Here Ya Go! Issue #305, December 2023! It’s full on Toy Run Season and as always, bikers are in the giving spirit. There are a ton of opportunities to join in on festivities or just go riding, check out the Cruisin’ Calendar on Page 6 and pick you out something. Yeah, we are fully in the cold weather riding season, suck it up and pull on your leathers, there are still plenty of miles to ride in 2023! It may be colder, but there really aren’t that many days that you CAN’T ride…. unless I just jinxed us. As always we have had one hell of a good year here at the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. We certainly appreciate all our fans, readers, writers, riders, sponsors and advertisers. 2024 Is gonna be great too, don’t you worry. We are gonna start it off with The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Custom Bike Show on January 13th, get your bikes ready and register them to be part of the $10,000 in bike show cash prizes! R.M. Campbell 17th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Veterans Run & Rally

n Sunday November 5th, 2023, the bikes started

to arrive around noon at the staging area in Anderson, SC. It was KSU at 2:30 pm and already the riders were ready. The official start time was between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm. There were hundreds of bikes ready to go. The last few years had forced a change to the format of this event and this year the ride was like those in the past pre-Covid.

This event is planned by the Teufelshunde Motorcycle Club and is put on every year to support the Veterans/Residents of the R.M. Campbell Nursing Home. The riders had boxes and bags of needed items for the Veterans strapped to their bikes.

The weather this year was not an issue. The day was a beautiful sunny mild day with temperatures in the mid-70s. Earlier in the week it had been much cooler with temperatures in the 50s. So, we were fortunate that it cleared up. As I arrived, I noticed some old friends and visited with them for a short time in the staging area. The Nursing Home Bus parked at the head of the line to take donations that were too cumbersome to carry on the bikes. I took advantage of this option since I had 2 Boxes of books, shampoo and other needed items.

Prior to the start the road guards left to help control traffic during the run. The all -bike run followed and were greeted by representatives of R.M. Campbell upon arrival. Awaiting us were food vendors and other biker booths selling merchandise

of biker interest. Many folks were already visiting with old friends in the vendor area.

Upon arrival again there was the small bus on which to take the donations that were brought to the Nursing Home. With all of this going on, a local band INKAHOOTS were performing and taking requests from folks. Others were tapping their feet and even singing along. The Band played some good rock and country with a blues flavor. This year we didn’t have Skydivers dropping in on us for the Flag Presentation. However, that didn’t take away from the honor and respect given to the residents by all the attendees.

Many thanks to the Teufelshunde Motorcycle Club for their support and coordination of this yearly event. It would not happen without them. Due to their efforts many Veterans were honored and remembered and not forgotten. Thank you all for your service.

At The Rock 32nd Jim McClure All-Harley World Finals The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine

Story and photos by Alan Dockery f you were at Rockingham Dragway’s 32nd Annual Jim McClure All-Harley World Finals presented by MTC Engineering and Law Tigers of North Carolina then you are probably still telling folks about it. Telling them it was the biggest and best Harley drag race in many years.

The number of racer entries was just over 300. Yes, 90+ were in the Dial-In ET Class. But there were almost 40 Nitro-fueled, chest-rattlin’ Harleys thrilling fans at The Rock.

And for us who dig big-motor snorting gas bikes, the Outlaw Street, Modified, Pro Bagger and Street Bagger Classes were full too. By Saturday qualifying it was clear that we were fixin’ to have a great race.

The Rock is a legendary dragstrip. Check the racing associations’ record books. Lots of records set at Rockingham Dragway in the Carolina Sandhills. The track is hookin’, the air is right and you have a half mile of shutdown. Run it as hard as you can.

A few things make this race special. It has become a combined finals for the American Motorcycle Racing Association and the All Harley Drag Racing Association which is also American Motorcyclist Association sanctioned. So that means everybody is gonna be there. This race also honors Jim “Da Judge” McClure who passed away almost 20 years ago, but will never be forgotten by Harley race fans. Jim was a huge influence on some of today’s racing stars and is an inductee in the North Carolina Drag Racing Hall of Fame. Phyllis McClure was there and ready to pose with fans who still have photos of her and Jim at the track on the wall in their shops.

At the Sunday riders’ meeting, Chris Rasile presented her one of those old photos. Ziggy Stewart, Jim’s nephew, still races a Top Fuel Harley.

Saturday qualifying went well for the thousands of fans.

The place was packed with racers and campers for the weekend. A common thing I heard was, “Where are you staying,

since you ain’t in your usual spot. Other folks are there.” I love seeing the pits and campgrounds overflowing.

One of the prettiest sights in Harley drag racing is third round qualifying at Rockingham. The sunsets can be beautiful, but we gotta get done before the track cools too much. So one after another fans get to watch the nitro bikes roar down the strip with their flames visible. Wow, I love it. Then we could jam to the Straightwire Band or settle back in camp with a small fire and some Smores.

I know y’all are used to me listing all of the Carolina racers, but there was a new computer or program which could not do the things I needed. I’m sure they will sync with your pocket computer (not good telephones anymore), but they were not able to create and print the simple things we have had and used forever. I’ll highlight the racers who made it to the finals.

Being the biggest race in years means my buddies from other states are at the strip. Local fans love them too since they have come to North Carolina for years to entertain us.

How bout seeing Kirby Apathy and the FBI Crew at the strip.

Some racers put on a great show for the fans. Folks love Donnie Huffman from down in Lakeland, Florida. His launches on that Sportster are famous. Chuck Ragan, Macon, GA, is at the track to have fun and entertain. I hope y’all saw Chuck’s Bill Furr Style Burnouts on his pretty red bagger.

AMRA Ray Price Top Fuel Shootout Bad Apple Racing rolled in real deep with several race bikes at The Rock. I think they were in every nitro-fuel class. First round saw defending AHDRA champion Tracy Kile, Asheville, NC, and Tii Tharpe, Pfafftown, NC, face off. Tracy spun the tire and watched Tii go down the strip. call it a bagger.

But it was Mike Motto, Richlands, NC, who took home the winner’s trophy. Mike faced Greg Dahl, PA, in the final. Greg built Mike’s race bike and is kinda the Guru in that class. Oh and Greg was setting records at The Rock. But he shredded the drive belt and Mike streaked down the strip for the win. Mike is the 2023 AHDRA champ and a future story subject.

