hen you read this the Easyriders Bike Show will be history and we will be getting ready for the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine 15th Attempt, Almost A Tradition, Pre-Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party & Oyster Roast. This year’s event will be held at Horsefeathers Roadhouse at 3746 Mount Pleasant Road in Sherrills Ford, NC on February 9th from 12-6pm. Now, if you have never attended a Fear Of February Party, you just ain’t! This year we will have free oysters (steamed and raw) provided by Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer, Bob Karney and free chicken wings provided by US Foods. If you don’t like either of them, you can order World Famous Hawg Wings or any of their other delicious entrees off of the Horsefeathers menu (http://horsefeatherspark.com). The Jeff Gates Blues Band (JeffGatesBand.com) will be providing the music and we will give away a BIG SCREEN TV to one lucky winner. Bruce Hayes, “The King Of Diamonds”, is supplying the diamond heart pendant that is sure to please your sweetheart. If you have been to the Fear Of February party before, you know that we always have really cool event t-shirts. Hey! We even play bike games. I bet you have never heard of “Hit’er in the shi##er” Have you? If the weather is bad, come in your car. We’ll even provide a motorcycle for you to show off your rodeo skills to your bros. There will be some vendors. Bob Karney, Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer will be there with his new 2013 calendar and he usually has some pretty girls there autographing them, too. Chris Hollifield of Carolina Distillers in Lenoir, NC will be on hand and Carriage House Apple Brandy will be featured. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine will have our signature shot glasses on hand for the occasion. The Fear Of February party lasts until 6pm, but lots of the hearty hang around and party after the party. A&M Crane Services will be providing shuttle service to nearby motels, so you can overdo it without risking a DUI. Book a room at your choice of motels at I-77 and NC 150. Wingate by Wyndham (704-664-4900) will give you an $89 rate (Indoor pool & hot breakfast inc.) and Days Inn Mooresville (704-664-6100) is $62.95 (Continental Breakfast inc.) if you mention The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Fear Of February Party when you book your room. Now come on. Let’s start the 2013 riding season off with a road trip to The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine 15th Attempt, Almost A Tradition, Pre-Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party & Oyster Roast at Horsefeathers Roadhouse. Pat Rogers Speedway H-D 11th Annual Anniversary And Birthday Bash By: Mark Infield On January 12th the weather forecast was looking great. When you get a day in the upper 60’s and low 70’s in January you ride! Our destination was Concord, NC to attend Pat Rogers Speedway Harley-Davidson’s 11th Annual Anniversary And Birthday Bash. WildThing and I met Rose Crutchfield and Lloyd Luquer in Thomasville for a leisurely ride down 109 and 49 through the country. It was a perfect day for it and I much prefer that pace to that of I-85 not to mention all the construction. It added 40 minutes to the ride, but, oh well! Lloyd was leading, so all I had to do was follow, which just added to my pleasure. We arrived around 12:30 and the crowd was just starting to roll in. We parked and walked up to the registration table. There we met Natasha Johnson, the new marketing person and got some 50/50 tickets and registered for the raffle. The HOG Chapter had a nice cookbook for sale and the Hooters girls were giving away “bonelessâ€? wings and pulled pork sliders. The “boneless wingsâ€? were tasty, but they were not wings, rather chunks of white meat covered in a variety of sauces that included mild, hot, and Daytona. They were just what a boy who missed breakfast needed! Drag racing legend, Roy Hill had some bitchin’ Mustangs on the lot and they were beautiful. They were there for eye candy, but when Roy loaded up the Hooters girls at the end of the day to deliver them back to Hooters, they were even more beautiful! During the day, Cloud 9 provided the entertainment and people mingled outside and gathered inside the showroom to look at the new 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycles and MotorClothes apparel. It was warm enough that it seemed
weird looking for shade in January. Around 2 pm Pat Rogers officially cut the Anniversary/Birthday cake and like true Harley riders, everyone lined up to get a piece. As a special treat, NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne’s mother, Tammy helped cut and serve the cake. You just never know who you might meet at Pat Rogers Speedway Harley-Davidson. Natasha Johnson gave away door prizes, the 50/50, and a $300 Pat Rogers Speedway Harley-Davidson gift card. The $68 split of the 50/50 went back to Monroe with Cecil. The other $68 went to the Pat Rogers Foundation. The $300 Pat Rogers Speedway Harley-Davidson gift card was won by Steve Lawrence. Rose won a $20 gift card to Texas Land & Cattle steak house (TexasLandAndCattle.com), so that’s where we ate after the event. By now, I was really hungry, and the food was great! It was still light as we headed for home, but it was not long before it was dark. I am glad it wasn’t cold because we took I-85 home. It was a great day and I recommend stopping by Pat Rogers Speedway Harley-Davidson (SpeedwayHarley-Davidson.com) at 10049 Weddington Road in Concord, NC anytime. Pat and his staff will make you feel like old friends. It is a destination. Let’s ride! You can view and download pictures from this event for FREE at FullThrottleMagazine.com

