don’t know about you, but here at Full Throttle Magazine, its has-been roller coaster year. Or maybe, I’m just getting older and the years are going by faster. At any rate, it’s been a good year. Reflecting on the past year, we’d like to say we are grateful to all our patrons who trust us to promote their business. We also thank all our sales reps who work tirelessly to cover events and promote their clients’ interests. Then there is the myriad of folks who send in their benefit runs for the Cruisin’ Calendar, thereby inviting other bikers to assist in the effort. We appreciate you all. We are looking forward to attending and reporting on the long list of Toy Runs in the month of December. Check out the Cruisin’ Calendar and pick ya out one, there are 12 Toy Runs on December 1st alone!! There seems to be a lot of need out there. Isn’t it great we can do something we love - ride motorcycles - and end up helping those in need. When we’re finished seeing to needy kids’ Christmas, we can all settle down to burn our own Yule Log and celebrate the greatest birthday the world has ever known, that of Baby Jesus. We hope you all can sit back at the end of this year and reflect on a year well lived - you did all the things you wanted to do, rode as many back roads as you could find, and partied with your friends. Bought a new (or new to you) bike? Good for you. If you haven’t accomplished all you wanted to, then you have already started your New Year’s Resolutions! A very Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year, too!

Black Cat Harley-Davidson Wheels & Wings By: Johnny Reb he morning of 10 Nov was cold. Just putting that out there right now, man I just can’t do the cold like I used to! However, I represent a biker magazine that is owned and run by bikers, so I ride to these events on, you guessed it my bike! Sassy and I hit the road around 1000 and headed to one of my favorite dealers of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Black Cat Harley Davidson in Rocky Mount. We had a nice ride, opting for back roads instead of the interstate. We arrived just as the bikes were really piling in. I’m telling you, some of y’all out there have some really beautiful bikes. The wings and fixins were already laid out buffet style and the hungry folks were digging in. The food was delicious, and everyone was having a great time eating and talking motorcycles. That kind of covers the wings part of this story, let’s get to the wheels part. This dealership can be described with one word, class. The staff is a class act. The GM, Chaz Cole, is also a class act. When you walk into Black Cat Harley-Davidson you get treated like you are their number one priority, and you are. Whether you are interested in a used bike or one of the many new bikes they have, you are going to be treated with the utmost respect. It doesn’t matter if it’s sales or service, or the parts staff, you will be satisfied. They have a showroom full of new and used bikes. If you don’t see exactly what you want, no sweat they can pull from hundreds of bikes that they have in their other five dealerships. They even have a Tri Glide that is a factory custom. It is, get

this, 1 of 8 in the whole country. If that isn’t enough, they have a Heritage Softail with custom paint that is a one-off bike! You could be that one scooter tramp on a bike no one else has, these days of cookie cutter bikes that’s tough! The whole thing comes down to this. Black Cat HarleyDavidson put on a great day of food and fun. Chaz handed out some cool door prizes, everyone stuffed their gobs, and few lucky folks left on a new scoot. All in all, a great day was had by all. By: Bill Gallaway n Sunday, October 28th, Oconee and Pickens County South Carolina held their Toys for Tots run. The day was a beautiful fall day with full sun and temps in the high 60’s. The Run Rally started at 1:00 with KSU at 2:00. It left The Seneca SC Walmart with a police escort and traveled through Seneca, Clemson, and Central to the Central SC Walmart. There was a police escort due to the large number of bikes (92 of which about 40 were 2 up) and 5 Jeeps. I think I even saw Santa, who took time out of his busy schedule to ride in the parade. Last year, the program helped Santa provide new Christmas toys to 452 children that would not have had a Christmas. Thanks to everyone in the community that helped. Many thanks again this year to Mike Fieseler and Bobbie Smith of Oconee ABATE and Lieutenant Mark Bolden of the Central Police Department and the Marine Corp League of Oconee County. It ended up being a joyful day for all participants and observers and a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Shelton’s Harley-Davidson Toy Ride By: Johnny Reb want to start this article out by saying, no matter your race or religion or your political beliefs, we as bikers can all agree on one thing. Every child deserves a good Christmas. Shelton’s Harley-Davidson and the Goldsboro HOG chapter saw to that on Saturday, November 3rd. Sassy and I left the house around 1000, it was chilly but a beautiful sunny day. We rode the 44 miles to Shelton’s HarleyDavidson in Smithfield, which was the starting point of their annual toy ride. When we arrived, the place was really filling up with bikes of every make and model. Danny from the HOG Chapter signed us in, we parked the bike and had a good walk around to meet the generous bikers who rode out to make a nice Christmas for the kids. Sassy took some great pictures, and everyone was willing

to have their picture taken, and talk with me. They all love Full Throttle Magazine! We met people from all over the great state of North Carolina and even a couple from Pennsylvania! The bikes were an eclectic mix of dressers, bobbers, choppers and Customs. I also want to include some on crotch rockets. Trikes were in attendance also, the prevalent being Harleys, however there were a few Japanese models and one gorgeous Indian that always seemed to have some curious onlookers. When registration ended at 1200, we had instructions given and a prayer for a safe ride, which Our Lord was gracious enough to grant. Our escort, the Smithfield PD, led us out onto

Highway 70 east and with Santa in front we started our ride to Shelton’s Harley-Davidson in Goldsboro. Now, I have been on many toy rides in my life, but this had to be one of the smoothest I have ever been on. As we passed from Smithfield to Selma, the Selma PD picked us up. Johnston Co. Sheriff’s department was blocking every exit and intersection right to the Wayne Co line, where Wayne Co. Sheriff’s department and Goldsboro PD escorted us right into Shelton’s Harley-Davidson. When we arrived, everyone lined up to drop off their toy to Boy Scout Troop 14 and grab a plate of food. The food was provided by the Rosewood Fire Department. A huge BBQ sandwich, fries and coleslaw, and to say it was delicious just does not do it justice! After filling our bellies, it was time to head back to Snow Hill. Closing this out I want to thank the people who put this on, of course Shelton’s Harley-Davidson, Goldsboro HOG chapter, Christy who helped coordinate the chaos, and if I forgot anyone, I’m truly sorry. As you all know I always try to include the MC’s and RC’s. These are the ones that I got and remember if you don’t see your name, no disrespect intended. The Wall That Heals By: Ed Cleary n Tuesday, October 16, I had the honor and privilege to be among the hundreds of patriots who turned out to escort the Wall That Heals from Youngsville, NC to Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest, NC. The motorcyclists, arriving in groups and alone, and from all over the state, gathered in the Food Lion parking lot on US 1 in Youngsville, for staging. Event organizers from the Wake Forest Purple Heart Foundation met each bike upon arrival to shepherd them to their appropriate spots for staging. Riders who were Viet Nam Veterans were given positions of honor ahead of the truck. This was to be the “WELCOME HOME” many of them never received and is so long overdue. The USO was also present handing out water and refreshments. The Wall That Heals exhibit features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. Visitors experience The Wall rising above them as they walk towards the apex, a key feature of the design of The Wall in D.C. Like