Pro Bagger is a real popular class. Machines that look kinda like what some of y’all ride, but with big engines, power adders and massive wheelies down the strip while posting eight second passes. Looking at my photos, I can remember some of y’all in competition in that class. A1 Cycles, Maiden, NC, was represented by Michael Beland and Joe Gladden, Shelby, NC. Greg Quinn, Fountain, NC; and Justin Demery, Rowland, NC, also put on a great show for the fans.

Hard Charging Sportsman Racers Street Baggers are some bad ass bikes and closer to what we ride. Branon White, Winston-Salem, NC, had his Indian King of the Bagger series road racer at the drag strip.

The Mad Monkey Crew brought the Indian so they could see just what it can do in a straight line. Todd Dillon, Wilmington, NC, also qualified in Street Bagger.

Ken Strauss, Terrell, NC, qualified number one in the Top Eliminator 9.30 index class. He lost to David Doremus by two hundreths of a second in a double breakout at the finish line.

Ken still took the AHDRA Top Eliminator 9.30 championship.

Freddie Frazier, Sanford, NC, as always was a tough competitor in the class.

The Super Gas 9.90 index class had almost 30 bikes entered.

Ken Strauss worked his way through that big field for the win over Donnie Huffman. He also took the AHDRA Super Gas Championship. I saw Rick Medford, Cherokee, NC; and Mike

he ran a 6.39 at 215. But Tii was late off the line and lost to Iowa’s Jordan Peterson by .004 of a second at the finish line.

Jay Turner, Julian, NC, had that impressive ProCharger machine at Rockingham. Oh Man, the fans want to see that bike make some winning passes. Michael Beland, is a former Top Fuel Harley champ from Maiden, NC, and another guy I want to see run well.

The Nitro Funny Bike Class saw fans cheering for a real popular win. Armon Furr, Orangeburg, SC, is the son of famous, longtime Top Fuel Harley racer Bill Furr. The stands exploded when Jim Doyle lit up the red bulb at the starting line and Armon’s win light came on.

Also competing in Nitro Funny Bike was Cameron Gunter, Asheville, NC, and Kevin Campbell, Southern Pines, NC. Pro Fuel machines are the small nitro bikes with 120 cubic inch engines, carburetors and single speed only. But those machines still fill the air with nitromethane, rattle your chest and put down 7.30’s all day. Seventeen were at The Rock and ready to roll.

Sam White, Chapin, SC, riding one of Johnny Vickers’ awesome machines qualified number one and proceeded to send the field to their trailers. Sam is a longtime Harley racer and swept the event on a Hawaya Racing machine. He qualified number one, won the race, and took the championship in both series.

Look for a story on Johnny and Sam this Winter.

Mary Dangrow, Asheville, NC, was going rounds at The Rock. Richard Boone, Mint Hill, NC, and Jay Beasley, Winston Salem, NC, also ran a Pro Fuel bike.

Told y’all I dig big motor, power-adder, no wheelie bar drag bikes. The Outlaw Street Class saw seven of them on the strip for eliminations Sunday. Best, Cary, NC, Cody Hayworth, Concord, NC, and Greg Quinn competing in the class.

Joe Petersen, Wilmington, NC, was having fun at The Rock. Friday night he treated folks to an oyster roast in Donnie Huffman’s pit. Always a Karaoke Party at Donnie’s place. And on Sunday, he really had a good time winning the Super Pro 10.30 Index Class. Among the 28 racers in Super Pro, I saw Dave Minton, Trinity, NC, and Cody Hayworth.

The Pro Eliminator 10.90 Index Class had 34 bikes entered. Most of the Carolina racers were eliminated before the final rounds. But Cody Hayworth still won the AHDRA title for 2023. I saw Rick Medford and Todd Dillon in PE too.

Ninety some racers lined up for the Law Tigers Dial-In Eliminator Class.

And Calloway Ledford, Cherokee, NC, had us cheering every time his win light came on. But shucks, in the final round he lost to Talon Harper.

For many years now The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine has presented a $200 Big Check at the Sunday morning riders’ meeting. We recognize the Dial-In Eliminator Class rider who has the best reaction time during Saturday qualifying. Thanks to Richard Stamey and Bill Rowe the pot this time was $400.

Loren Potter, the guy with the hair to match his dog, took the Big Check

with a perfect .0000 reaction time. He said he had been wanting our check for a while.

This year has seen a return of the Junior Drag Bike Classes. There are two classes based on age and index time. I saw a few racers who are the sons and daughters of racers. There was even a third generation team at The Rock. John “Hammerhead” Hughes from Florida, Austin Hughes, Michigan and Derek Wallen, Florida were all having a great weekend at Rockingham. Some of these kids are gonna be around a while and will be tough to beat.

I saw some Old Racers and Sponsors and Families at The Rock. That is the reunion race for some folks. Paul Watson was on the track PA most of the day telling folks who was running what. The Rock Crew did a great job all weekend.

And those pretty Carolina Blue Skies turned to fire reflecting on the strip as another Harley drag racing season wound down.

The shop, run by Jay Richardson with the help of Seth Fisher, recently doubled in size by acquiring the next door building providing this three bay bike shop with an official showroom complete with parts and apparel displays, topped off by a photo wall, full of captured moments in time that surrounds a huge Jaybirds Custom Cycles logo. Jaybird’s is also a certified DynoJet operator and has an inhouse DynoJet to dial in your bikes full potential. It’s a cool old school bike shop, the type you want to hang around in.

This Customer Appreciation Day was the first event since the shops expansion and the motorcycle gods granted us some great weather. Last year we endured 40 degree temps and a stiff breeze that kept the event low key. This year the brisk morning was melted away with sunny skies and temps in the 70’s. By 12:30 the parking lot was hopping and bikes were steady rolling in. the band Phoenix, LTD. played all afternoon. Like a marathon of classic rock hits from 11 am to 4pm, incredible. At one point the parking lot was so jammed there was hardly another spot for bikes to park unless they were blocking traffic. Around 1pm the Southwest Chicken Chili Soup (as I call it) was served and boy it was good. Free raffle tickets were handed out to patrons at the beverage table and the eatin’ section was packed like Chili’s on prom night.

It was good to see all our Salisbury friends and hang out with Jay and his crew. Good folks, I tell ya. To cap the day off Jay thanked everyone for coming out and handed out a pile of raffle prizes. The folks from Toys For Tots were there too.

