We’ve gone to the mountains and the beach and back again chasin’ sunset and good times. I tell ya it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it. The good news is, we are just getting started. There are 66 events listed in the Cruisin’ Calendar on page 6 of this fine publication for you to choose from. The thing is, events are all that motorcycling is about, it’s about getting out there and having an adventure. So if none of those 66 events twist your wick then just gas up, pick a direction and go! There are plenty of good ridin’ roads in the Carolinas’ and you never know what you are missing till you get there. If you need anything along the way The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine is full of biker friendly business that can hook you up. Take a look through the pages and check out all the deals and specialties that are on display. Our advertisers are responsible for keeping this a FREE publication for the last 24 years so make sure you tell em you saw their ad! This month’s cover features Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group – The Firm That Rides. As avid motorcycle riders, each attorney with their firm understands the unique situations that motorcyclists face every day on the road. This gives them the ability to explain your motorcycle accident to a jury, judge, or insurance adjuster, and make sure they understand what happened to you. Chances are you have hung out or ridden with a representative from the Firm That Rides because they are EVERYWHERE! Make sure you check out their article on page 4. We also sat down with Tyler Stiles as part of our interview series “Is It The Destination Or The Ride” that article is on page 36 or you can watch the interview on our YouTube channel! While you are out cruising the Carolinas’ make sure you look out for yourself. If ya happen to roll up on any of the Full Throttle Magazine crew, make sure you get them to snap a photo of you for the People and Places page (page 62). If you are interested in joining up with us, we could always use the help! There’s a lot of territory out there and we are committed to recording the history of motorcycling in the Carolinas’. If ya want to pick up some side money our sales reps get 20% commission and you can do most of the job while riding your motorcycle! Give us a call at 336-885-5400

Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group

Shannon Rights, NC Coordinator he Firm that Rides® is more than just a clever saying at Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group; it is the basis upon which our law firm was built and has operated for over thirty years. When Tom McGrath first merged his passion for motorcycling with his desire to help others, Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group was born. Since that inception, our firm has strived to exceed the expectations our clients. As the firm grew, Tom surrounded himself with not only skilled trial attorneys, but with lawyers who were equally as enthusiastic about motorcyclists as he was. The one-man personal injury firm with the reputation for helping motorcyclists became a multi-state law firm dedicated to serving clients with the same personal touch as the original one man show. Today our firm serves clients both in and out of court. We use our resources to maintain a presence in state legislative bodies. We work to promote laws which protect the rights of motorcyclists, and work to remove laws which do not. In court, we use our knowledge and skill to protect the rights of those injured by the carelessness of others. Tom McGrath was once asked in an interview why he started the Motorcycle Law Group. He gave the question a moment’s thought and then answered. “There were many attorneys advertising motorcyclist representation, but few lawyers if any rode bikes, and no one was doing the work to protect the right to ride. As a motorcyclist, I felt there needed to be someone who would not only represent riders when they were injured, but tap into a personal pas-

The Firm That Rides sion of motorcycling to represent our community in front of lawmakers and regulators.” In 2008, Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group challenged the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina’s anti-motorcycle ordinances and convinced the South Carolina Supreme Court to declare the laws unconstitutional. The firm didn’t take a dime in compensation. Mark and Molly Infield, the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine owners, were two of our clients during this time. Matt Danielson, joined the firm in 2003, allowing him to combine his enthusiasm for the law and his passion for motorcycles. He has successfully represented motorcyclists in matters ranging from simple property damage trials to complex multi-million-dollar injury cases. Matt is a registered lobbyist who works to protect the rights of motorcyclists at both the state and federal level. Liz Sorrell joined the firm in 2007. She feels privileged to be able to represent her clients, ride with them and to help make a challenging time easier for them to bear. She has tried thousands of cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to first degree murder during her time as a Commonwealth prosecutor before joining our firm. Chad Fuller is a lifelong motorcyclist trusted by motorcycle clubs across South Carolina for his deep knowledge of bikes and passion for the lifestyle. Chad has a particular interest in ensuring that riders’ Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures are not infringed upon simply because of the colors on one’s vest. Katie Fuller worked as a paralegal at our firm before investing in law school. She continued to work at the firm throughout her education. She has been instrumental in building a practice that has grown primarily from a trusted reputation. Tyler Stiles joined Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group in 2018, giving him the opportunity to combine his passion for assisting people with their legal issues and his long-time hobby of turning wrenches and maintaining his own vehicles, both two and four wheeled. He and the North Carolina staff regularly attend motorcycle events across the state. Daisha Schwear joined the Firm that Rides® in 2013.

She worked as a paralegal for several years and immersed herself in the motorcycle community. As a result of her passion for helping people, she went to law school and went into the practice of law. Daisha is our Georgia attorney with an office in Savannah, Georgia. Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group continues to represent those injured at no fault of their own while providing ongoing education and support to the motorcyclist communities that they serve. If you have an issue to address legislatively, feel free to contact us. We offer educational seminars to riding groups, clubs, and organizations throughout the year. We would be happy to come out and introduce ourselves to your group. You can contact the state coordinator in your area to plan for one of our attorneys to attend your meeting or event. We welcome the opportunity to ride with you! Tiny’s Tales From The Road

By: Derek Sikes

Harley history. The Motor Company had just been bought back from the evil bowling ball company and released a motorcycle that didn’t require you to know how to turn a wrench to own, suddenly anyone with marginally good credit could play biker on the weekend. Before the V2 (Evolution or Evo), a biker’s worth was measured in their ability to keep their scoot on the road. Trailering was the worst shame a biker could know. Hell, most of the bikers I knew growing up didn’t own a trailer and many didn’t have truck to pull it. If you were lucky, you had a bro, sis or an ole lady with one that could rescue you when your bike was down hard. But times change. People want comfort. Roadside assistance and a cell phone aren’t enough for some people, they want to get to the party in their truck or van, bring all their toys, and take their bike out for a quick 30-mile ride and a photo op to share on their social media accounts. Times change, but there are still folks out there living the lifestyle and doing the thing. What is the thing? The thing is riding motorcycles. It doesn’t matter how anyone else defines “the thing” as long as you’re doing “your thing”. Last weekend, I did my thing, for the first time this year. And I loved every miserable, anxiety producing second of it. I might break down, run out of gas, get ran over by a minivan, hit a deer, the risks are endless. The reward: riding my motorcycle. The destination is just an excuse to ride. Don’t get me wrong, the beer would be cold, and the friendship warm, but I wanted to ride. I’m just like everyone else, I have a full-time job, a kid, and I decided to use my GI Bill to go to college, so I don’t get to grew up in a very transitional time in

