hankful is a theme that should course through every month of our lives, but November provides several specific opportunities to be grateful. Sometimes just the relief from hot, humid, summer weather is a good reason to be thankful. The changing of the leaves adds color to the relief and certainly thrills even the most casual observers. Motorcycle riders can take particular joy in the weather this time of year. The sun can be warm, but it is not hot and yet it is not too cold, either. The first Tuesday in November is Election Day. While none of us relish the idea of another thing to do, we can all be thankful that we live in a Democratic Republic whose power rests in its citizens who are equally entitled to vote. This is the essence of “We, the people” and I doubt anyone would dispute that free elections give us reason to be thankful, even when your candidate does not prevail. November 10 marks the birth of the US Marine Corps in 1775 and November 11th is Veterans Day, first celebrated in 1921 as Armistice Day. In 1954, President Eisenhower changed it to Veteran’s Day, in honor of those who served and died from all wars. The time and day was picked because fighting ceased in WWI in 1918 on November 11 at 11:11. In keeping with this tradition, work stops on this day and time each year for a moment of silence. We salute the Marine Corps and thank our veterans every day of the year. Any questions? November 22nd is “Go For A Ride Day”. Most of us will be happy, and thankful, to observe this holiday. Even though it falls on a Wednesday this year, mark it on your calendar and use it for an excuse to put some miles on your bike. Then, on the 4th Thursday, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It is a time to enjoy a huge feast and to give thanks to our God, for the things he has bestowed upon us and upon this great nation. There is no nation in the world that has more to be thankful for than Americans do. From the fledgling settlement of the “new world” to what America has become today, it is pretty evident that God has blessed the USA and that gives me reason to be thankful. I am also thankful that we have been able to bring you The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for the past 19 years! During that time, we have made many new friends and our advertisers have made it possible for us to chronicle the history of motorcycling in the Carolinas. If that is not reason to be thankful, I don’t know what is! Now we head into the toy run season and that gives us many opportunities to be thankful and share with those less fortunate. I encourage you to reference The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar, attend as many of your favorite charity events as you can, and be a blessing to someone. I propose that it will make all parties thankful. Happy Holidays! Story and photo by Alan Dockery The second Saturday in November was the first real cold day of Fall, but they were serving up hot chili at Tilley Harley-Davidson in Statesville, NC. Riders were stopping in all day to wish Robinette and the staff a happy 45th Anniversary. In 1972 many of us were riding our first motorcycles, but Don and Robinette Tilley were starting their life-long dream to own a Harley-Davidson Dealership. Over the years, they started to expand. By the late 1990’s the Tilleys opened a Salisbury shop. In 2003, they moved into a modern shop at the current Statesville location. By the end of 2006 the Salisbury shop had grown into a full dealership. Now Tilley H-D has satellite stores in Mooresville and Lexington for your winter gear and Christmas shopping needs. Tilley Harley-Davidson’s roots run real deep in our area. Many of our friends and family members have bought motorcycles there. Don was famous in both motorcycle and car racing and some of the NASCAR drivers and crew members still buy their bikes at Tilley Harley-Davidson.

Bikers stopped in all afternoon for the chili and for great deals on bikes, accessories, and Motorclothes. Being Veterans’ Day, there were special deals for folks who served. Phil Goins, Pastor at Freedom Biker Church of Hickory, NC, was playing his guitar and singing some classics in the showroom. Billy Buck, Kudzu and Kathy from Real Country WAME 92.9 & 550 am were doing a live remote broadcast from Tilleys. Robinette was there for a while, smiling, and looking good as she greeted customers and old friends. “It’s an honor and privilege to celebrate 45 years in business,” she said. “It’s our community and customers who we call family that got us here. Thank you and here’s to another 45.”

6th Annual Seth Nall Memorial Scholarship Benefit Ride

By: Buzz As a father, I cannot imagine losing one of my children. I can only hope that I could compose myself as well at Tim Nall has after the loss of his son, Seth. This is the 6th Annual ride to honor Seth’s memory, but as Tim says, “It doesn’t get any easier”. After Seth’s death, Tim set up a Memorial Scholarship at Trinity High School to keep his son’s memory alive. Every year, to fund the scholarship, Tim enlists one of his and Seth’s passions, riding motorcycles. church, Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. I pulled up and was greeted by familiar faces of friends I had made on previous years’ rides, and of course, Tim. I swear, every time I see Tim he has a Cheshire Cat smile on his face. Tim was making his way through the crowd talking to everyone and hanging out with his buddy and local artist Blake Hinkle. If you are not familiar with Blake’s artwork, look him up on Facebook at Art By Blake Hinkle. As folks rode in, they registered for the ride, bought t-shirts, and got to check out the Pink Cares Piedmont Pink Fire Truck that commemorates those who have lost their battle with breast cancer. When the clock hit 11 am, we staged and hit the road with the Guilford County Sheriffs escorting our ride. Our escorts did a great job keeping the pack together as we took a leisurely ride through the country, down past Murrow Mountain, and down to our first stop at American Classic Motorcycles in Asheboro. We stretched our legs and wandered inside to pull our remaining poker hand cards, get a drink, and continue the festivities.

Riders has always put out a big spread of food for rides that stopped by, and today was no different. Chips, cookies, hotdogs (your choice of pink hot dogs or beef franks!) hamburgers, chips, and all the fixings. After we ate, and boy did we eat, Steve Turner of JOC auctions took the mic to run the auction. Every year, Tim compiles a ton of great auction Items, and this year was no exception. There were custom Seth Nall engraved bats from the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory, a ton of cool paintings by Blake Hinkle, and carry conceal class tickets, just to name a few. Steve and his wife did a great job getting the crowd off their wallets and keeping the auction going. When the last item was auctioned off it was time for the grand prize announcement. This year Tim had up’d the best hand prize to $1000, WoW! Not too shabby to spend a great day riding with friends and then take home a Grand! Horsefeathers 21st Anniversary

Story and photo by Alan Dockery A great place where many of y’all have taken folks when they turn 21 years old reached that special milestone recently. On October 21st, Horsefeathers Roadhouse in Sherrills Ford, NC, celebrated its 21st Anniversary. Early that Saturday afternoon bikers started riding in for the party. Some to hangout for a while, others just to have a beer and say “Hey!”, or wish the staff happy anniversary and have a cupcake. One of the cool things about Horsefeathers is you can walk around the place and join several mini-parties. There’s the group out front by the beer tub watching folks come and go. I like the Big Deck out back where we can sit with a view of the lake. Inside the bar was hopping and great food was being served. Love them Hawg Wings and brisket.