Jaybirds Custom Cycles is a Toys For Tots drop off point and he is always tryin to outdo his last years toy haul. this year he is going for 13 boxes of toys to donate to the Toys For Tots program. Merry Christmas o me it seems a bit unreal that I am blessed with the

opportunity to celebrate Christmas this year.

Last year we were in quarantine as chemo had destroyed my immune system. My wife and I celebrated Christmas alone without the presence of family or friends in order to protect me from a potentially fatal bug.

By God’s grace we are not in quarantine this year. I have a different perspective about many things including Christmas.

Christmas has been kidnapped by the retail industry to encourage us to spend all we have with even more going on the plastic. We are encouraged to believe our love for each other is measured in how much we spend.

After the lessons of the past 18 months at our home this year we are celebrating the gift of those around our Christmas tree.

The gifts under the tree are nice and always enjoyed but in a proper perspective are a very small part of what Christmas means.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special as it is our favorite Christmas show of all time. As Charlie Brown tries to work through his struggles of life and especially Christmas he finally cries out for someone to share with him the true meaning of Christmas.

At this point Linus steps onto the stage and shares the gospel of Luke 2:10-11 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be

afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

The most remarkable event in history took place on this night. It changed the world as nothing before or since. It split the world calendar as events are now referred to as either BC or AD to reflect events prior to or after the birth of Christ.

There are over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament concerning the birth, life, and death of Christ. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Immanuel means “God with us.”

The prophecy of the Old Testament occurred as promised and Jesus Christ our savior was born of the virgin Mary. The greatest gift of love ever given is the gift of salvation to all who will believe in him, confess our sins, and invite him into our life as Lord and master.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

If you have never opened your special gift from God, salvation through a relationship with Jesus, there is no better time than Christmas. I opened this gift on December 21, 2002, and it was the best Christmas ever in our family. Be sure you have opened this gift from God to you while there is still time.

This Christmas enjoy your family, friends and help others in need. There are many toy runs, angel trees, and food banks stretched to the limit that need our help. Let’s share the Love of Christ to those around us and make this your best Christmas ever.

Toys For Tots Of Oconee County, SC Annual Toy Run

unday October 29th, 2023, was the date for the

10th Annual Oconee, SC Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots Run which helps underprivileged children receive Christmas toys.

The ride staged at 1:00 PM and departed at 2:00 pm from Norton Thompson Park in Downtown Seneca, SC. We had a police escort along the way to our destination in West Union, SC which is a route many of us travel all the time. Our destination was the West Union Fire Department at the Town Park on Railroad St. The weather was exceptional with sunny skies and temps in the 80’s. This year there were 35 bikes with 45 riders with toys strapped to their bikes. Also, there were 6 vehicles at the back of the parade. Upon arrival at the destination, we went up to the Toys for Tots Red Train with our arms full of toys. The toys were given to the volunteers who were from the Marine Corps Reserve of Seneca, SC. After delivery of the toys, some went on their way and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Thanks go out to everyone involved in the 10th Annual Marine Corps Reserve of Oconee, SC Toy Run.

Last Biker Sunday Two Trees Chili Contest

Story and photo by Alan Dockery his Summer the coolest destination for a Sunday ride was Two Trees Bar & Grill in Denver, NC. Bikers could enjoy a nice ride through the country or along Lake Norman, ending at Sunday Funday for live music, food and drink. I always saw lots of my friends there.

Shannon Porter has owned Two Trees since 2020 and made it into a local popular place for bikers and everyone. She made improvements to create a venue for all your needs in one place. Locals are thankful to her for saving a place we have enjoyed for decades.

But maintaining an old bar can be expensive. So to start raising money for Winter improvements, Shannon ended the Summer with a Chili Contest. One more Biker Sunday Funday. Inside the big room contestants put on a great spread of chili, both hot and mild, plus cornbread and a bunch of desserts. On the outside stage was a jam with members from a few of the bands that rocked us all Summer long.

Shannon took to the stage during a band break to thank the folks who made this such a great summer at Two Trees. It takes a crew to run one of our favorite bars every day and put on big Sunday parties.

This was a Peoples’ Choice contest and the people sure seemed to enjoy themselves. I can’t find the list of folks who won or placed in all the categories. But I remember Alan was the Chili Master. He won or placed higher in all the categories than the rest of us who entered. Besides his trophies, Alan took home the big prize a Bud Light Grill.

The Summer riding season has wound down, but Two Trees is still the cool place to go every day of the week. Over the

last couple years Shannon has made some improvements that the big customer base seems to love. From music and expanding the bar to Biker Concert Sunday Funday. Oh and good food too. I like to hit Two Trees on magazine delivery day for the meatloaf special. Big slab of fresh homemade meatloaf with green beans or fried okra, potatoes and gravy and iced tea.

Misty the kitchen manager serves up lots of good food.

The burgers are a big hit. Fresh meat and plenty of it. She prepares more than just ‘bar food’. The fried flounder is really yummy. They have several healthy options, from grilled chicken to salads. Two Trees’ smoked wings are famous.

Folks ride in just for the smoked wings.

Every night there is something going on. Shoot pool or toss cornhole inside all year long. Wednesday nights Two Trees’ supports local charities with Bingo for a Cause. Giving back to the community and bar family. Thursday is Bike Night.

Friday and Saturday is live music in the Tiki Bar and DJ in the main bar.

Two Trees is like bar hopping in one place with multiple bar areas.

I always think about the little main bar. From the front it doesn’t look that big. But once you check it out you see there is lots of space to party and plenty of parking out back.

At the end of October, after weeks of delays and infighting, the U.S. House of Representatives elected Representative Mike Johnson of Louisiana as the 56th Speaker of the House.

To many, Speaker Johnson was an unknown member of the House, having been in office since only 2017. Nevertheless, Mr. Johnson has ascended to the highest office in the House and is now second in line to the Presidency after the Vice President.

While unknown to many, Speaker Johnson is very familiar to the bikers of Louisiana. Over the last six years, ABATE of Louisiana has built a strong relationship with Speaker Johnson and his staff. Speaker Johnson’s district covers much of northwestern Louisiana, including the City of Shreveport.

