Letter From The Editors
uly begins the second part of the year. i mean, June 21 was just the first day of summer, but we’ve been inundated with events for MONTHS now! July is no different. We are gonna kick it off with the 246th celebration our American Independence. But nobody knows that better than bikers. I would argue that we enjoy freedom more than the average person. While you are enjoying your freedom you should ride over to Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad. Monty Hendrix and his crew are working on their 10th year in business and have their finger on the pulse of the motorcycle community. We hit on that a bit on the cover story on page 6.
Speaking of celebrations, not sure if you noticed, but this is gonna be a couple big months for us at the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. You are looking at our 300th issue. Three Hundred Months in a row The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine has hit the streets on time (knock on wood). But I don’t want to hit that too hard, cause next month is our 25th Anniversary, and the Letter From The Editor is gonna sound a little repetitive. But just take a minute and think back 300 months (24 & 11/12ths years). What were you doing? Did you have the same bike as you do now?
Probably a sore subject, I don’t condone selling motorcycles after hearing all the “I wish I still had that bike” stories.

Anyway, July is gonna be a humdinger. Just check out the Cruisin’ Calendar on page 6. There are a ton of events coming up. Pick one out and take a ride. Honestly, pick one out that you’ve never gone to and a have an adventure. If you want to add an event, its easy, just email the details to us and we will take care of the rest.
Make sure as you flip the pages of this, the 300th issue, of the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine that you take a minute to read the articles and check out the advertisers. Those advertisers make the magazine free each month for YOU. Maybe stop in and buy something from them…you know you want to.

Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad Recognizes Changes In The Motorcycle Community
By LincoLn infieLd
onty
hendrix founded indian motorcycle
Greensboro Triad nearly ten years ago.
Monty’s dealership started off in Downtown Greensboro and has now moved to North Main St. in High Point in order to place his Indian Motorcycle dealership under the same roof with his World Class Powersports dealership that sells Polaris SXS and Slingshot inventory. In the past decade he has watched the motorcycle market fluctuate with rider trends changing and even the way that motorcycles are purchased has shifted.
In the 2010’s the majority of the Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad customers were long term riders - riders that had been riding for ten to thirty years. “The biggest thing we were battling against then was our riders aging out” Monty explained. “We felt like we were lucky in a year if we had sold as many bikes to brand new riders to offset the folks that came in to sell their bike because they were aging out of riding. Maybe it was a little bit tilted toward more new riders coming onboard, but it was more or less a wash.”
At the start of the new 2020 decade, a lot of our lifestyles changed and new trends came about. “There was a large influx of new riders and while we don’t like to talk about 2020 too much - there was a lot of encouragement for people to get out and express themselves in a solo way, to do it outdoors in either small groups or individually and motorcycling, at least in this country, has always been about individuality.” Monty said. He continued to say, “I think a lot of people had the idea in the back of their mind that they would one day own a motorcycle and that came back to the forefront, and we saw the same with ATV’s and side by sides. So, more people said, ‘well why the hell not! You know the sky is falling and the world may be coming to an end.’ I think for the average
person it was a way of throwing their middle finger up to what was going on around them and they just said ‘You know what? I am free and the road is still out here and there’s nothing stopping me.’ That’s where I saw a lot of new riders enter the motorcycle community.”
The new riders that were coming into Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad or ordering bikes online were not following the same riding norms. Monty explained, “Now what’s interesting is we saw a lot of people that were new riders fall in love with it and next thing you know, even though they bought a smaller bike, they’re not afraid to go out there and ride distances. The fact is that it’s a reemergence of the glory days of motorcycling. I mean when we think back to Nicholson and Fonda out here on the road and they’re going to towns they’ve never even seen before, the whole Easy Rider concept. They weren’t on touring bikes. They were on raked out choppers with no bags. It’s a little bit refreshing to see 50 years later that kind of attitude coming back. Folks are buying scouts and putting five-foot Sissy Bars on the back and stuff like that. Things we haven’t seen for years. Then we also saw a lot of the new riders and old riders really getting invigorated with some of the things going on in the industry in terms of racing. So, you’ve got people watching the King Of The Baggers race series and saying ‘You know I’m not going on a racetrack but I want more power. I see what a big bike can do so how can you get me more power? What can we do about improved suspension and performance across the board?’ So even in our bagger field it was no longer just about paint and audio although we still have a lot of guys doing that, but it was also about big performance. Upgrades that you would normally associate with the smaller bikes.”
Another trend that Monty has noticed is that female rid-
Nearly
Decade Of Success In The Motorcycle Industry
ers are on the rise. “Now we’re seeing a lot of female riders coming onto the scene. Sure, a lot of them are riding with their spouses or significant other, but a lot of them were just riding with their buddies too. A lot of ladies said ‘I’m going to get my own bike and by the way I’m not going to follow you on my bike… you can follow me!’ A lot of the female riding groups that come through the dealership are very organized. I mean they will go coast to coast, and they will do it with a dozen and a half riders! The female riders are hardcore, they have it all mapped out! The guys could learn a few things from these ladies!” Monty said.
Monty also gives a lot of the credit to Indian Motorcycle and its parent company Polaris Industries for creating a great product. The motorcycles on the floor at Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad speak to riders of all different riding styles. Starting from the sporty FTR models, to the lightweight Scout cruisers, to the newly redesigned Chief, Springfield, Chieftain and Challenger models and then the Roadmaster and Indian Pursuit that represent the touring class. Obviously Indian has a model for every riding type. Monty said, “Indian Motorcycle riders have a pride in ownership and that’s one of the reasons why I love that we do offer such a premium brand. When people leave out of my dealership on a new or pre-owned Indian Motorcycle, Polaris Slingshot or Polaris off road vehicle - it’s something they’re proud of owning and that makes me proud! Another area where I feel very fortunate is that even our entry level products are amazing! For example, the Indian Scout line up are our entry level bikes and they are premium motorcycles. So people who start off on a Scout already have a taste of the quality of the brand. That makes it a lot easier when the time comes to move up to a larger model because the buyer already trusts the brand.”
Once we entered the 2020 era, consumers had to change the way they make purchases. We are nearly all the way past the supply chain problems, but along the way we have adapted to some alternative purchasing options. Previously the dealerships were swamped with motorcycles ready to ride out the door. While Indian Motorcycle Greensboro TRIAD still has a fair amount of ready to ride inventory, Monty has noticed that
the trend to order the bike of your dreams has remained. In fact, there are three popular views on purchasing your Indian Motorcycle. Monty went on to explain, “Over the past few years inventory has not been there but people still were able to get what they wanted by ordering. Previously, on our assembly line 90 to 95% of what was run down the line was for a dealer showroom and 5% to 10% was for specialty orders. During the early 2020’s that range was flip-flopped and 90% to 95% was produced for people whose name was on the list while only 5% to 10% was going to the showrooms. That was simply because there was only so many available pieces and parts to build complete bikes at that time. I think now people have the three-way option. There’s some pre-owned bikes where the prices have begun to come back to reasonable pricing. There is also variety in the inventory on the showroom floor but there is still that option to order exactly what you want. Honestly, I think even though inventory is not back to what it was pre-2020, I personally think we’re really in a golden era of buying because you have those options.” The wait time on most custom ordered Indian is a reasonable 4 to 6 week turn around, which is nothing to be upset about. In fact, it builds the case for ordering your dream bike instead of settling for what is on the dealership floor. Unless of course you are ready to ride TODAY!”
The nearly ten year success story that Indian Motorcycle Greensboro Triad is enjoying doesn’t just land on the Monty’s shoulders. He gives a lot of credit to those around him. Monty said, “I’m very fortunate and grateful. I’m very proud of the dealership that I built, but I couldn’t have done it without the continual support and encouragement of my wife Ellen, my children and my parents. The part of this business that I was responsible for was being crazy enough to take the risk - to go all in. The rest of it I owe to my amazing staff and our amazing customers that’s plain and simple!” So, if you are in the market for a great American Made motorcycle, SXS or Slingshot, stop in at World Class Powersports & Indian Motorcycles Greensboro Triad. They are under the same roof at 2924 North Main St. High Point, NC or give them a call at 336-882-2900. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they will get you started on your next adventure.

