erry Christmas! Thanksgiving is behind us and the panic at the mall is in full swing. I do not go to the mall. That is not what Christmas is about for me. And since I am found on the “wrong” side of many issues, I am not upset at being in this position. But isn’t it amazing? With all of the Obama care chaos, knock out club events, and the Iran sanctions “deal” in the news, the world, or at least the Christian world, takes nearly a month off from the game of world domination and concentrates on Christmas. You cannot discount the volume of people in nations all over the world that celebrate Christmas. In spite of persecution and growing discrimination against Christianity and Christians, we take time to celebrate what is, undoubtedly, the fulcrum of history. Even our dating system, BC and AD, acknowledge the impact of Jesus’ life on earth. Many, from the scriptures to modern day accounts, declare the miracles that God in the flesh has worked in their lives. And I, even if you think I am on the “wrong” side of this debate, declare that there are more good, loving, Christian folk on earth than there are terrorists, agnostics, and bad guys. Now, I am not denying them the right to their beliefs. They are free to believe what they want, but I believe that there will be an accounting for every person and that we all have fallen short of God’s ideals for mankind. But I also believe that Christmas, particularly the birth of Jesus Christ, marks the beginning of God’s plan for the salvation of us all. That is why I celebrate Christmas. We give gifts symbolic of God’s love for us. “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Can you imagine “giving” your child? I cannot, but it kinda puts things in perspective here, doesn’t it? Merry Christmas

By: Caroline You know how you accumulate stuff? Especially riding gear and parts that either didn’t fit your bike or you changed out for something new. Well, James at Just Hawgs has the answer for you. Next time you see his ad or an entry in the Cruisin’ Calendar for a swap meet, just come on down to his shop at 5326 Walnut Cove Road (Main Street), in Walkertown and set up in the parking lot. He doesn’t charge you and I guarantee you will have some fun. The last swap meet held was back on October 26th and the weather was perfect. There were lots of folks there with all kinds of stuff and the best part was they were selling it, too! Another good reason to come by is if you see something you think might look good on your bike, there are experts on hand to advise you if it will fit or not. James or Jim can tell you if something will fit your bike or what bike a particular part goes to. No guess work involved! Usually, James treats everybody to lunch at the shop. This time homemade chicken noodle soup was on the menu with drinks and chips. If you missed this one, be sure and watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for the next one scheduled. You have nothing to lose and you just might make some cash. You do not have to wait for the next swap meet to drop by the shop and you can “friend” them on Facebook, too. If you are old school, you can call them at 336-595-2210 for all the 411.

By: Ricky Gammons and Janis Beasley What did you do for Halloween? If you were at Fat Macs in High Point, you had a LARGE time. Janis said that there were around 200 people in and out during the evening festivities. Insane is the word needed for her party! Fat Mac Pork Schop is not the largest venue in town, so they had a packed house all night with many in costume. There were fairies, dead brides, a voodoo medicine man, a flag girl and any more, all trying to win Fat Macs costume contest. Red and Sheila Wilson won by coming as a surgeon with a head on a platter (Red) and Sheila was a mental patient. Patrick and Wayne provided fine music for the evening, while additional contests were held. “Ball” eating and bobbing for “balls” were a couple of the other contest during the night. Nice prizes were given to the winners. The party continued until well after midnight. Nobody wanted to leave, so, next year, if you need a Halloween party to attend, dress up and see Janis and the girls at Fat Mac’s Pork Schop on North Main Street in High Point. It will be outrageous!!

By: Stephen Hester The 7th Annual Mike Merritt Scholarship Ride was held on Saturday, October 28th. This annual event started at the White Lake Fire Department and is sponsored by family and friends of Mike Merritt, who died at an early age. He was a Captain in the White Lake Fire Department at the time of his death. The event started with lunch and a silent auction. Then door prizes were awarded and a 50/50 raffle was held. All of the winnings from the 50/50 were donated back to the event. This year, the riders visited the USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington, NC. This annual event is held to support the community by providing local scholarships to the Bladen Community College in Dublin, NC. This year they raised close to $11,000 which will also go to assist the Bladen County Firefighters Association in raising funds for a much-needed training facility for local fireman. The facility will give the Bladen County firefighters a place to perform hands on training to help serve the community. Mike Merritt gave to his community by volunteering with the White Lake Fire Department and through this event his legacy continues by his family and friends ensuring that his community is still supported.

