Summer weather is in full swing, there’s a ton of places to ride to and parties to attend. July is the month that we celebrate our American Independence from tyranny. I absolutely love riding through the rural parts of the state that decorate with the red white and blue bunting and extra American flags while soaking in the July sun. It brings back childhood memories of warm nights, summer’s freedom from schedules, fireworks and being around friends and family. Although not a lot has changed, other than my age, and now I have to pay for the fireworks. I still enjoy the warm summer nights and seeing friends and family out and about. Independence is a word that many Americans take for granted, but as bikers we still understand. That’s what we are looking for every time we swing our leg over the motorcycle, Independence, the freedom of the open road… and a great watering hole, but mostly freedom. So, in fact, bikers celebrate Independence all year long, not to mention that veterans and active military make up a large part of our motorcycle community. Don’t forget to put out the flag and the bunting for July 4th weekend and maybe leave it out for the rest of the summer, at least. I love seeing Old Glory waving in the Carolina breeze. While you are searching for some freedom, check out the Cruisin’ Calendar for some event suggestions. Pick a new event that you’ve never been too then get out there and put some miles on. If events are your thing, I get it, good thing there are plenty of great riding roads to scratch your riding itch. Make sure you check out Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad on the front cover of this month’s magazine. Monty Hendrix and his team have worked hard for a reputation built on great customer service and of course the stellar lineup of America’s First Motorcycle, Indian Motorcycle. You can read all about Monty and his Indian Motorcycle journey on page 4. Better yet, stop by their new location at 2924 North Main Street in High Point, NC.

Cover Story
And The History Of
Indian Motorcycles Greensboro Triad
By: Lloyd Luquer had the pleasure the other day to sit back and get
to know Monty Hendrix, owner of Indian Motorcycle Greensboro TRIAD & World Class Powersports High Point. I’d have to say I learned some interesting things about Monty as well as some pretty interesting history about the Indian Motorcycle legacy and Monty’s journey through the years. Monty and his wife were owners of a small chain of martial arts studios in the Greater Greensboro area with nearly 500 students. However, something special happened in August of 2013. In that month Polaris Industries released their long awaited and newly designed line of Indian Motorcycles at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally after obtaining the iconic brand a couple years earlier. Very shortly thereafter, Monty reached out to the new Indian Motorcycle company to inquire about opening an Indian Motorcycle dealership in Greensboro N.C. and growing the brand to serve the Triad and surrounding areas. At that point, Polaris Industries and the Indian Motorcycle company sent a dealer development representative to meet with Monty and to learn more about what the Triad area had to
offer. After a lengthy approval process and then an extensive building upgrade Indian Motorcycle of Greensboro opened its doors on May 4th, 2014, in the historic area of downtown Greensboro. Early on, Monty says there were a lot of sleepless nights and personal sacrifice. “To get going, I cashed out my retirement plans, utilized my savings and took out multiple loans while not taking a personal paycheck from Indian Motorcycle Greensboro for a year and a half to make sure I could support my staffing payroll along with all the other expenses involved with a new business.” Monty says “ When I opened Indian Motorcycle Greensboro I had just turned 40 years old the month before and had a seven year old son and a four year old daughter at home. I told my wife Ellen that if it fails then I’m young enough to still get us back on our feet. She never doubted me and just kept saying ‘GO FOR IT’... but I’m sure she was nervous. Luckily Ellen is also a high ranking black belt so shortly after we opened the Indian Motorcycle dealership, she stepped into a full time management role with our martial arts business to help keep it on track.” Later in 2014 Monty made his first effort to expand Indian Motorcycle Greensboro when he bought into the Polaris Slingshot brand, becoming one of the first run of Slingshot dealerships in the world!! Then in November, 2014 he took another big step by purchasing the Victory Motorcycle brand from World Class Powersports in High Point, NC and moving the brand to Indian Motorcycle Greensboro. 2015 & 2016 were busy years as the Indian Motorcycle brand continued to grow and gain more and more momentum. As 2016 was coming to a close Monty was looking to expand by adding a second dealership and on April 1st, 2017, he took over ownership of World Class Powersports
rotten 2 bedroom apartment with a buddy. But my Mom and Dad always taught me to keep grinding. It’s been a long hard road but I took chances and surrounded myself with hard working, intelligent staff members along with having great support and encouragement from my wife, my children and my mom and dad. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had good luck and I’ve had bad luck but what this life journey has taught me is if you get knocked down three times - you get back up four times!” The High Point location offers easy access in the center of the triad with many surrounding amenities for gas, food, etc. and being located just off HWY 74/311 makes for easier conditions for all customers coming and going. With more than 1 ¾ acre of real estate there’s plenty of room to expand as needed. Be sure to drop by and meet the friendly staff and say hello to L-R: Bob McBride, Robbie McKusick, Monty Hendrix, Kevin Schulman, Essa Ganim Monty. Check out the line-up, apparel, parts and (Not Pictured: Lonnie Southern) accessories, and don’t forget they have a full service maintenance staff on hand. You won’t be disappointed. There are in High Point, NC which sold Polaris off road vehicles and many great things to look forward to at Indian Motorcycle the Polaris Slingshot. Monty told me, “Having two locations Greensboro TRIAD. In fact, Monty just told me they will was exciting but it was very involved because I was splitting soon be offering the HUCK CYCLES brand of bikes which my time between the High Point and Greensboro dealerships. are made in North Carolina and are lightweight, all electric, After four years of running back and forth I decided it was low speed bikes for buyers who are looking for a fun way time to consider exercising our option to purchase the High to cut the cord at the gas pump while finding new ways to Point building where my second dealership was located and explore their surroundings! Hope to see you all at Indian Momove Indian Motorcycles there and into a second showroom torcycle Greensboro Triad and World Class Powersports High that was not being utilized. Plus the visibility and accessibility Point soon and thanks, Monty Hendrix, for the fun filled and of the dealership building in High Point has always been really informative conversation. It’s been quite the journey. amazing because its right off Highway 74/311 and North Main St.” In early 2021 Monty started a serious discussion with Polaris Industries and the Indian Motorcycle Company about relocating Indian Motorcycle Greensboro. They agreed it was a great idea. So, on July 14th, 2021 Monty purchased the High Point dealership property that he had been leasing and in December of 2021 the process of moving Indian Motorcycle Greensboro began and was completed in time to reopen for business on December 22nd, 2021 under the new name of Indian Motorcycle Greensboro TRIAD. Monty said of the new name, “Even though we are now in High Point, we want to leave Greensboro in the name at this time because we originally opened to service the Greater Greensboro & Triad area and that is what we continue to do and do well. Plus keeping the name consistent has helped the community and our customers understand this is not a new dealership but rather the same friendly staff that have simply moved to a more modern facility.” Monty went on to tell me, “Every step of this journey has been tough. As a young man I was a top 10 national martial arts competitor, I’ve run the Chicago Marathon and once even raced in a half marathon and a triathlon both within 24 hours but nothing I have done has been as challenging as operating a motorcycle and powersports dealership. I started my martial arts business in July of 1996 as a 22 year old college graduate. L-R: Zach Stanley, Trish Stone, Monty Hendrix, Willy Brincefield, Amanda Hunt By December of that year I was out of money and living in a (Not pictured: Heather Hooper)

