arch came in like a lion and is out like a lamb. At least it is here in the Triad of NC. It was in the upper 70s today and it looks like the cold weather is behind us. Even so, there were a lot of nice riding days this winter and I consider this a mild winter by any standard. Now that we have gained an hour of daylight in the evening, and that is growing every day, it is much easier to get motivated than it was when it was cold and dark, unless, of course, you had a nice, heated man cave to fiddle with your bikes in. I am not that lucky and getting out of work in the dark and cold temps just made me want to get home and back in the warm. But that is just a memory, now. Spring IS upon us and it has vastly improved my attitude and raised the level of my motivation. I, as I suppose you do, have projects that I want to get started/finished so that riding is again my focus. I have been whittling away at them over the colder months, but now I feel a renewed energy and vision to match. I am encouraged by the amount of new ads in this issue and also the number of events that have been streaming in, too. I sense that others are sharing the same spirit of renewal that I am and this is the proof of it. April 1st is the date for the American Flat Track races at the ½ mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We went last year and it was a great evening of racing. On the 8th Raging Bull H-D in Durham, NC will be hosting the 31st Annual Bike Show and Chili Cook-Off. It’s a big deal! Also on the 8th Eurobike 2017 will be held in Historic City Market in Raleigh. What a great setting to enjoy the day. On the 15th Seven Sabres Brotherhood will host the Annual Jami’s Wings Poker run starting at the clock tower in Angier, NC. The 12th Annual Spring Hogs & Rags Rally will leave the Airborne & Special Ops Museum in Fayetteville, NC for a police escorted ride to Wild Wings in MB, SC. The Outer Banks Bike Week will be April 22-30 this year. What a fun time we have had at that event! The 19th Annual Kerri D. Efird Memorial Scholarship Bike Run will leave out of West Stanley High School in Oakboro, NC and the Ridin Hawg Wild BBQ Capital Cook-Off will be held on the 29th in Lexington, NC. There are events for every weekend in April and MANY more listed in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar in this issue. Check them out and take your pick, but never, ever complain that there is nothing going on. 12th Annual Hogs & Rags Rally - April 22nd

Yes, 12 years and counting for the Annual Hogs & Rags Rally ride going from Fayetteville, NC to Wild Wings in Myrtle Beach South Carolina’s Barefoot Landing for a great ride and a great time there! This event is part of the Dogwood Festival of Fayetteville, is totally escorted, and has been growing every year to become the biggest motorcycle day rally in North Carolina. The Annual Hogs & Rags Rally is the premier community charity event that combines convertibles and motorcycles, great food, good causes, and a good time. All makes and models of bikes, trikes, street rods, and muscle cars are welcome. Let me be clear about this: Even though the name of the event is Hogs and Rags and hogs usually represent Harley-Davidsons and rags usually means convertible cars (that is how the event started), we invite all motorcycles and cars to participate. There will be door prizes and selling raffle tickets for a chance to win $2500 cash and raffle tickets for some guns. This is a wonderful event, which supports wonderful causes and we want everyone to know they are welcome. Last year we had over 350 participants. WE WANT YOU TO BE THERE THIS YEAR! This year’s premier’s sponsors are Ft. Bragg HD of Fayetteville NC, and Fayetteville Automall of Fayetteville, NC. Many other great sponsors and all the participants that come also join together to make this such a successful event. Fayetteville Mayor, Nat Robertson and his wife, Kim, who are also motorcycle enthusiasts will be leading year’s event along with a Sheriff’s Deputy Escort, all the way to Myrtle Beach, SC. Knowing that the ride will benefit others just makes the day that much better. Proceeds will benefit the Special Forces Charitable Trust, the American Cancer Society, and Kidsville News Literacy and Education Foundation. Even though there is a Sheriff’s escort for the entire ride from Fayetteville to Myrtle Beach, SC, the Hogs & Rags organizers know that to have a fun and safe ride. Before the ride, we give them a safety briefing and it covers the route, hand and arm signals and things to do in a ride and how to ride safely as a group. While everyone loves a good time, raising money for a charity is a big part of the Hogs & Rags mission. For anyone who rides or chooses to donate, this is where your money will go: American Cancer Society. The goal of the American Cancer Society (ACS) is to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer. They are committed to fighting cancer through balanced programs of research, education, patient service, advocacy, and rehabilitation. Kidsville News Literacy and Education Foundation. Despite ongoing efforts to provide reading and educational resources to our nation’s youth, illiteracy is still a problem in the United States.

Founded in 2011 this charity is to provide literacy education and character development resources FREE to children K-6th grade. The foundation approves grants to qualified projects and institutions that endeavor to instill strong reading and education skills and solid character-development traits in America’s Youth. Then back in the saddle again at 10:45 am and the next stop will be the NC/ SC State line in Tabor City for a water and bathroom break, and then proceeding, the ride will end at Wild Wings at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach, SC to enjoy a tasty and filling lunch. There will be a reverse raffle of $2500, door prizes, music, and great socializing for a great cause. The entire event ends around 3pm, leaving plenty of time to make it back to Fayetteville or to enjoy other activities in Myrtle Beach. Registration is $50 per person. This includes a T-shirt, breakfast and a lunch and a great contribution to the great charities. So please plan on joining us on April 22nd this year. Harley-Davidson Of Greensboro Announces Plans For New Location