Fortunately, ABATE of Louisiana has a strong presence in that area of the state and has met with Speaker Johnson several times. These meetings have taken place both in his Congressional District and in Washington, D.C., during Bikers Inside the Beltway Through the advocacy of ABATE of Louisiana, Speaker Johnson was a longtime cosponsor of the House motorcyclist profiling resolution and just this year joined as a cosponsor of H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act. ter riding; we’ve even had the pleasure of a scoot on Christmas day a time or two. More often than not, we plan a trip south for the holidays. The first leg of the journey has been chilly some years, but the destination is always worth it. Santa likes to spend time with his feet in the sand before the big delivery, while his elves toil day and night, hidden in the far North.

Riding Bitch with Santa is crazy special.

The Little Ones go nuts. Of course, the parents “play along”.

My HoneyBun is a man of many faces. He’s clean-shaven, smooth as a baby’s bottom, Spring and Summer, then come Fall, the mountain man starts to appear (my favorite). By December, he’s grown a full, soft beard. Yup, he’s Santa (don’t tell anyone). The kiddies are always so full of questions, while Santa likes to confuse them with silly answers. Then there’s the tiny ones that look at Santa with huge, round eyes, like they’ve never seen a big, white beard before, and quite possibly they haven’t. Plus, Santa can be very imposing, might be a bit scary at first.

Does Santa deliver presents on the motorcycle, you ask?

Well, he’d like to, cuz riding is his passion; however Santa’s bag is huge, far too big to squeeze into the saddlebags. His sleigh and reindeer are perfect for the occasion. Santa would like to thank all the Toy Run participants, it sure makes his job that much lighter. Mrs. Clause sees to it that Santa completes all his tasks in a timely manner. Oh wait, does she ride bitch?

(You bet she does.) By the way, don’t forget the snack! He adores milk and cookies but by the end of the night, he’s craving suds and tacos, just sayin’. After the last stop, Santa takes a pause. He gets on his bike when the weather permits, depending on where he decides to rest his bones. 14th Annual Steelhorse Strangers MC Toy Run

ollowing the tragic loss of his stepson, Daniel,

on December 10th 2007, Jarrett (Joker) and his wife had a tough time finding any kind of joy in the Christmas season. A few years later, Joker came up with the idea to host a Toy Run, to keep Daniels memory alive and to rediscover the warmth of the season by providing some joy to the children in the community during Christmas.

The Steelhorse Strangers MC were formed for the purpose of hosting this Toy Run. November 2010 the newly formed Steelhorse Strangers MC hosted their first Toy Run. That first year the Toy Run collected around $600 and a pickup truck bed full of toys for the kids of Pearson County, NC. The ride has steadily grown over the years into a powerhouse event that brings in hundreds of motorcycles and this year over $60,000 in donations. “When it comes to that toy run and when it comes to bikers, if it has something to do with children, they’re coming” Joker said about the huge attendance at the Steelhorse Strangers MC Toy Run over the years.

This year’s event, the 14th Annual Steelhorse Strangers MC Toy Run was held on November 12th. We’ve had a very mild fall and this Saturday event received very comfortable riding conditions. Again, the bikers responded and over 400 motorcycles roared into the parking lot at the Homestead Steakhouse in Timberlake, NC. “There was no doubt in my mind that it was gonna be big when we started this”, Joker said. The riders were greeted by music, the camaraderie of their fellow bikers and a warmth that is characteristic with the giving spirit of the season. You could even get your pic with biker Santa or the Grinch who showed up with the crowd of riders to revel in the festivities. The ride is completely escorted by LEO’s so that you take off from the steakhouse and keep rolling all through Person County until you arrive back for the after party. The events popularity has spread through the community and many folks gather along the route to wave at the bikers as they

rumble through their community. Joker leads the ride on the route and made the comment that “It really touches your heart to see the community come out and wave at us. You’ll have people out on the route dressed up in Santa outfits and Grinch costumes and I think that’s really cool”.

The events efforts go directly to Santa’s Helpers of Person County. Officials from the charity are on hand at the toy run and take possession of the donations and the boatload of toys that are collected for dispersion to the needy families of Person county. The non-profit has an application process where parents can apply to have help for their children for Christmas.

“Over 400 families have applied for help so far this year, over 800 children. And that was just in one day” Joker admitted.

The number of families and children who apply for assistance grows over Holiday season. With that many in need, It’s a good thing that the Steelhorse Strangers MC Toy Run is able to draw large crowds and donations! Joker said, “When we first started doing this, they (Santa’s Helpers) could only help kids up to 12 years old with the donations they received. Now they are at a point where, with the donations that come in, they are able to help the teenagers as well”.

When the riders arrive back at the Homestead Steakhouse they come back to a buffet feast of fried chicken, bbq and all the fixens and sides, including deserts! It’s a full spread!

Plans are already in place for next years event. The planning and fundraising for this annual event starts almost directly after the current year event ends. “I get to witness the spirit of Christmas all year long” Joker said about the yearlong outpouring of support and sponsorship the event receives.

Naturally Joker was quick to thank the event sponsors and attendees, along with all those who help the event run smoothly.

The Steelhorse Strangers are looking forward to next years event and it being the 15th Annual Toy Run, hope that it’s the biggest one yet. That would be quite a feat considering the size that this event has grown to be! The event is rain or shine, is always the second Sunday in November and should be on your event calendar!

Tiny’s Tales From The Road Passing the Torch By: Derek Sikes spend a lot of time reflecting on our collective

motorcycle culture, how it’s evolved, where it’s headed, and what role I’ve played and how I contribute to the future of motorcycle culture. I’m not playing a big part in this, but I do contribute what I can where I can. Years ago, when choppers were young, guys like David Mann and Tom Fugle probably never imagined their words would be quoted by a generation of chopper builders and riders young enough to be their great grandchildren, yet here we are, 60 years later, and there are guys with “Ride Choppers Or Fuck Off” t-shirts, stickers or tattoos. To say those men left their mark could be an understatement, but had it not been for the internet and a few chopper revival magazines they could have been lost to time. There comes a time when it’s your turn to pass the torch to a new generation, but before that torch is passed there are many opportunities to share knowledge to eager ears ready to listen and idle hands ready to work.

I had a conversation today with a buddy about a local kid in the neighborhood in his early 20’s tinkering with an old Evo Sportster. One day he waived him down and told him he had a bunch of take off parts the kid could have as spares for his bike if needed them. When he told me this it was like a light bulb going off in my head. I remember similar experiences as a young guy cutting my teeth on my Triumph and Ironhead.