New Year’s Day Ride Turned Into Jan 5 New Year’s Ride
By: Chappy K. Pitts After years of our local CMA chapter doing a New Year’s Day Ride out of Lincoln County, here we were looking at doing it yet again. However, as the day grew near the weather forecast was looking worse and worse for riding. I put out the word that we would postpone the ride to Saturday, January 5th. On Tuesday January 1st, I looked out the window and all I saw was rain and cold, not the weather any biker would purposefully go out and ride in, and I realized that I had made the right call by postponing the New Year’s Day Ride. Even though I had put the word out, I still rode up to the meet spot to see if anyone did show up, and by 11:15am I felt sure that if they hadn’t showed up by then that they weren’t going to. On Saturday morning, January 5th, the first Saturday of the New Year, we met at the Kangaroo Station on Main Street in Lincolnton, NC. We do many of our rides out of there, and even though it was a smaller group, it was still a great group of riders to be with. It was a blustery 30º when we met with a forecast high of mid to upper 40’s. It was definitely a day to be bundled up. We pulled out of the parking lot and headed south on 321, into SC and through Clover all the way down to York, and then turned onto SC 5 and headed back North towards Blacksburg, SC. The traffic was light and the ride was quite
enjoyable. We stopped at the Flying J truck stop in Blacksburg, SC and fueled up with the cheaper SC gas. We went into the Denny’s there and had a great lunch and great conversation and a time of fellowship. Once done with lunch we did a Bike Blessing in the Flying J parking lot for everyone that had come on the ride with us. After lunch we headed on up SC 5 into NC and then NC 180 through Shelby and headed back towards Lincolnton. Even though it was a bit cold, it was still an enjoyable ride, and wonderful company that it was shared with. A big THANKS goes out to all the CMA members that showed up, as well as the Lincoln County Cruisers and other groups that shared in this New Year’s Ride with us. This year CMA will be hosting monthly rides April - October on the first Saturday of each month, leaving from the Kangaroo Station in Lincolnton, NC at 9am. Destinations will vary, some may be local in-county rides, and others may be longer rides up towards the mountains and some through SC. I am looking forward to a great 2013. Chappy is the 2013 Road Captain for CMA Chapter #539 Ambassadors For Christ Lincolnton, NC and can be reached at chappykpitts@gmail.com or at 980-429-6877

Desperado’s MC 3rd Annual Operation Kids On Guard Toy Drive
By: The Desperados of South Wake County It was a beautiful, sunny day in FuquayVarina, NC with plenty of toys, festive holiday music playing, smiles, laughter, and support for our 3rd Annual Toy Drive “Operation Kids On Guard” sponsored by the Desperados of South Wake. The toys and money, which was turned into iTunes for the older children, made everyone very happy this year. This event was held on December 15, 2012 at The After Hours Pub in Fuquay-Varina. The staff there was happy, festive, and extremely helpful in making this event such a big success. The food they presented for our guests and members was delicious and plentiful. Our brothers and sisters from the Selma Desperados charter as well as other members from the MC world attended this event with toys in tow ready to help many children of North Carolina have a wonderful holiday season. These children have one or both parents serving in our National Guard and we do our best to help these families make sure Santa has plenty to go around. We delivered all the goodies on December 17, 2012 to the National Guard Armory in Morrisville, NC, and they were extremely delighted to see us and were so thankful for everyone’s help. We would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at After Hours Pub in Fuquay-Varina, all the members of The South Wake Desperados MC, the brothers and sisters of The Selma Desperados MC, all the MCs and all the supporters that help to make this year a wonderful year with their generous donations. Special thanks go out to all the locations listed below that housed our drop boxes for this event. We would not have been
as big of a success with out you: After Hours Pub in FuquayVarina, Aversboro Restaurant and Sports Bar in Garner, The Brick Bar and Grill in Fuquay-Varina, Mama Rabbit’s Motor Lounge and Pure Country Bar in Willow Spring, and Sam & Bill’s Hair Design in Raleigh. Thank you all for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you again in 2013. Our goal is to double what we did in 2012, so make sure you keep your eyes out for our donation boxes in November and let’s really show our support for the men and women serving in our National Guard.

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine
An American Motorcycle Girl By: WildThing “Do You Like Old Motorcycles?” is the prominent question posed in the Antique Motorcycle Club of America’s Southern National Meet ad in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. If the answer is, “Yes! Plan to attend the meet May 17-18, 2013 at The Denton Farmpark in Denton, NC. This year besides all the great old motorcycles, parts and antique vendors, and a narrated parade of motorcycles, we will be treated to a guest speaker of international fame – Cris Sommer-Simmons. Cris has an enviable and storied history of growing up riding motorcycles, riding as a passenger at age 9, getting her first bike at 14, and her first Harley at 19. a coffee table book: The American Motorcycle Girls 1900 1950, which I was fortunate to receive as a Christmas gift last year. It chronicles those brave, fabulous lady riders of the first part of the 20th century that paved the way for all of us girls riding today. Last spring, I was able to pick up an autographed copy of her journal, The American Motorcycle Girl’s Cannonball Diary, recounting her 2010 cross-country ride on the Cannonball Run, (all pre-1916 motorcycles) on her 1915 HarleyDavidson. In spring 2012, Cris and her husband Pat had just visited at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley and autographed several copies left there for purchase. I am so looking forward to the AMCA Meet for the Meet itself, and also for the added bonus of getting the chance to hear Cris Sommer-Simmons talking about her life passion. I heard that she has committed to come, but as busy as she is, and it’s a long way from Hawaii, I hope nothing interferes with her ability to appear. All you female riders out there and any curious men, this is a unique opportunity to meet a legend in her own time right in our own backyard!

