Oregano is one of the essential oils I will be using over the next few weeks since the return of school and I will have it pre-blended in a roller bottle with OnGuard, Lemon, Lavender, Tea Tree and Frankincense to support our family’s Immune System against seasonal threats. As a fam ily we always make sure to carry our Roller Bottles in the school bags, handbag, golf bag, and we apply them behind the ears, the back of the neck and on to our wrist points. If you wear a face mask out and about or in your place of work you can apply the oils to the inside of the face mask.

BALLYHEIGUE GAA LAUNCH STRICTLY Ballyheigue GAA Strictly Come Dancing 2022 will take place at The Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Sat urday, 5 November. A Natural Antibiotic – OREGANO DóTerra’s Oregano essential oil has powerful cleansing properties that support our immune, respiratory, and digestive systems. It has been used for centuries by the ancient Greeks for its taste and health benefits and is often referred to as ‘The Big Gun’ or ‘The Oil of Humility’. Oregano is a natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory and is most popularly used for immune support. It is one of the Top 10 essential oils in the dóTerra range and is included in both the Family Essentials & Home Essentials Kits from Caroline’s Pod of Positivity. It offers powerful antioxidants and is distilled from the fragrant leaves of the Mediterranean herb. Oregano is known to ease whooping cough, kill ringworm, treat athlete’s foot, candida, fungal infections, inflammation, carpel tunnel pain and ar thritis, muscle aches/pain, nasal polyp, warts and so much more. There is amazing healing power to be found in this dóTerra oil and it comes in a 15ml size bottle that contains 285 x drops of pure, neat and unadulter ated essential oil. Since Oregano is a ‘spice oil’ or ‘hot oil’ you may find it hard to drink it in water, however you can take it internally by putting one or two drops into a veggie capsule. I would recommend using it in your recipes when cooking and it is a top favourite in our house for any Pasta, Soup or Bolognese dishes. This oil can be applied topically to the skin when blended with a carrier oil or added to a roller bottle with a mixture of other oils from the Family Essential Kit or Home Essential Kit. It can also be added to a cold-water diffuser to allow it to get airborne in your home, office, classroom or work space.

DóTerra’s essential oils can be used in three different ways: Topically –applying them on to our skin particularly our pulse points and soles of the feet. Aromatically – by placing two to three drops into a cold-water diffuser and diffusing these oils in our homes, classrooms, offices, salons or places of work / business and thirdly using the oils internally – by add ing them to our favourite food, waters, or drinks, or simply by taking one drop daily under the tongue.

AWARDS FOR LISTOWEL AT OÍCHE CHIARRAÍ IN DUBLIN

After a two and a half year hiatus, Oíche Chiarraí, the flagship event of the Kerry Association in Dublin, finally took place in The Green Isle Hotel in Dublin last Saturday night, 3rd September. President of the Kerry Association in Dublin, Michael O’ Regan, presented the Listowel Tidy Towns Committee with the Laochra Chiarraí award on the night while Dr. Patricia Sheahan, was presented with the Kerry Person of the Year award. Back in 2020, the Kerry Association selected Listowel Tidy Towns as the Laochra Chiarraí recipi ents, a group of people that are exemplary leaders in community activity. Listowel Tidy Towns Group is a community based, voluntary body founded in 1993. They work tirelessly to keep Listowel looking beautiful. She has worked as the palliative medicine consultant in Kerry for the past 20 years. Clothes are something that can help us to keep our weight loss going. A bit like the carrot and the stick. The Carrot being to get Down to a smaller size and the Stick being not having to go UP to the bigger size. We are all guilty of hoarding and holding on to stuff, so take out the clothes that are too big for you and get rid of them, otherwise you will only be thinking sure I will always find something to fit if I gain weight again, so our advice would be to get Rid, Rid, Rid

The type of clothes you wear can help or hinder your Weight loss .It’s usually your clothes that’ll be the first thing you notice as you start losing or gaining weight.

By Austin Duffy Intravenous lines, catheters, bodies in dis tress, wounds: three young surgical interns working the night shift must care for - and keep alive - the influx of patients, while fright ened and uncertain about what the night will throw at them.

By turns moving, shocking, and darkly funny, The Night Interns fizzes with nervous energy, forensic insight and moral tension, as it evokes life and death on the frontline.

I’m sure you are familiar with the saying “If the cap fits wear it” Well, that’s all fine and dandy if we were only talking about a cap,. But what we want to think about this week is how can our clothes in our wardrobes help to keep our motivation strong and our weight loss and wellness journey going. This is now the time of the year, and more so with the change of season, we are having to maybe sort out our wardrobe and change around the clothes that are in there at the moment. For example, are there clothes in there that are too light, too white, too Summery, too BIG, too SMALL or just not quite fitting you right yet etc? Think about it......

San

The Night Interns beautifully conjures the al ien space of the hospital wards and corridors through the viewpoint of one of the interns, as he comes to terms with the bodily reality of the patients and the bizarre instruments of healing. Equally unsettling for the inexperienced junior staff are the dysfunctional hierarchies of the hospital workplace. Under intense pressure and with very little sleep, the interns become inured to their encounters with sickness, all the while searching for the meaning in their work.

How often do we look in the wardrobe and say “I’ve nothing to wear”

THE NIGHT INTERNS

Upcoming events like Christmas for example can be a great motivator for us to keep us in spired on how we want to look and feel when we are dressed up. After all when you feel good about yourself on the inside,no matter what you wear it will sparkle through on the outside.

