W
ell, we made it through January. It seems as if it is always somewhat of a challenge and this year was no exception. Winter storm Jonas hit the day before the EasyRiders Bike Show in Charlotte and was responsible for making travel risky to impossible and impacting the attendance of the first big event of the year. Sometimes there is winter weather at the time of this event, but I cannot remember it being this harsh. I hate it, but who can control the weather? As far as we are concerned, February marks the beginning of riding season in the Carolinas and The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar is filling up rapidly. February brings The 18th Attempt, Almost a tradition, Pre-Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party and Oyster Roast to the forefront as the Carolinas’ first (and biggest) biker party of the year. This year the FOF Party will be held on February 13th from 12 – 6pm at Rider’s In The Country at 5701 Randleman Road, about 10 miles south of Harley-Davidson of Greensboro. I cannot guarantee that weather will be great, but sometimes it is. What I can guarantee is that someone will leave there with a 55” flat screen TV to watch the Daytona 500 on the next weekend. We will also raffle off a diamond heart pendant (provided by Hayes Jewelers of Lexington) to help someone celebrate Valentine’s Day. Raffle tickets are 2 for $5 and there are special prices for multiple ticket purchases. There will also be FREE oysters (sponsored by Karney Law Firm) and FREE chicken wings (courtesy of Harley-Davidson of Greensboro) grilled by Tim Nall of A & M Crane Service. If you are not into that, George Rider will make hot dog and hamburger plates available. Rider’s In The Country has all ABC permits and I am sure that George will have some special drink pricing for the event. Admission is FREE and Fair Warning will be playing all day, so come out and kick off the riding season with The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. The FOF souvenir event t-shirts will be for sale for $15 and the deal of the day is a t-shirt and 5 raffle tickets for $20! As with all biker events, It Ain’t For Everybody, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE UNDER 21. It is going to be a large time so plan to be at Rider’s In The Country on February 13th for The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine 18th Attempt, Almost A Tradition, Pre-Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party and Oyster Roast. There are several motels nearby so you can party Full Throttle and not have to worry about driving home afterwards. If you would like to have your business highlighted at our event or for general information, call 336-885-5400

5th Annual Polar Bear Ride By: Bill Gallaway Star Touring and Riding Chapter 352 out of Greenville, SC kept up the tradition of riding on the 1st day of the new year. It’s called the Polar Bear Ride because it’s supposed to be cold. This year, the past few weeks have seemed more like spring than winter, with temperatures in the 70’s. The ride this year was a bit cooler with temps in the 50’s as riders left the starting location in Powdersville, SC and headed to Abbeville, SC. There were 21 riders on 15 bikes and one cage that rode a little over an hour and ended up at Milano’s Greek & Italian restaurant for a fabulous lunch. The group enjoyed the fellowship and food on the 1st ride of 2016. Chapter 352 in Greenville, SC, a fun, family oriented motorcycle organization, is nearing its 10-year anniversary, and we are proud to say that we continue to grow and work to aid the surrounding communities of the Upstate. You can learn more about Star
Touring and Riding Chapter 352 by visiting www.StarChapter352.com. All makes of motorcycles are welcome. We hope that you check us out and come ride with us.

Benefit For Bryce By: Kickstart & Donut January 16, 2016 was a beautiful day for friends and local supporters to come to Pam’s Front Porch in Columbia, SC for a barbeque dinner and bake sale to help support a little boy in need. Bryce was born on May 16, 2014. At the age of 18 months doctors discovered a type of cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a soft tissue cancer. Friends decided to put this fundraiser together to help cover all the expenses involved from traveling to medical bills. Right now Bryce is doing OK, but he has a bumpy road ahead of him for the next several months. Bryce has 42 weeks of chemo ahead of him, and surgery in March of this year to remove much of the tumor as possible. Lauren Hall and David Hornsby, Jr., Bryce’s mother and father, wanted to thank everyone that made this day a blessing and words cannot say enough. Special thanks goes out to Sandra Campbell, Jackie Mathews, and Pamela Jackson who made this possible. Lots of donations were made and prizes were donated to help raise funds. An autographed picture from Sheldon Brown, corn hole game, gift certificates and many more things were among the items donated. Because there are only a few places that can perform the special treatment Bryce needs, the family will be moving to