the original Memorial, The Wall That Heals is erected in a chevron-shape and visitors can do name rubbings of individual service member’s names on The Wall. The replica is constructed of Avonite, a synthetic granite, and its 140 numbered panels are supported by an aluminum frame. Machine engraving of

nated to VVMF by the American Gold Star Mothers in 2012, the bike is a Softail Custom Harley that pays tribute to the mothers who lost sons to the Vietnam War. At precisely 11:00, law enforcement officers from the Youngsville Police, the Franklin County Sheriffs, Wake Forest Police and the Wake County Sheriff’s Departments led the group out for the 20 mile, circuitous route to Wake Forest. Each turn of the journey was marked by fire trucks or municipal utility vehicles, all flying large American flags or patriotic banners. Along the way thousands of people lined the streets waving flags and cheering as the procession passed. The wall was open to the public, free of charge, through Sunday, October 21. Wake Forest is the only North Carolina city to host the Wall that Heels on its 2018 tour. Paducah, KY, is the wall’s next stop on its journey across America.

16th Annual Catawba County Shriners Poker Run Story and photo by Alan Dockery he weekend after Hurricane Florence rescheduled motorcycle events, a good crowd of bikers showed up to ride on the 16th Annual Catawba County Shrine Club’s Poker Run. I remember sixteen years ago when several of us started a local charity ride and picked the Shriners to raise some more for. I’ve been on all of those rides for a great cause. Supporting the Oasis Shrine Temple, the ride raises money for Shriners Children’s Hospitals. As folks rolled in from the afternoon ride, the Newton, NC, Shrine Club parking lot filled with bikers. While folks turned in their hands, the Shriners served all the riders and volunteers some real good BBQ and fixins. Once we finished eating, it was time to go outside for some door prizes and to announce the winners. There were lots of great door prizes and Mike Bitts from Mt. View, won the 50/50 pot. Dennis Grigg coordinated the event and said, “Terri and I would like to thank everyone who turned out to support the Catawba County Shrine Club’s 16th Annual Shriners Run.The turnout was great.” “Our winners this year were; Chancey Hicks, Conover, for worst hand, Brian Walker for Third Best Hand, Dave Fair, Hickory, Tenth Legion MC, for Second Best Hand, Dave donated the $250.00 back. A Sunday Afternoon Ride

By Wally Wersching ast Sunday afternoon was a great fall day with sunny skies, and temps in the upper 60’s. It was so nice that I just had to go for a ride. I didn’t have a plan, I just wanted to ride. I headed west on Rte. 74. There are many roads to ride in that direction. I veered to the right to go onto Business 74. When I was riding through Ellenboro, I remembered a unique place I saw the last time I visited the Washburn store. I took a different route and saw a very patriotic field in the middle of nowhere. I turned right just before the railroad crossing. It’s a two lane that goes past the local school. I turned left onto Tiney Road. After about a mile traveling through residential area, the field was on the left. I parked in the grass near the road. The field consists of many flags, American, and other US military flags, along with plywood silhouette cutouts of American soldiers painted black. There were also many rose bushes planted throughout the display. There was a stiff breeze which made the flags flutter, and stand out straight. It was easy to see that many of the flags had seen better days. Some were only a remnant of the original. I looked for some sort of identification as to who built the display but could not find anything. Whoever did it spent a lot of time making the silhouettes, erecting the flag poles, and planting the rose bushes along with adding the mulch. It was a

beautiful display! I continued heading west, and eventually turned left onto Bostic-Sunshine Highway in Bostic. I rode south until I turned left onto Business Rte. 74. After riding a few miles, I stopped in Ellenboro. I had noticed an old VW Bus that looked like it was leaning against the building. I had to take a picture of that. I continued riding east, and stopped at a large building with many vehicles parked around it. One car was an old Datsun 280Z that had seen better days. The tires were falling off the rims because it had been sitting there for a long time. I walked toward the back of the lot because I had seen a couple old Dodges the last time I was there a few years ago. They were still there but the two-door hardtop was almost completely hidden by the overgrowth and abandoned trucks. The one I could see was a Dodge Custom 880 four-door sedan. It was complete but in rough condition. The hidden one was a Dodge Coroner 440 two-door hardtop. I walked back to the bike and headed east on Rte. 74 Business until it merged with Rte. 74. I rode on it all the way to Shelby. I got home in time to see the Formula 1 race. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Rocktoberfest At Smokin’ Harley-Davidson

By Caroline ocktoberfest at Smokin’ Harley-Davidson is all about treats rather than tricks. This year’s event on October 27, was filled with lots of fun and excitement. Also, the weather cooperated giving us a great sunny fall day! The dealership was decked out with vendors, and the Winston-Salem HOG chapter selling lots of good things to eat. In keeping with the season, your favorite sales associates were dressed in a variety of costumes. A great band, The Blue Genes, was on hand to entertain and build up momentum for the highlight of the day—a drawing for a new HarleyDavidson Street 500 bike! Folks had the opportunity to pre-register for a chance to win this great looking bike at Smokin’ or through 107.5 KZL. There was also an opportunity for late entries prior to the drawing. However, promptly

at 1 pm, General Manager, Ray Perry announced the rules: all the tickets drawn up to the last 10 would be eliminated. The final 10 contestants would receive a key and whichever key started the bike that holder would be the winner. After a couple of folks could not start the bike with their keys, the third contestant, Patrick from Winston-Salem was the surprised and happy winner. Riders For Rescue Presents Paw Project At The Doghouse