Ryan Trotti played into the evening. That night the Crown Royal Girls and Fireball Girls stopped by with goodies to give away. There were food and drink deals all day and night, including shrimp and oysters. Horsefeathers Horsefeathers is Roadhouse is a great poker run stop. That afternoon the oldest watering the Newell Strong Naked hole on Lake Duck Hunt and Poker Norman. Run stopped in. This is a pay it forward for breast cancer ride. Heather Newell, Harrisburg, NC, is a survivor and leads the ride. The first poker run was for her and now she continues the ride. “Horsefeathers has been real good to us,” Heather said. “We have stopped here every year.” “Thanks to all our friends and customers for coming out to help us celebrate our twenty-first anniversary,” said Tim Anderton, owner. “Horsefeathers is the oldest watering hole on Lake Norman. We are proud of it along with our excellent barbeque. I’m happy how well Horsefeathers has been received as a restaurant and bar, but also as a place to come and have a good time.” This cool old place was first built in 1955. Originally it was a grocery and sold gas. Through a couple owners it was mainly a convenience store with a beer bar and burger stand.

The building was on the verge of being condemned when Tim and Sherry bought it in 1994. It took them two years to turn it into the place we love. The party marked the twenty-first anniversary of opening as Horsefeathers Roadhouse. I hope y’all join me in saying thanks a bunch to Tim and Sherry for giving us such a cool place to ride to and an excellent poker run stop. “Horsefeathers was designed to be a hangout,” Tim said. “It’s set up for people to come and enjoy themselves. Whether they are eating, drinking, playing games or just socializing, that’s part of the concept and design.” Tim has plans to continue improving Horsefeathers. They have upgraded the kitchen. He will be developing a place on the cove to provide more room for us to relax by the lake. Addition parking is coming too. Horsefeathers is a unique place on a Lake Norman cove in the Southeast corner of Catawba County, about a mile North of Hwy 150. The food is great and comes from their smokehouse, which is the biggest in the area. With 24 beer taps you can try something new or have your old favorite. Mystery Ride – Fill The Pantry By: Kickstart & Donut Well, the Good Lord blessed us all on Saturday, October 28th with a perfect day for riding for a great cause in South Carolina. We started out with a meet and great at the Bar Of Lexington at 11am. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served to get everyone ready to ride for the day. Many bikers came out before, after, and during the event to benefit the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter. KSU was at 11am and LBI at 5pm. R.M. Campbell 11th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run

By: Bill Gallaway Sunday, November 5th was a special day for the residents of the R.M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. This run, planned by the Teufelshunde Motorcycle Club, is put on every year to support the Veterans/Residents of the R.M. Campbell Nursing Home. Last year there was more than $10,000 raised, all of it going to Veteran Services. The line-up started around 1 pm, the official start time, and most riders arrived between 1- 2:30 pm. KSU was scheduled for 2:30, but actually started at 2:45 pm. We had to time when we were going to merge into the Parade in Downtown Anderson. Prior to the start of the parade, the road guards and police left to control traffic during the run. The all bike run proceeded to the nursing home and the parade took approximately one hour to descend upon the nursing home. Those that made it were greeted by representatives of R.M. Campbell and the residents awaiting our arrival.

It was a mostly overcast day with temperatures in the mid 60’s to low 70’s, so everyone was comfortable. There were no skydivers this year due to the cloudy conditions. There was, however, a 21-gun volley and it was a very patriotic and festive event where everyone showed respect during the singing of the National Anthem and the presentation of our flag. Of the 500+ motorcycles on the ride, there were only two that had minor problems. We were riding tight to keep the length of the parade manageable. All along the parade route through Downtown Anderson folks were waving flags and holding signs thanking us for our service. I know when I ride under the huge flag displayed from the firetrucks I get a very proud feeling for our country and what we stand for. I won’t forget the event and can’t wait until next year for the 12th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run. Make plans now to come out and support the veterans of R.M. Campbell Nursing Home; it’s always the same time every year. A special thank you to all our Veterans and everyone responsible for making this event possible.

Wheels Through Time 2017 Motorcycle Raffle

By: WildThing The climatic end to an exciting motorcycle raffle happened on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC and I didn’t get the call. As expectant excited ticket holders crowded into the museum Saturday afternoon, they were greeted by a huge tank filled with white tickets situated on the back of a vintage truck. With as much fanfare as could be mustered, Dale Walksler, museum founder and curator, first unveiled the 2018 raffle bike, a 1936 HarleyDavidson Knucklehead dressed in Venetian Blue and Croyden Cream paint. It is beautiful! But let’s get down to business here! Dale then directed human ticket stirrers into the tank to ensure the tickets were well mixed so all would have a fair chance. With the front row of judges stating their satisfaction with the ticket stirring, the first winner was pulled: Konnor Kick from Maryland got the phone call that he had won

