an! Was July ever hot! No matter where in the Carolinas you live, it has been HOT. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Summer, but there have been days recently that have been tough on an old fat guy like me. In weather like this, I prefer to ride early in the morning or late in the evening. Some how, we survived the RNC and the DNC and all the crap that goes with political conventions. Everyone seemed to be blowing one horn or another promoting their favorite candidate. I do not put too much stock in anything that the candidates or pundits say, but I, too have a horn to blow. This month The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine celebrates 18 years of documenting the history of the motorcycle community in the Carolinas. With issue #217 we begin our 19th year in this capacity. We have printed and distributed over 4.5 MILLION (4,500,000) copies! No telling how many events, ads, stories, and pictures that encompasses, but it is a bunch. I am very proud of this accomplishment, but I cannot take all the credit for The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine’s success. We have a great staff. Many have been with us 10 years or more and many more have been with us for 5 or more years. There are some newer faces in that mix, too and we owe all of them a tip of the hat for all that they do every month to make it happen. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine came into existence when the time was right and the advertisers got on board and supported us all these years. We all know that without them there would never have been an issue #1. Today, we are grateful to all those business owners who placed their confidence in us then as well as today. Many of them have become friends over the years and that adds to the value of having their support. You, the readers, are an important component in the circle of life of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. Without you and your support of the advertisers and events published on our pages, we would not exist. We humbly thank you for your support. Smoke Out 17 At The Rock Story and Photos by Alan Dockery What a great Smoke Out we enjoyed this year. The weather was the best it has been in a while and the rally at Rockingham Dragway, NC, is always the coolest on the East Coast. Sponsored by The Horse Backstreet Choppers Magazine, gates to the Smoke Out open Friday at noon. The campground had been slowly filing for a couple days with bikers ready to party. With so much to see and do, I suggest a slow pass through the vendors and exhibitors. See who and what is there, who you want to come back and talk to more, start thinking about what you need to buy. Stop at the Smoke Out Info Booth for a T-shirt and couple schedules. I tell folks I sometimes feel like I miss more there than I see. Edge, Smoke Out Promoter, does a great job putting together a complete event. Keep that schedule handy because there are things going on all over the property. You can hang with the vendors and exhibitors in the shade or head to the dragstrip. His event staff folks were everywhere to answer your questions. Soon after the gates opened it got loud. Choppers, bobbers, street bikes, dressers, race bikes, and whatevers lined up to race down the famous Rockingham strip. Yeah for a couple hours it was 50’s Style Grudge Match Drag Racing with a pretty girl dropping the rag as you challenge your buddies to see just how quick they really are. GrimCo Stunts put on a few shows during the weekend. These guys are a primo Harley-Davidson only motorcycle stunt team from the Northeast. Yes, stunts – wheelies, rolling burnouts, technical tricks – performed on Harley Dynas. There was racing all over the pit area with minibikes and drift trikes sliding and crashing around their track layout. Edge has cool bands and acts for the Smoke Out. If you

were hanging back at the main stage in the shade you were either entertained or grossed out by the Captain and Maybelle Show. They are a couple of tattooed freaks in the old carnival sideshow style, and there was a fire breathing show, too. After Hammer, Englishman, Edge and other Horse staff did the official welcome, the rowdy honky tonk band Rebel Son took the stage. They have become the regular band on Friday night and the crowd loves them. Between sets, the crowd stayed down front for the Wet T-shirt Contest with Roadside Marty. That man obviously enjoys putting on an entertaining wet T-shirt contest. After the main Smoke Out area closes for the evening, the party moves to the campground. You could walk around and visit with the many thousands of people camping there. Hundreds of folks head over to the burnout pit to watch guys rev it up for the Smoke Out. Late into the night a couple more bands rocked the campgrounds. Saturday they shift the Smoke Out into overdrive. Bring your muscles and technique to the Anvil Toss. Early in the afternoon there was a Painted Ladies contest. The Horse staff provided the paints and brushes, and the crowd judged folks’ “artwork.” The main stage stays busy with a Chili Pepper Eating contest, T-Shirt Attire contest and The Horse staff giving away some cool prizes, too. To give you even more to see and do, Edge encouraged vendors to put on demonstrations and be more interactive. There are more cool custom motorcycles at the Smoke Out than any event I go to. Besides the thousands of bikes just parked around the place, there are a few shows. Several folks entered the Amateur ChopOff. Edge’s new class is called Hard Knocks Custom Bikes. I’ve told y’all for years that The Ride in Bike Show is always the best of the year. Yeah, I still enter the Mini-Bike Races, organized by

O’Malley’s Speed N Kustom. I think three of us in my heat were racing for last place. But everyone had fun. We ran a few heats, had a Powder Puff Race for the ladies and even ran a sidecar race. Racing Drift Trikes has also become popular at the Smoke Out. Drift Trikes are powered big wheel type machines that look like the back half of a go-cart with a bicycle front end. After supper, The Horse Staff took the stage to honor bike show winners, Long Road riders, and others. Roadside Marty fired up the crowd for another great Wet T-shirt Contest. Preacher Stone rocked the Smoke Out crowd into the night. Saturday night the campground after-party was wild with more music and burnouts late into the night. One of those old CB 750 choppers we saw drag racing and raising hell all day went down in flames in the burnout pit. STE Powersports Customer Appreciation & Motorcycle Swap Meet

By: Gary Steelman STE Powersports held a Customer Appreciation & Motorcycle Swap Meet on Saturday the 9th of July. There were so many bikes and a huge selection of pre-owned Harleys. The choice was yours to make. I couldn’t pick a favorite. There were just too many choices for such a beautiful day. However, I did decide to take advantage of the free drinks and had a Wilson’s dog or two as I watched the ladies wash bikes and take in the sun. What a day for riding, meeting up with old friends and making a few new ones. Jessie, John and Randy were running around sweating all day long helping customers try out some of the aforementioned inventory. Bikes were tooling around everywhere, making noise and shining like new toys. The day wound down with a 50/50 and door prizes for almost everyone, and everyone had a great time with the live music, food and beverages, and the bikini clad bike wash. The sales staff at STE Powersports really goes out of their way to serve everyone that comes in. The ladies are as knowledgeable as anyone when it comes to pre-owned bikes, and

Candee Lou Sommer Memorial Ride July 3, 1973 ~ June 26, 2016

By: Trisha Beasley Photo by: Chi Force A friend to all and to all a friend; Candee Lou Sommer! A tragic loss for any and every one that knew Candee Lou! She was a loving, kind, caring, and compassionate soul; as such she will always remain! Her outstanding qualities are far too abundant to encompass in words. Yet certainly to include: A mother’s love for her children; A daughter’s love for her parents; A woman’s love for her sisters, brothers, family, and friends. On June 26, 2016 Candee’s children lost their mother; Candee’s parents lost their daughter; her sisters, brothers, family and friends lost Candee. She was riding with Scott Farr when a drunk driver struck his motorcycle. Two were lives gone in the blink of an eye! It was a senseless act that took the lives of two people. It was a terrible tragedy that can never be undone.