By Trisha Photo by Chi Force he “Riders for Rescue” took place on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Registration was held appropriately at The Doghouse on Owen Drive in Fayetteville, NC. The organizer/sponsor Renee McMillan Muffett planned the event that was previously rained out in Shelton. Registration began at The Doghouse at noon. Kick Stands were up at 1 p.m. The ride was a great trip down towards the county of Bladen. After returning the Riders for Rescue returned to Fayetteville and met at Legends Pub. The group had an awesome trip and made some money for the fur-babies. Everyone seemed to have a great time! The Paw Project Community Outreach volunteers make all the difference. These individuals give their time to make the best situation for animals and our community of animal lovers. This “Riders for Rescue” run is just one of the many things that these hard-working volunteers do to support the cause. Paw Project Community Outreach is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal rescue that was formed in 2014. They help the community with abandoned and neglected animals by providing vetting needs, food and shelter. In addition to the muchneeded love and affection these animals deserve. The outreach project is to help animals stay in their current homes instead of being turned over to shelters or abandonment. For the animals that are abandoned, they help them get immediate vet care, find fosters and forever homes! It was expressed that “We are not professionals.” What they certainly are pros at is compassion! They step in and help because they see the need. Rescue is not cheap, this is why we fundraise, and work daily to get the necessary donations to pay our vetting and provide the needs for these animals. Rescue is not free, so they encourage you to VOLUNTER! The reward is in the face of each and every animal you assist or save! Paw Project Community Outreach is the voice of abandoned

Deathwish Motor Culture Bike Night By: Jeremy Lomogda n November 3rd, the Deathwish Motor Culture crew rolled up I-95 to Norfolk Virginia for their November Bike Night at Mojo Bones Bar and Restaurant. The event started at 4pm, with dozens of bikes already parked out front of the bar well before the event kicked off. There was a large crowd from local motorcycle clubs, to two wheel enthusiasts that kept the bar tenders busy. The event consisted of a ride ...ripping wheelies in free bike show, and trophies were awarded to up and down the Best Bike of the Night, street in front of Best Bagger, Best Dyna, the bar. Best Softail and Best Chopper. Deathwish had a booth inside at the event and they were selling some of the greatest and latest gear that has hit their online store, as well as selling raffle tickets. Although there were several items to be raffled, including a cash prize of over $300, The Deathwish Crew was raising money, to provide gift packages for the homeless in Hampton Roads for Thanksgiving Day. Last Thanksgiving was their first attempt in providing small meals, clothing, as well as

complimentary air plane bottles of booze and cigarettes to help bring a little extra joy to them on Thanksgiving morning. Bike Night ended in usual fashion, with the Deathwish Stunt Crew putting on a show for the crowd, ripping wheelies up and down the street in front of the bar. 9th Annual Falling Leaf Ride for the Children By Wally Wersching outhmountain was founded in 1903 in rural Rutherford County, NC as Golden Industrial Institute to provide basic education and industrial skills to the children of rural Rutherford, McDowell, and Burke counties. However, during the Great Depression, the focus changed to that of an orphanage to provide care for children. The name was changed to “Southmountain” to reflect the beautiful mountain range surrounding its location. In 1935, the agency moved to its present home near Lake James, in Western Burke County, NC. There has been a dramatic increase in the number of children coming into care from extremely violent home situations. The overall goal is to begin a healing process for them in a loving environment, along with services to families to facilitate reunification or adoption whenever possible. Southmountain Children and Family Services has become known as an innovator of quality programs by creating the State’s only “Foster Community” which improves the quality of life for children in care by providing the positive aspects of group care

in a traditional family foster care setting. On October 20th, the 9th Annual Falling Leaf Ride for the Children was sponsored by the Blue Knights North Carolina Chapter XXIII “Foothills Posse”. The Blue Knights group is composed of active and retired policemen. The ride was to

start at the Oak Hill Fire & Rescue Department, on Hwy 181, north of Morganton, NC. The 100-mile ride was scheduled to go through the mountains of Western NC with two stops along the way, and end at the Southmountain Children and Family Services in Nebo, NC where they all would enjoy a meal with the kids. Every entrant received an event t-shirt with their registration fee of $20.00. All proceeds went to the Southmountain Children and Family Services. I read about the event in the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar, and after attending last year’s event, I decided to go. The weather Saturday was chilly in the morning (50’s). There was light rain predicted in the area, but after that, it was supposed to be sunny with temps near 70 in the afternoon. I left about 8:45am heading north on Rte. 18. I followed it to Morganton and went straight onto Rte. 181 north from there. It took a little over an hour, with rain all the way – some light but mostly heavy. I wasn’t sure if there would even be a run this year with all the rain in the area. It had stopped raining after I left Morganton, and the roads were almost dry. When I arrived at the Oak Hill Fire and Rescue Department at a little before 10:00am, when registration was supposed to start, there was only one bike in the lot along with a few cars and trucks. I parked in the drive next to the lot. I introduced myself to the man in charge and gave him a stack of Carolinas’ Full Throttle magazines for the registration table, along with a December 2017 issue with the article of last year’s event. He invited me to go inside to get hot cup of coffee. I declined because I still don’t drink coffee. I stayed outside to mingle with the bikers who drove their cars and trucks to the event. I usually don’t have many police friends, but these guys were very friendly. We had some very pleasant conversations. All the while, more bikes came rolling in from time to time. One rider was a lady that we could see from a long way off because of her bright orange rain suit.

After a while, a couple Can-Am Spyders pulled in, and backed into their spots along the curb. They are very unique motorcycles with two front wheels and one rear drive wheel. Owners really love them. They are very stable – even in the rain. Even though it had not started raining again, only Blue Knights club members showed up. They had a plan because of the rain the area. They would go for a ride, and then meet again at the Fire and Rescue at about 2:00pm for the ride straight to the home. The sky was clearing north of us, and most of the bikers wanted to go for a ride. A few left before 11:00 and promised to be back later. The main group (5 bikes) left about 11:15 heading north on Rte. 181. As I was walking back to the car, the man in charge offered me an event t-shirt for just showing up and writing about the event. I thanked him and continued back to the car. After they all left, I headed home. I decided to take the long way home. After turning left from the Rescue, I turned right on the first small road. I followed the road as it meandered through some residential areas until it came to Rte. 126. Last year, I turned left but this year I decided to turn right and went toward Lake James. Rte. 126 is a very twisty and scenic road. It wasn’t raining so I had a very enjoyable drive. I stopped at a favorite docking area and took a few pictures. Then I followed it all the way past the Lake James State Parks into Marion. From there, I took Rte. 226 all the way back to Shelby. It started to rain again on the way home but later in the afternoon, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. I’ll go to the Falling Leaf Run next year. It’s always fun – even when there aren’t too many riders.