That’s when I realized that it’s my generation’s turn to pass on what we’ve learned to the next generation coming up. I had a similar experience; a young man came limping into my dealership on his 1997 Dyna that he had just installed a new Super E on and said it wasn’t running right. I grabbed my screwdriver and went out to the parking lot, had him fire it up, and immediately knew he didn’t get the initial adjustments right. I showed him where the adjustments were, what the initial adjustments settings should be set at and it fired up and ran like it should in a few minutes. No Google, no YouTube, just an experienced rider showing a less experienced rider some basics, same way I learned and the same way the man that taught me learned. This young man thought I was a wizard, but I’m no wizard, just been there before and learned something. No question about it, the bikes are newer, but the process hasn’t changed much.

Not everyone I came into contact with was eager to pass the torch on my journey. There were plenty of bikers who didn’t understand why we were going back to rigid frames, drum brakes, and AMF era motors. They had been there and done that and it seemed dumb to them that we would take disc brakes off a bike and retrofit drum brakes on. Leaving brakes off was one thing, they could understand that, but they couldn’t wrap their head around taking off a disc brake Wide Glide for a spindly 33.4mm Sportster front end from the 60’s with a drum brake. Some guys weren’t super stoked about

skateboard riding punk rockers in Van’s shoes and Dickies slacks buying Panhead choppers and de-raking the frame, taking off the long springers and king and queen seats and replacing them with short front ends and Bates solo seats. They didn’t care for our bass boat flaked ¾ helmets much, either.

We were an afront to their idea of being a biker. Luckily for those coming up now, our generation (Gen X) isn’t really as hung up on that stuff.

People are still riding 20–30-year-old machines and making their bike a personal statement. It doesn’t have to be a chop-

per, it could be an FXR, an Evo Dyna, or in somewhat rare cases an old Tour Glide. When something is accessible, and by accessible, I mean cheap, someone out there is going to get their hands on it and learn something invaluable about life that they don’t teach you in school. I’m not sure why some people are drawn to older machines in a world obsessed with shiny new things, but thankfully some of us are. For myself it’s motorcycles, but there are many other hands-on trades, crafts and skills being passed on to a new generation eager to learn and DO. There are probably more forges in this country being worked than there have been in the last 100 years. What used to be a guild level trade is being picked up with DIY enthusiasm to do something. Why make a knife when you can buy one on Amazon for a few bucks? Because you can, that’s why.

Thunder Beach Didn’t Disappoint By: Brenda Reece

his year our Salisbury HOG decided that instead of

our usual fall ride to Daytona for “Biketoberfest” we would go to Panama City Beach (PCB) for “Thunder Beach”, known as the country’s most biker-friendly rally. It draws tens of thousands of people and over 200 vendors. I was excited to go, but nervous that my butt would become sore riding pillion and I wouldn’t be able to go the distance. Up until then, I had either ridden long distances in the accompanying car or we had trailered the bike.

My longest motorcycle ride had been about 5 hours and we would be riding a minimum of eleven hours on our return ride home.

We met in Concord on October 25th with KSU around 9:30. It was sunny, clear, and 39 degrees. We had decided to avoid highways and take two days to get there, planning to stop somewhere around Macon to spend the night. The ride to Macon was great. The smell of fall was in the air, the amber color of the fields and shades of green, red, and orange foliage glistened in the sun. I saw multitudes of both farm animals and wildlife. A variety of birds, deer, groundhogs, turkeys, ducks, cows, goats, lambs, horses, chickens, and even a turtle.

I also spotted more Halloween decorations than I could name.

There was very little traffic and the morning air was crisp.

The temperature rose quickly as we headed south and when we stopped for lunch, everyone’s leathers and heavy gear came off. What wouldn’t fit on the bikes was placed in the car, driven by one of our LOH members. Our journey towards Macon continued after lunch. We passed by miles and miles of peach and pecan orchards. I can’t remember a more enjoyable ride. The conditions were perfect and the landscape was awesome. After reaching the motel near Macon and unloading the bike, we rode just down the road for dinner, before retiring to our rooms for the night.

The next morning, after breakfast, we mounted up and rode toward PCB. We traveled down GA-49S. It was perfect weather, 80-84 degrees and the traffic conditions could not have been better for the six-hour ride to our destination. We found our motel, got settled into our rooms, and oriented ourselves to our home for the next few days. Several of us went to a nearby restaurant to listen to a band and try the local seafood.

Friday morning after an early breakfast, we headed to Frank Brown Park. Bikes from across the country rolled in. Some riders wore helmets and many others didn’t. Florida doesn’t require helmets. But as much as I would have liked to feel the wind in my hair, I liked the idea of keeping my brain intact even better. Once parked, we walked around scoping out our favorite vendors and purchasing our usual rally souvenirs.

I also scored a new rainsuit. When we departed there, we stopped to check out the vendors and sites at H-D of Panama City Beach before heading to The Outpost on Black Creek in

Freeport, FL., about an hour or so away. We had one close encounter on the way when some idiot in a truck nearly hit us head-on when trying to pass a line of traffic. Upon arrival, we knew we were at the right place. There were bikes everywhere, and a line of people coming out from the door. A band was playing on one of the stages. Fortunately, the line moved fairly fast. We ordered our food and drinks, found a table sat back, listened to the music, talked to friends, and took in the view. After we finished eating, we rode on to Destin to check out the beaches and Emerald Coast H-D, before riding back to our hotel in PCB. We ended the evening with a dip in the hotel’s hot tub.

Saturday’s itinerary included a ride to the St. Joe’s Shrimp Company in Port St Joe, FL. Again, we chose to avoid highways. It ended up being a three-hour ride to get there. We enjoyed a delicious meal, took some photos, and stopped for a quick stroll on the beach before heading back to PCB to pack up and prepare for our long ride back to Kannapolis.

We departed PBC early Sunday morning, setting our GPS’s for the quickest route home. We made great time and even managed to make it through the bumper-to-bumper traffic through Atlanta fairly easily. I managed to ride the entire way back, which unfortunately took 13 hours due to some road construction and subsequent mechanical problems on I-85 near Gaffney, SC. As it turns out, I enjoyed riding to and from, in, and around Florida’s panhandle. The rides were exhilarating and sometimes exhausting, the food was tasty and the folks we met were friendly and kind. I had no problem riding the almost 1500 miles we traveled over the five-day trip.

