Remembering

Sri Surya Prakash Adi Rao

I

t is hard to believe that beloved Sri Surya Prakash left us fifty-two years ago. The name and the memory of a handsome youth, college athlete, sportsman of high ability and above all a remarkable astrology scholar remains ever fresh among the astrological fraternity. Sri Surya Prakash exploded into the astrological world at an early age. It appears that sometimes youngpersons of extraordinary abilities are recalled to the Heaven. Adi Shankaracharya, Swami Vivekananda, mathematics genius Sri Ramanujam and Sri Surya Prakash were some of the favored children of God to leave earth at early ages.

A brief review of his chart follows. He was born on February 11th 1935 at 5.20 am at Bangalore. The Rasi chart indicates the Ascendant is Virgo and its lord Venus is in the12th with exalted Mercury. Two debilitating planets often indicate challenging situations. Venus is debilitated but its association with exalted Mercury cancels the debilitation. Debilitated Sun, Lord of 11th is in lagna. However, lagna is hemmed or sandwiched between two beneficial plants, Jupiter and Mercury. Ascendant is, therefore, positive or encouraging. Typical of Virgo Ascendants, Sri Surya Prakash exhibited high intelligence and memory at a young age. Exalted Mercuryindicates his debating and speech skills. Saturn, lord of 4 and 5 indicates that it is very beneficial. Saturn aspects 2nd house. This reflects his significant literary skills and optimism. He wrote extensively state-of-the-art articles on astrology and related subjects. He, a youth, was also The astrological emagazine

an “outside-the-box” thinker. His father, Dr. B.V. Raman was impressed by his vast abilities and great talent. A close review of the planetary arrangements helps in understanding the primary astrological reasons for the short life of Sri Surya Prakash. Two debilitating planets often indicate challenging situations. Venus, lord of lagna and 8thhouse is in the 12th house and is debilitated. Eleventh lord Sun is debilitated and occupies lagna. Moon, lord of 10th is associated with Mars, lord of 2nd and 7th houses and the incendiary planet Rahu. Astrological scholars can further study or evaluate the other planetary indications that could show the short but a glorious life.

³eesie Jeeefmeÿ Datta VijayanandaTeertha Swamiji

(Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, the junior pontiff of Datta Peetham, referred as Bala Swamiji by Datta devotees is born in a traditional Brahmin family on 14th January, 1977 in Mysore. The boy named Harsha Vardhana Sharma had his Vedic education in Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Veda Patashala. He entered the Mysore Ashram in the year 1985 and studied the Sastras and the Vedas. While serving Guru, he acquired the M.A. degree in Sanskrit. In 1999 he received mantra initiation from His Holiness Sadguru Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji. In 2004 he received the orders to become an ascetic (Sanyasa Deeksha) and was announced as the spiritual successor of Avadoota Datta Peetham on 30th May, 2004. With collosal knowledge of the shastras Sri Swamiji has been interpreting Vedas in simple language to influence many lives. He observes Chaturmasya Deeksha every year. He is also keenly interesed in service to society. In Vijayawada, he has arranged for a shelter for the protection of cows. In Machilipatnam, he has arranged for the free feeding of school children once a month. In Nuzvidu, he has arranged for free food distribution once a week at the Devadeva Datta Kshetra to the children of the orphanage run by Sneha rights. Swamiji has also arranged for these children to be taught bhajans and prayers. In the Chennai Ashram, he has arranged for free food distribution once a week to deaf and mute children. In Eluru, he has arranged for a free meal every week for the elderly who live in Homes for the Aged. In Warangal, he has arranged for free food for youngsters who are HIV positive. At the government school in Gowrishankar Nagar in Mysore, he has arranged for the supply of nutritious food once a week. He has organized for the donation of clothing, school fees, and school supplies for needy children. At the Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram in Rishikesh, he has arranged for serving free food for 20 ascetics daily. In addition to the above, Sri DattaVijayananda Teertha Swamiji conducts various other social and spiritual activities. In the year 2014 during the sacred period of Chaturmasya Deeksha Sri Bala Swamiji discoursed on the Yoga Vashista. These discourses are brought to you, as a series of articles. Due credit is given to Smt. Hira Duvvuri and Miss Madhu Gopi, both sincere and dedicated devotees of Datta Peetham, for translating and editing the discourses from telugu to english. Yoga Vasishta is one of the greater spiritual texts and is said to be the conversation between Lord Sri Rama and Sage Vasishta. This text goes into much details of the subtle intricacies of the mind and is said to answer all questions that arise in one’s mind.)