AHDRA Official Announcement
By: Craig Tharpe, owner AHDRA LLC I don’t really know where to start. This is one of the toughest things I have ever had to do. I guess the best thing to do is just get it out of the way. The 2013 AHDRA Championship Points Series is cancelled. I am sorry for holding everyone up, but there was potential to work this out and I wanted to give it the best shot. Unfortunately, it did not materialize. With our declining sponsorship support, most likely driven by our declining racer and spectator attendance, most likely driven by our crappy economy, we are unable to plan a budget that has a positive bottom line. This would be the 5th year of negative cash flow for AHDRA and she just can’t stand it financially. Although they were committed to remaining as a presenting AHDRA sponsor for 2013, Harley-Davidson is moving most of its sponsorship spending to the NHRA’s Sportsman series. Last week’s news from the folks at Rush Racing Products, that they would not be continuing their sponsorship at AHDRA, was the final blow. These were our two largest sponsors and contributed the lion’s share of sponsor revenue for AHDRA (AHDRA.com). I want to thank Hawaya Racing, Vreeland’s H-D, Irene Fish, Frank Capone, RC Components, Gainesville H-D and all the others that have committed their support for 2013. However, without the level of support from Harley-Davidson and Rush, we can’t make the numbers work. I also want to thank Harley-
Davidson and Rush Racing Products for their many years of support. Business is business and though I wish it were different, they made their decisions based on what’s best for their future. I have enjoyed working with Kris Schoonover at H-D and Terry Daniel and Lou Pringle at Rush. These were hard decisions for them to make, and I respect their need to make them. I also want to thank all of the AHDRA members and competitors. You are one great group of people. I have lived and breathed Harley Drag Racing for the past 14 years, and have met some of the finest people I have ever known. You inspired me and kept me going through the good times and the rough times. Please know that more than anything; you are what I will miss. On the bright side, there’s a bunch of places to race this year. AMRA looks like they have a good schedule. And with the Manufacturer’s Cup Series and NHRA offering several new venues, there should be ample opportunities to race. Maybe there’s even an enterprising entrepreneur out there that would like to take up the reins of AHDRA and run with it! I am open to any and all possibilities. Legendary drag racer, Ray Price said, “AHDRA has been a great organization that’s been around for 35 years. It’s unfortunate that AHDRA is going away because we’ll be losing 35 years of wonderful racing history. It leaves a big void for a lot of racers.”

By: Judy Bortz Although it was cold on November 25th, it was sunny and a beautiful day for a ride. The Marine Corps Toys For Tots program is one of the most important rides for me, one I look forward to all year. Toys For Tots started in LA in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks USMCR and a small group of Marine Reservists collected and distributed 5,000 toys for needy children. It was such a success that the Marine Corp adopted Toys For Tots the next year, and it has been a part of their mission ever since. Since its conception the Marine Corp has collected and distributed over 452 million toys to needy children in America. The toys have given these children hope by showing them the joy of Christmas they wouldn’t have known otherwise. This run from Britt Motorsports in Wilmington, NC was a great one! Bikes started rolling in well before noon, and KSU was scheduled for 1PM sharp. Almost 200 bikes ran the parade with a New Hanover County Sherriff’s Department escort. I love escorted rides and I have never seen any escort troop do a better job than the New Hanover County Sherriff’s Department! It was actually kind of a kick, because we paraded past almost every mall in town, and all those shoppers had to wait until we got past! We rode the loop around town without a stop or interruption and back to Britt’s where we were treated to music by 40 East, a great local band, and Boston butt cooked up by Big Earl’s Backyard BBQ. They started the butts around 10PM Saturday night, and it was the best Bar-BQ I have ever had‌ever! The butts that didn’t get chopped went for sale. I am taking mine up north for Christmas Eve dinner to show some Yankees how it is done! I know, I was born there, but I got here as fast as I could!