3rd Annual Riley’s Army Riding For The Kids

By: Kimber Stone Our 3rd Annual Riley’s Army Ride For The Kids on Saturday, October 12th was probably overshadowed by forecast of rain and the opening of hunting season. We still had 32 motorcycles and 40 riders that came to support the children of pediatric cancer and enjoy the ride. This year’s ride was a little different from previous in that we started at Ron Ayers Motorsports in Greenville then made a stop at Hometown Harley in Winterville. Before leaving the 1st stop, there were drawings for door prizes. From the Harley shop, riders left town and headed to New Bern to the Mum Fest. A private parking area was set aside and Papa John’s Pizza fed the bikers in the lot before they dispersed to enjoy the events at the Mum Fest.
Riley’s Army started in 2008 as an “army” of volunteers to support Riley during her battle with pediatric cancer. Now we support over 90 pediatric cancer patients and their families from the Eastern NC area.
Money raised from the ride will be used to help support sending pediatric cancer patients to Camp Rainbow. We wish to thank all who came out to ride, donate, volunteers and sponsors for our 3rd Annual Ride For The Kids. Like Riley’s Army on Facebook.

Freedom Biker Church Grand Opening And Open House

Photos By: Biker Bob By: GypsyRose Saturday, October 26th started off being cold and breezy but that did not stop 32 riders from going on a Pirate Ride. The route started with the Freedom Biker Church’s first location at Hwy 70 and Guy Road in Clayton. This is where Preacher Mike started it all. They were at this location from July 2006 until November 2006. When they outgrew this location they moved to Commerce Parkway where they had 2000 square feet and were there from December 2006 until April 2008. The third stop was at Gregory Auction House, their third home with 6000 square feet. Since being in this location, they have grown by leaps and bounds and now have moved to 131 Guy Road with 22,500 Square feet. We hope this will be their final home, but the way they are growing, I don’t know! The church’s open house saw over 300 people come and go throughout the day. Ray Price was there with his tent set up and Freedom Biker Church had their vending set up as well. Although those were the only two vendors, there was plenty of free food. They had pizza, BBQ plates with slaw, boiled potatoes, BBQ baked beans, bread, drinks, and deserts. They had music for everyone and tattoos and an imaginary room for the kids. Preacher Mike preformed the ribbon cutting ceremony at 3pm. If you did not get a chance to visit them for their open house, please feel free to go by any Sunday and visit them and check out the new building. We all want to say thank you Preacher Mike for all you do and good luck with your new location.

Burlington H.O.G. & Down Home Harley-Davidson 16th Annual M.D.A. Bike Show By: Scott Wicker Cool morning temperatures did not stop the 44 entrants that came out on Saturday, October 26th when Down Home HarleyDavidson in Burlington and the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter held their 16th Annual M.D.A. Bike Show. Nineteen categories of entries made for an impressive turn out of bikes. This year’s classes also included the Extreme Baggers that have really become very popular almost overnight. Several interesting items were part of the silent auction and that always contributes to the annual fundraiser. Raffle tickets were sold as well. Great food that was donated by local businesses was available and warmer afternoon temperatures made for a great turn out and gave us a very enjoyable and fun day. It was also great to see Miss Down Home Harley-Davidson, Natalie Hancock, at this year’s show as well. Live entertainment by the After 9 Band kept the crowd entertained as well. The bike show was open to all classes of Harleys, American V-Twins, and metric bikes, too! The classes were judged again this year with the participants entered in the

