Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao examines Rahu’s influence on marriage, specifically how its positioning can signal marital challenges. Commonly associated with turmoil during its dasa periods, Rahu’s role in marital discord is further dissected through the author’s Rahu-Centric Theory. He presents a structured method to identify potential marital discord by analyzing malefic aspects on Rahu and afflictions to the 7th house using real-life cases.
As part of the monthly series Vedic Astrology 101, Dr. S. Archna Murthy educates us on the Vedic concept of Yuga. This system of time cycles connects cosmic, astronomical, and human events. Yuga reflects natural patterns like day-night cycles and extends to human evolution across the Krita, Treta, Dwapara, and Kali Yugas. Our Vedic Sages with their keen observational skills, recognized patterns in the celestial dome—day to night to day transitions, the Moon’s phases, and the stellar dance through seasons. These were not mere curiosities; they were paramount for the timing of agricultural activities, travel planning, and others required the survival of human societies.
In an exploration of Ketu’s astrological influence Mohan Raja carefully examines how Ketu’s positioning—particularly in the trines and 11th houses—can signify government service, wealth, and career success. In his well-researched paper, he
observes that Ketu’s placement in certain houses— especially with a supportive Sun—indicates potential for roles tied to government income and influence. He extends the analysis to other planets, suggesting career prominence based on their placements. Notably, Mohan Raja explores the horoscopes of famous personalities like Arvind Kejriwal, Lata Mangeshkar, and Amitabh Bachchan to illustrate these principles, linking Ketu’s impact with their career paths.
This month, we’re excited to introduce you to a new scholar, Kartik Srinivasan. His paper explores how Vedic Astrology can provide insights into an individual’s potential for a career in sports. He has discovered that professional success in sports is often tied to one’s inherent strengths and life purpose, which can be influenced by planetary combinations in astrological charts. Srinivasan identifies key astrological patterns that frequently indicate a predisposition towards becoming a professional athlete. To illustrate these concepts, he examines the astrological chart of cricketer Ravi Shastri, highlighting the role of key astrological planets shaping his successful sports career.

What is The Jyothirlinga?
The term Jyothirlinga embodies the quintessential essence of Lord Shiva, depicted as a radiant pillar of light, signifying both his infinite nature and his presence in the tangible world. As described in the Shiva Purana, particularly in the Kotirudra Samhita, these sacred symbols are where Shiva manifested himself in a fiery column of light, symbolizing no beginning or end, thus representing infinity. There are 12 principal Jyothirlingas
1. Somanātha at Somanath Pattan, Gujarat, 2. Mallikārjuna or Śrīśaila on a mountain near the river Kṛṣṇā, in Andhrapradesh
Our Chief Editor Bangalore Niranjan Babu concludes in the cover story of November 2024 issue of The Astrological eMagazine
“As we navigate through the planetary transits and astronomical events, and the myriad aspects of Donald Trump’s and Kamala Harris’s astrological charts, one thing becomes abundantly clear: the 2024 election is poised to be a tightly contested race, where the horoscopes themselves seem to be in a mixed bag, reflecting the tumultuous political climate below. However, a closer analysis reveals that Trump’s positive scores are significantly greater than Kamala’s. Does this imply that the electors favour Trump?”
The Astrological eMagazine Congratulates
Sri Gary Gomes who writes in the November 2024 issue … "But in terms of favorable subperiods, given the leadership combinations in Trump’s chart and the Jupiter transits. I would give the edge to Trump. " and
Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao who concludes in the May 2024 issue of The Astrological eMagazine … “By combining all the above analysis, the indication is the Republican (opposition) party candidate Mr. Donald Trump is strong and will WIN the 2024 USA Presidential Elections and will become the 47th President of United States of America.