Street Survivor’s 45th Anniversary Party
Story and photo by Alan Dockery
ay starts getting busy with lots of rides, but
the afternoon of the 14th I took a ride down an old goat path in Newton. It led me to Pott Creek Camp where the Street Survivor’s were celebrating their 45th Anniversary. One of the oldest clubs in the Hickory area. They are still an active group that participates in rides and local events. It was good to relax with old friends and enjoy catering by Eva Mae’s Catering out of Shelby, NC. We had a few cold beers while we talked about rides and rallies gone by while listening to some southern rock. Several of the old friends grown kids are now riding and getting more involved in the biker life. I saw several patches from area clubs celebrating with the Street Survivors. Mid-afternoon folks were ready to get up and into some Biker Games. Tinman got folks in the field for a Slow Race, Plank Ride and Weenie Bite. Trouble won the Slow Race. Jaw went the farthest on the plank. Muscles got a bite of the weenie for the win as Stump slowly rolled under the rig. I talked with Big D, Sam Dunn, who at 76 years old is the surviving member of the guys who started the Street Survivors. “We have been a family club from the beginning, he said. There were times you could bring kids to the club house for some events.” Not all. The club has been involved in charities, Christian organizations, aid to the homeless, orphans and others in need. Forty-five years ago, we were probably the biggest club around at the time with 33 members, Big D said. “Bill Winfield and Pops Bollinger and I started a club called the Iron Knights. Another club, The Hawks, club house burned down and they didn’t have a place to meet. They approached us about merging the two clubs. They didn’t want to go with the Iron Knights and we didn’t want to go with the Hawks. So, Gerald Honeycutt ‘Dawg’ and Luke Saine ‘Spook’ came up with the Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors name and everyone liked it.” “We have gone up and down in membership numbers over the years,” he said. “We are continuing to grow with new younger members. We ride and party with the other clubs in
the area.” The club president “Buddha” said he would like to thank all the MC’s and RC’s that attended our party. Also, all the other family and friends that joined us. See all of you next year!

Bud’s Bike Fest
By Rob Harper
12 was hot and muggy with slight chance of an afternoon shower, but it’s summer in eastern NC so that’s expected. I had already determined it was a good day to ride. I checked the Cruisin Calendar, and was reminded that Bud’s Tavern Bike Fest was happening from noon to 4pm. I put on my Full Throttle shirt, jumped on the Road King and headed to Youngsville. A few minutes after 1pm, I was greeted by some members of VFW Post 8466 at the entrance. I could see the parking lot was already full, and I had to park in the overflow lot which was nearly half full. It was looking to be a very successful event. Walking back to the main area, Johnson County’s Automag was rocking the crowd with a mix of country and rock cover tunes, as well as several original numbers. The band was definitely keeping everybody entertained. In the crowd was Tommy Redd, who is lead guitar player for another NC band, Nantucket. I talked with Tommy a bit and bought him a beer. Twenty-Two vendors were selling all kinds of things including food, jewelry, clothing and more. Bud’s had the inside bar, deck bar and the outpost bar all serving up cold beverages. VFW Post 8466 and Smokin Santa’s Que Crew were keeping everybody fed. une
Bike Show Winners
There were some pretty cool bikes in the bike show. Bike show winners were Rick Davis 1st (2013 Victory Vision), 2nd Doran Johnson (2014 HD Street Glide), 3rd Harry Coombs (1938 BMW R-71). Winners received a Bud’s gift certificate, and an award from Shrum Graphics. A large table was filled with raffle prizes, which were donated by local businesses. A total of $3000 was raised for Duke’s Children’s Hospital. There was another raffle for a 1200 Sportster. Proceeds from that went to Harper Harrell, the Bud’s Bike Fest guest of honor, who is battling leukemia. Bud’s has hosted some poker runs and other smaller events, but nothing this large. A big shout out goes to Bud’s event coordinator Renae, and her partners in crime Chris and Crash, as well as proprietor Buck who had faith in “The Trio”. They made this event happen in just two months. Major sponsors of the event were Tobacco Road HD, Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group, East Coast Drilling & Blasting Inc, Tar River Arms and Shrum Graphics There’s already a lot of excitement brewing for Bud’s 2nd Annual Bike Fest.

Carolinas’ ull Throttle Magazine CCIB T/heCRKA 18thFAnnual Renee Ledford Memorial Party
By Wally Wersching n Friday June 3rd and Saturday June 4th, the CCIB Land was where the Cleveland County Independent Bikers (CCIB) and ClevelandRutherford Kidney Association (CRKA) held their 18th Annual Renee Ledford Memorial Party. All proceeds going to Cleveland-Rutherford Kidney Association. Renee Ledford was responsible for bringing the CCIB and the CRKA together many years ago, so after she passed away; they started having the party in her memory. Friday night, they had “Skin Deep” on the stage. I learned that they didn’t have a big crowd that night because of the passing showers. They were hoping for a large crowd for Saturday night when the weather was supposed to be great. Saturday morning was the poker run with the first bike out at 11:00AM. I arrived at the CCIB Land at a little after 10:00AM and placed a stack of Full Throttle magazines on the registration table. As it got closer to 11:00AM, people were arriving, and congregating around a small building just outside the gate where they were registering for the Poker Run. I love com-
ing to these events. I get to see people who I don’t normally see – like “Radar”. We used to work together, and I’d see him every day. That was a few lifetimes ago, and we always had fun together. Now I see him only a couple times a year. “Grumpy” was there, and we talked for a while. We have a lot in common. I walked to the registration table, and listened to the men and women talking, laughing, and having fun. At exactly 11:00AM, they lined up, and within a few minutes, they were all gone on their way to Forest City. There were stops at House of Payne in Forest City, the Windjammers Clubhouse in Shelby, the CCIB clubhouse in Shelby, the Vintage Dog in Boiling Springs, and finally back at the CCIB Land in Mooresboro, NC. Later in the afternoon when all the bikes were back from the Poker Run, they had a bike show, and games. At night, the band “Rutherford County Line” performed on stage. They event garnered just under $11,000 to the Kidney Association. It was a win-win situation. They had a lot of fun while donating to a great cause. Check out The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Cruisin’ Calendar for future CCIB events.