The Greensboro Harley-Davidson® dealership is planning to relocate the business to better serve customers. Greensboro, North Carolina (February 23, 2017) – Harley-Davidson of Greensboro is excited to announce the pending relocation of their motorcycle dealership. Since the dealership was established in 1937, it has undergone several location and name changes. Most recently, they began looking for a location within their assigned territory that would be more central and convenient for their customers. With the bypasses nearly complete and the upward trending growth pattern in Greensboro and High Point, they targeted their search along the border of both cities where their highest density of customers reside. This would give them the opportunity to bridge both communities and enhance their accessibility. They identified a piece of property in High Point a mere 350 feet from the Greensboro city line that would require annexing and rezoning on N.C. Highway 68. The Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the High Point City Council are currently reviewing their request and Harley-Davidson of Greensboro is hopeful for a decision that will result in moving forward. Along with the location change, they will also be changing

the dealership’s name. Although they are eager to share this information, they are not prepared to release the details at this time. Harley-Davidson of Greensboro is excited to build a stateof-the-art facility that will accommodate more inventory, improve efficiency, and better serve their customers both now and in the future. Dealer Principal, Mark Wheelihan stated, “We are really excited about the move. It will provide a much better experience and be more convenient to more people.” Stay tuned for additional details and confirmed relocation dates. They will continue to operate at their current location, 538 Farragut Street, until the new facility officially opens.

House Of Spirits Grand Opening By: Kickstart and Donut Saturday, March 11th was a fantastic day for the grand opening for the House Of Spirits and proud owner, Miss Whitney Grimshaw. After a long road and a hard decision, Whitney decided to make a career change and open up her own bar with the help of her friends and go for the woman business owner attitude. Whitney has been around in the biker community and knows what it takes. Now offering a new place, she invites all neighborhood family and friends to come visit the House Of Spirits Saloon. So, the beginning of the grand opening started off at 3 pm with a flag dedication by the South Carolina Military Vets (USMVMC), followed by a moment of silence for fallen heroes to the sound of Taps in the background. Music played and the blessing of the location was done by the front man himself Jeremy Kelly of Chalkline. Great job by the way superman! Wink wink. Next, we had 2 VIP memberships and $100 and $50 bar tabs given away. So, to get the party going we got started by some live entertainment. First off Bo Jack Dawson and Alison played some great music to get us

23rd Annual Burlington H.O.G. And Down Home Harley-Davidson Hospice Bike Show

By: Scott Wicker Slightly warmer temperatures and no ice and snow brought out the largest turn out in history for the 23rd Annual Burlington H.O.G. Chapter Hospice Bike Show. The Show, as usual, was held inside the Holly Hill Mall in Burlington on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th. 127 entries represented 36 classes and categories to raise over $25,500.00 for Hospice of Alamance and Caswell Counties. This years total was one of the best ever in the show’s history. Many partici-

pants actually rode their motorcycles to get to the show due to the slightly warmer weather. Throughout the show’s history, it has raised over $325,000.00 in contributions. Donations were also raised through sales of 50/50 tickets, with most of the winnings donated back, and the Ladies of Harley Bake Sale. The fine folks from Pro Connection Cycles donated profits from t-shirt sales and brought in $100.00. The Cyclones Motorcycle Club also made a $100 donation as well as the AMSOIL representative that was in attendance. Items were donated and auctioned off on Sunday that included a custom Harley-Davidson Sportster seat and a Harley-Davidson windshield. Each bike had milk jugs tied to the front wheel so spectators could make contributions by putting money in the jug of their favorite bike. As in years past, everyone was allowed to raise contributions prior to the event. Trophies were awarded to those who raised the most in each class and to those who raised the 2nd and 3rd highest amounts also. All the bikes were also judged separately by a panel of judges making it two shows in one. The Extreme Bagger Class had 12 entries. Very impressive for this highly competitive class. Most folks would not have known him as David, but if you mentioned “Lulu”, an image of a big, happy, biker would come to mind. on February 24, at 49 years old, he left his family and friends here on earth way too soon. Some of their best memories include, his love of riding his motorcycle, talking on the phone with them, food, the beach, and Sponge Bob Squarepants! His wife, Tina said he loved to take selfies with his phone and sunrises at the beach. When at the beach, he made a point of getting up just to see the sunrise and get a picture of it. David Ray Llewellyn was the type of person who made friends wherever he went. He had the type of outgoing, friendly nature that drew people to him. His granddaughter explained his passing in this way, “Papa is special. He don’t need legs, he has wings and he’s going to be friends with God!” Even though his best friends were his family, over 300 of his friends rallied shortly after his death to hold a memorial ser-

vice for him. There was probably enough food to feed a thousand and enough money raised to help pay his final expenses. There is nothing, though, to replace David Llewellyn with his wife and children he left behind. As daughter Devin put it, “It is too quiet around here now. On February 13, North Carolina Highway Patrol says the DAILY driver of a white Ford F150 pick-up truck hit the motorcyDR IN K clists at the intersection of Old Hollow and Reidsville roads SP ECIALS! in Walkertown just before 7 pm. The pick-up truck tried to make a left turn onto Reidsville Road. Troopers say David Llewellyn, and his son, Harley Llewellyn, 21, were traveling north on Reidsville Rd./Hwy. 158 and had the green light, while the driver of the truck had a blinking yellow light. The driver hit David’s motorcycle head on. Harley hit the LIVE back of MUSIC the truck and both men were thrown from their bikes. Witnesses told troopers the driver hopped out of the truck and hung around for a short time, before he ran off from the scene. Authorities are still searching for the pick-up truck driver, who is described as a Hispanic man, about 5’ 6” – 5’ 8” tall, and weighs about 150 -170 pounds. Investigators said the driver was clean cut, wearing a dark grey sweatshirt (possibly with the words “Snap On” on the back) and blue jeans. Any witnesses that were at the scene of the crash and could possibly identify the driver are asked to call the Troop E, District 4 office at 336-761-2441 or the Troop E Communications Center at 704-855-1047.

