editor’s note Friends and colleagues often remark, “You are so lucky, you get to look at pretty weddings all day!” They seem to have the impression that I lead a super glam life, where I’m flitting off to fun events and lunches with the ladies, getting pampered and playing dress ups. Well let me tell you, day to day, that’s not really the case. Especially these past few months, I have been in Mum-mode big time. When your “holidays” start revolving around soccer tournaments, you know you’ve crossed over to another level of parenthood. Most weekends commence with me in pair of jeans, travel mug of coffee in hand, lugging my fold-up chair across the field, hoping I haven’t forgotten it’s my week to bring the half-time oranges. Now we are at the end of the season and I hardly know what to do with myself.

Luckily it’s summer! Hurrah! Time to start keeping towels in my car boot in case an impromptu beach swim opportunity arises… and it frequently does! The backseat will be a sandpit in no time – just the way I like it. I know I said I don’t get to play dress-ups all the time, but this one time recently I did when I was asked to be in a styled shoot. I will be blogging the results soon, so keep a look out! It was so much fun, but I think it will be a onetime thing! Enjoy our 11th Volume, lovely brides!

“The most important thing to us was the wedding venue. We really loved the idea of a garden wedding with soft colours and lots of greenery and flowers. We also wanted to be as creative as possible with our venue so when we found Maleny Retreat we knew we had found a winner. It was a blank canvas on which we were able to create anything we wished.

“Although it was a lot of work, getting married on my parent’s property was so special. We always go there for holidays and to return to the place where we were married is wonderful.”
“We didn’t want to have too many formal proceedings on the day, however my cousin got his Marriage Celebrant license in the lead up to the wedding in order to marry us. It was an incredibly generous and amazing thing for him to do. It was so wonderful.”

INSPIRATIONAL STYLED SHOOT
In the ultimate act of solidarity, six friends (and one Chow Chow) exit their everyday lives in search adventure and happily ever after modern-day gypsy style... A group elopement at Little Cove, Noosa! Styling and decorating by Lovebird Weddings.Â
Roaming carefree, it’s all about friendship, good times and dazzling destinations. Load up the Kombi with man’s best friend, (like Mackenzie, the Chow Chow, a spectacular furry companion!), a surf board, tunes and good conversation. You’ll be there in no time.

A group elopment on the beach is the ultimate in solidarity, a sentiment not lost on Celebrant Suzanne Riley, who is a gypsy girl at heart. Suzanne wears white lace playsuit, kimono and hat from Gypsy Stone. Rings and bracelet also from Gypsy Stone. A unique focal point for a beach wedding without any airs is a driftwood arch, adorned with strips of lace and macramĂŠ floating romantically in the breeze, and twisted rope gives a castaway feel.

Mermaid babe! Fishtail braid and beachy curls for Ashlee complement her peacock blue and smokey brown eye makeup, inspired by the ocean. Gold and rose striking eyes with a teased mane is a sexy gypsy look on Kirra. Kirra’s sexy “Gold Digger” long-sleeved gown is by Judy Copley Bridal. Shell necklace and rings from Gypsy Stone.

Autumn colours meet fresh spring flowers, unstructured and oversized. Floral hues of lavender, deep plum hint at traditional gypsy colour richness, and are offset by the softness of peach, cream and apricot. Â

The guys and girls get comfy with canapĂŠs, music and good conversation on the palette day bed. Antipasto sharing plates with meats, cheeses and breads are passed around, and colourful cocktails sit atop a basket coffee table. Â Cushions and throws incorporating traditional gypsy elements, such as coin fringe and rich maroon add to the mysticism. And of course there is always time for a jam session.
A hanging crab pot entwined with fresh vines provides a hanging feature amidst the bamboo canopy, draped with lace, linen and muslin, creating lots of interesting texture. Fresh seafood and colourful quinoa salad to share, lovingly prepared by Capelli Foods. Rattan bench seats make for a cosy and intimate group gathering with cause for much celebration!
Callum, Luke and Dane wear clothing from Number 19 Boutique, styled by Lizz Pennings.
Hurricane candles and floral arrangements in rattan lanterns scatter the centre of the reception table. Wreaths of greenery and herbs vintage mismatched china, home to embroidered napkins with stick place names.

In a classic Noosa beach wedding Sydney couple, Laura and Adam, combined casual modern sophistication with the traditions of their Jewish heritage. A unique concept, embraced by the couple’s stylist, Carly Baum, director of CL Weddings and Events, who writes about the design process.
For Laura and Adam’s beachside ceremony we created a traditional chuppah (canopy), using both a soft cotton draping, touches of beautiful florals and Jewish prayer mats, allowing both their modern style and their tradition to be part of their nuptials. The couple were married by their family Rabbi from Sydney.

The bride and groom do not see each other for the week preceding the nuptials. During the ceremony, the bride and groom drink from two cups of wine. The first signifies the sanctity of their union, the second receives seven blessings first. Following the ceremony, the couple are taken to a private “yuchid” room to share a few moments of seclusion. Guests bring “simcha” (joy) to the couple with much dancing and entertainment at the wedding reception!
The reception was styled with gorgeous linen furnishings with touches of French rattan, bronzed side tables and florals in soft hues that showcased the already outstanding styling of the venue and its dark timber features.

Surrounded by family, friends, singing, dancing and abundance of food, Laura and Adam hosted a cocktail-style reception, so they could be sure to get around to each and every one of their 150 guests, who flew to Noosa to celebrate their marriage. As with all Jewish weddings, the music is so important, so the dance floor took pride of place with food stations surrounding the lounge areas.
