The Bride's Tree Volume 2

Page 1

publishers’ note Recently we were at a bridal expo, and we met one of the models from the fashion parade, who happened to be engaged. She was in awe of all of the beautiful elements the bridal industry here have to offer, but wistful with the long-accepted belief she could never have a wedding of her own, due to her lack of budget. When we told her about the real weddings in the last edition of The Bride’s Tree Magazine, and how two of them in particular were very low budget weddings, she was thrilled! We chose the weddings purely because they were beautiful, creative weddings, and it just so happened they were really affordable options. The whole point of The Bride’s Tree, from the blog to the planning tools, from the galleries to the magazine, is to inspire everybody to create the beautiful, amazing weddings we know you can have here on the Sunshine Coast with a little planning and the talents of our gorgeous industry professionals, who are hands-down some of the best in the world. We know Volume 2 of our pretty little rag holds a little something to delight each and every one of you. Lots of love and happy wedding planning! Sally and Jenny

T T A M & A R A M TA CASUAL BEACH SHABBY CHIC WEDDING IN NOOSA Ceremony: Hidden Grove, Noosa Reception: Rickys River Bar + Restaurant Photographer: Karen Buckle Photography Guests: 33 Cost: $10,500

In June last year, Matt decided the timing was perfect for him to make his romantic proposal to Tamara. On a wintery Friday afternoon, Matt told Tamara to have a shower, which she did, and then put on her finest flannelettes. While she was still upstairs, Matt asked Tamara to call Jack, the older of their two much-loved furry Border Collie babies. Jack ran upstairs wearing a bow tie and a sign around his neck that read, “Will you marry my Daddy’?” Their other furry baby, Oscar, followed soon after with a sign that read, “So we can be a family.” Awwww! After quite a few tears, Tamara of course said yes. And so here we share the day that marks a very special moment in their continuing love story. 5

“WE ARE BOTH VERY SIMPLE PEOPLE WHO JUST LIVE FOR THE BEACH.” This beautiful couple first met when surf-lifesaving together, the beach always being a huge part of their lives. The wedding location was a no-brainer, it simply had to be a beautiful Noosa beach. The styling was all about the quintessential casual beach wedding with wicker pews, seashell decorations and stunning fresh floral arrangements of pink and peach for a pretty pop of colour. 6

classic modern glam wedding inspiration

The stylish and glamorous folk of our time are all about symmetry without being too uniform or matchy, and incorporating classically romantic and feminine aspects amongst clean lines and classic colours. Modern glamour is lavish, but understated. It involves intricate detailing, but also appears effortless. Our classic modern glam wedding inspiration styled shoot took place at a private property on the Sunshine Coast, and features the work of the very best wedding industry professionals we have to offer.

17

Take care of your guests by providing some basic, not to mention pretty, comforts of parasols and pink lemonade. Inspired by the lavish Kim Kardashian wedding, Beedazzled Events have really outdone themselves with the creation of this wedding ceremony arbour, specially constructed for our shoot and now available to hire. Talk about making a statement to your wedding guests! The arbour is flanked with vases of Paper White Jonquils, White Hyacinth, Ornamental Kale, White Peonies and White Singapore Orchids. The lovely arrangements were by i-blossom, which provided a gorgeous aroma. The bright white of the arbour itself and the flowers makes an immediate impression of glamour, and the unique ghost chairs add an interesting element, without distracting from the other styling.

18

Sweets buffets are always a winner. Beedazzled catering suggest also including some beautifully displayed fruit and other dessert options great for your guests to help themselves to with an after dinner coffee. Alongside the lollies in gorgeous apothecary jars, there is something for everybody.

The long table, allowing all your guests to dine together, is a popular way to set up your reception these days and makes everybody feel involved and a part of the occasion.

Modern glamour is about creating a look that is on trend and personalised to your tastes, so including a bit of rustic charm in a unique tea light candle chandelier and some fairy lights amongst the trees is totally allowed, and in fact encouraged! Bringing stylish glamour to the outdoors with plenty of feminine touches, our reception table is set with white linen, silverware and crystal, allowing the pretty pink of the flowers by i-blossom and menu, place settings and table number stationery by Stand Tall Design to take centre stage. 24

The amazing gowns from eVisual Bridal Boutique are all separate bodices and skirts, allowing you a wider variety of options when selecting your perfect gown.

Our beautiful bride is looking ultra glam with her unstructured asymmetrical hair style, created by the talented Hair by Nicola. This is complimented by the beautiful makeup by KJ Artistry, which incorporates browns and pinks in a classic glam design that also retains that natural look we love for brides.

This round posy is made of white Peony Roses, pale pink Double Tulips, pale pink Cymbidium Orchids, and white roses. Joda Designs is a local Sunshine Coast jewellery designer, specialising in custom designs made from Swarovski crystals, pearls and precious gems set in silver, 14 carat gold or platinum gold.

