ere we go y’all, you ready? April is here and so are the warmer temperatures we’ve been wishing for. Don’t get me wrong, there is no real down season in the Carolinas, but I prefer the longer days of the warmer riding weather and shedding the leather. Judging by the Cruisin’ Calendar (page 6-17) everyone else is ready to switch to full time riding, too. There is a TON of events going on in April and you won’t find a better list of events anywhere else on the East Coast. Seems like everyone thought that the weekend of April 13th was a good weekend for an event, there are 29 events listed for those two days! Among those events is Raging Bull H-D’s Bull City Bikefest in downtown Durham, the Congregation Vintage Bike and Car Show in Charlotte, Miles For Mutts in Burlington, Smoky Mountain Steel Horses Anniversary Celebration in Waynesville, NC, Thunder Tower H-D’s Customer Appreciation in Columbia, SC and a ton of other great rides, parties and other biker events. There’s so much going on that there is no way we can make it to all of the events. That’s where you come in. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine is looking for sales reps in YOUR area. You already know the local hangouts and go to the events…why not make some money while you are out and about! Give us a shout at 336-885-5400 to join the team. I hope that as you read this month’s issue, you enjoy the articles and features. We appreciate our motorcycle community and fans of the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine, this magazine is for you, about you and the cool stuff that bikers do in the community. Make sure that you check out the deals that our advertisers have come up with for YOU this month and when you stop by, tell ‘em you saw their ad in the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. They are the reason that we are able to give out the magazine for free every month since 1998. As always, we hope to see you out on two wheels enjoying the beauty of the Carolinas. Ride Hard!

14 Th Annual Spring Rally

By: Chi

I

t is that time of year when everyone is looking for spring

weather and nice bike rides. Hogs and Rags is no exception. The organization is hosting this year’s ride in honor and memory of Jerry Blackmon. Jerry was a founding member. He rode in the event each year. Helping and hosting for love of community and the opportunity to do something good. He is deeply missed! His efforts as one of the founding members of the event still resonates with each member. Hogs & Rags Spring Rally, April 27th, is part of the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival. The organization coordinates police escorted ride that takes you over 117 miles of North and South Carolina. Come join hundreds of others in a fun charity event; where you can meet, eat and cruise from Fayetteville, N.C. to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Hundreds of participants take part in this grand event. We are looking forward to your support in this year’s events. WE WANT YOU to join us in our Pre-Ride party and registration at Mac’s Speed Shop at 482 McPherson Church Road, Fayetteville. on Friday night April 26th from 6:30 to 9pm. And, of course the ride on April 27th! The event is sponsored by many and headlining as the premiere sponsor is Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson. Their sponsorship has been paramount in the organization’s efforts of Hogs and Rags and to raise funds for the local community of Fayetteville and the Cumberland County area. Many thanks go out to all those that have taken part and given to this event. It goes back to all the love of community that the annual event comes together; it is embraced with community strides to give back to those around us. Remembering the reasons why the

Hogs and Rags endeavor began 14 years ago! It is with honor and respect that we all support this community event that works to make an impact on “Our Neighborhood.” The Hogs and Rags Spring Rally is dedicated to supporting local charities and nonprofit organizations. They serve the local Fayetteville and Cumberland County community. They are listed as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This year’s fundraising efforts will support The American Cancer Society, the Special Forces Charitable Trust, and the Kidsville News Literacy and Education Foundation. The American Cancer Society’s website www.cancer.org focuses on research and treatment for those suffering with cancer. The diagnosis is always scary and overwhelming but they are here to help. The Special Forces Charitable Trust (SFCT), working as a 501(c)(3) charity to provide meaningful and sustainable support to the families of our Green Berets. SFCT supports timely, innovative and comprehensive programs and services designed to enhance the wellbeing and health of both soldiers’ and their families, SpecialForcesCharitableTrust.org The Kidsville News Literacy program, the nation’s fun family newspaper and education resource, that promotes education, reading, and good character traits in young children during their K-6 educational experience. Billy & Cindy Benefit By: Karen Hatchett aturday February 16, 2019 was a rainy, cold day, but also a heartwarming day of celebrating our friends, Billy Wrenn’s & Cindy Welborn’s recovery. Billy & Cindy were involved in a motorcycle accident on August 25, 2018. Billy suffered brain injuries, broken back, and a broken wrist. Cindy suffered several broken bones. Cindy, having 4 surgeries on her knee, and spending 18 days at Baptist Hospital, continued to take care of Billy and make sure he recovered from his injuries to the fullest. After 22 days in ICU and a total of 56 days in the hospital, Billy came back to us. Going to therapy and having 2 wrist surgeries, he bounced back and was released from the hospital (walking out on his own). He continues occupational therapy and hopes to return to work around March 18th, 2019. He is a walking miracle and prayers were answered. Both are on the road to full recovery and you will see them out riding this spring and summer. Cindy and Billy have been very involved in the biker community, volunteering and going over the top in helping raise funds for others in need. So, we all pulled together on February 16th to give back and help with medical bills and the many expenses as a result of the accident. Special thanks to Missie & Dave Thompson of Double D Burnout Saloon for always providing a great place for benefits, Niki Thompson, Mickey & Kandi Bice for doing an awe-