The moment had arrived to pull the final ticket for the winner of the 1948 Harley-Davidson Panhead, and again, a phone call had to be made because the ticket holder was not in the audience. Congratulations to Tom Rohr of Tampa Bay, Florida. Better luck next time and thank you to all the approximately 100,000 ticket holders. Callison County Line Ride For The Cure By: Bill Gallaway The “first annual” CCL Ride For The Cure was held on October 21, 2017. This ride was held on behalf of one of our own long-time Star members that has been diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer. I arrived at the start, BP Motorsports at 10:15 am. The first rider out was scheduled for 11 am, so I had time to hand out the latest copy of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine to the riders. I knew many of the participants from being involved in the Star family myself since 2009. As I mentioned, this was a benefit for David Moon, AKA “Moonpie” to help with his medical expenses/treatments/travel expenses for cancer chemo. There were friends from Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Greenwood, Lancaster, Liberty, Orangeburg, Piedmont, Powdersville, and Summerville, SC, Buford, GA, Lumberton, NC, and Venice, FL to ride for the

cure. The poker run was a fun ride of approximately 50 miles through the backcountry of Greenwood and McCormick, SC all around the Callison County Line. The first and last draw was held at BP Motorsports with the second draw at Sports Break, the third at Wright’s Auto Collison Center/Robinson’s Detail Shop and the fourth draw at Michele’s Pizza in McCormick, SC. At the awards presentation, many of the players/riders never played poker before and were surprised by how the whole process worked. The first, second, and worst hand winners were truly winners since they turned around and donated their prizes to David Moon. After all was said and done I understand over $2,000 was raised for the cause. A truly fantastic amount for a fantastic guy. The event was wrapping up around 4 pm and many of the long-distance travelers began to head for home. It was a beautiful day for riding for a cause, and most of all a cure.

Electric City Bike Rally

By: Bill Gallaway The Upstate’s first ever bike rally was held on Saturday, September 30th. For those of you unfamiliar with the term Electric City it refers to Anderson, SC. It was a beautiful day that felt like fall was in the air, with temps in the 70’s and sunshine. The weather couldn’t have been better for the outside venue. I arrived shortly after the opening and there were already a good number of attendees mulling around the various vendors that were set up around the perimeter of the site at the Palmetto Moonshine Distillery in downtown Anderson, SC. I was impressed how In the center of all organized the vendors were this activity were the set up and thought that there bikes to be entered was something of interest in the bike show and for most attendees. There were event souvenir T’s and stereo competition. various other biker T’s and promotional T’s supporting our Veterans. Food was available from Barnwood Grill as well as cold beverages and water and, of course, moonshine. Also available were bike parts, hats and bandanas, jewelry, soap, and most other biker attire, i.e., chaps and vests. In the center of all of this activity were the bikes to be entered in the bike show and stereo competition. There were custom choppers, baggers, Softail, and metric bikes. Since the event had 13 hours to go, I decided to call it a day and not hang around for the 5 bands and musicians that were scheduled to appear. I’m sure it was a fantastic evening of music, as I was familiar with a few of the bands. Thanks to Ironhorse Motorcycle Lawyers and Timms Harley-Davidson for sponsoring and to all the vendors and musicians.

Veteran Receives Harley-Davidson Motorcycle By: Kris Weiss ScootinAmerica’s Adam Sandoval and his dog, Scooter, have teamed up with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company to give new motorcycles to some very deserving veterans. One of the lucky recipients, a resident of Raleigh, NC, received his 2018 Harley-Davidson® Street Glide® Special at Ray Price Harley-Davidson. Adam and his companion have crisscrossed this beautiful country countless times over the last few years visiting EVERY Harley® dealership along the way. His mission: to raise funds for veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project. He and Scooter have collected a large Facebook following of almost half a million people on their journey, keeping them updated with videos of his travels. The stage was set with Adam speaking in appreciation of all veterans as he addressed Jeremy and two other finalists. As he was sharing his passion for this mission, he asked Jeremy to come sit on his new bike, motioning him towards the Street Glide. With great surprise and amazement, Jeremy threw his leg over the brand-new Harley-Davidson and soon Harley-Davidson realized that it was really for him. 8th Annual Falling Leaf Ride For The Children By: Wally Wersching Southmountain was founded in 1903 in rural Rutherford County, NC as Golden Industrial Institute to provide basic education and industrial skills to the children of rural Rutherford, McDowell, and Burke counties. However, during the Great Depression, the focus changed to that of an orphanage to provide care for children. The ride started at the Oak Hill Fire & Rescue Department, on Hwy 181, north of Morganton, NC. The 100 mile ride went through the mountains of Western NC with two stops along the way, and ended at the Southmountain Children and Family Services in Nebo, NC (southmountain.org) where they all enjoyed a meal with the kids. Every entrant received an event t-shirt with their registration fee. All proceeds went to the Southmountain Children and Family Services. I read about the event in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar, and decided to go. The weather Saturday was chilly in the morning (40’s) with temps scheduled to rise to the 70’s by the afternoon. There was no rain in the area. I dressed in my cold weather gear - long johns and chaps along with a sweatshirt under my leather jacket. I left about 8:45 am heading north on Rte. 18. I checked, and the fastest route was supposed to be to take Rte. 18 to Morganton, and Rte. 181 north from there. It took a little over an hour, and I was comfortable – not cold at all. I was there a little before 10 am – when registration was supposed to start. When I arrived, there were only a few bikers there. I introduced myself to the man in charge, and gave him a stack of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazines for the registration table. He invited me to go inside to get a donut, and hot cup of coffee. I took him up on the donut, but I still don’t drink any coffee. I went back outside to mingle with the bikers. I usually don’t have many police friends but these guys were very friendly. We had some very pleasant conversations. All the while, more and more bikes came rolling in, most of them

thundering in, too. Some of them had very loud exhaust. I met a couple young men on sport bikes. We spent some time together. I was sharing my wisdom with them. One of the youngsters was only 16 years old, and by the way he talked, he was a very respectful and nice young gentleman. There is some hope for the future of motorcycling. There was a Scout Master with a couple of Boy Scouts selling raffle tickets to win a Ruger 10/22 rifle. Many of the bikers were buying tickets. I noticed that there were quite a few Can-Am Spyders in the group. I talked with one young lady about hers and she loved it – but not at first. She had to get used to it. Now she’s on her second one. Her trike had all kinds off extra flashing lights on it including an American Flag that lit up. As it got close to 11 am, people were getting anxious. They wanted to ride and after group meeting and prayer, they were ready. I looked at the route that was scheduled for the ride and all the roads were great mountain twisties. I’m sure that they all had a fun ride. At 11 am they left the lot heading north on Rte. 181. After they all left, I headed home. I decided to take the long way home through Glen Alpine. I looked at the map, and knew the way. The Rand-McNally website said that it would take an extra half hour if I went that way. It had warmed up so I didn’t care how long it took to get home. When I arrived in Glen Alpine, I stopped at the old mansion - “Aerie”. I love the look of that old building. I think that someone is trying to restore it. There was some equipment in the front lawn. I hope so because it is so unusual. I actually made it home quicker that it took me to get there – so much for the info at the Rand-McNally website.

