The 45th Sands-Regency USPPA event, Gene Stary’s dream, attracted 165 players and was once again in the capable hands of Tony Annigoni and Scott Smith. Host hotel since its inception, the Sands Regency added $12,000 prize money, creating a payout to 39% of the participants. Action began with the Early bird on Thursday evening followed by the main event, Friday thru Sunday. Could you use a free pickup? BIG news. Next December they’re giving away a brand new truck! amusing occasions during the tournament, its absence created bonafide comic relief. The Forrest Roberts - Steve Berger match went into a hilarious fouling contest until one of them got creative. It reminded me of tavern tournaments I used to play in the 70’s when we had no rules at all. You could sneak around nudging balls and fouling forever. The players enjoyed the spanking new Diamond tables, and it was generally a very friendly gathering with consistently good sportsmanship throughout the five days of competition that began with Thursday’s race-to-five warmup. All matches in the main event were best eight of fifteen games with a maximum spot of five games. Thanks to the sponsors - Jacoby, Tonkin, Simonis: Two beautiful and unique $1,000 Tonkin cue sticks were donated just for this event, awarded to the best finish among two lower-average classifications. Robert Garcia and Frank Giordano went the furthest in their groups, and they each have a very nice new cue. A drawing for a $3,000 Jacoby cue was also held but I didn’t catch the winner’s name. Free room: Anybody finishing in the final eight of the handicap event got a free room at the Sands if they stayed for the open tournament. Hard to pass up that deal, considering eighth place was $750. We have a winner: As to the competition, nobody among this region’s players would be surprised to learn that Carl Wilson Jr. took home the $3,000 first prize. He stayed in high gear for every match and was seldom behind. In the finals, both he and Jeff Heath had 96 averages, and Carl breezed to the finish line over Jeff Heath, 8-5, 8-2. Carl (USPPA avg, 96) began with wins over Don Parker (51), Jesus Fernandez (48), Ken Young (28) and Scott Ota (61) before taking a loss from Mike Morang (43). On the left side of the board he defeated Bobby Herr (83), Phillips Yee (64), Marshall Anonby (79), Jamie Bruce (83) and Frank Giordano (57) taking him to the championship with Heath. It reinforces my belief that the three-foul rule was originated by a confirmed safety player who dreamed of torturing small, defenseless house pets. On a couple of

Letter to the Editor:

I’d like to respond to the question in your editorial from October. (Yes, 2007, I’m not that far behind) As a tournament director who likes to think about situations like this one where a player at a practice table claims a guy comes up and asks him if he wants to play some and then claims it was a match, I’d like to give my opinion. First of all, I say the correct action is easy and obvious in this case. But before I give it I’ve got to say the director doesn’t know who is lying, but one of them is. Barring any information at all he must let the result stand and warn both of them he will remember this. If he ever hears of or witnesses a similar event from either of the players he immediately tells that director or, if it happens again in one of his tourneys, rules against the repeat offender and warns about disqualification. It’s possible a player might break the ice with a comment like, “Want to play some pool?”, so that isn’t meaningful. However, in this case the facts that the two agree on make it an easy decision. They didn’t lag or flip for the break. It was on a practice table. One of them is lying. You, as director, must rule that the match did not take place. They play it on an assigned table. No tournament calls a match or schedules a match by having the players go find an empty table. There is always an assignment. Only if both agreed it was a legitimate result would you allow that result to stand. Any disagreement means no match. That simple. Now I hasten to point out this doesn’t prove who lied; the one claiming no match may have seen the possibilities when his opponent came to the practice table wanting to just play the match there. The point is, you, as director, aren’t supposed to play God (or St. Peter). You just make the correct decision and then remember the situation in case it ever crops up again. This is common in sporting events. You can’t peer into their hearts; you can only call what is correct, which in this case is that they disagree about the match but agree that one of them is lying. Therefore, the one fact neither can argue with is that the match wasn’t played where it was supposed to be played. No excuse. No match. Thanks, Curt Watts