Myrtle Beach Bike Week
The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine

By: Lincoln Infield
Beach, Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach… It’s the biker time share of South Carolina. Just about every two-wheel party animal on the east coast makes the biannual trip to the biggest biker party in South Carolina. This year’s rally goers arrived in record breaking numbers and were greeted by beautiful weather, spectacular band lineups, beautiful bar maids and a party the stretched all the way down the Grand Strand. Beach House Harley-Davidson in Shallotte, NC was holding down the north end of the party and was the best riding destination of the week, just don’t forget your helmet! You can hit Beach House H-D on your way to Myrtle Beach or take a day trip to check it out, its only 45 minutes from Myrtle Beach, but your gonna need all day to take it in! Beach House H-D had it all: bikes, vendors, bands, demos, food, sales and more! The vendor row was packed with biker goods, drinks and The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers. The Lockwood River Band was jamming out some classic hits, I even heard some Beatles and Tom Petty tunes. Beach House HD even had Dealer Demo rides May 19-21, featuring all the popular and newest HD models. Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer Sean Clayton and myself spent half the day scootin around with the Beach House H.O.G club trying out all the demo rides. The New LiveWire and the Sportster S were the hot ticket though. Other Myrtle Beach Bike Week hot spots were packed out all week. Suck Bang Blow hosted Rebel Son for four nights, packing out this biker mecca with fans of the best biker band in the south. Spokes N Bones stayed packed all week too, I even ran into the world famous Thunder and his better half Kelly Baby there. You can check out Thunders artwork every month in the ThunderZone biker toon in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine! The Rat Hole of Myrtle Beach has acres of biker entertainment, a dozen different bars, and THE biker rodeo of the Southeast. Cowboy keeps the crowd going all day and the rodeo riders put on a hell of a show. The rodeo is yrtle

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine open to road hard bikers who think they got what it takes. Keg pushin’, waitress carry’n, weenie bitin’ and all kinds of biker games keep the stands full at the Rat Hole all day and into the night. After the sun goes down Cowboy and his staff pull out the Puddin’ Wrestling ring and take up a donation from the crowd to get some biker hunnies to take a roll in the puddin’ for a wad of cash! The prize money gets up close to the 1k mark and makes for some great puddin’ wrestling! Later in the evening The Rat Hole turns into a “adult only” party as the bar games include “hide the sausage”, wet t-shirt contest and other biker favorites. The Hole gets packed but there is plenty of bike parking! Myrtle Beach Bike Week swells all week long and the last weekend of the rally is always full tilt. Local year round biker bars are throwing the party of the year and nobody does it better than Bubba’s Bar and Grill on Dick Pond Rd. in Myrtle Beach. Bubba’s Bar and Grill is in a “U” shaped plaza and shares the space with Fishtails Biker Consignment Shop. While Bubba’s is slinging Ice Cold beverages and awesome bar eats, Fishtails has a ton of bike parts, apparel, and biker trinkets all at fantastic prices. Bubba’s has been voted the best biker bar in town for the past 3 years making it the perfect place to host The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Ride In Bike Show on Saturday, May 21 sponsored by The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine and The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers set up on the lot in front of Bubba’s and Fishtails and registered over 40 bikes in 2 hours and packed the parking lot with show bikes and bikers looking for a good time. Local rock stars, The Devils Cut, were set to rock Bubba’s and delivered as usual. The Devils Cut has been voted best local band for years and usually reserve their presence for the biggest stages in town but make an exception for their friends at Bubbas and always book a few dates getting back to their bar rockin’ roots. Judging the bike show was no easy task. Three esteemed bike show judges: myself, Sean Clayton and Jay Richardson representing Full Throttle Magazine, Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers and Jaybirds Custom Cycles, armed with multiple category judging sheets examined each bike and when the count was in we proceeded to hand out some hardware and cold hard cash.

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show Winners went like this… Best In Show was an easy choice and went to Dan Koon and his 2012 H-D Road King. This custom painted, big wheel, air rid’n, turbo charged bagger had all the bells and whistles and took home $150 and a trophy. Best Bagger went to Tony Crowders Aqua Green 2015 Road Glide. The color was poppin’ mixed with the tan seat and tour pack interior, it was a ride for sure. Jules Issac’s Bad Juju 2001 FXSTD Deuce had us all standing at attention with its patriotic old glory paint job. Bad Juju took home top honors in the Cruiser Class. Later on we saw Bad Juju on display at Spokes N Bones with the Carolinas’ Full Throttle / Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer trophy chained to it. The Ladies Class went to Adina Pearson’s gorgeous 2006 Softail with a purple lace paint job. Mild Bill took home the best paint category with a sweet 1999 FXR that was sporting a black paint job with beautiful gold leaf inlay, red lace and red pin striping. It was a standout for sure. The last trophy standing was the “Carolinas’ Choice” award. Which basically meant that between the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine and Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers we could choose our favorite bike on the lot. Jay from Jaybird’s Custom Cycles reaffirmed our

decision and James Wood took home this prestigious award with his cherry 1971 BSA Lightning. Potter got special recognition from Bubba’s Bar & Grill and received an $100 gift card that we certainly hope he used to by a round for the bar! We had an absolute blast at Bubba’s and Fishtails. They have a lock on the local biker crowd and it’s the place to party in Myrtle Beach. Once the work was all done, we got back to bike week’n. Our group did a little more bar hoppin’, people watching and ended up at Thee Doll House. Thee Dollhouse hosted bikini bike washes, amateur contests, happy hours and is the place to finish off your night in North Myrtle Beach. They also have special bike parking close to the front door. The beautiful ladies of Thee Dollhouse know how to treat ya, but let’s just leave it at that! It was a great end to the party. Seriously, Myrtle Beach Bike Week is 100% not to be missed. There are tons of places to party and we are ready to do it again in the fall. While you are in town make sure you hit up all the hot spots including The Rat Hole, Bubba’ Bar and Grill, Fishtails Biker Consignment and Thee Dollhouse. Make sure you keep your eye on The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for fall bike week schedules, it will be here before you know it!

