Titleholders in Lincoln City Washington and Oregon TAP Pool Players compete at Chinook Winds

Once again, Oregon and Washington players from The Association for Pool met for a combined summer Titleholders event - this time at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon. This year, the competition had the added bonus as teams not only played for thousands in cash, but

the chance to qualify for Tap s new Vegas Nationals, coming up in October, 2002. The weekend long event began the fun with a captain s tournament. First prize honors went to Motown Moi of Seattle, 2nd to Pete Pozun of Klamath Falls, and 3rd to Ryuji Yamada of Salem. Two singles events ran simultaneously through the weekend, one for players rated with a 2-4 handicap, the other for players rated 5-7. The 2, 3, & 4 s singles paid out prize money totaling $1200. 1ST ANNUAL CARMEN SISSY SNELL 8-BALL POOL TOURNAMENT

Ocean Shores, Washington Oct 26-28, 2001 We had a great turnout. I learned a lot from this event, next year will be smoother, said Rod Johnson the event coordinator for the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino. Johnson went on to say, Special thanks to Lavina Peaches Underwood, she was a tremendous help! The tournament got its name from a Quinault Tribal member that loved to play pool and loved the casino. Carmen Sissy Snell passed away last year from cancer. The Quinault Beach Resort and Casino wish to thank the family of Carmen Sissy Snell for allowing us to put on the pool tournament in her name. BCA Montana State Championships

Four state pool champions were crowned Sunday in the inaugural Montana State BCA Singles Championships. Dan Hamper, from Helena, won the Men s State A Championship completing the tournament undefeated. He defeated Ryan Grimm in the Championship match. Grimm advanced to the finals coming through the losers bracket by defeating Jeff Boucher of Helena and Bob DeRoeck of Billings in very close matches. Linda Asleson, from Billings, is the Women s State A Division Champion. She was undefeated in the finals on Sunday. The runner up was Janet Dunks, from Butte. Asleson won the championship in a close 4 to 3 match. Also placing were 3rd place Mary Garcia of Butte and 4th Sky Taggart of Great Falls. Curtis Allen won the Men s B Division Tournament defeating Ken Anderson of Butte. Allen was undefeated in Sunday finals. Also

placing were 3rd place Jerry Love, Billings and Keith Abel from Chinook who took 4th place. Valerie Weber, of Billings won the Women s B Division with a very close match with Judy Larango from Anaconda. Larango came through the losers bracket to defeat Weber once but could not beat her twice. Third place went to Linda Ketchum of Billings with 4th place going to Sharon Torske of Billings. Over $11,000 were awarded to players in the tournament. Play began Saturday morning and continued till Sunday afternoon. Players who competed were from throughout the state. The event was held in Billings at Bullwackers Billiards, The Seventeen Club and Charlie Brown s. Next years event is scheduled for October in Billings. (Billings BCA results on page 23)