1st Annual Heroes Homecoming Motorcycle Rally

Thompson, President Rolling Thunder NC 1, and Jody & Pam Shotwell, Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville Photo: VisitFayettevilleNC.com Veterans Day is a day to honor those who have served this great nation and this year Cumberland County laid out a special red carpet for those who served in Vietnam. Events took place throughout the area, from Hope Mills to Spring Lake to Eastover. There wasn’t a part of Cumberland County that wasn’t touched.

The Airborne and Special Operations Museum was host to the Vietnam Traveling Wall Memorial and a field of flags, each representing a cherished loved one who has or is serving in the military. Just over a half mile away something exciting was brewing, something Fayetteville and Cumberland County had never witnessed. Despite a chill in the air over 100 motorcycles began a trek from Ft. Bragg Harley-Davidson, out thru Cumberland County and ending at Festival Park where the roar of the motorcycles announced the beginning for the inaugural Heroes Homecoming Motor Cycle Rally. The Cumberland County Convention and Visitors Bureau along with Freedom Biker Church and Rolling Thunder NC1 worked together to bring a Fayetteville first in the Heroes Homecoming Motorcycle Rally. Ft. Bragg Harley-Davidson provided a unique VIP experience specifically for our Vietnam Veterans. A cushy, heated,

lounge area with catered food and drink welcomed the Vietnam Veterans in attendance. Both Baker American Cycles and Ft. Bragg Harley-Davidson had several bikes for everyone to check out including a demo bike at the Harley tent. Entertainment was on point as well. With a once in a lifetime line up of regional bands keeping things rocking. The Gray, Automag, When Forever Comes, Motor Junkie, The Fifth, Dixie Dust, and Several Devils put on a phenomenal show for the crowd. There were food trucks serving everything from hamburgers, fried chicken, and tacos to kettle corn and snow-cones. Merchandise vendors were also present selling things like biker gear, jewelry, and Amsoil alongside of various veteran services organizations. The Climbing Place set up a climbing wall for the kids. The River Community Church had Pastor Todd Brady’s restored ‘64 Chevy Pick-up on display by the prayer tent, as they offered prayers for those in need. Biker Church Fayetteville, had event shirts, patches, and limited-edition challenge coins for sale along with some handcrafted goodies from the Iron Angels. Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville also raffled off an AR-15 from Del-Ton Inc. in Elizabethtown. Congratulations to Mike Wyatt from Elizabethtown on winning the AR. The Bike Show was hosted by Killer Mans Sons MC and participants were given some amazing hand-crafted trophies from old motorcycle parts. Cape Beard Follicles of Freedom Biker Church hosted a beard and mustache contest and a tattoo contest was hosted by Cherry Blossom Studios and American Tattoo Society. To wrap up the event, John “Mr. E” Thompson, President of Rolling Thunder NC1, presented the Missing Man Table Ceremony in remembrance of over 83,000 American Servicemen who have yet to come home since WWI. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We Will Never Forget! For those who braved the cold, it was an amazing event in honor of an amazing group of people! There simply aren’t enough words to express our appreciation for our Veterans and specifically our Vietnam Veterans for their service and their sacrifice! Thank you, Veterans!

The 44th Annual CBA Fall Swap Meet And Bike Show

By: Buzz Looking for a good old school biker party? How about some parts for your scoot? Do you like good looking motorcycles, cold beer, and good music? Well you are in luck, my friends, cause twice a year the Charlotte CBA puts on their Swap Meet & Bike Show. Recently moved to the Rowan County Fair Grounds, this is the 44th Annual event for the Charlotte CBA. This event didn’t last that long without being one heck of a good time. I showed up at the fair grounds at 10:30 am on a 37º day to find a parking lot full of bikes. I didn’t expect that! The horseshoe path inside the fairgrounds was lined with vendors all displaying their goods. Gas tanks, pipes, handlebars, frames and every part in between covered tables and the ground in each vendor spot and a ton of bikers looking for that piece to finish off a build or replace something on their current ride. There were tables with some really new pieces and others with self-proclaimed “Cheap @ss Sh!+ for Cheap @ss

time friends from the different chapters of the NC CBA, Dexter and Shannon Rights from Tom McGrath’s Law Firm, Vince Cason of Vince’s Good As Gold, Jim Blair of Jim’s Motor Service, and of course, The Karney Law Firm, Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer Calendar Girls: Roxy and Leslie along with some of my favorite vendors. I milled around outside for a bit and then went to check out the vendors inside one of the two buildings on site. The first building was packed with more vendors including the His Laboring Few Biker Ministry where I got a minute with Ms. Pat and David Burnette always good to see them and then visited with Susan of STE Powersports, who has some of the best deals around on used Harleys. I’m telling ya, that place was packed with folks scooping up deals on parts, patches, and apparel. The other building on the premises houses the bike show. I’m glad I wasn’t judging that show because there was a ton of good looking bikes in there from antiques to custom baggers! Glen Merryman from Augusta, GA won the People’s Choice Award with this choice 2015 Indian. Tilley Harley-Davidson, who sponsors the Swap Meet & Bike Show, had a display in the bike show building and brought the newly unveiled 2018 Harley-Davidson Sport Glide, that gathered a crowd of curious motorcycle enthusiasts. Out of the 5 ladies, Kimberly, Hailey, and Whitney were the 3 cash winning finalists with Kimberly taking home a cool $100 for her efforts. I do believe the crowd was the real winner in that contest! A big thanks to Amy Harvell for coordinating this epic

