The concept of connecting with cinema has been changing ever since time. Having cinemas as the largest and the most approached source of entertainment in the world, the tech industry is all set to raise their bars higher to a whole new level consistently driving towards innovations far beyond imagination. Given this situation, the prominent challenges still reside in making the cinemagoing experience buoyant and cheerful. With the growth of the cinema-going audience being progressively static over the last decade, it has been a much-in-demand aspect for the cinema owners to have their auditoriums equipped with the best-in-class technology for exhibiting the content. Cinemacity IMAX is here! The brand new Zero6 lifestyle and shopping centre in Al-Jurainah, Sharjah features UAE’s biggest IMAX screen. Adorning majestic classes of seating with both partially and fully reclining chairs with extra legroom, offering in-theatre dining services, providing guests with anything from popcorn to fine dining, this multiplex is the first “All laser multiplex” in the Emirati world of flowing luxury, featuring 7 of Barco’s flagship laser projection systems having Dolby Atmos in two of their theatres for an ideal pairing of sight and sound. With the entire lobby being furnished and equipped with Italian sofas and tables to ultimate finesse and royalty, this multiplex allures the movie-goers with an atmosphere that is both comfortable and exceptional from any other multiplex. Onyx LED screens being launched first in Malaysia by Golden Screen Cinemas and now in India by PVR, Samsung’s innovative efforts continue to create enriching cinema experiences for its audience. This year experienced major acquisitions including Vue-Showtime in Ireland, Carnival-Novo in UAE and Bahrain and PVR-SPI in the Indian cinema market, the cinema market now experiences an assured and strong transition spiralling the globe. SPI’s first IMAX screen in Chennai gives the city another IMAX destination for its moviegoers. To also add, INOX recently had its bagful of luxe multi-launches across pan-India in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu; Gurugram, Delhi; Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh; Zirakpur, Punjab and Malad, Mumbai and announcing an agreement for five new IMAX theatres alongside down the line has been an exceptional news to the audience nationwide. Moviegoers, be sure to never miss this out! Galalite’s, Lensray Technology is now set to give the viewers a visual treat with a totally different cinema-viewing experience. Using concept just as similar to that of MicroLens Array, this visual noise reduction technology cuts the noise that could not only present its audience with a less than optimum viewing experience, but which could also prevent the director’s vision from being brought to life. The month of July brought a big hit to the Malayalam cinema industry with the recent torrential rains that ravaged the state with many theatres being inundated and some with massive damages. With four theatres completely damaged in the floods, and several others getting inundated, a huge amount was required to be put in for getting it back into shape. The 3rd edition of Big Cine Expo (2018), recently held at Mumbai, was a grand success, making it the world’s second largest expo for cinema exhibition by total footfalls. The 2-day event had everything for cinema exhibitors and a lot of networking opportunities for the cinema exhibition ecosystem. After the success of 2018, Big Cine Expo 2019 will be back again in Mumbai and now to a much bigger and a more professional expo space (venue: Bombay Exhibition Center). AMC Stubs A-List Exceeds a Million in Attendance! AMC Stubs A-List, which was designed to stimulate the moviegoing experience across all age groups including millennials, are already delivering on its promise and potential. Just seven weeks after launching its new loyalty program tier, AMC Theatres recently announced that AMC Stubs A-List already has been responsible for more than 1,000,000 in attendance at it’s theatres. To add on, AMC also announced that A-List has recently crossed the quarter-million membership mark, now having more than 260,000 paid enrolled members. This figure indicates about 85,000 A-List enrolments in just the past two weeks. AMC publicly reported 175,000 enrolments on July 31 previously. A-List members now account for more than 5 per cent of AMC's weekly attendance. Because A-List allows additional full-price tickets to be purchased during the reservation process, AMC reports that in the last week, for example, about 40 per cent of A-List moviegoers purchased additional paid tickets to watch a movie.
groups, and of special interest fully 28% of enrolled members are under the age of 30. A-List members are seeing a wide variety of movies, already having viewed more than 150 different movie titles. Early program analysis indicates incremental movie-going frequency among members after joining the program stating it is significant; AMC noted that 45% of
A-List members themselves now account for more than 4 per cent of AMC's U.S. attendance.