Longview, WA - Al Perez pulls off win at Cadillac Island Casino 9-Ball Handicap. Al finished a strong 3rd place at the previous 9-ball tournament in November and came to the December tournament determined to do even better. The players in Longview are no strangers to Al Perez. He lived in Longview for quite a while and honed his game by playing a lot of locals for years. He played in the daily afternoon games at Grumpy’s Tavern for a while. I remember my brother-in-law, Tommy Rice asking me if I liked his new pants one day. I said yes, there okay and he said they are compliments of Al from the afternoon games at Grumpy’s! This went on for some time and so did the stories of Al playing other local players, like George Moore for months on end. Time went on and Al moved to the Portland area where he became a respected money player in that area and through out the Northwest. He is always a pleasure to have at our tournaments. Congratulations to Al Perez, Jeff Baker Al for a great tournament. Al played Jeff Baker, a regular at our tournaments for the point. Al came out on top and sent Jeff to play Glenn Atwell, to see who would get a second chance at Al. Jeff rated at seven games was the winner over Glenn who was rated at eleven games and then went on to play Al. Al was rated at nine games and Jeff at seven. They went hill hill the first set and Al pulled off the win. A big congratulation to Jeff Baker for his second place finish. handicap tournament in November. Pete Gates from Bend, Oregon was the winner. Pete has played in several Cadillac tournaments and this time clawed his way to the top. The last four players on the winners side were Todd Gooch, rated a nine vs. Pete Gates rated a seven, with Pete the victor, and Al Perez rated a nine vs. Steve Tune rated a nine, with Al coming out on top. The battle for the point would be Al Perez going to nine games and Pete Gates going to seven games. Pete Gates won the point match and sat back to wait for the B side winner to advance. The player battling his way through the B side was none other than Glenn Atwell one of the Northwest’s toughest competitors. Glenn beat Steve Tune, Todd Gooch, and Al Perez to have another shot at Pete. It only took one set to prove the four game spot was too much for Glenn. where the ball should go and then putting it there. Pick a precise spot on the table. With a ball already out there, pick a certain distance past that ball. For the first balls, I try to put the next ball exactly one ball beyond the previous. For the balls farther out, that’s too much precision for me, so I try for a half-diamond past the previous ball. You will probably need to shorten your bridge. There are lots of reasons to use a shorter bridge on this kind of shot. A 4-inch bridge is not to short for the first shots. Really. Try it. As you get better at controlling your soft speed, add more balls to the line with the ultimate goal of shooting all 16 balls. I’ve done all 16 once, and the key was leaving the first 10 balls between the line and the side pockets. That left more room and chance for error on the last 6. When you have made good progress on this drill, and I think you will see progress within 10 minutes of practice, try the drill in the other direction: Shoot the first ball as far down the table as you can without hitting the far cushion, then shoot the next one so it doesn’t quite reach the first, and so on. A large part of learning how to play well involves pushing back your frontiers. You are comfortable in parts of your game but there are parts that might terrify you, such as drawing the cue ball more than three feet or 80-degree cuts on the game ball. Practice Bob Jewett should help to take the terror out of those “terra incognito” regions. Power shots are one area to work on, but this month let’s try the other side — soft shots with precise control of speed. These are most useful when playing safeties and just rolling a ball into a pocket. I got this drill from Tom Riccobene of New Mexico, who has just completed his training as an Advanced Instructor in the BCA’s Instructor Training Program. I didn’t do very well at first, but it’s fun and attention grabbing. The idea is to shoot a series of balls from the head string and make each one travel a little farther than the one before. The cue ball is not involved — just hit each object ball with your cue stick. In the diagram are the beginning and ending positions for a typical attempt with 8 balls. Things went OK until ball 7 which didn’t get past the six. The first technique to work on is visualizing

The recent passing of ‘Chicago Bugs’ Rucker is a sad reminder of just how important the One Pocket Hall of Fame is to these great players, many of whom have been overlooked by the pool and billiard establishment for years. If you have never been to one of our annual Hall of Fame dinners at the Derby City Classic, it is hard to explain the special quality of the experience. Let me just say that our banquet is an unusual mix of strong emotional sentiments, and rousing entertainment. The emotional part might surprise you, because frankly, these are some of the toughest hombres in pool! Of course the storytelling is to be expected, because these are the great characters & storytellers in pool. Put these two components together in the company of about 135 players and peers, and you can see why many people describe our dinner as the highlight of their week at Derby City and that is saying something! So I hope you can come. Dress is casual, and the banquet room is conveniently located right in one of the main Derby City Classic host hotels. The Executive Inn is directly across the street from the Executive West, with free shuttle service back and forth; we try to make it as easy as possible. The dinner takes place Tuesday night, January 8th. Rakin and Ko are the New Champions of the World!

