Benedictory Message from our Kulaguru Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri
A Purposeful Day Today people usually refer to certain days as special or as red-letter days. Often times, they regard such days as special when they have met a famous personality. In the case of institutions, it is considered as a golden day, when a foundation stone is laid or a new project is launched. However there is a verse that states what our ancestors considered to be a special or purposeful day: कृतग ोदक ानं ुतभारतस थं । अिचता ुतपादा ं िदनं क शता रं ।। (That day when you have had the opportunity to be in a holy place, that day when you have heard the noble stories related to God, and that day when the Lotus Feet of God have been worshipped, is considered better than (even) a hundred years of Brahma.) Our forefathers felt complete if they were able to visit a holy place. They used to await the day when they could get the opportunity to go to Kashi. Their thoughts were, “Would I be able to go to Kashi? Would I be able to complete a holy dip in the Ganga? Would I have the Darshan of Lord Vishweshwara?” They felt that their lives would be purposeful if they were able to visit Kashi at least once in their lifetime. Similarly, a day on which Puranas and Itihasas such as Mahabharata, Ramayanam, Bhagavatam, Shiva Puranam, Devi Puranam, Markandeya Puranam etc., were recited, was considered an auspicious day. Also, a day on which Puja to Ishwara was offered with supreme devotion was considered to be a purposeful day. We think that our life is getting purposeful as we keep making progress in the worldly life. What we tend to achieve in the worldly life is only enough for progress in this world. All the progress that we seemed to have made in this world will not be of any help in the next world (para-loka) or during a rebirth. Whatever Dharma (or) Ishwara Puja we do in this birth will benefit us during a rebirth. May everyone understand this, make their days purposeful and attain Shreyas.

EDITOR’S NOTE Dear Readers,
India. Born on 22 December 1887, he lived for only 32 years 04 months, but has an astounding 120 plus theorems to his credit! What role did planets play to make Srinivasa Ramanujan so extraordinary? Do not miss this intriguing analysis by Dr. Rahul Raveendran Nair where he uncovers mainly the reasons behind the mystical side of Ramanujan’s short life using astrological reasoning.
दे वानां च ऋषीणां च गु ं कनकसि भम् । बु पूण ि लोकेशं तं गु ं णमा हम् ॥ Jupiter is the teacher of Gods and Sages. He is the very personification of knowledge and intelligence. He is also Trilokesha or the lord of the three worlds. On April 5, 2021, Jupiter moves out of debility and lands in Aquarius. Jupiter is free from the conjunction with Saturn. Lalitha Donatella Riback provides predictions for Jupiter’s Aquarius transit for all the signs. Get acquainted with the possibilities and take advantage of the benefits the transit has to offer. It is certainly a positive transition for most signs and will be a great blessing and a healing to remove our sorrows from the challenges of 2020.
Planetary aspects play an important role in astrological predictions. Ranjith K throws light on the hidden geometry and secrets behind planetary aspects. Also, he puts forward an idea that humans are perceiving the impact of creatures from 6th dimension and its aspect pattern matching with the sixth dimensional geometry. Food is referred as Anna Brahman in Vedas because it promotes health, strength, energy and life. So, the food that we humans eat should be simple, nourishing, and soothing. Being conscious of the food we consume is more important now than ever. When the world battles a pandemic, it is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that the food they eat is healthy and support boosting immunity. Dr. N. Chandrashekar provides guidance on the planetary significance of various food items we eat and how it impacts our body.
In Indian tradition, women marry at a certain age. But second marriage for women especially when husband is dead or divorced is a bigger challenge. As per Nadi Astrology principles, Shani becomes the Karaka for second husband. H Ramadas Rao explains how one can analyse the charts of the second husband and know if he is the right one for the female. Astrology is the only accurate science that can indicate the possibility of occurrence of a disease and advice on antidotes to prevent or delay the onset. The sixth house from Rahu indicates the possible disease for that horoscope. Also, one may delineate the disease by taking the sign in which Rahu is posited. Sri. K B Gopalakrishnan and Kaushik V P share their combined knowledge on how one can determine possibility of various diseases based on planetary positions. They provide a detailed study of five charts to present their views.
This time around, we are presenting a book review of Vijnanada Tathvika Nele, a Kannada book written by Sri V K Talithaya that offers deep philosophical thoughts of science by philosophers and often by scientists. Grab the book for insightful perspectives on different dimensions of science. We end with the monthly features with the most awaited predictions for your Moon signs, Ephemeris and Calendar for the month of May.
The Ever Given container ship shook the entire world economically. The ship, which is longer than four football fields, has been wedged diagonally across the Suez Canal strangling world supply chains. In one of the toughest rescue operations, tugboats spent several hours to dislodge the ship. Can we learn astrological lessons from this unique incident that literally got the global supply chain crippled with an estimated loss of about $US 1 billion? In this unique astrological detailing, R S Maniam provides an in-depth perspective of the whole situation.

