HAMLIN FOUNTAIN & GIFTS

WHERE HERITAGE & CORPUS CHRISTI CULTURE COLLIDE

5 6 Years Strong Family-owned and -operated in Corpus Christi, Texas since 1960, Hamlin Pharmacy is entering its sixth decade of service, and not much has changed. They are one of the original Soda Fountains in Corpus Christi, and the last standing. They’ve had the same Chef, Jesse Lerma, working the grill after all these years. They opened at a time that most pharmacies had soda fountains and pharmacists were called “druggists,” mixing remedies for patients who feel more like families than customers. They’ve seen lots of first dates, first children, served four generations of families, and boast regular customers – all dining on the original booths and stools. Hamlin Pharmacy prides itself in old fashioned values, personalized and friendly service.

Originality Tastes Best Casual, everyday style food made from fresh ingredients makes the menu reminiscent of mom’s home cooking. The menu is mostly original where only a few things have changed over the past 56 years. Chef Jesse is known for making some of the best burgers and chili in town. In 2007, they expanded the shop and opened the bakery, and they are still going strong making delicious confections like French macarons. Recently, they’ve started weekly specials and are adding healthier options to the menu. Over the many years, they’ve been open and rapidly growing, their outlook has not changed. Customers are family and there is great pride in the meals and goodies that are prepared for them.

CORPUS CHRISTI

THE POST AT LAMAR PARK

MODERN AMERICAN FUSION IN THE HEART OF CORPUS CHRISTI

The Perfect Combination Located right off of scenic Ocean Drive in the Lamar Park Shopping Center, The Post at Lamar Park is not a bar or a restaurant – it’s a unique and refreshing combination of the two. The Post was established in November 2015 by Corpus Christi native James Gonzales and his wife, Susan Gonzales. Inspiration for The Post came from their travels across the United States. They noticed a rising trend around the “gastropub” concept, where an eatery wasn’t solely focused on one style of cuisine, but a variety of dishes that paired nicely with a hand-crafted cocktail. The idea was simple: bring something new to Corpus Christi, and do it well. While the craft cocktail is the staple of The Post at Lamar Park, careful attention is given to a generous and unique wine list, including whites, reds, bubbles, and even rosés. When dining at The Post, one will find a carefully edited selection of seasonal dishes that can stand on their own. The goal is to encourage guests to sample their way through the menu and enjoy an array of new ingredients, flavors, and textures.

Sample Menu MISO GINGER GLAZED SALMON

THE NOTORIOUS P-I-G

Gilled 6oz Salmon filet, served with wild rice pilaf and garnished with their famous Brussels sprouts.

Grilled pork loin, cilantro lime coleslaw, Yellowbird cream sauce, served on a poppy seed kaiser roll, with house-made pork skins.

SOUTHWEST CHICKEN EMPANADAS Three empanadas, stuffed with chicken, roasted corn, black beans, and cheddar cheese, topped with bell pepper confetti and Zinji sauce.

DUCK WINGS Five crispy duck wings with a sweet and spicy apricot glaze, drizzled with a Yellowbird cream sauce.

CLOSED ON SUNDAYS Southern fried chicken, cheddar cheese, and bacon - served on house-made cheddar scallion biscuit, brushed with house-made smoked honey butter. (brunch menu only)

THE FENCE HOPPER Vodka, freshly squeezed lemon juice, wild flower honey, and muddled blackberries. (drink menu)

OLD FASHIONED Muddled sugar with bitters, whiskey, and a twist of citrus. (drink menu)

Good Food with a Good Vibe The Post skimps on nothing; all juices and syrups are handmade, inhouse. The look and the feel of The Post at Lamar Park was crafted to reflect and pay homage to the space’s origin, a U.S. Post Office. The exposed rafters, concrete flooring, reclaimed barn wood, and Thomas Edison bulb fixtures take you to a place of tangible curiosity. An outdoor patio was expanded from the post office’s original loading dock to provide an airy experience for guests. Recently added, the patio also includes an outdoor bar made from a refurbished cargo container - truly distinct and versatile. The Post is a hip place with a fresh ambience and dog-friendly patio. The simple, yet thorough menu offers unique tastes of American fusion cuisine. Each dish, while smaller in size, yet still very generous, is best shared with family or friends, and paired with a craft cocktail, wine, or craft beer. PRICE RANGE: $$ SERVING: LUNCH, DINNER & SUNDAY BRUNCH SPECIALS: 7 ‘TIL 7 MENU - 7 ITEMS ARE DISCOUNTED AT A HAPPY-HOUR RATE. FEATURED DRINK CHANGES WEEKLY

HESTER’S CAFE & BAKERY CAFÉ. BAKERY. COFFEE.

Loving What You Do Jason and Hester Rodriguez, high school sweethearts, share a love for family, service and cooking. He’s a chef and she’s a baker, and they followed their dream and opened Hester’s Café at Six Points in September of 2006. Five years later, in September 2011, they opened their second location inside the Art Museum of South Texas. At Hester’s Café, the business model follows the basic principles of the family unit – service in the community, food for nourishment, and time for fellowship. They value everyone who walks through their doors, patron and employees alike. Fostering a Christian environment, Jason and Hester close shop on Sundays to allow employees time for rest, family and fellowship. But come Monday, the doors are wide open to welcome the community in for a home cooked meal. They love what they do and hope you will too.

Locals Know Best In the 2016 Local’s List readers choice poll, Hester’s Café was chosen by locals as the best brunch spot in the Coastal Bend. Brunch is served at the Art Museum location on Saturday’s starting at 11am, and available every morning at both other locations. (Six Points and Lamar Park). PORT ARANSAS

Thank You For Smoking, Meat What’s more Texan than beer and BBQ? Traditionally, South Texas style is distinguished by it’s thick sauces that ensure the juiciest meat possible. Thanks to the European meat-smoking traditions brought to Central Texas by German and Czech settlers in the 1800s, butchers would smoke leftover meat to keep it from spoiling. We sure are thankful! Mac daddy's A FAMILY KITCHEN FOR THE MASSES

Groups of Any Size If you have ever traveled in large groups you know how hard it can be to find a restaurant that not only will serve you, but can also do so quickly while satisfying the wants of everyone in the group. These are the things that inspired the crew at MacDaddy’s Family Kitchen. Port Aransas lacked a place where people can grab a quick meal no matter how large the group was while also serving quality meals. Using the freshest of ingredients, the crew at MacDaddy’s takes pride in the food they serve. From fresh Gulf seafood to the best BBQ, you’re sure to find something you’ll love. As the only BBQ restaurant on the island, MacDaddy’s Family Kitchen features large, open tables and convenient location close to the beach. The environment is perfect to serve parties of two to 100.