2017 Annual Polar Bear Benefit Ride By: Kickstart & Donut Once again, another successful event for the Brothers Forever MC and ABATE Liberty Riders. They hosted another Polar Bear Benefit Ride Saturday, February 17, 2017. The weather was not perfect but everything else was good enough to get on them motorcycles and ride out to Gadgets in Lugoff, SC to register for the ride. The cost to register was $10 for a single and $15 for a couple. The first bike was out at noon and the last one out was 1pm, and the last bike was due in at 4pm. Our first stop was at Rogers Country Store, where we all know we can expect to get a fried bologna sandwich. Then we headed to the next stop to meet our good friends at Gossips in Elgin. Our next stop was on over at Pam’s Front Porch, where what happens on the porch, stays on the porch. Then we headed on the other side of town to meet up with them

wildcards at Jed’s Place and to get out of the rain that was following us. Once we did our time at Jed’s, we scooted on down the road to O’Kelly’s place in Hopkins to have a good time and see all the great people that came out to make this a great day in SC. All good things must come to an end, but the end of the ride was the best part of it all. There was a 50/50 drawing, a raffle, a best and worst hand give a way for the ride, and live music by Freddy Joe Midnight. Friends from all over helped pack the parking lot and the bar as planned. Over $2900 was raised and the money was donated to the Tucker Veterans Home. Memories, friends, and good times were what this day was made of. Great job to you all that came out. You are the ones that make the difference. Thank you all that made this day great for our veterans. I hope to see you again next year.

In collaboration with singer/songwriter Cody Siniard and video production by Robert Sisk of RCS Entertainment, the Guardians of the Children Gastonia, NC Chapter released “The Guardian Way”. Approximately 100 people were in attendance on Friday, February 17th at the Rock House Tavern for the official launch party of this powerful song and video. The message of the song speaks to the work of the non-profit organization. The mission of the Guardians of the Children (GOC) is to recognize and react to child abuse and educate the public to do the same; to serve as advocates to provide strength and stability to families in crisis; and to be the prayer of an abused child or teen for courage, support, and protection.

The 4th Annual SC Bikers Hall Of Fame Inductees By: Everette “EZ” Short This year the heat came on early when we came together on Saturday, February 25th to celebrate the 4th Annual SC Bikers Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The festivities started at 8PM sharp, with dinners of surf and turf on the table and previous members of the SCBHOF all about the room. Scattered local celebrities were in attendance and the mood was in full party motion when Bill Barber, the keeper of the Hall, stepped up to the microphone to call forth Reb Richardson, Ralph Bell (from SC ABATE) and Chad Fuller for the first three inductees. Then, Joe Santana and his band worked their magic on the crowd for a lively set of sexy women dancing and guys looking like those blow up things you see at roadside car lots. Joe and his band are just plain awesome, with a sound that is unmistakable. Joe always gives the crowd more than they bargained for in a big rock and roll sound, guitar,

and drum solos, as well as a personality that beams like a lighthouse on the shores of git down, old school rock and roll. Later on in the night, Bill Barber finished the inductions

for this year with James (JC) Childers and Leeanne Loveless (only the 2nd woman ever inducted) taking the stage to thank everyone for the honor with good speeches and a lot of hoo-hah whooping it up involved. I have covered this event since the first year and I have to say that the roster of heroes is an amazing group of people who have given back to the biker community for decades, without asking anything in return. This year’s five inductees were all legendary figures, who showed humility and gratitude for the spotlight that they have rarely stood in through all this time. Afterward, Joe Santana and his band continued to rock, as we danced and mingled the rest of the night away. The crowd was awesome and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I have to say the staff at SBB were, as always, gracious and quick with the refills of our glasses. Throughout the night, there were smiles across the isles and no attitudes or incidents whatsoever. Of course, why would there be, when everyone there was like family and we’ve known each other over the decades of steel, rubber, tears, and laughter. All inductees received a beautiful SCBHOF patch and plaque, as well as our applause, love, and respect. If you see someone with the blue patch on their back, be sure to take the time to listen to their story, because these are living legends that walk among us and be sure to tell them that you read about it in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. Blessing Of The Bikes At Low Country Harley-Davidson By: Brian Dixon On March 4, 2017, I attended the Blessing Of The Bikes at Low Country Harley-Davidson in Charleston, SC. Jennifer Gibson, event organizer, said this is the fourth year they have hosted this event and more people have attended each year. I don’t know what the actual attendance was, but the parking lot was completely filled with bikes! The event started at 9:30 am with biscuits and coffee provided by McDonalds. Christian band Vessel 21 entertained the crowd with Christian rock tunes. At 10:00 am Pastor B. H. Rader of Armored Up Motorcycle Ministry took over on the band’s microphone and asked everyone to bow their heads. He then gave a general blessing for everybody to be safe and healthy throughout the year as they ride their motorcycles. He also offered to perform individual blessings which many riders, grouped with their usual riding buddies, took him up on throughout the remainder of the morning.