The rising constellation of the ascendant which falls at 13320 in Aries itself shows some associated complications. The asterism Bharani is depicted as Yama, the God of death or death like situation. It is also associated with struggling and suffering and even confinement as discussed by astrologer RVA. Though the incident does not cause any death but it has caused tremendous loss for economic trade actvities, as reported by BBC. The cost of Suez Canal blockage is about 12% of global trade, around one million barrels of oil and roughly 8% of liquefied natural gas pass through the canal each day.

Introduction
texts is that most of them give predictions without any special use of lagna. Here Jupiter is treated as lagna for male natives and Venus as lagna for female natives. Various matters of life are discussed by using the causative planets for those aspects. For example, if education of person is to be studied then Mercury is taken as causative planet. Late Shri R G Rao of Bangalore has discussed these aspects in his work on “Brighu-Nandi Nadi” by taking combination of planets in trine (1,5,9) and opposition (3,7,11) to the causative planets.
Ever since human life has evolved on earth there has always been a quest to understand destiny and reason for occurrence of various events in an individual’s life. Our ancient sages had brilliant vision through which were able to predict the events of occurrence. Many of their readings have been written in palm leaves and these have been stored in various places of India. These leaves are popularly called as Nadi leaves, which contain the horoscopes of many living persons. Many Valluvar families in Tamil Nadu have stored these leaves written by the ancient seers. These Nadi palm leaves are named after the sage who has written. Usually, it is written in old Tamil dialect or Sanskrit. The Nadi text written by sage Agasthya is called as “Agasthya Nadi”. Similarly, we have Brighu Nadi, Nandi Nadi, Suka Nadi, Vasistha Nadi, Kakabhujandar Nadi, Saptarishi Nadi (Written by seven celestial sages) are some of the popular Nadi texts. Each of these Nadi texts are written in specific format. For example, in Agasthya Nadi the horoscopes are written in front of Goddess Parvathi along with lord Ganesha and Karthikeya. The speciality of these Nadi May 2021
In our present work we propose a method to identify the possible diseases indicated in the horoscopes. In “Nandi Nadi”, sage Nandikeshwara has identified Rahu as the causative planet for diseases.
Method and Examples The sixth house from Rahu indicates the possible disease for that horoscope. Also, one may delineate the disease by taking the sign in which Rahu is posited. The body parts may be taken from Rahu as shown in table given in the next page 6