Mary Rakin of the United States and Pin Yi Ko of Taipei are the new Junior Champions of the World. They took their titles today in Willingen, Germany at the conclusion of the WPA World Junior Championships for 2007. This is nothing new for Mary Rakin. She won this same event last year, but took the longest road possible to repeat the feat. Coming into the event as the number one seed she dropped her very first match (7-4) to Denise Wilkinson of New Zealand. From there she went on an undefeated romp through the rest of the field. Her second match was nearly the end of her road, but she got by Anja Wagner of Germany (7-6) and then easily took down both Hui Ching Yap of Singapore (7-2) and fellow American Briana Miller (7-2), the 12-year-old wonder with a very big future. This put her into the redraw that signals the start of singleelimination play and her first match there was another close one as she escaped Kristina Schagan of Germany by a single game (9-8). When she then stepped on Kim Witzel of Germany (9-4) it meant she had once again made the finals of the Worlds. Her opponent in the final attempt was Tina Buhnen. Strangely, Buhnen had also lost her first match of the week, and to the same Denise Wilkinson that had sent Rakin left as well! (Wilkinson wound up in fifth place.) Buhnen had easily taken down Sabrina Naverschnig of Austria (9-4) in the SemiFinals prior to finding herself across the felt from Rakin. This would not prove a comfortable spot to be as Rakin found her best game of the week and simply tortured Buhnen to win going away at 9-2 to take her second consecutive World Title. Asked if pool would be in her future she replied: “Yes, but not until after I finish school. School first, then pool.” Pressed as to whether she would be knocking on the door of the WPBA after college she grinned: “Yeah, I think so!” The young men had watched for the last three years as Yu Lun Wu of Hours: 11:30AM-2AM

Taipei had owned the field and won three World Championships on the trot. When he defeated Yusuke Shibata of Japan 11-7 in the Semi-Finals it seemed a near certainty that history was about to repeat itself. But coming through the field undefeated (as had Wu) was last year’s runner-up, Pin Yi Ko, also of C h i n e s e Taipei. Ko had to defeat a n o t h e r Ta i w a n e s e player, Kui Ming Lin (three of our four semi-finalists w e r e Taiwanese) in order to get to the final stage again but after he managed that (11-8) he walked out into the main arena with an air of confidence that was palatable. Ko took an early lead and never looked back. He won the first three racks, dropped one, and then won three more to lead 6-1 in the race to eleven. After eleven racks he led the race 8-3 in a shining match that had displayed eight break and runs to that point. Wu made a strong charge from there and brought the match close at 8-7. But then Ko took control again and won the next three racks to take the crown 11-7. How well did they play? According to Stan Shuffett, who was tracking every shot, Ko shot an AccuStat score of .962 (1.000 is perfect and nearly unheard of) while Wu fired an .858 in his failed bid. Ring Game At Alexanders Chuck “The Mailman” Evans Wins The Freezer Wins

The “Ring Game” scheduled for Friday December 7th, 2007, at Alexander’s in Phoenix, between Scott Frost, Mitch Ellerman, Dennis Orender, Mike Pankoff, and Rodney Morris took place even though Mr. Morris was delayed in travel and was unable to attend. The four Phoenix players, Scott, Mitch, Dennis, and Mike each put up $250.00 in this winner take all event. Dennis, who seemed to be the one that just never got the shots needed to get started, was the first player eliminated. Mike or Mitch traded places early as the money leader as Scott struggled but was able to hang in. At one point Mitch was shooting the money ball which would have also eliminated Scott. Mitch rattled the ball which in turn gave Scott new life. As is his usual pattern, Scott took advantage of that miss and stormed back to eliminate Mike. Scott and Mitch then battled it out for the next hour before Scott was able to eliminate Mitch and win the $1000.00