The event was open to riders of all faiths, bike types, and brands, and believe me there was plenty of representation. Pastor Rader said it best when he said, “I’m actually blessing the riders that are going to be steering the bikes, not the actual bikes.” Pastor Rader informed me that Armored Up Motorcycle Ministry is an outreach motorcyclists’ and veterans’ ministry that provides spiritual support and guidance in a loving, nonjudgmental way. Based out of the Cathedral Of Praise at 3790 Ashley Phosphate Road in North Charleston, they are also renovating the old Catalina Motel on Rivers Ave as a boarding home for vets in need. While waiting their turn for individual blessings, attendees could get lunch from Big Daddy Dave’s BBQ and browse the numerous vendors set up around the parking lot perimeter. Many of the vendors were very worthy organizations providing membership information. These included ABATE of SC, the Motorcycle Awareness Alliance, Bikers Against Child Abuse and the H.F. Help No Kill Rescue animal shelter because we bikers love non petrol-powered companions, too! It was a great event that drew bikers of all types and ages riding every configuration of motorcycle known, and numerous motorcycle clubs wearing their colors. The camaraderie was evident, as the greater purpose of the event transcended the trivial differences that sometimes define us. If you didn’t make it to this year’s event, put it on your calendar for next year. As Jennifer said, “It’s a fantastic way to kick off the riding season and bring the biking community together.” It sure is, and I want to thank Low Country Harley-Davidson, Armored Up Motorcycle Ministry and all the vendors for supporting our biking community.

Catawba Valley H.O.G. Top Gun Rider Competition Story and photo by Alan Dockery The Catawba Valley Harley Owners Group Chapter #3194, Hickory, NC, started their Top Gun Rider Competition the first Saturday of March. Yeah it was a little chilly, but plenty of folks turned out at the sponsoring dealership, Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson, to test their skills and qualify for the riding season-long competition. You can brag all night about your skills, but riding the course is where you prove you are a Top Gun. The course set up in the parking lot and was similar to a motorcycle training road test and bike games. There are separate classes for Sportster, Cruisers and Touring bikes. Also, classes for single rider and two up. There will be a qualifying round in each category each quarter of the year. March is done, but you can still qualify in June, September, and November. The Grand Finale is planned for November, probably the same day as the qualifier. Challenges included Cone Weave, Quick Stop, Start and Sharp Turn, Two-Up Ring Toss, Ball On Cone, and Slow Ride. All skills are awarded a 10 point value. First round winners are: One Up Sportster: Billy Dagenhart, Cruiser: Gary McIntosh, Touring: Robert Bush, Two Up Touring: Chuck and Sandra Robertson. Six folks will qualify at each quarterly event. But there will be only one biker earning the Top Gun patch at the end. Once you are qualified, you will not have to compete again but you can continue to come to the contest each quarter to practice

your skills. Come out and watch even if you ain’t up to the challenge. The Top Gun Competition is for Catawba Valley H.O.G. Chapter members. PGR Mission For Ronald (Rollie) Crane USMC By: Wally Wersching On March 11th, 2017, Ronald (Rollie) Crane passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends. Rollie had served as a Corporal in the USMC during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Air Wing – Danang, Vietnam for 13 months. The Patriot Guard was notified, and requested to stand for him on Wednesday March 15th at the Clay Barnett Funeral Home in Shelby. It was only a visitation flag line – no burial. Rollie had been cremated. The Clay Barnett Funeral Home does something a little different for veterans being cremated. They get old weathered American Flags that would be destroyed, fold them in the proper way, and then place one on the chest of the veteran during cremation. That way, the veteran’s ashes will always have a flag with them. The visitation was scheduled from 5:30 to 7 pm. I arrived at the home at 5:00, and joined in the flag line. The Ride Captain had already placed flags around the front of the home.

That way, all who came or even passed by would know that a veteran was being honored. It was an unusual mission. Nobody rode their bike. It was frigid with the temps not getting out of the 30’s. We all were dressed in our cold weather riding gear. There were two entrances to the home. One was in the sun but also in the cold brisk wind, and the other in the shade but no wind. Both were like standing in a freezer. I was on the sunny side. The sun was actually keeping me warm for a while. People started coming in for the visitation. Almost everyone thanked us for being there for Rollie. A few asked which organization we belonged to. All were gracious. It almost warmed us as we stood there shaking from the cold. I walked to the other door to take a couple pictures, and noticed a great looking 1936 Plymouth Hearse. The home uses it when a family wants a funeral with something a little different. It’s in great shape. I’ve seen is around Shelby from time to time. It’s a real eye-catcher. At about 6:30, one of the PGR men where I was standing said that his legs were done. He couldn’t stand anymore. He slowly walked towards his car in obvious pain. At 7:00, the service began, and I couldn’t stop shaking all over. The flag line stood down, and I had to leave, too. It had been a very long time since I had been that cold. I felt bad that I left, and didn’t help take down the flags, but I had trouble walking, too. I was honored to be able to stand for Rollie, and I’ll go again when notified for the next veteran’s funeral. I just hope that it’s a little warmer.