Chili Cook-Off And Polar Bear Ride In
By: Kris Weiss As January days go, this was not one of the coldest ones we’ve ever had, but it did attract a lot of people for the Polar Bear Ride In and Chili Cook-Off at Ray Price HarleyDavidson in Raleigh, NC. The morning started off at about 28 degrees. For those early birds it was a bit nippy to be rolling down the road. As the day warmed up, the temperature rose to about 52º. Everyone who rode in got to spin the Nitro Prize Wheel. It was full of prizes such as a Free Detail, Heated Harley boots, gift cards, and other discounts. The clicking sound of the wheel was heard all day long with occasional cheers of someone winning the big prizes. Ray and Jean’s Chili Challenge brought in a dozen cooking warriors. Some of the names of the chilies that were entered were Slow Burn, Sneak Attack, and Redneck Surprise. The pots began to arrive as early as 8am and slowly simmered until the judging was opened up to the customers at High Noon. The inside racetrack
was packed with almost 500 people tasting and sampling the homemade creations throughout the day. The imagination of the competitors was talked about among the many judges. Some chili had sirloin in it and others had… who knows what. They were all hot, some spicy, and all very tasty. I noticed a line growing at the Pepsi fountain as the contest continued until the chili ran out somewhere around 1:15 PM. The final call for voting was announced and the cookers waited patiently as the votes were counted. Drum roll please… Third Place and a $25 Ray Price Gift Card went to Carole Netherton’s “Sneak Attack”. Second Place and a $50 Ray Price Gift Card went to Stan and Patti Simmerson’s “Patti’s Scotland Conquering Chili”. First Place and a $100 Ray Price Gift Card went to Ann Matthews’ “So Hot It Burns”. We all celebrated with a group picture and discussed the next cook-off on March 16th, The Brunswick Stew Cook-Off. Please visit RayPrice.com for all of the fun, future events!

Carriage House Apple Brandy North Carolina Has A Liquor To Call It’s Own
Being the first craft distiller in North Carolina gave Chris some challenges. Getting permitted was hard since nobody else was running a distillery and the government folks weren’t sure what to do. “The federal permit to make the liquor was tricky since you have to build the distillery first then file for your permit,” Chris said. “It takes a year from the time you file the permit to get actually get it. So we were a year in before we even knew if we could do this.” A prospective distiller has to be within 60 days of operation before they can file for a permit and then it takes a year to get approval. Chris was not allowed to start making brandy during that time. No testing, no nothing. The State ALE folks actually do the inspections and the feds just approve the permit. Chris met all their requirements and now bikers can From left: Tim Sisk, Keith Nordan, Jacqueline Delk, Chris Hollifield, and enjoy great local liquor. it is because the barrels are slightly different. Each bottle of Carriage House Apple Brandy has hand-written which barrel it came from on the label. The big national brands of liquor have a certain color and taste profile and blend many barrels to get exactly what they want. Carolina Distillery keeps it interesting. They also make Strawberry Infusion. “We take the white brandy from the still and age it on fresh strawberries instead of putting in barrels,” Chris said. “We take 200 gallons of liquor and put it on 400 pounds of strawberries. We let it age and it pulls the color and sugar from the strawberries. It is not artificially colored nor flavored, either.” I’ve always believed the fruit gives up flavor and color while taking in the harsh flavors from the liquor. They don’t squeeze the fruit to get out anything extra. Just take the liquor off the fruit, filter it and bottle. The strawberries go to a local farmer who feeds the fruit to his pigs. Those surely are some happy hogs. Carolina Distillery plans to sell straight white liquor soon and to make a peach brandy when in season. Their products are in most ABC stores throughout North Carolina; and in South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Massachusetts and Alaska. Soon bikers in Georgia and Florida can enjoy Carriage House Apple Brandy. Carolina Distillery has great plans for the future. Chris has moved the operation to a larger building, an old furniture store in downtown Lenoir built in 1938. The building is also home to Howard Brewing Company. They are remodeling the building to include bar and restaurant areas. By summer, Carolina Distillery should be a destination for riders to visit. While you are heading to or from the mountains on Highway 321, Carolina Distillery will be a cool place to stop for food and drinks.

26th Annual Randolph County CBA Toy Run
On December 2nd the 26th Annual Randolph Co CBA Toy Run started in the Dillard’s parking lot at the Randolph Mall in Asheboro, NC. This toy run benefits Mill’s Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville. What a beautiful day. It was perfect. There were approximately 2,000 bikes, the largest crowd ever! The riders brought a tractor-trailer full of toys, bikes, and gift cards! Along with the toys, $11,833 was donated. Everyone was so giving this year and all deserve a big “THANK YOU!” We invited representatives from the Mill’s Baptist Children’s Home to the Randolph County Concerned Bikers Association lodge on January 15th for the presentation of a check for $11,833. Chapter Treasurer, Junior Needham presented the check to Regina Keener while President Quincy Williams, Vice President Sonny York, Secretary Gena Parker and other members
posed for a picture. The Annual Randolph County CBA Toy Run is held the first Sunday in December, so plan to attend the 27th Annual on December 1, 2013.

