TRAINER’S CORNER
SCOUT METHOD: 7. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Scout Movement is aimed at training the youth to develop their potentials, as stated in the purpose, to become better and active responsible citizens of the country. When we speak of youth, they are part of the community. They join our movement with the motivation and co-operation of the individuals of the community. Community`s involvement is primarily needed for the growth in the membership of our movement. Youth in our movement are obligated to develop the community of which they are a part. In the light of this, our activities are well designed to render service to the community in its development through involvement of the members of the community. Scout/Guide Promise reflects our commitment to `help others` which is macroscopic as `Service`. Inculcation of habits of good turn to the best of his/her ability in cub/bulbul age makes them prepared to do community service when they attain the age of scouts and guides which expands in its scope to the idea of Service in the form of Community Development by involving the community. So, `Community involvement` is part of the activities of Scouting and which forms one of the eight interdependent elements of Scout Method. The Bharat Scouts and Guides has designed a number of Community-oriented activities and events. Swatch Bharat, Awareness campaigns for Covid 19, Tree plantation programmes, Messengers of Peace and such other activities are only a few examples. As per the rules of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, a District Community Development Committee is formed in each district to plan and implement C.D. Projects, to ensure and provide the resources required for the C.D. projects besides ensuring participation of the District in PMSC and Upa- Rashtrapathi Award competition or any other C. D. Projects. We have been involving parents in many of our programmes. Provision is made in the rules to invite the parents of scouts and guides and other well- wishers in the Group Committee. Parents and friends of the Cubs/Bulbuls, Scouts and Guides or Rovers and Rangers and their family members are invited for investiture ceremony, Campfire, Red flower or for the exhibition of Handicrafts made by the Scouts and Guides, Community fares, festivals or Parents` night. Events in the form of long-term competitions were introduced by The Bharat Scouts and Guides long ago to promote activities involving communities. Prime Minister`s Shield Competition was introduced in 1976 with

KEY TO HAPPINESS
Scouting is a fantastic educational game full of fun and skill development activities intended to transform young boys & girls into good and successful citizens. The essence of a successful life is measured by the happiness the person achieves and spreads. The real happiness is not an easy to get and momentary thing, but it is a state of mind. It is important to understand that happiness soars multi folds if it is passed on. So, let your happiness be very infectious. The real happiness can be achieved by imbibing some key qualities and making some positive changes in our lives. Positivity:The most important thing in achieving positive outlook is to shed off past negativity. One should always look out for the brighter side of every issue/ problem and resolve it. Your positivity may give lots of motivation to others and spreads happiness even in toughest times. Be mindful, keep smiling and beam out the positivity. One habit to develop is to always think positively before you say something. Calmness: A calm and composed mind always provides better and swift solutions to any problem. Keeping calm, you will be able to think more clearly without tangling into unnecessary mess. Never decide in hurry, give yourself some time to consider all pros and cons. If you keep calm while addressing the problems, you will never regret in future and will be a happier person. Try the Scout way- Whistle or Sing a song in hard times. Uniqueness: You are the one of your kind and your duty is to be the best version of yourself. There is no one like you so you are capable of turning the things your way. No one can be like you so don’t compare yourself with others. The feeling of being unique gives lots of confidence and happiness.