By: Rick Nail Well, it started like this: Last Sunday while on our regular Sunday ride/quest for food, we were at Tamarac Marina enjoying a bacon cheeseburger, grilled shrimp, and a cold beer or four and Todd Peeler pops up and says, “Y’all ever been to Cody Creek?” And we said what and where is a “Cody Creek”? After a week of calling out CBA members, friends, and family, and watching the weather forecast, a ride was scheduled for Sunday, February 19, to enjoy lunch at the Depot at Cody Creek in Dobson, NC. The majority of us met at Stars n Bars in Salisbury on Sunday morning and rolled down 601 headed to Dobson. We picked up more friends in Yadkinville. We even had a couple of friends who flew in from the Roost and met us along the way. We ended up with 18 bikes in our parade. It was a beautiful day for a ride. Welcome to February in North Carolina - sunny and 70º! The destination was a beautiful place with GREAT food, really good service, and nice people. While we were there, other bikes came and went and a hot rod club rolled in, too. They had some beautiful cars and trucks. After getting full as a tick, some of the group decided to ride on home but most of us decided to ride to Pilot Mountain, since we were so close. So, off we went. Well, it seems, that half of North Carolina’s population also decided to visit the mountain on

Sunday. As we approached the park entrance, both sides of the road were packed with parked cars. Then we saw the trusty Park Ranger closing the park entrance because it was too crowded. Soooooo, on the road again, we headed back to Concord. This seems to be a future destination plan for myself and my Majik Mama (Myra’s nickname back in the days of the club and the PanHead) to come back and fulfill this ride on another day when it is not too crowded, and since now we have this retirement time in our lives, we can go during the week and enjoy the roads less crowded. Today is really what defines a good time with good friends. There were no problems, just lots of hugs and smiles and laughter. Until the next Ride, as my friend Hoppy [RIP] would say, “Life is good, and God is GREAT!” Y’all RIDE Safe & RIDE FREE!

By: Wendy Rogers What a great day to have a Chili Cookoff! On Saturday, March 5th Freedom Biker Church had a Chili Cook-off which was hosted at Ft Bragg HD of Fayetteville, NC. The weather was perfect for eating chili because it was a little chilly and a whole lot of Sunny! It was 55º and very sunny. Lots of help went into this event people from Ft Bragg and Freedom Biker Church which was very much appreciated. Thanks for all the great music provided by Scott James who was the DJ of the day. This year Ft Bragg HD gave away a 2017 Street 500. The lucky winner was Robert Bass from St. Pauls. Approximately 150 people were entered for this by test riding or buying a bike. Freedom Biker Church of Fayetteville, NC have been having this event for several years now. It is somewhat a fund raiser for the Church, but more than that, it is for just simple fellowship and a great opportunity to get out and get involved with your community. It is a great time of year to get out from being cooped up all winter and get to meet some new people. It is open to the public and every year it seems to have more contestants and more chili connoisseurs! You pay just $5 and you get a spoon and a fresh cup every time so you don’t mix the competitors chili up then you start digging in to all the entries! The people of Freedom Biker Church help

It is a place you can come and enjoy a great Sunday service. Come as you are and fellowship with them and enjoy the bands playing Christian rock music and more. If you have children of any age, it is very family oriented. They have classes for all ages. Sunday services start every Sunday at 10:45am, but come earlier to socialize. Hope to see you there. DC Ride

By: Todd Peeler When a couple friends of mine decided to head to DC for the Bikers For Trump Rally and the Presidential Inauguration of Donald J. Trump, I decided I was going to make that ride myself. I was very excited about our newly elected POTUS and wanted to witness history in the making. What started out as 4 friends, ended up being 11 before the ride ended with 7 having never met before. But we all know how bikers are, all you need is the one common thread, and that is riding. As we were cruising up the Interstate, there were plenty of

cars giving us the thumbs up sign and videoing us as I guess they knew where we were headed. It gave me a small sense of pride, because 5 of us are veterans and we were finally getting a Commander-In Chief who was not going to take any shit from now on. Every time we stopped for gas, people were constantly asking if we were headed to DC, and thanked us for doing it. We had a beautiful day going up so that just made the trip that much better. Friday morning, we headed to Franconia-Springfield Metro Station, as there were no vehicles allowed in DC that morning due to all the festivities. We were fortunate enough to find parking for all the bikes in one area. As soon as we got off the bikes, a family wanted to take their picture with us, and thanked us for coming. I actually believe people were concerned about what might take place, so for once bikers were a welcomed sight. After a 30-minute train ride into DC, as we walked out of the station, and made it out to the parade route, you could see all the different groups, mostly protesters. Of course, you had your Lady’s movement, Black Lives Matter, Disrupt Trump J20, and a couple more. As we walked down the stairs toward John Marshall Park (Bikers For Trump) we came up on approximately 2-300 BLM right near our gate. They eyed us down, and we eyed them right back, but no words were said at the time. We were informed that our gate had just been locked because of the protesters. We felt like it was not right to infringe on our rights just because the protesters were at our gate. We had been waiting at our gate minding our business when a small group of Disrupt Trump J20 came down at us, one making a comment about us” being in full force,” when one of them made the mistake of sticking his finger in our Marine’s face. Our Marine, Chris, didn’t know what his intentions were, so he kindly gave this boy a few knuckle sandwiches. A couple of guys in our group pulled him off, not wanting him to kill this knucklehead. During the commotion, a couple policeman walked past me, and I heard them say,” Oops, I forgot to turn on my camera,” so I knew that was our cue to let the protest-