On December 15th, 2007, Alexander’s, in Phoenix, held the First Annual Arizona Seniors State Bar Box 9-Ball Championships. This tournament was for all players age 55 or older. Alexander’s added $300.00. This was a non-handicap event with all players racing to eight games on both sides of the bracket. The format was double elimination with a one race final to eleven games. The field for this event drew seventeen players including Chuck Evans Alexander’s own Ron Merseal who went undefeated to the hot seat. Chuck Evans, who eventually won the tournament, lost early to Steve Henderson and had to fight his way through the one-loss bracket to get into the finals against Ron. Ron had won the hot seat by defeating Frank Wellman. Chuck, nearing the end of the one-loss bracket, won a rematch with Steve Henderson leaving Steve in 4th place. Chuck then defeated Frank Wellman in the oneloss side final leaving Frank with a very respectable 3rd place finish. In the one race to (11) final, Chuck kept Ron in his seat and ran away with the finals (11) games to (5). Chuck played almost perfect in the finals missing only two shots and running rack after rack courtesy of “sticking the cue ball” in the center of the table on almost every one of his breaks. Monday, 17 December 2007 Following the banquet and awards party every season we throw a blind draw scotch doubles 8-ball tournament. This remains one of our most popular events each season. On this night we had 48 league players sign up. Thanks to Al Ruiz, owner of Metro Sportz, for taking the time to greet everybody coming in for the banquet and signing them up for the scotch event early. With Al’s help we were able to get the tournament started off quickly and what an event it was. With 48 players signed up to play the total tournament prize fund would be $480.00. This included $240 in players entry money and $240added by Metro Sportz Bar. Thanks to Metro Sportz and Al Ruiz for their generosity in supporting the Arizona Hot Shots and their players this holiday season. It’s that time of year again: the time for making a bunch of New Year’s resolutions that may be formulated with the best of intentions, but without any idea of how we might keep them. Why do we do this to ourselves every year? What good are resolutions, anyway, if we’re not going to be ‘resolved’ to carry them out? Why are we so bad about affirming our resolutions? Last year, I made only one resolution: I resolved to lose 30 pounds. Now that’s the same resolution I’ve made for the past ten Roger Long years, but without ever coming close to achieving my goal. However, this last time around, there was something different involved - I was motivated. You see, I had long been of the opinion that aging and poor conditioning can have ill effects on a pool player’s game. Maybe you have also been of the same opinion? For evidence supporting this opinion, just look at how our eldest and most experienced players - the ones we would tend to believe would have “the nuts” in such a physically soft game as pool - are never the ones at the top of the rankings. As further evidence, let me tell you about a very close friend of mine who is a world-class player; a real champion. Well, he used to be, anyway. Nowadays, he usually finishes in the money in the really big tournaments, but he doesn’t stand much chance of winning them, anymore. He can only win the smaller ones. Oh, his game is still much better than 99.9% of all players out there, but it’s the players at the very top of the heap that he may never be able to beat again. What has made the difference in my friend’s play? Well, I think it is probably those two things I’ve already mentioned: age (he is now in his early forties) and lack of good conditioning. Now, I know the process of aging can’t be stopped, and will necessarily bring on certain unwanted changes in any person’s abilities; but good conditioning is one thing that all pool players can utilize to help offset the negative effects of aging. I remember that my friend used to tell me how he was feeling completely exhausted at the end of those two-day tournament he used to win. At that time, I couldn’t fully appreciate what he was saying because I had never been under pressurized conditions such as those. I didn’t realize the toll it takes on one’s mind and strength to have to bear down for long periods of time. Since that time, however, I have learned what my friend was talking about. So, a number of years ago, I started telling my students that they should keep themselves in good physical condition if they desired to give themselves an edge in competition. But my advice usually went unheeded. Wondering why that was, I stopped and took a good look at the example I was setting. There I was; way out of shape. Why would anyone want to take advice from someone who wasn’t practicing what he was preaching? That’s when I realized that my motivation should be to shape up for my students’ sake. Up to that time I had been resolving to lose weight only for myself. I knew it would be good for me, but that alone didn’t seem to motivate me enough to go ahead and affirm my resolution. But now I had this new motivation: I needed to prove a point! I wanted to show my students that I could not only reach my goal for a good physical condition, but that it would pay the dividends I thought it should. So, at the beginning of this past year came my latest resolution to lose those 30 pounds. Now, twelve months later, I’m happy to report that I’ve exceeded my goal by two pounds! But the best news is that my weight loss wasn’t primarily due to strict dieting, although controlled eating did play a role in it. No, what really did the job for me was exercise - LOTS of exercise. He then lost to Billy Palmer and defeated Rafael Martinez, advancing to the finals where he defeated Billy Palmer 9-4, 9-2.