We will leave you with a thought… “Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels“ For extra support and for weekly accountability check us out on Facebook San Rita Wellness or sanritawellness.ie for details of our “In Person Meetings“, “At Home Service“ or our “One to One Service“.

We at San Rita Wellness would often encourage our members to look beyond the number on the scales and focus on their changing body shape. Clothes are really a great indicator of the progress our members are seeing and feeling and also are a great motivator.

Next, take a look at what’s not quite fitting right yet, and keep those where you will see them. That would remind you every time you open the wardrobe of what you want to achieve. The most important thing is that we should feel good in the clothes that we “ want “ to wear, and not just “ have “ to wear something because we have no choice and it will have to do.. Decluttering the wardrobe is like de-cluttering the mind, and that has to be good for our overall well being too.

So, now we hope you will be busy sorting out the wardrobe over the week, but think about the satisfaction you will get every time you open the doors, knowing that you can put your hand on anything and every thing you love.

It was a great achievement for the boys. Well done to all the players and the management team.

BEREAVEMENTS This week this Community and indeed many communities throughout North Kerry and beyond were very deeply saddened with the news of the very sad passing of Daniel Foley R.I.P. of Glouria, Lisselton, and formerly of Pulleen, Tarbert who died peacefully in the wonderful care of his heartbroken family at his home in Glouria, on Saturday evening last September 3rd. Danny as he was more affectionately known to everybody was a very sincere, jolly and wonderful man who gave huge kindness and help to so many whether they being young or old in the many communities he became attached to all during his wonderful life. Born in Pulleen, Tarbert on 2nd September 1932 to parents Paddy and Annie he enjoyed his youth and the friendships of so many wonderful neighbours and friends in the townland he dearly loved and cherished all of his life. Even though times were hard, people and neighbours were very united in those days, so much so that people helped each other and made sure every body was safe in their area and this kindness and concern was part of what Danny was reared and practiced all during his life. When his time came to branch out in the world he followed in his late Dad’s Paddy R.I.P. footsteps by taking up employment in the Creameries in various parts of North Kerry and beyond, before eventually returning to Bally to join his late father Paddy in the Creamery where he had been the cornerstone of this community for numerous years through his hard work, kindness and help to so many. It was in his place of employment that he became acquainted and friendly with so many people, especially the members of the farming community or the employees of these people. Starting at cockcrow with the lighting of the fire to heat the water and create steam was the first task of the day, while they were long days they were also enjoyable days for him, of which he could recall with ease right up to his passing. He served under two creamery managers the late Jim Heart (R.I.P.) and the late Jimmy Hanrahan (R.I.P.) and he also worked alongside an other great man the late Jack Dee (R.I.P.). However, Danny was one of the last members of the creamery staff who witnessed the closure of the Creamery, which we all will remember as the ruination of Rural Ireland. While he worked hard all of his life he enjoyed life as a family man also having met and married the love of his life his beloved wife Peggy. They settled in the family home in Pulleen raising a family of ten children which they dearly loved and cherished and gladly witnessed their children’s achieve ments in life. Indeed, they were a hardworking couple who raised a big family and provided very well for them. Sadly, the family were to witness a very severe and cruel blow on 10th April 1987 as the passing of their beloved mother and wife Peggy cre ated a huge void in their lives. The loss of a mother so young was devastating, but the strength of all the family and the unity, help and support of each other helped them to carry on, but this was a tough cross to carry for them as they were an inseparable family and attended everything together. Danny was a devoted family man who packed an awful lot into the 90 years he spent in this life. He had a great interest in everything that was happening around the various areas whether it be Ballydonoghue, Bally or Tarbert or indeed anywhere and loved to chat with friends and neighbours as he was a great conversationalist who enjoyed a bit of fun and a laugh. His love of the G.A.A. was immense and while he was a proud Kerryman and followed their participation with great pride, his true passion was on the local G.A.A. scene and a proud and loyal Tarbert man who supported the Club through thick and thin. The highs and lows of the various teams and the performances of his own sons were indeed the talking point in many a conver sation which he could debate and recall at great ease. While his health had taken a turn in recent weeks his enjoyment at seeing Kerry win the All Ireland was a wonderful moment for him. While we all have wonderful memories of this wonderful and kind gen tleman, one memory that stands out for me and our age group going to school in Bally was to hear Danny whistling and singing around the Creamery as we made our way to and from school. To his heartbroken family of Pa, Liam, Ann, Martina, Bernie, Donal, Kieran, Deirdre, Martin, sisters Ita and Vera, sons-in-law Tom, Jim, Tony, Pat, daughters- in-law, Mary, Eleanor, Mary, Collette, Aoife, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and wide circle of friends we offer our deepest sympathies at this very sad time. Danny’s body lay in repose at his residence with Removal from on Wednesday, 7th September, arriving for 11am Requiem Mass at St. Teresa’s Church, Ballydonoghue. Interment took place afterwards at Lislaughtin Abbey, Ballylongford. May he Rest In Peace. Ar dheis dea go raibh a ainm usual. John Flavin R.I.P. The funeral of the late John Flavin R.I.P. London and late of Rusheen, a former Kerry Minor of 1962 and President of the UCAT Trade Union in UK will take place in England on next Tuesday 13th September. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St John of Jerusa lem Church,38 Circus Road, London NW8 9SE at 12.45pm followed by Cremation and celebration of John’s Life at East Chapel, West London Crematorium 679-681 Harrow Road, London at 2.30pm followed by Reception at The Queens Arms 1 Kilburn High Road North Maid Vale NW6 5SE at 3.30pm.
