Niranjan Babu & Suprajarama Raman At the outset we wish all our readers a very happy Vedic New Year Vikari beginning at 2.30 pm on April 5th, 2019, Ujjain time. We have primarily taken the horoscope of Mr. Modi and the different phases 2

of election and have arrived at our conclusions considering also the Vastu strengths of his horoscope. Lalitha Donatella Riback analyses the RahuKetu transits into Mithuna (Gemini) and Dhanus (Sagittarius) and how they affect one’s Janma Rasi (Moon signs). The nodes move relatively slow and are posited in a particular sign for 18 long months. The astrological emagazine

wearing of yellow sapphire can give cutting edge performance thereby helping in career growth.

The author refers to the earlier transit of Rahu in Gemini and speaks of significant innovations between July 2000 and February 2002. An interesting launch during that period was Apple’s first IPad. She also refers to the tragic terror attack in USA on September 11, 2001.

Nirupama speaks about the importance of energies in one’s habitation. She speaks of solar energy, magnetic energy and electrical energy.

Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao looks into the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections of 2019 using a special nakshatra method. He says this simple but effective method works very well and applies to three charts - Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, Mr. Pawan Kalyan and Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy arrives at his astrological choice of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy as the probable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. N. Chandrasekhar tells us how Gemstones can be used for succes in one’s Career. He refers to the ancient indian scholars who studied gemstones for their physical and metaphysical properties. He tells us we can classify all work (profession) activity into two groups - Jobs and Careers. He tells that gemstones can give success in either of these when properly evaluated and worn. For instance he says

She concludes that planning of houses on the micro level and of towns on the macro level are the finest traits of human civilization one can think of. If only our people and the town planners made use of the principles of architecture as laid down by our ancients, the world would be a better place to live in. Yagnavalkya educates us on the Five Constituents of a Panchanga. Many of us are ignorant of the great use of a Panchanga. He explains in detail about the meaning and usage of Thithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana. He also gives us very useful hints on selection of Muhurtha based on his understanding of Kaalavidhana and other Muhurtha texts. Sarve Janah Sukhino Bhavantu!

Rahu Ketu Transit Predictions for the 12 Moon Signs |Lalitha Donatella Riback

Ms. Lalitha analyses the transits of Rahu and Ketu and how they affect the different Moon signs. She says we can expect technology innovations and Ketu can see a humanitarian approach - worldwide. An interesting case study is of the well known actress Priyanka Chopra. There isn’t a linear explanation for the ways two invisible planets can wreck your life or fulfill your wildest wishes. In fact, the term extreme better defines the transits of Rahu and Ketu, because when these lunar nodes change their positions in the zodiac, you will know it. This is because while all the nine Vedic planets can be called karmic for the ways they influence your thoughts and create your consciousness, Rahu and Ketu act similarly, but their influence can lead to radical change. [Donatella Lalitha Riback lives in New York, USA, and is an empowered Pillai Center teacher. She holds an advanced certification in Vedic astrology. She’s a writer and has a great passion for Ayurveda and yoga. She’s the author of many articles and blogs on the Tamil Siddha tradition, yoga philosophy, Jyotisha and other Vedic arts and sciences.]

As the Nodes are relatively slow in their backward trajectory, they change their astrological signs every 18 months. So on March 7, 2019, Rahu will move into sidereal Gemini and Ketu into Sagittarius, meeting Saturn also in Sagittarius, until September 19, 2020. In general, we can expect technological innovations at super speed while Rahu will be in Gemini. And with Ketu with Saturn in Sagittarius we could see a more humanitarian approach worldwide.

Prior Transits of Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius The last time that Rahu and Ketu were respectively in Gemini and Sagittarius was between July 2000 and February 2002. Significant innovations at that time included: •

Human residents moved for the first time into the International Space Station, an artificial satellite in low-Earth orbit.

The human genome sequence was revealed.

Apple launched its first IPad.

At the same time, we cannot forget the tragic terror attack in USA on September 11, 2001.

Loka Sabha Elections 2019 Will BJP Win Again? |Bangalore Niranjan Babu

Editor in Chief analyses the April/May Election results differently based on Jyothisha and Vastu considerations and concludes that Mr. Modi will continue as the Prime Mininster of India.