some job serving drinks, Ricky Young (aka Fatman) & Dennis Miller for cooking up some great ribs and BBQ, and to Daniel Love for providing great entertainment and rocking the house. So many pulled together on this day to help our Brother and Sister and a big thanks to all. Many thanks to Kim Deeple (aka Smiley) for selling 50/50, Samantha Winslow for selling raffle tickets, Jude Willets and Tabatha Garcia for selling food tickets. Many great auction items were donated, and we had some highly competitive bidding going on. The top auction item was a handmade bear Double Ds Burnout Saloon donated by Rita Morphis. $500 was the winning bid for the bear! Over $6,000 was raised to help Cindy and Billy in just a Text 1 few hours! Billy was not wearing a DOT helmet when the accident occurred, as a result, he suffered brain injuries. Billy and Cindy would like Textto2express the importance of wearing a DOT helmet. The difference can save a life as well as prevent additional injuries that could change one’s life forever.

Bulldog Tips 5 Tips To Be More Visible At Intersections ntersections are one of the most dangerous spots on the road

for bikers. The reason drivers collide with motorcycles is because they either don’t see us or they misjudge our approach speed or distance. Here are some tips from Motorcyclist magazine to help you become more visible at intersections. 1. DON’T HIDE. Select lane positions that put you in open view so drivers can see you. This means not tailgating the car or truck in front and riding in the left or right portion of your lane to make sure drivers waiting to turn into or across your lane can clearly see you. 2. MOVE WITHIN YOUR LANE. Even if you are in plain sight, don’t assume drivers see you. People see what they expect to see, and a motorcycle may not register in their consciousness, even if they are looking at you. Another reason drivers can look at you but not “see” you is because of “motion-induced blindness” where stationary objects disappear when surrounded by a moving background, such as busy traffic. Realize that you appear stationary if you approach a driver straight on. Even if drivers do see you, they may not be able to accurately judge closing speed and approach distance because of your bike’s relatively narrow frontal area. One trick is to move across your lane as you approach drivers at intersections to visually “present” the broader side area of your bike. For a more dramatic display, weave back and forth in your lane to “sweep” your headlight across drivers’ field of view. This is sometimes referred to as “waving” to traffic. You don’t need to go crazy; swerving a few feet left and right a couple of times should do the trick. And weave only if it’s safe to do so.

3. BE BRIGHT. It’s smart to wear brightly colored riding gear that gets attention and separates you from the busy background. This includes wearing a light-colored helmet and jacket or vest, as well as putting reflective material on your bike and riding gear for being seen in low light situations. 4. DON’T RELY ON NOISE. While loud pipes get attention, sound is not reliable for telling drivers exactly where you are. Not only that, but loud pipes direct most of the exhaust noise rearward rather than forward where the majority of dangers materialize. Selective use of an aftermarket horn is as effective and a lot less annoying to others.

Text 2

5. BE READY. Even after using these measures you will likely encounter drivers who invade your right of way. Being mentally ready makes you more likely to approach cautiously and respond skillfully when someone cuts you off. Being ready means actively looking for trouble, slowing down and covering your brakes before approaching intersections even when everything looks to be in order.

Cleveland County CBA Spaghetti Dinner By Wally Wersching n February 22nd at 6:00PM, the Cleveland County Concerned Bikers Association (CBA) held their “All You Can Eat” Spaghetti Dinner at the Shelby VFW hall. It consisted of spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, bread, cake dessert, and sweet tea – all for only $8.00. That’s why there were so many people eating when I arrived at about 6:15. I brought a stack of Full Throttle magazines to share, and put them on the table with the other free stuff. Many old friends were there. After I greeted them, I paid the $8.00, and started down the food line. The women behind the table were very friendly, and all smiles as they doled out the food. I received a plastic plate full of spaghetti and meat sauce. The sauce was filled with chunks of meat and tomatoes. It really looked good. On the way to the table, I grabbed a piece of bread to go with it. I sat with a couple of Windjammers, and started to devour the great looking food. I wasn’t disappointed. It was hot and delicious – just right! After I finished, we talked for a while. Then I went back for a second plate of spaghetti. It was still delicious. We talked some more, and then I got some sweet tea, and walked around to visit with some friends who came in while I was eating.

