cast at thy feet. Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys with a lighted candle every Tuesday and the above prayer made known with the intentions of spreading de votion to St. Martha. This miraculous Saint grants every thing before the Tuesdays are ended. No matter how difficult. A.L.
BICHON FRISE PUPPIES FOR SALE CONTACT: 087 9127017
THE PRAYERMIRACLE Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours. This time I ask you this special one, (mention fa vour). Take it dear heart of Jesus and place it within your heart where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your own favour not mine. Amen.
But what about all those who have already de parted from the earth? 2 Timothy 4:1 gives us the answer. Christ will judge the living and the dead. Jesus tells us that everyone who has died will be raised from the dead and be judged. As l said last week, the thought of Jesus returning to earth, my body being raised from the dead and me being judged by God held me in a vice grip of fear and terror for many years. l had frequent nightmares about it. But now l believe that l am saved by the grace of God and only by the grace of God, not because of anything l myself have done to deserve salvation but because scripture tells me in Ephesians 2:4: ”But God is so rich in mercy; He loved us so much that even though we were spiritually dead and doomed by our sins, He gave us back our lives again when He raised Jesus from the dead- only by His unde served favour have we ever been saved........ Because of His kindness we have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of ourselves, it too is a gift of God.” Scripture tells us that Jesus is patiently waiting to come back....why? Because He is giving human ity as much time as possible to choose Him and follow Him. I love the Gospel of John chapter 14 when Jesus tells me and you “Let not your heart be trou bled. You are trusting God, now trust in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so l would have told you. l go to pre pare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you,l will come again and receive you to Myself; that where l am, there you may be also.” I am eagerly waiting.