To begin with, let’s us see the contents page and what we have been saying for more than twelve decades ever since our original magazine was started by our great grand father Prof. Suryanarain Rao.

If our country needs Modiji to continue for another term of 5 years as Prime Minister, it is necessary that the Bharatiya Janata Party (and its coalition) gets a minimum of 273 seats to form the Government.

फलानि ग्रहचारेण सूचयन्ति मनीषिणः।

Do the planets (and the relevant directions) favour this? We will consider both Jyothisha and Vastu review. Readers are requested to go through the Peeta Mandala diagaram of Bharat given below.

को वक्ता तारातमस्य तमेकं वेधसं विना।।

Those who know Astrology can only indicate in a way what will take place in the Future. Who else, except the Creator Brahma, can say with certainty what will definitely happen? As Dr. Raman always said, Jyothisha is indicative and not determenistic. When the indications are favourable, it is necessary that effort is put to achieve the result. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, Chapter II, Sloka 47 tells us: कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन। मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्माते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥

The Bharatiya Janata Party has to go from door to door among not just cities but all the big and small villages, infuse confidence in them that their future will be better by voting for BJP and having Mr. Modi as the Prime Minister for another term of five years. The 2019 elections for the 543 members of parliament will be conducted in April and May of this year in seven phases. Counting of votes will be done on 23rd May. The astrological emagazine

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2019 Who will be the Next Chief Minister? |Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao

Dr. Nemani looks into the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections of 2019 and studies the horoscopes of three probable Chief Ministers on an analyis of what he calls ‘Special Nakashatras’. He says that Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to be the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

In this article, I will be using a Special Nakshatra (Taras) method to determine political/election outcomes for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2019, which are scheduled to be held on Apr 11th, 2019. I have found this simple yet effective method is working very well with the following pointers and illustrated the principles with three Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministerial candidate charts to demonstrate its application. The Special Nakshatras and how to use them were already explained in an earlier article. please refer at the references section for more details about that article. Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao is from Parvatipuram (Near Vizag), AP, India, lives in San Francisco, USA. Dr. Raghunatha Rao has been practicing Vedic Astrology since 2002. With a doctorate in Business Management by profession. he considers H. Ramadas Rao, Pt. Sanjay Rath, Pt. Dakshinamoorthy Ramasamy and Swami Omkar as his Jyotish Teachers. Dr. Rao has recently received Jyotish Visharada from Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA), USA.

Principles 1. Benefic planets and Yoga Karaka Planet (from the Natal Chart), when they transit on Abhisheka Tara and along with other Special Tara’s during the election time, the native will win. 2. Benefic planets and Yoga Karaka Planet (from the Natal Chart), when they aspect Abhisheka Tara and along with other Special Tara’s during the election time, the native will win. Notes: I have used traditional Lahiri ayanamsa for this analysis. It’s quite likely that the birth time you find elsewhere are slightly different from those I’ve used here.

Gemstones for Career Success |Dr. N. Chandrashekar Gemstones or Ratnas are minerals with special physical properties. From ancient times, gemstones were used by many cultures for reasons like show of wealth, healing and good luck. In ancient India, the scholars had a good understanding Maharatnas and Uparatnas. They were studied for their crystal structure, specific gravity, refractive index and other spiritual properties. While in Ayurveda, certain medicines include crystals and gemstones during preparation, Vedic Astrology appreciates the counteracting effects of planets and karma or destiny. In this article, Dr Chandrashekar, writes about certain gemstones and how they can help us achieve success in Career.