O

Then I walked back to the cake table, and got a piece of cake individually wrapped in a sandwich bag. I don’t know who baked the cake. It was delicious too! It was a very cordial event - people eating good food with good friends. I hope that they raised enough money to support their endeavors protecting our rights as motorcyclists. They are a dedicated group of bikers.

CMA Diaper Run

By Wally Wersching n Saturday February 16th, I awoke, ate breakfast, and checked the weather. I was invited to participate in the “Warriors for Christ” chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association’s (CMA) Diaper Run in Gaffney, SC later in the morning. The diapers would be dropped off to the Cherokee Pregnancy Center in Gaffney. I went on both Diaper Runs last year (spring and fall), and thoroughly enjoyed them. I met some old friends, and made a few new ones too. The invitation said to meet at the Pilot gas station in Gaffney at about 10:30AM. The kickstands would be up at 11:00AM for the ride to the center. There also was a mention of a fifty-mile ride afterwards if the weather was good enough for a comfortable ride with a lunch stop afterwards. It had rained all night, and the roads were still wet. There

was a heavy mist or slight drizzle, so I didn’t ride “Miss Vickie”, I drove the little Miata. I took the back roads, and had the wipers on all the way until I crossed the interstate (I85). It wasn’t a heavy rain but if I would have ridden the bike, I would have been soaked. I was glad that I drove the car. When I arrived, I parked along the back of the lot. After a few minutes, a couple bikes rolled in. We started talking, and I gave them a couple magazines. As we talked, more and more bikers rode in, and parked. Some went inside to get breakfast but most just stood around sharing their adventures. Most were members of the CMA from chapters in the area but there were also people from other Biker Ministries, and there were a few like me that were not affiliated with any organization. Most of the bikes

Continued From Page #24 had diaper boxes strapped on the back which looked different. The brightly colored diaper boxes clashed with the black biker image. Roger, an old friend, and member of the “Warriors for Christ” chapter arrived. His truck was loaded with diapers which included donations from people who couldn’t make the run. His wife, Carolyn, hurt her ankle at work, and it still hasn’t healed completely. She’s doing well considering. Maybe next time, she’ll be riding her trike again. “Squid”, a Navy veteran, rode in. I gave him a couple magazines too. He was also on a Destroyer but much newer than the WWII one I was on. It was interesting to talk with someone who went through similar experiences. After a few minutes, a group of bikes roared in, and parked. As the bikers got off their bikes, many were greeted by old friends with handshakes, and hugs. The wind was brisk and cold as we stood in the lot waiting for 11:00 to come. We were then asked to join around for the prayer - after which, the Road Captain took over, and described the route we would take to the center. It was only a few miles to the center. I stayed in the rear of the group. Within a few minutes we were rolling in the lot next to the center. After we all parked, we were invited to bring the diapers into the building. Three of the ladies who worked at the center welcomed us as we put our diapers on the large table. When we were through, the table was full of diapers, and other things a baby might need.

There were too many of us for a single photo taken with a cell phone, so she took a panoramic video instead. It gave all of us a very warm feeling that we could help babies, and their mothers especially when Donna showed us a picture of a baby born a few months ago that wouldn’t have been born if it weren’t for the ladies at the Center. We all prayed for the mothers, and the ladies prayed for us. It was a very moving moment. Then a biker turned preacher read a poem that he had written about how a baby might feel – never being born. It mentioned all the things it wouldn’t be able to do as it grew up. It was very moving, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. As I was leaving, they were talking about riding up to North Carolina - to Lake Lure for lunch. It would be a nice ride if the weather stayed dry, but the clouds to the north were very dark. I hope they made it OK. After saying good-by, I headed back home. When I arrived, I talked Cindy into going out to the Italian Garden restaurant in Boiling Springs, NC for a delicious lunch. It was a great way to enjoy a Saturday – helping people less fortunate.