Myrtle Beach Bike Rally Ride In Bike Show
By LincoLn infieLd
Photos By: LincoLn infieLd & daryL Brewton
can’t event count the reasons to go to Myrtle Beach Bike Rally. If I had to start, I’d start with the fact that it’s at the beach, there are a ton of riders ready to have a great time and the local biker friendly business roll out the red carpet for ya. A couple of my favorite local biker friendly businesses are Fishtails Biker Resale & Consignment that happens to be right next door to Bubba’s Bar and Grill. These are local, 24/7/365 biker friendly businesses in Myrtle Beach. They have great biker parties all year long. During the rally, they allow us to come in and be a part of the action. A couple years ago we had such a great time at Bubba’s that we proposed that we hook up and put on the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally Ride-In Bike Show. The first year show was in Spring of 2022 and it was a barn burner. We had a ton of great bikes. It was such a success that we went ahead and made plans for the Fall. Well, they don’t call it the Hurricane Alley Rally for no reason. Hurricane Ian had other plans for the Fall Rally and we reluctantly put off the bike show til Spring of 2023.
Now let’s just go ahead and say, that if you go all the way to MB for the rally, and the weather ain’t great, you should still go out and party! I mean, if it’s just raining a bit, not hurricane status. This year’s Spring Rally ran into a couple days of rain in the later part of the week, but eased up for the south end late Thursday and held through Saturday. That’s all we needed to put on another great show.
We hit up Bubba’s early on Saturday…well, it was early for Saturday during the bike rally. Bubba’s has a $10 biker breakfast and it really hit the spot. Oh, you didn’t know that Bubba’s also has an awesome menu? Take this down: not only do they serve cold drinks all day long (including Yoohoo), but they also have a great menu making it a perfect any time of the day stop. Once I had a bite, I was good to go and together The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine squad (Travis & Myself) and The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers crew (Danea, Joah & Sean)

Best In Show Kenneth Lisane on a sick 2021 H-D Street Glide
got set up for the bike show. CBL always comes through for the bike show and a number of our other events and I’m glad to have them on board. Once set up we rolled into Fishtails to check out the new inventory. Seriously, if you want it, they got it and definitely at a better price! Motorcycle Apparel, parts, collectibles, patches, pins…seriously, they got it!
By 1pm the parking lot was filling up and we were registering bikes as fast as we could. Travis and I got some reinforcements when Seth and the Jaybirds Custom Cycles crew rolled in and lent a hand. We were hovering around 30 some show winning bikes when Jason Geter of Absolute Custom Cycles rolled in with a handful of friends including his recent builds and a couple Southernboy Baggers builds. Things just got complicated. You don’t ever want your bike show to be easy to judge, but we had a lot full of top shelf customs. Baggers, Cholos, Cruisers, Vintage bikes even a couple choppers show up. We set this bike show up as a quicky show and go type show and it’s obvious now we need to expand our classes and prizes. We gave those bikes a hard look over and like usual, Best In Show came down to a few points.
Kenneth Lisane rolled in on a sick 2021 H-D Street Glide that was customized by Southernboy Baggerz and took home the Best In Show trophy and $200 in cash. Kenneth also won himself an invite to the Full Throttle Custom Bike Show in the Greensboro Coliseum on January 13, 2024. This bike was dripping with custom paint, chrome and all the bells and whistles. It was a no doubter. Best Bagger wen to Jack Parzygnot’s 2012 H-D Road Glide, Goldzilla, done up by Nothing 2 Lose. Again, you can see this bike from across the way and know that you are looking at a top shelf bike. Still, this bike just edged out his competition. This year’s Ladies Class was second to none! We really had to split some hairs to come up with a winner. Ginger Weston took the class with her 2007 H-D Deluxe. No lie, this bike could have one the cruiser class too! Her Deluxe had a great gold
and purple paint job with fishtails, fat spokes with purple accents and more. Ginger didn’t win the cruiser class because her husband Jason Weston edged her out with his 2016 H-D Fatboy. Wild maroon, yellow, orange paint job, upswept fishtails, chrome swing arm, and some fat spokes on a big wheel led him to take home his class. When it came to trophy presentation, he let his daughter Tiler take all the glory. Jason Geter’s Absolute Customs 2017 H-D VRod took home the sport bike class. It’s done up in Absolute style with orange highlights, custom pipes and accessories and like all Jason’s builds it’s a complete package. The bikes that come out of Absolute Custom Cycles are all showstoppers. The Vintage Class is always my favorite class and I was glad to see Bike Hammonds bring out his 1982 FLH Police Custom “White Lightning” to the show again. Bike got edged out last year but came back and claimed the trophy with this extremely clean vintage shovelhead.
The bike show was over, but the party was not! Some of the show bikes rolled out and their parking spots were immediately filled with the next wave of riders who were rolling in looking for a good time. The bar and parking lot stayed packed for the rest of the evening. This bike show is quickly becoming one of the reasons to go to the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally. It’s always the last Saturday of the Rally whether you are showing a bike or hanging out, it’s worth the trip. Huge Thanks to Liz and the crew at Bubbas and Vee and the Fishtails team. All stellar folks for sure. Special shout out to Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers Bob Karney and Sean Clayton for backing this event. Sean, Danea and Joah for doing their thing and to Seth Fisher and Travis Wallace for pitching in and honestly for making this bike show do able! We will see yall in the Fall!

Memorial Day Ride To Remember
n monday may 29, 2023, despite the dreary weather and chance of rain, 126 bikes and over 200 participants packed into Thompson Park in downtown Charlotte, NC for the 4thAnnual Memorial Day Ride to Remember.
This has become the ride to be at on Memorial Day and continues to truly honor the men and women that sacrificed their lives for our country, which is the TRUE meaning of Memorial Day.
With dreary skies and wet roads, registration began at 7 am, but many were already there setting up, and staging already, ready for the ride ahead. Registration continued until 815 am, when a drivers safety meeting went over the upcoming 130mile police escorted route to come. Once everyone was clear on the route and expectations. The first of many ceremonies began. The founders and many of the riders walked through the Vietnam Wall there at the park, led by bag pipes to lay a wreath and start their day off remembering the names etched there on the wall.
Bikes, Can-Ams, and Trikes all started their engines to a roar that could be heard for miles. As the entire procession was led by Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden and the founders of the ride, Crystal Ashe, and Dennis Koch they continued into downtown Charlotte, with the help of Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s officers, where everyone was encouraged to rev their engines and be loud and proud of the reason, they were there that day. The reverb off the tall buildings made everyone stop in their tracks and watch as the entire group went by.
The group continued down Hwy 49 with an escort by NC State Highway Patrol E3 division, into Richfield and stopped at Richfield Misenheimer VFD for a quick rest stop. As they continued onward up Hwy 52 to The Salisbury National Cemetery with an escort from Stanly and Rowan County Sheriff’s Offices
Once in the cemetery, they were met by many family members visiting gravesites. Many of them stopped to wave, or to salute as the procession passed by and up the hill. Once all the
riders were in the cemetery, they stopped their engines for a moment of silence, while the bag piper played across the cemetery to honor the men and women laid to rest there. With rain and winds picking up, they once again started their engines to move on to the next stop. With many of the public there waving, saluting, videoing, or taking pictures, or yelling thank you to all the riders, they continued their journey.
They arrived at The Thomasville Vietnam Memorial Wall off Interstate 85 South, with an escort from Davidson County Sheriff, and with a much-needed break in the weather just in time to be led in by the bag piper in and around the wall to lay a wreath and have a moment of silence before taking their infamous group picture in front of the wall. Many took the time to stand and stare at the names etched there and have their own moment of silence, while others visited with non-riders that were there visiting as well, and talked about our ride and what we do every year.
For one last time, they started their engines to ride up to Carolina Field of Honor in Kernersville with an escort by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, to have one last ceremony and wreath laying, led by their wonderful bagpiper Melanye Brennan. They laid the last wreath and had one last moment of silence before dismissing to allow the riders time to explore the amazing grounds there with all the monuments and mementos of all the wars.
Afterwards the riders were all served a BBQ lunch and several auction and raffle items were given away with all proceeds going to the yearly choice of a military charity, which happened to be Purple Heart Homes. Many riders were recognized for their continued support of the ride year after year. Before everyone started making their way back to their homes. This ride continues to grow each year and truly celebrates the true meaning of Memorial Day. For information, next year’s ride is planned for May 27, 2024, you can go to https:// www.facebook.com/groups/305757144422383/ or go to their event page on Facebook that can be found : https://www. facebook.com/events/611916024242758/.

