by Jean Bartholomew Having just returned from Chinook Winds Casino at Lincoln City on the beautiful Oregon Coast, I must say it was the most successful of all the tournaments thus far. This Western BCA Association has grown immensely in a short 10 years of existence. This Association limits their membership to the three states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Having started with just a few hundred members, it has now over 1800 in it s membership and with more than 900 members participated in this, the 7th Annual Regional 8-Ball Championships. The caliber of play was superb. The tournament was (continued on page 15)
Cue Rossman. Dr Cue showed up at the qualifier to give one of his world famous performances including the wing shot, instructed on the diamond pattern and banking and in general amazed the onlookers with his abilities. Dr Cue will be in the Washington area at Mustard Seed II in Bellevue on April 16th. He will also be appearing in Oregon at The Cue Ball in Salem, April 18th at 6:30 PM and the following day at the APA event at the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City on the 19th at 8:00 PM. 10th Annual U.S. Bar Table Championships
Danny Medina
by: Jay Helfert The big guns were out in force for this year s rendition of the U.S. Bar Table Championships. Four days of fun, hot pool shooting, late night action and casino high rolling got everyone s juices flowing. 106 players teed it up in 9 Ball on Thursday and by Friday night we had a final four of Mark Haddad and Jose Parica on the winner s side and Stan Tourangeau and Kim
Davenport on the one loss side of the board. Mark Haddad is relatively unknown except on the left coast, where he is a force to be reckoned with in 9 Ball and One Pocket. Only a few people remember his runner-up finish to Johnny Archer several years back in the Houston Open. But Mark has made a mark in the last year with high finishes at the Sands and Hard Times. Mark reached the hot seat match with Parica via wins over Tyler Edey 95, Ralph Carr 9-4, Stan Tourangeau 9-4, Dave Martin 9-7 and Edwin Montal 9-5 (completely a Canadian trifecta). He then trounced Kim Davenport 9-1. This should have served as a warning to Jose, who was made the betting favorite by the sweaters and side betters. Jose had already left in his wake Duke Bayman 9-3, Dave Airehart 9-4, Jim Sullivan 9-1, Bernardo Chavez 9-5 and a rejuvenated Rich Geiler 98 in a terrific match. He then laid a 9-0 bomb on Ronnie Wiseman. The two hottest shooters then slugged it out with Haddad emerging on top of a 9-7 score. (see Medina Wins page 12)