21st Annual Waccamaw PauWau By: Everette “EZ” Short Did you ever have a day where everything goes just right? Well, I am blessed to live in South Carolina with about 50 good weeks of riding weather a year and we have “Sunday Funday” once every so often when we manage a get together to explore places and see things rarely visited by the caged public. It was the first Sunday in November when we all met up to cruise out towards Aynor for the 21st Annual Waccamaw Pauwau (pronounced Pow-Wow) for a day of amazing tributes for both the local Native Americans and American War Veterans with ancient songs, mystic dancing, chanted prayers and a great experience that can only be witnessed. About a half dozen of the least “spiritual” beings you’ve ever met left out on a ride to a place without an address and no one had any idea exactly where it was that we were going. About 30 miles west on Highway #501, we turned into the Waccamaw Tribal Grounds, just like we knew where we were going. Once inside, we were routed around car traffic, where they charged us nothing and we were immediately met by old friends like Emmit Jones, Wild Bill, and the crew from Rolling Thunder. It was like we were always meant to be there. Amazingly, we were just in time for the “Missing Man” table ceremony, honoring service personnel that are POW’s still missing in action, with the local members of Rolling Thunder participating. Then, a bevy of local tribes, leaders, and all the

veterans in the audience were called together to dance in the circle with a power that was purely a “spiritual” gathering, as the local tribesman beat the drum. Everyone involved danced and chanted in a soul felt trance state that is rarely seen these days. Everywhere I turned, there were people we knew and it was a real “coolfest” reunion from the “Way Back Machine”, while people in feathered, deer skin, and leather costumes circled around us, calling the “Great Spirit” in a blessing of all that is, including our enemies (who are just as convinced of their ways as we are). It was all very heavy stuff with nothing but unconditional love, surrounding everyone in a thick cloud of well-being. I mean it, the feeling of goodness and wonder was thick in the air. When it was over, everyone had places to go and football games to watch, but I managed to gather what I could of the Rolling Thunder members for a quick photo in the warm afternoon sunshine. In a heartbeat, and with the same quickness that it had begun, the moment was over and we were back on our way down the road to an every day Sunday. As we rode on, I could still hear the drums beating and the soul warriors chanting. No kidding! On the way back, we stopped for burgers and beers where we stood around the bikes in the back parking lot asking, “Did someone buy a CD of that Native music?” All the way down Highway #501, it was like a smoky cloud of music enveloping us, with drumming and chanting in fullblown surround sound. The funny thing is, although we rode up with stereos blasting, everyone had turned the music off to just enjoy the ride on the way back. Next time you hear about a “Pow-Wow” get to it! I have to say “Great Job” to Rolling Thunder for reminding us that all gave some, some gave all, and we have not forgotten our missing service men and women. Yata-Hey and keep dancing in the Full Throttle way of life!

Randolph County CBA Swap Meet

By: WildThing November 2nd and 3rd were the dates, and Riders In The Country was the place for the semi-annual Randolph County Concerned Bikers Association Swap Meet. This CBA Chapter has a long history of legendary swap meets and the Toy Run out of the Randolph Mall in Asheboro, riding to The American Children’s Home in Lexington, NC. Times change and so do people. Attrition due to ageing, economy, and interest levels has forever changed the faces of some of our most cherished rallies and rides. Then there is the attraction of the newest places to congregate and the myriad of new groups and rides that have developed in recent years. These factors contributed to a lower than expected turnout this year. We missed out on the Saturday bike show, but we did ride down on Sunday morning to visit with the CBA folks. The weather was fairly warm for early November and the vendors were just getting things back together after some strong winds had come through and overturned several canopies. The Chapter members were busy grilling hamburgers and hotdogs and serving up delicious BBQ with all the fixins. We were a little early, but it wasn’t too long before several groups of motorcycles roared into the parking lot. George Rider had the bar open and folks were enjoying adult

beverages as the youngsters played the games and occupied the pools tables inside, all to our favorite rock - n - roll tunes being played on the jukebox. It was and enjoyable time of visiting with folks we hadn’t seen in quite a while. It was quietter than the old days, but still a lot of fun. Watch the Cruisin’ Calendar for the 2014 version of an old favorite swap meet and come on out for a burger and a beer! See you there!