live the dream every weekend. My job at Birdneck Cycles in Virginia Beach is to keep everyone else’s bike on the road, but I’m a parts seller not the mechanic. I built a chopper when things slowed down a bit in the shop over the winter for this summer, but at the last minute traded it for a 1973 FLH that had been sitting for over 10 years. I don’t know what issue it had when it was parked, or if the owner was just over it, but it had a fresh top-end. That’s really all it had going for it, to be honest. I stripped it down, removed what was left of the FLH parts and added them to the totes of parts that came with it. My vision was an 80’s style street custom, the kind of bike “real bikers” rode when I was a kid. I had an old narrow glide fender with custom paint in my pile of parts and got a 71-72 XLCH fender and tank painted to match. I made my own custom aluminum fender struts, dug out a dual disc 35mm and managed to get it put together and on the road just in time for the 5th Backroad BBQ in Trenton, NC. I had put about 100 miles down locally on my Shovelhead and managed to smoke an electronic ignition (my fault, didn’t use the correct rotor cup per the instructions) and smoke a condenser (not my fault, word to the wise, don’t use cheap condensers) in my points. Friday morning, prior to leaving for the run, we were installing and re-timing the points on the bike. 180 miles to go, no chase truck, just a tool bag and a prayer. We had already gotten a late start and I could tell the Super E wasn’t dialed in just right. I don’t have a speedo or a tach but somewhere in 4th gear at cruising speed there was a spot that would cause the bike to sneeze a little. I was sure that my condenser was crapping out on me again every time it happened. My “Frisco” mounted Sportster tank was good for about seventy-five miles between gas stops but we stopped about

every sixty to be safe. I had a Lowbrow Customs one-liter reserve for emergencies, but Highway 17 had plenty of gas stops. I’ve made the trip many times and know every gas station between Chesapeake and Jacksonville, NC. For some reason, I stopped for gas on a short leg, we had only gone about 40 miles, but my gut told me to stop. One of the things I’ve learned on the road is to always trust your intuition. When you second guess yourself and find yourself in a bad situation later it haunts you. I topped off my tank and looked down to see my derby cover dangling by a single ¼-20 bolt! My Shovelhead still has the factory primary oiling set up, (I can see you old greybeards shaking your heads). A leaking chain-case can lead to an empty oil bag, bad juju on the road. I only had 1 quart of oil in my pack. As luck would have it, this particular gas station is right next to an auto-parts store, and they had the 1/4-20 socket head bolts I needed. We’ve made a lot of repairs behind this gas station over the years. The rest of the trip down was uneventful. The sun shone down, and the Shovelhead ticked along with only a few sneezes. I thought about how I needed to adjust the carb when I got to camp. We pulled into the dirt road turnoff onto the Trent River Family Campground and could see the party had already started. A few dudes on minibikes were ripping out in the field and the infamous Pabst Blue Ribbon easy up and gigantic beer cooler full of ice-cold beers awaited. We putted down the giant sand hill (ok, it’s not that steep, but with a loaded bike that deep loose sand does take some riding skill to navigate). I saw

a bunch of folks running behind me and knew someone didn’t make it. I pulled into a nice shady flat spot and parked just in time to see my buddy dusting himself off. Luckily it only bruised his pride and nothing broke on his bike. I headed up to the check-in point to pay my entrance fee and enjoy a cold beer. Outlaw country bumped from the speakers and spirits were high, and so were a few party goers. This was going to be a great weekend. All week people had been talking about the weather, there were several storm warnings and threats of a tornado, welcome to Eastern North Carolina! I had heard a lot of folks decided to stay home or cage it instead and sleep in their vans or campers. Until Sunday morning, the weather was damn good, and Sunday wasn’t bad, just cold and damp. After a weekend of catching up with friends I haven’t seen since last fall, sleeping in my tent on the dirt, and killing a few brain cells, it was time to load up the Shovelhead and make the 180-mile trip up north. I had packed warm riding gear and wore a full-face helmet, so the cold and wet weather was tolerable. I made it home only running out of gas once (I should have topped off before I left, I knew better) and I thought about all the folks in their warm and dry vans and trucks driving home, probably sipping on warm coffee and talking about the weekend and felt bad for them. They missed out on the best part, but I guess they were doing their thing and I was doing my thing. The thing. Riding motorcycles, not knowing if my fifty-year-old garage-built motorcycle would make it home.

20th Anniversary Outer Banks Bike Week

By: Lincoln Infield he Outer Banks of North Carolina has it all; history, beautiful natural beaches, fine dining and for the past 20 years, it’s been the host to Outer Banks Bike Week. This year being the 20th Anniversary of the event, owner Maurice Slaughter and OBX Bike Week Coordinator Sherry Burgess planned a blowout week long party for April 16-24. The party was so big it stretched south from Outer Banks Harley-Davidson to Manteo, and to the north all the way to Bayside Harley-Davidson in Portsmouth, VA! Some dreary weather kept the early part of the week from its full potential, but it turned around mid week and we had some

of the best weather you could ask for. The sun was out, the beach roads were swarming with motorcycles, bike week was on! The epicenter of the event is Outer Banks Harley-Davidson in Harbinger, NC, just over the bridge from Kitty Hawk. Their show room was stocked with gleaming Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and the parking lot was jammed with vendors. The band stand was tucked into the corner of the property as to allow as many bikes to pack in to the property. The band lineup was stellar with the likes of The Bearded Brothers Band, GNR Tribute Band - Nightrain, Runnin’ Shine, Buckshot, and more. They saved Battery - The Masters Of Metallica, to headline the weekend! Those who rode in on dirty bikes or just wanted a good show, the bikini bike wash was set up on site a few times during the week. Believe me, there were no shortage of bikes to wash! There were guided rides most days of the week and even challenge to ride to all 4 participating H-D Dealerships in the area. The dealership party is great, but that’s not all there is to the rally. The Outer Banks offers some pretty sweet riding and great coastal views. Heading south down the banks, Outer Banks Harley-Davidson satellite stores First Flight Harley-Davidson in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head Harley-Davidson joined in on the fun with rides, specials, vendors and deals! While you are on the OBX it’s a must to stop in and see Sheila at First Flight and Becci and Pam at Nags Head. You can’t miss Nags Head H-D it’s right across the street from Jockeys Ridge State Park. If you wait around til

the evening, sunset at Jockey’s Ridge is amazing. Continuing south, you’ll log some miles crossing intercostal water ways and catch some of the natural beauty from one of many bridges, including Croatan Sound Bridge which also happens to be the longest bridge in North Carolina. Just over the bridge in Manteo is Outer Banks Bike Week “South” at Vertigo Tattoo. They have a lot full of vendors, live music and the bikes are constantly coming and going. Vertigo Tattoo was host to events all week long like a $1000 poker run to benefit children at Christmas, 50/50’s, Dyno test and tune and old school bike games. The tattoo shop was also open, but you’d better get on the list early, cause they were booked out. We cruised up and down the coast while we were out there. The beach roads are laid back and are good for cruising. There’s a few good bars down along the way too, or you can stop off on a beach access and take a walk on the beach. Longboards Island Grill on Hwy 158 is a must stop as well. You can’t miss it for all the bike traffic heading in and out. It’s another hot spot for vendors, live music, cold brew and some tasty eats.