Our groom is stylishly dressed in his suit and cuff links by Suits Direct, Mooloolaba, who provide both purchase and hire formal menswear.

colourful vintage-inspired wedding in montville Ceremony and Reception: The Spotted Chook Ferme Auberge Photographer: Shutter and Lace Guests: 35 Cost: $18,000

It was chef and waitress love developed at the French Bistro for Erinn and James. They bonded over a mutual love of good food, (in fact, James proposed over a meal of pasta and lamb!), and discovered they have similar goals in life. Together they work hard to achieve them. This and their beautiful baby girl, Sophia, make their relationship strong. Their colourful wedding at The Spotted Chook Ferme Auberge was a positively joyful sight with lots of colour and plenty of love. Not only the love between the couple, but it was evident in every embroidered tablecloth, and each bunch of fresh flowers placed throughout the ceremony and reception, as this wedding was truly a labour of love for Erinn. Having scoured all of Brisbane for her perfect pieces, she put together a very personal event. Expanding on the already colourful venue, Erinn included a lot of fresh flowers in vases and bottles at both their outdoor ceremony under the gazebo, and their indoor reception with a view. Erinn’s creative family all pitched in with the DIY. Her clever sister, Hannah, crafted the embroidered tablecloths and 30 metres of bunting made from various vintage fabric found online at Etsy. Hannah also hand drew all of the adorable birds on the bags of bird seed, provided for tossing over the happy couple! Erinn describes her gramdmother as the most skilful person she knows, and so her talents were put to good use in sewing the flowergirl dresses, making the wedding cake and the bridal party’s corsages. James even pitched in with prettying up old bottles with lace and creating hanging lanterns from old mason jars. 35

KEY ELEMENTS -

Bush setting, Vegan vintage picnic, Butterflies

It is their deep spiritual connection with nature that made Rebel and Richard choose their own beautiful country property in Connondale as their wedding venue. The stunning bush setting was really the main feature of the wedding. With such a large space, some careful thought was put into the styling by Lovebird Weddings, which gave a nod to the country setting, and added a vintage element. A new trend sweeping the world of weddings is the “first look.” This is where the betrothed couple have a private meeting prior to the wedding ceremony. Usually the excited groom eagerly awaits his bride’s arrival in a carefully chosen location. Nobody else is around, aside from the stealthy photographer, in this case Robeccer from Adori Studios, who captures the once-in-a-lifetime moment when the couple see each other for the first time on the day they will become husband and wife. This idea worked out splendidly for Rebel and Richard, who wished to walk their aisle together with the sound of bagpipes piercing the quiet of the bush. The ceremony included a very special butterfly release and American Indian readings. The reception was catered by Maleny vegan café, The Kind Living Café. 53

THE PROPOSAL “Rich proposed to me one night, while we were camping in the very same paddock we held our wedding ceremony. It was on that same night that we first sighted a pair of platypus in the Mary River that runs through our property. This prompted us to name the paddock, ‘Platypus Paddock’. Rich was quite nervous and forgot the ring the first time, and made a nervous dash back up to the house to get it. It was a beautiful starry night in the middle of the bush beside a warm campfire to make it all the more romantic.”

ERIN AND MICHAEL Elegant Hinterland Wedding in Maleny Ceremony and Reception: Weddings at Tiffany’s Photographer: Luke Going Photography Guests: 70

KEY ELEMENTS: Amazing hinterland view Elegance-meets-rustic charm Pink bridesmaids dresses

It took Erin and Michael 12 long years to finally tie the knot. They were highschool sweethearts, and over the years have gone their separate ways a couple of times, but always gravitated back towards each other. When their wedding day came, they delighted in a day that was very suited to them. Their stylish, but relaxed, celebration with beautiful people and the exquisite setting at Weddings at Tiffany’s in Maleny. When planning their wedding, Erin and Michael were more than happy to put faith in some startup suppliers, who while they didn’t have a gazillion weddings under their belts, struck the pair as talented people worth taking a punt on. They also asked family and friends to recommend people they knew, who would be able to put their skills to good use, although they may not be seasoned professionals. This resourcefulness helped save a lot of money. One of the most important things to the pair was having their wedding ceremony and reception in the same place. They didn’t want a huge gap of time between the two, while photos were being taken, either. Their solution to this was to have a 4 o’clock wedding under the Weddings at Tiffany’s pergola, followed by a super quick photo shoot, then go straight inside for the reception to begin. Michael was never keen on the idea of posing for photos while his guests were left behind enjoying drinks and canapes. However, he admitted the photo shoot was a lot more enjoyable than he expected, thanks to the friendly, easygoing, and unobtrusive Luke Going, who undeniably took some uniquely beautiful photos of their wedding. 65