By: Old Spook The city of North Charleston held it’s nationally sanctioned Veteran’s Day event at historic Park Circle in North Charleston. This event was attended by the Firefighters Association whose honor guard participated in the ceremonies. The US Postal Service chose to debut its new Medal of Honor Stamp to the veterans at this occasion. The stamps were made available for purchase to the veterans at the event The Department of Defense and the Veterans Day National Committee once again selected North Charleston as a Regional Site for Veterans Day 2013. North Charleston is one of two regional sites in the State of South Carolina and has received this designation for 4 consecutive years. Colonel Myron C. Harrington, Jr. USMC (Retired) was the event’s keynote speaker. Col. Harrington, a native of Augusta, Georgia, graduated from The Citadel in 1960 and was commissioned in the USMC in 1961. He would go on to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Mayor R. Keith Summey, overcome with emotion, had to pause in his address to the veterans when he recounted his conversation with a veteran who he expected to see on this occasion, but had recently died. The area was packed with veterans from all wars and it was a reminder to me of how indebted we are to these men who defend our freedoms with their lives.

39th Annual Charlotte CBA Fall Swap Meet And Bike Show

By: WildThing I have personally attended the Charlotte CBA Swap Meets, spring and fall, every year for at least the past 12 years! And they are all different. They are held at the sprawling Charlotte Metrolina Fairgrounds on Statesville Rd. the outside exhibition area, is where vendors set up their booths with pop-up canopies, closed and open trailers, just on tables, or even on the ground. There are literally thousands of parts and accessories on display by individuals and bike shops, with even some out of state rigs. There are three buildings with their full complement of vendors, several with new merchandise, bike parts, some rolling chassis, leather apparel, jewelry, t-shirts, and patches and booths by many riding groups, veteran’s clubs, and fund raising groups, all vying for the attention of the visitors. A fourth building houses the entrants for the bike show and has the trophy table set up so folks can vote with dollars for their favorite motorcycle, with the cash raised going to Samaritan’s Purse. The outside center concourse between the exhibition buildings has picnic tables set up and a snack and beverage bar at one end. This is an area where folks tend to congregate and rest and visit with friends while enjoying some refreshments. Upon entering the main hall from the concourse, you are im-

mediately met with a constant stream of folks just coming in the front gate. There is a snack bar beside the main gate and the Charlotte CBA is set up right inside the front door. They are selling their event t-shirts and passing out 2014 calendars, as well as other literature about the Concerned Bikers Association (CBA) and advocating membership. There are lots of vendors in this building, too. The stage is set up toward the back, right beside the full liquor bar. The band, Stratus, was on stage cranking out the tunes many folks were standing around enjoying them and dancing to the more rousing melodies. This is where the wet T-shirt contest is held. The Metrolina is a great venue for this event, with plenty of parking out front and bikes were parked all around the buildings. Of course, the weather this fall was great and that encouraged many outside vendors and motorcyclists to ride to the event. The price is right, too, $12 for one day or $20 for both days with an early bird special 2 for 1 on Sunday. The part I like is no pets and no kids without an adult. Not that I don’t like either, I just believe that for the most part (wet Tshirt part) this is adult entertainment. There is free admission for active military personnel. The CBA also has a drawing both days for a $500 gift certificate! What’s not to like about this? You get motorcycles, music, brews, and browsing for stuff. The earnest swap meet guys get there early and don’t stay for the band, but if you are out and about for a good time, watch for the next Charlotte CBA Swap Meet in March 2014, cause I couldn’t cover it all in this article, you have to see it for yourself.

Thunder Road Harley-Davidson Moonshine Jamboree

By: Scott Wicker I always love riding to Danville, Virginia and going to Thunder Road Harley-Davidson. This time of year there is a lot happening there with all the 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycles arriving and the cooler fall temperatures make the ride all that more enjoyable. On Saturday, October 5th, they held a very unique event called the Moonshine Jamboree. Tickle, Howard, and Moe from the hit reality TV show “Tickle” were on hand signing autographs and posing for pictures with customers along with Big Jim and Courtney McCoy from the hit History Channel TV series “Hatfields and McCoys: White Lightning.” The show “Tickle” is a spinoff of the show “Moonshiners” and can be seen on the Discovery Channel. Tickle, Howard, and Moe are from Pittsylvania County, the county Danville is in, and the show is filmed in Gretna. Everyone’s favorite beverages were available along with food supplied by the Checkered Pig of Danville/Martinsville. Live Bluegrass Music from Blue Lonesome kept everyone entertained throughout the day as well. As usual, the Showroom was full of folks checking out the newly arrived 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycles along with all the new accessories in the parts department. The girls in MotorClothes® were busy with all the latest winter fashions on hand. The Service Department was busy in spite of Bike Week going on in Myrtle Beach. The Sales Department was