Jupiter, the great benefic, has moved to Aquarius or Kumbha on April 5, 2021 (April 6, 2021 IST).
• Jupiter will re-enter Aquarius on November 20, 2021.
Jupiter is now free from the conjunction with Saturn, and a restricting influence on Jupiter, the planet of expansion, space, faith, righteousness, good fortune, wealth, higher wisdom, children, and divine ideas.
Jupiter in the Nakshatras in 2021 Dhanishta
On April 5 Eastern Time at his entrance in Aquarius, Jupiter will be in Dhanistha (or Delphini), a four-star constellation known as “the wealthiest” that’s associated with both musical abilities and prosperity.
Plus, Jupiter will benefit from the strong positions of the rulers of Aquarius, Saturn (in Capricorn or Makara) and Rahu (exalted in Taurus or Vrishabha). Therefore Jupiter will receive much support to right wrongs, and take on a compassionate, innovative approach.
Dhanishta is ruled by Mars and the Eight Vasus, the Vedic solar Gods of pure light and energy that bestow wealth and success, but also spiritual blessings.
So the themes of Aquarius like networking, media events, research, humanitarian activities, social improvements, astronomy, space travel, and even astrology will flourish.
In this dynamic and energetic nakshatra ruled by friendly Mars, Jupiter will go a long way to help individuals rebuild their finances. Jupiter will also bring associations with powerful individuals for the common good of society. Influential groups can help with positive and profitable reforms.
Jupiter in Aquarius will be a great blessing and a healing balm to remove our sorrows from the challenges of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Jupiter was in Capricorn for one year (April 1, 2020-April 5, 2021), and the yellow planet will retrograde back into Capricorn between September 14 and November 20, 2021.
The Gana of Dhanishta is Rakshasa, so materialistic concerns may be superior to humanitarian and spiritual initiatives. But Kumbha’s compassion for the poor will also be present. So this will be an overall great transit for Jupiter.
Jupiter will be more generous from Aquarius and there will be a return to ethics, healing, traveling, studies, research, and generally more wisdom. Inspiration and innovation will rebuild the spirit of the human race and help overcome previous financial losses.
Shatabhisha On May 2, 2021, Jupiter will enter Shatabhisha (or Gamma Aquarii) and will stay until July 20, when Jupiter will retrograde into Dhanishta.
Important dates:
In Shatabhisha, the transit of Jupiter will be a bit more problematic
• Jupiter in Aquarius will begin its retrograde on June 20, 2021. • Jupiter retrograde will enter Capricorn on September 14, 2021. • Jupiter will turn direct in Capricorn on October 18, 2021. May 2021
In fact, Shatabhisha is known as the “100 physicians” (but also as the “100 demons”), and it’s ruled by the north lunar node Rahu and Varuna, the God of the sacred waters of the sea, and the West direction. 9

TIMING SECOND MARRIAGE FOR FEMALES
TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
H Ramadas Rao H Ramadas Rao was born in 1952 in a traditional Madhva Brahmin family of Kashyapa Maharshi lineage from Surathkal near to Mangalore. Through the Blessings of Shri Raghavendra Swami Ji of Mantralaya, he started learning Jyotish with the books written by Dr. B.V. Raman. In 1991, he got Mantra Diksha from a Shri Vidya Upasaka from Udupi. His interest in Jyotishya increased and he studied Jaimini Jyotishya and later Nadi Jyotishya from Shri R.G. Rao. He regularly writes articles on Nadi Jyotishya on his Facebook page and currently teaches Nadi Jyotish in Surathkal.
With the blessings of my Kula Devatha, Ishta Devatha, Acharya Madhva and my Nadi Jyotisha Guru Shri R.G. Rao, I am writing here an article which is related to second marriage for a female native.
Shani’s Antara gave her marriage in 2011 on May 23rd as Guru aspects Shani. But the married life was not at all good. Finally, during Rahu – Ketu Antara in 2014 to 2016, she came back to her parents’ house and during Shukra’s Antara where Shukra is placed in Mesha Rasi ruled by Kuja, the case went to court and finally in 2018, the female native got divorce.
As per Nadi Astrology principles, Shukra is the Karaka for stree/female, Kuja is the Karaka for pati or husband. But this Kuja is Pati Karaka for 1st husband. Suppose if the first husband dies or divorced, then which planet indicates second husband in a female chart? As stated by Shri R.G. Rao in his book “Essence of Nadi Astrology” page number 221, Shani becomes the Karaka for second husband.
Here I want to tell an important point which I took from Saptarishi Nadi that if 7th house lord is placed in his own house and even though he is afflicted by Rahu/Ketu, the native will have a married life again. In addition to this, 2nd house lord Shukra, even though is placed in 8th house, he aspects his own 2nd house, so the female native will have a beautiful married life. This is further confirmed by the placement of 11th house lord Chandra in 9th house who is in his Moola Trikona Sthana of Vrshabha rasi. He is with Surya who is 12th house lord but Surya is considered weak in Vrshabha rasi. So, considering all these points, during Rahu dasa (as he gives the results of 4th and 7th house lord Guru) Chandra’s Antara, her 2nd marriage should take place. This will be between 3rd December 2019 and 3rd June 2021. Here still shortening to Pratyantara Dasa, it will be during Shukra’s Pratyantara Dasa as Shukra is 2nd house (Kutumba Sthana) lord placed in 8th house aspecting 2nd house itself. So, her 2nd marriage should take place between 4th February 2021 and 7th May 2021.
How to analyse the characteristics of second husband, I have tried to explain using a chart given below Ra GL Gu AL