45th Reno Open matches was 36-0. He was the player to beat. So he sat on the point and waited for his opponent to be determined in the match between Shane Van Boening and Mark Tadd. Shane was in stroke after his match with Edwin and made quick work of Mark winning the match 9-4. Now to the finals, Shane had to beat Johnny twice to take home the victory. Since Johnny had sent Shane to the one loss side, this was a Johnny Archer and Tony Annigoni revenge match for Shane. The set went back and forth until both players were at 7, Shane finished out rack 15. A break and run in the next rack had Shane winning the first set 9-7. One more set and Shane would be the 2007 Reno Open Champion. This time it was all Shane as he jumped out to a 3-1 lead, then increased that to 6-3 and finally finished out the match at 9-3. Shane Van Boening is now in the record books as the 2007 Reno Open Champion. We would like to thank the Sand Regency and Mick McMillin for all the hard work they did in getting the tournament room ready and for having us there, and to Scott Smith and Ken Shuman for doing an excellent job as tournament directors and OTBnTV interviewers. OTBnTV was honored to be a small part of the action and to be able to bring to the pool players, who were not able to attend, video of the finals and semi final rounds. We worked until 4:30 am getting up the footage

from the final match that ended at 6:30 pm, so that it could be viewed as quickly after the completion of the finals as possible. We had the video edited and online within 9 hours. Record Turnout for Straight Pool Tournament from: Bill Bradford

Twenty-one players participated in the 14.1 Tournament at Sam’s Billiards in Portland on Sunday, December 2. David Randell came in 1st, winning matches against Art May, Mitchell Henderson, Chad Kurokawa, Buzz Poleson, and Sam Rabito. Sam Rabito was 2nd, beating Darin Walding, Fred Matzke, Justin Lilje and Damian Rebman before falling to David in the finals. With 21 players, the tournament was broken into seven groups of three, with the top person from each group and one wild card player moving on to the finals. The upset in the finals was Buzz Poleson, the wild card, beating Bob Zack, the number 1 seed. Bob did come back to win 3rd place as well as the high-run prize. It was a pleasure to have a couple of players from out of state, Bill Enger from Seattle and Lee Larson from Minneapolis. Both players played well. Bill advanced to the finals but didn’t end up in the money.

The volume of players forced a format of 40-point, time-shortened games in the finals, which didn’t go over well with several players. The popularity of this tournament is creating more friction as I attempt to provide ample playing time and chances for success, balanced against completing the tournament in a reasonable amount of time. In a continuing (and probably futile) effort to try to quell the dissatisfaction I will continue to tweak the process. Many thanks to all those who put up with the format. I’m pleased to have made it through the tournament in 7 hours. Holiday 8-Ball Open

Missoula, MT - December 14-16, 2007 The Holiday 8-Ball Open was hosted by Buck’s Club in Missoula and sponsored by Bud Light with Pete “Cue Ball” Quande as the tournament director. Fifty-six players showed up to fight it out for the $1,000 Guaranteed added money. Everybody like the layout of the room, red circle cue balls and the tournament went smoothly. In the field was Morgan Steinman who was home visiting her Dad in Darby. Morgan plays out of Galaxy Billiards in New York and was recently named ‘Player of the Year’ on the JPNEWT (her 3rd consecutive time). She is ranked 40th (up from Jeff Boucher 59th) in the WPBA player standings. She finished in 17th place at the WPBA Championship this past November. Pete remarked, “Morgan’s going to be a champion, she has a really nice stroke. I was really impressed with the graciousness she showed to her opponent when she lost”. Archer victorious in close match (15 to 12) Chicago, IL - 12/19/07 - The International Pool Tour (IPT) held its first Challenge match between Earl “The Pearl” Strickland and Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer in the heart of downtown Chicago. Both players are well respected around the world as two of the greatest players to ever play the game. After more than 3 hours of grueling, hard fought and tense hours Johnny Archer emerged victoriously with a score of 15 to 12. Strickland, who was down by five games at one point, showed a valiant effort by pulling within 2 games of Archer before eventually losing the match. And one of the benefits I’ve received from so much exercise is greater endurance. Another is a higher level of concentration, which I believe is due to having a sharper, less-fatigued mind. Still another is a higher level of confidence that is probably derived from having a higher self-esteem. Lately, I’ve been able to work long days and then go out and compete long nights without running out of gas. My win percentage has gone up, and my blood pressure has gone down. My attitude is better, and my outlook is better. I feel better, and I’m performing better. And now I’m beginning to get the results I was really after all along: my students are no longer snickering when I talk to them about physical conditioning.