Like most of the other big rallies the early part of the week is a warm up for the final weekend. The Outer Banks H-D location was THE place to be on Saturday, April 21st. It was an absolutely beautiful 70 degree day and the bikes were pouring in. The Vendors were swinging swag, music was playing and the bikini team was washing bikes before they entered The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show. The bike show had five classes and a best in show. To make it interesting The Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group and the Law Tigers Motorcycle Lawyers joined in and each had a “choice award” in the bike show. The bike show parking was over flowing and we were having a hell of a hard time judging bike shows while the International Bikini Team was strutting their stuff across the stage. Twelve beauties were showing off in “biker attire” and had everyone’s attention and that was only half the show! The ladies took a break to switch into their bikinis and while the crowd was waiting on their return it was time to announce the bike show winners. Jerry Spencer of the Law Tigers and Tyler Stiles of Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group joined me on stage to give away the trophies and cash. The five Bike Show class winners who took home commemorative plaques were as follows: Don Pemberton won the Trike Class with his 2017 H-D TriGlide. Devon Eckert won the Cruiser Class with his custom 1995 H-D Sportster. Ninja Lee took the Sport Class with her 2003 Kawasaki Z1000. Michael Smahlmann won the Bagger Class with his 2016 Custom Street Glide. Last, not least, but definitely the smallest, Francis Lee won the Radical Class with a 2001 Ridley Speedster. Next came the Choice Awards and Best in Show. Jerry chose Chris Decou’s 1975 FXE SuperGlide as the Law Tigers Choice winner. Tyler also went old school and chose the 1974 Harley-Davidson FL that Paul Kagi rode in for the Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group Choice Winner. Gary Harvey took Best In Show with a 2000 H-D Springer. Gary’s springer had won Best in Show at the very first Outer Banks

Battery Rocking The Stage

Bike Show 20 years ago and had the chops to take home top honors again. The Choice Awards and the Best in Show got $200 each and a custom trophy. Big thanks to The Rebel Spirit for putting together some killer custom trophies for the show. Speaking of money, The Outer Banks HOG chapter had been selling 50/50 tickets all weekend and the winner, Derek Davis, took home $1000 after donating $150 of his winnings back to the HOG club. After the bike show, the party raged on with another hard rocking set of Metallic tunes from Battery and the finale of the Ms. Outer Banks H-D Contest. The International Bikini team reappeared on stage in some delightfully skimpy bikinis to determine who was gonna take home the honor this year. I tell ya, I thought we had it hard judging the bikes! Nah man! The bikini contest judges had it rough, cause all these ladies were Smokin hot! The girls all gave it their best strut and then Shauna Bandy and Deborah Smith were announced as the runner ups with Ms. Brook Murray being crowned Ms. Outer Banks Bike Week 2022. The ladies all graciously posed for photos with their fans and the bike show winners after the contest. It was a huge day at Outer Banks Harley-Davidson,

but the day still wasn’t over! The sun was still up and it was time to get back to riding. The sweet beach breeze felt good as we cruised the coast for a celebratory meal. I tell ya, it was a great week on the OBX. If you missed out on the 20th Anniversary of Outer Banks Bike Week, you definitely missed a party for the ages, but not to worry, the party will return in the fall for the Outer Banks Bike Fest, September 21-25, 2022. Go ahead and put it on your calendar now and look forward to riding on Island Time.

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Bulldog Harley-Davidson North Carolina’s Newest H-D Dealer 22

By: Len “3 Wheel” Montgomery

ver the past few years, we have all witnessed the

closing of many businesses, restaurants, bars, retailers, large corporations, and even small mom and pop businesses. So, when I first read that Carson Baker was opening Bulldog Harley-Davidson in Smithfield, NC, I was excited. Some of you may already know Carson and his wife Whitney from Baker Motorsports of Fayetteville, Baker American Cycles of Fayetteville, Pirate Ship Powersports of Wilmington, or Battleship Cycles and Marine of Wilmington. With the addition now of Bulldog Harley-Davidson, Carson can fill all of your two wheels, and three wheels, riding ambitions. But for those of you who have never met Carson, I asked him to tell us all a little about himself.

What drew you to the motorcycle industry? “I have always been into ATV’s and motorcycles since I was 3 or 4. Growing up, I wanted to take over my dad’s Chevrolet store. We had a lot of family working in the store, and I just felt like I could chase my dream to get into the powersports industry. Polaris and Indian really helped make that happen.” When or what age did you begin riding? “I have been riding ATV’s since I could walk. I started on a Honda 70. I got my first road bike motorcycle when I was thirteen. We traded for an orange 883. I rode it around the dealership. I thought I was hot stuff. When I turned sixteen, I got an 883 custom. I still have that bike.” What do you ride now? “I am torn. I love anything with a motor. I have a couple bikes. I will always have a Hayabusa. I will be that old guy still wanting speed. I have an Indian Chieftain because I love the bike and Indian is where I got my start. I recently added a Road Glide and love it too! It is fun to have a battle of the brands, but they all have their strong and weak points.”

Since a new Harley-Davidson dealership does not open every month, Carson decided to go all out with the April 30th Grand Opening. The festivities were scheduled to begin at 10am. But when I arrived at 9:30am, the parking lot had become a flurry of activity. The first thing you notice is the Harley-Davidson Demo truck set up with a full line up of bikes to test ride. And riders were wasting no time getting in line to sign up. Show your motorcycle endorsement on your license and point out a bike. There were also lots of local businesses and charitable organizations set up. Bikers for Christ were there witnessing.

I am sure they would pray over your bike if asked. Healing Through Hemp was set up with an array of product offerings. Help Thy Neighbor, JoCo was on hand with t-shirts, huggees and literature. They do an excellent job assisting families that are hit hard by unfortunate circumstances. Fresh Start Rescue had a mobile reptile zoo that was both interesting and a little disturbing for some. I mean, I am not afraid of a lizard or iguana. Played with many frogs as a child, and even a few green snakes. But I had no desire to wrap those six-foot snakes around my neck for a photograph. But many did. I even watched one youngster, maybe two years old, pet that big snake while his dad said there was no way he would touch it. Birdie Beads and Blades had a whole new line of biker accessories for sale. She always has interesting knives, jewelry, booty shorts and more to select from. As well as a wide selection of patches which she can typically sew on your vest on the spot. With this large of a crowd however, sewing just was not an option. 2020 and 2021 AHDRA World Champion Gregg Quinn was there for photos and autographs. I did not really get the opportunity to speak to him, but to be a world champion two years running, he must be very quick. A quick search of the internet will tell you all you need to know. Next up, you could pull your Harley-Davidson around for a free dyno run and watch the stats instantly on a monitor.