Now as per Saptarishi Nadi Method, lagna is Kanya/Virgo with Ketu in the lagna and 7th house is occupied by Rahu and Guru. As 7th house lord Guru placed in Meena rasi which is a Dwiswabhava rasi, so the female native will have two marriages. Also, Rahu is there in 7th house, so he gives the results of the planet with whom he is accompanied with. So, Rahu will give marriage in his dasa. But either Rahu or Guru is not aspecting any planet except 5th and 6th house lord Shani (R) placed in 3rd house of Vrshcika Rasi ruled by Kuja who is his enemy. As Shani is 5th house lord, he gives marriage as 5th house is in 11th to Rahu + Guru. But unfortunately, the 12th house from Rahu + Guru is also ruled by Shani. So Rahu dasa – May 2021
Now let me try to analyse through B-N Nadi Astrology. Here Shukra is the female native which is placed in Mesha rasi whose Lord Kuja is placed in Mithuna rasi with its lord Budha. Kuja is Pati Karaka and Budha is Vidya Karaka. Shani (V) is Karma Karaka. Now Budha is at a lesser longitude than Kuja, her 1st husband will have very less education as Vidya Karaka Budha cannot move ahead as his enemy Kuja is in his front. So, her 1st husband’s education was just a pre-degree (But was cheated that he was a graduate). Ketu is in Kanya rasi lorded by Budha, so planets Budha + Kuja + Ketu have a link with each 14