part of the event! The same tent was later host to the wet t-shirt contest, too! As the shadows grew long across the fairgrounds the crowd began to thin and I headed out as well. It was a great day put on by the Charlotte CBA, whose main function is to stand up for the rights of all bikers in North Carolina. These are the folks who are working tirelessly to keep the politicians out of our rights as Americans and bikers. They deserve a big “thank you” for all that they do. I’m looking forward to the 45th Annual Swap Meet and Bike Show in the spring of 2018. If you’re into having a good time, you need to be there, too. 4th Annual Oconee And Pickens Counties Toys For Tots Toy Run By: Bill Gallaway On Sunday, October 29th, Oconee and Pickens County, South Carolina held their 4th Annual Toys For Tots Toy Run. It was a beautiful fall day with lots of sun and temps in the high 50’s. The run rally started at 1 pm with the ride beginning at 2 pm. It left the Seneca, SC Wal-Mart with a police escort and traveled thru Seneca and Clemson heading into Central, SC. There was a police escort due to the large number of bikes (72) and cars. The streets of all towns on our route were empty of traffic for the most part. However, the cross streets still needed to be blocked for us to pass by. There were police cruisers and a fire truck from Seneca, blocking a major intersection as we passed thru the downtown area. Clemson PD, Clemson Campus Police, and Central Police kept us safe on our ride. Those that did hear the roar of the thundering motorcycles ventured out to see what was going by. Veterans Day In Cleveland County

By: Wally Wersching Saturday, November 11th, was Veterans Day and Cleveland County had a celebration. There was a small parade, and then a ceremony at the center of town on the Court Square in front of the old Court House, which is now the Earl Scruggs Museum. The parade was scheduled for 10 am, and the ceremony was to be at 11 am. At 9 am, I arrived on the square in Shelby. There I met Bruce, one of the local sports car club members. We talked for a while, and then I walked to the parade’s staging area. The staging area was full of people standing around trying to stay warm. The temperature was in the mid 30’s with a little wind to add to the chill. I watched as the two high school bands were getting organized. There was one float – a small trailer pulled by a John Deere tractor. I saw a few people I knew along the way. We talked for a few minutes, and then I walked into town to get a good place to take pictures as the parade passed. There were only a few people along the parade route. It was pretty chilly, and the route was mostly in the shade where the onlookers couldn’t feel the warmth of the sun. At exactly 10 am, we heard the siren of a police car as it

led the parade down Lafayette Street toward the court square. Then we heard the first marching band. They were playing the theme songs of the different branches of the service. They were pretty good for high school kids, especially with instruments that were freezing cold. Many of the onlookers saluted as the colors passed. Then I watched as the many convertible cars drove by - some with politicians, and others with veterans inside. There was one carrying a WWII veteran. The Crest High School marching band was the first band to pass. Then there were more convertibles. Then the American Legion Post 82 passed carrying the flags of all the Many of the branches of the military onlookers saluted service. After that came the as the colors passed. American Legion members waving at the spectators as they walked past. The Shelby High School Marching Band was next. They played a few military marches as they passed. After the band, there was a long line of more cars – some classics and other newer ones. There was even a USMC Jeep. The occupants were waving frantically, probably trying to keep warm. There were two motorcycles in the parade. Both riders looked like they were dressed for the cold. At exactly 10:13, the last of the parade passed by me. It was a short parade but it was filled with people honoring their veteran’s heritage. I was glad that I had come, and stood in the cold to watch it. Hopefully it will be warmer next year. There was about a half hour before going to the ceremony on the courthouse steps so I went to the car to warm up. I was dressed for the cold but I was still chilled a bit. At about 10:45, I walked to the other side of the court square for the ceremony. There was a small crowd standing

around as well as sitting in the many chairs provided. In the crowd, I met a few friends like the ex-mayor of Shelby, Ted Alexander, who is now running for the NC Senate. We had a pleasant conversation. I met other friends, too, some I hadn’t seen since last year’s ceremony. It’s a very cordial setting. Then, the Civil Air Patrol, Shelby Composite Squadron posted the colors. After a minute or two, the Tonal Spectrum from Crest High School sang the National Anthem while everybody saluted the flag. It’s always a moving moment when people show reverence to the flag. After an invocation by Reverend Wesley Smith, the guest speaker, Willie B. McIntosh, spoke on behalf of all the veterans in all the wars. A lot of what he said hit home for many of the veterans in attendance. Then the Tonal Spectrum sang another song. They were harmonizing very well. After another prayer by the Reverend Wesley Smith, the colors were retired. That’s when the NC Foothill Detachment, Marine Corp League #1164 provided the three volleys, and the playing of Taps. I am always moved by the playing of Taps. 6th Annual Tribute To The Troops Memorial Ride And Concert

Story and photo by Evan Parton On October 21 – 22, the North Carolina Tribute To The Troops® Chapter held their 6th Annual Gold Star Memorial Ride and Concert. The North Carolina Chapter was organized six years ago with its inaugural ride visiting three Gold Star families. It is our intent to let these families know that the sacrifice their family made for this country will not be forgotten. Each year we plan out our ride to visit five or six new Gold Star families in the two-day rides to convey that message to them. Tribute To The Troops® was organized in 2004 in Minnesota by 82nd Airborne Army veteran, and country music star Rockie Lynne. With the establishment of the 529 College Fund, the organization has helped send 42 children of these fallen heroes to college. The North Carolina Chapter, since our first visits, has been able to establish over $13,000 in col-