The Chief’s Ride By:WildThing he Chief’s Ride was held on Saturday, October 27th. The weather wasn’t exactly grand, but at least it wasn’t’ raining. I’m sure that was a disappointment for all the work and planning that goes into a fund raiser like this. The recipient of the fund-raising efforts of Chief Wayne Scott of the Greensboro Police Department, and his companions was the North Carolina Special Olympics. Chief Scott mentioned that back in the day, Special Olympics was a one competition per year occurrence. But now, there are several games that are held for the over 40,000 NC Special Olympians all throughout the year. This naturally translates into year-round fund raising and Special Olympics is a NC Law Enforcement Charity. So, Chief Scott, a former motor officer himself, chose a motorcycle ride as this year’s effort and enlisted the help of motor officers from his Greensboro Police Department as well

as High Point, Burlington, Winston-Salem, and the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department. The Officers’ departmental motorcycles were neatly lined up at the head of the staging area at the sponsoring dealership, Riding High Harley-Davidson when I pulled up and joined the crowd. There was definitely a lot of uniforms hanging around, anticipating the upcoming ride. By the time I parked and took off my helmet, plenty more folks rode in and parked in the line. Most of us, after greeting friends and exchanging pleasantries, headed on inside to sign up. I was told that there were 52 confirmed registered riders. There was hot coffee and Krispy Kremes arrayed on the registration table. The registration fee included a ride t-shirt and raffle ticket. On display were two custom painted helmets by famous local motorcycle painter Wayne Jarrett, and a HarleyDavidson leather jacket that were the raffle prizes that were going to some happy winners after the ride. Riding High HD had donated the leather jacket and matched the first 50 riders’ up to $1750. Of course, 100% of all proceeds going to Special Olympics. Thanks, Riding High for stepping up to support Special Olympics. Anticipation was mounting as we began to hear the call to suit up to ride. The lead officer held a riders’ meeting then the

rumble of the engines signaled the ride was at last beginning. When they said this ride was ‘escorted’, that was putting it mildly! The troop of participating motorcycle officers was astounding. They corralled the riders, led the whole ride, shut down cross streets, and protected the tail riders. They did a fantastic job and we all enjoyed the ride out through Guilford and parts of Rockingham County. The air was crisp, and the fall colors abound on this country ride, a two-lane pleasure. Upon our return to Riding High Harley-Davidson, we were treated to a demonstration of precise riding skills on the Riding Academy training grounds by several of the motor officers. Then there was a ‘slow ride’ competition for any rider who wanted to try their skills. They didn’t compete against each other, but each rider competed against the clock. Five competitors vied for the prize, but Bob from Julian won the $100 Gift Card from Riding High. Back inside, raffle tickets were pulled, and the two beautiful custom helmets and a cool Harley leather jacket were claimed. They had a 50/50 raffle, too and a happy face with $20 was seen heading out the door! Chief Scott thanked everyone for coming out and participating in the ride for Special Olympics. By the way, The Chief’s Ride had real cool ride t-shirts as part of the fundraiser, and they will be worn with pride until the next Chief’s Ride coming in September 2019.

R.M. Campbell 12th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run By: Bill Gallaway unday, November 4th was a special day for the residents of the R.M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. This run, planned by the Teufelshunde Motorcycle Club, is put on every year to support the Veterans/Residents of the R.M. Campbell Nursing Home. Every year the residents put together a wants and needs list for participants. This list contains Shampoo, AAA Batteries, Books, Slippers, Hot Chocolate, Ball Caps, Lotions, Diabetic Socks, Jogging suits, Birdfeeders and seed and Model cars and crafts. In addition, this year there was more than $15,200 raised, all of it going to Veteran Services. The line-up started around 1:00 p.m., the official start time and most riders arrived between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. KSU was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. prior to the start of the parade, the 100

plus road guards and police left to control traffic during the run. The all bike run went through downtown Anderson and proceeded to the nursing home and the parade took approximately one hour to descend upon the nursing home. Those that made the ride were greeted by representatives of R.M. Campbell and the 220 residents awaiting their arrival. It was a mostly sunny day with temperatures in the mid 60’s to 70’s, so everyone was comfortable. There were skydivers again this year since the weather was fantastic. There was a 21 gun volley and it was a very patriotic and festive event where everyone showed respect during the singing of the National Anthem, Taps and the presentation of the flag. There were 800-plus motorcycles on the ride, many riding two up. They were riding tight to keep the length of the parade manageable. I get a very proud feeling for our country and what we stand for every year during this run. I won’t forget the event and can’t wait until next year for the 13th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run. Make plans now to come out and support the veterans of R.M. Campbell Nursing home; it’s always the same time every year. A special thank you to all our Veterans and everyone responsible for making this event possible.

Xtreme Halloween Bash

By: Buzz here are only a few things necessary for a good party: drinks, tunes and a room full of new friends. Throw in a gnarly Halloween costume contest and change that to an AC/DC tribute band and we are making it a night. This was the scene on October 27 at Xtreme Wings N Things on Myer Lee Drive in Winston-Salem. By the time the band got started up there were already a slew of characters in the house, some in costume and some are just characters. There were pirates, wenches, a mermaid, The Joker & Poison Ivey, some folks done up as skeletons, a hot police woman, her prisoner and there was Dale. Dale said he was dressed up as the lead singer to the band Hell Yeah, but it looked like his everyday gear! It was cool that the costumes that were there were pretty well done and more than just the out of the package Wal-Mart costume. The bar was full, but Brandee was slinging beers and keeping everyone’s thirst at bay when Problem Child took the stage. Those of you who don’t know, Problem Child is a kick ass AC/DC tribute band. They warmed up the crowd and were their own opening band as they jammed through a few classic rock songs and started the night with “We’re an American Band” before they got down to business

and ripped into their AC/DC set. After the crowd was well rocked Chad and Brandee split the costume contest winnings to the best five costumes. Four winners took home $40 each and the fifth grabbed a $25 gift certificate. Xtreme Wings n Things is constantly throwing parties, and is a great place to grab a bite and a beer any day of the week. But if you want to make your HarleyDavidson Motorcycle get down the road real quick, see Michael Beland, CEO of A1 Cycles in Maiden, NC. Mike moved to North Carolina a couple years ago. I got to know him when he took the American Motorcycle Racing Association’s Top Fuel Championship in 2016. For a couple years, Mike worked out of his garage and worked for other bike shops in the area. His specialty is building and tuning big motor, His award-winning bad ass Harleys. local dirt track taking several class titles. From 2000 to 2005 he ran AMA Pro Flat Track earning a national expert license and competing in lots of Main Feature races aboard a HarleyDavidson. The 2016 AMRA Top Fuel champ got back on the drag strip in 2006 for local bracket racing in Palm Beach. Then Mike felt the need for nitromethane. He attended Johnny Vickers’ Hawaya Racing Pro Fuel School and graduated at the top of his class. In 2015, he quickly earned Top Fuel licenses in both the International Hot Rod Association and the National Hot Rod Association. Now, you can benefit from Mike’s experience and knowledge. His new shop is equipped with machine tools and a dyno. Mike can build complete bikes, build you a serious motor or tune what you already have. Mike is a classy man and had some great food and drinks for the party. There were some fast bikes at A1 Cycles for the Grand Opening. Some of his FXR Cartel buddies were there. I saw a few bikes with busted taillights and skid plates on the fenders from riding 12 O’Clock Wheelies and making sparks. I rode the curvy way home along the river before the afternoon got chilly. Old bikes with carbs love cool, dry air and a spirited ride.