And of course, you get a printout graph of the performance (suitable for framing?). Each run was automatically entered into a horsepower contest broken down by classes: Big Twin and Everything Else. To level the playing field, it was broken down to horsepower per cubic inch. I am unsure who the winners were, but I did see some disappointed faces when their numbers displayed. Just a few yards away was the sound competition. Dorian Thomas of Blaze Performance was the master of ceremonies. There were four classes competing. And these guys had spent lots of money on their systems, and time choosing just the right songs, to compete. Winners by class were: Feather Weight – Brian Patrick, Light Weight – David Brown, Welter Weight – James Hendrix/Ralph Hubner, Middle Weight – Frank Celeste Jr. Not only were these bikes loud, but they were a joy to look at. Congratulations to all the winners. Camtech Custom Baggers out of Summerville, SC brought a beautiful selection of custom bikes to gaze upon. I mean these were truly works of art! The detail of the build is only paralleled by the details in the paint work. I would not hesitate to

have them to take on any paint project for me. Inside, Bulldog’s clothing and accessories had the aisles filled with shoppers snatching up deals at 75% OFF! And there was some excellent gear to choose from. Stephen Holloman was walking out with both arms full. He said he got over $1,200 worth of items for $300. So, what did I do? I picked out a few shirts for myself and snap a photo of the 75% off signs and sent it to my wife. It did not take her long to arrive. The staff there was really working hard to get to everyone. Bulldog is lucky to have them all. Speaking of getting to everyone, riders were coming from all over the state to purchase bikes. Thirteen new owners rode out that day on something different than they rode in on. One of those was Doug McLamb who bought a used CVO. Scotty drove all the way from Burlington to buy his new bike and saved $6,000 on the same bike elsewhere. During all these festivities, and it truly was a festival atmosphere, people were putting away the FREE BBQ sandwiches

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine What can we expect from Bulldog in the coming months? “We are making a lot of positive changes. Events will be the biggest thing you see from the outside. We are working with the town to get everything flowing so we can continue to have bigger and bigger events. (Rumor has it “The Switch” will be opening for “COWBOY: The Kid Rock Tribute Band on June 4th) We are bringing in A LOT of inventory. We want to be known for having what you want when you want it. We are hiring the best people we can find to grow it to scale. We have a lot of exciting things in the near future. Stay Tuned!”

and baked beans cooked and prepared by The Flaming Pig. I do not know how many showed up the Grand Opening, but all the BBQ was eaten. So, a truck load of pizzas was brought in. And if that was not enough, free homemade ice cream was served while it lasted. And of course, what Grand Opening would be a success with free sodas and beer? In addition to all the food and activities already described, there was live music on the stage at 11am. The Guy Unger Band started the first song with some Led Zeppelin. They did an excellent job. Each song was better than the one before it. If you get the opportunity to see them, I promise you will not be disappointed. The afternoon ended with another band. Maybe you have heard of them. Saliva. They have had a few hits songs. You WWE fans may remember the wrestler Batista coming to the ring to their song “I Walk Alone.” Other favorites of mine include “Your Disease” and “Ladies and Gentleman.” If you still are not sure who Saliva is, then think “Click, Click, Boom.” These guys are super talented and as down to earth as you would want a big time musician to be. They finished the show with all the kids in the audience up on stage with them. One thing is for sure, Carson loves to throw a great party! He intends to put Bulldog Harley-Davidson on the map as the place to go. So, I had to ask a few more questions about where he plans to take the business.

What can we expect from Bulldog in the coming years? “We have a large expansion in the process now. The building just is not big enough for what we have going on. We are already in the design phase of this build out, but a permanent stage is on the list. We want Bulldog HD in Smithfield to be a destination for people to come and enjoy a day there. So, we need things for entertainment.” Your dad was in the auto industry for 34 years. Does that leave you with some big shoes to fill? “My dad is my hero. I have always admired his work ethic, his ability to predict the market, and the way he did business. I do not think I could ever fill those shoes. He has a crazy attention to detail. I am not that dialed in. He retired in July of ’21. I still hear people talk about how nice his used cars were or how easy it was to do business with him. He was a Chevrolet dealer for 34 years. I hope he is as proud of me as I am of him.” What kind of legacy do you see yourself leaving in the motorcycle industry? “I have not thought much of leaving a legacy in the industry. It is really about the whole team. We have an amazing team throughout all the stores. Maybe I am the leader of the circus, but it takes all of us to leave the mark. I hope we are known for being good to our team and customers, trying to always make wrongs, right and having good customer service.” What is your number one priority for BDHD? “My number one priority right now at Bulldog HarleyDavidson is getting our name and reputation out into the area. We are here to do business and have fun. We want to build a good relationship with everyone in the biker community. I am looking forward to this. I am having a blast here. We have an awesome team.”

I am looking forward to witnessing the growth and transformation of NC’s NEWEST Harley-Davidson dealership. Good luck Carson and crew!!

Stunnaville !!!! All Harley World Shootout

Story and photos by Alan Dockery he All Harley World Shootout series kick started 2022 with a great event at Stunnaville, the dragstrip at Fayetteville Motorsports Park, the last weekend in April. If you love big motor Harleys, burnouts, wheelies and good drag racing you should have been there. There was a good racer turnout and lots of other things to entertain the All Harley World Shootout fans. A truck and car show put on by 8LugCircus, Casey and TC Steele, brought some cool cages to the strip. Joshua Dial and No Life Empire showed up as well. An Audio and Custom Bike show was hosted by Joey Hensley of BackYard Baggers. Amazing the volume and clarity that comes out of those stereos on two wheels. Fans could walk the pits talking to racers and checking out their cool machines. Harley Drags are a friendly place where all folks are welcome. The diversity of motorcyclists was obvious when you look at the vendors and the things they brought to sell. The food folks were serving up a variety of

great grub too. From fried fish and chicken to classic BBQ. It’s always cool to see racing buddies at the start of the year. Folks stay in touch through Facebook these days. But nothing is better than a handshake and hug. Lots of fans were there cheering for Lumbee Racing. Stamey Racing and Team Honeybun had some Hot Rod Harleys in Stunnaville. Brook McCabe was on a Bad Black Bagger. I tried to get him with the front wheel a foot in the air in second gear. But each pass he got better at gettin the power down just right to barely skip the front. I met Brook years ago when he was racing a Top Fuel Harley. He said this Bagger Racing is as much fun and cheaper. Very few bikes were racing at Stunnaville with wheelie bars. Ride that wheelie out and go. Some teams of Harley racers are showing up at the Bagger Drags these days. Gotta respect the Street Kings team from Georgia. You might lose money betting against them. So many other teams and individuals at Stunnaville were putting on a great show for the All Harley World Shootout. Mike Beland, Maiden, NC, and the A1 Cycles Team turned out with several bikes and took home a couple belts. Mike and team were wearing his Drain Daddie sponsor uniforms. They get my vote for Most Professional Team, from looking the part to performance on the strip. Mike’s new machine looked great but had issues getting all that power to the pavement. Harley Drags fans love the sound and smell of nitromethane. Paul Watson loves to put on a great show for fans, so he had a couple Top Fuel Harleys in Fayetteville. Rocky Jackson and Michael Balch put on a two out of three Top Fuel Harley match race. The Young Gun, Michael, with the new team took the best of two out of three. Greg Dahl, maintaining and tuning