By: Wally Wersching My mother used to send me articles from the Daily Herald, her local paper. They were mostly about motorcycling, and by Ken Glassman, an accomplished writer. In one she sent, Ken wrote about a motorcycle accident that he saw. He described it in great detail, not graphically about the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist, but what he saw before the accident, and how it should never have happened if the rider wouldn’t have been in such a hurry. I did some soul searching. I ride in a hurry a lot of the time, and shouldn’t. I hurry to get back to take Cindy out to lunch, and don’t want to keep her waiting. I used to hurry home to let the dog out after work. Sometimes, I’m in a hurry to get home before the storm hits so I don’t get soaked. It’s not a good idea to be that way. Being in a hurry is a state of mind not the speed I’m traveling. If I am speeding, I’m not necessarily in a hurry. Sometimes I just enjoy going fast! Sometimes I also catch myself making stupid moves putting myself in an unsafe situation. Luckily, for the most part, I’ve been able to avoid an accident except for last May when I was hurrying home after getting soaked in a cloudburst. I went around a turn too fast, and the bike wound up in the ditch. I received six broken ribs, and was very lucky I didn’t get hurt much worse. The memory of the accident will stay with me for a long time. I will definitely not be in a hurry again. At times, I also push myself when I’m tired and fatigued. I don’t stop and relax. I keep going. The two other times when I dropped my bike was because of that. I was going too fast in a turn, and tried to stop. Both times, there was minimal damage to the bike, and I wasn’t hurt. But if I had stopped sooner to relax, I probably wouldn’t have dropped the bike. The only time I was in an accident with another vehicle, I was in a hurry. I passed a car when the double yellow line was in the road, and he turned left in front of me. I didn’t see his directional when I went around him. That was over twentyfive years ago but it could happen again if I continue riding the way I do. Today when I get on my bike to ride home and from now on, I’m not going to be in a hurry – no matter what! I might be a little late, but I’ll get there in one piece. The ride should be more enjoyable, too. This philosophy applies to all kinds of things. Being in a hurry gets your pulse and blood pressure up. It hinders your judgment, and increases the chances of making poor decisions. I wonder how many accidents could have been avoided if the drivers involved weren’t in a hurry.

Chambers For Hope Battle Of The Bands 2015 By: Denise Mercado On November 14, 2015, thanks to Denise Mercado, Chambers For Hope held a Battle of the Bands benefit at The Rock Shop in Fayetteville, NC for individuals on the HBOT waiting list. Classic Rock and Southern Rock was the genre for this event. Four local bands including The Several Devils Band, Spank, Open Road, and The Brickyard Road Band competed for $1/vote from those in attendance. The winner of this fun event was The Brickyard Road Band. The amazing talent of these four bands has inspired Chambers For Hope to build on the success of this event and create a similar event in the Spring/Summer of 2016. Chambers For Hope is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that provides grants to veterans, first responders, children, and other adults in need of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). The Chambers For Hope Network consists of hyperbaric clinics in several states including North Carolina and South Carolina.
South Lake Liquor
1123 South Lake Dr. Lexington, SC 803-359-7514
HBOT is an essential tool in the recovery of veterans with traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress, and many other combat related injuries. HBOT is also used internationally and in clinics within the Chambers For Hope Network for conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, MS, Lyme’s disease, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and much more. Fayetteville Hyperbarics is a North Carolina clinic in the Chambers For Hope Network located minutes from Fort Bragg, NC. Since it’s opening in 2013, Fayetteville Hyperbarics has provided HBOT to Green Beret Veterans through funding from the Green Beret Foundation. Funding from Chambers For Hope provides HBOT to all other Veterans with good results. Military medicine provides our Veterans with an extensive list of medications that don’t seem to help any of the issues. HBOT brings back quality of life! Results include no more headaches and migraines, reduction in medication, better sleep patterns, increased cognitive abilities and much more. In addition, Fayetteville Hyperbarics through funding from Chambers For Hope provides HBOT to children with autism and other developmental issues as well as adults with a variety of conditions including MS, Lyme’s disease, neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease, and much more. Because HBOT is not yet approved by the FDA, VA or DoD for the conditions noted above, fundraising efforts are essential to ensure all those that need HBOT receive it in a timely manner. For more information about Chambers For Hope and the 2016 Classic Rock benefit visit their website at: www.ChambersForHope.org. Watch The Carolina’s Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for future events for Chambers For Hope.