YUGA – SCIENCE OF TIME
Dr. S. Archna Murthy
Dr. S. Archna Murthy is an Astrology Consultant with a PhD (Astrology), M.A (Astrology), M.A Bridge (Astrology in Sanskrit), M.B.A (Singapore), Kovida (Sanskrit) and 18 years of Corporate Experience. She also spreads awareness about Astrology through her YouTube channel
In Vedic cosmology, astrology or Jyothisha plays a pivotal role, laying the groundwork for various branches of modern science. This month’s column delves into the concept of Yuga, a principal idea in Vedic astrology, exploring the sophisticated system of time keeping.
Origins of Yuga
The term “Yuga,” originating from “Yugma” (Sanskrit:
), meaning “a pair” or “twins,” initially pertained to the binary cycles observable in the natural world. This rudimentary understanding gradually evolved into a complex scheme for delineating cosmic, astronomical, and human timescales. The following are exemplifications of the primordial dual-phase cycles discerned by the vedic masters:
• Day or Diurnal Cycle: The alternation of day and night, constituting a complete rotational period of Earth.
• Month or Lunar Cycle: Divided into Shukla Paksha, the waxing phase, and Krishna Paksha, the waning phase, together forming a synodic month.
• A Year or Annual Solar Cycle: Comprising Uttarayana, the northward movement of the Sun, and Dakshinayana, its southward return, marking the solstices.
• Quinquennial Cycle: Known as Pancha Varshatmaka Yuga, which incorporates the Adhika Masa or intercalary month, appearing approximately every 2.5 years to reconcile the lunar with the solar calendar.
These observations laid the foundation for Yuga as a sophisticated time indicator, building on the interdependence between cosmic events and human existence.
Talk to yourself once in a day, otherwise you may miss meeting an intelligent person in this world
- Swami Vivekananda
Reflections on Yugma
The concept of “Yugma” extends beyond celestial cycles, reflecting the human body’s dual structures:
• Two eyes for depth perception
• Two ears for sound direction
• Nostrils regulating breathing
• Paired organs (hands, legs) mirroring nature’s harmony of opposites
These exemplify the natural law of duality and balance, akin to the cosmic harmony encapsulated by the Yuga cycles. This intrinsic duality in human anatomy reflects the same principles of opposition and balance observed in the cosmos, underscoring the appreciation and embracing of interconnectedness of the microcosm with the macrocosm as conceptualized in the vedic thought.
Yuga and Time
The concept of Yuga, rooted in Vedic cosmology, offers a unique framework for understanding the passage of time. This vedic system divides time into expansive epochs, each characterized by distinct qualities and phases of human evolution.
In Vedas, four primary Yugas represent distinct ages:
1. Krita Yuga
2. Treta Yuga
3. Dwapara Yuga
4. Kali Yuga
These epochs not only represent stages in the cosmic cycle but also reflect the progression or regression of human morality and consciousness over time.
Beyond cosmology, the Yuga concept has been adapted to describe various cultural and intellectual advancements:
• Kavya Yuga: An age defined by its literary output, where poetry and prose flourished.
• Prabandha Yuga: An era noted for its narrative histories, encapsulating the storytelling tradition of the time.

KETU AND PROFESSION
AM Raja
AM Raja, an engineer turned astrologer from Tirupati, was guided towards astrology by his mother. He deepened his knowledge by earning a master’s degree in Jyothisha and studying psychology, yoga, and Mantra Śāstras. He studied traditional astrology from Sri Achyutananda tradition under Sri Jagannath Puri and Pandit Sanjay Rath. Raja offers consultations and teaches astrology globally, and serves as an Upadhyaya for the Devaguru Bṛhaspati Center. He resides near the Padmavati Ammavari temple in Tirupati, dedicated to guiding people on their life paths.
Ketu is associated with both spiritual liberation and material blessings like wealth, children, and health [1]. Ketu is also considered a positive influence on one’s career and professional success [2]. The specific sloka from Pulipani Jyothidam (Sloka 170) [3] is used to interpret Ketu’s influence on government-related job and income in this work. It is also extended to other planets based on the referred sloka.