OEM TIRES, COMPUTER BALANCING, OIL, PLUGS, FILTERS, STARTERS, REGULATORS, GASKETS & FILTERS 309 East 2nd St. THE BEST On The Lumberton NC AST 910-739-5211 EAST CO By: Jody and Pam Shotwell he day had come, March 2nd, for the annual Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson / Freedom Biker Church Chili Cook-off. It was a beautiful sunshiny day with the temperature in the low 60’s by the start of the chili tasting extravaganza. There were thirteen chili cooking teams in place, each had their secret ingredients cooked and tweaked all night long. Each team was ready to serve their best chili: California Taco, Sweet Southern Heat, Rootin Tootin Chili, Jailhouse Chili, In a Rush, The Thin Blue Line, Killer Man Sons (spicy and not spicy), The Dang Gang, The Peppered Chef, IMBC Faith Riders, Us Two, and Broken Chains. D.J. Scott James was blasting some great tunes while well over 200 taste testing judges were sampling some of Cumberland County’s finest chili. On the other end of the line, was the Freedom Biker Church Iron Angels dessert table with homemade cakes, fudge, brownies, and cookies. No one could resist chili and desserts. When all the taste testing was done,

T

each judge got to vote on their “favorite chili” from the thirteen chili cookers and the winners were announced. The 2019 Champion was Grace Hulon’s team, “Broken Chains.” They received the First Place Trophy, a $100 H-D gift card and $100 cash. Gary Baxley and Amanda’s team, “The Thin Blue Line” representing Fayetteville’s finest, got the Second Place Trophy, a $50 H-D gift card and $50 cash. The Fayetteville HOG Chapter was represented by David Morton’s team “Sweet Southern Heat.” They earned the Third Place Trophy, a $25 H-D gift card and $25 cash. In addition to the “Best Chili” trophies, there were three other awards. “I Ate What?” Medallion went to Gary Baxley and Amanda’s team, “The Thin Blue Line” for the most unique chili. Defending his last year’s title for the hottest chili, the “Backfire Chili” Medallion went to Justin Gingrich’s team Killer Man Sons. The “Easy Rider Chili” Medallion went to Grace Hulon’s team, Broken Chains for the mildest chili. All the teams were uniquely deco-

rated. The “Best of Show” trophy, a $25 H-D gift card and $25 cash went to Bobby Bridges’ team, Jailhouse Chili. Their tent was like a jailhouse where judges could have their picture taken. Each team member had a number on their jumpsuit that represented something in the Bible, like BB66 meant 66 Books in the Bible, R323 referred to Romans 3:23. In closing remarks, Bill Johnson, associate pastor of Freedom Biker Church - Fayetteville thanked Fort Bragg HarleyDavidson for donations and for hosting the event. He also thanked all the participating judges, as well as all the chili cookers that came out for the event. Mark your calendars to join us each year on the first Saturday in March to be a contestant or a judge! If you’re in the Fayetteville area, drop in and check us out at Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville, located at 455 Rock Hill Road. Hang-out time is 10:00 every Sunday morning with the band and worship service starting at 10:45. Check us out at www.FreedomBikerChurchFayetteville.com.

Vet’s WheelCharrier Reached Raging Bull By: Ed Cleary n Saturday March 9th, the American Legion, Post 7, Durham, delivered a wheelchair to Raging Bull Harley-Davidson. The American Legion, in partnership with the WheelCharrior Program, is on a mission to deliver a wheelchair to every Harley dealership in the United States. The delivery to Raging Bull was the twentieth of twenty-five to be delivered in North Carolina and roughly the three hundredth nationwide. The WheelCharrior Program was started by Lt. Dan Holman. Lt. Dan, as Holman is affectionately known, is a US Army veteran who lost both of his legs in the service of his country. As a Harley rider, Dan refused to let his disability come between him and the freedom of the open road, so he now rides a trike with hand controls, giving him all the freedom he could want. Getting around off the bike is another matter. Dan must rely on one prostatic leg and a pair of crutches. During a visit to his local Harley dealer for service, Dan had to navigate over 900 feet from the service bay to the customer waiting area and back again, relying only on crutches and the

O

prostatic to get him there. “One drop of sweat on that slick showroom floor and I’d go down,” said Dan during a recent telephone interview. Dan asked the dealership if they had a wheelchair he could use and when he learned they did not, he Continued On Page #34

took it upon himself to get them one. “It’s not just for me but for everyone like me who might benefit from it,” said Dan. This incident was the genesis for the “WheelCharrior” program. WheelCharrior Program is the name Dan came up with for his “Wheel Chairs for Harley” program. The goal of WheelCharrior is to support the needs of the handicapped riders of America, by supplying and making available a wheelchair for every Harley-Davidson Dealership in America. Lt. Dan said that Harley dealerships are only the beginning. Once they have put a chair in every one, they intend to go to work on getting chairs into every public place frequented by motorcyclists. As soon as Lt. Dan launched the program, other organizations and companies quickly stepped forward to assist, including the American Legion, the Veterans Transition Resource Center (VTRC), the Marine Corps League, and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA). For more information on the WheelCharrior Program, and to learn how you can help please contact Daniel (Lt Dan) Holman at hungrygator@outlook.com, (702) 416-6396.