Windjammers 27th Annual Toy Run
By: Wally Wersching On Saturday, December 19th, the Windjammers Motorcycle Club held their 27th Annual Toy Run for the Cleveland County Children’s Homes. There was a real air of anticipation. Everyone in the area looks forward to the Windjammers Toy Run. It’s a time to meet old friends, and to make new ones, too. The week before the run, it was warm with temps in the lower 70’s. That would be great for the Toy Run, as it would bring out the “fair weather riders”. It rained heavy on Thursday, and a cold front came through. The temps on Saturday were only going to be in the 40’s, which is normal for this time of year, and a winter Toy Run. Everyone could show off their winter leathers, and warm clothes. The Windjammer’s toy run experience consists of breakfast starting at 7:30AM at the clubhouse with lots of coffee, donuts, homemade sausage, and liver mush biscuits. The gathering is at the Cleveland Mall in Shelby. The run goes to one of the Cleveland County Homes – Aaron’s House west of Shelby. Afterwards, it’s back to the clubhouse for free BBQ and fixin’s. Each year’s toy run begins with the “all-night” cooking of the BBQ. This year “Hangman” (the club President) stayed up all night to cook the 40 pork butts. That should be more than
enough to feed all the bikers returning to the clubhouse after the run. About 11:30AM, the bikes, and military trucks start congregating at the Cleveland Mall. As it got closer to 1:00 PM, the large parking lot slowly filled with bikers. It’s always a lot of fun. Many old friends were there shaking hands, and hugging each other in friendly greetings. Many only see each other during Toy Runs. There were many clubs, and Biker Ministries represented at the run. All brought toys strapped to their bikes. Some were in costume, and others had their bikes decorated in the Christmas spirit. At exactly 1:00PM, the command to fire-‘em-up goes out, and the parade starts heading toward the Court Square, the heart of Shelby, with a police escort. Once it starts, there are motorcycles as far as the eye can see, and the roar is almost deafening as they pass. At Aaron’s House, it was a very festive event. Some of the people who brought a gift into the home had tears in their eyes. Everybody had a smile on their face especially when Miss Margie thanked them as they walked in. It’s always a pleasure to be part of any Toy Run especially the Windjammers’ because we get to meet the children. This year every biker got a Thank-You poem, and a candy-cane from the children for bringing the gifts. After the toys were dropped off, many of the bikers quickly left to get an early start on the BBQ at the clubhouse but most continued to mingle on the front lawn as though they didn’t want it to end. The toy run actually starts for the Windjammers the day after last year’s toy run. The club members work all year so that the next toy run will be the best ever. It’s all worth it to know that there will be toys for the children on Christmas Day. Ever since the 1992 Toy Run, the Windjammers’ Toy Runs have given over $500,000 to the Children’s Homes of Cleveland County, which has been used to give the children a more normal life. This year’s run was a relatively good one with an estimated 400 bikes, despite the cold weather.

By: Trisha Beasley The 4th Annual Food Drive was sponsored at the new clubhouse of Southern Riders Motorcycle Club, Sampson County. The club collected donations, a ton of can goods, and held a pool tournament. The day turned out to be a day of celebration, brotherhood, charity, and a whole lot of fun! It was an open house event and riders attended from several Southern Riders Chapters, other motorcycle clubs, and independent riders. Southern Riders presented all donations and can goods to the Sampson County Veteran’s Council. These funds, donations, and can goods are used to help families that have fallen on hard time and to provide food and shelter for homeless veterans. I was informed that this will continue to be an annual event, mainly because of the gift of giving back to those “Brave and Honorable Veterans” that have given so much for us and our country. They are often overlooked and under-represented, which is heartbreaking. Yet and still, we all continue to see this lack of support for these honorable veterans. It is truly a sad day in the land when you see the ongoing lack of respect and resources available to our veterans, a cause worthy of all of our support! Southern Riders MC, Sampson County expressed their respect by paying it forward and showing that they will never forget “Our Veterans” that sacrificed so much for our nation. May we ALL remember and never forget what these Veterans deserve, which includes honor, respect, and support!

A One Cylinder, Two Stroke, Three Speed, Four Horsepower Barrel Of Freedom By: Ron Climer From 1948 until 1966 Harley-Davidson manufactured a small lightweight motorcycle. It was a one cylinder, two stroke, three speed, four horsepower barrel of fun and freedom for the new, young rider. My first motorcycle was a 1959 HarleyDavidson Hummer. Starting in 1948, Harley-Davidson made a model called the “125”. At the Willy G exhibit at the Harley-Davidson museum, last summer, they had Willy G’s first bike, a 1948 model “125”. It featured a one hundred and twenty five cubic centimeters with a rubber band suspension on the front forks. After the “125”, Harley introduced the “165” with Tele Glide suspension. WOW! In 1955, Harley introduced the HarleyDavidson HUMMER. They named it after Dean Hummer, a Harley-Davidson dealer in Nebraska. His dealership sold more “lightweights” than any other dealer in America. His dealership was in the same town as the Cushman factory. Tell that story to your whining sales staff. Can you imagine the president of Harley-Davidson calling you up and inviting you to the home office and telling you they are naming a motorcycle after you? Hummers lasted until 1959. Harley introduced the Super 10. Ten cubic inches of Go Power! Speeds have been reported up to 55 miles per hour. Super 10 were built in 1960 and 1961. Harley-Davidson changed the name from Hummer. The general public did not get the memo. Most people today call
all of these lightweight bikes built between 1948 and 1966 Hummers. After the Super 10 came the Ranger, the Pacer, the Scat, and the Bobcat. Harley-Davidson discontinued these lightweight bikes in 1966. What a shame! You could not find a better bike for a young person to learn to ride. Hummers have a low center of gravity. If you have ever been to a “Wall of Death” type show where they ride motorcycles in a big barrel, those dare devils love Hummers. Here is the thing that amazes me. I meet people all the time that are Harley-Davidson aficionados and experts that have never heard of or seen a Hummer.