In the “Gamification” of modern-day human life either in democratic societies or in non-democratic societies of the world, food is a very important aspect of human life because food is the supporting yet consuming substance of all life including human life. It is called as Anna Brahman in Sanskrit because it promotes health, strength, energy and life. So, the food that we humans eat should be simple, nourishing and soothing. But, we have foods which are sour, bitter, salty, sweet, - pungent, burning, stale, bland, heavy, clean and unclean foods.
comfort food. Eating plant based diet is the most important contribution every individual can make to reversing global warming. The world is transitioning towards plant-based foods leading to sustainable farming practices which may create many more jobs than it would end. Also, nowadays, meat food is a discomfort food. For Example, today’s chicken is genetically modified and their bodies have become prisons of pain, says Mr. Jonathan Safron Foer in one of his articles in ‘International New York Times’, for which reason majority of Americans between the ages of 25-34 are vegetarians or vegans which is the reason for skyrocketing of plant-based foods.
In astrology foods are colour coded for our appetite and appreciation of food largely depends upon its appearance and beauty. Natural colour in food is appealing and the traditional food of India contains a palette of colours - saffron, gold, greens, crimsons and browns which are visually appealing and helps stimulate health and energy. The influencing colour of foods in Astrology are Red foods (for Sun), White foods (for Moon), Orange foods (for Mars), Green foods (for Mercury), Yellow foods (for Jupiter), Blue foods (for Venus) and Purple foods (for Saturn).
Traditional food of Southern India such as Idli, Sambhar, Medu Vade is a wholesome, nourishing super food; Chitranna and Puliogare reduces emotional wear and tear by helping counter negative emotions; Masala Dose is purely an emotional indulgence and interestingly just smelling of some fragrances of food from their fumes is filling by itself. For example, Nala Maharaja of Nala Damayanti story is one such cook whose paaka (cooking) was filling enough just by smelling the aroma itself. And incidentally when King Nala chose to cook while he was leading a life of incognito under the influence of Saturn (Shani) and while he was thought to be no more, his presence was finally revealed through his cooking and culinary skills to his queen Damayanti as that was his true identity.
You might come to astrologer with frustrations of the past, anxieties of the present and fear of future. My Prathama Guru Sri Subbarayalu would tell me the food one consumes favours or dis-favours their future and could be for this reason it may be said “What you eat forms your future” – in another classification we all know we humans eat 3 kinds of food in general i.e., liquid food, solid food and gaseous food, and the rest are all permutation and combination of these three states of food. Every human life begins with liquid food and ends with liquid food and in between goes for solid and gaseous foods.
According to one classification of food, to be successful in life one has to follow three types of food patterns in life i.e. Hita rukk (Friendly food) – to eat tongue friendly, body friendly, mind friendly, brain friendly and gut friendly foods.
In traditional Hindu astrology, we have Navadhanyas pertaining to Navagrahas. In modern astrology we have plant-based foods and animal-based foods i.e., plant meal and animal meal. In general, this classification favours plant-based foods as it is a May 2021
Mita rukk (Limited food) – to avoid fasting and feasting, meaning, to avoid under eating or over eating. 16

GEOMETRY BEHIND PLANETARY ASPECTS IN HINDU ASTROLOGY

Ranjith has learned the concepts of Hindu astrology and is curious to know the math and geometry applied in Astrology. He is keen about knowing the background of astrology. Be it scientific or not, a “Theory” passed on to generations should have some meaningful background, so it was taught and passed. He can be reached at ranjithkarengil@gmail.com
This article focuses on hidden geometry behind planetary aspects (Graha Drishti). Unlike Western astrology which represents planetary aspects degree wise, Hindu astrology is the only astrological system which represents planetary aspects counting from house to house.

Also, this article is to put forward an idea that, Astrology which is currently practiced, may be a “not well understood” tool which was designed with or without knowing that, humans are perceiving the impact/output/actions of creatures from 6th dimension.

HOROSCOPE OF MATHEMATICAL GENIUS SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN Dr. Rahul Raveendran Nair The author holds a Ph.D degree in Plant Biotechnology and currently works as a Research scientist in a Conservation laboratory (Aushmath Biosciences) located at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has done a course on Jyothish from Bhagyalipi Jyotirvidya Gurukula Ashram, Odisha and was awarded ‘Jyotisha Shree’ title in 2018. His research is broadly focussed on two aspects of nature, viz., tangible aspects and intangible aspects. In tangible aspects, he focusses mainly on conservation of endangered plant species in Western Ghats of India whereas in the intangible side, he enjoys investigating the planetary influences on life forms on Earth.
Introduction
In this article, the author tries to uncover mainly the reasons behind the mystical side of Ramanujan’s short life using astrological reasoning. The article is divided into 7 sections, viz., I) One-pointedness, II) High pupillary oscillations as a sign of trance, III) Hearing Lord Vishnu’s voice in trance, IV) Exotic nature of his equations, V) Basic purpose of the soul was reaching Lord Vishnu, VI) Destiny chose an unconventional teacher & VII) Alpayus (Short-life) analyses
The world recognises Srinivasa Ramanujan as one of the greatest mathematical minds of 20th century. He lived for only 32 years 04 months, but he has 120 theorems to his credit. Upon observing and analysing the life events of Ramanujan, the author (S.R. Ranganathan) of his biography “Ramanujan: The Man & The Mathematician’ relates himself to a meteor which originates quickly, glows for some time and then gets exhausted by leaving a trail. In this article, various events described in the above biography and a few other reliable sources were used to analyse his chart. In Vedic astrology, a meteor is signified by the mystical planet Ketu (Trivedi, 2019). It was surprisingly coincidental that the biographer related Ramanujan’s life with that of a meteor and in his chart, Ketu was noticed to be playing an immense role in determining his life, his career, and his death.
I) One-pointedness Fifth house represents the process of learning on which a person will depend on to a great extent for meeting his/her goals. In Ramanujan’s chart, 5th and 12th lord Venus is placed under Visakha Nakshatra in 5th house. Visakha Nakshatra helped Ramanujan to have collaboration with a series of mentors including G.H. Hardy as the last one to avail their resources to stay ‘one-pointedly’ to reach his goals in the subject of mathematics. The word ‘one-pointedness’ (Vic Dicara, 2012) is of tremendous significance in this context as Ramanujan, despite being extremely poor financially, had effectively managed to assemble all human resources he had to reach his goal. This ‘onepointedness’ was given to him by the Visakha Nakshatra. The Venus’s rulership of 12th house revealed why Ramanujan received significant help from G.H. Hardy (a foreigner) to form a remarkably effective objective-directed partnership. Nothing stopped him from reaching his goals abroad although he suffered much due to culture shock in England.