Discourse delivered on July 23, 2014 Jaya Guru Datta Sri Ganesaya Namaha, Sri Saraswatyai Namaha/ Sripada Vallabha Narasimha Saraswati, Sri Guru Dattatreyaya Namaha/ Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Sadgurubhyo Namaha// Asato ma Sadgamaya, Tamaso ma Jyotirgamaya/ Mrityor ma AmrtamGamaya, Om Santissantissantihi// We spoke yesterday (August 2015 issue) about Rama’s pilgrimage as described in the 3rd sarga. Rama climbed all the mountains, bathed in all the rivers and oceans, and he worshiped at all the shrines. This was Sri Rama’s first pilgrimage in his life. Rama had not gone on any fun excursions before. He had never been on such a long

tour as this any time before. This was his first outing of this kind. These days many who go on a pilgrimage do not return home due to avoidable or unavoidable calamities. Many youngsters behave with misjudgment, lose their lives and bring great grief to their parents and elders. Many callously spoil the places they visit by polluting the atmosphere physically and with negative mental vibrations. They deface the natural beauty. They engage in unholy activities while at holy places. Such things should be shunned. Either engage in appropriate activities such as worship or meditation, or return home. Do not expect to find frivolous entertainment is ashrams and temples. Do not travel during dangerous hours. Do not put the blame on God for the accidents you have met with due to your own poor judgment and negligence. Many times the

orn into a family of humble means in Tamil Nadu, on the 15 October 1931 in small village, Rameswaram, at the southern tip of the Indian mainland, as the youngest of five children of an ordinary Muslim boat owner, Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam became a highly accomplished and much respected individual and became the eleventh President of India (from 2002 to 2007). Dr. Kalam's road to success was not an easy path but every moment of his life was eventful and invigorating. Kalam grew up in humble surroundings and had to take up a job while he was still in school in order to augment his family’s meagre income— he distributed newspapers to help his father in providing for the family. He was a bright young boy, blessed with a thirst for knowledge and was always eager to learn new things. He completed his schooling from Ramanathapuram Schwartz Matriculation School and proceeded to study physics at the Saint Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, from where he graduated in 1954. Then he studied aerospace engineering in Madras Institute of Technology, graduating in 1960. His childhood ambition was to become a fighter pilot, which eluded him that made him join the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the DRDO, as a scientist. He got the opportunity to work with the renowned space scientist, Vikram Sarabhai. Joining ISRO in 1969, as the project director of India's SLV-III, and spending four decades as a scientist and science administrator at The astrological emagazine

several prestigious organizations, he came to be known as the India's "Missile Man". Becoming the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister, he played a key role in the Pokharan II nuclear tests. He became the President of India on the 25th July 2002, and his term lasted till 25 July 2007. Recipient of many prestigious awards like Padma Bhushan; Padma Vibhushan; and the Bharat Ratna, Dr Kalam, took them lightly on his shoulders and lived as a very simple person with just a few personal possessions. orn in Dhanushkodi in 1931 Dr. Kalam, India's foremost 'Missile' scientist, who was awarded the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 1990 became the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. Awarded the highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' in 1997, he rose to become the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest on July 27, 2015 and passed away. Given aside are the birth and death charts of Dr. Kalam. The position of the Moon in both charts indicates its placement in the mysterious sign of Scorpio. The Moon dispositor Mars in both charts situated in the airy sign is indicative that most of his scientific life was engaged. It is interesting to note the constellation occupied by Mars belongs to the constellation of Jupiter. In the birth chart Mars is in the constellation of Vishaka 2nd pada 25:56 in Libra. In the death chart Mars occupies the constellation of Punarvasu 3rd pada 27:50 in Gemini. The disposition of Mars in both charts is in harmony as Gemini and Libra mutual trines. Mars in birth chart posited in Vargottamma pada too.

Sun/Mercury in Western Setting with Natal Jupiter On 27th July 2015, when Dr. Kalam collapsed on the stage, Sun/Mercuruy were setting in the western sky. They were in the sign occupited by his natal Jupiter. The setting Sun was influenced by natal Jupiter which was in the constellation of Aslesha , whose lord Mercury which owns the 6th and 9th house for Capricorn sign rising in the eastern horizon. Rahu & Ketu Axis The Rahu/Ketu axis in the both birth and death chart shows Pisces and Virgo axis. Ketu occupies the 12th house of the zodiac. It is often associated with emancipation or transformation to other plane, sometimes referred to as Mokshasthana in natural zodiac. It is very interesting to note both birth Rahu constellation and death Ketu constellation lord were Saturn. This shows a complete cycle. Date

s I have not yet examined the contents of the Nadi-volumes, (Dhruva) I was feeling handicapped not having the list of 150 names. I wrote to many individuals and public libraries for a list of the names and I was not successful. When I casually made mention of this matter to the late Prof. P. P. Subramanya Sastry, Professor of Sanskrit of Presidency College, Madras, who was also Curator of the Madras Government Oriental Manuscripts Library, he said he had no copy of Dhruva-Nadi in his Library, but, he would give me a copy of the list of 150 names recorded in another astrological work known as DEVA-KERALA or Deva-Keraleeya by ACHYUTA. (5) It is quite possible some of your readers may have with them the list of names. It is however likely, majority of them do not. For their benefit, I shall record the list as found in Devakeraleeya. They are all delightful names. They are all names of females. The reason perhaps is that each amsa may be viewed as having a presiding goddess, and this in a way might justify the choice of names of females. The list commences with a preliminary statement.