23rd Annual Brunswick County Toy Run By: Jerome Munna The 23rd Annual Brunswick County Toy Run was a success with 116 motorcycles and 60 classic cars participating. We had registration at Walmart in Shallotte, NC then started our poker run with Brunswick County Sheriff Office escorting us for 50 miles. We went to Brunswick Island Baptist Church fellowship hall, where they fed 250 of us for lunch and we gave away lots of registration prizes as well as best poker hand $100 and worst hand $25. When we finished lunch we all rolled back to Walmart where we had over 125 children, selected by Brunswick Family Assistance, waiting to be escorted by the bikers and car folks individually through the store to select $125 worth of clothes and toys. We shopped for one to two hours. Our final bill was just under $16,000. Everyone left happy with the spirit of Christmas. We will be giving away a couple of college scholarships this spring as well. The winner of the golf cart and trailer was Linda McLamb of Calabash. When we first started this charity we raffled Holiday Barbie Dolls for the first few years to raise money. Then we gradually stepped up to raffling 8 new Harley-Davidson motorcycles from Cape Fear Harley in Fayetteville, NC. A-1 Hitch & Trailer Sales in Supply, NC has donated 15 trailers to our charity to be raffled off. We have also raffled off 2 riding lawn mowers as well. This year is our first golf cart and trailer to raffle and it was a success and will do it again for this year. We are making bigger plans for our 25th anniversary, so stand by and watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for more info in the future.
As of this date we have provided Christmas for over 2,500 children and helped elderly with electricity needs. We have given over $30,000 in college scholarships. I want to thank all that bought ads on the back of event Tshirts, bought raffle tickets, and those that participated in the actual poker run.

In honor of Floyd Byrd Piatt It’s not a lifestyle, it’s a way of life, a way to combat the clutches of strife! Harken the bell that dangles beneath my steed as its hooves pound across the pave; it preserves my life from the depths of the darkest souls of the grave! I and my steed of molten steel gather in a cavalcade of fellow cavaliers; together we combat the burden of our arrears. The stories of our lives are painted upon our bodies yet the colors do not run; scars are bright and white beneath the sun. In the deepest recesses of the city, we fear no evil; we are feared; Beers and brews we pound, by no crowd are we steered. Concepts and precepts, metered out in steel, fine-tuned instruments, men-at-wheel. Our clan is legion: braided locks hang from skulls and chins, kilts we trade for chaps, feet and bodies clad in skins. More love in the share of saddle, than in the marriage bed; more life in freedom; than when chained, dead. Trail of intimidation, but soft at heart; to the meek we are mild, though from the weak, we stand apart. Colors we fly high with pride, and our souls soar; to the crowds that jovial cry, for respect all the more. Bridles and bits, our straight pipes are loud: we rouse our attack; Grace in our high notes, tears cleanse the crowd. On our backs, wings with which we signal our freedom to fly; we are free souls, unburdened, ready to die. Anarchical sons? Au contraire! Stand we in light of righteousness, what is truthful and fair! Born to ride, born free; all our faults, all our rights, for all to see. Pat on my skull, to keep your wits about you! Pegs down, pegs down, brothers and sisters for the fallen, too! Come what come may, ready and prepare; fellow cavaliers, defenders of freedom are there. © Amanda Piatt