Everybody Rides At Carolina V-Twin By: Johnny Reb ommy at Carolina VTwin has a motto, “Everybody rides because Tommy says yes!”, the meaning behind this is, life can throw you a curve ball and your credit score can reflect this. So, you want to trade in your old scoot but think you can’t, just cruise on down to Carolina V-Twin and rap with Tommy. He is an old school biker and won’t pull punches, but you can bet you also won’t get a line of bull either. He works with 15 lenders and when he says everybody rides, he means it. He told me without disclosing anyone’s personal information that he got some folks financed with scores in the 300’s. Now onto the showroom, there are rows of beautiful late model used bikes sitting pretty for you to choose from. Do you want something different from the average Harley; well, how

about an Indian or Victory. So, that’s not it? Tommy has Triumphs, and bikes from Japan. OK, still something else? Trikes and Can-Am Spyders, Polaris Sling shots. So, you get my drift, he has just about anything your warped little minds can come up with! Still too mainstream for ya? Outside the conventional box comes the Zero electric bike. Been waiting for the motor company’s latest electric bike to hit their stores? Well dig this, Carolina VTwin is an authorized dealer for Zero electric bikes. The company is out of California and started in 2006. They have the most torque than the most powerful 1000cc sport bike made today. The bikes are sport bikes for sure but also, they have the Zero FX, which is an enduro styled bike. Here is the real kicker, they are $10,000 cheaper than what HD is offering later this year. Now ol’ Johnny Reb

isn’t into the whole electric thing, but if I was, I sure as hell would look at Zero, less expensive and made here in the good old USA. So, with over 50 used bikes of various brands and styles and new Zero bikes, you can find what you want at very competitive prices. The store also has riding gear from helmets and gloves to those chrome do dads ya just got to have. Tommy has really made this a great place to visit. The staff is really helpful, and the shop out back is top notch. It’s more like the motorcycle shops used to be, less boutique and more bikes. Kind of how it should be, right? Come on out to 1924 North Memorial Drive in Greenville NC and check them out. I’m going to close out with a big thanks to Tommy and Carolina V-Twin for coming on board to the best magazine in the Carolinas, Full Throttle Magazine. Johnny Reb Out

ticipate in an in-store Poker Run! 46 people joined in the fun and why wouldn’t they with a grand prize of $200! The bike care kit alone was a killer prize! By 12:30, the place was jumping, and you could see everyone comparing their poker hands as they made their way to each station. There was also a full Riding Academy class just letting out for a break. It was a great thing to see the 12 students come and join right in. There were people at every level enjoying the best place to stop on the weekend while you’re out riding: Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson! You know that there is something always happening there on the weekend. This weekend the big draw was the bike blessing led by Tom Lyons. Tom opened up the bike blessing about 1 hour into the event with a group blessing, giving prayers for riders headed out to Daytona Bike Week for safe travels and to everyone for this riding season. Once the general blessing was over each rider was given a commemorative patch adorned with Thunder Tower twin T’s Logo with the words “ March 2019 - This Bike Was Blessed at Thunder Tower” as a thank you for coming out. As riders came in late, or any riders that requested an individual blessing, Tom had patches ready and blessed each bike! Safe travels prayers for all. While the drawing for prizes was going on inside, you could find riders outside enjoying music, hopping on the jumpstart, test rides heading out, while enjoying the amazing food from the Arepa Chef Food Truck. Upstairs in the HOG room, the Kings of the South meeting was being held to plan some of the details for their big Kings of the South event at Thunder Tower on April 27th. Last year was huge and this year is sure to ring true again! Just a constant flow of people buzzing through the getting hyped up for a great riding season. All the while the poker run was still in full swing! The event was slated to end around 3pm, but there was a constant coming and going of riders all day long. Shriners Chili Cookoff At Smokin’ Harley-Davidson By Caroline can’t think of a better event last February 23, than some of the area’s best chili chefs competing for a great cause. It was cold and rainy but the food and Smokin’ HarleyDavidson was warm and inviting! Even with a lot of chili entries, folks loved “tasting” it over and over again! Myself included, so that picking a sure winner was really hard. Finally, though, it was time to announce the winners and a good thing as just about all the chili was gone. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson’s general manager, Ray Perry, announced the following winners and handed out the prize money--1. Casey Lamb $100 2. Craig and John, $50 and 3. Matt and Steve $25 with the special people’s choice award going to Shannon from McGrath Motorcycle Law Firm. The special thing that happened with this event, was all the prize money was donated back for the Shriners Hospital for Children. The Shriners are truly great sponsors for their children’s hospitals that have facilities all over the United States and Internationally. Founded in 1922, they have provided billions of dollars in free medical care for children. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson has become a great partner to the Shriners providing support and hosting fun events like this Chili Cookoff. I am sure that there will be more events to come like