Story and photos by Alan Dockery he All Harley World Shootout series finished the 2023 season at Farmington Dragway in North Carolina. This famous old drag strip is one of several in Western NC and was packed with fans the first weekend of November. The track had been closed most of the Summer for repaving and was ready to get back to racing.

AHWS events are managed by Paul Watson of Lumbee Racing and he puts on a great show for Harley drags fans. I know y’all dig Harley Drags at The Farm for many years. Besides the thundering Harleys roaring down the strip, there was more to entertain folks.

Fans could shop vendors or walk the pits talking to race teams. There were plenty of vendors there with all the cool things bikers need.

Tilley Harley-Davidson, Statesville, had a nice big setup in the staging lanes. I saw some of the Tilley family members and employees at Farmington. Love those folks and their friendly family-owned dealership. The Tilleys have a

long racing history since Don Tilley was famous for building Harleys that whupped the rest of the world in several types of racing for many years. Tripp Nobles has ridden several of Tilley’s race bikes over the years and came up from Georgia to race a real pretty, black and orange Sportster.

The All Harley World Shootout is about racing and action on the strip. Friday was just test and tune and grudge match racing. Bring your quick bike, maybe bet a little and have fun. Saturday the AHWS gets busy and is an all-day party at the drag strip for bikers. Fans showed up and the support was amazing. The AHWS just continues to grow and grow. It has become its own brand in the Harley race arena.

The quickest machines on the strip that weekend were the Pro Outlaws. Bikes with big engines and power-adders. Gregg Dahl (GMS Racing), Mike Motto (Holeshot Racing) , and Ken Miller (Ken Miller Racing) put on a show. Gregg Dahl set a new 1/8 mile speed record of 151.77 mph and a Farmington track record with a 4.96 ET. Yes, metric motorcycles were there. Paul invited them to run

A few rounds of qualifying and it was time for eliminations and to see who would be flashing the cash in the Winner’s Circle. Paul wrapped up the race and series for us below.

Mayhem In Midway 3

and how way back, when things were done right. Well, that’s how we came up with Mayhem In Midway. We wanted to throw an old school biker camp out, just a ride your motorcycle in pitch a tent and party with your friends’ kind of weekend. No trailers, no campers, no showers, just a good old fashioned field party. Luckily, we have great friends like Lyn Shannon who, by offering her property as the Field Of Mayhem, became the Mayor of Mayhem and made this event possible year after year.

Mayhem in Midway 3 was set for September 29-30, the third year and the third different event date. The event started out in mid-October 2021, then last year was shifted to late October. Mayhem 2 we were camping in the 30 degrees wasn’t exactly ideal, so we went for a warmer possibility and slid to a weekend in between Outer Banks Bike Fest and Myrtle Beach Fall Rally. The weather was gonna be great and we were ready to party. Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers, Bob Karney and Sean Clayton, were on board for a good time and were our main sponsor of the event. You couldn’t miss the CBL van by the main gate with the inflatable bulldog and a gaggle of CBL gals handing out swag.

Friday was set up day for both vendors and campers but the hard work was repaid by a keg party and an oyster roast that night. Five o’clock a frosty keg of PBR was tapped and the oysters were already steamin’. The US Military Vets MC was cooking up some eats for those not interested in gobbling up snot rocks. Mayhem is otherwise a BYOB event and so we do quite a bit of aluminum recycling. Close to 8pm we held a chugging championship to jumpstart the shenanigans.

Men’s and women’s divisions chugged it out to determine who could swallow faster. It was icy cold beer too, not an easy task! After several rounds the women’s champ Becky Kephart defeated men’s champ Cam Furgeson (it was Cam’s birthday too) to be the outright Chugging Champion. It was a pretty low key night, just several camp site parties raging into the night. We had Kristin Shipwash pinstripe and letter a vintage chrome toaster (she did a killer job!) to give to the heavi-

for the day. Shout out to Ted with Jaybirds Custom Cycles camp for bringing up a heaping plate of breakfast for the Full Throttle Tent. That shit was delicious, except the liver mush, you can keep that to yourself! Mojo Stomp provided the tunes for the day and lemme tell ya, these guys really lay it down. They have an album out on CD and you can listen to it on Spotify if not other places, but hearing these guys live is awesome. They played mini sets ALL DAY LONG and even supplied the music for the wet T-shirt contest, but we will get to that later.

They set the tempo for the day and I’m not afraid to say they are my favorite Mayhem band yet, and that says a lot, cause we’ve had some killer bands out there. est partiers as the Toasted Award. It was a resurrected Full Throttle tradition from the early 2000’s. In the morning it was clear that the Sinister Saints MC campsite just past the main bonfire was the rowdiest of them all and collectively won the Toasted Award for Mayhem In Midway 3. A prestige award for sure, one that I’m sure they will cherish for years. Honestly though, I think we will add a box of Goody Powders to the prize in the future!

Saturday hosts a full schedule of biker type activities, but before any of that happens, coffee is needed. We had to clean all the beer cans out of the Field of Mayhem and get reset

The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers Ride-In Bike Show The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers Ride-In Bike Show is technically the first event of the day. The free registration for the bike show starts at 11am and runs to 2pm. There is $1000 up for grabs in the bike show with the only stipulation being that you ride the bike into the show. Yeah, it’s dusty, and the bikes have bugs and morning dew on them. That’s the way motorcycle camping gets! Alisha and Scott maned the registration booth all day long and piled in around 50 bikes in the show.

It took all day to judge the bikes and the awards that were supposed to be at 4pm were finally handed out around 5pm. Most of the bike show winners were there, but we had to call a few back to claim their prize, FU Chad. Each class winner snagged $100 and a plaque. Best In Show was a no brainer. Puput Yuwana is always riding something cool and rode in on a 1953 one year color Forest Green original paint, FL Panhead that is an absolute head turner. Puput took home $500, and I was glad to give it to him.