MichaEl Huffman’s 2015 H-D Street Glide
ichael huffMan’s 2015 street glide is one clean Machine. But it’s not just for looks. Michael and his soon to be bride, Kelsie, rack up the miles hitting all the local events and rallies including Boone Bike Rally, Daytona Bike Week and Myrtle Beach Bike Rally. He acquired the bike from a family member as a completely stock, Velocity Sunglow Red Street Glide, but wanted to make the bike his own. He came up with the “white on chrome” look to replicate a Softail that he had owned as one of his first bikes. “Everything on this bike is after market, nothing is original” Michael said. The bike features a marble white on white paint job with some slick royal blue accents. Aftermarket stereo by Sinister Sounds to pump out the tunes. Immaculate chrome 21 inch fat spoke wheels running low profile tires. 14 inch meathook chrome handlebars, Skully air ride suspension and the list goes on. The rear end kit from Nasty Hog and the RC Components exhaust cap off this ride beauty. Michael gets on down the road with an built 110ci engine from South Main Customs in Kannapolis. This Street Glide is a complete package, you won’t overlook it in a crowd.

Cox’s Harley-Davidson 62nd Open House
By LincoLn infieLd
Styles may change and the times certainly change but traditions die hard in the biker community. One such NC biker tradition is the Original Cox’s Harley-Davidson Open House in Asheboro, NC. Weekend rain has become a tradition for the past 3 months and has delayed a lot of good times. Third generation Cox’s H-D owner Stephen Cox wasn’t about to let the rain stop the 62nd Open House at Cox’s Harley-Davidson. Instead of cancelling or rescheduling, Stephen decided to downscale but push forward with the party and it was a decision that paid off.
The weather forecast was correct and Saturday, May 27 was a dreary day with on and off rain showers all across the Carolinas, but that didn’t stop folks from coming out to this 62nd Open House. The Riding Academy course that is usually parked full of bikes was instead full of cages, but people still came out. Generally, the parking lot directly in front of the dealership is coned off, jammed with people and encompassed by vendors with a professional stage at the top of the parking lot. The scaled down, bad weather version only hosted 2 vendors with the rest of the party inside. It’s a shame too, I know myself and a lot of other people were looking forward to jamming with Killing Fiction, the headlining band for the event. Never the less, fun was to be had. The smokehouse bistro food truck vendor was parked on the lot and open for business. Y’all, if you see this red food trailer and you don’t order a BBQ Bacon Brisket burger you have officially messed up. They have other delicious sounding eats on the menu, but
I can’t get past the Brisket! The Silver Smoke Mobile Cigar Lounge was the other vendor set up and partnered with Leo Whiskey Bar. A perfect combination. The Silver Smoke Cigar Lounge was a killer airstream trailer that had been remodeled in a vintage fashion to recreate a real chill atmosphere. This was the place to be and where I found Stephen Cox, hanging out, visiting with other motorcycle / cigar / bourbon connoisseurs.
Inside the dealership was buzzing. Four Saints Brewery was dishing out brew and folks were shopping and hanging out. There were a few sales going on throughout the store that proved to be irresistible to shoppers. The showroom floor had a great selection of new and used bikes including 120th Anniversary bikes, an orange Highway King collection Street Glide and a limited-edition Fast Johnnie Street Glide. Joy Hicks was working the Motorcycles For Mammograms booth raising funds and awareness for their big ride that kicks off in early October.
With all this going on the theme of the day was still all about Cox’s Harley-Davidson over the years. Everyone I talked to made mention that they never miss a Cox’s HarleyDavidson Open House. The Cox family has been building a reputation for more than 6 decades and it shows. I heard tales of how Recil Cox, founder of Cox’s H-D, made friends/ customers for life with his business practices. There were fond memories of Poochie Cox, 2nd generation of the family
dealership, passed around. These were always followed up on how well Stephen was carrying on the family tradition. All these stories were just formalities, because you could tell by the great attendance of a rainy day event, that Cox’s HarleyDavidson has built a loyal customer base and friendships that will span more generations and possibly the next 62 years.
Cox’s Harley-Davidson 62nd Open, endured a rainy day and in fact, provided a good time on a day that should have been a washout. Make sure you stop by the Original Cox’s HarleyDavidson in Asheboro, NC for all your Harley-Davidson needs. It’s no coincidence that they have been in business for over six decades. Their customer services, selection and know how may make them your new home dealership.

Meet The Law Tigers North Carolinas Motorcycle Lawyers
o matter your lifestyle
it’s nice to know that someone has your back. This is, I feel, especially true in the motorcycle community. Riding alone is not out of the question, but we tend to ride in groups, check in on each other, stop on the side of the road for riders we’ve never met and make life time friends by just sharing some miles together. It also makes perfect sense that if you should need representation in court that you would seek out a motorcycle attorney. We have a lifestyle that is unlike any other and in order to be properly represented, you need to have someone that understands us, and has maybe even been in our shoes, experienced our lifestyle like the Law Tigers. The Law Tigers are a nationwide group of independent member Law Firms comprised of motorcycle Lawyers in each state and the attorneys of the Ricci Law Firm P.A. are the Law Tigers Motorcycle Lawyers in North Carolina. The whole Ricci Law Firm motorcycle attorney team was hangin’ out at the Outer Banks Bike Rally and I got a chance to pick their brain about their organization and how they are able to assist the riding community of North Carolina with personal injury representation, insurance coverage tips and other motorcycle related issues!
Jerry Spencer is the North Carolina Law Tigers Marketing Manager. Jerry is the eyes and ears of the organization attending motorcycle events in NC and manning the Law Tigers booth. Not only is he a pretty face, but a great resource for all things motorcycle. Jerry is a huge proponent of motorcycling and when he’s not passing out Law Tigers swag and hanging out at events or bike shops you will find him carving up the back roads on his Dyna or boogieing up the highway on his Road King. Jerry is familiar with the chopper scene and is not afraid to turn wrenches on his 67 FL. He can also get you in touch with his colleagues at the Ricci Law
Firm. He introduced me to attorney Brian Ricci the owner of Ricci Law Firm. Brian is an impressive attorney that has been practicing law for 25 years. He is recognized in North Carolina and nationally as an advocate of those injured due to the negligence of others. Brian recognized that local bikers were not getting fair representation in their personal injury cases and decided to take on the challenge.
Brian said, “We used to sit back and see that some bikers that would go down would be represented by run of the mill personal injury law firms that don’t understand how to get your gear replaced, doesn’t care about their bike, doesn’t care about all the modifications that they made to their bike to get all those things compensated for. These guys were sitting there