hen tragedy strikes, some people wince in the
face of adversity, while others rise to the challenge and evolve triumphant. This is a story of two cases of the latter. Back on April 2nd of this year, Tyler “Ty” Jones was the victim of a hit and run accident. Ty explained to me that he had just left Lowe’s Home Improvements in Smithfield on his motorcycle heading south on HWY 301 towards the heart of the small community. Just as he was passing UNC Health hospital, he observed a Cadillac that was inching forward into the flow of traffic. Trying to avoid an issue, Ty began to get over a lane to allow room for the driver to merge. But he was apparently in too much of a hurry to wait and pull into the path of Ty’s bike. When Ty and his bike finally came to a stop, he began to check himself for injuries. Head still attached, arms working, no broken ribs, legs…uh-oh! Ty knew his left leg was broken, but I doubt he realized the extent of his injuries just yet. He recalled the last thing he saw was a Cadillac emblem. The driver did stop for a moment. But ultimately took off and headed for home. He pulled that Cadillac in the garage and hid it, to no avail. He was found and arrested shortly after the accident. Not only for hit and tun, but for DWI. The breathalyzer showed a level of twice the legal limit. Folks, please don’t drink and drive. Or ride for that matter. The live you save will be important to someone, if not you! Turns out that Ty had suffered a broken femur, fibula and tibia to his left leg. He has undergone three surgeries, the third to put a steel rod in his femur. Doctors were unable to save his lower leg and amputated below the knee. While he is up and about, sometimes on a walker and other times in a wheelchair, he still has a long recovery ahead of him. When a rider goes down, it is obviously a tragedy for them as an individual and for their family. But it is also a tragedy for fellow riders, whether we know them or are complete strangers. We are a family, joined by our love of the wind. And that is why Help Thy Neighbor JoCo rises to the challenge time and time again to help those who facing adversity when they need it most.
Betsy, Clarissa, Joe, Scott and a host of others (too many to name) have gone from just a few folks trying to do good, to a fully licensed charitable organization. They will host several plate sales and poker runs each year helping folks in our community. Often, they have never met these folks and just want to show love and support when and where they can. They have big hearts and will jump in giving not only of their time, but their money as well. On June 4th, the planning of the last several weeks came to fruition with a Poker Run for Ty, his wife Sarah and their two small children. Riders met up at Shenanigan’s in McGee’s Crossroads. Given the number of events taking place that day, they had a great turn out. While I didn’t count, I’m guessing somewhere in the 40-50 bikes. Kickstands were up and the ride began on time at 11:30 am. And it was the perfect day for a ride. From there they head to Tart’s Grocery, followed

by Castaways and then Bulldog Harley-Davidson where there was already a large crowd gathered for the Bikes and Brews event featuring Cowboy, the Kid Rock Tribute Band. The ride ended at Plan B in Smithfield where the parking lot overflowed with bikes. At Plan B, people were treated to spaghetti plates and cold drinks. All while perusing the large table full of raffle prizes and listening to Jenkins and the Rabbit. If you get an opportunity to hear Chris Jenkins and Brian Davis, you will definitely be impressed with the quality of show a two-piece band can generate. And then there was the live auction where several items were auctioned to include two handmade knives, courtesy of Anvil to Edge and a Dyno Tune for a bike, courtesy of Blaze Performance. The raffle drawing included signs, clothes, shoes, leather jackets and more. In total, $3,215 was raised for Ty and his family. Ty is a plumber by trade, but obviously it will take time for him to return to his day-to-day activities at work. But in speaking with him the first time, I can tell he has a great attitude in spite of the adversity that struck, and he will be doing everything he did before, and then some, before too much longer. As the sole provider for his family, we all hope the funds raised will take some of the worry and stress from them while he recuperates.

Hott At Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson
By:Chi
Bragg Harley-Davidson is certainly ready for summer. The past month’s events have been fabulous despite the heat! Well, you know, it’s been Hott! They celebrated with the community for Cape Beard 10th Annual Pig Pickin for Autism. It was an awesome turnout for the entire community. There was fun for all ages and everyone had a great time; and last, but not least, many funds were raised for Autism. Memorial Day was a blast with the Memorial Day Cookout and Bikini Bike Wash; which is always a hit! Bikes adorned with American flags to commemorate all the men and women who have died in service to the United States. Veterans and civilians alike celebrate in unison for the fallen, for their service, for all that they gave, and for giving all! And just like that, summer bike season began. An awesome nod to our national holiday! The grill’s been fired up every weekend! Hosted by local community clubs and organizations as well as Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson’s HOG Chapter. One thing for sure, they’ll keep you entertained because, there’s always a party at Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson! There is always plenty to eat and drink, the food’s hot, the beverages are cold, there are motorcycles all around and everyone is happy! You might think of it as a fairy tale. But the reality is, motorcycles make us smile! Vroom, Vroom, Vroom! Keep your eye on The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for future rides and events! Y’all ride safe, see you soon! ort

June Jam Bike Rally By: Lincoln Infield Photos By: Lincoln Infield & Daryl Brewton une JAMMED and sure, the whole month was a party, but I’m talking about June Jam Bike Rally. This resurrected, old school event, was back for its third year at the Rowan County Fairgrounds, which has worked its way into an NC Biker event pot of gold hosting 4 major events this year. The June Jam has put in the time and earned its stripes battling the restrictions of 2020 in their inaugural year and continuing to add to the event each year. This year’s event had a stacked lineup of games, contests and live music to keep the party moving. I can’t begin to tell you how nice a day June 11th was to ride. I’m usually in a hurry to get to the party, as to not miss anything. Instead, I left early to cruise the backroads and hit some of the historic districts on my way south to Salisbury. The June Jam party had started Friday night. Yeah, they have made this into a 3-day weekend biker bash. Friday night was a kind of pre-party with vendors, live music by Seven Day Haze and then a campground party. They have recently carved out some primitive camping area at the Rowan County Fairgrounds and they have a good number of glamping spots for all the RV bikers. By the time I rolled in on Saturday, it was apparent that it was gonna be a party. The outside parking lot was near full of scoots and the day was young! I pulled through the gate and ran straight into Jay from Jaybird’s Custom Cycles who is one of the main sponsors of the June Jam. They were set up just
inside the front door of the inside vendor area, hanging in the A/C. Jay pointed me towards his crew’s primo parking area, don’t mind if I do! Directly after parking, I ran into Shannon and Dexter Rights of the McGrath Law Group, the Firm That Rides, who along with RH Barringer round out the major sponsors of the Jam. I hung out in the A/C for quite a bit yacking with the friends and checking out the vendors. The bike games started up around 2pm during a band break. Mother Trucker had been rocking under the big top tent playing multiple sets all day. These guys really wail so it was a good thing that they still had another set to go after some biker shenanigans. John and Tina Luther’s Wolf Mountain Biker Entertainment team always delivers bike games the right way. Slow ride, pick ‘em up and put ‘em down, weenie bite, poke her and run, and honey I’m home were all entertaining as hell! Winners from each game rode away with cash in hand and bragging rights. The tattoo contest brought out the skin, and had a few gals with their pants down showing off their…. ink. Mooresville Tattoo Company was in charge of picking the winners while the rest of us were just there to admire the tattoos. The June Jam was a real three ring circus and just as one event ended another began. The Barbie Car Down Hill Racing was up next and the crowd wandered to the “Launching Ramp” to take it all in. Racers had their choice of 6 Barbie cars to compete against each other in a downhill free for all. Racers were lined up and the trash talking was thick. There was a ton of rubbin’ and racin’ cause the launching ramp gets skinnier as it goes. Makes for an exciting time! We had to cut the racing short cause there were more important things coming up like the bikini contest. While the bikini contestants were getting ready, a ton of hairy dudes took the stage for the beard contest. Michelle of Cabby’s Beard Care Products picked the finest womb brooms and awarded them some sweet products from her store. The bikini contestants were a sight for sore eyes after all them beardos. The bikini gals got the crowd hooting and hollering and pranced away with some cold