Smokin’ Harley-Davidson Bike Games While the bike show was going on the Smokin’ HarleyDavidson Bike Games had the Field Of Mayhem packed with bikes and folks cheering them on. John Luther of Lone Wolf Biker Entertainment and his crew ran the bike games again this year and they do one hell of a job. Smokin’ HarleyDavidson was set up on the Field of Mayhem as well with some bikes from their showroom and some killer giveaways, but most importantly they brought $500 in cash for the bike game winners. John officiated 5 bike games, each with $100 cash prize for the winners. The slow race was quite the battle but ended up going to Puput on his ‘53 FL, he obviously had a hell of a good day! Next up was pick em up and put em down. Hessie and his other half picked up and put down the most tennis balls from the line of cones and was rewarded with $100. Honey I’m Home was next and probably the most fun to watch. The basis for this event is that you’ve shacked up with someone else’s Ol Lady or Ol Man. The game begins when John calls out “Honey I’m Home” and the contestants have to dress in over sized clothes, climb through a make shift window, get on their bike and get out of there quick! Reminds me of that old Allman Brothers Band song “One Way Out”. I didn’t catch the winners name for this one, but they seemed to have plenty of practice dressing one another! Poke Her and Run was up next, and Zach and Kristin demonstrated that they could work the equipment better than anyone else as Zach put his plunger stick through her toilet paper roll and got back across the line the quickest. Bam, $100 for them. Last game of the day is the weenie bite, the most classic of all bike games.

No need to describe this one. There were a bunch of nibblers, others that just smeared condiments across their face but Casey took the biggest bite and to the crowd’s pleasure, did it topless. Atta girl! $100 for Casey and her other half James.

12th Annual Bulldog Hero Awards Bob Karney, Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer and his wife Ginger came up with the Bulldog Hero Awards as a way to give back to the biker community. This year the 12th class of Bulldog Hero Nominees took to the Field of Mayhem to find out who were awarded Bulldog Heroes of the Year and donate a collective $10K to their charities of choice. These 14 bikers were nominated by their peers because of their exemplary service to the biker community. Once nominated, the vote goes public on Karneylaw.com, and the winner is announced at Mayhem

In Midway. Bob and Ginger along with Macy and firm partner Sean Clayton took the stage to recognize all the nominees prior to revealing the winners. Bob introduced the nominees one by one as they walked up to the stage to be recognized.

All the nominees were awarded $200 each to donate to their charity of choice, but the top three Bulldog Heroes were yet to be announced! Nathan Armas, President of the Mooresville Chapter of the Guardians of the Children, was 3rd place Bulldog hero for his work with the GOC. Nathan was awarded $2000 for his charity of choice. Mike Lipford of Crossroads Harley-Davidson took 2nd place Bulldog Hero for his work with children, homeless and other charities in his community.

The winner of the 2023 Bulldog Hero Of The Year was...drum roll, please....David Blum! David is a motorcycle awareness instructor and an advocate for motorcyclists’ rights. David’s involvement in the community, helping bikers has won him this great honor and $5000 to be donated to a charity of his choice. A huge congratulations to all the Bulldog Heroes and a huge thank you to Bob, Ginger, Sean & Macy. for giving back to our community!

Clemmons Motorcycles Inc. Hard Ass Award Kenny and MaryAnn Gilley of Clemmons Motorcycles Inc are bikers through and through. They have supported Mayhem in Midway from day one and also support riders who embrace the riding lifestyle. Each year they offer up $500 in cash

and some awesome trophies for the riders who log the most miles on their way to Mayhem In Midway. All weekend long those who have made any length trek to the event turn in proof of their journey at the Clemmons Motorcycles Inc. tent to see if they can cash in, literally. Getting rewarded simply for riding your motorcycle to a kick ass event, what a deal, right? As the dust settled on the afternoon, Kenny announced that he had the winners figured. Bullet won the men’s competition and Stephanie won the ladies competition. Both had ridden well over 200 miles to get to the event. Bullet had done it on his shovelhead that he’s racked up over 300,000 miles on during his riding career. Both rode away with $250 cash and Bullet having the higher achievement took home a killer custom trophy as well!

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Blue Collar Cycle Company Burnout Competition The crowd on the Field of Mayhem now had to make room for The Rebel Spirit Burnout Pit. We drug the burnout pit out to the center of the field for the Blue Collar Cycle Company Burnout Competition. It’s never hard to get a crowd together for the burnout competition, especially at Mayhem In Midway.

Blue Collar Cycle Company makes it worth the competitors while by handing out cash prizes and new tires to the top 3 burnouts. I consider each event at Mayhem the main event, but this is certainly one of the crowd pleasers. Once the announcement was made, folks rode over to the BCCC tent to sign up for the event. It was one hell of a competition with each burnout having a little of its own flare. there was the usual shotgunning of beers while rolling a burnout, and this year we had cruise control / no hands burnouts, one dude stepped off his bike and stood beside it whilst still roasting his tire. I love this event for the shear disregard of anything but having a good time. There is no plausible reason to do a burnout, other than just saying “F$%k it, let’s have some fun”. I guess in this case another good reason to do a burnout is to get a new rear tire and a handful of cash! After the lot sent smoke signals up high enough for Greta Thornburg to get the message, the Blue Collar Crew deliberated on who should ride away victorious.

Neveah McNeely took the mic in place of her pops and made the announcement. Ray (Balls) took home 3rd place, Cody Tysinger 2nd Place and Devin Snider took home the top honors as the Mayhem In Midway 3 Burnout King. Congrats yall, ya put on a hell of a show!

Jaybird Custom Cycles Ms. Mayhem Wet TShirt Contest The last official event of Mayhem In Midway is the Wet TShirt Contest! In this event, we are allllll winners, but Jaybird makes sure that the ladies are compensated offering up a $500 first place prize! In years past the ladies acted a little shy prior to the competition and we had to do some recruiting to get a full panel of contestants. Not this year! The prize money or maybe the liquid encouragement had enticed 12 lovely ladies to sign up. All contestants received a white Jaybirds Custom Cycles tank top to wear and were brought up on stage for introductions. The crowd that bellied up to the stage were a fine group of Gentlemen and a few ladies and donated an extra $500 to the contest! Now we had $600 for first place and $400 for second place. The Smak Shop who was vending some smack talking shirts and accessories donated some items for a third place award. Holy shit! we have a full fledged competition now! We even had a panel of lovely ladies that generously volunteered to pour the icy water over the contestants!

Mojo Stomp kicked up some dancing music and the ladies did their thing. This year’s show had it all: grinding, motorboating, twerking, and a whole lot of dirty dancin’. We had so much fun that we started running low on water and we started with a full trash can. In the end, a mix of judging and crowd

participation landed Makala as the winner of the Ms. Mayhem Wet T-shirt contest and she claimed the $500 from Jaybirds Custom Cycles, The runner up wasn’t too upset to take home $400 but they both earned that money!