Ray Price Motorsports Racing Team Announces Retirement
Leaves 48 Year Legacy of Blistering Drag Strip By: Scott Misner The motorcycle drag strip dominated by the Ray Price Motorsports Racing Team will go quiet with the official announcement January 5th of the team’s retirement. Ray Price Racing won back-toback championships in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Harley-Davidson Top Fuel Drag Racing Series for 2014 and 2015. “The Ray Price name has been synonymous with motorcycle drag racing in the NHRA and IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) for nearly half a century. The team has a long history of remarkable racing accomplishments, which enables us to feel a great sense of pride with today’s announcement of the retirement of the Ray Price Motorsports Racing Team from competitive drag racing,” said Mark Hendrix, General Manager of Ray Price, Inc. The recent passing of drag racing legend Ray Price played a part in the decision to retire the team. Price passed away December 16th at age 78. Up to that point, he had been very active with his Harley-Davidson and Triumph dealerships, as well as the motorcycle drag racing team. Price was best known for his success on the drag racing track as well as his innovation in the garage. He designed the first wheelie bar for motorcycles, allowing more power to the rear wheel while decreasing incidences of flipping a bike. He was also instrumental in creating the current style of two-speed racing transmission and helped to fuel the popularity of motorcycle drag racing with the IHRA and NHRA. Thanks to dominating performances by racer Tommy Grimes and the team, Ray Price Racing clinched backto-back NHRA Harley-Davidson Top Fuel Drag Racing Championships in 2014 and 2015. Grimes drove the1,000horsepower, Akea/Ray Price nitro Harley and won the coveted Wally Trophy, named for NHRA founder Wally Parks. “Over the years, everyone worked extremely hard and
built many great friendships with sponsors, fans, and competitor teams,” said Hendrix. “Winning championships is not possible without the commitment from a great team of sponsors and the finest technicians in the business, including racer Tommy Grimes, engine builder Justin Heinle, crew chief Jeremy Hoy, and team manager Mark Morgan. Everyone deserves recognition for the team accomplishments over the years, and yet the friendships and camaraderie across the sport, with all the memories, is what we celebrate the most.” The Ray Price Motorsports Racing Team has competed in MAMA, AMDRA, IDBA, NMRA, Dragbike USA, AHDRA, AMRA, IHRA, NHRA, AMA Dragbike, and Manufacturers Cup Racing. The NHRA Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Drag Racing Series competes at tracks across the country and holds at least one race in each of the seven NHRA divisions. Most events take place in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series as well as four NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tracks. The Top Fuel Harley-Davidson is a highly modified motorcycle that can run the quarter-mile in under 6.8 seconds at well over 200 mph. Confederate Riders Annual Celebration Party Photo By: Chi Force
By: Trisha Beasley The Annual Confederate Riders Motorcycle Club party was held October 24th at The Redneck Yacht Club on Dunn Road in Fayetteville, NC. The celebration was to commemorate the Confederate Riders Motorcycle Club, Sandhills Chapter as well as many other club members that have support the Confederate Riders in their endeavors throughout the year. The day events included the arrival of around two hundred people that attended the party throughout the day. Door prizes were donated from around thirteen local businesses. The club provided the food and cooking of a hundred pound pig, four Boston butts, a hundred burgers and hot dogs, and of course, all the fixing you could ask for. It was a great turn out and a wonderful celebration of a good year for all clubs. All the fun was actively going on while listening to the sounds of an awesome band, The Bob Steele Band. These efforts to give thanks for brotherhood of all clubs that have taken part and assisted with the generous efforts of riding for great causes, supporting other riders in need, and last but not least, the camaraderie of brotherhood. It was requested that
I certainly include that this event was to say “THANK YOU” to the local motorcycle community for all of their support that Confederate Riders have received this year. The gratitude to the other clubs for letting them attend their events of charitable work as well as their attendance to our own. These riders show and actively take part in the hard work that is needed and required for the assistance of others. Some benefactors are riders and others are children and general population citizens that are in need of assistance. We often find that some of the greatest needs for members of our working society do not get the help that they need to mend from an accident, recover from a house fire, receive medication for their medical conditions, and the list could certainly go on. However, some of our hard working, dedicated, and extraordinary everyday people do find some solace and help from biker organizations such as The Confederate Motorcycle Club, Sandhills Chapter. Bikers seem to give so much more than they are given credit for, which was one of the main reasons for this annual party at The Redneck Yacht Club. Honor, Loyalty, and Respect for those that give of themselves without hesitation or recognition. So here’s a “Salute to You All!” A humble party where everyone was invited to take part in the festivities and celebration of riding, helping those in need, and showing brotherhood regardless of the patches on each other’s backs. It honored all that have given of themselves and their clubs without asking anything in return! Hero’s, that is what I call people that help people! It was an honor to be in the presence of so many heroes under the same roof. I certainly look forward to future celebrations with such honorable men and women that ride to live, live to ride, and ride to help others in need.

Story and photo by Alan Dockery What a beautiful day the Saturday before Thanksgiving was at Riders’ Roost Motorcycle Resort in Ferguson, NC. It was a great day to gather with friends for a big supper at this very cool place where we spend summer weekends partying, swimming, riding, and just relaxing around the campfire. “We would like to thank everyone who came out for the Roost Family Thanksgiving Gathering and for making the 25th Anniversary season one of the best years in Roost history,” said owners Dave and Pam Lucas. “During the 2015
season we celebrated 25 years of Roostin’, had the pleasure of meeting new Roosters, we missed the friends and family that were unable to visit due to health, financial situations, or just plain life issues and sadden hearts for the loved ones we lost. Through it all, we are truly blessed to be a part of such an awesome Roost Family. We are expecting the 2016 season to be even better.”

KARAOKE ON FRIDAY NIGHTS With Jerry Carr
536 Farragut St, Greensboro, NC Next Door To Greensboro Harley-Davidson
By: Big Grant On December 15th 1995 I took possession of my first New Harley-Davidson. A two tone red 1996 Fat Boy. I had placed an order in October of 1994 at Tilley Harley-Davidson of Statesville, North Carolina. You got to remember this was the Harley-Davidson hay day. There were no bikes on showroom floors other than a couple Sportsters and they were hard to find. At that time many dealerships kept a running list of orders. The one I had ordered had not came in yet, but this beauty came in and the guy was not ready with the funds so salesman Todd Hall went on his list to next customer and asked did they want it. I did! I ended up putting over 39,000 miles on that Fat Boy over the next 4 years. It was a great machine. Along with the new bike came a Harley Owners Group membership. I did not realize what that meant or what would be in store for my wife and me over the next 20 years. I drifted from a few chapters meetings until Tilley opened their dealership in Salisbury, North Carolina. I found a home quickly. I missed the very first meeting, but I think I may have missed 10 in the last 15 years. It’s about more than bikes, it’s finding friends who can have differences (North/South, Democrat/Republican) and still enjoy each other’s company. HOG opened a new world to us of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Riding, of course eating, and fun events for all of us and even for some the grand kids. I love what HOG has done for us as a family. My wife and I have made so many friends. If you are looking for likeminded individuals to ride/eat/ laugh with and at, find a chapter and become involved with them. Volunteer to lead a ride to your favorite hangout. If that chapter doesn’t work for you, seek out another until you find what makes you happy. It’s been a hell of a ride for us. 20 years of never saying “what if”. We know what’s on the other side of that mountain. We have already been there on our Harley-Davidson with our HOG family.