Michael’s bike, is racing Nitro now. Dustin Chandler was cuttin’ up on the strip. He made several passes wheelin’ that big Road Glide Harley Bagger a thousand feet down the track. He’s one of my local boys from the hills and been cuttin’ up on motorcycles since a kid. Dustin and his buddies do stunts on Harleys instead of little foreign bikes. This was the first race for the new International Harley Drag Racing Association, created by Andy Simon, Jr. This association is similar to NHRA and NASCAR in that they will sanction races and manage certain classes. Under the IHDRA is a racing series called the Outlaw Bagger World Series. Andy has partnered with Bill Rowe and the All Harley Drag Racing Association to have four races at his events. Two of Andy’s races will be at Paul Watson’s All Harley World Shootout events. Serious organization has come to Harley Bagger Drags. The All Harley World Shootout has lots of racing classes for everyone from the longtime Pro Racer to the fan who has never been down the dragstrip. If you want to give drag racing a try, then you need to bring basic gear and enter the Chopper Man Classic Class. Sponsored by The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine, CycleDrag.com, and Ken “Chopper Man” Koby, this is the class for beginners on basically stock bikes. Ya gotta hand clutch and foot shift. No race bikes. We will gladly teach you how to stage at the starting line and get down the strip. You can be a Harley Drag Racer. “All Harley World Shootout fans, Stunnaville Motorsports Park in Fayetteville was on point,” said Paul Watson, AHWS and Lumbee Racing owner and promoter. “Shane and Meta Hunt along with Don Scott worked hard to give us a great venue to race and race we did.” “Huge shoutout to the fans, racers, vendors, Fort Bragg H-D, Law Tigers of the East, CycleDrag.com, DragBike. com, The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine, 8 Lug Circus, BackYard Baggers, Joshua Dial, DJ Kev, and Stunnaville track personnel. Everything was on point, and we put on a great show for our fans.” “We had 97 bikes and I swear all of them went into multiple classes. Worked me and poor Andy Simon, Jr. like wet mules.

No safety incidents and everyone went home in the same condition as they came.” “Congrats to all the winners. Some intense battles on the track and the cash and belts you won you definitely earned. Folks I am making this announcement again regarding our friends that we lost in the race world. At the end of the day, we racers are just one big family. In that race family we lost a titan in the Nitro world with Don “DJ” Johnson’s recent passing. Ken Browne, who is Pete and Keith Browne’s father, is missed. In the Harley Bagger world, Michael Fricke who was not only the brother of Marc Fricke but friend, teammate, and best buddy to a lot of folks. You three may not be here now but you will not be forgotten. We will dedicate the remainder of the season to you and your families.” “Georgia here we come. Lumbee Racing vs StreetKing Motorsports all happening at Silver Dollar Dragway in Reynolds, GA, May 27 & 28. Stay tuned for more info on that race.” “Again, thank you to the racers and fans for your loyal support. We ride Harleys and we race Harleys,” said Paul with Lumbee Racing Stunnaville Winners

South Main Customs May Day Play Day Poker Run By: Lincoln Infield

thirty percent chance of rain shouldn’t stop a

bunch of bikers from having a good time. I mean, that’s a seventy percent chance of sunshine. Now if we are talking about going to South Main Customs Play Day Pay Day Poker Run, well, that’s one hundred percent a good time that you shouldn’t miss out on. Ya’ see, Dano and Gina Simmons of South Main Customs have a son, Casey, who has Spina Bifida. Casey is a brilliant young man with a heart of gold, and they wanted to raise some awareness and funds for Spina Bifida Research. So, they put up $2000 in cash with $1000 towards a winning poker hand and put it on the first Saturday of May, May 7th to be exact. There was spotty rain all over the state, but there were groups of bikes rolling in to South Main Customs that morning and nothing but sunshine. The DJ was cranking out some tunes, and there were a couple vendors set up including CBA ABATE of NC, The Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Firm and His Laboring Few. It was an open ride, once you signed up and got your poker sheet you could ride off to the stops and go at your own pace. The lot just about emptied before my riding crew all showed up. I was riding with a Motley Crew of CBA Members, Shaggy, Dereck and Mike and Tyler of the Tom McGrath Law Firm. Dereck and Mike knew their way around the area so the rest of us just followed along and enjoyed the ride. It wasn’t too far into the first leg of the ride before we ran into 100% of that thirty percent chance of rain. When we got to the Tamarak Marina to pull our first card we found a large group of riders waiting out the rain. It was gonna take a little more than some cloud sweat to keep us sitting still, plus, we were already wet. Well, I was wet, the rest of my group had rain suits on. We left the Marina and headed to our next stop. We ran straight out of the rain and into some

beautiful sunny weather. By the time we got to our second stop, I was nearly dry and the rest were sweating in their rain suits. We stood around and enjoyed the beautiful weather before pulling our cards and riding on. I was feeling pretty good about my poker hand. I was holding a few face cards, but by the time I pulled my final cards, it had gone to the crap. We’ve all been there, I’m sure. We got back to South Main Customs in good time to party with everyone else that had returned from the ride. Brad Gan-

dy and the Blue Collar Cycle Company crew were serving up some awesome bbq plates. Don’t mind if I do. I got a big ‘ol BBQ sandwich, potato salad and coleslaw. It was awesome. We were kickin’ tires and telling lies when the time came for the raffles, 50/50 and the poker hands to be announced. They had a bunch of great raffle prizes including heated gloves, H-D duffle bags and helmets and more. None of which I won. The poker hands were announced and all but a few hundred was donated back to Spina Bifida research. Good job y’all. Mark Livengood had the high hand with a 3-4-5-6-7 straight, Scott Heish pulled a 2-3-4-5-6 straight for 2nd place, Paul Hermenn took 3rd place with 3 Aces and Allen Needham had the 4th hiest hand with 3 8’s. At the end of the day, this event raised $7060 for Spina Bifida Research! It was a great day of riding for a great cause with good friends, and I look forward to doing it again next year! Is It The Destination Or The Ride? An Interview With

Tyler Stiles Of

Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group

By Lincoln Infield f you have spent any time riding and attending

events in the Carolinas’ there’s a good chance that you’ve ridden with or hung out with someone from the Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group. They are the “Firm That Rides” after all. The Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group has the southeast covered with offices in Virginia, North and South Carolina and Georgia. Recently I was able to sit down with Tyler Stiles, Tom McGrath’s North Carolina Attorney. Tyler and I usually end up in some kind of shenanigans at bike rallies, rides and swap meets including Hoffzilla Pork Chop Sandwich eating competitions, downhill Barbie Car racing, Wasabi eating or just seeing who can keep their bike balanced longer at traffic lights. This time we sat down to talk about The Firm That Rides involvement in the motorcycle community and to add a vote to the eternal question: Is It The Destination Or The Ride. I met up with Tyler at his Raleigh, NC office, but like I mentioned before they help injured bikers from their offices in Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia as well. Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group Attorneys will also come to you if are unable to come out to their office. As a matter of fact, Tyler had to clients to visit later in the afternoon that day, so we had to get down to business. To get a little background, we had to go back to the 1980’s when Tom McGrath got started defending motorcyclists and their rights. Tyler explained that Tom McGrath got a reputation, especially among the clubs, as someone who would give them a real fair shake as a prosecutor. So, they started bringing other issues to him. Tom was able to work on some cases for the motorcycle community outside of personal injury claims like including opening up the HOV lanes for motorcycles. “From there, Tom, realized there was a real need for representation” in the motorcycle and that

