As we move forward in the New Year, there are a few lingering uncertainties in all of our lives. Will COVID-19 go away?

Will things ever return to normal? How can I adapt to this ever-changing world we live in and stay safe?

Thankful for AIM Products Along The Way What a journey it’s been! I am incredibly thankful to have had AIM products along the way.

Due to the pandemic, hockey has taken a bit of a halt at the national level.

I was selected to play for the Canada Women’s Inline Hockey Team, and we were supposed to compete in Columbia.

However, I am still fortunate enough to have continued to play locally.

Being Responsible for Claims When making claims about health issues and business opportunities, AIM and its Members must be vigilant. We must work together to ensure that all claims do not violate government guidelines.

Being in compliance with regulations issued by governmental agencies is essential, so consider this when sharing opinions and testimonials in any format and on any platform.

Domino Effect of the Pandemic

Measures from government agencies have been in place for some time to monitor claims about health, business, etc. With the onset of the pandemic in 2020, urgent measures were taken “to protect consumers from illegal, false or misleading advertising of products claiming to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose or cure COVID-19.” 1 Claims without competent and reliable scientific evidence that even hint at products or services being beneficial in regard to the coronavirus are prohibited.

Over 300 companies responsible for making such claims have received warning

letters from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as of November 2020.2 Given that having a balanced immune system plays a vital role in staying healthy, AIM recommends highlighting products that support the immune system.

Going Public

Health Feature

AIM for a High-Fiber Intake Everything old is new again, including theories on the benefits of fiber. In 2019, The Lancet revisited the 1969 hypothesis of Denis Burkitt, aka Fiber Man: modern health issues are related to low-fiber intakes.

Burkitt recommended at least 50 grams of fiber daily based on his experiences in Africa, where he treated middle-aged Ugandans who consumed upwards of 100 grams from plant-based diets.

His patients rarely had health problems that were commonplace in countries with high-income lifestyles.1 Based on his findings, a high-fiber intake is nutritional support for the cardiovascular system.2 The Lancet article agreed with the roughly 50-year-old findings of Burkitt, noting it’s plausible that a daily intake of 50 grams of dietary fiber can make a healthy difference in people’s lives. psyllium fiber The adequate intake recommendations for adults ranges from 21–38 grams depending on age and gender. Unfortunately, the average fiber intake of most North Americans is around 15 grams.