ABATE of South Carolina Hosts Lobby Day 2016
By: Chad Fuller On January 12, 2016, ABATE of South Carolina hosted its annual Lobby Day. Motorcyclists from across the state met at the Carolina Ale House in Columbia, SC around 8:00 AM. Once they arrived, participants were treated to a fully catered breakfast and a presentation outlining the proposed legislative bills and goals for the organization. Upon conclusion of the breakfast and presentation, a shuttle was provided by Carolina Honda Powerhouse to shuttle participants to the State House. During their time at the State House, participants met with house representatives and senators educating them regarding ABATE’s legislative goals for the upcoming session. These bills included both the new permit bill and the motorcycle lemon law bill, that ABATE of South Carolina authored last year. Many legislators agreed to support and sponsor these bills. As the legislature began the 2016 session, leather-clad bikers could be seen lining the balconies of the State House reminding those on the voting floor that all motorcyclists are watching. When the legislature convened, the participants where shuttled back to Carolina Ale House for a fully catered lunch
and awards ceremony provided for by Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group. ABATE of South Carolina would like to sincerely thank those that participated in making this event such a success. Because of your time and dedication, we are confident that we will achieve our legislative goals for this year. Or those that did not attend this year, we hope you will join us next year. Remember our freedom is not free, nor is it to be taken for granted.

His Laboring Few Biker Ministry Of Jesus Christ, Bladen County Chapter, Toy Run
Photo: Chi Force
By: Trisha Beasley On December 13, 2015, His Laboring Few Biker Ministry Of Jesus Christ, Bladen County Chapter, completed their first independent toy run. The ride was very successful and exceeded the expectations of all involved. The ministry was able to raise over $800 as well as a superb amount of toys. The success of the toy run and donations were well received and attributed to God. His Laboring Few was able to assist six families, eight children as well as one elderly female. The ride began at Wal-Mart in Elizabethtown. The bounty was good with 43 bikes with a total of 55 including riders. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day for a ride. Following registration, the group took a 45-minute ride around Bladen County. The ride ended at Open Doors Ministry on Hwy 87, where everyone was greeted with food and fellowship. The tree was loaded with gifts and everyone was all smiles. His Laboring Few had a great turn out for the event. It was one of those feel good rides. The kind you always look forward to having again. They are certainly looking forward to the 2nd Annual next year and there is talk that there will be another charity ride in the spring. Look for future events in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar! His Laboring Few Biker Ministry Of Jesus Christ, Bladen County Chapter would like to “Thank” everyone that supported the ride! God Bless!

By: Wally Wersching I ride all year round. I used to ride to work (the long way) almost every day when it was in the 20’s or even colder if it was going to warm up in the afternoon. Since I retired, I don’t ride much when it’s colder than 30º F. I get chilled easier now, and it takes longer for me to warm up again. That’s the price of getting old. I have some specially designed cold weather riding gear, and I also use the old reliable thermal long johns. I have a pair of electric heated gloves along with an electric vest. They work great, but I have wires through my sleeves for the gloves, and out the bottom of my jacket that plug into the bike’s battery. I don’t use them much unless I’m going on a long trip, and it’s in the 30’s. My other cold weather gear consists of a good leather jacket, gauntlet type winter gloves, and chaps (if it’s below 40, I wear a pair of insulated bibs). The object of keeping warm is to keep the wind out. Every year, I oil all my leather apparel including my gloves. The oil closes the leather’s pores and small cracks, and seals it from the wind (and water). I use mink oil but there are other oils that will do the same thing. When it’s not too cold, I use a kerchief tied around my neck to keep the wind from going down my neck. When it’s real cold, I wear a “Dickie”. A “Dickie” is a turtleneck sweater without the rest of the sweater. It keeps my neck warm, and can be pulled up under my helmet - over my chin. I don’t know if they make them anymore. There are many other cold weather face and neck warmers that are available. The “Dickie” works fine for me. Another tip is to dress in layers. When it’s in the 30’s, I’ll wear the thermal underwear, flannel shirt, and sweatshirt under my leather jacket. If it gets warmer later in the day, I can always take off the sweatshirt and/or the flannel shirt, and ride comfortably with just the leather jacket. If I feel my fingers getting numb or that shaking chill in my chest, I pull over, and stop for a while to get warm. As hypothermia sets in, my reflexes are slowed, and judgment is impaired. Stopping is a must at this point. There’s always a fast food place that can be used to warm up, and get a hot cup of something. After a few minutes, I’m ready for the road again. While riding in cold weather, always be aware of the shadows on the road. The sun doesn’t shine there, and there might be moisture or ice on the road (Black Ice). That’s why I stay away from the mountains in the winter. Cold weather riding can be fun if you dress for it. Try it – you might like it!