In olden days it was said, that, Udyogam Purushalakshanam - meaning a man should engage in a profession without which he has no proper identity of his own. But, now we can fairly say that Udyogam Manushyalakshanam meaning everybody whether a man, woman or a transgender should engage in a meaningful and constructive work (profession) that is mutually beneficial for self and the institution or organization or to the society one is working for. Dr. N.Chandrashekar., Ph.D., D.Litt., is into Astro-palmistry & Gems for last 45 years and has presented and published about 115 articles from “Spirituality” to “Sexuality” pertaining to Astro-Gemology by working with 48 publications, and, some of his articles were translated to few other languages. His article “SATURN & FATE” was read and appreciated by a top Oncology Researcher. His work is recognized by 29 educational bodies across the globe. He has done countless effective “Career counselling” to important and top executives from public sectors, private sectors and IT sectors since 1990 to today. He has done “GROUP COUNSELLING” through Astro-Palmistry to 24 different group of people including QUORANS on their “Career issues” who are spread across continents. His work is appreciated by clinical psychologists of St. John’s Research Institute - A wing of St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore. He has received countless feedbacks and appreciation for his work in 15 Indian languages and 4 foreign languages. He has delivered lectures and participated in astrology conferences both nationally and internationally.

In today’s world it is difficult to categorize the profession because in today’s world anything and everything is done with professional attitude and accuracy where rewards and awards are earned - whether a person is dictated or guided by “individual fate” or “group fate” that he or she belongs to. Very broadly we can classify all work (profession) activity into 2 groups that is JOBS and CAREERS, and, we may fairly say jobs as “money centric” works without growth prospects or career prospects where one just earns money for his or her work and this may be called as working class. In today’s world of employment there are no long term assured jobs with long term assured incomes or assured earnings, they are only money jobs without career prospects in such a situation career building takes backseat, and almost all jobs in today’s employment scene has ‘Early Voluntary Retirement Schemes’ (EVRS) and ‘Early Compulsory Retirement Schemes’ (ECRS). This is the general scenario of the employment market. There are EVRS & ECRS in jobs scene because the working class is trained to do monotonous work where much of thinking and decision making is not involved because of which nonproductive stage is reached early resulting in general health hazards so EVRS is inevitable. The Five Constituents of Panchanga | Yagnavalkya Yagnavalkya writes on the Panchanga and its five constituents - Thithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana. This scholar also gives us useful hints on selecting Muhurthas and gives very valueable hints. In considering Tithi, generally, the 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, Full moon – Pournami and New Moon - Amavasya are avoided. In some parts of South India, New Moon day is believed to be auspicious. About Vaara, in general Tuesday and Saturday are considered inauspicious though they are valid for surgical operations. One should note that in Indian Astrology, the weekday is said to commence from sunrise. Of the twenty-seven Nakshatras, Bharani and Krittika are avoided for all works. This is because they are presided by Yama, the lord of death. Among the Yogas, Vishkumbha, Atiganda, Soola, Ganda, Vyaghata, Vajra, Vyatipata, Parigha and Vydhruti are considered inauspicious and have to be avoided for auspicious functions. Some add Dhriti also to the list. Of the Karanas, Bhadra is the most unwanted while Bava and Thaithula are very auspicious.

Tithi

The Moon takes a little over two and half days, to traverse one zodiacal sign. It travels approximately 12° per day and in Hindu measuring of time, this is called Tithi or a lunar day. This corresponds to the phases of the Moon. It is actually a measurement of the progress of the Moon along the zodiacal belt in its relationship with the position of the Sun. The Moon overtakes the Sun once a month, after a close embrace with it, which we call as the New Moon day or Amavasya. At that moment the longitudes of the two luminaries will become identical. Thereafter the relative displacement of the Moon from the Sun will be at the same rate of 12º. So, to traverse the 360º to complete its one round of the zodiac, the Moon takes 30 such time slots. Each of these slots is called a Tithi or a lunar day. Thus one lunar month is the duration of one orbit of the Moon around the earth. So, in all, we get 30 Tithis for one full revolution of the Moon around the zodiac. This period is subdivided into two parts of fifteen Tithis of the bright-half or Shuklapaksha (Sudi) when the Moon moves way from the Sun and fifteen of the dark-half or Krishnapaksha (Vadi) when she moves towards the Sun. Shuklapaksha is the period when the Moon is waxing, beginning on the New Moon (Amavasya) and extending to the Full Moon (Pournima). Krishnapaksha, the period when the Moon is waning, begins after the Full Moon and The astrological emagazine