Candee’s Memorial Ride was held on Saturday, July 9, 2016. All riders were adorned with purple bandanas, as that was her favorite color! The memorial ride began at the Dog House in Fayetteville then to Lafayette Funeral Home where riders joined Candee Lou’s family for her memorial service. Following the service the ride continued to the crash site. As riders were parking Scott’s club brothers joined them. Together they prepared a road side memorial where a single cross was placed in honor of both Candee and Scott, purple balloons and lanterns were sent up to the heavens in love, honor, and respect for Candee Lou Sommer and Scott Farr. With very heavy hearts, everyone recognized and remembered them in unison. It was a beautiful memorial as the cross was placed and the balloons and lanterns filled the sky. It was as if no one could take their eyes away from the heavens as they watched the balloons and lanterns continue to rise higher and higher. Everyone was still watching, pointing to their balloon until each one was completely out of site. Riding with Wings! The ride continued back to the Dog House where there were toasts and stories throughout the entire evening. Candee was a hard worker, a dedicated mother, and a friend to everyone she knew. She never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a smile! She cared for people in the kind of way in which we wish everyone could, the type of caring that compels you to help others. Candee had this insistent love for everyone, which certainly included animals, especially the homeless and injured. She would go out of her way to help someone, in a lot of cases without regard for herself. Candee was charitable in so many ways. She loved to cook and was so happy when everyone enjoyed the meal, and trust me, everyone always enjoyed the meal! If someone did not have a smile on their face, she wanted to put one there! Candee would find a way to make you smile, she would tell a joke or make a funny face. She never wanted anyone to hurt or be sad. It is for these reasons that we celebrate her today and always! Dean Barefoot, Emma Roberts, Angelic Justice, and Gail McDonald hosted the memorial ride. They are also hosting a memorial poker run benefit in Fayetteville on Saturday, August 13, 2016. All proceeds will go directly to her children. Candee Sommer and Scott Farr you are loved and missed every day! Rest In Peace.

Archie’s Custom Cycle 29th Anniversary By: Kickstart & Donut We had a great time June 18th at Archie’s Shack. Lots of local friends came out to eat and listen to good music and enjoy this sunny day. This was an extra special day. Archie decided to have a party in honor of Archie’s Custom Cycles. Archie called the party “Hang your $h!+ on the wall”. What this was all about was to get friends to come out and make Archie’s Shack like a museum and put their motorcycle parts on the wall for all the friends to see and, of course, have a good time. Several people donated parts and hung them on the wall inside of the shack. A hammered sheet metal motorcycle was donated by Amy McCorkle, a clutch handle by Donut, a tag frame by Whitney Grimshaw, a backrest from Sam Willard, and a Michelin Fat Boy sign by Chris Yakshaw. Mark and Becky donated a lighted Grey Goose bottle, a hat and koozie. Tommy Jackson added a metal plaque that said “We don’t dial 911” and I donated my old ape

hangers. Eric Chilicut hung post tables and big thanks to Billy who gave all he had to place these pieces of art on the wall. These are just a few of the people and items that were there that helped made this a special day. During all of this we had an opportunity to listen to the band Straight Shooters play some good ole southern music. Songs included “I Want A Beer”, “School Bus Backseat” and a special song requested by Archie “The Winning Ticket” as a custom made, spur on the moment song. You had to be there to hear that one! We all had a good laugh on that one! Door prizes were also given away every hour with a ticket that was given to anyone that purchased a beverage during the time of the event. Hot dogs were on the table with all your favorite fixins. Thanks to Drag Specialties and Biker’s Choice for all your donations that made this day one we will never forget. Harley-Davidson Of Greensboro Father’s Day Ride By: Lloyd On June 18th, a beautiful sunny day, Harley-Davidson of Greensboro sponsored a Father’s Day Ride. The police escorted ride was free and many fathers showed up for the ride and festivities. Some had their sons or daughters riding along with them. Some just enjoyed the ride with other fathers. The ride took us out through the country, where there was plenty of time to reflect on being a father and the many joys that come with fatherhood. I’m sure some thought of their fathers and some how they miss their fathers who have passed. I have personally been blessed that I still have my father. I am sure many thought of their sons, how they watched them grow to be proud fathers themselves. Upon returning to Greensboro Harley-Davidson there was food, music, and face painting. It was a great Father’s Day ride. Harley-Davidson of Greensboro did a great job sponsoring this ride in honor of fathers. By: Rick Gammons Early Summer Belongs To Indian Motorcycle. May 21st was hot with the threat of rain. I almost decided not to go over to Indian Motorcycle of Greensboro demo weekend. Mark (The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine owner/editor) told me not to be a weatherman and go on over. Good call! I still had an eye on the clouds as I rolled out on my VTX. You could smell the moisture in the air. I zipped on down the highway and over to Indian of Greensboro on Church Street. After arrival, I check the temperature on top of the old Jefferson Life building. It said 83º and still well before lunch. Motorcycles surrounded the shop by the time I arrived, and Indian demo bikes were lined up ready to roll. Remember, you do need a motorcycle endorsement to ride, as some there found out! I checked in, got my ride band and greeted several people that I knew who were already there. I heard the Indian motorcycles roll out while I was still shaking hands, so I gathered that I would not be riding with that group. So I headed out, found some shade (the sun was coming through the clouds, by this time, and it was becoming hot), and waited. As the demo riders returned, there were smiles and compliments all

around for the new Indian machines they rode. I stepped across the street looking for one of the new 2016 Springfield models. There were two. There were also helmets on the seat of each one, indicating that they were taken for the next ride. So, OK, I’ll just pick another. There was an Indian Chieftain (my favorite of all Indian Motorcycles), parked over there but before I could get there and put my helmet down, another gentleman stepped up with his and put it on the seat. This left two bikes available. I had ridden the Scout, so there was only a Chief Dark Horse available for me. I grabbed it! I had ridden a Chief Vintage, but not a Dark Horse. I noticed that there was something different about this particular motorcycle. In a later conversation with Monty (owner), I labeled it as “wicked” or “evil”. He told me that the correct word for it was “sinister”. It was the perfect word! Anyway, we mounted up and off we went. I was not disappointed. The feel of this bike was “just right” - like Campbell’s soup with nice, smooth, quick takeoffs. Being second in line, I stayed