grew into the Firm That Rides. Tyler used a Sportster to clear his mind while attending law school and after graduation and got his start in 2018 practicing law with the Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group. “One of the prerequisites for working here was that you had to have a motorcycle endorsement and you had to have active North Carolina Law License. I thought it was worth taking a look at and throwing my hat in the ring. As I learned more about the firm and the lobbying efforts and the efforts to support the community outside of personal injury, I thought it was a really good fit and apparently they thought the same, cause, here I am.” Tyler said. Tyler started in a support role to Attorney Liz Sorrel who at the time was running all the North Carolina business. He has since taken over the NC office and has been running it for the last couple years. Now as well as being part of the motorcycle community the Tom McGrath Law Firm lobbies for motorcycle rights, free of charge, in all the states that they practice in. Tyler Stiles is the current registered lobbyist with CBA/ABATE of North Carolina. 2022 is a short session for the NC legislation, meaning no legislation will be advanced that doesn’t directly relate to the budget. Tyler referred to the short session as a “defense year”. But for 2023 he and the CBA / ABATE of NC have a few bills that they are working on. The first being an Equal Access Bill that would work to allow motorcycles in all tax funded parking facilities. “If you’ve been to some of the bigger cities, some of the municipal parking decks in Asheville, Durham or Greensboro, there will be “no motorcycles” signs on them. Our position is that if those buildings were built with tax dollars that we paid into them, we should be granted access to them.” Tyler commented. They are also working on warming the legislature up to Lane Filtering in North Carolina that would allow motorcycles to advance to the front of the

line of stopped traffic. This would reduce traffic congestion and promote safety for motorcyclist to keep them from being pinned between cars due to careless drivers. They are also looking to promote a bill to expand the CBA / ABATE Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Program. North Carolina is one of the only states that has this curriculum in drivers ed classes teaching young drivers to look out for motorcycles. The bill would expand that program to be included in driving school for those who have serious driving infractions or multiple infractions to further remind drivers to look out for bikers. “I think we would see a positive impact on rider crash statistics if we were able to get that curriculum in front of them” Tyler added. If you are interested in your rights as a biker and want to help have an impact on these issues, please consider coming out to Lobby Day. Now that we got some business out of the way, we got down to talking about motorcycles and riding. Not only does the Tom McGrath Motorcycle Law Group require its attorneys to have a motorcycle endorsement but they also take advanced riding courses and go for “Firm Rides” at least every other year. This past year they took a south west trip and rode out to Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Tyler was good enough to chronicle the ride in our November 2021 issue. They also do their part to ride in local charity events and attend all kinds of charity and other biker events. As for Tyler, he as few different bikes to choose from depending on what type of riding he’s in for. Tyler says, “The bike that most people are familiar with seeing me on is a 2007 Ultra Classic, that one just rolled over 115,000 miles a week or two ago, so

it’s hanging on. I have the ’03 Sportster that I got from my dad back in law school.” Tyler’s wife, Bailey, is a rider also and her current ride is a 2009 BMW r1200r which he calls a “Swiss army bike”. “But the bike that when people ask me what bike I have, I tell them I have a 2012 Triumph Street Triple which I bought a few years ago and it’s probably my favorite of the bunch” He admits. As far as favorite riding areas, Tyler says he definitely prefers the mountain roads and says that his favorite stretch of road is US 33 between Virginia and West Virginia outside of Massanutten, VA. He also has some local favorites in the Raleigh area including Beaver Dam Road in Wake County. Now you know most country roads with animals in their name are gonna be good! Tyler also said, “Otherwise I really like riding out west. Anybody who has a motorcycle should try to ride around in the desert for a while, it’s something, it’s an experience.” Although Tyler grew up in the West Virginia, Pennsylvania area he still has New England as a bucket list ride. I tell ya, I don’t blame him, I’d love to go on a fall ride up through the colonial states as well! Tyler went on to say “I’d be interested in riding overseas, too, to be honest with you. Iceland is supposed to have some really cool stuff. Even some of the Scottish Hills and stuff like that. But there’s so much cool stuff to see here, I’ll worry about that stuff later on”. As far as the eternal question of “Is it the destination or the ride”, Tyler added a notch to the Ride column saying that “It’s gotta be the ride, right? You can go anywhere, but you can have a real good time on the way”. As advice to riders Tyler says “If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation that you have had a wreck, get as much information at that wreck scene that you can. Try to get photos, names and phone numbers of everybody that is out there. The more information you can get me or whichever attorney you end up using if you need one the better you can place us in that scene.” “The burden is on us as the injured party to prove that the wreck happened the way we said it did.” Prior to a wreck, make sure you carry as much underinsured / uninsured motorist coverage as you can. Tyler will even go over your Insurance Declarations page with you free of charge and advise you if there is anything that needs to be changed. If you have questions or need an attorney, consider calling 1-855-Law Riders and let the Firm That Rides navigate you through those difficult times.

A Doubly Blessed Saturday

By Wally Wersching

aturday,

April 23rd was going to be a great day. The weather was sunny and warm, and I had a full day planned. I stopped for gas on the way west on Rt 74. After I cleared “Miss Vickie’s” trip meter, I switched to the odometer, and noticed that it read 80,999 miles. After a minute on the road, it turned 81,000 miles. It seems like only yesterday that I rode her home ten years ago with only 13,000 miles on her. I continued heading west on Rt 74 and exited to go into Forest City on Rt 221A. I went south and started looking for the Full Throttle Biker Church on the left. I rode behind the building, and then into the field on the gravel road. I parked near the other bikes and found Mike Gettys, the pastor of the Full Throttle Biker Church. I helped him move his wife out of the truck, and onto her wheel chair so she could sit in the shade. Then I started to walk around to see what was happening. The Bike Blessing would take place individually under the tent. I enjoy the individual blessing much better than the mass blessing where the pastor stands up on the porch or a stage, and blesses all the bikes and riders at once. They did it that way when I lived in Chicago. Individual is much better, and more personal. Mike was going to start blessing at 11:00AM. There were a couple other tents in the field. One was jewelry, and the other was more of a swap meet. It had everything from Harley mufflers to a steer’s skull with large horns which

would look great on the wall in a “Man Cave”. It was interesting to look through all the stuff. I watched as more and more bikes rolled in. I walked over to make a donation, and get a hot dog. The event was also a fundraiser for a family in Mike’s congregation who needed some financial help. It’s always good to share the wealth. Mike had started to bless the bikes and riders so I got in line. It’s always a good thing to have God on your side, especially when your life is in other people’s hands when you are riding your motorcycle. Mike gave me a “Full Throttle” Biker Church sticker that said that we were blessed to place on “Miss Vickie’s” windshield. Then a group of bikes rolled in from the Cleveland County Independent Bikers (CCIB). I walked up to “Radar”, and asked about “Grumpy”. I was supposed to meet him there. He said that he wasn’t feeling too good because of his chemo treatment. That really knocks you out. I wish he’d get better. I miss seeing him at these events. I bumped into other friends walking around in the crowd, and gave out a few magazines. They all seem to enjoy getting the magazines. I walked up onto the porch of the building to get a good shot of the field. It was almost completely full of bikes. I was glad that Mikes’ Bike Blessing was such a success. I was getting ready to leave when I saw Daryl pulling up to get blessed. I had to get a picture of this. He really needs the blessing. He and his wife ride a lot. Mike hammed it up a little. He likes to see his picture in the magazine. I left at about noon heading south toward Rt 221. Rt 221 is a very pleasant road. It’s a very wide and straight four-lane in North Carolina, and narrow two-lane in South Carolina. Before I knew it, I was in Chesnee. I continued south until I got to the frontage road for I85 (Sha Lane), and turned left. Spartanburg Harley-Davidson was on the left. I pulled into the parking lot and parked near the Christian

