editor’s note Do you feel that? The breeze on your skin, the chill as you breathe? It’s Autumn, friendscardigan weather. If one were inclined to play favourites with the seasons, this would be mine. Following a long hot summer, I finally feel like busting out the doona and contemplating the odd evening hot chocolate and couch cuddle. This edition is all about the turning of the seasons, and the celebration of what comes with each, especially Autumn – my fave!

Lace and extravagance with clean lines is a traditional style worn by Mexican brides, and our model, Kyana. Complete with lace veil from Ivie White, this lace-sleeved couture gown by Judy Copley Bridal is a traditional style with a modern-day sexy low back with pearl and cross embellishments. Bold statement jewellery with a pop of colour from Samantha Wills gives a contemporary twist to an otherwise traditional bridal look.

Cowgirl boots amp up the rustic feel to suit the overall look of the venue and styling.
THE SUNSHINE COAST’S LEADING SUIT RETAIL & HIRE SPECIALISTS Extensive range of menswear from classic cuts and vintage suits through to the latest European design. Shop 3, 137 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba (07) 5444 0204 | suits-direct@bigpond.com | www.suitsdirect.com.au
Tavis wears a gray threepiece suit with black fatboy tie, fastened with a black and gold pin in authentic Mexican style.
The Prickly Pinata dĂŠcor is a creative take on modern iconic Mexican elements. The pastel walls with murals feature tropical fruits and exotic birds alongside familiar Spanish sayings. Another wall features artwork and funky religious crosses.
16
Wholehearted Studio enhanced the existing dĂŠcor by bringing in more Mexican props, and industrial and distressed furniture was used, giving a nod to the history of Mexico.
Whole fruits alongside succulents and bold florals, skulls and other ceramics fill our reception table creating a very colourful fiesta.
21
Mexican styling has a strong emphasis on authentic handmade craftsmanship, so Wholehearted Studio sourced hand cut Papel Picado flags from Mexico to use as placemats, handmade maracas and decorative gold metallic pi単atas.
The invitation suite by Ivy Invite jumps head first into the Day of the Dead theme, a huge fiesta in Mexico strongly connected to their most sacred religious holiday and is all about gathering together with family. The suite features rustic etched pine with Mexican skulls and pineapples, along with a taste of the Spanish language.
18
These sugar skulls are quite literally made of sugar! Perfect little morsels for a Day of the Dead adornment to a Mexican themed neon wedding cake. Ideas in Icing created this spectacular three tiers in fantastical colours with flamingos and cactus for decoration. Accompanied by an impressive pineapple cake creation!

A bouquet rich in colour, full and unstructured with rustic foliage
La Flores Succulents and rustic foliage in abundance, along with bold florals rich in colour and texture designed by trend-setting florists from Twig and Grace.
Our bride’s hair and makeup was inspired by the classic perfection of Eva Peron. Impeccably styled hair is by Evalyn Parsons, while the bold lip and striking eyes are attributed to the talents of Natalie Hunter.

“My advice to other brides is to focus on the big picture and work together as a team. Do you really want your engagement to be reminiscent of bickering and arguing, or a time you’ll both cherish forever? It’s so important to include your partner in the planning and decision-making, it’s their day too!”

We had a huge bridal party, which was really special to us. It wasn’t just a select few sharing the entire day with us; it was all of our very best friends. It was really special that we could have our dog included in the day - she came to the pictures.

“Our whole wedding was based on showing the people our love for each other, but also the love that we had for them. Providing our guests with little things to make the day more enjoyable was important to us. For example we had popcorn throughout the ceremony, fans to keep them cool, a photo booth and DJ to keep them entertained, and a candy bar.

leaves Bridal Fashion and Florals for an Autumn Bride As the first hint of chill breezes in, we are blessed with pretty days of glowing warmth, littered with leaves of amber and gold. Autumn weddings are weather-perfect and allow for much versatility in fashion and styling. We teamed local designer Erin Clare Couture designs with Jennifer Oliphant Photographer for our Autumn-inspired bridal fashion shoot at the always inspiring Noosa Botanical Gardens.
'KATIE'
is a fine Chantilly Lace gown with a scalloped back and cap sleeve detail, highlighting the beauty in this lace and flowing gently over the silk jersey underlay. Worn beautifully with a veil and handcrafted double string Swarovski Crystal earrings.
FLOWERS
are not just for carrying or prettily placing in a vase these days. You are only limited by your imagination when working with an innovative, skilled florist. Wrist corsages are a fun floral adornment, however if you want to really make an impression, consider something truly unique such as a floral belt or ring made of tiny succulents.

“Heavenly Blooms was born from a passion for flowers and the love of transforming them into nostalgic floral bouquets. Organically grown in our own flower beds on the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Each wedding posy is made from flowers that send a unique message on your special day. At Heavenly blooms we weave love into our bouquets to suit each brides individual story, enhancing your dream wedding so it will be remembered forever.

‘BLOSSOM’
features 3D embroidered lace and delicate tulle flowers, pretty sheer three quarter sleeves and a modest, yet striking plunging back detail. A modern classic bridal hair style is partially relaxed, but also with asymmetrical structure, a chignon basis, and enough intricacies to draw the eye. A specialty of Evalyn Parsons Hair.
‘JASMINE’
wraps around the back of the gown with a dramatic cut out back detail, and features a statement sequin bodice and soft tulle skirt overlay, which is removable for a more simple style. This dress is a great option for those wanting a change for the reception, without the added expense of purchasing an entire second dress.
65
LILLY’S
delicate features were enhanced with subtlety by Gorgeous Beauty & Makeup, adding just the right amount of colour pop in her berry lip colour to offset the blooms.
HEAVENLY BLOOMS
incorporated autumn leaves into the bouquets and other floral arrangements, they even hung strings of leaves in a nod to the seasonal theme, and utilised bronze goblets, bowls and tray top table for rich warm dĂŠcor styling.

as the seasons turn
Make the season your muse, designing bridal beauty that speaks to the turning leaves, chill in the air, new life or the streaming sunshine. Four different, but equally inspiring, Sunshine Coast hinterland locations provided the perfect backdrops for our seasonal shoot.
WINTER at Maleny Manor
Cool greys are alluring with blue eyes, stealing the show when offset by highlighted pretty pink cheeks and a matching nude mauve-pink lip. A slick high bun is a perfect style for the modern veiled bride.
SPRING at Spicers Clovelly Estate
Fresh and pretty, a free-spirited young look with lovely lilac eye colour, and a pearly pink lip. Flushed cheeks complete this sweet makeup design.
Curls in a carefree style and a braided halo are just the sweetest thing! The softly swept front works perfectly with ombre coloured hair.
SUMMER at House of Laurels
Bold red lips are always a stand out, teamed beautifully with naturally defined eyes and the perfect brow. This structured hair style featured a gorgeous chignon in the back, pin curls and great height with the swept over style in the front.
74
Warm colours of pale gold and bronze are teamed with a gorgeous deep brown to define the eyes in a glamorous style with a soft smokey edge. The look is completed with a pretty coral lip.