Europe Takes Home Mosconi Cup USA 8 - 11 Europe TEAM EUROPE has won the 2007 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup following a dominating performance over the final three days of the competition that saw them win ten out of 14 matches. Fittingly it was German veteran Ralf Souquet, who played in the first ever Mosconi Cup back in 1994, who potted the winning 9 ball to secure an 11-8 victory and send his team into a frenzy of celebration. Making a record- equaling 11 appearances, Souquet sealed a glorious victory, as he came from behind against Rodney Morris to win 6-4 in what was the final game of the tournament. Shane Van Boening and then Earl Strickland had kept American hopes alive with wins over Konstantin Stepanov and Daryl Peach respectively. But another win from Tony Drago, this time over Johnny Archer, set Souquet up for his moment of history. “I’m very, very proud of the team. Not one player can win the Mosconi Cup, only the team and the coach can win it”, said Souquet. “On the first day we did not act or play like a team and no one felt comfortable. “We had a very long talk on the same day and we had things to change. We said we are a team and that we could win it,” he added. Leading 9-6 overnight, the European captain Johan Ruijsink, thought long and hard about his critical running order for the Sunday singles. He opted to send his least experienced player out first as Konstantin Stepanov went up against America’s Shane Van Boening. Both players looked nervous as they missed balls but it was Van Boening’s superior skills down the home stretch that carried him to a 6-4 win. Tony Drago then stepped into the fray and cemented his Most Valuable Player credentials with yet another fine win, this time over Johnny Archer by 6-3. There was a feeling that the pressure of the Mosconi Cup may have had an adverse effect on the Maltese potter, but once again he delivered the goods under the most testing of conditions. “Obviously, I was the weakest link in the tournament! To win this cup is an honour. Hopefully I will be in the team again next year and I can’t wait to welcome our US friends to Europe next year, said Drago. “We had the best coach in Johan, the World Champion in Daryl, the most

dedicated player in Niels, a great future player in Konstantin, the scariest player that ever lived in me and the best player in the world in Ralf. “It was so easy for us to come here motivated and we were playing the strongest team ever to play for the Mosconi Cup and it was in America. World Champion Daryl Peach had a great opportunity to win the Mosconi Cup for Europe but ran into an in-form Earl Strickland in an ugly match marred by Strickland’s outbursts. ‘Scum of the earth’ was how Peach described his opponent following some disruptive behaviour during the heated contest. Referee Michaela Tabb was forced to step between the two players after Peach snapped as Strickland branded him a ‘cheat’. The normally mild-mannered Englishman moved towards his opponent, asking him to step outside. Peach claimed that Strickland was trying to put him off as he constantly moved and talked when he was at the table, and following a warning from Tabb, the American went off the rails. Order was finally restored and Strickland eventually won the match 6-3 following some brilliant play in the closing stages. That left Ralf Souquet the opportunity to win the Mosconi Cup for Europe for the third time in its 14 year history.

Normally, this time of year, you would be receiving a Christmas card from us wishing you a wonderful holiday season. Even though we do wish the best for everyone, we do have some sad news that we felt was necessary to get to as many people as possible and this seemed that most efficient way to do so. Dana Nakamura passed away on December 15th after being stricken with an unknown virus. Even though she put up quite a battle, her tiny body just could not withstand the trauma that it had to endure while the doctors and nurses did everything in their power to try to save her life. Dana was just 29 years old and her passing will leave a hollow space in the hearts of all who knew her. Dana joined the league just 3 days after her 21st birthday. In the last 8 years, she proved that great things come in tiny packages as she immerged as a player of high skill and great sportsmanship. Even if you didn’t know her personally, many of you have run across her during tri-cups, regionals or at Chinook Winds. Her brilliant smile and expertise on the pool table left a lasting impression on all of us and she will be missed so much. There was a Memorial Service, December 22 at 11 am at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Portland.