By: dpapabear On Saturday night, December 15th, Easy Eddie’s in Huntersville had their annual Sexy Santa’s Helpers contest. The ladies dress in their sexiest attire for the chance to help Santa hand out goodies for the naughty and nice patrons in attendance. Santa arrived on a decked out scooter loaded with gifts ready to give out. But first, the sexily clad ladies had to strut and show their best moves to win Santa’s choice to be his helper for the evening. What some of the ladies did, well let’s just say it was a good thing that Santa had on a big red suit! After Dana was chosen the winner, she got to help Santa draw out tickets for an assorted array of gifts. Dana sure helped keep everyone’s interest focused on the stage. Check out the pics on line at FullThrottleMagazine.com and see what some of the winners received. They also had a 50/50 drawing and Brason came away with $168, a pretty good Christmas present, as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and the early Christmas celebration. Easy Eddie’s is a full service biker location at 12125 Statesville Rd. (Hwy 21) in Huntersville, NC and has something going on most weekends. They also have a bike shop as well as the lounge. Check them out on the web at: www.EasyEddiesMC.com. So stop by and visit Judy and the girls whenever you are in the area.

The Randall Law Firm, P.C.
By: Judy Bortz Sam Randall believes that there is more to being your lawyer than just knowing the law. To really help people you need to have life experience as well! It isn’t just about the injury, but also how that injury affects your family and quality of life. If you’re injured or in trouble with the law, you have ONE chance to get it right. Choose an attorney that is NOT a “typical” lawyer. Sam Randall is a biker, and as such knows how to defend you. Sam grew up in Charlotte, NC and was riding motorcycle by the time he was 13. After high school he joined the Navy and served as a hospital corpsman. He was attached to the Marines doing search and rescue and served in Desert Storm in 1991. After his tour ended he enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and graduated with a degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies. From there he went to California Western School of Law in San Diego, earned his degree in 1998, and came home to North Carolina to take his bar exam and establish his law firm. Eventually he decided to focus on criminal law, and became

a board certified specialist in criminal law in 2004. During the early years, Sam handled all sorts of cases, personal injury, accidents, fraud, general civil litigation, criminal defense, murder, drug, DWI, and conspiracy. In 2005, He moved to the island of Saipan and worked as Assistant Public Defender for two years. During his time on Saipan, Sam gained invaluable experience dealing with clients from all over the world. Back in Wilmington in 2007, he continued growing as a criminal defense attorney. Sam can practice before any State Court and any Federal District Court in North Carolina, the Western District of Tennessee, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. During the summer of 2012 Sam took a 6700-mile road trip on his 2012 Street Glide to Wyoming to attend The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer College. Along the way he saw some incredible sights from the saddle, Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Forrest, and Sturgis. The Trial Lawyers College, and the road trip gave him a new perspective on life and the practice of law and he decided it was time to bring his firm full circle. Now Sam and The Randall Law Firm, P.C. is handling civil and injury cases again, as well as criminal defense. He has the experience to tackle even the most complex cases, and will fight for you and your family when you can’t. If you’re injured or arrested on your bike or off, call the attorney who understands, and will stand with you throughout, to get you the best outcome possible. You can contact Sam to discuss your case toll free 855-228-0144, or locally at 910-399-1863. Mention Carolina’s Full Throttle Magazine for your free initial consultation. Hope For The Warriors Motorcycle By: Anne Woods Barnwell On Friday, December 7, 2012, the Warrior Hope and Care CenterTM officially opened aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility was built to meet the growing needs of combat wounded service members that are in recovery aboard the base. Highlighted in the lobby is a custom-built, custom painted, chopper. The bike was built by The Chopp Shop and donated by Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen. The chopper was built to honor those who will utilize the facility. The frame was made by Carolina Customs. The motor and transmission are both from Harley-Davidson. Worked into the theme of the motorcycle are hand grenades on the handlebars; a K-Bar and a Tailgunner® Exhaust along the side; 45-caliber bullets on the wheel spokes; and 50-caliber bullets on the down tube. The seat is covered with camouflage cloth - torn and worn to represent

the men and women who have worn the same fabric. The paint scheme is camo and includes a bald eagle and a vintage Hope For The Warriors® logo. The motorcycle was custom-built by Shannon Davidson from The Chopp Shop in Taylorsville, NC. In 2009, Carolina Thunder Charities donated the motorcycle to Hope For The Warriors®. The nonprofit has held on to this unique item until the Warrior Hope and Care CenterTM was ready to open. “We love all what this motorcycle symbolizes as it sits inside such a wonderful rehabilitation center,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® President said. “Each unique addition to this motorcycle reflects something special and unique about our service members.” Hope For The Warriors® was instrumental in getting the Warrior Hope and Care CenterTM built at Camp Lejeune. After visiting a new medical facility in San Antonio, Texas, the leaders of Hope For The Warriors® determined that Camp Lejeune needed the same quality facility. Architecture plans were drawn up for the facility and Hope For The Warriors® donated the plans to the Marine Corps. The mission of Hope For The Warriors® (www.HopeForTheWarriors.org) is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families. , 5,'(

By: Danny Hankins The photo attached is the presentation of a $500 check to Preacher Steve for the Southside Mission in High Point. Ken Neves is presenting the check from a very special vendor and the employees of KI-High Point (http://ki.com). The remainder of the people there are Employees and Bikers. KI manufactures innovative furniture and wall system solutions for education, healthcare, government and corporate markets. His Laboring Few biker ministry has been serving the meals for 19 years on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and now they serve a free hot meal every weekday from 4-6pm. Southside Mission located at 2113 S. Main Street in High Point, used to be Southside Tavern. Now instead of beer, local residents and the homeless are served a hot meal and offered drug and alcohol addiction services at The HLF Harvest Camp, plus personal
counseling. Preacher Steve said, “There are Lots of homeless camps in that area plus south High Point is a very needy area. KI’s donation is to help with the food need there and we are very thankful”.

