Dear Barstow Community,
Amanda Morgan ’94
In a word — fantastic!

That describes the 2011–2012 school year at Barstow. It was ten months of jam-packed accomplishments and fun in academics, athletics and the arts— none of which would have been possible without your amazing support.

You, Barstow friends, have donated time, energy and money to the greatest institution in Kansas City. The Barstow School is the oldest independent day school west of the Mississippi. We don’t take that responsibility lightly, and after 128 years, we are still graduating the finest students in the metropolitan area. Again, thanks to you, this is a reality… every day. Please join me in celebrating our successes as well as looking forward to another stellar chapter in Barstow’s exciting story.

Key to Symbols Welcome to the 2011–2012 Donor Report! Thank you, each and every one of you, who have responded to the call of making a charitable contribution to Barstow. Your participation in our fundraising efforts is crucial to our pursuit of excellence in education. As is stated in our mission, we strive to “…provide symmetrical development to mind, body and character” for every Barstow student. We could not have accomplished so much this year without your
Cinco de Five-o Auction
Specific and Capital Gifts
Our annual auction and celebration took the form of a festive, fun evening on the Barstow campus with a fiesta theme. In this document, donors who contributed to the “Fund Our Mission” project of the Brookfield Gym renovation are also included in the Cinco de Five-o icon listing. The auction benefits the Annual Fund.
It is with gratitude that we acknowledge donors who have seen a specific need in the school and made a donation to support that need. We are also thankful for our donors who respond to requests for Capital improvements to our school. Donors for the year 2011–2012 are mentioned here. A full list of Standards High Campaign donors who made gifts is available online.

Armillary Society
Annual Fund
Armillary Society donors have given to The Barstow School in each of the last five years or longer. The Armillary Society exemplifies the culture of philanthropy at Barstow, and we thank you!
Barstow is grateful for all gifts made between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 directed to the Annual Fund. Donations to the Annual Fund support operations of the school and ensure our continued excellence in education.
The Barstow School is fortunate to have volunteers who are willing to support multiple fundraising and “friendraising” events each year. During the 2011–2012 school year we also hosted the Barstow Knights Golf Classic; the comedy troupe The Second City on their Laugh Out Loud Tour; and Style Knight Out II shopping event. Donors to these events, which are included under this icon, supported the Annual Fund. 201 1 –2012 don or report

Honor Memorial The school is grateful for donations made in honor of a loved one—or in memory of a loved one—who has been a part of our community. (These gifts are listed separately than those for Tree Day.)
to make all of our Donor Report information available on our website, the following lists appear in their entirety on the Barstow School website. Please visit www.barstowschool.org/donorreport to see all of our donor information.
Heritage Society The Heritage Society was developed to honor donors who have left a legacy for The Barstow School through a bequest in a will, trust or other deferred gift. Heritage Society members, through these gifts, provide for the future of our school.
Standards High Capital Giving Donors to the Standards High Campaign responded to a request to improve our school facilities in the following ways: Renovate existing tennis courts—including solving drainage issues and resurfacing; improve the auditorium—including seats, lighting, sound, and paint; and make classroom improvements in the Upper and Middle Schools—including lighting, floors, cabinets and windows.
Tree Day One of Barstow’s most treasured traditions is Tree Day. Generous gifts to Tree Day keep our campus beautiful and sustainable. In place for decades, this tradition provides a special way to honor or remember someone.

The Brookfield Gym “Fund Our Mission” Project The school is incredibly grateful to the donors who supported our project of improving the Brookfield Gym. Gifts to this effort provided for brand new Sport Court flooring, brighter paint, new lighting and the installation of a climbing wall for use in gym classes. The facility is now ready for classes and practices for Kindergarten through 12th grade students.