up the ride captain’s butt for most of the way. Movement and cornerings were fluid and effortless. Indian motorcycles are most excellent. They ARE the one to beat this year. Three weeks later, we were at The Great American Cookout. Indian of GSO had hot dogs that were freshly made and prepared outside. And, guess what, several Indian Motorcycles were there for display and there were even more inside. Indian of Greensboro does not clutter their showroom with BS. The bikes speak for themselves. I got there about 11:30. I asked Bob (sales manager) how many motorcycles he had sold that morning. With an immediate change of expression, he said, “None”. I was surprised, but within thirty minutes, Bob was in his office, signing someone up for another new Indian! I cannot tell you how busy Indian of GSO is. I have never been in any other dealership, of any kind, that can outsell them. I had another reason for showing up there. I was there to demo the newest introduction to the Indian Motorcycle inventory - the Springfield (named for the birthplace of Indian Motorcycle). As I signed in, Monty prepared an Indian Red Springfield for my ride. This bike has a minimal bagger look. Basic aluminum framing makes the bike lighter, without sacrificing superior workmanship. There are accessories to consider, but it comes equipped with hard case locking saddlebags, and Indian has one of the best looking engines available. With the Thunder Stroke III 1811 cc (119 ft. lb. of torque) between your legs, high speed cruising is a breeze. And with a 25-degree rake, handling is amazing! It carves turns like a dirt bike. It also has cruise control if you just want to relax while highway riding. I started out in town with left and right turns that were so easy. It dips down and back up with the balance and ease that one would expect from a top class motorcycle. Response time (and speed) is fast enough to avoid stupid actions performed by idiots in cars. I had a woman on a cell phone pull right on me. Zip! A quick right tug on the handlebars and I was out of her way in a flash. It’s just

hard to describe the maneuverability if you have never ridden an Indian Motorcycle. When I hit the Interstate, I had no problem crossing four lanes of traffic to get to the fast lane. Acceleration is exceptional. I think that just a few bikes on the road today can keep up with Indians (for those that feel that speed needs to be a factor). Highway riding (my favorite) was like silk. With an overall length of just over 101 inches, 818 pounds empty weight and a 5.5 gallon tank to get you there, this Indian is a formidable presence anywhere you ride. People will look and admire it. I challenge you to go see the guys at Indian of Greensboro at 201 S. Church Street and test ride an Indian Springfield or any of the other fine Indian Motorcycles. World Honda Chopper Meet

Story and photo by Alan Dockery One of the coolest things about living in the Carolinas is meeting bikers from all over the world who come to play on our beaches and ride in the mountains. The last weekend of June, I joined more than 60 bikers from about 20 states as they converged on Riders’ Roost Motorcycle Resort in Ferguson, NC, for the World Honda Chopper Meet. This gathering is mostly folks who ride older single overhead cam 750s of the type made from 1969 to 1978. Several of us with later twin cam bikes and some newer Honda choppers, bobbers, and customs were there. Some of my Harley riding buddies showed up to get advice on building the old Honda in their garage. The World Honda Chopper Meet is an internet community getting together in the real world. Most of the folks attending are members of the internet forum at www.HondaChopper. com. It’s a chance to meet and get to know the people behind the screen names on the forum. Thirteen years ago members of the internet board moved their event to North Carolina to align with the Horse Backstreet Choppers Smoke Out, then held in Salisbury. The website administrators, known as the G.O.T.F. (Gang Of The Four, named after the four cylinder engines) sponsor the meet. And they do a good job, too, providing plenty of great food Friday and Saturday night plus breakfast. Bikers started arriving during the week since folks were coming from across the country and planned to enjoy the mountains. The Long Distance Rider was Justin Echternacht from Iowa and he rode to far Western North Carolina first, rode The Dragon and The Parkway before landing at The Roost. Congrats to Travis and Elizabeth on their creekside wedding. Saturday we took a group ride to Shu Bob’s for lunch. Some of those guys can really handle their choppers since getting in and out of the Roost can be tricky and our mountain roads a little scary for folks who don’t ride them regularly. That afternoon we enjoyed checking out each other’s bikes and talking with new friends. After a great supper they held drawings, raffle, and an auction of parts and things. You know one man’s junk is the part another needs for his next build. The bikes ranged from mild and ratty to show customs. Folks loved Jeff’s simple old school ride. Jason had the longest bike at 10” 4’. Chris used an FXE front end on his

custom. My favorite was Bill’s Blue CB 1100 F Chopper. I’d never seen one like it. You could spend all weekend talking about these bikes. 200 riders traveled cross-country from the Palm Desert to the Gulf Coast on annual trek to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction

As a result of this year’s ride alone, 100 children will attend Victory Junction at no cost to their families. The camp has served as the ride’s primary beneficiary since it’s establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam. “We are extremely thankful for the incredible turnout year after year,” said Petty. “The seven-day journey wouldn’t be the same without our fans who came out to see us rain or shine. Women’s Freedom Ride 2016 By: WildThing How would you like to ride cross-country with an all women group of motorcyclists and contribute to a great cause? You can do that, (if you are a female and ride a motorcycle), but you will have to wait until next year for this one. The 2016 Women’s Freedom Ride is in the books and the reports and photos shared by the riders are compelling. Karen ‘Mama Bear’ Collins is the passionate founder of this ride in 2013 with her first one riding from Charleston, SC to San Diego, CA. That ride raised funds to provide a track wheelchair for a quadruple amputee veteran. You see, Karen is passionate about two things: riding motorcycles and helping America’s military veterans. She hails from a military family and has been riding motorcycles for 40 years! This year’s ride started again at Low Country Harley-Davidson in Charleston SC, specifically one of Karen’s unfailing supporters. The ride went through eighteen states in eighteen days, averaging 400 +/- miles per riding day. Several riders who rode the whole trip with Karen Collins first rode to Charleston from Florida, Virginia, and Tennessee to begin with the original group. Along the way women, individuals and women’s riding clubs accompanied the group, some for a few hours, some for a few days. The nucleus group was twenty-three strong and grew to upwards of fifty in some of the western states. In order to keep to their schedule and make that many miles each riding day, the women were up and packing their gear on their bikes by six and six-thirty in the morning. No baggage handlers here, everyone was responsible for their own stuff and paid their own expenses. Each morning they would go over the details of the day’s ride, stops, and have a short prayer. The group was blessed with a veteran who donated his time, truck, and trailer to follow them on the whole trip and was prepared with tools to help in case of breakdown and a cooler full of water. Kudos to Jeffrey – thanks for your service