A-List members were not previously signed up to its AMC Stubs loyalty programs. On a separate matter, AMC also announced today that it's previously announced 12-month protection guarantee from the date of a member's enrolment against any increases in A-List monthly pricing has been broadened to further provide consumers with a sustainable value.
At more than 260,000 members enrolling in just seven weeks, the A-List membership sign-up trend continues to well exceed AMC's expectations. At the time of launch in June, AMC said that it is expected to hit 500,000 members one year later, at the end of June of 2019. It would now appear that this enrolment target will be reached much sooner. A-List is also showing broad geographic and demographic appeal. A-List members have utilized the service at each of AMC's 640 locations spread throughout all 44 states in the U.S. in which AMC has its theatres. Membership levels are strong across all ages and ethnicity
The 12-month protection guarantee for members of A-List enrolling anytime in 2018 now includes no changes in the pricing, terms or benefits of the program within a member's initial 12 months after joining the program. From Adam Aron, AMC CEO and President: "We remain immensely satisfied by the initial consumer response to AMC Stubs A-List. With more than 260,000 members enrolled and over 1 million in attendance in just seven weeks, A-List in its early going is already demonstrating that it encourages moviegoers of all ages, locations and backgrounds to come to movie theatres more often, and

they bring family and friends along with them. While one would think that the rate of signups will inevitably have to slow down at some point, enrolments now continue at quite a brisk pace, getting AMC to scale much sooner than we initially anticipated. This is very good for AMC and very good for our movie studio partners as well." Aron added: "We expect that AMC Stubs A-List will be a permanent part of our marketing activity going forward. It should be reassuring to hear that AMC is broadening our full 12-month guarantee for each member from the date of his or her 2018 enrolment against any changes in AMC Stubs A-List program pricing, terms or benefits. Since airline frequent flyer programs were created almost forty years ago, enjoying the fruits of loyalty programs have become a basic fabric in the American way of life, even as these programs have changed and evolved over the decades. We fervently believe that consumers have a basic right to expect to be able to rely on us to honour the commitments that we make, and that they do not have to fear constant program changes that come without warning. As a stable and sizable operator, we have every intention of keeping our promises and offering delightful and stress-free movie-going experience to our much-appreciated AMC Stubs A-List guests."

Cinemagoers Impressed by Christie CP4230 at the 2018 OpenAirport Cinema Summer is traditionally the time for open air cinemas, including the OpenAirport Cinema in Düsseldorf, where visitors experienced an open air cinema with a special touch, as various Hollywood blockbusters were shown on the airport terrace every weekend in July. Christie partner BIG cinema GmbH, which specializes in large cinema event and experiences, was on board as the company responsible for the projection technology and chose the Christie CP4230, a native 4K 3DLP Cinema projector. The cinema at this rather unconventional location developed into an absolute visitor magnet, as evidenced by tickets for ten of the eleven shows selling out very quickly. It's a special atmosphere, with everyone in attendance having a direct view of the planes taking off and landing in the evening sky behind the 12 x 6 metre screen. This was a truly special "air-xperience", and not just for aircraft and airport enthusiasts. In keeping with the airport terminology, the guests were also able to reserve "Premium Economy" seats this year alongside the standard "Economy" and "Business Class" options. This proved very popular among the guests, as André Barczewski, live communication expert from Düsseldorf Airport, explains: "The unique atmosphere on the visitor terrace is a genuine
highlight year after year and for many visitors a reason to keep coming back. In addition to this, introduction of the third seating category, "Premium Economy," certainly proved another highlight this year and was well received by the guests." The airport opened its terrace to visitors for the fifth time in keeping with the maxim of "exclusive air-xperiences". "We are delighted to once again be on board this year as the company responsible for the projection technology," explains Johannes Bernstein, CEO at BIG cinema. "The OpenAirport Cinema offers a very special atmosphere. With the planes taking off and landing in the background, it is easy