under settling the cases and not getting justice for these riders, and it really pissed us off.” He joined the Law Tigers network to match his expertise to this nationwide brand to be able to reach as many bikers as possible. Brian wanted to make sure that the riding community knows that, “We’re here not only to help you if you go down, but we are also here as a resource. We want to educate the riding community on what they should be doing as far as proper insurance coverages, what to do if they are in a wreck and they need to get their gear and their bike repaired.” Brian is a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates & Multi Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership is limited to attorneys who have million-dollar settlements and/or a verdict in excess of one million dollars. Fewer than 1% of all US lawyers are members.
Meredith Hinton has been practicing law for nearly 17 years and is a Law Tiger here in North Carolina as a part of the Ricci Law Firm. Meredith is a dedicated and compassionate attorney who is committed to giving each client the personalized attention and counsel they need during such a trying time. Her goal is to remain available and accessible to each individual she represents, keeping them in the loop regarding their case throughout the entire process. As an aggressive advocate, she goes the distance to ensure her clients get justice. During a case that she was representing an injured biker, she realized “I could be a much better attorney for him, if I rode”. Meredith went on to take the motorcycle safety training then on to riding her own motorcycle. She has now owned multiple motorcycles and has embraced the riding lifestyle for herself. This has improved her already stellar approach to motorcycle personal injury cases. Meredith pointed out that there are a lot of negative preconceived ideas about motorcyclists who have been injured in accidents. “We may get one or two riders on a jury if we are lucky”, Meredith said. Having an attorney that can educate the non-riders on the jury can drastically improve the outcome of your case. “You want an attorney who is willing to go that extra mile and go all the way to a jury verdict.” “We are going to lead you through that process, and we are going to work as hard as we can to get you the best result.”
North Carolina Law Tiger Tommy Kandler has had a lifelong affinity with motorcycles due to his strong family ties to the hobby—his uncles had a motorcycle racing team and Tommy used to watch their races throughout the southeast.
Tommy quickly caught the motorcycle racing fever, too, and used to race dirt bikes as a kid, starting at age 6. Tommy currently has a HarleyDavidson Street Rod but likes to switch bikes every couple of years. He has immense experience with personal injury matters and-as he states- has “seen it all”, including the differences between Contributory and Comparative Negligence. North Carolina has something called Contributory Negligence as opposed to other states who use Comparative Negligence. Tommy explained that Comparative Negligence is where, “if you are 10% at fault for a wreck the jury will give you a award and just reduce it by 10%. In North Carolina if you are 10% at fault you might as well be 99% at fault. It doesn’t matter what fault you have, if you bare any responsibility your case is barred.” This certainly makes the case for having someone on your team that can help you navigate these situations as most drivers try to blame the rider.
Tyler Stiles Sr. is a new member of the Law Tigers team here in North Carolina but has been riding motorcycles and representing injured bikers nearly six years. Tyler is well versed in defending injured bikers and has the unique view of being the injured motorcyclist being defended. He was involved in an accident this past December and stressed the importance of making sure that your insurance coverages were set to where you need them to be. Tyler urged the fact that “It’s extremely important have those coverages and understand those coverages. We don’t expect you to be an insurance expert, that’s what we are here for. Give us a call and we will run through what you’ve got and what you need.”
Kristin Oakley is the latest member of the Law Tigers team at the Ricci Law Firm. Kristin was lucky enough to grow up with some cool Aunt’s, Uncles and family friends that rode motorcycles and passed the bug on to her. Quite literally actually. Kristin took the riders safety course and while shopping for a bike of her own, her Aunt gave her a Honda Shadow to start her journey! How cool is that! Kristin is an asset to the
28 The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine
Law Tigers team and is ready to help you with out as well!
Now that you have met the team of Motorcycle Lawyers that make up the North Carolina Law Tigers at Ricci Law Firm, the only other thing you need to know is that they are ready and willing to help you out. If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident and need a personal injury lawyer, if you have questions about your insurance coverage, questions about local events or maybe searching for a hard to find motorcycle part you can give the Law Tigers a call at 1-800-LawTigers or look them up at Lawtigers.com. They have offices in Fayetteville, Greenville, Jacksonville, Raleigh and Wilmington. They also attend a ton of motorcycle events in North Carolina. You won’t be able to miss the Law Tigers booth, its usually accompanied by a thirty foot inflatable tiger! Stop by and grab some swag and meet the team in person. They hope that you never need their help but urge you that if you need a motorcycle accident attorney, Make it a Law Tiger.

Thunder In The Smokies Spring 2023
By christian aka anchor
t was a dark and storMy day, Muahahahah, nope it was not. This Rally that was put on was absolutely the best weather you could ask for!! The only day that was a little off was Sunday but that didn’t stop the pancake breakfast that took place!! Well going back to Friday. We got there early to set up the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. Once that was accomplished we went around to see all the other vendors and what kind of deals and giveaways they had. Then we plotted out what vendors we were going to eat at while we there. Friday started off slow but by the evening the bikes really started to roll in for the bands that were going to play. The bands, who are local bands from Maggie Valley, were John Cox Band, Ali Randolph Band and Jason Passmore! The live music rocked and Friday evening went very well !!
Now Saturday started off really great with a safety meeting and prayer for the bike ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway! The ride ended back at the rally just as the bike show sponsored by Cartel Baggers in Maggie Valley was starting!! Now I have seen a ton of bikes in my years of riding but I never told anyone I would buy their bike for myself until this bike show!! I will let you guess what one that was from the pictures of that day on our facebook page tagged Thunder in the smokies!! I was truly impressed with the quality of bikes that were in the
show!! 1st place from that show was Gary Abernathy with the purple skull and chrome bike! 2nd place was Morgan Lipps who had the nurse Ratchet bike! And 3rd went to Jay Boucher on a classic looking Indian!!
The bikes games sponsored by the Knights of Solomon started up right after the bike show. Now I have always seen the games being competitive and this year was no exception!! Riders and their partners stepped up their game to try to win. It was definitely entertaining and it kept people around to see who was going to win!
The bike games winners were awarded cash prizes and then it was time to try out the food vendors!! I can honestly say we missed one of the vendors we always see, but there was no sad eyes here because the food vendors were amazing ! From the burgers to the bourbon chicken, alligator to the killer BBQ and then the snacks and desserts that were presented. All I can say was I was FULL most of the time!!
The music for Saturday night was again Great! Featuring Mark Keller, Kayla McKinney to Cash Creek & Friends!!
Now during all these events there were also vendors selling shirts and biker swag or even just advertising their business!! I also bought my wife another ring that matched from one of our own advertisers Curious Things !! They have custom creations and their jewelry is all handmade or cast from molds
that they have designed themselves!! If you don’t see them at the next event check out their add and give them a call to see what they have, You won’t be disappointed!!
Sunday the rally ended with a free pancake breakfast hosted by the CMA along with a church service hosted by the Freedom Biker Church. This is the 20th year that this great event has been going on, event coordinator Chris Anthony knows what he is doing and puts on a professional event. If you missed out on the Spring Thunder In The Smokies, make your way to Maggie Valley for the Summer edition, June 30-July 2nd or you can catch the Fall rally September 8-10th! You won’t be disappointed! All the photos from the event can be seen on The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Facebook page. I labeled each event and tagged Thunder in the smokies for each one!! Go see it and save the photos and comment on them and tell us how y’all enjoyed the event!!
As always stay safe and upright and enjoy the breeze !! Your brother, Anchor

Jasmine Cain Rocks Saints & Sinners Summerfest
By LincoLn infieLd
ou never get a second chance to Make a first impression. This had to be the mindset of Christy and Mark the proprietors of Greensboro’s newest biker bar. Technically the bar has been open since late spring, and it is a location that is familiar as a biker bar, but Christy and Mark recently rebranded the bar as Saints & Sinners Tavern and have big plans to bring it back to its former glory. Saints & Sinners is a great little biker bar with roll up doors that lead out on one of the best back yards a bar can have. Picnic tables are situated under huge, beautiful pin oaks that provide a ton of shade. The yard features a professional
size permanent sound stage with cover providing the perfect atmosphere for summer concerts. It’s the type of place you could ride to, grab a cold one and lay in the shade out back the bar.
Summerfest 2023 was their first big event and they decided to go all out. They snagged a couple local vendors, got the grills rolling with some good grub and hired a couple bands and invited all their rowdy friends to come out and break the place in. The party started early in the day and got kicked off when the Wayne Hill Memorial ride pulled through to have a couple cold ones. The 80 plus bikes rolled in and got the party started for sure. It was a perfect day to ride, and the crowd flowed all day long stopping in to take part in the action. Lisa Kyle and The Fleetwood took the stage first got the crowd warmed up. As the day progressed more and more folks rolled in the yard in front of the stage started to fill up with lawn chairs and folks that were anticipating the days music line up. Carrols Posse was next up on the stage and they really brought it. The crowd was really digging the tunes and the outside bar was getting a workout. By now the party was getting to its apex because Christy and Mark saved the best for last. They had booked Jasmin Cain as the headliner that night. That’s right, the same Jasmin Cain you see play at all the major rallies and big-time motorcycle events was on stage at Saints & Sinners Summerfest! Everyone who spent the day riding around made their way to Saints & Sinners in anticipation of getting to check out Jasmine in this up close setting. There were a good number of Jasmin Cain shirts in the crowd and Jasmin and the band did not disappoint! They put on a hell of a show and put a cap on one hell of an epic day.
Congrats to Christy and Mark for getting the bar up and running and breaking it in in a major way! Saints and Sinners features a Wednesday night bike night and just started doing Biker Appreciation Sundays. The Biker appreciation Sunday is the third Sunday of the month, and you can ride in and snag some free breakfast! Every other day of the week they have cold drinks, Purdy bar tenders and is generally a great place to get away to.