and your commitment to ride chase for these women. The route took the riders through sections of these great states: SC, GA, AL, MS, AR, OK, TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT, CO, KS, MO, IL, KY, TN, and NC on their 18 day trek. They had layovers in Albuquerque, NM, Scottsdale, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Denver, CO where they could rest up, sightsee, do laundry, or just relax. If you look at their itinerary at WomensFreedomRide.org, a list was posted of the different dealerships, several Harley-Davidson dealerships, an Indian dealership and a Honda dealership, as well as motorcycle groups that sponsored the riders with meal stops along the way. Check out the list of sponsors. Each day is catalogued on the website with distances, gas stops, layovers, etc. Karen relayed to me how exhilarating the scenery was riding through these states and the many wonderful experiences the women had. While in New Mexico they visited the Hopi Indian and Navaho reservations and went to the Navaho Veteran’s Memorial where a Navaho shaman blessed the riders. The cause they were riding for? Well, initially to promote and show support for all women riders, regardless of the brand name of their ride. The Women’s Freedom Ride also raised funds, as of this writing $11,000, to support the Military Warriors Support Foundation that helps returning veterans with housing needs. Specifically the WFR support will go to a female veteran or Gold Star spouse that has received their mortgage-free home through banking partners with handicap accessible kitchen and bathrooms. Pledges are still coming into the group, as well as merchandise sales receipts. The grand total of funds will then be presented to the Military Warriors Support Foundation, who has an extremely high percentage of donations actually going to the vets, rather than to administration. Since Karen’s group pays all their own expenses, they are able to give 100% of their support and donations raised on the ride. The WFR plan to present their donation to

Military Warriors Support Foundation at a ceremony on July 31st at Low Country Harley-Davidson in Charleston, SC. This October, Karen and crew will have a pow-wow to decide next year’s ride dates and routes. She said since 2016’s ride went the southern route, and they have been on a midcountry ride, 2017 might be a northern route. By: Caroline It has been a number of years since I first met the Post 55 American Legion Riders at their first bike show. These days, there are lots of new folks there as well as those who have been there many years. One thing that has not changed is the warmth and friendliness of everyone at American Legion Post 55. On June 18th, this year a car show was added to the fun and there was no lack of entries in all the categories. The first place winners are as follows: Stock/Car: Charlie Smith, Custom/Car: Marcel Little, Antique Classic/Car: David Curtis. Stock/Bike: Sean Oates, Old School/Bike: Penny Belcher, Custom/Bike: Steve Shady. Congratulations to all! In addition to the looking at all the fine entries, there was plenty of food, vendors and music. The American Legion Riders uses the funds generated from this event to help the American Legion Boys and Girls State. Women In Motorcycling History

By: Wally Wersching On July 4th 1916, Augusta and Adeline Van Buren (descendants of President Van Buren) embarked on a tremendous journey across the United States. They each rode 1915 Indian motorcycles across the country. The hardships were plenty as the two women made their way from New York, NY to San Francisco, CA. They accomplished the feat in only 61 days – arriving in San Francisco on September 2nd. Those two women were free spirits, and courageous. They inspired future generations of women by their actions. One such person was Bessie Stringfield, The Motorcycle Queen of Miami, who rode her motorcycle across country nine times during the 1930’s, and was a motorcycle courier during WWII. She had to endure many different hardships than the Van Buren sisters during her cross-country trips because Bessie was AfricanAmerican. The country was very segregated during that time, and she was denied many basic things as she traveled. She was another remarkable woman who inspired future generations of women bikers. Now we get to the present, and Sarah Moreau (aka. SeCCRet). She’s an African-American woman who is making history on her motorcycle. SeCCRet, pronounced SECRET (the CCR stands for Cross Country Rider) is now undertaking her 9th crossing of the United States during the Centennial Run to commemorate the Van Buren sisters’ ride in 1916. SeCCRet is a remarkable woman. She has a Master’s Degree from California State University. In 2005, she learned how to ride a motorcycle through an MSF course at a local community college. Since then she has almost continuously been on her motorcycle. She owns a couple Harleys, but for the Sisters’ Centennial Ride, Indian Motorcycles has given her a 2016 Indian Roadmaster to ride. She was having it serviced at

the Indian of Charlotte dealership when I met her. When I asked her about how she liked the Indian compared to her Harleys, she said that she loved the Indian but at slow speed (in parking lots), it was a bit heavy for her. It weighs almost 950 pounds. We talked for quite some time, and then her riding buddy came in. Porsche Taylor (Porsche T) is riding a new BMW R1200RT given to her by BMW for the Sister’s Centennial Ride. Porsche is the editor/publisher of “Black Girls Ride” www.BlackGirlsRide.com. The two young ladies will be part of the Sisters’ Centennial Ride. It will not be like the original ride with only the two sisters. This ride is highly publicized, and riders can join any time during the ride. The route is on the website: SistersMotorcycleRide.com. One of the highlights of the ride will be going up Pikes Peak for a group photo. The original Sisters Ride took 61 days. This year’s ride is scheduled to start on July 3rd in New York, NY, and end on July 23rd in San Francisco, CA - only 20 days! I’m sure that this ride will have its share of hardships along the way. With so many riders, getting gas will take a

long time. I wish them all well, and will follow their progress as they cross the country.