NC WWII Hero Reunited With Lost Purple Heart
CPT. Zachariah Fike presents Don Hemphill with display of medals Story & Photos by: John Bircher On 20 Jan 2013, at 2 PM CPT Zachariah Fike, founder of Purple Hearts Reunited and Assistant Americanism Officer for the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), conducted a ceremony to return a lost Purple Heart medal to WWII veteran, CPL George D. Hemphill. He was assisted by The State Commander and Patriots from the North Carolina Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The ceremony took place at the Rutherfordton Community Center in Rutherfordton, NC. Corporal George D. Hemphill, was born on 2 November, 1922. He enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and served during WWII as an Infantryman in Company C, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division with service in Northern France and Germany. He was wounded on 11 September 1944 in France, when shrapnel from enemy Sniper Fire left him partially blinded for three weeks. He would later make a full recovery and was discharged on 12 March 1946. Later in his life, a gasoline tanker was hit by a train in 1954. Mr. Hemphill ran in and tried to retrieve the driver, but the gasoline exploded before he was successful. He spent more than a year in the hospital from the burns and retains the scars today, but his regret was he couldn’t get the driver out. Hero then, hero now, hero forever. Hemphill’s Purple Heart medal was discovered in 2000 by Mr. Bob Blum, also a veteran, in a Columbia, SC antique shop as he was killing time with his brother while waiting for a meeting. As they browsed the shop, he spotted the medal and paid the owner $70 for it, knowing that the medal didn’t belong there. Over the next few months, he tried to research and locate the original recipient with no luck. Then a close friend, Mr. Paul Marquis, himself a Purple
Heart recipient for wounds received in 1968 in Khe Sanh, Vietnam, read a story about CPT Zachariah Fike, an active duty member of the Vermont National Guard, who founded “Purple Hearts Reunited”. CPT Fike purchases or receives lost or stolen Purple Heart medals and locates the closest family member so that he can return the medal to them. After Marquis contacted Fike by email, he put Fike and Blum in touch and, together, they were finally able to track down the family of George Hemphill. According to the family, after Mr. Hemphill was wounded, he had sent the medal home to his mother, as he was afraid he was going to lose it. For some reason, the medal was lost in the mail and never arrived. Nor did Mr. Hemphill ever think to seek a replacement. Luckily, it turned up in 2000 in the hands of a patriotic veteran.
Mr. Bob Blum Returns Purple Heart he found in an antique shop to Mr. Hemphill For Fike, this was a very special ceremony for two reasons. This will be the first time he will be able to return a Purple Heart medal to a living Veteran. There is also a special twist to the story. Fike himself was wounded on the same day as Hemphill, 11 September 1944 for Hemphill and 2010 for Fike. Mr. Hemphill will not only receive his Purple Heart back, but Fike discovered that Mr. Hemphill had been awarded a Bronze Star that he was entitled to and never received. At this ceremony Hemphill also received a Combat Infantryman Badge, European African Middle Eastern Medal w/ 3 Combat Stars, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal, and Honorable Service Lapel Pin.