27th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America
Levan
n april 29 the kyle
Petty Charity Ride started its 27th Anniversary Ride. Two hundred and twenty five riders traveled more than 1,500 miles on a week long trek across Nevada and Utah raising funds to send kids to Victory Junction.
This year’s ride started and ended in Salt Lake City. Some of the ride highlights included visiting the Bonneville Salt Flats, lapping the track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, riding the scenic Highway 12, Highway 14 and Highway 50. We also passed through Capitol Reef National Park, explored the Legends Motorcycle Museum and lots more.
For 27 years Tilley Harley-Davidson, Statesville, NC, has been involved with this incredible ride and we are so
proud to just be a little part of this amazing ride. Some of the roads we took this year were some of Don’s favorites, Highways 12 and 14 and 50 are just amazing. If you haven’t ever got to ride these you need to add them to your list. And what a way to enjoy them, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle with great friends. That’s the thing about this ride and the people, they really become family. These riders are some of the most caring and generous people I have ever met and very proud to call them my friends
The founder of Tilley Harley-Davidson, the late Don Tilley, was also a founding member of the Ride and became known as “Rand McNally” due to the fact that he planned the Ride’s route for 20 years.
This years ride raised 1.7 million dollars to send kids to camp … Wow if you have ever thought about doing a big ride this is the one you should check into, contact Morgan Petty at the Kyle Petty Charity Ride office. Trust me you will not be disappointed. I cant wait till next year.
To see some of the fun that was had during the 27th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, visit them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. To learn more about the organization or to make a donation, visit www.kylepettycharityride.com.

Axehole Bike Night
By LincoLn infieLd
f you’re looking for a destination that has a little bit of everything ya gotta check out the Axehole in Lexington, NC. They are the best entertainment destination around! Owner Will Yarborough snagged up an old grocery store location in a strip mall and converted it into an adult playground. Just inside the door is a beautiful wood bar that stretches along the wall in front of
coolers stocked with all your favorite adult beverages, and Yoohoo as well. Snag a drink and take your pick from the half dozen pool tables, axe throwing lanes, or a plethora of corn hole boards. There’s also a couple picnic tables to chill at. If that isn’t enough for ya this establishment also features a full-size roller rink and arcade! Seriously, this place is a destination!
The Axehole also features a bike night on the second Saturday of the month. As mentioned, the Axehole is in a shopping strip so there is plenty of parking for you and all your friends. This past June 10th the Axehole featured an all-day bike show and sound competition that had the lot slammed with vendors and some bad ass bikes. The event literally went for 10 plus hours. Riders were piling in at noon for the event and stayed through the evening for bike night. There was an outside dunking booth, a couple mobile axe throwing lanes and even some outside beer tubs, so you didn’t have to venture too far to stay hydrated. A band was rocking some classic rock hits from the top of a flatbed trailer and the weather was just right for hanging around.
Next bike night is July 8th at the Axehole. It’s conveniently on that second Saturday of the month and runs from 6-8pm. But there’s no reason that you can stop by the Axehole Tuesday through Sunday and get your fill of axe throwing and other bar sports, the Friction Skating rink is open Friday-Sunday. Get by there and have a good time!

The new Combo Cast Laced wheels make a bold custom statement with a black machine-cut cast-aluminum rim and laced spokes. Each model will be offered in two highly detailed finish options.
Pinnacle Performance
The new 121-cubic inch V-Twin Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 121 engine establishes a new benchmark for factory-installed torque and displacement available in a Harley-Davidson® Touring motorcycle and features optimized liquid-cooled cylinder heads with a new cooling system, variable valve timing (VVT), a new intake tract and performance exhaust system.
Every aspect of design that could impact overall performance and the comfort was carefully considered during the development of the CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models. Dry weight has been reduced significantly – by 31 pounds for the CVO™ Street Glide® model and by 35 pounds for the CVO™ Road Glide® model – compared to the models they replace. High-performance front and rear SHOWA suspension components promote confident handling and provide a dramatic improvement in rider comfort compared to previous CVO™ models, with rear suspension travel increased by 50 percent. Premium Brembo™ braking components offer outstanding braking feel and performance for added rider confidence.
For the first time the CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models offer selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport and Rain – that electronically control a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering-Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering-Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.
Aero and thermal comfort are informed by all-new fairings with a “floating” windshield design, and by adjustable

air-control vanes. In wind tunnel testing, subjective helmet buffeting is reduced by an average of 60 percent compared to equivalent 2022 models. The new engine cooling system will further improve thermal comfort for the rider compared to previous CVO models.
All-New Infotainment Powered by Skyline™ OS
The CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models introduce an all-new suite of infotainment technology powered by the new Skyline™ OS. A 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. This premium display is customizable within three distinct
view options and is compatible with Apple and Android devices. Wi-Fi connectivity enables wireless connection to a rider’s device, and a Bluetooth® receiver for wireless headsets is built into the system. Both models feature expanded media storage compartments with a USB-C connection point. A premium, high-performance Harley-Davidson® Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate® Stage II four-speaker audio system is powered by a new 500-watt RMS amplifier.
The CVO™ Street Glide® and CVO™ Road Glide® models will make a U.S. public debut in Milwaukee during the Harley-Davidson Homecoming™ Festival, July 13-16, 2023. Both models will reach authorized Harley-Davidson® dealer showrooms globally in mid-July.

June Jam 3
By LincoLn infieLd
Photos By: LincoLn infieLd and daryL Brewton
arrett barger resurrected the June Jam in 2020 after nearly 2 decades of the party last go around adding it back into the mix of events at the Rowan County Fair Ground in Salisbury, NC. The Jam, now in its third year, is holding its own in a month saturated with big events. This year’s event days shifted a bit too, dropping Sunday from the schedule, featuring a rodeo on Friday night and stacking all the biker events into one full day. The two day event also featured live music by Mojo Stomp on Friday night and Gents and Liars on Saturday.
The Friday night rodeo, had it all. Bull riding, barrel racing, with cowboys, cowgirls and bikers all hanging out ringside. All the rodeo action went well and kept the crowd hooting and hollering. I only heard of one cowboy gettin’ bested by the bull. Speedy recovery for him for sure! Entertainment was also provided by Mojo Stomp. These guys really put it down and their name is popping up all over central NC, including Blue Collar Cycle Company bike nights and they will be featured at Mayhem In Midway 3 in September.
Saturday was the main day for the motorcycle part of this event. Vendors were scattered over the property from the big indoor building and the midway of the fairgrounds. Lots of good picking to do in the parts vendors, bikes for sale, jewelry, motorcycle accessories, apparel, pin striping. There was certainly lots of places you could drop a few bills! That includes the food vendors, a handful were open for business, but if I’m at the Rowan County Fairgrounds, I’m getting a porkchop sandwich from Hoff’s Grill, and I suggest you get one too.
The day was filled with events to keep ya busy. Cabby’s Beard Products conducted a professional beard competition, Daryl, Ben and Josh took home prizes for their fantastic facial follicles. The tattoo contest was followed directly and the front of the stage was filled with quality ink. The group was separated into a men’s and women’s class. Best in show went to Ben with most of both arms covered in clean lines and solid color, but his Buck Toothed Jesus tattoo tipped the scales in his favor. Dude took home $150 gift certificate to Touch Of Continues On Page 46

Grey Tattoo Shop. The ladies winner had a lot of nice work as well, it didn’t hurt that she had to shuck her pants to show off a beautiful upper thigh Native American piece. The men’s division winner also had a heavy piece on his thigh and some other solid pieces of art. $150 in gift certificates were shared by the men’s and women class winners. Bongo Bach was running the sound that afternoon and was getting everything just right for the Gents & Liars band that was coming on later
in the afternoon. While Bongo was doing his thing, Jon and Tina Luther with Wolf Mountain Biker Entertainment were putting on the bike games. Slow race, weenie bite and some people games went down in the field. Jon kills it on the mic and the crowd gets one hell of a show.
The party wasn’t over, and Gents and Liars took the stage and rocked out for quite a bit. All day long there was a stretch of custom motorcycles parked on the midway for the bike show. It was a free entry show with cash prizes in five classes and $250 for best in show. Southeastern Customs was in charge of the bike show judging and had their hands full picking em out of that gaggle of sweet rides. Jay Richardson of Jaybird’s Custom Cycles took home best in show and $250 with is custom 1949 Panhead board tracker. It’s a gorgeous motorcycle and a great choice for best in show. You can slide over to our YouTube page and check out the video we posted earlier this year with Jay explaining his fresh build. Everette Custom Cycles finished out the day with a sound competition. Bikes in the flyweight all the way through the heavyweight classes blew the crowd away at this custom audio showcase.
Although the third installment of the new June Jam is in the books, next year’s show is only 11 months away! Keep your eyes on The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar and get out to the Rowan Co. Fairgrounds for a good time.