ers have it. The police were instructed to stand down until the protesters got violent. The police finally came back, and made the protesters go back to their group. We hung around a little while longer, when a nicely dressed couple came by, and had to go through the group of protesters to get to their destination. The poor lady got separated from her husband, and the protesters surrounded her and starting one of their chants. You could tell she was scared. Our group seeing this, headed over to them, and when they saw us coming, they opened up the circle, and let her out. These POS would do things when in their big group, but get them away from the group, and they would run. About an hour later one of the cops we had been talking to, came and took us to a gate that was open. WOW! There were a thousand or more people herded into an area that had 2-4 ft. gates you had to pass through, and then go through a metal detector before you were allowed into the street. Two block sections of Pennsylvania Avenue were cordoned off, and you had to pass through the gate and metal detectors to get to the parade route. It was a big hassle, but you had to understand that security was of the utmost priority. We parked it there during President Trump’s inauguration speech, and planned our next move. During all this time, we were constantly being interviewed by various radio, TV, and magazine writers. I guess our group of 11 seem to stand out as the larger group hanging together. I have to admit, it was kinda cool at first, but after a while it got old. We had heard word that John Marshall Park was now open, and 2 volunteered to go scout the situation. We got our go ahead from them, and proceeded to the park where Bikers For Trump was having the rally. When we got there, there was another area that we had to be herded through to get inside. At least this time there were no protesters. After getting inside the park, we could finally relax a bit, since we were with our people. As we were waiting on the parade to start, this little gal comes up to us, and starts talking with us. We had no idea

who this little gal was. She finally introduced herself as Jan Morgan, a 2nd Amendment activist, and Fox News contributor. She was very friendly, and ended up interviewing our group, with Chris, who we are now calling Hollywood due to the earlier brawl. This was a chance to set the record straight, so Bikers For Trump wouldn’t get a bad rap. After seeing the POTUS and VPOTUS go by in their limo’s we figured we had better get out of Dodge to beat the crowds. We had not eaten anything all day, and was ready to grub out! We made it back to our hotels, and called it a day. The ride home Saturday wasn’t quite as nice as coming down. We started out in a hazy, light rain, just enough to make it aggravating, but when we hit Davidson County line, the bottom fell out. Oh well, to have traveled that distance, and only got wet for the last 30 miles, I can’t complain! All in all, it was a great trip. We made some new friends, had a great ride, and got to participate in the 2017 inauguration of our new President - Donald J. Trump! Man, that has a nice ring to it! We gave ourselves a name, since we couldn’t be the dirty dozen, we are the Elite Eleven! LOL Now I will end it with this, God Bless Donald Trump! and God Bless America! MAGA! Ride Safe Everyone!

Greenville, SC Star Riders Day At The Museum By: Bill Gallaway The monthly ride of the Greenville, SC Star Riders (StarChapter352.com) on the 11th of March turned into a cool day ride to the Currahee Military Museum in Toccoa, Ga. There were 13 bikes, 1 Cage, and 17 riders that ventured out. There were clouds in the sky, and it was the coolest day we have had in weeks. But we got the heavy gloves, chaps, and warm riding gear out of storage and planned a great day of riding. After a few stops from Powdersville, SC the riders made it to Seneca, SC to pick up a couple more riders for the trek to Toccoa, GA. There was even a couple that rode down from Hendersonville, NC to visit the museum with us. With the rain and snow in the forecast – yes, I mentioned the ‘S’ word - we wanted to make sure we got back home at a reasonable time. It was snowing in Hendersonville so the NC couple rode back early to avoid

You will not leave hungry unless you want to. Then it was off to the museum for those that didn’t take naps. Those that took in the wonders of the museum were in awe of the greatness the museum had to offer. Bros & Bro-ettes There have been so many friends that have died in the past couple of months that it isn’t funny. Some from wrecks and some from cancer. Every morning when I wake up I thank the good Lord for waking me up and getting me out of bed. Some folks can’t say that, or even get out of bed. We chose what we are going to do each day, even what we are going to eat and wear, even who we are going to listen to. Some people complain about their life and how things are going. Have you ever thought it may have something to do with what you listen to and even who you listen to, even what you listen to on the radio or even what you sit and listen to at work?