The verse talks about the placement of a serpent (Ketu) in angular positions or 11th position and the various results it brings, such as profits from one’s country or foreign lands, acquisitions of gold and property, attaining leadership positions like that of Indra, and success in household affairs. The presence of the “red snake” seems to bring a mix of both positive and negative effects depending on its placement.
In this paper, Only Ketu or other planets, when located in the Kona and 11th houses as stated in the sloka, is discussed. The remaining portion of the sloka falls outside the scope of this discussion. The connection between Ketu being positioned in the Kona and 11th house and its association with government matters can be elucidated by referencing the principles outlined below.
்லொ்ம (lāpam) – Profit or gain (11th house);
கொணம (kōṇam) – Angular position (1, 5 and 9th house);
சுயகே (suyadēsa) – Own country ; ்ரகே (paradēsa) – Foreign country ; அரொல (arasāl) – By the government;

RAHU CENTRIC THEORY, PART-5, MARRIAGE RELATED
Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao
Dr. Nemani Venkata Raghunatha Rao is from Parvatipuram (Near Vizag), India and lives in San Francisco, USA. He has been practicing Vedic Astrology since 2002. A doctorate in Business Management by profession. His Jyothish Teachers are: H. Ramadas Rao, Pt. Sanjay Rath, Pt. Dakshinamoorthy Ramasamy, Swami Omkar and Madhu Babu Prakhya. He has received JyotishVisharada from the Council of Vedic Astrology (CVA), USA and he can be reached via email: RaoN1008@ Gmail.com.
In this Part-5 of the Paper, I will introduce the role of Rahu in the area of Marriage. Most of the astrologers know that Rahu dasa or Rahu Antara dasa or Rahu pratyantar dasa results a challenge in Marriage. Let us try knowing its reason so far? We should examine Rahu’s role in depth in Marriage and problems connected with marriage. In the previous articles I have mentioned that:
• Rahu Rules over chidras.
• Rahu is the Yoni-Mukha.
• Rahu loves to be in 4th bhava.
• 5th bhava is the Garbha Sthana
• Rahu is the felicitator of union between Male and a Female.
• Rahu is the lord of chemistry of attraction.
I am giving birth details of some males and females selected from Astrodata bank, who have marital problems and divorced. You might find other reasons for discord or marital problems in the following horoscopes but I would suggest you to look from this perspective by keeping Rahu in Yoni Mukha and Yoni Lagna.
Marriage Problems
Many a times an astrologer comes across horoscopes which defy many rules. It is sometimes difficult for their experienced eyes to detect problems regarding marital happiness. I too have had similar experience as I have seen horoscopes with seemingly no combinations to indicate divorce or separation or tormented married life, have ended up in divorce or unpleasant and shocking married life. Success or failure of a marriage has a lot to do with perceptions, Yoni Sukha ruled by 4th house, and the Karaka of 4th house is Rahu as per Rahu Centric theory. Shayya (Shayana) Sukha ruled by 12th house. With this Rahu Centric theory, a mere look at the horoscope is sufficient to tell, if the Jataka is having or
will have marital problems. Rahu is a planet which is a chaaya graha and acts only as per perceptions it is subjected to. Since Rahu according to me, rules over inputs of any kind, may it be food, sight, sound smell or for that matter semen (since we are talking of conjugal happiness), we should carefully study Rahu’s condition. Rahu is also the undisputed lord of chemistry and neuro transmission of impulses and conduit to the brain.
Any short circuiting of Rahu/Ketu results in discords in human perceptions. We need to look at the 5th house and if the 5th house, the thinking pad is affected, then there is hell in married life. You should not forget that Rahu rules over all Chidras, meaning body openings. Hence if Rahu is subjected to harshness of Saturn, Mars or Sun etc., you should look for troubled married life. Rahu’s association or aspect of any bad house lords’ results in same problem too.
Now, let me share you a method to study the horoscope for marital discord.