Armed Forces Day “Folds Of Honor” Poker Run
By waLLy wersching
aturday, may 20th was armed forces day, and i wanted to do something patriotic. I searched all the usual places for somewhere to go, and found a Poker Run on the Full Throttle Crusin’ Calendar. They were holding their 2nd Annual Poker Run for the “Folds of Honor” in Lincolnton, NC.
The “Folds of Honor” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of military members that have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This year, the efforts have been expanded to also include the children and spouses of first-responder personnel.
Registration was from 8:30 to 10 AM, in the parking lot of the People’s Bank at 1910 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. Free sausage biscuits were available while they lasted. The cost for the poker run was $25 per hand. Brent Roland, is the man responsible for the event.
The five stops to draw cards were: People’s Bank in Lincolnton; Rich Lyon State Farm Insurance in Denver; the Freedom Biker Church in Conover; Jason Cox State Farm Insurance in Valdese, and the final stop was back to the People’s Bank in Lincolnton.
I pulled “Miss Vickie” out of the garage, and loaded a stack of Full Throttle magazines in the pack. As I was doing so, I felt moisture on my face. Not rain, but moisture just the same. I went back into the house to check the radar. There was no rain detected on the radar anywhere in the area.
I left at 8:30AM heading north on Rt 150. Soon the moisture in the air started to get heavier and there were droplets on my windshield. The sky was dark with low clouds. It wasn’t a heavy rain just a “Nuisance Rain”. As I rode through Cherryville, I noticed many downed trees from the storm a few days ago. They got his pretty hard. After Cherryville, I noticed that the sky was very bright ahead. It was still drizzling but the sky was getting lighter the farther north I got. When I finally got to Lincolnton, the roads were dry, and the sun was out among the clouds.
I pulled into the Peoples Bank parking, took the stack of Full Throttle magazines out of my pack, and placed them onto the registration table. The next tent was the “Folds of Honor” tent with many articles available for free.
There were many US Flags displayed around the parking lot. To keep with the Armed Forces Day theme, members of the Hickory Civil Air Patrol Honor Guard displayed the colors, and the Lincolnton High School Chorus sang “The StarSpangled Banner”. There was also a restored 1950’s US Army personnel carrier, and a couple young ladies from the Civil Air Patrol were handing out the sausage biscuits and water.
On my way back to “Miss Vickie”, I stopped to get a sausage biscuit. There was a cooler full of warm sausage biscuits. It was delicious.
When I got back to the bike, I noticed that there was another Victory motorcycle parked nearby. It was a Victory Gunner. Later, I talked with the owner of the Gunner. She was a very friendly young lady. Her riding buddies were talking about the places they rode already in 2023, and all the places they plan to ride.
Next, I met a group from the Silent Service Motorcycle Club which is made up of veteran US Navy Submariners who we used to call “Bubbleheads” when I was in the Navy. One of the club members, Sean, brought his mother as his passenger on his BMW Touring bike.
There were all kinds of bikes in the run, not just Harleys. There were also a couple Polaris Slingshots, and Can-Am Spyders. It was a good mix of bikes and riders.
As it got close to 10:00AM, the event spokesman Rich Lyon called us all together to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance”, the Hickory Civil Air Patrol Honor Guard displayed the colors, and the Lincolnton High School Chorus sang “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
Next, they drew the winning 50/50 ticket. Usually, the 50/50 drawing is done later in the run but they drew a winning ticket. The winner said that he’d like to donate the $103.00 back to the Folds of Honor making the check given to the “Folds of Honor” $1,930.00 which included the $103.00 from the 50/50.
Then Rich said a pre-ride prayer asking God to protect everyone during the ride, and on their way home. I walked to the front to take pictures as they left. It was starting to mist a little as they started their bikes. A couple men in bright yellow jackets stopped traffic as the rest of the bikes pulled out. After a few minutes, they all left heading east on Rt 150 to Denver, NC.

Pine Tree Tavern Celebrates Five Years
By LincoLn infieLd ine tree tavern in winston-saleM, nc has
become a staple in the
biker community.
They are always in on benefits, parties and serve up some awesome grub. Whether the eats are coming out of their kitchen or they have a guest chef working a cooker out back, you can always get a plate at the Pine Tree. Owners Art and Lori Shaver have worked hard to make the Pine Tree a busy bar. Food and drink specials, live music, paint parties and regular events including Wednesday night bike nights keep the Pine Tree on the top of everyone’s places to be list.
June 3rd was the Pine Tree Tavern’s 5th Anniversary Party. It was certainly a cause for celebration and Lori had lined up a day of giveaways, cold drinks, live music, and great food. It was one of the first nice weekends we have had in the triad area, there had been so many rainy days lately, so folks were ready for a good time and the crowd was steady all day long. Out back of the bar was the center of the party that day with the live music set up on the back deck under a pop-up tent. Jon Montgomery a regular minstrel at the Tree was the opening act for the day and got the crowd going with some good ol drinking music. About midafternoon with the sun beatin’ down on the deck, the Barnyard Stompers got the party going proper. The Stompers really engage with the crowd and make it a party, not to mention that this duo really rocks. The Barnyard Stompers are another band that makes their rounds at some of the big name bike rallies on the east coast, so it’s really cool to see them up close and personal. Some of the regulars were partying beyond the deck at the tree line of the property. Not a bad idea on a warm day, the trees provided a welcome shade and the picnic tables were jam packed down there. Inside the bar the AC was kicking, and the drinks were flowing. Most days you can find the legendary Joe Smith perched on a chair against the wall and he was sure there for this occasion as well. Eric was manning the grill out back and had brought in a tray of tenderloin. Joe was handing out slices of the meat and posing for pictures with all the pretty girls.
The evening went on as they celebrated five years of Karaoke with Steve Moss.
Congrats to Art, Lori and all the Pine Tree Staff on their five year anniversary. They have really established themselves as a great place to ride to and hang out. Wednesday bike nights come with a healthy dose of good music and great friends when you are at the Tree. They have great food and drink specials all week long making a stop by the Pine Tree Tavern a good idea any day of the week.