A day to reflect on what it actually means to be free. Men and Women for many generations have fought to preserve for us all the freedom we take for granted every day! We as Americans need to remember them every day, not just once a year! On the 10th I had the privilege to ride for and in honor of Ron Howard. A Veteran of 31 years fighting and keeping us safe! He served in Vietnam as an Airborne infantryman, U.S Army Air Calvary defending in West Germany, and as a Special Aviation Advisor to our Ambassador in Beirut. He had many other special deployments to protect us here at home! When Ron came home, he started IOMAX USA in Mooresville, NC with his son K.C. Howard. They have continued to protect our homeland with ground breaking technology benefiting the department of defense. So, Saturday November 10th was a cool brisk morning to

ride. About 35 of us met at Open Road Cycles in Denver, NC. We rode out to IOMAX U.S.A. in Mooresville to meet up with another 100 or so riders. It was a heartwarming time to meet K.C. and his family before we headed out. The Pastor from the Cove Church in Denver prayed and blessed all of us before we mounted for the ride. When we headed out, we were escorted by 2 of Iredell’s finest county mounties on their Harleys. They escorted us into Lincoln County where we were picked up by Lincoln County Sheriffs in cages. As we rolled into Joey’s Food and Spirits in Denver, we were met by many taking videos of all the bikes. Although there were only 130 bikes it sure felt a lot bigger because of the big hearts that was on each of the bikes. When we got to Joey’s, there were several vendors and many sponsors set up in the parking lot. Live music, martial arts demo, bike show, food, and a bunch of cold beer. A lot us opted for bloody mary’s first!!! At 12:30 they had an old Army r-con prop plane do a fly over in Ron’s honor. With all tallied from donations and riders they raised around $14,000.00 for The Denver Wellness Center!! It was my honor to be a part of Ron’s Memorial Ride on behalf of Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine! Please Remember that every time you see an Armed Service Member, thank them for their service.

Double D Burnout Saloon & Biker Trash Nation Fall Bash

By: Rose & Lloyd OW, for an event that was rained out on Oct 27th the crowd came out in droves on the 28th. Dressed in their Halloween costumes and ready to party and maybe take home a prize. Biker Trash Nation sponsored a contest for best Women’s costume and Men’s tightest jeans. The women came as Little Red Riding Hood, with her one wolf, to Mary had a Little Lamb. The judges really had their work cut out for them, but in the end third place went to Shirley Stewart, second place to Christine Williams and first place to Sharon Rooney. The men’s contest left little to the imagination with judges’ getting to feel for “firmness”, and “shakability”. Third place was awarded to Cody Heegler, second to Mike “Scooter” Hill, and first to John Sluss. The crowd was entertained by Glass Anvil, and food was available by Ross’ Food Truck. There were raffle tickets being sold for a hand-made teak wood table, and all proceeds went to The Forgotten Sons for the Forsyth County Toys for Tots. Double D had beautiful ladies doing a 50/50 for a dear friend, Rebecca Critter’s mom whom lost her house in the hurricane. The weather was great and it was an awesome party with great service, food, entertainment and great people.

45th Annual Fall Swap Meet & Bike Show By: WildThing ick Nail and the Concerned Bikers Association, Charlotte Chapter have this. They have been putting together this show two times every year for a very long time. And they do their job well. There was some concern when they moved the swap meet when Metrolina Fairgrounds

shut down to Rowan County Fairgrounds. The swap meet November 10 and 11 showed that concern unfounded. Since the move, they have been sponsored by Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury and these good folks always have a booth full of

Some of the serious parts shoppers came in trucks to haul away their finds! There was a party spirit all over the fairgrounds as folks shopped for that elusive part hiding out on a vendor trailer or browsed the huge variety of goodies in the outside or inside booths. Really, you have to see it to believe it. I love the true old school spirit of the swap meet as well as the opportunity to visit with folks you haven’t seen for a while, which is sure to happen at the CBA Swap Meet. If you were hungry or thirsty, that could be handled by the

fairgrounds food vendors who were surrounding folks with mouth watering aromas. Annddd, adult beverages were on site! There was a large tent set up to house the bands, wet

Lucky’s Saloon Bike Night Finals By Scott Wicker n Saturday, October 13th, Lucky’s Saloon in Burlington, NC held their finals for the bike night games held every Thursday night throughout 2018. Kristi Bettini, Melissa Moody, Gina Davis, and Monica Loy have redefined what a bike night is supposed to be. The Lucky’s Charms, as the girls have become known, started holding bike night games at Lucky’s in July of 2017. The girls have developed some very unique events over the past couple of years that you will not find at any other bar holding a bike night in North Carolina. Some of the events the girls have put on include the wiener bite, balloon toss, the slow race, shoot the can, road kill pick up, waitress carry, tire toss, and the egg carry. Most of the events require lots of skill and are very entertaining to watch. The Finals, held on Saturday, October 13th, featured bike games and foot games as well. “DJ”