lege funds for some of our fallen heroes, with the help of our corporate sponsors. It is our intent to extend our mission into all 50 states during the upcoming years, making sure that our fallen heroes are remembered and that their families understand our gratitude for their loss. By: Angelo Greco November 4th marked a special day in the Carolinas. On a cloudy Saturday, people from everywhere set out for their destination on the west side of Charlotte, NC. With the help of Judy at In The Wind Bar and Grill, a small venue called Tank Town Tavern would be the landing place for more than 300 motorcycles! Tara and Victoria, survivors of an unjust attack, who sustained life threatening injuries, did not ask for help or handouts, but our 2-wheeled family would not stand idle without providing help for two of the toughest, bravest women they know! Bikers from across the Carolinas rolled in all day long showing support 2nd to none! In excess of 8k was raised to help with medical expenses on that day alone. A special shout out to The Sinners, Bongo Bach, and Black Glass who provided live music for all and Ricky (Big Daddy Smooth) Holder Catering for provided the chow. 200,000 Miles Celebrated At Capital City Bike Nights By: Kris Weiss Bill Squier is a long-time customer of Ray Price Harley-Davidson. He currently rides a 1997 HarleyDavidson Softail® Springer which has taken him across America these past twenty years. Ray Price Harley-Davidson has been his go-to shop for most of his major services. Celebrating this historic journey at the October Capital City Bike Nights seemed only natural. With a crowd of nearly 100 people in attendance, local rockabilly band Hearts And Daggers kept everyone entertained. The host restaurant, Sammy’s Tap And Grill, excels in treating the bikers well. They reserve the entire parking lot for motorcycle parking and they always make sure to bring in great music. The bi-monthly event marked the final bike night of the season that takes place from March until October every first and third Tuesday night. Before Bill was recognized, Kris Weiss, the Marketing Director for Ray Price Harley-Davidson, gave away a few other awards as well. The first award went to Steve and Carolyn Blackwood. A Distinguished Ride With Distinguished Gentlemen By: Rick Gammons John Hill over at Select Cycle, the Triumph dealer in Greensboro, does not entertain the idea of doing things normally. Not that he is weird, he just believes in doing events in a different manner, i.e. The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride. I had never heard of this one before and was surprised how it was conducted. September 24th, men (and women) rolled into Greensboro sporting suits and ties, mostly bikes and a few other unique modes of transportation, all heading for Select Cycle to meet and ride with John. The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride is a yearly event worldwide for owners of Cafe Racers, Scramblers, Classics, Bobbers, and Modern Classics. In 2012, Mark Harwa decided to challenge the leather clad ruffians of the 50’s and 60’s. The ride is simple. Bring your ride, dress in fine tailored attire and try to raise as much money as possible for men’s prostate cancer and men’s suicide prevention. There are hundreds of riders in

At 9:30 am, coffee and donuts appeared inside the Triumph showroom as riders registered for the ride. There were some “colorful” ladies and gentlemen in attendance and I am sure they received some candid looks along the road course. Folks on motorcycles with suits and ties tend to rouse some questions and possible interest in the project, quite in contrast to the highway jackets and chaps you generally see on bikers in this area. KSU at 11 am. Seventy-four bikes and other vehicles left Select Cycle at 430 N. Elm Street, winding through Greensboro and into High Point. Everybody regrouped at Brown Truck Brewery on North Main. The group departed around noon and did a country route back to Greensboro, ending up at Natty Greene’s Kitchen + Market on Yanceyville Street. The route was very engaging, with some country, some rural, and some city roads. Everyone arrived satisfied with the variety offered by this journey. Bikes parked on brand new pavement in the parking area and photographers took pics of the riders and their vehicles. It was a kinda cool ending to an interesting day. Riders broke into smaller groups and ventured down to Revolution Square where some food trucks were serving some interesting street fare. Bikers also dined and had drinks at Natty Greene’s Kitchen. Eventually everyone left, carrying away memories of a most unusual day and being part of a huge contribution (over $7900) to men’s health and the Movember Foundation (https:// us.movember.com). Ray Price Harley-Davidson Veterans Day Celebration And BBQ Cook-Off By: Kris Weiss The stage was set for an amazing celebration of our nation’s veterans with 14 barbecue cooking teams preparing to hunker down for an all-nighter of cooking. After a Friday evening cook’s meeting, which included picking their judge’s blind numbers, the cookers hauled their pig out of the truck and began to season and prepare their masterpiece. The teams were lined up on the grass just opposite the dealership. There were various contraptions of cookers with tents near or even containing the pig cookers. With an evening low of 30º F, those who had the cookers inside their tents were enjoying about 80º of fabulous warmth. Various bearded men were being recruited for the Best Beard Contest. A few of the humble beards had to be dragged to the sign up table. The judges were the first ones to offer their opinions on the delicacies. The judges were Meg Here And There (blogger), Andrew Ladner from the US Veterans Corps, and Floyd Baker from Freedom Biker Church. They quickly consumed the 14 different varieties of BBQ and agreed that most of them were exceptional. The rest of the attendees began sampling at Noon. Patrons lined up in the street at each of the cooking teams trying them each one by one. People were sharing with each other which one they thought was the best. Some were agree-

ing with each other and others professed their favorite team with a different name. The Best Beard Contest was announced from the stage and about 13 contestants came forward. The judges from Mountain Man Beard Products announced the top three Best Beards and the audience was given the opportunity to vote using the “scream” method. As each of the three contestants stepped forward, the crowd cheered for their favorite, and it was a close call. Third Place went to Bill Wadkinson, Second Place went to Scott Robinson with Patrick Hale taking home the plaque for First Place. The winners of the BBQ Contest by the judges’ blind taste sampling were; Third Place: site # 3 Dirty Dave’s, Second Place: site # 2 Big Al’s BBQ, and First Place went to site # 10 Slapshot BBQ. The People’s Choice Trophy went to site # 4 Carolina Moe’s BBQ. The biggest winners of the day were our veterans. Over $3000 was raised for the US Veterans Corps. This organization helps to build homes for wounded soldiers through Operation Coming Home and they collect toys for children of low income or deployed troops through their Toys For Lil Troops program. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to the next cook-off, the Butt Pickin’ Contest on March 17, 2018. There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no actual address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read - Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension payment. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope... Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, “I’m very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed your ‘What Would Jesus Do’ bumper sticker, the ‘Choose Life’ license plate holder, the ‘Follow Me to Sunday-School’ bumper sticker, and the chromeplated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car.”