ShopRag’s 1951 Panhead Chopper Disco Stick
hoprag’s 1951 panhead chopper got nicknaMed “disco stick” By his friends. at the tiMe lady gaga was at her height and the purple metal flake paint of the chopper lent itself to lyrics from the song LoveGame. The story goes, that the old man chopped this sweet panhead and was building it to give to his son as a graduation present. The son did not graduate from high school and the bike was parked in the barn waiting for the grandson to be eligible. Shoprag stumbled upon this bike when the grandson brought the panhead in to trade it for a Fatboy. Since Shoprag acquired the bike he has ridden “the bejesus” out of the bike including trips to Kentucky and Born Free in California. He did have to rebuild the engine one time. Ten miles from his destination in KY, the engine locked up. Shoprag said, “We’d been running down the road from North Carolina and I could taste the Miller Lite already. I thought I had run out of gas, so I was smart enough to push in the clutch and just coast it over the side. Come to find out I locked the motor up. I welded the case bearing basically together and how I didn’t go down, I don’t know but I saved the motor and I was just able to tear down rebuild it and put it back together.” Fortunately, he was able to finish his trip on friends Shovelhead. There’s plenty of cool features on this bike including a duck head shifter that came off the legendary Papa Joe’s (R.I.P.) dad’s cane, peace sign taillight and diamond foot pegs. Shoprag put them on because, “Mom always said when I was young, if you found the right woman in your life you always give her a diamond”. There’s a bit more to this bikes story that you can catch on our YouTube page or if you see Shoprag out and about, ask him about his Disco Stick!
From The Bitch Pad

riving through erie county, new york, on our way to my nephew’s graduation, Jade (our 2022 Indian Pursuit) indicated that the rear tire was losing pressure, FAST!
Wait a minute, let me start from the beginning…
I packed the bike and we headed North on May 12th. The event was a few days away, so we planned to enjoy the journey, taking in all the backroads. No rush. We got as far as Bridgeport, WV the first day, with Niagara Falls, NY as our planned end for Day 2. Our back tire went flat on Hanover Road, in the middle of nowhere. HoneyBun pulled over on a straight-away and put on the four ways. Yup, it was flatter than a pancake!
Geez! We couldn’t even get a phone signal (technology is great, when is works)! Frustrated was the word, so we didn’t even notice the passersby. Minutes later, a truck hauling a trailer just pulled up.
Out hopped Chuck, the man who would get us back on track, sooner rather than later. (Luved his accent, btw.) So, Chuck just happened to drive by earlier and he noticed our flashers; he decided to turn around (it’s a Biker Code). He pulled up and we were thinking who’s this and is he a serial
killer? Kidding, sort of. Chuck just happened to work for a Harley-Davidson dealership nearby, and just happened to have room for one more bike in his trailer! Are you kidding me?! So, yes, the boys loaded the bike and off we went to Gowanda HD. Unfortunately, they did not have a replacement tire in stock, so My Man called the nearest Indian Motorcycle dealership. I had no idea at this point that the tire was three hours away, return; I was just sitting in the back of the truck minding my own business. So Chuck, yes Chuck, actually drove, on a Saturday, after regular hours were over, TO GET THE TIRE! Holy crap! I was thinking “Bikers have your back”, “Biker Family” and “The Brotherhood”.
This story includes so many extraordinary people; seriously, the planets were aligned.
Gowanda HD is the epitome of “family”. Chuck in service, Jana, Service Manager, and Nick, H-D® Factory Trained Master Technician, pulled together as a team and “got ‘er done”. Remember, this was after regular business hours, on a Saturday, when it’s time to ride. Paula, Owner-President / Office Manager, expressed how proud she was of her team (for a customer who wasn’t even riding a Harley).
Paula asked if we needed anything, and someone (not mentioning any names) said, “A beer would be nice.” Guess what showed up a few minutes later, with a custom koozie? Well, if you don’t ask, you don’t get, right?
I feel that positivity radiates, and attracts good people, and creates great relationships.
Gowanda Harley-Davidson
Started in 1947, the dealership is one of the oldest continuously family-owned.
“Our friendly and knowledgeable sales, financing, service and parts departments are prepared to make sure your experience is outstanding, from assisting while you’re making your choice to ongoing maintenance and customization. At Gowanda Harley-Davidson®, we value the opportunity to create a long-term relationship with our customers, and we do that by making sure to exceed your expectations.”
They, by far, exceeded our expectations.
We definitely will drop in for a visit the next time we are in the area and we highly recommend them.

his week Bikers froM across the nation descended on Capitol Hill. The 2023 Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s (MRF) Bikers Inside the Beltway was the largest event in the 14-year history of the event! Motorcyclists from 34 states made the trip to Washington, D.C. to advocate for issues that matter to the street rider.
The list of policy concerns was long! Issues include: right to repair, preserving the internal combustion engine, profiling of bikers, autonomous vehicles, ethanol mandates, the definition of a motorcycle, and the creation of a Motorcyclist Advisory Council within the Department of Transportation.
In just one day, all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 100 Senators received an informational packet from the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) explaining who we are, what we’ve done, and what we want.
Working with our State Motorcyclist Rights Organization (SMRO) partners, sustaining clubs and the National Council of Clubs we earned many important victories. In 2022 we saw the passage of an anti-profiling resolution, answers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on autonomous vehicles, and language requiring a report from the Department of Transportation on policies related to the targeting of bikers.
Perhaps the best part about Bikers Inside the Beltway is the buzz that occurs on Capitol Hill when hundreds of bikers roam the halls on Congress. They not only hear us, but they see us!
The MRF is committed to being your voice in Washington, D.C. We’ve had a presence in town since 1986 and we won’t leave until the job is done! We are, and will remain, the voice of the street rider in our nation’s capital.
Thank you to all the motorcyclists that attended the event! It’s never too early to start making plans for the next installment of Bikers Inside the Beltway in May 2024.

Wonder Why
hing’s happened to Make us question god and why it would happen to us. We always question why me, but it’s not our place to question stuff. And it’s not our place to question God. What we need to do is put our trust in Him.
We need to put our trust in Jesus Christ and believe in Him and follow the way He leads us. We may not like it but we need to trust Him, He’ll never lead us wrong. If we don’t trust Him and decide to go our on way, then suck it up when crap happens.
Always remember The Lord is our Shepherd.
The Lord never said we wouldn’t go through trials and problems, and at least they don’t last forever. Just remember our fights are not ours alone, if we would only let Jesus Christ into our lives and put our trust in Him, goes a whole lot better.
Psalms 23: 1-6. (1) The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. (2) He makes me to lay down in green pastures, (3) He restores my soul, He leads me in paths of righteousness For His name sake. (4) Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, For you are with me, Your rod and staff, they comfort me. (5) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over. (6) Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Has the Lord restored your soul? We need to step aside and let the Lord do His work.
Jesus defeated Satan but he still wants to kill and destroy you, but can’t, reread verse 4.
In verse 5 He gives us things. He uses the Holy Spirit to walk with us, We have nothing but our cup over flowed.
In verse 6 It tells us we don’t have to die to dwell in Him, except Him into your life today, and thank Him and praise Him for what you have now.
We don’t have to worry about tomorrow, cause the Lord will take care of you, remember the Lord is your Shepherd. If you don’t like the way your life will go with the Lord, Satan will take you back.

Tiny’s Tales From The Road A Guide To Motorcycle Camping
By: derek sikes
utdoor living is such a staple to our region of the country that’s it’s difficult to imagine most of you reading this don’t already know what I’m talking about. I am after all a city boy from the suburbs of Oakland, California trying to write an article about camping to be read by people in the Carolinas, some of which have been doing this as long as I’ve been alive. I get the irony but I’m going to write my piece here because for every country boy that can skin a buck and run a trot line there’s got to be one that can’t make a cup of coffee that doesn’t come in a plastic K-Cup.
Motorcycle camping for the most part gives middle-class people an opportunity to temporarily live like homeless people. Some riders spend a lot of money to have the luxury of having no luxury at all. It’s difficult to rationalize this behavior for people that don’t love to camp. They simply can’t wrap their head around the idea that we voluntarily give up the comforts of home to travel with as much stuff as we can carry on our bikes to a destination to sit around and do nothing. Luxury is in the eye of the beholder.
In my earliest days of motorcycle camping my list of creature comfort items was sparse. It mostly consisted of booze. I would sleep wherever I passed out. My morning coffee was beer, followed by more beer. I don’t think I ever bothered packing a tent or anything more than a bedroll and a sleeping
bag. These days I’m a lot more sober and can’t rely on a PBR lullaby to get a good night’s sleep so I must be a little more thoughtful about what I pack. So, here’s a list of essentials and some non-essentials but nice to have items.
First and foremost, to properly motorcycle camp you should have a motorcycle. I know this seems self-explanatory but lots of people have been showing up to motorcycle camp out events and gatherings without motorcycles. I’m not throwing shade; I’m just pointing out this fact. If you are camping with your car, van, truck, school bus, etc these guidelines may not apply to you. If you pay attention to social media, you might think that to properly motorcycle camp you need an Adventure Bike sold to you by a guy named Hans who included metal cases, a nylon jumpsuit in high-visibility and reflective accents to camp. Any motorcycle can pack enough stuff to camp for a weekend and get to most camp sites in this country. If you’re going to go deep into the backwoods and off graded roads a more specifically outfitted vehicle is appropriate, but most people just want to look like that’s what they do without actually doing it, so you are more likely to find that ADV bike in a Starbucks parking lot than a goat trail in the backwoods. What you actually see on the backwoods trails will likely have 4 wheels, a beer cooler, and a firearm of some sort. Simply put, riding a 700-pound motorcycle on those trails is strictly for masochists.
You can strap everything you need to your motorcycle without hard cases or luggage, it’s just less convenient to retrieve items, especially when they’ve fallen off your motorcycle on the interstate. Bungee cords and ratchet straps are your best friend when you have to secure your gear. The best rule of thumb is that your gear needs to be secure in every direction. If it can move, it will move. Like a Sailor securing for sea, you need to make sure that everything is tight and right. Failure to consider power of wind and the shaking and shimmying of your machine will normally result in lost gear at best and catastrophic failure or death at worst. Imagine your rear wheel locking up because the sleeve or your coat got loose and worked its way into your drive belt and wrapped around the