At this point in the evening Mojo Stomp jammed a couple more songs as the crowd wondered around the Field of Mayhem talking to their favorite Ms. Mayhem contestants and making plans for the rest of the evening. Some ride out, some head down to the bonfire to continue the party. The Full Throttle Crew rounded up some of our event stuff and went to sit down for a minute. These events are a ton of fun but take a lot of work. I get a lot of the credit for this stuff, but I have a great group of people helping me out that actually make the event happen. Bad Brad, my sister Lydia, Joah and Travis, and my brother Lucas all pitch in to keep the event rolling behind the scenes. My wife Maggie is the foreman of that crew and not only works her ass of during the event but puts up with me during the months of planning and stress that I put her through. The Executive Editor of this fine magazine, my mom, Molly, also puts in a lot of support and keeps me in line year round. Naturally, we couldn’t do this at all without Lyn Shannon, the Mayor Of Mayhem, and all her hard work prepping the Field of Mayhem. Who knows you may have attended the last of this epic event. But then again, I have said “never again” after each one of these events. f you aren’t well equipped with proper tools and a solid foundation of knowledge pertaining to British machinery, Building

a 1969 BSA A65 Lightning can easily go wrong. Starting with neither of the aforementioned items and a beaten and bent up example of a bsa chopper from long ago, the boys at Half-Ass Cycles and Rods dove in head first into tearing apart this BSA 650 to rebuild the bike into a completely new machine.

Daniel Beemer, the fearless leader of the shop, sat down with father-in-law Stephen Dowdy and devised a plan for this bike: make sure it runs, tear it completely apart, and rebuild it into a 60-70’s show bike inspired chopper.

After about two years worth of disassembly, chasing oil leak after oil leak, sanding and polishing until fingers were raw, custom fabricating pipes (inspired by a few too many beverages and some flex pipe and zip ties during mock up), and tirelessly taping and painting by everyone in the shop, the 69’ BSA rose from the ashes like a flamboyant phoenix in the night!

The much anticipated victory lap was short lived, though, thanks to a deer and invasion of personal space. This close encounter put the BSA back on the lift to fix a few knicks and scrapes. But as soon as the loose ends had been tied up, the test drive sequel commenced and now this A65 is ready for it’s new home. When asked what their favorite memory of building the BSA, a resounding answer was received: “I’d say the late nights with all y’all (the guys at the shop) wrenching away and having plenty of laughs was the best” said Beemer.

This first offering from Half-Ass Cycles and Rods was a learning experience for everyone involved, a bonding experience for everyone involved, and a creator of core memories for everyone involved, but it is a chopper after all, and isn’t that the usual outcome with machines like this?

adults. Folks build custom show bikes and race minis on all kinds of courses. Now we have The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Minibike Drag Racing Series wrapping up a second season.

It started with me saying I know some guys with quick drag minibikes who can do an exhibition. The fans loved them and Paul Watson said let’s make this a regular thing. At the All Harley World Shootout finals at Farmington Dragway we ran five classes of minibike racers. Over the summer racers have come from Florida and Michigan and along the East Coast to race in our series.

We have created five classes, sanctioned by the American Minibike Drag Racing Association, and rules. With an established set of rules, racers from anywhere can build to the class they want and know they should pass technical inspection.

They can use the same class rules back home.

Dial-In ET Class is just like any other. You set the time it should take you to run the eight mile. Super Stock Slayer bikes have limited modifications. Small Block Destroyers get turned up a few notches and are quicker. Big Block Annihilator is for the folks who really want to the get the other end of the strip in a hurry. Pro Outlaw machines can run with some of the hotrod Harleys.

In 2024 we expect to add some Kids Classes too. Probably two classes based on age and index times. Start building this Winter.

The current records are: Super Stock Slayer – Chance Storey with a 9.19 second pass and 73.4 mph. Small Block Destroyer – Charles Hassinger with a 7.65 and 81.48 mph.

Big Block Annihilator – Phillip Green 7.69 and 82.08 mph.

Pro Outlaw – John Inzerello with a blistering 7.52 seconds and 90.45 mph. Yes, those are some quick times for such little machines with what start as lawn mower motors.

Our last race of 2023 was at Farmington Dragway the first weekend of November. Some of the regulars were there going for the championship. New guys too who have fresh builds and are looking to race seriously next year. The Cars And Cameras Guys were at The Farm and did an excellent video of their weekend. Look them up on You Tube to see how they went from new guys to winning and busting records.

The Farmington winners were: ET Time Warp - Tyler Norris. Super Stock Slayer - Joshua Arch. Small Block Destroyer - Charles Hassinger.

Big Block Annihilator - Bobby Danielson. Pro Outlaw John Inzerello.

Season champions are: ET Time Warp – Chris Fulmer. Super Stock Slayer – Tony Witz. Small Block Destroyer – Tyler Norris. Big Block Annihilator – Phillip Green. Pro Outlaw - Nathan Thompson.

The folks who make the racing series really work are Doug “Hippy” Dixon and Hannah Stewart. They are closely involved in minibikes and the folks who race them and have a shop working on the machines. I can’t thank them enough for taking on this challenge.

In Memory Of Preacher Steve Ervin 12/3/1946 - 11/4/2023 As some of you already know, Preacher Steve left behind his earthly body and went to be with his savior Jesus Christ in heaven. He passed away around 2am November the 4th with his wife Carolyn and other family by his side. Preacher Steve had just come through a battle with cancer and was cancer free at the time of his death but all of the radiation treatments left him very weak and he ended up with double pneumonia and his body just couldn’t fight back. For me I can only be happy for him because I know he is where he wants to be, the place he has been preaching about for all these years worshiping Jesus, hanging out with friends and family that have gone home before him. What a great celebration there must have been when he got there!

I guess if Preacher Steve could say anything to us right now he would be asking “what’s your deal, what’s stopping you from coming to Jesus right now”. See the thing is Preacher Steve knew that we’re not promised tomorrow unless we give our hearts to Jesus. Then we have the promise of God that we will live forever with Him in paradise.

I thank God that more than 30 years ago someone told Preacher Steve about Jesus and that the power of God changed his and Carolyn’s life forever. I didn’t know Preacher Steve back then but I’m sure those that did we’re thinking this will never last, but more than 30 years later might be thinking that if God could do this for him he can do it for me. I’m here to tell you He can and will if you just give Him a chance. Hey if it don’t work out Satan will always have you back.
