publishers’ note Can you do us a little favour? As you flip through the first few pages of this here scrumptious little mag, hum your fave Beach Boys tune. It will really make the experience exactly as it is intended. It’s a little slice of heaven in the form of a 1960’s beach resort wedding, so to us it just screams Kokomo. It is winter here in Australia, not that you would know it on the Sunshine Coast. Most days we have beach-friendly weather with lots of sunshine and it simply cools down enough in the evening to snuggle up on the couch under a blanket with your honey. It is a truly divine time of year for a wedding. There are arguably more dry days in the cooler months than our more tropical summers, and in many cases you can score yourself some great value deals on accommodation and venues. Just a little tip from us to you; don’t say we never give you anything. We have also given you 100-odd pages of wedding goodness from Caloundra to Noosa and stopped along the way at Birtinya, Point Cartwright, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Marcoola. We’ve also taken a little detour through the hinterland for good measure. So come along and enjoy… We’ll get there fast and then we’ll take it slow… Lots of love, Sally and Jenny

GET THERE FAST AND TAKE IT SLOW, That’s where we wanna go...
Come on pretty mama, I wanna take you back to the 1960’s on a beach resort holiday. Why elope to Hawaii when you can create your own tropical paradise right here right here at Surfair Weddings @ Ramada Marcoola? We did just that, and it was easy with a little help from our stylist friends at Whiskaway Weddings and a team of amazing professionals. Images by Chesterton Smith Photography.
These aqua chairs with a sweet little starfish detail, and vintage Malibu surf boards with orange accents, are a striking ceremony set up. This simplicity allows the incredible location of Marcoola Beach, with views of Old Woman Island, to be the star of the show.

Now if you wanna go to get away from it all‌
Our bride’s Brigitte Bardotesque flowing, half up bouffant hair design is feminine and gorgeous, in stark contrast with our groom’s sleek Don Draperinspired ‘do. Both styled by Hair by Nicola. A hint of the 1960’s was continued through to the makeup by Tasleema Nigh Makeup Artist. A wing eyeliner here, a nude lip there, this design would be beautiful on any bride.
Relaxed and clean grey slacks and waistcoat is teamed with a slim fit slate blue jacket with an open collar in a nod to the sports coat dual tone formal attire of the 60’s era. Groom’s suit and shoes are from Suits Direct. Tropical-inspired button hole by Twig and Blossom finishes the look perfectly.
Our model’s retro-inspired lace gown by designer Marilyn Crystelle Bridal was created specifically for our shoot with a relaxed 1960’s theme in mind. It has the perfect fusion of 1960’s glamour with a modern boho edge.
Crank up The Beach Boys in your blue convertible Kombi to make it to your beach ceremony on time. You won’t have to go far, Surfair is beachfront with its own private access to pristine Marcoola Beach.

An outdoor reception table under festoon lights is magical as the sun goes down.
Floating bright florals and succulents surrounding a pineapple and white pillar candles make for a creative and fresh centrepiece. Aqua dinnerware and clear shiny glassware atop hessian placemats set off this tablescape.
A full table of flowers in various glass and ceramic vases as a centrepiece of your reception is a trend we are completely on board with. The graduating design gives a sense of grandeur, and can be achieved with inexpensive florals of many colours or simple white with greenery, like this one by Twig and Blossom. Sat atop a midcentury cedar table, it is stunning. Chevron and succulents were utilised in the cake design by Sunny Girl Cakes to tie in with the other styling.
Ivy Invite created a brand new stationery range especially for our shoot, incorporating the chevron and pineapple elements used throughout the styling. A crisp white and aqua design blended with the shoot colour palette, along with amazing etched plywood place cards, menus and an invitation suite, wrapped beautifully in hand-stamped cotton muslin. Delightful!
Cocktails and moonlit nights
Cocktails and funky ottomans with a low-lying restored palette table makes for a chill out zone with a fun tropical resort holiday feel. Twig and Blossom created a stunning full bouquet utilising tropical floral elements to bring in the island wedding feel, perfect for our beach resort location.

“I knew from the start that I wanted to remain really grounded for the wedding. I hear so many stories of women turning into monsters in the months before their wedding day. lovely day. white wedding.
Before 140 guests, Dubai-based couple, Nicola and Jonathan, were married in Noosa beach ceremony at Maison La Plage, followed by a restaurant reception at Bistro C. Theirs was a stunning white wedding, planned from afar with the expertise of wedding planner and stylist, Carly Laczko Baum, director of CL Weddings and Events, who writes about the design process. Photos by Focus Films Photography
Guests arrived to a beautiful Noosa Autumn day where the sun was warm, skies clear and a perfect blue. Nicola and Jonathan’s style was of smart modern design with soft floral touches that suited the beachside location. Our ceremony style used fresh white blooms with Phalaenopsis Orchids spilling from the large mercury glass vessels, white timber tiffany chairs, silver and glass lanterns tied with a deep grey thick grosgrain ribbon to complement the invitation suite styling.
We loved the green grass space at Maison La Plage with its ocean backdrop and shady tress for the expected sunny day.

Once the nuptials were completed, a large timber bar was set up with French champagne, icy cold beer and mineral water for guests to enjoy while the jazz duo of guitar and saxophone played. This couple wanted a celebratory feel to their day, they lived in Dubai and couldn’t wait to spend this time in Noosa with their nearest and dearest, albeit 140 of them! Styling was an important part of their day, as was great food and good French wine and champagne, a rare thing to enjoy in Dubai.
Bistro C is such a perfect location for weddings with its modern eclectic and edgy dĂŠcor. We filled the room with white flowers, keeping the mercury glass vessels design and adding flowers, such as lisianthus, hydrangea, tulips, orchids, roses, chrysanthemums, garden roses, stock and hyacinth.
In lieu of a guest book, the couple purchased six outstanding red wines, perfect for cellaring, added tags to their bottle necks with which anniversary date it would be opened and enjoyed. They then asked all guests to write a special note on the bottles for them to read on the date noted and relive their day over and over again.
A day filled with so much love, fun, dancing, singing and espresso martinis!

We incorporated modern styling elements, such as a wheatgrass, a seating plan for guests to find their seats, and a stunning letterpress stationary range from invitation suite to place cards and thank you notes.

We want to capture your day like its the most important day in your life (cos it is) and for you to be able to watch it ten years later and still feel goosebumps when you watch it.