cash for their efforts. While the tent was full of folks Bubba took the stage and announced the bike show winners. It was a people’s choice bike show with cash and trophies for the top five bikes. Jerry & Christy Abernathy took home best in show with Ole Willy, their 1999 Dyna Wide Glide. Big Sexy got the second most votes for his 2009 Spencer Bowman Rock Bottom Chopper (Special thanks to Jaybirds Custom Cycle). Johnny Reb took home 3rd place with a 2001 1200 Sportster. Kelly Thompson snagged fourth place with his Fish Cycles 1978 Stupidglide. Hill-Billy rounded out the awards with a gorgeous 1965 H-D Electra Glide. All the while this was going on, five lovely ladies were getting wet up for the wet t-shirt contest. Each gal took to the stage to work their magic and make a bid to take home some cash! I’m not sure who got to vote on the winner, but the entire crowd got a show and honestly they were the real winners. Mother Trucker took back to the stage to rock one more set, but they had to follow a hell of a stage presence! The June Jam continued vendors stayed set up through Sunday, but it’s tough to top a day like Saturday. Lemme tell ya event planner Garrett Barger went the extra mile to put on a great event. The fine folks from Charlotte CBA helped him pull it off with a bit of help from event Emcee, Bongo Bach. If ya didn’t make it to this party, you need to put it on the calendar for next year. We as bikers can’t solve all the world’s problems but we take great pride in assisting whenever possible. In a world where everything’s going up, except our pay, it’s truly humbling to see all the bikes, truckers and citizens of Bladen County coming together for one of their own. We were all surprised that Roy was allowed a day pass. He was able to join us by the time the ride returned to the event venue. Some even commented that the best part about the activities of the day, was that they got to get a hug from Roy! Everyone was touched by the words spoken, hospitality extended and the overwhelming love and charity that permeated the atmosphere all around us. The event was hosted by Elvis Blackman and Christie Merritt of B&M Construction and Hillbilly Produce both located at 3715 US highway 701 North Elizabethtown, North Carolina. This amazing couple has worked together to host many benefit rides and events. They give special thanks to their Bladen County strong group of dedicated workers that are always willing to go the extra mile for those in need and our community. And last but not least, they all extend warm thanks and gratitude for all that supported the calls. Y’all ride safe and keep posted on The Carolinas Full Throttle Magazine and Cruising Calendar.

Ride Of Pride By: Gary Steelman
Ride of Pride dedication ceremony at Freightliner in Cleveland, NC. The rain let up and the sun was burning off the misty haze from the heavy downfall of this morning. The memories flood my mind as now there have been 20 years of the Ride of Pride. Rolling Thunder Chapters have held table ceremonies before at these events, and the dinging the brass bell and the stout “REMEMBER,” ring in my ears and my eyes as well it seems. Remember the fallen pilots, infantrymen and sailors. Remember this weekend is for them. Remember, again rings as loud as thunder as my thoughts race back to a time when as kids my brother and sister and I spent Christmas with friends of the family as my mom worked the Christmas shifts at the hospital as an RN. The table was set for Christmas dinner and at the head of the table stood a hall tree, decked out with green woolen uniform. The eldest brother of the family had been drafted in to service. Army planned his senior trip to Vietnam. He was missing, so his mom dresses up the hall tree with his uniform as a stand in for him. I didn’t understand at 6 or 7 what that meant for her. I’ve pondered that image so well embedded in memory so often. “Claude” stood there as we ate, a silent vigil and before the dishes were put away Claude’s mom was sobbing in the kitchen. What it must have taken for her ust got in from the

Knowing that their sacrifice and suffering has not been in vain, nor forgotten. Eleven of the past Ride of Pride trucks joined in to welcome the new Heartland Express Ride of Pride to the fleet of Ride of Pride legacy. Safe travels as a Memorial to those who humbly serve and sacrifice for the most grand nation ever to live upon the Earth. My God Bless and Keep.

2nd Annual Remembering “Smitty” Poker Run By Wally Wersching he Cleveland County CBA/ABATE chapter held a poker run to remember one of their own. Tim Smith “Smitty” was the CBA/ ABATE Western District Coordinator. He was very involved in the CBA and went to the state capital every year to help get some laws changed or enacted. He was a strong believer in Biker’s Rights. “Smitty” was also an active member of the Cleveland County Independent Bikers (CCIB). I still can’t imagine “Smitty” is gone. I’m in disbelief that he won’t be at the next CBA or CCIB event, and we won’t talk and laugh together like we used to. I watched the weather forecasts during the week, and they predicted a rainy Saturday. I awoke on the 11th, and checked the weather – sunny skies, and no rain. That was good for all the events scheduled. When I arrived, I saw a few bikes in the lot and a few bikers standing around talking. I went to the

registration table and gave my donation along with a stack of Full Throttle magazines. All the money collected was going to Autism Awareness. Haley made sure that everybody registered before the ride. I learned that she wasn’t riding in the event. She had to stay behind to make sure that everything went smoothly. As it got closer to 11:00AM, Haley called everybody together to pass on information about the ride. The first stop would be the Windjammers Clubhouse in Shelby, the next would be the CCIB clubhouse in Shelby, then, the Vintage Dog in Boiling Springs. Finally, the ride would come back to the VFW hall to award any prizes, and have hot dogs, chips, and a drink. After the pre-ride info, the bikers lined up for the run. The motorcycles sprang to life with a roar. Everybody was eager for the run to start. Then, they were off! They all left the lot and turned to the right to head to the Windjammers Clubhouse. I know that “Smitty” was very proud that so many of his friends came out to honor his memory. The $725 raised was donated to the Autism Awareness in “Smitty’s” name. He will never be forgotten.