L-R Big Jim McCoy and his wife, Tammy, from the Hatfields & McCoys, Big H (Sales at Thunder Roads H-D), and Courtney McCoy from the Hatfields & McCoys

able to sell and deliver several bikes, which made everything worthwhile. We would like to thank everyone at Thunder Road HarleyDavidson for their hospitality and another fun day at the dealership. Thunder Road Harley-Davidson would like to thank Riverside Equipment Rentals for their support of the event. A big “Thanks” goes out to everyone that came by and supported the event. Thunder Road Harley-Davidson invites you to come and see them at 4960 Riverside Drive in beautiful Danville, Virginia. Remember! Ride Safe!

A Conversation With John Saunders

By: WildThing On the cool, drizzly evening of November 1, the High Point Barnes & Noble bookstore hosted author John F. Saunders for a book signing and discussion on his newest novel, “Spartan Negotiator”. In real life, John is a dentist practicing in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is married to Lynn and has two sons. So, I asked, how did you get from dentistry to gritty novels about a motorcycle club enforcer? Like many all American youngsters, John grew up watching motorcycle movies and loved motorcycles. If you did, too, you know that most of them were ‘B’ grade, at best, but they spoke to the soul about freedom and adventure. In college, John studied ancient Greece, and so is well versed in the famous martial traditions and mythological beginnings of the city-state of Sparta. Couple this with a vivid imagination, research on the Internet and gleaning tidbits of experiences from his wide variety of patients, and voila Frank Kane and the Spartan Motorcycle Club was born in “The Last Spartan”. I asked him if he rode motorcycles and the reply was: “not anymore”. Apparently his last ride on a trip to Mexico, complete with rutted dirt roads, he made a pact with God that he would give up riding if he got home safe. And that is where he left it! John is really easy to talk to and we shared several “back in the day” stories. He talked about developing the story line and the characters by trying to get a criminal mindset and think how a criminal would see the world. When we were discussing the cover art on both books in which you cannot see the face, he commented that he wanted the reader to have their own vision of Frank Kane and the other characters. He mentioned that he was surprised to find his

books popular with women who loved Frank whom John thought was scary. John relayed to us a conversation he had with his sons when he asked them if a movie was made from his books, who should play the lead? The choice was Tyler Mane, (Michael Myers in ‘Halloween’, Ajax in ‘Troy’ and a former wrestler). Well, John sent Tyler the story and didn’t hear back for a couple weeks. Then, out of the blue, a call came during office hours and his receptionist just jotted down the name and phone number. When John got the message, he thought it was a joke, but when he called the number, Tyler answered! So, John has written the script, and Mane Entertainment is set to do the movie, and filming could possibly be in North Carolina. How exciting! Well, the evening was winding down and the bookstore was closing. It was hard to just cut off the conversation with John, but it was time to go. Some folks came up for a last minute autograph from John and then were off to try and find his other book. I got my copies signed, too. If you have become a fan of Frank Kane like I have, be on the look out for the third novel: “Spartan Kryptea”. You can purchase “The Last Spartan” and “Spartan Negotiator” at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Savage Press.