The Crow Bar Got Ambushed By: Rick Gammons ast Saturday night was something else! It was cold and wet, not a good night to be out and about. But, The Tipsy Crow Bar in High Point had booked Tim Sealey and The Ambush Band, so Peggy made plans to go there. The parking area was full, so we had to park across the street. Being cold made Peggy hurry to get inside....me too. Oh yeah, much better inside. Most of the regular crowd was already there, so greetings were as expected. The Crow Bar is not the largest venue I have been in, but even with the band inside, there was enough room for dancing. The Ambush Band started at 7 pm with “Pink Cadillac” as their opener. Good choice! This band is spot on. They have a crossover style of country, country rock with a smidge of the blues. This kind of music appeals to almost everyone. If you have not heard them, you are missing a special musical treat. This was not the first time the Crow Bar has had The Ambush Band, they were also there in December. Davis had picked a great band for The Crow Bar and most everyone in attendance Saturday night had seen the band before or, at least,

L

heard of them and the party was on! Tim Sealey and The Ambush Band is from Wilkesboro, NC and they play North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. They have been in this area so much lately, I told Tim that they should just move down to the High Point area. Doubt that will happen, but I do expect them to be playing in this area for quite a while. Drop in at The Tipsy Crow Bar and check with Davis as to what he’s got going on next! Join the crowd at The Crow, 215 Berkley St., High Point, NC.

I just received an audit on my tax return for 2018 from the IRS. It puzzles me! They are questioning how many dependents I claimed. I guess it was because of my response to the question: ‘List all dependents?’ I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads; 42 million unemployed people on food stamps, 2 million people in over 243 prisons; half of Mexico; and 535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate. Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer. I keep asking myself, “Who the heck did I miss?” A police recruit was asked during the exam, “What would you do if you had to arrest your own mother?” He answered, “Call for backup.” Three blondes died and found themselves standing before St. Peter. He told them that before they could enter the Kingdom of Heaven, they had to tell him what Easter was. The first blonde said, “Easter is the holiday where they have a big feast, give thanks and eat turkey.” St. Peter rolled his eyes, said, “Blondes,” and banished her to Hell. The second blonde said, “Easter is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus and exchange gifts.” St. Peter said, “Wrong,” and he banished her to Hell. St. Peter looked at the third blonde and said, “OK ... tell me.” She said, “Easter is a Christian holiday that coincides with the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus was having Passover feast with His disciples when he was betrayed by Judas, and the Romans arrested him. The Romans hung Him on the cross and eventually He died. Then they buried Him in a tomb behind a very large boulder.” St. Peter was impressed. “Verrrrry good,” he said. The blonde continued, “Now every year, they roll away the boulder, and Jesus comes out. If he sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of basketball.” St. Peter fainted.