Smokin’ Harley-Davidson Spring Bike Rally
By: Lincoln Infield
Smokin’ Harley-Davidson in Winston-Salem, NC. May 28th was the most recent bash at this destination dealership, Smokin’s Spring Bike Rally. GM Ray Perry teamed up with Wayne Pinnix of Biker Trash Nation to put together this shindig. The event was to include live music all day, food trucks, vendors and a Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show. The crowd rolled in early and it wasn’t long before the parking lot was absolutely packed. Dani Kerr was the first to take the stage. Dani has great stage presence and even playing as a solo act she got the crowd going with her Janis Joplin like style. I’m tellin ya, the girl can sing. Bike show registration was free and you could take home some green backs and a trophy if your bike had what it takes. Folks were wondering around the vendor area checking out all the deals and snagging some good grub from the food trucks that were on the scene. You could get funnel cakes, fruity slush drinks, and more. My favorite as usual was Dash City Dogs. They put together a few specialty dogs or you could get one made to order, either way, it’s a must stop. Xtreme Wings N Things brought down ig things happen at
a mobile bar and staffed it with some hot bartenders to sling suds to all the thirsty bikers. As the parking lot filled up the bike show parking did as well. My beautiful wife, Maggie, was registering bikes as quick as she could and I knew I was gonna need help to judge all these sweet sleds! Luckily the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine booth was right next to our friends from Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group and the motorcycle savvy Dexter Rights agreed to help Wayne and I judge the bike show. By now the second band had taken the stage. Sons of Bootlegg were on the stage and they were jamming! I hadn’t heard these boys before but they are on the radar now, they put on a heck of a show. It was fantastic bike show judging tunes. The crowd stayed strong all day and we ended up with near 40 motorcycles to judge. When it was time to announce the winners, we had them roll those sweet scooters around to the stage so that everyone could take a gander at them and we could get a clean photo of the winners with the cash and hardware. The Bagger class was taken by Terry Woods 2018 H-D Road Glide. First place Cruiser was super clean 2006 CVO Fat Boy ridden in by Tyler Medlin. Shannon Via won the Ladies class with her black widow themed 2007 Softail Deluxe. Jake

the bike show awards and brought the party home. They deserved the spotlight and it was great to kickback and watch them work as the party wound down. To finish off the day we rolled up stairs to Xtreme Wings to treat ourselves to some mango habanero wings and cold drinks. Xtreme wings was in charge of the after party and had live music rocking the porch for the evening crowd. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson and Biker Trash Nation nailed another party for sure. It was an honor to be invited to put on the bike show that afternoon. For sure keep your eyes on the Cruisin’ Calendar for upcoming events at Smokin’ H-D and don’t be surprised if you see us there hanging out! Best Paint Winner Aubrey Smart & His 1996 Fat Boy
Kernstock’s sweet ’84 FL Shovelhead won the Pre-95 class. Aubrey Smart 1996 Fat Boy won Best Paint and was my absolute favorite bike of the day. The wild paint job screamed mid 90’s style and it was dripping in chrome. Don’t be surprised if you see this sweet ride featured in an upcoming issue. The Best in Show was unanimously awarded to Steve Sexton for his 2020 Big Wheel H-D Road Glide. It had some gorgeous paint, ginormous front wheel and was sitting flush in the pavement with its air ride suspension. Steve took home $150 cash and a big ol trophy. The rest of the class winners went home with a $50 and a trophy. The headlining band, Red Dirt Revival, took the stage after

Independence/Freedom United States declared it’s freedom from England 246 years ago this month with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We had been at war with England for 15 months when the Declaration of Independence was signed. The Declaration of Independence did not secure our freedom. The Continental Army in 1783 after approximately 6 more years of war defeated the British and secured our freedom. In signing the Declaration of Independence, these men risked everything. Their worldly goods, their personal freedoms and even their lives. England viewed this as treason and open rebellion. Our founding fathers were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. What about our eternal freedom? John 8:36 says, Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. Free from what? Jesus’ sacrifice freed all who believe in and accept him as their savior from the penalty of our sin he
and secured our eternity in heaven. Many have always tried to mold salvation by what they think it should be. Many believe that being a good person and doing good or living a good life is what it takes to for salvation and entry into Heaven when the time comes. What does the bible say about this belief? Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Christians do good works because we are called to do good works. Our works or living a good life will not provide our salvation. I believe in God that is enough, right? James 2:19, You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! While belief in God is a good thing, it does not provide salvation. John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Only through our relationship with Jesus will we have freedom from our sin and secure our salvation and eternity with God in Heaven. Jesus paid the price for our salvation. Simply accept and open the free gift from Jesus. Jesus made the how very clear in teaching his disciples. The foundation scripture for Capital City Biker Church is John 14:6, Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Only through Jesus will anyone ever enter heaven. As you celebrate our freedom this 4th of July also reflect on your eternal freedom. You are not beyond redemption or too far gone. This a lie Satan uses to fool you. Jesus died for all and is waiting for you to invite him into your life as Lord and Savior. Blessings, Floyd

Veterans ain’t scared of the threat of a little rain. So, a bunch of folks came out to ride and laugh at the occasional light ilitary
sprinkle. VFW Post 5305 in Newton, NC, and the Maniax Riding Club hosted their second annual Veterans’ Honor Ride and Dice Run on Saturday, May 7. Even though the weather was threatening, approximately 70 motorcycles registered for the event. Also, a good number of non-riders came to join in the festivities. While the skies were threatening, the rain held off