to gaze off into the distance. It is therefore all the more important to use the right technology to deliver an absolutely perfect image." "We have been working with Christie projectors for many years and appreciate the absolute reliability and image quality their units offer. We decided to go with the CP4230 due to its high light output. Despite the 38 metre projection distance and the degree of ambient brightness at the airport, the projector produced bright and brilliant images on the screen, which enabled us to offer the guests a unique cinematic experience," explained Bernstein. The team from Düsseldorf Airport was extremely enthusiastic about the events. "Following the major success in 2017, we were able to once again increase the number of guests in what was our fifth hosting of the event. With a total of 5,400 guests, this year's OpenAirport Cinema was the most popular yet. Despite increasing the number of seats to 512, almost all showings were sold out this year. We had great weather throughout and clearly met the guests' taste with the films we selected," added Barczewski, who is confident that "the OpenAirport Cinema will certainly be repeated again next year." "They told us they were changing offices and wanted to have their own private screening room in the new building. They were keenly aware that the space assigned for it was really tricky and they would have to look for another building if we were unable to come up with the viable plan, but happily we found a solution. We selected Christie projection and Vive Audio because they deliver superior quality in the smallest form factors in their class." "DOR Internacional was responsible for the entire Sala Fox project, and that meant everything from initial blueprints, the engineering, the building work, interior design, coordinating the various contractors, right up to the final installation and implementation of all the Christie projection and audio technology," said Dornbierer. "The project
conditions were truly challenging, but that made it all the more interesting. I believe the Sala Fox is one of the best examples of the symbiosis between the special needs of a client and the innovative multi-media solution implemented by a group of professionals, namely DOR Internacional."

The company showcased how solutions like its HDR-ready phosphor laser light source projector, the SRXR815, are empowering exhibitors to deliver state-of-the-art viewing for today, and tomorrow at the event. "Sony has long been re-defining the cinema experience with our range of technologies, services and support that empower customers to enhance the cinema experience, and we're back at CineEurope to show there's more to experience with Sony," explained Oliver Pasch, Sales Director of Sony's theatrical exhibition division. "While the European adoption of laser and availability of 4K content has continued to gain pace, there is a reality that not all lasers are created equally. Our HDR-ready 4K laser Phosphor projectors offer an industry-leading 10,000:1 contrast ratio at all brightness levels, so there is no compromise for enhanced contrast ratio only at lower brightness levels, as well as efficient, lamp-free operation with over 35,000 hours of high-performance use. Offering true 4K images with a generous 15,000 lumen brightness, it's HDR-ready and combines
outstandingly crisp, high-contrast images with the quality, reliability and low-maintenance of laser," Pasch continued. Appetite and momentum behind Sony's laser offering in Europe is continuing as customers reap the benefits of high-quality, lowmaintenance projection. In Germany, Cinecitta' Nürnberg, one of Europe's largest and most technicallyadvanced multiplexes has invested in two SRX-R815DS dual 4K laser projection systems. Cineplex Münster has installed a single SRX-815DS system and meanwhile, CineSpace has also selected Sony's phosphor laser projector for its luxurious Waterfront complex in Bremen, Germany. At CineEurope, Sony demonstrated the spectacular picture quality of its acclaimed HDR-ready SRX-R815P 4K laser projector on the booth and in Room 134 where tradeshow delegates can experience incredible cinematic projection with marketleading contrast. Additionally, EclairColor also had unveiled their HDR color technology on a dual Sony SRX-R515DS system at Cinesa Diagonal Mar cinema, highlighting striking image quality in lifelike and immersive 4K.