Red Stone Motorcycle Ministries By: Rev. Dooley In December 2011, founders David and MaryLu Dooley decided to put together and incorporate Red Stone Ministries in Lexington, SC. They started out with 6 members and are still growing today. Red Stone supports many friends and families in need. Each year they do the Camp Wonder Hands where they, along with about 30-40 other motorcyclists, take hearing impaired children on a mile and a half ride around the camp. If there is an emergency for friends, family, or anyone in need, Red Stone is on call 24/7. Red Stone holds biker church every 1st and 3rd Sunday with fellowship starting at 9 am, and church starts at 10 am. Most of the activities, including baptisms are held at Dooley’s house. The address is posted on their Facebook page @ Red Stone MM. You can also learn more about Red Stone Ministries by visiting RedStoneMinistries.org. Rev. flew a three piece patch for about 25 years with several different local M/Cs. He got saved in April of 98 and for several years he felt like God wanted him in a motorcycles ministry. Rev’s reply was, “But God, I don’t own a motorcycle.” So he asked the Lord, “Where do I go now?” The Lord told him, “I am going to put you back right where I just took you out of.” So Rev. stopped by one of the local bike shops and purchased a motorcycle and began his journey to help spread the Good News and that Good News is that “Jesus loves each and everyone of you that’s reading this article enough to die for you and His heart’s desire is for you to spend eternity with
Him.” The ONLY thing keeping you away from Him is YOU. He’s waiting on you to call out to him. David is also an SC ABATE member and was the Mid-State Coordinator back in June of 1980 when Governor Dick Riley signed the Helmet Law Amendment into law. And on a special note, just remember when you see Rev. David Dooley, you see the assistant pastor CHRIS aka The Chick Magnet! BLESSINGS REV. DOOLEY

Bikers For Trump Ride The Strand By: Everette “EZ” Short Back in December, Don Hess and Alan Flores told me they were looking to “Up the Ante” for the 2016 election. We had all been to Donald Trump’s Rally On November 24th at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and they were talking about creating a “Bikers For Trump” event for the next time he came back. It turns out that Mr. Trump had an upcoming appearance scheduled at The Springmaid Pier on January 16th for the Tea Party Rally and Tour of South Carolina. That’s when the minds of Koolaids Kustoms went to work. First, they fired up their interweb genius and designed a “Bikers for Trump” Facebook event. Now Koolaids Kustoms is not a ginormous Harley shop, but they are big on creating uniquely custom and affordable motorcycles from within a small shop space in Surfside, South Carolina. So imagine their surprise when more than 24,000 enthusiastic supporters greeted them, responding via Facebook the very next morning. Don Hess even rode over to Trump headquarters to get some yard signs and an official “OK, DO IT!” from the big cheese. It tuned out that Teresa UnRue and Gerri McDaniel are in charge of the Trump campaign in this area and they seemed pretty excited about the idea. With the nod of approval, the team went directly to Dawn Flores for shirts and Schwag at “Shorty’s Swag Shop”, also located in Surfside. By the time Saturday rolled around, Don and the crew found themselves surrounded by bikes and media vans awaiting them to tell the story of this homegrown political attempt to promote awareness and action for the 2016 Presidential campaign. From their shop, these political misfits rode down to Suck, Bang, Blow, to catch a few interviews