Bigun’s Big Benefit Bash

By: Johnny Reb If you were in eastern North Carolina and not at Home Town Harley-Davidson on Saturday June 18th, man did you miss out on some kind of fun! A benefit was held for Bigun Harris and his family. Bigun, who was diagnosed with cancer, has been down all the nightmare cancer treatment roads. He is hanging in there with a superhero attitude and the kind of intestinal fortitude rarely seen today. Bigun has the support of his beautiful and caring wife, Alana, and two daughters, MacKenzie the oldest at 14, and the cutest little girl, Morrigan, who is 2. The weather was picture perfect. You could not ask for better. I didn’t even bother to wash The Black Wasp because it was just too nice of a day to wash a bike and so much better to ride. So we flew off to Hometown Harley-Davidson in Winterville. When we got there we were greeted with a sight to see! There were HOGS cooking eastern North Carolina Style and rows and rows of motorcycles! I would estimate 300 people in attendance and all there to help Bigun Harris in a time of need. a great bunch of guys and wanted to share their stories about what a great guy Bigun Harris is. Some of the other clubs in attendance were Brotherhood MC, Veterans MC, Ghost Riders MC, Iron Order MC, Bikers For Christ Motorcycle Ministries, and United Arms who said they are not an MC but a riding club. I talked to some of the finest people representing our lifestyle in eastern North Carolina that you will ever see. When it comes to giving and caring these people have the heart! Hometown Harley-Davidson once again stepped up to the plate and smashed it out of the park, with their support and hospitality. The 50/50, and the raffle prizes were set up and coordinated by Sarah Lively and Dakota Richie. They put a huge amount of work into setting this day up and it was a phenomenal success with $5000 being raised. A special thank you goes out to Dustin and Jeanie Coffey from Limitless Welding and Fabrication, who gave all their profits from the day to Bigun and his family. All in all, it was a great day and I wish only the best for Bigun Harris and his family.

By: Grant Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury holds a Veterans Voices get together on the first Monday of each month. The June meeting was held on the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1941. We were lucky enough to have in attendance 5 WWII Veterans this month. As we all know most of our WWII veterans are no longer with us and it was an honor for me to sit at the table with them. Lots of stories were being told, and as most veterans know, some lies, too! Tilley H-D employees treated us to pancakes and sausage and good strong coffee. “On the first Monday of each month, we have this meeting in the HOG room and it’s a treat for us to do this for our veterans”, said General Manger, Tracy Edwards. “I have been a fixture at this dealership since it was only a dream and I know the employees really mean it.” The Salisbury VA uses their bus to bring over the veterans that are able to come. Others come just to have coffee and a doughnut, if that’s the meal of the day, and get to talk to others who have been where new and old veterans are. So if you are a veteran and want to swap some stories or just hear some good ones, make plans to come to the next Veterans Voices meeting on September 5th at Tilley Harley-Davidson, 653 Bendix Drive, in Salisbury, NC. I would personally like to thank Tilley H-D of Salisbury and all the employees for caring for our country’s veterans. We are the land of the free, because of the brave.

The 1st Annual Ride To Breathe On

By: Johnny Reb Sometimes when you hear a story that is as uplifting as it is tragic, you just have to tell everyone. On July 9th, once again the black wasp and I found ourselves going home. Hometown Harley, that is. Today we were honoring Guy Woodard, one of the most selfless and true to his Christian beliefs you will ever find. Guy did as many good things in his short 42 years than most of us do in a lifetime. Woolard had started a group called Christmas Angels. For years, without anyone knowing it, he found deserving children and provided them with toys for Christmas. No one knew and he never said anything about it to anybody. He just did it on his own. Well, after a few years of riding solo he decided to patch in with a Christian motorcycle Ministry called Brothers First MM. It was then that he divulged what he had been doing all these years. So, in true biker Brotherhood fashion, they picked up the gauntlet and helped him deliver toys to needy families in three counties. Tragically, after a year as a full patched in member, Guy died in January from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Brothers First MM is putting on the Ride To Breathe On in Guy’s honor. The president of Brothers First MM, Jonathan Phillips, was by his bedside right up it to the end. He said that this good work had to go on and so the club continued to do his good work and not only continued it but doubled it in size. That, my friends, is what Brotherhood is all about. Say what you do and do what you say. So on the morning of the ninth the WASP and I rolled into Hometown Harley and the place was jamming with good music and good people! A band called Side Project provided the good music. When I say they

rocked, brother they rocked! Our eastern North Carolina biker community came out in droves with independents and MCs alike! The Brothers First had a raffle and a 50/50 drawing going along with t-shirts for sale. All money donated to the breathing project. If you brought an unwrapped toy you got 10 free raffle tickets. Next year I will know to bring a toy. The Blue Knights were in attendance along with The Street Hawks from Greenville. The heat didn’t slow down the fun and everybody had a great time. I want to add that Brothers First MM also ministers and helps fallen bikers and even conduct marriage services. So, ladies tell the old man that there’s nothing stopping him from making it official! Brothers First MM holds services at Eastern Pines Church of Christ in Greenville, so stop in on a Sunday when you’re out riding. They don’t care what you wear. Leathers and jeans are fine. Just go in and fellowship with some great people and say a prayer and a thank you for people like Guy Woolard. Johnny Reb signing off! See y’all on the road.

Cherokee County Meals On Wheels 3rd Annual Dice Run

By: Derenda Mullinax The 3rd Annual Dice Run to benefit Cherokee County Meals On Wheels in Gaffney, SC was held on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Raising upward of $2,600, in hopes to aid in the funding of giving of meals and support to Cherokee County’s aging and handicapped residents. The organization does not receive any government funding and depends solely upon residential and business donations. Many of the recipients do not receive any other human contact other than from the volunteers of Meals On Wheels, at times serving as first responders to ailing elderly that have no way or no one to reach out to for help. Meals are not the only thing that Meals On Wheels gives to clients. Often it is just a smile that makes their day brighter. Donations of magazines, books, toiletries and other small items are also distributed when available. There is also a growing need of pet food and supplies. There are clients that have only pets as family who also need food and support. This is one of several fundraisers throughout the year that aides in the continuing work of Cherokee County Meals On Wheels. Starting at Cherokee County Veteran’s Appreciation Park with approximately 85 participants, the event began with the pledge of allegiance and prayer. Announcements were made as a guide to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. As soon as the signal was given at 10:30 am, the sound of v-twin engines roared. Our ride is made up of 5 different stops. Volunteers of Cherokee County Meals On Wheels manned each stop where participants rolled a set of dice to determine the score that they would receive. Riders traveled to Spartanburg Harley-Davidson for the 1st stop. A Father’s Day special was in full swing with fresh doughnuts, coffee, and soft drinks for everyone. There were special offers on the newest models of Harley-Davidson motorcycles inside. A display of antique Harley-Davidson motorcycles adorns the upper rafters of the store. Stop in to see the manager, “Goldie”, who will do her best to make sure all your Harley dreams come true. Time to get this ride on, traveling back into Gaffney to the 2nd stop at Sandra G’s Saloon. Owned and operated by Sandra Gilfillan, this little saloon is a sight to see and is known to have awesome bands every weekend. Sandra is a longtime supporter and volunteer of Cherokee County Meals On Wheels and it was a pleasure to return the favor by using her business as one of the stops On to the 3rd stop, about 17 miles away to Skull Shoals Auto Stop. We went winding though some of the most beautiful countryside roads to arrive at a one stop convenient store at the edge of Cherokee County. It is a unique setting in the