If we want things to change in our life, first we have to change ourselves. Mark 4:24 Take heed in what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. Don’t always pay attention to what people say, even your pastor, if it doesn’t line up with scripture, you don’t need to listen. Ever thought about tomorrow? Well we are not promised tomorrow. James 4:14 Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life. It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. That is our life. Do you think your friends that have died knew they were dying at the time? Probably not. We are not promised anything, except life with Jesus, if we accept Him as our Savior and live the Christian lifestyle. So, if things are not going right, stop and think who and what you are doing and listening to. And remember you’re not promised tomorrow in this old world. Confederate Riders 10 Year Anniversary Party By: Tinman Photo By: Chi Force On Saturday, January 21, 2017 Confederate Riders in Bladen County celebrated 10 years of many faces, 10 years of great times, and 10 years of Confederate Riders MC. Loose Floorboards started the day off and played like I have never heard them play before. When I say they brought their “A” game, I do mean that! They played beautifully. Black Swamp Hattie brought a huge crowd and rocked the house. And when I say rocked I mean all the way out to Highway 53 (around a mile away) you could hear them as plain as day; they rocked! They will be back very soon! Several Devils Band finished the night off and rocked the house just as loud and proud. It was all about the music and the club! an anniversary party. CRMC was ahead of the game on the celebration. The club was packed with supporters. Neighboring clubs stopped in, brought gifts, enjoyed the music and fellowship. We all just had an awesome night of celebration, brotherhood, and music, lots and lots of music. A very special thank you to Lawless for the plaque they presented us for the anniversary party. a long way just to be part of this celebration and we respect the dedication you showed to us. No matter the weather, no matter the miles, you were there! Thank you, my brothers! You are always welcomed in our home and our family. And as to the full house of new faces that showed us the honor and came to support us we say thank you! Each and every one of you are welcome to come back any time you want. Artist Ken McGraw came and did a few paintings while the bands played. This guy is a damn good artist and created paintings that really touched on the scene that night. All of you, need to check him out! To wrap up the party right, before Several Devils took the stage, Tinman awarded Mountain Man a very special award for 10 years of continuous service to the Confederate Riders along with a picture of him and his daughter, Amber. The picture will go behind the bar to remind us to celebrate each day! We all took some time to pay respects to our brothers that passed - Rebel, Lil Brother, Head On, and Scorpio. They were there with us in spirit! The party overall was a very tremendous success and it was thanks to these men and women who came to spend the day with us. Not only were bonds between clubs made stronger, but new friends were made. It’s not about a large crowd where we don’t know half of the people there; it’s a large crowd where we know each and every single person on a personal level. When you have over 200 faces and you know every one of them, you are blessed not just with friends, but people you proudly call family. That is the fellowship most tend to forget about, but we don’t! In that kind of fellowship is an honor, respect, and love you won’t get anywhere else. Last, we want to personally thank Chi Force for coming out to take pictures for The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. This is a wonderful woman we all know and love. She drove all the way from the Easy Riders Bike Show in Charlotte to come cover little ol us! This not only shows the dedication in her art and work, but also shows us just how much she loves us! You and your Ol Man are always very welcome at our house anytime! To all of you we say thank you, we love you, and this anniversary party would not be so special if it wasn’t for you! The only thing sad about the night was it had to end sometime. But hey, we all gotta sleep before we can go again. And the award for the last man standing goes to Mountain Man who, at 6 am the next morning, was still going strong. CMA Diaper Run

By: Wally Wersching I was invited to participate in the “Warriors For Christ” Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association’s (CMA) Diaper Run in Gaffney, SC on February 18th. The diapers would be delivered to the Cherokee Pregnancy Center in Gaffney. I had never heard about a “Diaper Run” before. I discussed it with a few non-biker friends, and they thought it might be for a bunch of old bikers who couldn’t hold it anymore. After some thought, we decided that type of run would be a “Depends Run” not a “Diaper Run”. The invitation said to meet at the Pilot gas station in Gaffney with the kickstands up at 11AM for the ride to the center. There also was a mention of a fifty-mile ride afterwards if the weather was good enough for a comfortable ride. I left home about 10AM because I know it takes about a half hour to get to the gas station. I’ve done business there before. When I arrived, there were only a few bikers standing around talking. I was welcomed, and started talking with a few of the men. As we talked, more and more bikers rode in, and parked. Some went inside to get breakfast but most just stood around sharing their adventures. Most were members of the CMA from chapters in the area but there were also people from other biker ministries, and there were a few, like me, that were not affiliated with any organization. Most of the bikes had diaper boxes strapped on the back. It looked different. The brightly colored diaper boxes clashed with the black biker image.

I met an ex-Navy man. He was also on a Destroyer but much newer than the WWII one I was on. It was interesting to talk with someone who went through similar experiences. After a few minutes, Roger, the president of the “Warriors For Christ” Chapter arrived. He drove his truck because it was loaded with diapers – donations from people he knew. I gave a copy of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine to a man and his daughter. He rode in on a Suzuki Burgman scooter. He was admiring “Miss Vickie” saying how beautiful she was. I’ll always talk with people who like her. As we were talking, I noticed a Victory motorcycle roll in. I had to walk over to talk with the couple who rode it in. To my surprise, he was retired from the Air Force, and originally came from the Chicagoland area – Lake Zurich, IL. He’s now teaching math and physics at a local Christian school. We’ve got a lot in common. I had to give him a copy of The

We were then asked to join around for the prayer, after which, the Road Captain took over, and described the route we would take to the center. It was only a few miles to the center. I stayed toward the rear of the group because I don’t like riding with a lot of people I don’t know. Within a few minutes, we were rolling in the lot behind the center. After we all parked, we were invited to bring the diapers into the building. A couple of the ladies who worked at the center welcomed us as we put our diapers on the large table. When we were through, the table was full of diapers, and other things a baby might need. The two ladies thanked us again and again for everything. They herded us all behind the table for a group picture. There were too many of us for a single photo so she took a panoramic video of us instead. It gave all of us a very warm feeling that we could help babies, and their mothers. We went back to the bikes where they were holding a “Bike Blessing” for anyone who wanted it. Many of the 32 bike owners opted for the blessing. I asked that “Miss Vickie” and I be blessed. It’s always good to have God on your side. After saying good-by, I headed back home. When I arrived, I talked Cindy into going out to the Italian Gardens restaurant in Boiling Springs, NC for my “Birthday Meal”. Yes, February 18th is my birthday. It has been for 73 years. Helping someone less fortunate was a great way to enjoy my birthday.