Motorcyclists Association (CMA) tent. A couple men came out to greet me. The CMA is a great group of people. This is the Spartanburg chapter, “The Jabez Riders”. I’ve known some of the members for many years. I noticed an old friend “Mongoose’ was just leaving. I had to say hello. I hadn’t seen him in years. He hurt his foot and could not ride for a long time. I was glad to see him riding his Indian again. I walked to the CMA tent to give a donation, and get a hot dog. They were serving them with all the fixin’s – chili, slaw, and anything else you might want. I got mine with only mustard and onions. It was pretty good! As I was sitting on the bench eating the hot dog, I noticed that they were walking around blessing the bikes and riders. After I finished eating, I found Joe and David (the chapter president). We walked to “Miss Vickie”, and they blessed me and the bike. They gave me a sticker to put on my windshield to replace the one from last year. As I was getting ready to leave, I noticed that the traffic on the interstate was not moving in the direction that I wanted to go. I could see the tops of the semi-trucks just parked. I asked if anybody knew anything about it. Someone said that there was an accident with two semi-trucks that was blocking the entire interstate in that direction. I decided that I would take the back roads home, and avoid the interstate. I had a very pleasant ride home knowing that God was with me. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Law Tigers & Carolina Hurricanes Give Away Custom Bike By: Jerry Spencer - Law Tigers Representative n April 28, at the first intermission of the Hurricanes v. NJ Devils game, a custom 2014 Harley-Davidson was rolled onto the center ice. Accompanying the bike onto the ice were Dan Nicely, the Law Tigers finalist, two Carolina Hurricanes finalists, Lyonel Gammon of Law Tigers, Mark Hendrix of Tobacco Road Harley Davidson, Mike Causey of Toxic Customs and members of the great staff of the Carolina Hurricanes. This moment was the culmination of a five-month long contest to win the bike of a lifetime. I had notified Dan Nicely on Tuesday of that week that he was the Law Tigers finalist for the contest. From the moment I called him, he could not hide his gratitude and excitement. His face when they announced he was the winner was worth every bit of work it took to get here. The Hurricanes fans shared his excitement! Law Tigers are motorcycle injury attorneys. We specialize in helping riders in need after an injury. With the attorneys that I work closely with, it is always satisfying to get out into the biker community, to support the riders, to help injured bikers and their families, and in this instance, to give away a gorgeous motorcycle. Mark Hendrix, the GM of Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson was on board the moment I approached him. Mark and his entire staff were gracious and hard-working throughout the entire contest. Knowing the Carolina Hurricanes’ colors to be black, red and white, I fully expected a simple black, red, and white motorcycle. Instead, the Toxic Customs paint job was stunning; with its attention to detail, the shading and the incorporation of the Canes, Tobacco Road, and Law Tigers logos, the Canes’ fans nickname, and

the North Carolina flag, everything was perfectly placed. Mike went as far as to fabricate a custom Hurricanes logo air cleaner that the four Canes’ captains signed. Due to NHL COVID protocols, getting the captains to sign the cleaner was an “adventure” worth repeating when I run into you somewhere. The giveaway required many commercial shoots, loads of coordination, and keeping the bike at my house, which stressed me and my wife more than a little bit. The management team of the Carolina Hurricanes, Morgan Weber, and Carolina Hurricanes’ President and GM Don Waddell were exceptionally easy to work with and super excited about the motorcycle’s representation of their fans’ enthusiasm. Everyone at the Canes’ organization went out of their way to make this a success as did Mark and his staff at Tobacco Road, and Mike and the hardworking folks at Toxic Customs. The winner, Dan Nicely, is one of the most aptly named hu-

man beings I have ever encountered. Genuinely a good dude. He is both a biker and a huge Canes fan and it was one of the highlights of my year to watch him walk on the ice to receive his custom Canes’ bike. We at Law Tigers take supporting the motorcycling community seriously; whether it is fighting for the compensation a rider needs after an accident, to supporting events with the lawyers who ride, to even pulling over to help a biker who is out of gas, we are here to support the riders. This bike giveaway, however, was the opportunity to work with three other fantastic organizations and have some real fun. Mark Hendrix summed it up when he said, “This is one of the coolest things I’ve done in my life.” I think we all agree. A little side note for those who didn’t win. Check out www. Friends ope everyone is doing well!

There’s a lot of things going on this time of year as the weather is getting warmer. I just want to ask you a question. How many friends do you really have? I mean really true friends. Not the ones that will tell you, that if you need them they are just a phone call away, but never seem to be available. Well, I guess some of them cut their phones off. Don’t get me wrong things come up and you can’t always be there when needed. Since October I’ve had a lot of health issues, and David and some close friends have been a great help. Some of my Christian friends have not done so good on their part. But that’s okay, circumstances come up and you just can’t keep your word. But let me tell you about a friend that will never break a promise, His name is Jesus. He’s the one that sticks closer than a brother and is always there no matter what. Proverb’s 18: 24- He has said “I will never leave thee or forsake thee” If you don’t know Jesus I pray you’ll seek Him. All you have to do is pray and ask Him to come into your heart.

In His Wind, Ms. Pat

Best Bike OnThe Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine The Lot Contest At Bulldogs Bike Night 50

By John Ridenhour n May 5th I had the privileged to attend bike night at Bulldogs Bar and Grill, which is the premier destination for Wednesday night bike night in Albemarle NC. There is a very biker friendly atmosphere by the staff, great service and food as well, live bands that rock out the night, as well as 8 diamond pool tables. On the 5th the night was made even more special because Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine teamed up with Carolinas’ Bike Lawyers and Bulldogs to have a awesome bike night with a $100 Best Bike on the Lot contest. It was the kind of weather you dream of for bike night, warm, but not balmy. The house band “Community Service Band” was rockin’ and the tunes carried outside and kept the crowd entertained. There where bikers there from all over, with some really amazing bikes which made the decision extremally hard. When The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine and Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers do a best bike on the lot, it’s just that. There’s no registration, no cost, just have to be parked in the parking lot to be considered for the honor. It took a few times going through the lot to make a decision. I mean, picking just one bike out of a crowd of killer sleds isn’t easy! In the end there was one bike that stood out and keep calling the judges back to take another look. Justin Lovingood and his 1972 AMF Harley-Davidson chopper was awarded the Best Bike On The Lot title and took home the $100. Huge thanks to Sean Clayton of the Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers and Lincoln Infield of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for adding to the bike night festivities. Hey guys I encourage you to go out and see the girls at Bulldogs they are definitely at the top of there game, and just the whole bike vibe going on there is great, also some beautiful scenery in Stanly County, it’s worth the ride out there.