By: WildThing In case you are unaware, last year the EPA approved a new blend of fuel for motor vehicles that uses 15% ethanol. According to AAA, less than five percent of cars on the road are approved by automakers to use E15. Not only are consumers unaware of E15, but ethanol-laden gasoline is known to cause engine damage, and many manufacturers warn that using the product will invalidate warranties, so when the EPA approved E15 it raised concerns amongst motorcyclists, off-roaders, snowmobilers, boaters, and others who use vehicles and equipment driven by small gas-powered motors - none of which are approved for its use. Next a question came up regarding retail gas stations that would be dispensing the new fuel from blended pumps and the residual E15 in the hose hopefully would not adversely affect vehicles that could only tolerate E10 and lower. In response, the United States Environmental Protection Agency bureaucracy came up with a new regulation stating that consumers would be forced to purchase a minimum of 4 gallons in an attempt to dilute the E15 enough as to not cause a problem when the consumer chose E10 or less to pump in their tank. That Band-Aid didn’t work. The American Motorcyclist Association appealed to the EPA: “Not only do we find it unacceptable for the EPA to mandate that everyone, including our members, buy minimum amounts of gas, but the EPA answer simply won’t work because of the sizes of many motorcycle and ATV gas tanks and the fact that off-highway riders take containers of gas with them on their trips, and most times those containers are much smaller than four gallons,” Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations, wrote in a June 20 letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. Apparently realizing that a viable solution to the problem needs to be conceived, the EPA is now abandoning its fourgallon minimum on blender pumps that dispense both E10 and E15 from the same pump, and instead the government body says it will likely require gas stations to label shared pumps, as well as offer a dedicated E10 pump/hose for non-approved vehicles. (A new regulation to replace an unworkable regulation!) In a setback for the oil-and-gas industry that opposes the use of E15 and a federal biofuel-blending mandate, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has denied a rehearing on the EPA decision to mandate E15. The AMA has stated that: “No motorcycles or ATVs are currently on the list” of approved vehicles to use E15. NC CBA/ABATE Proposes Helmet Law Reform Bill
According to the NC CBA/ABATE 4th quarter newsletter, Legislative Coordinator, Thomas “Doc Ski” Wasileski plans to author a bill to affect helmet law reform in the North Carolina Legislature, which 1335 National Hwy. convened on January 30, 2013. Thomasville, NC The bill, to be introduced in February 2013, would ask the state to allow riders over 18 years of age with a $10,000 medical insurance policy to be allowed to chose whether they want to wear a helmet or not when riding on the highways of North Carolina. At the time of this writing, no bill had been written. There have been many changes in the Legislature that may signal the best chance for helmet law reform in quite some time. In November, the GOP made history by capturing the state House and the Senate. It is the first time the Repubwww. .com licans have held the state Senate since 1898. Pat McCrory (R) defeated Walter Dalton (D) in the governor’s race in the November 2012 election. Tues-Fri 9-6pm • Sat 9-4 • Closed Sun & Mon NC CBA/ABATE (CBA-ABATENC.

I know it is a Wednesday, but if you have any interest in changing the helmet law in NC to allow adults to chose what they think is the proper equipment for their activities, this is your chance to be heard. Get your a$$ to the Clarion Hotel at 320 Hillsborough Street and CBA staff there will get you all the information you need. They will also direct you to the right buildings so you can drop in and visit your legislators regarding motorcyclist rights/ issues. Your presence speaks volumes to the legislators, so make an effort to get there. Otherwise shut up about having to wear a helmet when you ride in NC. By: Rose So Christmas for 2012 is over, and a new year has begun. Last year in some ways was a very difficult year for me and many other people, I am sure. So, I just want to take a minute and reflect and say how very blessed I have been. In 2012 I was a part of several benefits, either by helping, sponsoring, or just doing videos. Through this we have met and made friends with some very special people, and of course we have received love and friendship from our friends in our riding club and on Facebook. FB is the way to talk to people you haven’t seen in years and the way to make and begin new friendships. This past year I ask for help to send my nephew to ROTC camp since his family could not afford it, and my friends came out in droves. At Christmas a young friend of my daughter was having trouble giving her 2-year-old daughter a Christmas. Again, I was amazed by my friends and the people I call family. So, I just want to personally thank a few people; first of all, Lloyd, for making me a part of his life and introducing me to the biker family. To all my friends and people I love to call family, you are amazing. To each and every biker that took time out of their life, and money out of their pocket to help with the benefits, the charities and the toy rides. I hope you all feel peace in your heart for what you have done. Next, I have to thank The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. They personally have helped me in my efforts. Mostly, they let me write the articles to inform people of the participation of so many good people. Mark and Molly, each time I see one of my articles in print it is a thrill, and Lincoln bless you heart for dealing with all my pictures. Most of all thank you for having a publication that will allow me, or anyone, truly, to thank God for all His blessing and the wonders He creates in each and every biker to open their hearts in a time of need. My blessings are so many with wonderful family, friends, and all the people I get the chance to meet. So, God bless you all in 2013, and we will be riding with you.

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!
I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 6-year-old granddaughter and I asked her, “What day is tomorrow?” She said, “It’s President’s Day!” She is a smart kid, so, I asked her, “What does President’s Day mean?” I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln, etc. She replied, “President’s Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment.” Tim decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend. One evening, after the honeymoon, he was assembling some loads for an upcoming hunt. His wife was standing there at the bench watching him. After a long period of silence she finally spoke. “Honey, I’ve been thinking, now that we are married I think it’s time you quit hunting, shooting, hand-loading, golfing, and fishing. And maybe you should sell your guns, boat & airplane as well.” Tim got a horrified look on his face. She says, “Darling, what’s wrong?” “There for a minute you were sounding like my ex-wife.” “Ex wife!” she screams, “I didn’t know you were married before!” “I wasn’t.
from the 50-yard line. He decides to make his way to the empty seat. As he sits down he asks the man next to him if anyone is sitting there. The man told him no, it was empty. John is very excited to have a seat like this at a Super Bowl and asks why in the world no one is using it? The man replied that it was his wife’s seat but she passed away. He said this was the first Super Bowl that they have not attended together since they were married in 1968. John said that it was really sad and asked if he couldn’t find someone, a relative or a close friend to take the seat? “No” replied the man, “They’re at her funeral!”
make a doctor appointment, person answering phone laughs uncontrollably. And the number one sign your company health plan has switched to Obamacare - Regardless of what’s wrong with you, you’re told to take two aspirin and call back in the morning. I stopped by the Chevrolet Dealership yesterday, for a look at the new 2013 Silverado, 3500 Dually Diesel pickup. Just for fun, I took it out for a test drive. I wanted to sense that new “feel” before they become extinct. The salesman (a black man wearing an Obama “change” lapel pin) sat in the passenger seat describing the truck and all its “wonderful” options. The seats were of particular interest. He explained that the seats directed warm air to your butt in the winter and directed cool air to your butt in the summer heat. Feeling like messing with him, I mentioned that this must be a Republican truck. Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I explained that if it were a Democrat truck, the seats would blow smoke up your ass all year round.