At all stages, until successful ingest, the delivery is fully tracked thereby allowing DTDC to provide definitive proof of delivery to their customers. The whole process from booking to confirmed ingest is typically completed within minutes with zero effort required from the exhibitor. owners to enable film playout. With AAM's new solution, KDMs can now be generated and delivered through the cloud directly from distributor booking systems all the way to the cinema trusted device playout equipment with confirmed proof of delivery. All customers of AAM's Screenwriter Theatre Management System (TMS) will be invited to sign up for the service completely free of charge. Since the introduction of digital cinema, KDMs have been necessary to deliver content, but the process for their creation and delivery has been ripe for innovation. A variety of unconsolidated solutions have arisen for the booking, generation and blind delivery of KDMs, often over email and physical media and without any visibility of delivery success. Manually managed theatrical equipment databases have proved very hard to maintain resulting in incorrectly targeted KDMs, high support overhead, security vulnerabilities and cancelled shows or dark screens. The new automated KDM solution offers a quantum leap in responsiveness, accuracy and reliability, and is made possible through a direct integration between DTDC's worldwide booking management systems and AAM's groundbreaking Thunderstorm cloud platform, supported by AAM's class leading Screenwriter TMS. A secure communications channel between each TMS and AAM's Thunderstorm cloud allows for real-time update of DTDC's Global Trusted Device List (TDL), the industry's most comprehensive up-todate database on the actual equipment installed at each cinema. This ensures that KDMs delivered through Thunderstorm to cinemas are always correctly targeted. Once at site, Screenwriter takes over to deliver directly to the target equipment.
Eclair Masters its First Chinese Film in EclairColor Eclair is pleased to announce the mastering of its first Chinese film DCP in EclairColor for the feature film Dying to Survive, directed by Wen Muye, a comedy-drama that may become this year's top-grossing film in China. GrĂŠgoire Lesturgie, Colorist at Eclair, explains: "Working on color-grading for Dying to Survive, I got the chance to unleash EclairColor to its full potential: more details in the lightest and darkest points, more brightness, more luminosity and vibrant colors, especially in very contrasted shots such as landscape scenes or nightclub shots. The film mainly takes place in China, with a few scenes in India. It was fundamental to highlight the difference between the two, as the scenes in India have much warmer colors. The EclairColor technology allowed us to sublime the production's artistic choices with greater contrast. The result is nothing short of impressive!"
The film was screened at the opening of the first EclairColor HDR auditorium in China as part of a new multiplex in the city of Rui'An, with cinema exhibitor Bestar Cinemas. The auditorium was equipped by Great Ocean, an EclairColorcertified Chinese cinema systems integrator. "We're very excited to bring this innovative HDR technology to our new multiplex at the Wuyue shopping mall, marking a first in China," declares Jiang Yuanxin, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Bestar Cinemas Management Co., Ltd. "EclairColor powered by Sony Digital Cinema delivers superior image quality to our audiences and brings more emotion to the giant screen while improving satisfaction ratings. As part of our master development strategy, we aim to open 50 STARX PLF auditoriums with EclairColor technology by 2021 as part of both our existing and new cinema complexes located across China."

For each estimate requested, dealers will receive an automated email and PDF file detailing the screen price and packaging estimate. Prices are only estimates and do not include shipping charges or any other potential international fees. Shipping costs associated with such large packages as these were outof-reach for so many customers up until recently. Now, Severtson
Screens' SeVision 3D GX screens can be folded and packed into a much smaller crate without any loss in structural integrity or performance abilities. "Severtson's new folded screen process not only reduces international shipping fees, the smaller packaging simplifies delivery to theatres and is more convenient for installers as folded screens are much easier to get into buildings and uncrate than standard long-tube roll packaging…especially when a theatre is in a unique structure, such as a high-rise or multi-story theatre complex," added Maxwell. The new folded line of SeVision 3D GX and Ultra Wide cinema screens are now available for delivery to international destinations, having numerous advantages, including: •
Available in standard or micro perforation (white and silver)
•
Coated surface that is harder to bruise and scuff
•
Small micron flake coating produces a sharper image, eliminating graininess in bright scenes
•
Viewing angles range from 30 to 40 degree half-gain depending on the specific screen gain requested
•
Water-based coating promotes longevity by maintaining optical properties over time, eliminating flaking and cracking of the screen surface
•
Perfect for large cinema applications (movie houses, museums, universities, etc.)