II) High Pupillary Oscillations as a Sign of Trance One of his classmates (Mr. Radhakrishna Ayyar) in Pachaiyappa college, Chennai recollected in the biography that Ramanujan had experienced high levels of pupillary responses resulting in seemingly

BOOK REVIEW BY SRI M. L. SESHADRI

VIJNANADA TATHVIKA NELE
The author, Sri V K Talithaya discusses the different dimensions of science such as the laws of nature, growth of science, scientific method, science and ethics, science and future and if God plays dice in ten different chapters. Happily, the reader can pick up any chapter of his choice separately. In ancient times Philosophy and Science were part of the same avocation. Eventually philosophers began thinking about science and its purpose. Karl Popper, Thomas Kuhn, Feyerabend are some such philosophers. There have also been scientists who looked at science philosophically like Bronowski, Einstein, Marcus Du Sautoy, Rovelli, Kraus and Feynman. The conclusion is very significant. The discussion dwells on the ethical problems. Ethical problems are not social problems. They are always individual problems. They cannot be solved by science. In healthy societies the way to solve ethical problems are guided by their ancient traditions, civilizational learning and the wisdom passed on for generations - wisdom passed on to us by great souls like Shankara, Guru Nanak, Gandhiji, Buddha, Jesus, Tolstoy, Einstein and many more. Happiness of human kind is possible by assimilating the thoughts and deeds of these great people. This is the relationship between science and philosophy. This is the essence of this book.
It is not usual that a reviewer is asked to review a Kannada book for an English periodical. The rational and thoughtful reader-group will, indeed, appreciate and welcome this book. This book, priced at Rs. 120 is the 5634th publication of Navakarnataka Publications. and is about the philosophical thoughts of science by philosophers and often by scientists too. Scientists and Philosophers have a common characteristic. They are always in search of something.
The author Sri V. K. Talithaya hails from Manjeshwar, the Kannada speaking part of Kerala State. He had his education in Mangalore, Chennai and Kolkotta. Sri V.K.Talithaya is a HR professional. He is the founder President and CEO of Primacy Industries Limited, a 35 million US dollar export oriented unit, promoted by Manipal Group and M/s MVP Group Intl of the US, until 2014. Under his leadership for ten years, the company grew to be one of the largest manufacturers of scented candles in the world, supplying products to all the major retailers such as WalMart, Tesco, Target, Asda etc.
Science and Philosophy have a close relationship. Philosophy of yesterday becomes the foundation for science of today. Likewise, what cannot be explained by science of today after experiment, observation, investigation and logic becomes the fodder for philosophical musing. Both Science and Philosophy have the same aim. They try to unravel the fundamental truth.