Charity Ride for Trooper Kevin K Conner

By: Trisha Photo: Chi Force evin Keith Conner, (October 22, 1979 ~ October 17, 2018), North Carolina Highway Patrol, was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on U.S. 701, near Sellers Town Road, in Columbus County at 12:15 am, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He was a native of Bladenboro, NC. Kevin was a graduate of Bladenboro High School and obtained his Associate in Criminal Justice degree at Bladen Community College. Kevin’s life-long dream came true as he joined the North Carolina Highway Patrol in 2007 as a member of the 119th basic school. Survivors include his wife, Miranda Fowler Conner of the home, 11 year old daughter, Briley Conner, and 5 year old son, Braxson Conner, also of the home, his parents, Glenn and Kay Conner of North Myrtle Beach, SC, his in-laws, Ricky

and Melanie Fowler, a beloved brother-in-law, Dustin Fowler (Nicole, Ella, and Emmi), a sister-in-law, Mikayla Fowler, and a beloved fur baby lab, Drake. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Henry Clyde and Pearl McLean, and paternal grandparents, Roy and Josephine (Kitten) Conner. Saturday, November 10, 2018 was the date selected to honor Trooper Conner. The East Coast Coyotes are dedicated to helping families of officers killed in the line of duty and hosted this event. Everyone was encouraged to join on this ride and donate $20.00 per vehicle to help support the family. All money raised will be given to Trooper Conner’s family with the help of the NC Trooper’s Association. The ride started at Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro. From Greensboro, the ride went to Richmond Community Col-

lege in Hamlet, and from Richmond Community College, all riders were headed to the Columbus County Agricultural Fairgrounds at 886 Prison Camp Rd. Whiteville, NC. After the grand arrival at Whiteville, preordered shirts were distributed and other shirts we available for sale. The community gave an awesome welcome to all the riders. They were so excited to see everyone ride in. There was an intense and overwhelming feeling of love, support and compassion. It certainly contained the feeling of homecoming for the ride. The community was eagerly awaiting the riders’ arrival and had hot dogs on the grill as everyone flooded into the fairground. There were some very nice raffle prizes, ticket

sales and a 50/50 raffle. After lunch, there was a dedication song to honor Trooper Kevin Conner and a beautiful balloon release followed the song. The skyline view was covered in blue balloons as well as other specialty balloons to represent his badge number B-551. And there was a moment of silence and respect for Trooper Conner. The ride then continued from the Columbus County fairgrounds to Mac’s Speed Shop at 4126 Oleander Dr, Wilmington NC. The celebration of Trooper Conner continued with riders all around! The East Coast Coyettes were extremely successful in planning the ride. And, we rode with them in unison and respect for Kevin Conner and all those that risk their lives for the safety of others. “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”

What Are You Thankful For?

Bros and Bro-ettes, hanksgiving will be here before you get this issue of Full Throttle and I hope everyone had a blessed one. Many are writing on Facebook each day what they are thankful for which is great, but we should be thankful every day, not just in November. I’m thankful for my family and friends and for my health to go and do the things I can still do. I had a great weekend at the CBA Swap Meet. We got to pray for people and different ones came by the booth just to talk and fellowship. I’m very thankful for Rick, Myra and Terry for letting us do a service each Sunday Morning. I’m thankful for my kids that gave me the greatest grandkids which I love. If you’re still above ground you have a lot to be thankful for, the first thing out of your mouth each morning should be thank you Jesus for waking me up and allowing me to have another day. The Lord hasn’t given up on you, but you may have given up on Him. He is always by your side. Psalms 100:4 says “Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, Be thankful to Him and bless His name.” Christmas is coming up and people will be celebrating. Some know the meaning of Christmas and some don’t. It’s not about putting up a tree and decorating your home, or gifts, or a fat man in a red suit. Nothing is wrong with that, I do it, lots of people do it.

I just want you to know the real reason. Kenly Rocks Jesus 2018

By: David Burnette n Saturday October 27, Ms. Pat and I took off and drove to Kenly NC to attend the Kenly Rocks Jesus 2018 event at Thee Redeemed House where Roger Duvall H.S.M.M. is the administrator. They have a great location right off of I-95, it’s a nice size warehouse where they have services every Sunday. It’s also an outreach facility where they help a lot of hurting people in their area. They give out food, clothing, and other goods to families in need. I know they helped a lot of people affected by hurricane flooding in their area. Roger was telling me that they have a bike shop where they do small repairs and oil changes, they even have a trailer where they go out and rescue stranded bikers off the side of the road and get them to a repair shop. The ministry is made up of all types of people, but I think its mostly bikers and people from the neighborhood around them. We had a great time with them, lots of great food and fellowship. Lots of awesome bands and speakers also they had inflatables for the kids, they raffled off a motorcycle. It was an all-around a great day. Here’s a rundown of the day’s events at Kenly Rocks Jesus 2018, Roger Duvall said it was a “real blessed day, and a lot of people got blessed this day and for the future, thank you Scrape Wall Outside of Sunday Band, Raymond Reynolds Firm Foundation band, David Paul Shankle, Rick and all of the KCC Praise band, the guys of Frank Rocks Jesus Frank Thomson, the speakers, Pastor Brian Wible, Pastor Jeff Desse, Potter’s Clay, Kelly Villanueva, Hope Preserved, Montana Joe H.S.M.M. Mike Heafner Of Iron Horse Motorcycles

By: David Burnette sat down today and talked with Mike Heafner at Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe NC to interview him and get to know him a little better. Mike was telling me that he started back in the 70’s building choppers in a 20’ x 50’ building in the Monroe area. Mike was also one of the charter members that started the first CBA chapter in this area. He bought his dealership in 1983, and it has grown from that first 1000 square foot building to his current location that is a 40,000 sq ft building and sits on seven acres right on Highway 74. He said that he thought it would be cheaper to open a shop to help support his motorcycle racing career than to buy parts at cost! Mike said he started dirt track racing when he was a teenager and progressed into drag racing motorcycles until he was about 45 years old. His racing career spanned around 20 years and he still holds a NHRA record for a 1978 Honda single cam 4 cylinder that he ran in the 4.90s in an 1/8 mile. He said his favorite bike that he raced was a 1978 XLCR Harley sportster. Mike’s the only person I’ve ever met that has ridden a motorcycle to the Arctic Circle. He did that in 2004 and he also said that he’s ridden across the United States 20 times and plans doing it again in May of 2019. Now that’s what I call a biker !!! I asked Mike about his motorcycle collection. If you’ve never seen it it’s worth checking out; it’s inside in the back of the Iron Horse Motorcycle shop and there’s no cost to see it. He said he started collecting back in the 70’s with bikes dating as far back as 1898, it’s pretty impressive. Mike wanted to give a special thanks to his brother Ronnie for 20 years of service in the business with him. Ronnie lost his battle with cancer in May of this year. Ronnie might be gone but he’s not forgotten. Rest easy Ronnie. God Bless. Iron Horse Motorcycles is a family run business. Mike’s