A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor’s dog, then bites the Governor. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie “Bambi” and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural. He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 for testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases. The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals. The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a “coyote awareness program” for residents of the area. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world. The Governor’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training for the nature of coyotes. PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.

Nazareth Children’s Home 1st Quarter Birthday Party By: Darby Dillard Saturday, March 4, was the start of our events at Nazareth Children’s Home for 2017. A group of about ten riders, eight bikes total met at Speedway HD and departed at 12:15 for the ride to Nazareth, in Rockwell, NC. At the Home, we were greeted by more volunteers and guests, plus the residents and staff from Nazareth. It is truly a blessing to give these young people some attention. We enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs thanks to Speedway HD and cake and ice cream provided by our “Rockwell Gang”. And to everyone that helps set up and cook...THANK YOU! We all know who really makes this party happen. The volunteers are the best! After we ate, we always like to recognize all of the children with birthdays in that particular quarter and then we (I) get to Still O

make a spectacle of ourselves by singing Happy Birthday to them. Then the children receive their gifts provided by all of the WONDERFUL people who brought the gifts. I truly ask you to seriously think about helping us with your presence and choosing of a gift from our wish list, and coming with us. The material gifts are very nice, but so is your presence at the home for the children. That means more than anything. And I ask you this, because the interest for the Birthday Parties isn’t the same as Christmas and these kids need to know they’re thought of throughout the year. And for our regulars, THANK YOU! CMA Annual Day Of Prayer By: Wally Wersching The Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA: www.cmausa.org) held their annual “Day of Prayer” throughout the country on Sunday, March 5th this year. Groups of Christian bikers got together to pray for everything they deemed requiring help. Locally, the “Warriors For Christ” Chapter of the CMA (www.WarriorsForChrist.net) met at the Cherokee County Veterans Appreciation Park in Gaffney, SC next to the Gaffney Military Museum at about 2 PM. Sunday’s weather was the best of the week with temps in the upper 50’s, and a cloudless, bright Carolina Blue sky. I arrived at the park about 1:30PM, and waited for the rest to arrive. The park, which was dedicated in 2010, has a beautiful display of monoliths with names of veterans along with little areas on each side for remembering. I started to walk around the memorial – it is such a beautiful place. I always like to read the names on the marble. Every monolith

is labeled with the branch of service, and its number in that branch. The names are arranged alphabetically so it’s easy to look up a specific name. There is also a list kept in the podium during the summer months. There are a couple beautiful statues in the park, too, along with musical rocks that play patriotic music. One statue is one that I have seen replicated many times. It is called the “Fallen Soldier Battle Cross” the one with the helmet on the rifle butt, and the boots. It’s very moving. The more I stood there looking at it the more it was talking to me. The other one is an eagle with an inscription on the base by Theodore Roosevelt. Too many people had to die for us to enjoy our freedom, and this park remembers them. At a few minutes before 2:00, a single rider rode in - a few minutes later another. Then a small group of bikers pulled in, and parked along the back wall by the pool building. In the group was Carolyn but she wasn’t on her old Sportster. She bought a Harley Trike. It looked new but it was a used one. She seemed very happy with it. A few minutes later, Rodger, (Carolyn’s husband and the President of the chapter) rode in on another strange bike. He bought a very new looking 2000 Harley full-dresser with very low mileage. It looked like he went back in time to buy a new 2000 Harley. Everybody started to tease both Carolyn and Rodger about being “Money-Bags”. They explained that they got very good deals on both. It seems like used Harleys are selling for very little cash right now. The group might not all be CMA members but most belonged to a Christian Biker Ministry of some kind. Many churches have a group who ride motorcycles together. Some have identifying colors on the backs of their vests but some are just friends.

Everybody got acquainted. I shared some of my Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazines with them. Then, Rodger talked about how they will all get in a circle on the Veterans Monument to pray. After they walked to the flags, everybody held hands, and each person in turn said a prayer for something special to them. Their goal is to spread the word, and increase the group size every year. Next year, mark your calendars for the first Sunday in March. We’ll meet again at the memorial park about 2:00PM. See you there!

2017 Burlington L.O.H. Chili Cook Off

By: Scott Wicker As in years past, an enthusiastic crowd looking to get great chili at Down Home Harley-Davidson in Burlington came out on Saturday, March 4th to show support for the Burlington Ladies Of Harley Annual Chili Cook Off. As in previous years, each of the participants served an ample portion of chili to those in attendance that made a donation to benefit the Burlington Ladies Of Harley. Also, baked goods were available making this very popular event successful as usual. Several varieties of chili were served, giving a variety of different flavors to this year’s event. All 13 contestants served up some great chili making it difficult to pick whose was the best. When all was said and done and over 60 votes were counted, Myra Crawford was declared the winner and was named the 2017 Burlington L.O.H. “Chili Bean Queen”. This was the fifth year in a row that Myra has won. Myra also received a beautiful trophy and a $50 cash prize for her winning recipe. Myra will also represent the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter and the Burlington L.O.H. at the 31st Annual Bike Show and Chili Cook-Off to be held at Raging Bull Harley-Davidson in Durham, NC on

Saturday, April 8th where several of the State’s H.O.G. Chapters will bring their best entrants to compete for H.O.G. Club bragging rights!