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it might have been those bastards at the post office. Sincerely, Edna A couple was Christmas shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve and the mall was packed. As the wife walked through the mall she was surprised to look up and see her husband was nowhere around. She was quite upset because they had a lot to do. Because she was so worried, she called him on her mobile phone to ask him where he was. In a calm voice, the husband said, “Honey, you remember the jewelry store we went into about 5 years ago where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we could not afford and I told you that I would get it for you one day?” The wife choked up and started to cry and said, “Yes, I remember that jewelry store.” He said, “Well, I’m in the bar right next to it.

A man and woman were breaking up and as she was walking out the door, the man, still caring said: Take care and all the best. Please, if it is only one word, let me know how you’re doing. About a month or so later, the man receives a letter in the mail with a note in it. The note had just one word.... Harley. The man sat there, scratching his head trying to figure out what the note meant, so he went to see a buddy of his to see if he might know. His buddy looks at the note and figured the best way to find out would be to go down to the Harley dealership and see if they might find a clue there. As they were pulling up to the dealership they noticed a large sign in front of the dealership saying: “Harley… Bigger, Better, and 6 Inches Longer”. There were two buddies, one with a Doberman Pinscher and the other with a Chihuahua. The guy with the Doberman Pinscher says to his friend, “Let’s go over to that restaurant and get something to eat.” The guy with the Chihuahua says, “We can’t go in there. We’ve got dogs with us.” The first guy

The bear dropped his right arm, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke, “Lord, bless this food, which I am about to receive. Amen.”

Barry “Old Dog” Glenn 11th Annual Toys For Tots Ride, Kick Start By: Rose and Lloyd Double D’s Burnout Saloon located at 1408 E. Mountain Street in Kernersville, NC sponsored their annual cook off on November 4th to kick off the 11th Annual Barry “Old Dog” Glenn Toys For Tots Ride. Recil Henry Cox, 91, of Asheboro, died Thursday, September 14th, 2017, at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro, NC. Recil was born January 4, 1926, as the eldest child of a farming family in rural Randolph County. In 1961, Mr. Cox founded Cox’s HarleyDavidson with his wife, Betty. The original facility was located in a two-bay garage next door to their home on Crestview Church Road. Until 1963, Recil was employed as a mechanic at a local mill during the day and the dealership was open in the evenings. Through the decades, the garage was added onto, piece by piece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sheffield Cox; sons, Jerry and Gary “Poochie” Cox; and sister, Berta Mae Cox Spencer. The family received friends on Saturday, September 16th at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro. Pastor Jerry Johnson officiated the graveside service at Randolph Memorial Park on Sunday, September 17th.

By: Wally Wersching “Dunk”, a member of the Dixie Drifters was riding his motorcycle with another local rider in mid-September when all of a sudden, the other biker lost control of his motorcycle, and ran in front of “Dunk”. “Dunk” tried to avoid hitting the other bike which caused his bike to hit the curb, and go down. “Dunk” suffered many injuries including a broken collar bone. His bike was a mess, too. The other guy only got a little road rash on his arm. Since then, “Dunk” hasn’t been able to work, much less fix or ride his damaged bike, so the club wanted to help by holding a benefit Dice Run for “Dunk”. His bike was On Saturday, October a mess, too. 28th, a benefit Dice Run For “Dunk” was held at the Dixie Drifters clubhouse at 1157 W. Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia, NC. Registration started at 12:00 noon, and the last bike left at 1 pm. There were three more stops on the run. First was Tony’s Bar just across the Catawba River Bridge off Wilkinson Boulevard in West Charlotte. Second was back in Gastonia at the Winner’s Circle Bar on Franklin Boulevard. The last stop was at the Southern Gentlemen’s Clubhouse. All

it enters Gastonia), and arrived at the clubhouse a few minutes after noon. The skies had cleared on my way to Gastonia, and it was sunny and warm when I stopped. I was happy to see the parking lot was full of motorcycles with more arriving every minute. I walked into the clubhouse to see “Bull” and “Dunk” at the table collecting money for the run and raffle tickets. The place was jammed with people. Some of the bikers who couldn’t go on the ride were giving “Dunk” money for his bills. It was a very heartwarming sight. “Ears” was behind the bar dealing out liquid refreshment to the participants. “Cuzz” from the Gastonia Chapter of the GOC (Guardians Of The Children) came in and we talked for a while. The GOC is a group determined to stop child abuse wherever they find it. I had time to talk with “Dunk”, and learned that he’s healing OK, but it’s taking too long for him. He wants to be able to go to work again, and ride his bike. He has friends who are helping to rebuild the bike – someone to paint the tank, and others finding parts to replace the damaged ones. I brought my old chaps to the event to put them as a prize for the raffle. They are used but still good enough to keep legs warm when riding in the cold. Instead of placing them in the raffle, “Dunk” said that he could use them, so now they are his. I walked into the parking lot in time to see a couple Victory motorcycles roll in. I was surprised to see “New York” riding a 2017 Victory Octane. He had talked about getting one before but couldn’t find the right one. The one he decided on had only 2 miles on it, and he got it for a great price. He loves it! The other was an older Victory Vegas Jackpot – all black. It looked mean, and with the aftermarket exhaust, it sounded mean too. Not too loud, but loud enough to let you know that it was bad! Before we knew it, it was time to leave. “Cuzz” had a safety meeting along with a prayer before they left to go to Tony’s. When riding in a large group, it’s always good to remind everybody about the hand signals used, and what they mean. The prayer is always a good thing when we put our lives at risk during the run. Many left in a large group with “Cuzz” leading the way. I walked to the stoplight to take pictures of the riders as they went by. I especially liked the vintage Coca-Cola sign as a backdrop. It added a lot of color to the shots. After they all passed, I went back in the clubhouse to say good-by to “Bull”, “Ears”, “Dunk”, and the rest of the club members who were still there. I hope that the next time I see “Dunk” he’ll be all healed, and riding his bike. I rode home under sunny skies – enjoying the ride all the way. Afterwards, I took Cindy out for a nice lunch at our favorite restaurant – Italian Garden in Boiling Springs, NC.