From Hollywood blockbusters to inspiring independent films, patrons of this new six-theatre multiplex can look forward to razor-sharp laser projection combined with pristine sound, from the unparalleled comfort of GV Bedok's leatherette seats - all within the immediate vicinity of their homes, as the company continues its steadfast commitment to delivering the finest cinematic experience in Singapore. GV Bedok will henceforth cater to the demand among residents for a cineplex in their neighbourhood that was once home to a cluster of four cinemas in the 1990s. Since the closing of the Princess Theatre 10 years ago, Bedok has eagerly awaited the return of a movie theatre to Singapore's most densely populated neighbourhood, home to approximately 300,000 residents. Speaking about the company's entry
into the Bedok heartlands, Clara Cheo, Chief Executive Officer of Golden Village Multiplex said, "We are constantly striving to create the very best cinematic experiences to our customers throughout Singapore and we know that convenience is a very important factor when looking for entertainment options. We've long heard the call from the residents of Bedok to bring a cinema back to this vibrant neighbourhood, but finding the right location in the heart of the neighbourhood was always the key. "With DjitSun Mall Bedok, we've found just that; and with this opening, we're finally able to heed that call. We're delighted to be Singapore's only cinema operator serving the residents of Bedok," added Cheo. In a homage to this renowned food haven in the Eastern part of Singapore, which is famed for its traditional hawker dishes, Golden Village is launching a new localised curry-flavoured gourmet popcorn in tandem with the opening of its new cinema. The flavour will be exclusively available at GV Bedok for three months from GV Bedok's opening.
In addition, GV will introduce three other gourmet popcorn flavours Seaweed Wasabi, Caramel, and Cheese - across its cinemas island-wide. Continuing its enthusiasm for culinary delights and support of local brands, GV is also working with homegrown F&B chain Saybons to offer cinemagoers a wholesome spread of hot soups, pasta and light bites at GV Bedok. Lim Fang Hua, (BBM), Managing Director of Overseas Movie Pte. Galalite LENSRAY:
Brings Future to the Present Galalite, world leader in cinema screen technology is proud to have announced that all its screens to be equipped with LENSRAY henceforth as a part of Galalite's continuous endeavour to provide cinemagoers with the perfect viewing experience every single time. Now, viewers can expect exceptional images wherever Galalite Screens are in use! LENSRAY technology reduces Visual Noise, which is an important parameter in the image quality evaluation today. Noise in this case is not something that is heard, but rather seen, characterized by random variation of brightness or color information in images, and usually an aspect of electronic noise. Visual noise can be produced by the sensor and circuitry of a scanner or digital camera. It can also originate in film grain and in the unavoidable shot noise of an ideal photon detector. Image noise is an undesirable byproduct of image capture that obscures the desired information. Thus, higher the value of Visual Noise, more distorted or grainy the image appears. This phenomenon not only presents the viewer with a less than optimum viewing experience, but also prevents the director's vision from being brought to life. Visual Noise reduction becomes a major concern as the advent of newer technologies demand more from the screens to make the images as close to life as possible. After all, it is hard to enjoy a movie where the images appear grainy instead of an immersive experience that makes one live the movie. Galalite's revolutionary LENSRAY technology uses a concept similar to MicroLens Array to reduce the noise and give viewers a visual treat. When the coherence area on the microlens-array surface is smaller than the microlens footprint, there is no interference between the fields
emitted by the different microlens so lesser visual noise is visible, this results in sharper and brighter images that makes the movie viewing experience an even more enjoyable one. While noise cannot be eliminated, LENSRAY technology will however, reduce it to a considerable level. All Galalite screens will be equipped with LENSRAY technology going forward, as a part of Galalite's continuous endeavour to provide cinemagoers the perfect viewing experience every single time. So now, viewers can expect exceptional images wherever Galalite Screens are in use. Speaking on the occasion, Yusuf Galabhaiwala, Director of
Operations at Galalite Projection Screens said, "With films becoming more realistic and intricate, providing visuals that are as close to the director's vision as possible becomes increasingly critical. Screen technology needs to keep up with the technology of the day and our LENSRAY technology does just that. After introducing Nano coating technology back in 2014, this is the next step for setting the benchmark yet again. With this new researched technology, the possibilities are endless for us. We will very soon have some more exciting new products coming up".