Stops included the VFW Post in Statesville, the Maniax RC clubhouse, and the Lincolnton VFW, before returning to Newton VFW. Back in Newton there was food, prizes, fun and fellowship. Music and karaoke was provided by Hillbilly Lee. Best Dice Roll prize was awarded to Amanda Wright from Maiden, while the worst roll went to Bob Bush from Claremont. Shannon Baxter of Newton won the 50/50 drawing pot. A large portion of the prize money was donated back to the event by the winners… thank you! After expenses, approximately $2700 was raised to support our local VFW Post. We had a great time! We plan to do this again next year. 3rd Annual Ride To Remember
By: Crystal Ashe Photos By: Brooke Brown n Monday, May 30, 2022 Thompson Park in Charlotte, NC came to life with over 280 motorcycles, trikes, can-ams, slingshots, and one huge Ride of Pride Freightliner truck. All to celebrate Memorial Day. Memorial Day Ride to Remember is in its 3rd year and growing fast. What started out as a small dream for Crystal Ashe and Dennis Koch to get together and honor the men and women that sacrificed their lives for their freedom has turned into a yearly ride you don’t want to miss. Their first year they had about 40 bikes and 65 participants. Now it has grown to over 280 bikes and 500 participants in just three short years. Each year they gather at Thompson Park in downtown Charlotte to pay their respects to the men and women that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. They meet and have a wreath laying ceremony, complete with a bagpiper, Melanye Brennan playing Amazing Grace and a bugler, Ron Stewart playing Taps. Every detail of this ride is planned out to honor and pay respects and bring back the true meaning of Memorial Day. Even their ride shirts sponsored by many local biker businesses had their very own “memorial wall” on the back that riders could sponsor a name to remember their own loved one that they rode in memory of. Once the engines started to roar and kickstands were up, over 274 bikes and the 20th Anniversary Freightliner’s Ride of Pride truck, rolled on to their next destination through downtown Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson with a complete police escort by Mecklenburg Sheriff Garry McFadden and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, NC State Highway Patrol and Salisbury City Police Department. They rode through the Salisbury National Cemetery at the Salisbury VA with families watching, saluting, cheering and thanking them for their rolling salute to their family members laid to rest there. With the help of Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, they rode on to the Thomasville Vietnam Wall, off of Interstate 85. Where they stopped and had another ceremony, group picture, and wreath laying complete with Taps from bugler, Val Lics. From there they were escorted by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and arrived at the Carolina Field of Honor in Kernersville, NC for their last stop.
One final ceremony and wreath laying was performed. A BBQ lunch was provided for all the participants and a 50/50 raffle and auction were performed. The National Moment of Silence at 3 pm was observed and ended with 3 buglers playing in unison from Taps Across America at the memorial fountain. Although this has always been a free ride, Crystal and Dennis always make it a point to accept donations to a charity that supports veterans. This year’s chosen charity was Children of Fallen Heroes out of Holden Beach, NC. This is a 501c3 charity that helps children of not only fallen military but also fallen first responders. $2300 was raised in donations this year and will go to help these children that have lost a parent to the ultimate sacrifice. If you can’t ever get to DC and want to participate in an awesome local ride that is true to the meaning of Memorial Day, check this ride out! They have a Facebook group called “Memorial Day Ride to Remember” and post all event details there. Don’t forget to join them next year on May 29, 2023 for the 4th Annual Memorial Day Ride to Remember!!!

Good-Bye Spanky
The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine
By: Wally Wersching n May 22nd, CBA/ABATE Cleveland County Charter Member and Cleveland County Independent Biker member Terry “Spanky” Panther was honored after his passing on May 15th due to complications from a surgery. He was only 60 years old. I’ve known “Spanky” for quite a few years, and he always had a smile with a good word when we met at a CCIB or CBA function. He was an active member of both. He was also an avid donor of the Jace Man Run for the abused children in Cleveland County. The family received friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at ClayBarnette Funeral Home. The funeral procession departed the funeral home at 3:00 PM to “The Land” - 212 Independent Way, Mooresboro, where Pastor Mike Gettys (pastor of the nearby Full Throttle Biker Church) officiated
the Celebration of “Spanky’s” Life. Memorials were made to APC, Abuse Prevention Council. I arrived at a little before 3:00PM to see many of “Spanky’s” old friends standing around talking about him. His Harley had his CCIB colors draped over the handlebars. The group rode in from the funeral home. There were cars and bikes as far as the eye could see. I recognized many of the riders as they rode into the area in front of the stage. They brought “Spanky’s” ashes in the box and placed them on the table next to a few pictures of him. There was a long pause so that many of the people could sign a t-shirt for “Spanky’s” family. I found a few friends, and we talked. I was happy to see that “Grumpy” rode in. He was having problems with the chemotherapy. He said that they were going to try something else – no more chemo. I hope that he gets better soon. Then the service began with Mike Gettys on stage. He read some of the postings on the Funeral home’s Facebook page. They were all very touching. Everybody loved “Spanky”. The service ended with a prayer with comments on how “Spanky” was now riding on “streets of gold” in heaven with his wife, Wendy, and his son, Trent. He will be missed by all who knew him. Good-Bye Spanky!

B.A.C.A. 100 Mile Ride
By: Wally Wersching
May 21st but there was nothing going on locally. I checked the Full Throttle Cruisin’ Calendar, and there was something happening in Denver, NC – about an hour away. All the listing said was “100 Mile Ride”, Two Trees Bar and Grill, Reg 10AM, KSU at 11AM. The ride was for “Awareness to Child Abuse”. After some research, I determined that it was a “Bikers Against Child Abuse” (B.A.C.A.) Foothills Chapter event. The B.A.C.A. “100 Mile Ride” was scheduled all over the world on May 21st. B.A.C.A. exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. Their Mission is to help the children and their families learn how powerful they can be. Their presence will be available as long as the child needs them. They work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. The idea to rally the biker community in defense and in support of children was started in 1995 in Utah. When the first ride was held to visit wounded children, and bring them into the biker family, there were twenty-seven bikes present. From there, it was only a matter of time before the word spread quickly about what was happening in Utah. Now there are chapters all over the world. Members get training in: childhood trauma, the effects of abuse on children, effective means of communicating with victims of childhood abuse, biker conduct with the children, and other topics relevant to the safe and gentle implementation of their mission with the children. I was at the grill by 9:30AM, and parked “Miss Vickie” in front with the other bikes. Then, I walked to the registration table and gave my donation and placed a stack of Full Throttle magazines on the table. was looking for somewhere to go on
I walked around, and talked with “Rowdy”, the president of the Foothills chapter. He told me about their mission, and the escalating number of reported child abuse since the pandemic. He seems very serious about stopping child abuse. Over the next hour, I walked around talking to many people. I met a couple friends but most of the people were strangers to me. They were all very friendly. I learned where the ride would go – first to Tilley H-D in Statesville, then a stop for gas at about the 50-mile mark, and then back to the Two Trees Bar and Grill for the rest of the evening’s festivities – food, door prizes, live auction, and the 50/50 drawing. As it got close to 11:00AM, everybody was called around the trailer for some instructions. During that time, one of the members proposed to his girlfriend, “Bubbles”, and now they are engaged. She was completely surprised, and very happy. Another member was given the B.A.C.A. patch for the back of his vest. It took a full year before he earned it, and he was unanimously voted in. As everybody went back to their bikes, I asked a member which way they would be leaving the lot. He said they would go left so I walked across the street to get a good view of them riding by. As I stood there, I realized that they were going in the opposite direction. I took pictures of them leaving going away from me. Once they started, they were done in a few minutes, and the truck with the bike trailer was following behind. It was a great way to spend a Saturday, and I hope that I can do something as rewarding again next Saturday.