Benefit At Double D Burnout Saloon For Tony “Mad Dog” King By Rose and Lloyd f there is any doubt in your mind, the biker family is amazing. Not only do they participate in major charities such as Toys for Tots, Shriners, and Brenner Children’s Hospital, but they are always there to help a friend or brother in need. In this area, most bikers are familiar with Tony “Mad Dog “ King, a Marine and a true friend to all. In the several years that we have known him, he has helped with so many causes. In the last few years, he has organized benefits for many friends in need, and he has worked with The Shriners and Toys for Tots raising several thousands of dollars. Approximately a month ago our friend and brother suffered his third heart attack, this time resulting in double by-pass surgery. Sunday Nov. 11th, David and Missie, owners of Double D Burnout Saloon, opened their hearts and doors to raise money to help “Mad Dog”. With a lot of help and very little time, a benefit was put together to help “Mad Dog” get a good start on his recovery. “Mad Dog” was able to attend with his beautiful granddaughter Savannah by his side. He was truly amazed by the over 100 bikers that came out to show their love and support. A world of thanks go out to so many that made this event possible. Butch Meadows and his gang, and Gary Cox and Jack Reaves for staying out all night in freezing temperatures smoking the pork and chicken. Thank you to Karen Hatchett, Caroll Merritt, and Dawn Reaves for handling the food, raffle, and 50/50. Thanks, too, to all the wonderful people that donated side dishes. The table was full, pork, chicken, wings, slaw, potato salad, rolls, macaroni salad, mac and cheese, baked beans and ever popular banana pudding. The 50/50 was won by Reina Lawson, who gave it all back to the cause. Many thanks for the great entertainment, starting at 1:00pm with Davis Tucker and 3:00 pm with Ambush. The crowd was in great spirits, dancing and enjoying the fact their brother and friend was there and back to healing up. Vickie Cribb had her jewelry set up, and gave the proceeds to the cause. Mad Dog, one of Bob Karney’s Bulldog Heroes for 2018, thanked everyone at the benefit and said the money would certainly help, but he was humbled by the show of love and support. Steelhorse Strangers Motorcycle Club 9th Annual Person Co. Toy Run By: Ed Cleary n Sunday, November 11, The Steelhorse Strangers Motorcycle Club held their Ninth Annual Person County Toy Run. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve had this ride on my calendar for a couple of months now and was really looking forward to it. I first heard about it from Hank Thilbodeau of Widowmaker Custom Design & Repair in Rougemont, NC. Widowmaker was the Champion Sponsor of the event. I left Raleigh at 9:00 AM for the 50-mile trip to the rally point at The Homestead Steakhouse in Timberlake. The morning had dawned clear but cold. Gone was our short but beautiful autumn riding season. This was full on leather weather! I stopped at Raging Bull H-D along the way and joined up with 7 other riders also heading up to the ride. When we got to The Homestead, we were greeted by volunteers who directed us to our places in the staging area. The entire reception and registration process was extremely well organized. While waiting for the ride to begin, I learned more about the

event organizers and their mission. Several years ago, a group of friends with a shared passion for motorcycle riding envi-

sioned a club dedicated to serving the people of Person County. And so, while sitting around the dinner table, Steelhorse Strangers Motorcycle Club, Inc. took shape. Immediately, the group began discussing potential service projects. Several individuals mentioned toy runs for children in surrounding counties and the many Person County attendees. The desire to hold a local toy run quickly took center stage. Since then, the Steelhorse Strangers MC, Inc.’s Annual Person County Toy Run has grown from a few participants in its inaugural year, to 348 bikes and 175 passengers this year. Their goal is to collect toys and monetary donations to benefit Santa’s Helpers of Person County Santa’s Helpers is a community service organization comprised of volunteers. Contributions of toys and money from businesses, non-profit organizations and private citizens of Person County, along with the Toys for Tots Program sponsored by the US Marine Corps Reserve are used to provide Christmas for children of local families who would otherwise be without. The ride kicked off about 1:30 in the afternoon, escorted by the Person County Sheriff’s office. The 50+ mile route was well planned. The Steelhorse Strangers even went out the day before to check all intersections and turns for debris and other hazards, even going so far as to sweep up any loose gravel and leaves along the route. Nice! The circuitous route took us through the back country roads and right down through the heart of Roxboro before ending up again at The Homestead.

The Person County Volunteer Fire Department, working with the sheriffs, ensured every intersection and junction was blocked for our unimpeded passage. Upon return to the starting point The Homestead had a hot buffet style BBQ lunch waiting for us. It was delicious. All said and done the event filled an 8x19 storage pod with toys and raised over $23,000.00 for Santa’s Helpers. Cherie “Ginger Snap” Hatley, VP of the Steelhorse Strangers MC, extends a big “thank you to everyone who supported the ride, our sponsors, the community that donated to the ride, and those who stood on the side of the road with signs (Thanks to Ricky, MJ, and the Family, your guys gave our hearts an extra smile!) and cheered us on. You have truly touched our hearts and overwhelmed us with your generosity. Most importantly, you have made Christmas a reality for the children of Person County, who may have otherwise been without.”

Run for Rhonda By Wally Wersching honda Hartman is best known for her work at Rhonda’s Kitchen or the Walmart neighborhood market. The smile on her face always makes a stranger feel welcome. She has always given to her community. Recently Rhonda had some minor surgery, but the biopsy came back as cancer. She will need the help of her community to beat this. The Royal Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry held a fundraiser for Rhonda on November 4th at the Royal Praise Ministries in Kings Mountain, NC. The run would leave the ministry at about 1:00 with a police escort, and travel the back roads near Kings Mountain, and end at Rhonda’s home where the money collected would be presented to her. Food will be available at Rhonda’s house too. I never met Rhonda, but she sounded like a very warm and loving lady, so I decided to take part in the run for her. I left home about 12:15 on Sunday. It had warmed up quite a bit to the mid 50’s. It was a very pleasant ride to the ministry. Once I parked “Miss Vickie”, I started to pass out some “Full Throttle” magazines to the bikers who were already there. Some I knew, and others I was meeting for the first time. It was a very friendly place with only one goal in mind – to help Rhonda. I met a couple men that I used to work with. We had a few laughs about the old company. Luckily, it’s still doing well. I have a lot of friends there. After a few more bikers rode in along with about the same number of cars, they called for a gathering to pass the basket for Rhonda. Everybody dug deep to give to Rhonda. It looked

like there was a lot of money in the basket. When the minister was about to say the prayer for the run, a group of Windjammers came rumbling in. The minister waited until they were all greeted. After the hugs were over, he continued with the prayer. Then the ride captain told of the route, and the fact that the road by Rhonda’s house is gravel. At about 1:20, the bikers started their bikes with a roar to wait for the police car to start down the road. The road in front of the ministry is a four-lane with a speed limit of 55. It could be dangerous to pull out in front of a car. One of the SUV’s in the mix pulled out to block the lanes before the police car turned on his lights and siren. I watched as the group of 33 bikes roared past me to get to the road. After the bikes left, there were about 20 cars too. It was a good feeling to know that Rhonda would have a lot of company later to show their support for her battle with cancer.