Robert Earl Keene, it’s called “The Road Goes On Forever and The Party Never Ends”. That song could have been written about one of my favorite watering holes, The Ole Breeze Nightclub. Cheryl sure knows how to throw a party. Her latest idea was called, “F” You Valentine’s Day Party”. I called some friends to meet at the Ole Breeze on 16 Feb, and Blade, Mama Pat, and Two Tone all showed up to help Cheryl and all the awesome people of The Ole Breeze celebrate hating Valentine’s Day. I was the first to arrive and DJ Harley had the place jumping and jiving to some great music. The great thing about DJ Harley is, she plays everything from classic country to new rock. She seems to read the crowd and responds accordingly. She had a really cool contest, she would play a song and you had to name the movie it was in. Around 2, the band took the stage over, their name is The BSides. They were great, they started their set with Tulsa Time. A great old Don Williams tune that got people up and dancing. They had a really great stage presence and had the crowd out of their seats. A $10.00 cover charge got you all this fantastic entertainment and a plate of food. The food was frigging delicious! A thick grilled pork chop, taters, and green beans. It was definitely a bargain. We partied and had a helluva great time. What I love about The Ole Breeze is, you don’t have to know a soul in there, all you need is to have a good attitude. No drama, and no bull. You will meet some of the warmest and friendliest folks you will ever want to meet. They love bikers, and Cheryl tells me that she has some big plans this summer, that will definitely be biker friendly. Hell, Cheryl is a biker, so she knows what we want in a bar. I’m gonna close with, if some of our faithful Full Throttle Magazine readers want to have a destination to ride to, believe me, ride on out to The Ole Breeze on Rte. 301 in Elm City. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you tell ‘em that Johnny Reb from Full Throttle Magazine sent you. Johnny Reb Out ne of my favorite songs is by

Church to show off. It’s not about the Easter Bunny or colored eggs. Just remember eggs rot and rabbits die, but Jesus Christ lives forever. For some, that may be enough ‘cause it got you to Church probably the first time since Christmas and you got a good meal and quality time with family. Let me tell you the real meaning of Easter. Matthew 27: 32-54. 32 “Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His Cross. 33- And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of Skull. 34- they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink. 35- Then they crucified Him, and divided His garment, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet. 36- Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. 37- And they put over His head the accusation written against Him: This is Jesus the king of the Jews. 38- Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left. 39- And those that passed by blasphemed Him wagging their heads. 40- and saying, ‘You who destroyed the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross’. 41- Likewise the chief priest also mocking with the scribes and elders, said. 42‘He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King aster in not about getting a new outfit and going to

of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. 43- He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, I am the Son of God’. 44Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing. 45- Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46- And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, Eli, Eli, Iama, sabachthani? That is: ‘My God, My God why have You forsaken Me?’ 47- Some of those who stood there, when they heard that said, This Man is calling for Elijah. 48- Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink. 49The rest said Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him. 50- And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up His spirit. 51- Then behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to bottom: and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split. 52- and the graves were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53- and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54- So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly saying, Truly this was the Son of God. 63- saying, Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said ‘After three days I will rise’.” Matthew 28: 2 “And behold,

Here in the good ole USA, one woman rider, Karen Collins of Charleston SC, set out to promote fellowship and support for all women riders by starting cross country rides to raise awareness in 2013. I have had the pleasure of meeting Karen and reporting on her rides the past two years, (see The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine issue 230 September 2017 and issue 242 September 2018). Besides attracting women riders to accompany her, Karen has made it her mission to turn the rides into fundraisers for veteran causes, as the articles in these two issues report, with 100% of the funds raised going to the cause espoused. This year will be a little different. The year 2019 is the year that all women riders will come together, as one, and we will set the record for the most women riding on motorcycles in one event! All women riders are welcome to come join in, no matter

what type of motorcycle you ride. It’s about supporting and encouraging each other while breaking a worlds record! The gathering point will be Topeka, KS, June 13-15. “The Women’s Freedom Ride is proud to announce that we will have Ride Captains that will be starting close to the 4 corners of the USA, Florida, Arizona, Utah, and Pennsylvania. We will also have Ride Captains starting in the central N, E, S, and W areas, Las Vegas NV, Louisiana, Charlotte NC, Sioux Falls SD . . . all coming together to ride into the center of the USA, Topeka Kansas! We are setting up the support areas where riders can join in, like Bumpus HD in Murfreesboro TN, and HD World in Oklahoma City!” This event is to promote, encourage, and show support for all women riders, regardless of the brand name of their ride. All women are welcome to join in at any point, whether for a few hours, or a few days.
(Sorry, guys, no gentlemen.) You can join in and ride with the Women’s Freedom Riders, as they cross the country, or you can ride in on your own. There will have events, vendors, music, and so much more! Something for everyone!! Please make plans now to come together with other with other female motorcyclists and let’s break that record! *Must have signed waivers before joining the ride** Check out www.WomensFreedomRide.org for tickets, rally routes, hotels, and more information.