axle. It happens. I like to use mesh laundry bags to pack things that don’t have bags with smaller bags to make one bag. This keeps everything together and is easier to lash onto the bike. It also makes a nice back rest.
I’m a big fan of hot coffee, so I picked up a single burner off Amazon that runs on propane. I use a stainless French Press to make my coffee when I camp but if I was tight on room, I’d just use instant coffee. The French press doubles to heat up water for instant oatmeal, grits, freeze dried hiking meals etc. I also always bring tortillas and tuna packs for wraps. I like the Thai flavor ones. Water is another essential item that is heavy and takes up way too much room. I’ve never tried filters or purified tablets, I just buy a gallon plastic jug and find a place to strap it to the bike.
Another Amazon score that was a game changer for me is a collapsible chair that folds up to about the size of a small umbrella. Along with a tent and an inflatable sleeping pad these are creature comforts that I can’t camp without anymore. They take up room but are worth it for me. My days of sitting on a bedroll with my legs folded are long gone, like my hair line. Add to that list sunblock, bug spray and CROCS. I broke a couple toes in a river after being run down by inner-tubers and trying not to spill my beer or drop my other beer. A country boy told me I needed a pair of Crocs if I was gonna be in the river. He was right. I’ve never gone camping without them since that trip.
Depending on your bike tools and spare parts are always a
Continued From Page 62 good idea to have. It never fails, the tool you leave behind will be the one you need and the one you brought will probably not be used, this is the rule of the road. That being said, basic tools you can use to do things you actually know how to do to your bike are nice to have. Most basic tool kits will have the essentials but in this case I think an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Always check over your bike before you leave. If you’ve ever taken a MSF course T-CLOCS might sound familiar. Tires and wheels, controls, lighting and electrical, oil and fluids, chassis and stands make up the T-CLOCS checklist. You should check these items off before any ride, but especially before you load up your motorcycle with gear and leave the comfort of your town.
In all honesty no matter how little you pack you will always have everything you need to survive a weekend unless you die of hypothermia or dehydration. On the flip side you will never be able to fit everything you may think you need on a motorcycle, no matter how big said motorcycle is. This is why motorcycle trailers became such a big thing in the 80’s and 90’s. I don’t mean trailers you pull motorcycles on; I mean trailers you pull behind your motorcycle. For the people who need to bring everything with them to get away from it all, a trailer is the only logical solution. Interestingly enough, Harley-Davidson will void your warranty if you add a trailer hitch to any of their current motorcycles. Sorry nerds, I guess you’ll have to buy a Goldwing if you want to trailer under warranty.

A boy asks his father, “Dad, are bugs good to eat?” “That’s disgusting. Don’t talk about things like that over dinner,” the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, “Now, son, what did you want to ask me?” “Oh, nothing,” the boy says. “There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone.”
There was an elderly couple who in their old age noticed that they were getting a lot more forgetful, so they decided to go to the doctor. The doctor told them that they should start writing things down, so they don’t forget. They went home and the old lady told her husband to get her a bowl of ice cream. “You might want to write it down,” she said. The husband said, “No, I can remember that you want a bowl of ice cream.” She then told her husband she wanted a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream. “Write it down,” she told him, and again he said, “No, no, I can remember you want a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream.” Then the old lady said she wants a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top. “Write it down,” she told her husband and again he said, “No, I got it. You want a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top.” So, he goes to get the ice cream and spends an unusually long time in the kitchen, over 30 minutes. He comes out to his wife and hands her a plate of eggs and bacon. The old wife stares at the plate for a moment, then looks at her husband and asks, “Where’s the toast?”
What happens to a frog’s car when it breaks down? It gets toad away.
A bank robber pulls out gun points it at the teller, and says, “Give me all the money or you’re geography!” The puzzled teller replies, “Did you mean to say ‘or you’re
history?’” The robber says, “Don’t change the subject!”
Upon arriving home, a husband was met at the door by his sobbing wife. She explained, “It’s the pharmacist. He insulted me terribly this morning on the phone.” Immediately the husband drove downtown to confront the pharmacist and demand an apology. Before he could say more than a few words, the druggist told him, “Now, just a minute, please listen to my side of it... This morning the alarm failed to go off, so I was late getting up. I went without breakfast and hurried out to the car, just to realize that I locked the house with both house and car keys inside. I had to break a window to get my keys. Then, driving a little too fast, I got a speeding ticket. Later, about three blocks from the store, I had a flat tire. When I got to the store there was a bunch of people waiting for me to open up. I opened and started waiting on these people, and all the time the darn phone was ringing off the hook.” He continued, “Then I had to break a roll of nickels against the cash register drawer to make change, and they spilled all over the floor. I got down on my hands and knees to pick up the nickels; the phone was still ringing. When I came up, I cracked my head on the open cash drawer, which made me stagger back against a showcase with bunch of perfume bottles on it...all of them hit the floor and broke. Meanwhile, the phone is still ringing with no let up, and I finally got to answer it. It was your wife. She wanted to know how to use a rectal thermometer...and, honest mister, all I did was tell her!”
“Have you heard the rumor about the butter? Never mind, I shouldn’t be spreading it.”
I was having trouble with my computer. So, I called David, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over. David clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, “So, what was wrong?” He replied, “It was an ID ten T error.” I didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, “An ID Ten T error? What’s that? In case I need to fix it again.” David grinned, “Haven’t you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?” “No”, I replied. “Write it down,” he said, “and I think you’ll figure it out.” So, I wrote
down: I D 1 0 T. I used to like that little boy.
Q: What do you call a pig that does karate?

There was this guy at a bar, just looking at his drink. He stays like that for a half hour. Then a big trouble making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, & just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, “Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I’ll buy you another drink. I just can’t stand to see a man cry.” “No, it’s not that,” the man replies, wiping his tears, “This day is the worst of my life. First, I oversleep & I go in late to my office. My outraged boss fires me. When I leave the building to go to my car, I find out it was stolen. The police say they can do nothing. I get a cab to go home, & when I get out, I remember I left my wallet. The cab driver just drives away. I go inside my house where I find my wife in bed with the gardener. I leave my home, come to this bar, & just when I was thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up & drink my poison.”
A husband and wife were driving through Louisiana. As they approached Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth, then they stopped for lunch. At the counter, the husband asked the blonde waitress, “Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are very slowly?” She leaned over the counter and said, “Burrr-gerrr Kiiing.”
Mr. and Mrs. Brown had two sons. One was named Mind Your Own Business & the other was named Trouble. One day the two boys decided to play hide and seek. Trouble hid while Mind Your Own Business counted to one hundred. Mind Your Own Business began looking for his brother behind garbage cans and bushes. Then he started looking in and under cars until a policeman approached him and asked, “What are you doing?” “Playing a game,” the boy replied. “What is your name?” the officer questioned. “Mind Your Own Business.” Furious the policeman inquired, “Are you looking for trouble?!” The boy replied, “Why, yes.”