Poker Run For Operation Angel Wing By: Gary Steelman he 1st Annual US Veterans MC, NC State Chapter Poker Run was held November 11. The benefit run was held to support Operation Angel Wing. Operation Angel Wing is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping military veterans combat PTSD. These folks go out to the veterans and help them and their families deal with undiagnosed PTSD. The stigma that comes with being diagnosed with PTSD often affects employment and quality of life for the veteran and their families. Operation Angel Wing seeks to help heal those suffering with or without an official diagnosis. The organization seeks to help one vet at a time, one victory at a time. The run was sponsored by the US Veterans MC and supported by Twisted Brotherhood from Hamptonville, NC. The guys and gals had a great ride as the weather cooperated finally, after threatening at the start. Beginning at Tilley’s Harley-Davidson in Statesville, NC the ride through the countryside ended up at Clutches on Water Tank Road in Statesville where food from Loco’s Tacos and cold beverages awaited the riders. The newly chartered CMA local chapter “Cross Way Riders” held a service at Clutches to begin the day. Craig and

Jean represent sincerely wherever they go. The food was great, the beverages cold and spirits were high. The poker run was won by Statesville’s own Craig Rimmer, who donated his winnings back to Operation Angel Wing. Everyone, it seemed, had a great time and give a thanks to Tilley Harley-Davidson, Sasha’s on the Lake, and Fourth Creek Brewing for being sponsors of this event. 13th Annual Red Knights N.C. Chapter #7 & Burlington H.O.G. Chapter Toy Run

By Scott Wicker Photo By Sandra & William Blanchard old morning temperatures did not hinder a great turn out on Saturday, November 10th, as the Alamance County Chapter of the Red Knights NC #7 and the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter combined to hold their 13th Annual Toy Run for the 2018 Holiday Season. Over 35 Bikes and riders braved the cold morning temperatures and met at Down Home Harley-Davidson to start the run. Down Home HarleyDavidson provided coffee and doughnuts to prepare everyone for the stops that were safely made at participating fire stations and businesses along the planned route. The fire station pick up points throughout Alamance County were Snow Camp, EliWhitney, Swepsonville, Mebane, Haw River, Faucette, North Central, Altamahaw-Ossipee, Elon Station #18, Burlington Headquarters Fire Station, Alamance Rescue Base, EMS Base, and Graham Headquarters Fire Department. Pleasant Grove

Fire Department donated $500.00 that provided gift cards to those in need. Everyone ate lunch at the Faucette Fire Department with hot dogs provided by Five Points Grocery and Grill. Mike and Hannah Giroux provided the drinks for lunch as well. Over 20 boxes of toys were delivered to the Christmas Cheer Office in Burlington and over $850.00 was collected and will be distributed in Alamance County through the efforts of the toy run. Everyone had a great time and a safe ride. Make Plans to be there next year if you missed out. The Burlington H.O.G Club and The Red Knights NC Chapter #7 would also like to Thank the Misfitz Motorcycle Club for their donation of toys and over $350.00 they gave for the kids. A big thank you goes to the members of the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter and the Red Knights NC Chapter #7 for organizing the event. The Red Knight NC Chapter #7 and the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter would like to thank everyone that participated and made contributions for such a great cause. A big thank you to Down Home Harley-Davidson also for their support. The Tipsy Crow Bar - Old and New

By: Rick Gammons ost of you folks in the High Point area know about “The Pits”. It has been around for over 25 years. Because of an accident, hospitalization and rehab, former owner, Archie Pennington sold the Pits. Davis Smalls, from South Carolina, always wanted to own a bar and was actively looking for one when he found The Pits. He bought it, revamped a lot of the inside and is still a work in progress. He also renamed it ‘The Tipsy Crow Bar’. That change made it his. Some of us still refer to it as The Pits, but we are coming around. The Tipsy Crow Bar is on Berkley Street, off Old Thomasville Road, in an industrial location. Out of the way, off the radar kind of place where you can party and not bother anyone else. So, what does The Crow Bar offer? Let’s see...good people, in front of and behind the bar. Lisa and Noah are the regular bar staff. Good people. Beer and wine selections are available and brown bag is allowed. So, you’re covered, whatever your preference (soft drinks too). Tipsy is open at 4 pm weekdays, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. The Crow Bar has several venues, some almost impromptu. I have seen two-piece groups, single singers and full bands. Davis has new talent coming, including Davis Tucker and The Ambush Band. Oh, and karaoke every Friday night. There is

generally a huge crowd there for this, with local entertainers belting out lyrics entertaining the other patrons every week. Sometimes Peggy and I go over early in the evening. You get more one on one time with the staff and some early arrivals. Eventually, most of the regulars begin coming in and its business as usual. Pool league. Every Tuesday. I don’t play pool much anymore, but I hear stories.... Seems as though something is up most days. Davis has events. In fact, the day before he took over, he threw a party. A few weeks ago, The Crow Bar had a BBQ cookout to honor Archie and to help with his continued medical rehab. Archie was already there when we arrived. It was impossible to get to him. There were people gathered all around the man. We finally got to squeeze in and chat a minute. Then it was on to BBQ. Yum. Donations for Archie mounted up. Great job! This party lasted until early in the morning and it was packed when we left, everybody listening to one of the two bands playing that evening. Fabulous time, guys. Get down there and check it out. A man was sitting on a lawn sunning and reading, when he was startled by a fairly late model car crashing through a hedge and coming to rest on his lawn. He helped the elderly driver out and sat her on a lawn chair. “My goodness” he exclaimed, “you are quite old to be driving!” “Yes” she replied,” I am old enough that I don’t need a license anymore. The last time I went to my doctor he examined me, and asked if I had a driver’s license. I told him yes and handed it to him He took scissors out of a drawer, cut the license into pieces and threw them in the wastebasket.” ”You won’t be needing this anymore,” he said. “So, I thanked him and left.”

Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything. Tutors, Mentors, flash cards, Special learning centers. In short, everything They could think of to help his math. Finally, in a last-ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn’t even kiss his mother Hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner. To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference. Finally, little Zachary brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, little Zachary got an ‘A’

There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no actual address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read ‘Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension payment. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna.’ The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: ‘Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it might have been those bastards at the post office. Latin American countries are sending food supplies. China is sending rice. The European community (except France) is sending food, first-aid and money. The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million Mexicans to replace the dead ones.