Microlens ARRAY Features Galalite’s LENSRAY Technology reduce visual noise and improve viewing angles, but it also scatters light upto 20% more, hence reducing the hot spotting. This technology enhances the overall movie-viewing experience of cinemagoers.

11-14 June 2018 Barcelona, Spain
CineEurope, this year proudly delivered over 15 hours of exclusive studio content to their delegates. With over a 100 hundred of the industry's top equipment manufacturers, concessionaires, architects, etc., it was a sure thing to find everything one would need to make your cinema a must attend destination! Theatre owners and operators, and those allied to the industry came together to seek knowledge on the latest trends and issues; learn about new marketing ideas; network with industry peers; see Hollywood, international, and independent films and product presentations to make informed booking decisions; and to find the latest and best technologies, entertainment, services and comforts. The week got off to a flying start with two executive roundtables welcoming high-level panelists from across the industry. This was then followed by a second session focused on current global cinema trends and the consequent challenges and opportunities they present. They also delved into recent developments in event cinema and screen advertising, as well as cutting-edge technological

innovation as a part of the focus sessions taking place on the trade show floor - which was a true conventional highlight. It goes without saying that the value of the people working in this highly eye-catching industry cannot be understated. Therefore, in order to recognize their contributions, whilst perhaps not being in a role which would usually command the spotlight and yet have made outstanding contributions to their company or organization and the wider European cinema industry, the CineEurope Gold Awards was also introduced this year. Furthermore, the Coca-Cola had been a never-to-miss seminar for the crowd that highlighted ways to find out exactly how potential can be harnessed in the industry and the possibilities it could provide for success. Overall, this year's edition turned out to have been four full days of entertainment, insights and complete networking as promised!

Big Cine Expo 2018 at Sahara Star, Mumbai had been oneof-its-kind event to successfully present an International Trade Show & Convention for Multiplexes, Single-Screens and Malls in India. Christie a global visual, audio and collaboration solutions company offering diverse solutions for business, entertainment and industry is the Official Technology partner. The biggest names in cinema business including PVR, INOX, Mukta A2, Miraj and Cinepolis are the multiplex partners of the event. An event of this kind has the potential to bridge the knowledge gap and is the need of the hour to boost the industry. "Despite being the second largest producer of films in the word and considering the huge number of movies made, India lacks the presence of a significant expo in the cinema eco-system. In the last few years, as many as 2000 screens were closed down due to dwindling business and low footfalls. This mainly owed to the lack of business, technology, marketing and operational know-how among the exhibitors" says Raghav, Director of Big Cine Expo. "It was home videos long ago and now it is the online streaming which is a major matter of concern for the cinema exhibition industry. The cinema exhibitors should stay in tune with the latest changes and technoaffairs in the world and keep upgrading themselves to take cinema viewing to the next level. Today we operate over 470 operational screens in 115 cities of India and have significant presence in Singapore (8 screens), UAE and Bahrain (Novo Cinemas - 104 screens at 10 locations) and we are growing exponentially through organic route and through acquisition globally.