Indian Motorcycles Take The Beach By Storm By: Everette “EZ” Short On November 8th and 9th, I was fortunate enough to spend time with the crew at Coastal Victory Indian of Myrtle Beach during their Indian Motorcycle Demo Days. Over the two-day event, more than 100 riders participated in hands-on demo rides, with all three models of the new Indian Chiefs made available, free of charge to the public and I was honestly impressed. First of all, all three models are historically recognizable with a lineage that dates back to 1901, and each feature iconic Indian signature items from stem to stern, like the glass Indian running light mounted on the front fender, sweeping body lines that meet in a smoothly valanced rear fender, skirted tightly around the back tire, and a power plant that is both visually and technically stunning. These 3 new Indians are not only easy on the eyes, they are sure footed on the asphalt and definite attention magnets, with a signature base note sound that rolls out of sculpted deep chrome tailpipes that announces the presence of an all new air and oil cooled 111 cubic inch “Thunder Stroke” power plant. This new engine reportedly generates 119 foot lbs. of torque, with 103 actual foot lbs. straight to the ground, out of the box without any modifications. By the time you read this, a stage one kit will be available, as well as a remapping option for the EFI system. Friday afternoon, before the crowds got thick, I had the opportunity to test ride all three models and was fortunate enough to get about a 20+ mile ride on their flagship cruiser “The Chieftain”. For a full fairing big boy cruiser, the controls were intuitive, with a smooth, comfortable ride that was sweet and low balanced, with no scrapping of the big foot floorboards, even on tight turns. By the time I got a chance to catch third gear, the power band kicked in and brought on that rush you feel with a new ride that shows you that this is no toy. Honestly, for a bike that big, the weight felt lightly balanced and was never an issue, even at hard stops and when backing it up for parking. I even found that the fairing almost faded from view during the ride, with an adjustable windshield and a fantastic sound system that automatically compensated for road noise. The instrumentation was easy to read, without being over-bearing and a state of the art “Blue Tooth” system comes standard with hook-ups for all your tech gear. I could easily have ridden right into the sunset and there was ample room to bring along everything you need for a good time getaway, with quick release, remote locking hard saddlebags. Let me repeat

that all these features and more come as standard equipment on this motorcycle with an MSRP of only $22,999. It would take all the pages in this magazine to tell you about the other two Chief models I rode, but let it suffice to say that The Vintage Chief, with it’s gorgeous blonde, stressed leather bags and needle stitched wide seat, is the Indian we all grew up admiring. Only this one isn’t made of “unobtainium” with a sticker price of under $21,000. I gotta tell you that these bikes are fantastic deals, with a lot of bang for the buck. After spending time with everyone who came out, I have to tell you that to get this many people out to see a new motorcycle of any kind, and most of these riders had ridden to the event on their own bikes, without hearing one negative comment is beyond amazing. Couple that with the legendary service that Coastal Victory Indian of Myrtle Beach is famous for, and you’ve got a winning combination from a family run company that still remembers your name long after you ride that new pony off the lot. I heard so many great stories about these talented men and women of Coastal Victory Indian coming to the rescue of people who didn’t even buy a motorcycle from them that it comes as no surprise that Indian Motorcycles put their ponies in their care. Coastal Victory Indian has a gorgeous new showroom, with plenty of genuine Indian and Victory accessories on hand and a crew of professionals that know their products from the inside out. Visit Coastal Victory Indian of Myrtle Beach on the web at www.CoastalVictory. com or make it a destination next time you want to go for a ride. Coastal Victory Indian is located at 3956 Hwy #17 South in Murrells Inlet, SC or call 843-651-9799 for more information about these great motorcycles and be sure to tell them you read about them in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine!

A Special Biker Family By: dpapabear If you are a biker, you know what it means when we talk about the biker family. I had the opportunity to meet several couples during some of the earlier rallies this year and I was accepted into a very special group of friends. One of the group, Billy Bowling, is dealing with some serious health issues and one of his “to do” list items was to go to Riders Roost. So, the members of this group of bikers along with Billy’s wife, Donna, and also David and Pam of The Riders Roost Campground, took it upon themselves to make this happen. So, on the weekend of September 20-22, several of Billy and Donna’s closest friends told Billy that they were going riding and out to eat Friday evening and brought him up to the Riders Roost. You should have seen the reaction on Billy’s face when they pulled into the Roost Campground and out stepped about 30 bikers to wish him a special welcome. There were a lot of teary-eyed faces! David had picked up a 200 lb. pig and we had it cooking over the fire all thru the night (about 24 hours) until Saturday evening. After getting settled in Friday evening, David cranked up the tunes for the night and we all sat around, talked about past times, great friends, and danced the night away. Andy Munoz, the 2013 Riders Roost Karaoke Champion was there and sang some songs for us as well. Saturday we ventured out for some riding time and more fellowship. Around 5pm or so, the pig was brought off the fire, pulled and chopped for our eating enjoyment. It was hickory smoked, tender, and delicious. It was served up along with several other dishes and most of us made pigs of ourselves. Saturday night was topped off with a special treat when Trey Childress and Joe Wright from the “Jack Of Clubs” band, formed an acoustic duo and came in to play tunes and sing for us. Again, we fellowshipped, partied, and danced into the night. Sunday saw us out riding, eating, and enjoying the areas’ scenery again. No one wanted the weekend to end, but we all