with TV and radio celebrity personalities from our own local WMBF News and then some even flew in from a station in New York that had sent their political coverage personalities for the event. After some hobnobbing with the media and attempting to act like normal, civilized, voting citizens, their crew of over 100 riders saddled up like Vikings on a quest to make their way to The Springmaid Pier. You have to understand that this group of unruly motorcycle mobsters were fueled by the fact that the “Actual” Tea Party Rally tickets were running $75 each and that’s enough money to buy a lot of local influence with gas, beer and actual votes. So, our band of hooligans wore their “Official Donald Trump Red Tie Tee Shirt” schwag and stood at the entrance yelling “TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!” just in time to see the man himself ride by and actually slow down to make eye contact, while mouthing “THANK YOU” to everyone. It was a job well done folks and some of them even hung out for hours after the event to see Trump and the rest of the Presidential hopefuls drive out at the end of the day. All of this is pointless, if you don’t get up, register to vote, and THEN VOTE! So VOTE or be willing to live with the consequences for years to come. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!
Little Thelma comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine’s Day. “Since Valentine’s Day is for a Christian saint and we’re Jewish,” she asks, “Will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine?” Thelma’s father thinks a bit then says, “No, I don’t think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?” “The whole ISIS group,” she says. “Why them,” her father asks in shock? “Well,” she says, “I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give them a valentine, they might start to think that maybe we’re not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. And if other kids saw what I did and then they sent valentines to them, they’d love everyone a lot. And then they’d start going all over the place telling everyone how much they loved them and how they didn’t hate anyone anymore.” Her father’s heart swells and he looks at his daughter with newfound pride. “Thelma, that’s the most wonderful thing I’ve ever heard.” “I know,” Thelma says, “and once that gets them out in the open, the Marines could blow the $h!t out of them.”
nessee license?” The hillbilly reached into his wallet and produced a Tennessee license. The warden then reached over and picked up the third duck, sniffed its butt, and said This ain’t no Tennessee duck. This here duck’s from Virginia. You got a Virginia. huntin’ license?” Again the hillbilly reached into his wallet and brought out a Virginia hunting license. The game warden was extremely frustrated at this point, and he yelled at the hillbilly “Just where the hell are you from?” “The hillbilly turned around, bent over, dropped his pants, and said, “You tell me, you’re the expert!!”
shocked! “You asked your neighbor?” Bob replied, “Yep, none of us could get that damn jar open.” His name was Bubba, he was from Texas and he needed a loan, so he walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the Loan Officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris for an International Redneck Festival for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000, and that he was not a depositor of the bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Redneck handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank. The Redneck produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge 12% interest. Later, the bank’s president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Redneck from the Texas for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank’s private underground garage and parked it. Two weeks later, the Redneck returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of 23.07. The loan officer said, “Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out on Dunn & Bradstreet and found that you are a distinguished alumni from Texas A & M, a highly sophisticated investor and multi-millionaire with real estate and financial interests all over the world. Your investments include a large number of wind turbines around Sweetwater, Texas. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?” The good ‘ole boy replied, “Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I return?”

An old guy was working out at the gym when he spotted a young hot girl walking in. He asked the trainer standing next to him, “What machine should I use to impress that girl over there?” The trainer looked him up and down and said; “I would recommend the ATM in the lobby.” A hillbilly in West Virginia went hunting one day and bagged three ducks. He put them in the bed of his pickup truck and was about to drive home where he was confronted by an ornery game warden that didn’t like hillbillies. The game warden ordered to the hillbilly to show his hunting license, and the hillbilly pulled out a valid West Virginia hunting license. The game warden looked at the license, then reached over and picked up one of the ducks, sniffed its butt, and said, “This duck ain’t from West Virginia. This is a Kentucky duck. You got a Kentucky huntin’ license, boy?” The hillbilly reached into his wallet and produced a Kentucky hunting license. The game warden looked at it, then reached over and grabbed the second duck, sniffed its butt, and said, “This ain’t no Kentucky duck, this duck’s from Tennessee. You got an Ten-
They weren’t in my pockets. Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My husband has scolded me many times for leaving my keys in the car’s ignition. He’s afraid that the car could be stolen. As I looked around the parking lot, I realized he was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then, I made the most difficult call of all to my husband: “I left my keys in the car and it’s been stolen.” There was a moment of silence. I thought the call had been disconnected, but then I heard his voice. “Are you kidding me?” he barked, “I dropped you off!” Now it was my turn to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, “Well, come and get me.” He retorted, “I will; just as soon as I convince this cop that I didn’t steal your car!” 85-year-old Biker Bob was requested by his doctor for a sperm count as part of his physical exam. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, “Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow.“ The next day Bob reappeared at the doctor’s office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day. The doctor asked what happened and the old biker explained, “Well you see, doc, it’s like this. First I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. Then I asked my old lady for help. She tried with her right hand, then with her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, still nothing. We even called up Sally, the gal next door and she tried, too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezin’ it between her knees, but still nothing.” The doctor was
A Japanese couple is arguing about how to perform highly erotic sex. Husband: “Sukitaki! Mojutaka!” Wife replies: “Kowanini! Mowi janakpa!” Husband says angrily: “Toka a anji rodi roumi yakoo!” Wife on her knees literally begging: “Mimi nakoundinda tinkouji!” Husband shouts angrily: “Na miaou kina Tim kouji!” I can’t believe you just sat there trying to read this – you don’t know a word of Japanese. You’ll read anything as long as it’s about sex!

Just Breathe
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 6:25) Remembering back during a hospital stay when the doctors were inserting a chest tube because of a collapsed lung from broken ribs due to a motorcycle crash, the pain was bad enough when they came at me with a knife and hose, but it got worse. At several points the doctor said, “Just breathe”. Later, I realized that life is the same way. We hold our breath in times of trouble or drastic changes in plans. How many times have you been riding when a “stupid” person pulls out in front of you and you go into defense mode? When it’s over you find yourself breathing harder because you held your breath waiting on the event to be over. Life is full of similar incidents. God wants us to know we don’t have to go through them alone. He says in His Word that He will give us rest and He has our back. So, the next time life comes at you hard, just breathe. And remember, when all else fails, try Jesus. In “HIS” wind Popkorn