county with backdrop of old barns, sheds and home places. A nice place to just sit on the porch and rock the afternoon away. We couldn’t stay too long, because the next leg of the ride is to the other side of Cherokee County to meet up at Burnt Mill in Blacksburg, SC. This is the most unique place you will ever visit. Johnny Walker, owner/operator, invites one and all to enjoy his little corner of heaven located across a bridge alongside a running oversized creek. You can enjoy a dip in the creek, a picnic with the family and or just sit back and enjoy the surroundings. It is a must see attraction of the county. After leaving Burnt Mill they make their way to Holly Grove Catering, located also in Blacksburg, SC. Where everyone was served the best pulled pork you will find anywhere. With sides like potato salad, slaw, baked beans, and rolls. Don’t’ forget desert. The Mooreheads are gracious hosts. Joyce Moorehead has served on the board of Cherokee County Meals On Wheels for over 20 years. The Mooreheads give of their time and their facilities to accommodate this event annually. Riders enjoyed good food and drinks while enjoying music by “Nameless” a local band with Chris Topher and Forrest Byars. On site photographer, Backwoods Bombshell, aka Daisy Crater was on hand to take those unique photos to forever capture the moments of the day. Iron Horse Law Firm was there with a vendor tent to help answer any legal questions that anyone had. Now the time has come to announce the winners! At the final stop all of the scores were tallied up. The highest and lowest scores where confirmed. Stefani Dodson was awarded $300 with the high score of 290 and Donna Ledbetter was awarded $100 for the low score of 116. The 50/50 went to Chad Smiley. Chad was kind enough to give his half back and make the donation back to Meals On Wheels total $258. The Cherokee County businesses have always been so generous donating money to assist in funding this event as well as giving numerous door prizes to be awarded. Last but not least let us say “Thank You” to all of the volunteers that make this event possible.

Sharing Magazines By: Wally Wersching I look forward to the release of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine each month. I send the editor, Mark, many articles, but don’t know which of them will make the magazine until I actually see the magazine. The July issue has four of my articles. I always try to give magazines to the people I write about. This month was a little challenging. On page 26, was the PGR Mission for C.J. Toney. I sent emails to the ride captain for the mission but got no reply. I was glad that I met him, and Reverend Mike of the Bare Bones Biker Church at a Poker Run. They were both with me on the mission. I gave a copy of the magazine to each. They had not seen the magazine. I asked them to pass it on to the family of C.J. Toney. The next article was on page 31. It was about the 16th Annual Lincolnton Hog Happenin’. I mentioned a lot of people in that article. The first was the Lilybean’s Micro-Roasted Coffee House in Shelby. I gave the owner a copy of the magazine with the mention of his place highlighted. He thought that it was “Cool”, and thanked me. in the same article, I mentioned members of the “Driven by Grace” Biker Ministry, and how nice they are. I made a special trip to their monthly meeting in Lincolnton to give them copies. They liked seeing the ministry in print. At the end of the article, I wrote about stopping at the C. Grier Beam (Carolina Freight) Museum. I made a special trip to give Joe a couple copies. He likes to give the board of directors a copy when the museum gets in print. Lastly, I sent an email to the Lincolnton Downtown Development Association who was responsible for bringing the Hog Happenin’ to Lincolnton. I attached a copy of the article in the email. I have not received a reply. The next article was the Carolina Faith Riders Bike Night at the Sonic in Forest City on page 63. Luckily, they have a bike night every week. I went to another bike night and gave copies of the magazine to many of the members. They were thankful. The last article was on page 71 – Military Through The Ages at the Kings Mountain Military Park. It was a Memorial Day event. I was lucky again. They had a smaller event over the 4th of July. I stopped in and gave copies to the rangers as well as the re-enactors who were there. Many of them were there over Memorial Day, too. They really seemed to enjoy reading about themselves in the magazine. They are all volunteers, and really enjoy sharing their knowledge with all who come to visit. I covered all the people I wrote about this month. I enjoy writing the articles but really enjoy the reaction of the people when they read about themselves.

By: Wally Wersching The place to be from 6:30 pm to 9 pm every other Thursday is the “Driven By Grace” Biker Ministry bike night at the Sonic drive-in on East Main Street in Lincolnton, NC. I went on June 9th, and I arrived at about 6:30. I parked “Miss Vickie”, and walked up to say “Hi” to a few of the “Driven by Grace” Biker Ministry sitting at the table. I always enjoy visiting with the members of the Driven by Grace Biker Ministry. They are all so friendly. I ordered a “Chicago Dog”, and was surprised that during the Bike Night, the menu is half price for the participants. The “Chicago Dog” was delicious. Later, a man rode in on an unusual bike. I think that it started as a “Big Dog” custom hard tail, and the man modified it with an oversized front wheel. I watched as he rode it in, and parked it. It looked like handful to ride. Sometimes people modify a bike to look good, and it impairs the handling. It looked great but I wouldn’t want to ride it very far. More people rode in, and it was a very pleasant time. Other biker ministries came to the Bike Night to share experiences with the “Driven By Grace” members. I shared a stack of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazines with them all. I left about 7:30, and headed back to Shelby. It was a great way to spend time with friends on a Thursday evening. I marked my calendar so that I will know which Thursday it will be on next time. I will definitely go again this summer.

Ride In Peace “Hopp”

By: Rick Gammons Floyd “Hoppy” Grant was my friend. He was friends with Rob, Wilson, Jimmy, and so many others, that it would take the entire magazine to hold the names of the people who knew, or knew of Hoppy. He died on July 1, 2016 from cancer. At 95% in his body, the doctor remarked that if there were a 5th degree of cancer, he would say that Hoppy qualified. Hoppy was 51. He was a character. He was a biker. He had only one leg. He lost the other leg to cancer at 19 years old. He lived his entire adult life without that leg. Hopp enjoyed shooting pool, playing horseshoes, hanging out with his friends, and riding his motorcycle. His motorcycle was adapted for him to ride and it had a place for his crutches. Did I mention that his bike was a trike? Good choice for a man with his condition. I remember early on, he used to beg people to ride him to wherever. He only got a few takers, so he set about making a biker’s life his own. I remember when he rode it in his first charity ride. He stalled his bike right at the entrance to the street. We hollered at him and laughed. He cranked up and burned out across the road. I guess that started the best part of his life. Near the end, he asked Rob if there were motorcycles in Heaven. Rob said, “Yes, along with an endless road.” Hopp said he would have his leg back and would be able to ride two wheels, a perfect body for a perfectly endless highway. Hoppy, we love you and we will miss you greatly. Just remember to catch up with Patrick, Steve, Nathan, Rich, and RD. They are riding just ahead and waiting for you. The rest of us will be along eventually.