Riding 4 Shay

By: Rick Gammons Shay Black loves to ride. We all do. And a significant amount of us like to ride to work. We know the risk, but hope it doesn’t find us. It found Shay riding to work on September 5th on Eastchester Drive in High Point, NC. A hit and run driver nailed her and kept on going. Good thing he was arrested before biker brothers and sisters found him. Biker justice is not something you want to be on the wrong side of. Shay has life threatening injuries (brain trauma, fractured skull, broken collarbone, and broken ribs). Jeff, at JJ’s Watering Hole in Greensboro, took up the challenge to help Shay. On October 21st, bikes and bikers rolled into JJ’s to help Jeff help a fallen sister. It was good to see that many people there to have a good time and help with Shay’s

massive expenses. After greetings, handshakes, and hugs, roughly sixty-eight motorcycles left out of the parking lot and headed for Double D Burnout Saloon. This “short” ride took nearly three hours to complete. Along the way, the ride picked up a few more bikers and headed back to JJ’s. It was a special treat to see that many motorcycles in formation, something you do not see as much of lately. When the riders got back, fundraising continued on into the afternoon and evening. Included was a 50/50, prizes, silent auction, games, and plenty of good music. And there was BBQ by Fatman Young. All proceeds for this event went toward Shay’s enormous expenses and rehabilitation. Her road is a long one at this point. She will need to learn to walk again and speech therapy. The driver who hit Shay was arrested. I do not know the outcome of this coward, but let’s hope that justice will be swift and fair. Shay needs your prayers for her recovery. If you want to help her, ride down to JJ’s Watering Hole at 536 Farragut St., Greensboro and see Jeff. Get you a couple of beers and get whatever information you need to help this beautiful young biker. Be part of something big!

Confederates MC Bike Rodeo By: Bill Gallaway The weekend of September 22 - 23 were the dates for the 2017 Confederates MC Bike Rodeo and Swap Meet. This year it was held at the Old Outpost Bar & Grill in Starr, SC. When I arrived on Saturday, the events were already underway. The Bike Show had several entries in the Custom, Metric, Bagger, Rat Bike, Vintage, and Best of Show. Just walking through the parking lot on the way in I saw a few bikes I felt should have been in the running. Oh well, I’m not a judge, just saying. While I was checking out the various vendors I ran into many friends I’ve made over the years and most always seem to run into at these events. Great minds think alike. While

many folks were watching or participating in the bike games, others remained in the shade with a cold beverage visiting with friends. The weekend couldn’t have been much better sunny and temperatures in the 80’s. The bike games scheduled were the traditional Slow Ride, Weenie Bite, Barrel Roll, Road Kill, and more, along with some new ones. CCIB Benefit For Colby Whiteside By: Wally Wersching In August 2015, Colby was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) which is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. He underwent chemo until January 2016. Afterwards, he went to Duke University to receive a bone marrow transplant. The family lived there for about 3 months, and then came home to resume as normal of a life as they could. Everything was fine, and he started 2nd grade in 2017. In October 2017 he relapsed, and is now receiving chemo again at Mission Memorial in Asheville. He will have a few cycles of chemo, and then they will decide if he

In October 2015, when the CCIB learned about Colby’s battle, they put on a “Ride For Colby” to raise money to help the family. It was a big success, and many bikers rode for Colby. I was there, and had a great time. This time, the CCIB came to 7 year old Colby’s aid again with a full day of fundraising for Colby, and his family. On November 11th, it all started at the CCIB clubhouse at 11 am with the Turkey Shoot. At 2:30 pm, they had a Texas Hold’em tournament. Then at 5 pm, they had a Cornhole Tournament under the lights in the field behind the clubhouse. The day came to a climax with a concert by “Rocky Yelton and the Hired Guns” at 8 pm. It was a day long dedication to helping Colby and his family. I arrived at the club house at about 2 pm. I was surprised to see only one more bike parked in front. Usually the whole front is lined with motorcycles. I went inside and met a few of the members. They all thanked me for writing the article about Miss Donna’s Birthday Bingo Run. They enjoyed seeing it in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. In the next room was a couple tables covered with baked goods. Every one had a list attached where people could write their bid. A few had multiple bids running pretty high from people who really wanted those items. In the front of the clubhouse, I met a couple Windjammers. We sat on the bench in the sun, and talked for a while. When

the Texas Hold’em tournament started, I said good-by. I’m going to watch for any future events, they are always fun, and for a good cause.

Watch Your Mouth Bros & Bro-ettes A lot of people don’t realize how badly they hurt people with the way they speak to them, and what comes out of their mouth. We say stuff before we realize it, then it’s too late to take it back. They might say they forgive you, but deep down the harm is done. A lot of times we hear stuff about someone and we’re not sure if it’s true or not, but instead of finding out if it’s true or not, we want to add stuff and pass it on. Instead of passing it on and talking about that person, we need to stop and pray about it and see what God would have us to do about the situation. Often, we make promises to ourselves and to God to do better and to stop gossiping. We all really try, but most of the times it never happens or it never lasts very long. That’s because we are trying to change our words and not changing our thoughts. We need to look at ourselves from the inside out and find out what’s going on. You’ve heard that out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. We allow Satan to fill our minds with all kinds of stuff; critical and harsh thoughts. You can tell a lot about a person by what comes out of their mouth. Jesus said, “a tree is known by its fruit”. The same is true of our lives. Everything begins with a thought. If we allow negative and unkind thoughts to fill our minds, they bear fruit. If we dwell on the bad things, then we’ll produce bad fruits. Just remember, out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Kind or judgmental words don’t just come to us, they come out of our mouth because we have nurtured them in our minds. The more we pray and open ourselves to the Holy Spirit’s positive and loving thoughts, and the more we read God’s Word, the more good fruit we produce on the inside. Then the good fruit will show on the outside by the way we talk and treat others. Matthew 7:3-5 And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own. 4- How can you think of saying, Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye, when you can’t see past the log in your own eye. 5- Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Prayer: Dear loving and forgiving God, I ask you to forgive us for all the harsh things we’ve said about other people. Also, please forgive us for allowing harsh thoughts to fill our minds, about ourselves or about others. I know we can’t make ourselves more loving, but You can.