S E OK An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. St. Peter checks his dossier and says, “Ah, you’re an engineer — you’re in the wrong place.” So the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After a while, they’ve got air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is becoming a pretty popular guy. One day God calls Satan up on the telephone and asks with a sneer, “So, how’s it going down there in hell?” Satan replies, “Hey, things are going great. We’ve got air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators, and there’s no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next.” God replies, “What??? You’ve got an engineer? That’s a mistake — he should never have gotten down there; send him up here.” Satan says, “No way! I like having an engineer on the staff, and I’m keeping him.” God says, “Send him back up here or I’ll sue.” Satan laughs uproariously and answers, “Yeah right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?”

A French man nearly got away with stealing a number of paintings from the Louvre. However, after planning the robbery and getting in and out and past security, he was captured only three blocks away when his Econoline ran out of gas. When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he replied, “I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.”
An idiot decided to start a chicken farm, so he bought a hundred chickens to start. A month later, he returned to the dealer for another hundred chickens because all of the first lot had died. A month later he was back at the dealers for another hundred chickens for the second lot had also died. “But I think I know where I’m going wrong,” said the idiot. “I think I am planting them too deep.” John received a free ticket to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately. John’s seat was in the last row in the corner of the stadium. He was closer to the Goodyear Blimp than the stadium. He noticed an empty seat 10 rows up

Yesterday a blonde had a flat tire on the interstate. So she eased her car over to the shoulder of the road, carefully got out of the car and opened the trunk. She took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and stood them at the rear of her car facing oncoming traffic. They looked so lifelike you wouldn’t believe it! They are in trench coats, exposing their nude bodies and private parts to the approaching drivers. She started to change her tire, and to her surprise, cars started slowing down looking at her lifelike men. And of course, traffic started backing up. Everybody was tooting their horns and waving like crazy. It wasn’t long before a state trooper pulled up behind her. He got out of his car and started walking towards her. She could tell he was not a happy camper! “What’s going on here?” “My car has a flat tire,” she said calmly. “Well, what the hell are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the road?” She couldn’t believe that he didn’t know. So she told him, “Hello-o-o-oo-o, those are my emergency flashers!”

A blonde finds herself in serious trouble. Her business has gone bust and she’s in dire financial straits. She’s so desperate that she decides to ask God for help. She begins to pray, ‘God, please help me. I’ve lost my business and if I don’t get some money, I’m going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lottery!” Lottery night comes, and somebody else wins. She again prays, “God, please let me win the lottery! I’ve lost my business, my house and I’m going to lose my car as well.” Lottery night comes and she still has no luck. Once again, she prays, “My God, why have you forsaken me? I’ve lost my business, my house and my car. My children are starving. I don’t often ask You for help, and I’ve always been a good servant to you. PLEASE let me win the lottery just this one time so I can get my life back in order.” Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open. The blonde is overwhelmed by the Voice of God, Himself, “Sweetheart, work with Me on this. Buy a ticket!” Kinda funny huh? Kinda silly isn’t it? But in reality this sometimes pretty much summarizes our relationship with God. We tend to ask for help when we have serious trouble, when we can no longer “fix” things or “handle” things ourselves, when all of our plans have failed! Sad that we wait so late but even sadder we expect a quick fix! Sometimes it may seem God is not listening or for some
reason just will not help our situation. It may seem our prayers are useless or we are not good enough for Him; or He just doesn’t like me! These are all wrong assumptions but the truth is maybe He is waiting on us to “Buy a Ticket” like the little joke says. You see, we sometimes expect the quick fix from God without having any responsibilities of our own, without being accountable for our lifestyle or actions. God is not a “fixit man” or a “sugar daddy”, but He is a God of Love, Grace, and Mercy. A God of Forgiveness and Compassion, and a God of Truth! He does expect us to do our part in accepting His Free Gift of Salvation through His Son, Jesus! And then simply trying our best each day to live by His Word! Have you “bought your ticket” through Jesus Christ? Have you made Jesus Lord of Your Live? If not you can today. Pray the Biker’s Prayer on this page, mean it in your Heart as you pray it and begin trusting Him in all things! Now you are a Winner!