Freedom Biker Church® Celebrates Ten Years! By: Preacher Mike & Charlene Beasley WOW! What an incredible celebration it was July 7-10 at The Gathering 3 and Ten Year FBC Anniversary Party. With folks from all of the FBC Churches including future church plants, the Baptist State Convention of NC, the Johnston Baptist Association, as well as the many motorcycle ministries such as the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) and Bikers For Christ (BFC), we had one big blowout at the Home Office. Thursday night was the kickoff for the Freedom Biker Church® Network’s third Gathering. Gatherings are held every two years and this year’s was the biggest and best by far. The Gathering is an amazing time as the whole Freedom family comes together to hang out as one big family. Thursday evening was a time for worship, praise, and partying as we jammed with music from Diversity, the FBC Home Office house band, introduced all of the FBC pastors, and spent some time hanging out afterwards. It’s always good to see our brothers and sisters from around the country and to hear all that our amazing God is doing. Friday morning was spent in an open session called “Shop Talk” as folks shared some of the things they are doing at their church. After some burgers and hotdogs for lunch, it was time for an ice cream run. The bikes were fired up and off to Porter Farms on Hwy 42 between Fuquay-Varina and the Cleveland Community who not only serve great ice cream, but also serve up some fresh vegetables, the best strawberries (in season), and big ol’ smiles. Friday evening we gathered back at the church for some great music by When Forever Comes, the house band at FBC Fayetteville, and were entertained, encouraged, and inspired by Pastor JD Tew of FBC Fayetteville. Then came Saturday, July 9, 2016. Freedom Biker Church’s Ten Year Anniversary! What a day it was. It’s hard to believe that ten years ago on July 9, 2006, on the side of HWY 70 in Clayton, NC, Freedom Biker Church® was born. Five families came together back then as one family and began the journey that has led to thousands of miles riding for Christ’s sake and thousands of souls being saved for His sake. Saturday was a packed day from start to finish. It began with a VIP Ride to Ray Price H-D®. We love and appreciate all that Ray and Jean Price have done for Freedom Biker Church®

these past ten years. Ray Price was a true friend to FBC and we miss him dearly. The VIP Ride had 118 bikes with 178 people. The ride was led by The Dragon Slayers MC to the dealership for some delicious chicken wings at the annual Ray Price H-D® Chicken Wing Cook-off. A special thanks to Kris Weiss of RPHD for all he does. After the bones were cleaned and bellies were full the ride headed back to the church located at 131 Guy Rd., Clayton, NC to check out the many vendors, listen to more great music from When Forever Comes and Diversity, claim door prizes from our great sponsors which included Team Powersports®, Camping World®, and Cabela’s®, and a Celebration service to recognize some of the people who have supported FBC for these past ten years. Bob Ranew, designer of the FBC logo and the “Let’s Ride, for Christ’s sake” slogan was on hand as folks showed their appreciation for his incredible gift and creativity. Homes For Our Troops By: Star Munsey Usually I write about a journey I take on my motorcycle; this article is a bit different because on Saturday, June 25th my ride was about the destination: Volunteer Day. That Saturday, June 25, I rode my motorcycle to a remote home site in Burlington, NC to “give back” via one of my favorite charities, Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). This charity builds specially adapted homes for severely injured Combat Wounded Veterans, and gives these veterans the home, mortgage-free. On each build they ask the veteran to choose where they want to live, they find a location and purchase the land in the area the veteran decided on, and then they involve the local community to get the home built. The charity organizes the fund-raising events, groundbreaking ceremonies (where motorcycle groups/ clubs and local law enforcement provide a first class escort to the site), and as the build comes near completion they have a volunteer day like this one. On volunteer days, willing supporters can give back and show their appreciation to the veteran and the sacrifice they have made for our freedoms with some sweat equity, helping with landscaping and preparing the outside of a home for the deserving recipient. Once I rode to the new home site, I pulled up at the end of a drive, and was excited to see I was one of over 120 patriotic and thankful volunteers that showed up for this volunteer day! I parked my Road King at the end of the gravel entry, and walked towards all the activity, smiling as I heard music and lively voices, which carried through the air, drawing me to the hub of the day’s activity. Though the day was young, the activity was already in full swing. The heavy rains of the night before left large obstacles of a mixture of standing water puddles and muddy clay between the home and the surrounding yard, but that was nothing a few dozen determined people couldn’t overcome! Plywood sheets were laid down to create paths, between the home, the driveway and the sod and shrubbery piles to create

the yard and final landscaping. Volunteers formed lines to transfer the mountain of sod and shrubbery to the appropriate areas where it would rest to complete this home. I soon found my biker boots easily doubled as rugged work boots, when I got in line and put my muscles to the test as I transferred and laid sod, while others planted flowers and bushes, making this a yard the new owners would love. We raked, we carried around sod, we planted and cleaned. A few hours later, we finally enjoyed a barbeque lunch together, and looked over the result of our labor. We put down over 9000 square feet of sod and in turn conveyed an expression of appreciation for the Veteran and his family who will be given the keys to this home next month! Although the volunteer activities were the reason for the day, the highlight of the day was having a chance to meet the people there, including the recipients of this home, Marine Corporal Garrett J. Carnes and his family. He lost both legs after stepping on a pressure plate IED while serving in Afghanistan in 2012. Since then, he has had over 30 surgeries, but he is tough, enduring and pushing through recovery with his beautiful wife of six years, Courtney, at his side. In addition to her support, he has the joy and inspiration of a growing family, as they now have two sons, Chase and Easton. They continue to build a beautiful life together, and this home is the next big step. I believe this home is not only practical, but it is poetic. A home is part of the American dream, a dream Garrett protected for all of us, as he served selflessly in defending our nation. In the process of defending us, he has made an extreme sacrifice for our freedoms. It is so appropriate that through Homes For Our Troops, we thank him and his family, as we help with the completion of their home, and make their American Dream a reality.