extends till the next New Moon. During the period of Krishnapaksha, when the Moon gradually wanes and loses her digits of brightness to finally disappear into darkness or enter the world of manes or Pitrus is considered to be unfavourable for the performance of any auspicious ceremonies. However, the period of Shuklapaksha is considered favourable for such favourable actions that require growth and progress. It is held that as the Moon disappears fully on the Amavasya day, the five Tithis following Amavasya from Prathama to Panchami, when the Moon is slowly trying to gain her digits, of the first frequency, would be weak and therefore are inauspicious. In the second frequency of the Shuklapaksha the Tithis from Shasti to Dasami, the Moon would have increased her digits to some extent and hence are considered neutral, being neither auspicious nor inauspicious. The Tithis of the third frequency of the bright half namely Ekadasi to Pournami the Moon would have become powerful endowed with full digits and hence are considered auspicious. On the other hand, in the dark fortnight, after the Pournami the five Tithis from Prathama to Panchami, the Moon will be slowly decreasing in her digits, but yet will have strength and are therefore considered fully auspicious. As in the bright fortnight, the Tithis of the dark half from Shasti to Dasami will have mediocre strength for the Moon and hence considered neither auspicious nor inauspicious. In the third frequency of the dark half from Ekadasi to Amavasya, the Moon slowly becomes devoid of strength. The Moon becomes completely weak on the Amavasya day and is held inauspicious.

The Week This a period of cycle of seven days reckoned from the midnight of Saturday in the western countries. In India, the weekday is reckoned from the sunrise only. For convenience, we take the week to start from the sunrise of Sunday. The week has been in use in India and the Eastern countries since prehistoric times. The same denominations employed by us are found also in the calendars of Jews, Egyptians, Arabs and Assyrians. Of the seven weekdays Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are considered auspicious. Some consider Mondays as inauspicious when the Moon is weak. For specific purposes the weekdays ruled by malefics like Sunday, Tuesday and APRIL 2019

Panchanga for April 2019 First column gives the English dates and next to it the names of the regional months and dates. The ending moments of Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana are given in the 24 hour clock extending to 30 hours. Of the Nityayogas, Vishkumbha, Parigha, Vyatipata, Vajra, Vyaghata, Vaidhruthi, Sula, Ganda and Atiganda are generally spurned for auspicious events and they are marked in red in the Panchanga. Vydhruti pervades from 346°40’ to 360° and Vyatipata from 213°20’ to 226°40’ of the sum of the Nirayana longitudes of the Sun and the Moon. Vydhruti and Vyatipata punyakaala are observed on the day when the yogas prevail for 1½ hours or more, when Sraddha is performed by the astute. These two belong to the shannavati -96- Sraddhas ordained for a householder. Considering the astronomical implications, the Sayana Vydhruti and Vyatipata days are also indicated in the Panchanga. The auspicious Amritayoga and Siddhayoga and inauspicious Maranayoga and Prabalarishtayoga come under Amirtaadiyoga scheme and are different from the Nityayogas. The Karana is the half of the Tithi. They are mainly classified as Sthira - fixed or immovable and Chara or moveable. The Chara Karanas are seven in number and the Sthira are only four. The fixed ones are inauspicious. They are Sakuni, Chatushpada, Naga and Kimsatugna. The seven movable Karanas are in their order, Bava, Baalava, Kaulava, Taitila, Gara, Vanija and Vishti (or Bhadra.) Among the movable Karanas Vishti or Bhadra is considered to be of dreadful. The forbidden Karanas are marked in red for easy identification. We have most of our religious observances pegged on to the Tithis. Pournamipooja Chandradarisana, Sankataharachaturthi Vrata, Shastivrata, Ekadasi Vrata and Pradosha are specially mentioned in the Panchanga. Pournamipooja is done in the evenings on days the full Moon is prevalent. Chandradarisana is observed on the evening on the day when the crescent Moon appears for the first time in the west after the Amavasya. Chaturthi of the Krishnapaksha or Bahula Chaturthi of every month is known as Sankataharachaturthi. The evenings of Sukla and Krishna Trayodasi days are specially observed as Pradosha Vrata days.