Frankenstein
Evans’ 1973 Shovelhead chopper earned its name Frankenstein. Steve rescued the ’73 FL from a junkyard 8 years ago. “It was kinda resurrected from that original state, it was pretty rough when we first got it.” Steve said. He got it running and even took it on a trip before tearing it down to rebuild it into this righteous chopper. He and some buddies rode up to Twin Rivers Chopper Campout and made a weekend out of swapping spark plugs and even rigging the brake pedal back on with zip ties. Normal shovelhead fun. Steve always wanted to build a 70’s style chopper so he tore the bike down and had Dano Simmons of South Main Customs redo the engine. They had to farm parts from all over the east coast, adding validity to the Frankenstein nickname. To give Frankenstein that ‘70’s vibe he contacted Sugar Bear himself and had him custom build the front end. Rusty Nash of Paints By Rusty laid down some sweet period correct paint and pinstriping on the Paughco frame, Low Brow Customs Tank and the rest of the tins. Once he got the parts and paint back, he enlisted some help from Randall Schaffer to put it all back together. Steve is more into riding than he is showing the bike, so you’ll have to catch him out and about if you wanna check Frankenstein out. So check out these photos or the video on our Youtube channel to get the scoop straight from Steve! Scan the QR Code to go directly to the video! teve

The day finally arrived: Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter himself. The gates are closed, however, and Forest approaches the gatekeeper. Saint Peter says, “Well, Forrest, it’s certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must inform you that the place is filling up fast, and we’ve been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The tests are fairly short, but you need to pass before you can get into Heaven.” Forrest responds, “It shore is good to be here Saint Peter. I was looking forward to this. Nobody ever told me about any entrance exams. Shore hope the test ain’t too hard; life was a big enough test as it was.” Saint Peter goes on, “Yes, I know Forrest. But, the test I have for you is only three questions. Here is the first: What days of the week begin with the letter ‘T’? Second, how many seconds are there in a year? Third, what is God’s first name?” Forrest goes away to think the questions over. He returns the next day and goes up to Saint Peter to try to answer the exam questions. Saint Peter waves him up and asks, “Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers.” Forrest says, “Well, the first one, - how many days of the week begin with the letter ‘T’?” “Shucks, that one’s easy; that’d be Today and Tomorrow!” The saint’s eyes open wide and he exclaims, “Forrest! That’s not what I was thinking, but ... you do have a point though, and I guess I didn’t specify, so I give you credit for that answer.” “How about the next one” says Saint Peter, “how many seconds in a year?” “Now that one’s harder,” says Forrest. “But, I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve.” Astounded, Saint Peter says, “Twelve! Twelve! Forrest, how in Heaven’s name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?” Forrest says, “Shucks, there gotta be twelve: January
second, February second, March second....” “Hold it,” interrupts Saint Peter. “I see where you’re going with it.” “And I guess I see your point, though that wasn’t quite what I had in mind. I’ll give you credit for that one too.” “Let’s go on with the next and final question,” says Saint Peter, “Can you tell me God’s first name?” Forest says, “Well shore, I know God’s first name. Everybody probly knows It’s Howard.” “Howard?” asks Saint Peter. “What makes you think it’s ‘Howard’?” Forest answers, “It’s in the prayer.” “The prayer?” asks Saint Peter, “Which prayer?” “The Lord’s Prayer,” responds Forest: “Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Howard be thy name...” The woman applying for a job in a Florida lemon grove seemed to be far too qualified for the job. The foreman frowned and said, “I have to ask you this: “Have you had any actual experience in picking lemons?” “Well, as a matter of fact, I have! The woman said, “I’ve been divorced three times, owned 2 Toyotas, and I voted for Biden.” Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4-pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with highflying birds, in order to test the strength of the windshields. British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high-speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer’s back-rest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow. The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists for suggestions. (You’re going to love this) NASA responded with a one-line memo -”Defrost the chicken.” There was a Scottish painter named Smokey Macgregor who was very interested in making a penny where he could, so he often thinned down his paint to make it go a wee bit further. As it happened, he got away
with this for some time, but eventually the Baptist Church decided to do a big restoration job on the outside of one of their biggest buildings. Smokey put in a bid, and, because his price was so low, he got the job. So he set about erecting the scaffolding and setting up the planks, and buying the paint and, yes, I am sorry to say, thinning it down with turpentine. Well, Smokey was up on the scaffolding, painting away, the job nearly completed, when suddenly there was a horrendous clap of thunder, the sky opened, and the rain poured down washing the thinned paint from all over the church and knocking Smokey clear off the scaffold to land on the lawn among the gravestones, surrounded by telltale puddles of the thinned and useless paint. Smokey was no fool. He knew this was a judgment from the Almighty, so he got down on his knees and cried: “Oh, God, Oh God, forgive me; what should I do?” And from the thunder, a mighty voice spoke, “Repaint! Repaint! And thin no more!” A man was driving along the highway, and saw a rabbit hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid hitting the rabbit, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of the car and was hit. The driver, being a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulled over to the side of the road, and got out to see what had become of the rabbit. Much to his dismay, the rabbit was dead. The driver felt so awful, he began to cry. A woman driving down the highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong. “I feel terrible,” he explained, “I accidently hit this rabbit and killed it.” The woman told the man not to worry. She knew what to do. She went to her car trunk, and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp, dead rabbit, and sprayed the contents of the can onto the rabbit. Miraculously the rabbit came to life, jumped up, waved it’s paw at the two humans and hopped down the road. 50 meters away the rabbit stopped, turned around, waved and hopped down the road, another 50 meters, turned, waved and hopped another 50 meters. The man was astonished. He couldn’t figure out what substance could be in the woman’s spray can!! He ran over to the woman and demanded, “What is in your spray can? What did you spray on that rabbit?” The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label. It said: “Hair spray. Restores life to dead hair. Adds permanent wave.”