The Riding High Harley-Davidson Bar

Greensboro coliseum just got a little bit cooler! The Riding High Harley-Davidson® Bar, located on the Greensboro Coliseum lower level concourse (Section 120), will make any rider or motorcycle aficionado feel at home. It’s styled with Harley-Davidson appeal and even features some décor from the old Harley-Davidson of Greensboro dealership. The bar is fully stocked to make your concert going experience as enjoyable as possible. But that’s not all! The Riding High Harley-Davidson bar has its own concert viewing area! So, you can pull up a HarleyDavidson Bar Stool and get a front row balcony seat! No extra ticket is needed for you to enjoy the show from the Riding High Harley-Davidson bar, so you can buy nose oing to concerts at the

bleed tickets, upgrade to the bar seating, and hang out close to the bar and the bathroom. The concert viewing area is of course first come, first served, but it’s at the bar so it’s the logical next step after tailgating! “Partnering with the Greensboro Coliseum allows us to engage with the community in an environment that promotes freedom and self-expression,” said Mark Wheelihan, owner of Riding High-Harley Davidson. “Serving the Triad for over 20 years has been an honor and we look forward to being a part of Greensboro’s future.” The grand opening of the Riding High HarleyDavidson® Bar was Friday, March 15, with a highly-anticipated Eric Church concert. Riding High Harley-Davidson® was onsite with motorcycles inside the coliseum and on the ramp from the parking lot. They were signing up folks to win a Riding Academy Course, all while concert goers took turns sitting on the sweet black Softail Deluxe they had on display. Next time you are taking in a show or event at the Greensboro Coliseum, make sure you stop by the Riding High Harley-Davidson Bar and grab a drink or take in the sights! Thanks to Mark Wheelihan and Riding High Harley-Davidson for giving us a biker bar at the coliseum!

Help End Motorcycle Profiling

T

Motorcycle Riders Foundation(MRF) is working with the State Motorcycle Rights Organizations (SMRO), the National Council of Clubs (NCOC), the Motorcycle Profiling Project (MPP) and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) to call on our elected officials to end unconstitutional profiling of motorcyclists across our country. If your member of Congress has signed on, you can still ask them to lean on their colleagues to support these resolutions. In December 2018, the United States Senate passed the same resolution with unanimous consent. We want to encourage the U.S. House of Representatives to join their colleagues in admonishing the unfair practice of targeting motorcyclists across the country. TAKE ACTION NOW: Tell the U.S. House of Representatives that pulling over a motorcyclist because of his clothes, cut or bike is discriminatory and needs public attention. he

GO TO: https://mrf.org/federal-legislative-issues/ click on “take action and enter your zip code to find out who represents you in the US House of Representatives. There is a prewritten letter there. Ask your representative to co-sponsor House Resolution 255. It is easy. Just Do it.

By Wally Wersching aley and Clint Franklin are the driving force behind the Cleveland 1335 National Hwy. Thomasville, NC County chapter of the North Carolina Concerned Bikers Association. Last year, the chapter won the coveted 2018 Chapter of the Year Award. They are working hard to make a difference – and it shows. I have attended a few of the local CBA events, and have met a lot of friendly people. The CBA is dedicated to motorcyclist’s rights while improving the biker image. The more members they have, the more influence they have with our legislators in Raleigh, so they are always trying to recruit new members. The annual membership dues are only $20.00 which is www.MidwayYamahaSuzuki.com really cheap for what they are providing. A few lifetimes ago, I was the Harley336-885-5796 Davidson Volunteer Safety Coordinator for the Carolinas. I was given a lot of safety 336-885-5677 information to pass on to the HOG chapters’ Sun-Mon: Closed, Tues-Fri 9-6, Sat 9-2 members. I was also an MSF RiderCoach during that time. I haven’t used any of the info for quite a while, so I decided to give it all to Clint to be used in the CBA. There were many latest.webp DVDs and books that he might want to share Friday, Feb. 15 1284 S. HWY 11 WALHALLA, SC at a meeting or with other CBA chapters. I’m sure that he will find a use for them. He moved to Swannanoa, and I only stopped by a couple times since he moved. I normally don’t travel in that area. At exactly 1:00PM, the meeting started with a prayer. Then we all faced the flag, and recited the “Pledge of Allegiance”. It had been a long time since I recited it, but I’ll never forget those words. Afterward, we all sat, and Clint and Haley took over. The meeting was very organized. They talked about upcoming events to raise money, and recruit members. They have things like an “All you Can Eat” Spaghetti Dinner, at the VFW Hall, a Membership Drive and Swap Meet at Joker Powersports in Blacksburg, SC, and an Annual Chili Cook-off at the VFW Hall. There is always something going on. At about 2:00PM, the meeting was over. We stood around talking for a few minutes before we all left. It was a very pleasant experience that I will have to enjoy again.