10th Annual Sandhills NC Bike Blessing

By: Chi

Biker Church, The 10th Annual Sandhills NC Bike Blessing was awesome! It was Saturday, April 2nd. It all took place at 455 Rock Hill Road Fayetteville NC. The annual event is always a hit! The parking areas were covered with motorcycles from side to side. As others approach, everyone is greeted with a smile and welcome. Hugs and handshakes is what you notice first when a few motorcycles come in. After these warm expressions and greetings, you can sit back from a distance and notice a circle of bikers starting to form around the motorcycle, these are the prayer warriors. In the symbolic circle, prayers are offered for protection on your journeys. It is the most reverent and humbling experience. Bikers praying for each other. And as the message goes to love one another and be your brother’s keeper. That atmosphere was sure in the air and everyone in unity to give thanks for blessings even yet to come. Of course, there was plenty of fun to be had as well. Vendor tents were set up all around. There were vendors, with t-shirt’s, jewelry, hand crafted items, as well as some delicious treats. Not reedom

to mention the delicious plates served by the church. Needless to say, there was plenty to keep everyone pleased, entertained and full during the day’s events. The day was also full of keepsakes and bike gear. There were door prizes, grand prize, raffles and other drawings and winnings taking place. It’s always an honor to attend this event where you feel the brotherly and sisterly love that abounds within the biker community. It is certainly a destination trip because there are so many friendly faces you want the day to last a little longer. Towards the closing of the event, you can hear conversation about some people getting together within the next few days, inviting each other to upcoming rides. While others are sure to invite you to return for Sunday Worship Service, Pastor JD Tew or midweek Thursday night ‘Put it in Gear’ service with Associate Pastor Bill Johnson. You can also find Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville on Facebook for live services. Keep the blessings rolling, brum brum!

Outer Banks, I ran into Gene Hobbs and his spectacular 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. The bright orange paint and gleaming chrome accents caught my eye. But Scan This QR Code what I really liked was, after getting to talk to Gene, I realized this was a rider! Gene has With Your Smart Phone racked up over 26k miles hitting the bike rallies and even riding the Tail of the Dragon on this beast! Gene bought his 2015 Road Glide Special new from Ray Price Harley-Davidson in Raleigh, NC. “I really didn’t know which way I wanted to do the bike but after meeting Jason Beaver who owned Crazy Beaver custom in Selma, North Carolina he had me set in the big wheel bagger. I met him at his shop and we set down and went over what he thought would look good so from there I told him I wanted an orange in paint job and that’s all he needed” Gene Says. Gene’s Road Glide has Camtech gas tank, bags and rear fender. A monster 30-inch wheel and matching rear wheel paired with custom air ride front and rear with a MRI center stand keep his ride cruisin’ in style. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.” The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the quarters and leaves. “What did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns! Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream parlor. “Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?” The boy licked his cone and replied: “Because the day I take the dollar the game is over!” Two Hollywood stars ran into each other at the door of their psychiatrist’s office. “Hello there,” said one. “Are you coming or going?” “If I knew that,” said the other, “I wouldn’t be here.” A gawky lad from New England came to New York with his girl and took her to nearby Playland Amusement Park. They had heard a lot about the Tunnel of Love and were especially anxious to try it out. But when they got home, the kids expressed disappointment. “Shucks,” the boy said, “it was dark and damp and uncomfortable. Besides, we got soaking wet.” “How come?” asked a friend. “Did the boat leak?” The kid looked amazed. “There’s a boat?” On a visit to my doctor, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he had installed taped music in the waiting room. As I sat there enjoying a piano recording, I overheard an elderly lady say to her companion, “Just like these young doctors – a crowded waiting room, and he’s in there playing the piano!”

Walter took his wife Ethel to the state fair every year, and every time he would say to her, “Ethel, you know that I’d love to go for a ride in that helicopter.” But Ethel would always reply, “I know that Walter, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.” Finally, they went to the fair, and Walter said to Ethel, “Ethel, you know I’m 87 years old now. If I don’t ride that helicopter this year, I may never get another chance.” Once again Ethel replied, “Walter, you know that helicopter is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.” This time the helicopter pilot overheard the couple’s conversation and said, “Listen folks, I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll take both of you for a ride; if you can both stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won’t charge you! But if you say just one word, it’s 50 dollars.” Walter and Ethel agreed and up they went in the helicopter. The pilot performed all kinds of fancy moves and tricks, but not a word was said by either Walter or Ethel. The pilot did his death-defying tricks over and over again, but still there wasn’t so much as one word said. When they finally landed, the pilot turned to Walter and said, “Wow! I’ve got to hand it to you. I did everything I could to get you to scream or shout out, but you didn’t. I’m really impressed!” Walter replied, “Well to be honest I almost said something when Ethel fell out but, you know, 50 dollars is 50 dollars!” Did you hear the one about the shepherd who drove his sheep through town and was given a ticket for making a ewe turn? An MIT linguistics professor was lecturing his class the other day. “In English,” he said, “a double negative forms a positive. However, in some languages, such as Russian, a double negative remains a negative. But there isn’t a single language, not one, in which a double positive can express a negative.” A voice from the back of the room said, “Yeah, right.” A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped inches from a shop window. For a second, everything was quiet in the cab. Then the driver said, “Look, mate, don’t ever do that again. You scared the living daylights out of me!” The passenger apologized and

said, “I didn’t realize that a little tap would scare you so much.” The driver replied, “Sorry, it’s not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver — I’ve been driving a funeral van for the last 25 years.” Why don’t pirates take a shower before they walk the plank? They just wash up on shore. A man walks into a restaurant with a fullgrown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks for their orders. The guy says, “A hamburger, fries, and a coke,” and turns to the ostrich, “What’s yours?” “I’ll have the same,” says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. “That will be $18.40 please.” The man reaches into his pocket and, without looking, pulls out the exact change for payment. The next day, the guy and the ostrich return to the same restaurant and the guy says, “A hamburger, fries, and a coke.” The ostrich says, “I’ll have the same.” Again, the guy reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until one night they enter the restaurant and the waitress asks, “The usual?” “No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato, and salad”, says the guy. “Me too,” says the ostrich. The waitress brings the order and says, “That will be $42.62.” Once again, the guy pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress can’t hold back her curiosity any longer. “Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change out of your pocket every time?” “Well,” says the guy, “several years ago I was cleaning my attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.” “That’s brilliant!” says the waitress. “Most people would wish for a million dollars or something, but you’ll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!” “That’s right. Whether it’s a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,” says the guy. The waitress asks, “But, sir, what’s with the ostrich?” The guy sighs and answers, “My second wish was for a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say.”