Generate the horoscope using Yoni Mukha Lagna (YML) by placing Rahu in the 4th house, and then review the following principles to evaluate marital problems.
Principle-1: Look for malefic aspects on this 7th house.
Principle-2: Look for 7th lord’s afflictions or in placed in Dusthanas.
Generate the horoscope by assigning the sign where Rahu is located as Yoni Lagna (YL), and then review the following principles to evaluate marital problems.
Principle-3: Look for affliction of Yoni Lagna by aspect or association.
Principle-4: Look for 2nd bhava lord afflicted by either Sun or Mars or Saturn.

HOW YOUR HOROSCOPE REVEALS SPORTS SUCCESS
Kartik Srinivasan
Kartik Srinivasan is a professional Jyotiṣaconsultant and educator, who has been studying astrology for the past 16 years, specifically pursuing Jyotiṣa studies in the Sri Achyutananda Jyotiṣaparampara from Puri, Odisha under the tutelage of Pandit Sanjay Rath and his team.
Ever wondered why some people seem destined for greatness on the sports field while others struggle to find their footing? The answer might lie in the horoscope. Vedic Astrology offers fascinating insights into our innate talents and potential career paths. This article explores how Vedic astrology can analzye a person’s potential for a career in sports. Key indicators include Mercury (playfulness), Mars (competitiveness), the 6th house (competition), and connections to Virgo (work).
A person’s profession is closely tied to the core karma they are meant to fulfill in this lifetime, serving as a key channel for the resolution of accumulated prarabdha karma. Those who achieve professional success often do so by discovering a career that aligns with their intrinsic strengths and life purpose. However, such alignment is not a privilege enjoyed by everyone. The ability of Jyotish (Vedic astrology) to offer insights into a person’s ideal career path has long been a focal point for astrologers.
One field where success and failure are unambiguous and leave little room for speculation is professional sports. For athletes, sports become a lifelong career commitment. As such, their astrological charts often reveal significant planetary combinations that reflect and support this career trajectory.
As I delved deeper into the relationship between sports and astrology, a fundamental question emerged: what astrological factors determine whether someone will pursue sports as their profession?
I was particularly curious about how one might pinpoint a specific sport—for example, what astrological indicators make someone a cricketer, boxer, or tennis player. I even shared a theory on my YouTube channel, where I explored why Neeraj Chopra became a javelin thrower. However, I must admit that these theories have yet to
undergo successful empirical validation. The question of determining the specific sport remains unanswered.
What has, however, withstood empirical testing is the ability to predict whether someone is likely to become a professional sportsperson. Certain planetary combinations consistently appear in the charts of athletes across various disciplines. I have studied these patterns across multiple charts, and they seem to reliably indicate the potential for a career in sports.
Astrological approach
The karaka for playing, sports is Budha or Mercury as Mercury indicates a young child and it is children who truly enjoy playing. Maharishi Parashara assigns “krīḍā” i.e. playing area to Mercury, calls Mercury as rājakumāra i.e. prince indicating the youthful age. In the Naisargika dasa of planets, Mercury rules the period of ages 4 to 123, the age when one plays the most. So, Mercury is related to sports, playing is without doubt.
But when we talk of professional sports, one cannot ignore the competitive, fighting element – this is indicated by Mars. The devata associated with Mars is Skanda, who we also know as Lord Kārtikeya or Kumāra – a young man. Mars is a fighter, a young man, just about to enter the prime of his life, unmarried i.e. a brahmacāri – this is period when one has maximum drive, aggression and can-do spirit. These are prime requisites for a sporting career.
The house which connects Mercury and Mars is the sixth house. Mars is the primary karaka of 6th house, especially in matters of fights, disputes, competitions etc. And Mercury rules the natural 6th sign of Virgo i.e. Kanya rasi. We must also factor in Rahu, for whom Kanya rasi is the Mula Trikona sign, especially as Mula Trikona pertains to work, outside as svakshetra pertains