Nancy Quick Benefit By: Kickstart & Donut On June 26, 2016 our biker community came together to help a good friend raise funds to cover expenses from an accident she had. On May 18, 2016 Nancy Quick on her newly purchased 2014 Honda VTX 1300 and her best friend Tim Mace were headed to Myrtle Beach Bike Week to have a good time. When they got to Myrtle Beach they decide to go out to eat. As they were coming back from dinner Nancy noticed a bicycle on the right side of Hwy 17 and proceeded with caution at 35 mph, but Nancy did not realize that he was going to pull out in front of her. It left her no choice but to lay her motorcycle down. A lot of first responders showed up and they then decided to take Nancy to the Grand Strand Medical Center where she had to spend 2 1/2 days in the trauma unit. Her injuries included internal bleeding on the hip and a severe concussion, torn ACL, and road rash. After being release from the hospital, Nancy found out the guy on the bicycle has no kind of insurance, and as you know, a visit to the hospital is no light expense especially if you are there for any period of time. At the time, Nancy did

not have medical insurance. So they stayed at the beach as planed and tried to make the best of it. A friend, Teresa Martin, wanted to put a benefit ride together for Nancy, so at 11 am on June 26, 2016 registration started at Bogarts in Cayce, SC. The 2nd stop was at The New Ole Place in Columbia. There we got to enjoy the Columbia ABATE car and bike show and got to see a few extra friends as we crossed each others’ path. The 3rd stop was just right around the corner at The Ale House on Tommy Circle. Our next to last stop was at the River Rat Brewery on Shop Road where we got surprised by some of their special beverages. As we made our way to our final destination, we made a detour to visit O’Kelly’s because we wanted to deliver The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazines. We wanted one more for the road and I think that was the plan anyways. We then headed to the final stop at Hazelwood Party Shop. This is where it all came together with food, drinks, music, raffles, and a 50/50. The Ale House made a big donation and all funds that were raised this day were donated to the ride. Lisa Page donated a big gift certificate for permanent make up. Susan Rabon won the 50/50 and gave it all back. Thank You, Susan. Patty Reed Moore made eggs rolls and donated the sales back to Nancy. Also special thanks to No Prior Notice for playing some badass music. Nancy wanted to give a big shout out to all that were able to be a part of this and let them know that she is trying to get well so she can be back in the wind with all of her friends. In the mean time, I guess we have to watch out for more than just the cagers, so remember to ‘Look Twice’. ‘Ride Safe Bikers’.

A gang of motorcycle tough-guys entered the diner and one of the bikers put his finger into the truck driver’s coffee and said, “Hmm, not very hot, is it?” A second biker put his finger into the scrambled eggs and said, “Hmm, not very fluffy, are they?” Without saying a word, the trucker arose, left his table, paid for his meal and went out the door of the diner. “Wasn’t much of a man, was he?” The gang leader laughed. “He’s not too great as a driver, neither”, replied the waitress. “He done just run over a bunch of motorcycles on his way out of the lot!”

A Yamaondason 2000 SP 8.2 was was the most expensive bike in the world, costing $32,150.99. The first day he bought the new bike he took it for a spin. While doing so he stopped at a red light at the city limits. An elderly gentleman pulled up next to him on a moped. The man looked over at the bright, red, shiny, sleek, new motorcycle and asked, “What kind of scooter ya got there, sonny?” The young man replied: “It’s a Yamaondason 2000 SP 8.2. It costs $32,150.99 out the door”. “That’s a lot of money”, said the old man, shocked. “Why does it cost so much?” “Because this bike can go 200 mph!” exclaimed the young man. “Can I take a closer look at it?” the old fella asked. “Sure”, replied the new owner. From his moped, the old man leaned over and took a good look at the very fast-looking machine. Just then the light changed, so the young man decided to show the old guy what his new motorcycle could really do. He gave it full throttle and within 20 seconds the speedometer read 199 mph. Suddenly, he noticed a dot in his rear-view mirror. It seemed to be getting closer! He slowed a little to see what it could be, and, suddenly, WHHHOOOSSSHHH, something whipped passed him going much faster. “What could be faster than my 2000 SP 8.2?” the young man thought to himself. Then, just ahead of him, he saw the dot coming back at him. WHHHOOOSSSHHH! It went flying by him again, going in the opposite direction! It almost looked like the elderly man on the moped! “How could that be?” thought the young man. Again he saw the dot in his mirror! WHHHOOOSSSHHH! KABBBLAMMM! The moped slammed into the rear of the shiny new 2000 SP 8.2, demolishing the rear end of the young rider’s pride and joy. The young man jumped off and saw it was the old timer. Of course the moped was crushed, and the old man was lying on the ground, pretty beat up. The young man ran over to him and asked, “Are you hurt? Is there anything I can do for you?” The old man groaned and replied, “Yes, would you please unhook my suspenders from your side-view mirror?”

I stopped by my local Ford Dealership this morning to look for a new truck. I saw a nice F-350 crew cab loaded with all the options that I liked and asked to take it for a test drive. The salesperson (a lady wearing a Hillary for President lapel pin) sat in the passenger seat next to me, describing the truck and all its options. She explained that the electric seats were connected to the ventilation system and could be set to direct cool air to your butt in the summer & warm air to your butt in the winter. So I mentioned that this must be a “Trump truck”. She looked at me a bit angry, and asked why I thought it was a Trump truck. I told her that if it were a Hillary truck, the seats would just blow smoke up my a$$ year round. The two-mile walk back to the dealership to pick up my truck was worth it. (according to your party affiliation, you may switch names, if you choose.)

My doctor took one look at my gut and refused to believe that I work out. A biker who worked on a horse farm, got pulled over by a state trooper for speeding. Since it was a rural road with no traffic, the biker tried to get the trooper to let him off with a warning. Instead, the trooper lectured the biker about speeding, and generally gave the biker a hard time. Finally, the trooper got around to writing the ticket, and as he was doing that he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The biker said, “Having some problems with Circle Flies?” The trooper stopped writing the ticket and said, Well, yeah, if that’s what they are – I never heard of Circle Flies.” So the biker says, “Well, Circle Flies are common on farms. See, they’re called Circle Flies because they’re always found circling around the back end of a horse.” The trooper says, “Oh.” And goes back to writing the ticket. After a minute he stops and says, ”Hey – are you trying to call me a horse’s ass?” The biker says, “No officer. I have too much respect for cops to even think about calling you a horse’s ass.” The trooper says, “Well, that’s a good thing,” and goes back to writing the ticket.