eventually said our teary good-byes and started our treks home until we meet again. This is what bikers do! That is what makes our family so special. It’s about the fellowship, the ride, the journey, and the love and caring for each other! This special group of riders only met about 4 months ago at the Spring Boone Bike Rally and have been together on several occasions since, caring and looking out for one another. We thank each one who took part in this and would like to send a special thank you to David and Pam Lucas, owners/operators of the Riders Roost Motorcycle Resort for being a part of this function and helping make it a special event! We look forward to seeing each one soon! As always, ride safe, ride often, have fun, and enjoy the journey!

Financing A vailable! Photos By: Biker Bob By: Gypsy Rose It was a dark and stormy night on Friday, November 1st, as Locked & Loaded celebrated their annual Halloween party and, man, was it a party! Where else can you see tough guy bikers turn into ghosts, goblins, and ghouls? Wait a minute. There were none of them there, but they did have zombies, cops, the Munster family, princess warriors, and werewolves, just to name a few. Steve, one of the owners had two bands scheduled. The opening act was Adhesive and this was their second year performing for this party. As the Halloween party has become an annual event, so has Mostley Crue and, man, did both bands bring the house down. The lead singer for Mostley Crue said this was their third or fourth year performing for them. When Mostley Crue took their first break, the costume contest was held. Everyone who entered paraded around the bar and after listening to the crowd applause for each entry, they brought the top three back to see who would win first, second, and third place. The winners ended up being Princess Warrior (Kristin Vuckovich) for first place, the Munster family (Sheila Field, Michael Hios, Travis Canty, Beth Canty, & Todd Lewis) took second place and third place went to the walking dead (Dawn Sousa & Chris Freeman). What a great time everyone had and if you missed out on the Halloween Party this year, well there’s always next year. If you’re ever in the Garner, NC area (It doesn’t have to be Halloween) stop by 1125 US 70, and let Steve, Carlos and the rest of the crew know you read about them in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. AMA Shifts Into Higher Gear To Prohibit E15 In an effort to prohibit the availability of E15, a gasoline formulation that contains up to 15% ethanol by volume, the American Motorcyclist Association supports U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte’s (R-Va.) H.R. 1462, the RFS Reform Act of 2013. The bipartisan bill would amend the Renewable Fuel Standard to recognize market conditions and realities. It would also prohibit the US Environmental Protection Agency from allowing the introduction into the marketplace of gasoline containing greater than 10% of ethanol by volume. In other words, E15 would no longer be permitted if this legislation becomes law. The AMA has repeatedly expressed concerns to government officials and federal lawmakers about possible damage to motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle engines caused by the inadvertent use of E15 when the new fuel becomes widely available. In October 2010, the EPA approved E15 for use in model year 2007 and newer light duty cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles. In January 2011, it added model year 2001-2006 light duty vehicles to the approved list. This new legislation would help protect the 22,000,000 motorcycles and ATVs in the country, and the riders who depend on their safe operation, from inadvertent misfueling. Preventing these inadvertent misfuelings has been one of the AMA’s top priorities due to the fact that motorcycles and ATVs aren’t designed to run on ethanol fuel blends higher than 10%, and many older machines favored by vintage enthusi-

asts may have problems with any ethanol in the fuel. In fact, simply using fuel with blends of ethanol over 10% could void a vehicle manufacturer’s warranty, potentially leaving motorcyclists with thousands of dollars in additional repair costs. We need your help to pass H.R. 1462. You can send a prewritten email to your representative immediately by following the “Take Action” option and entering your information. The AMA encourages riders to personalize their messages by drawing on their own personal riding experiences. Please join the AMA to help us fight for safe access to fuel. Go to http://goo.gl/zCgJkR to “Take Action”. More members means more clout against our opponents, and your support will help the AMA fight for your rights – on the road, trail, racetrack, and in the halls of government. Motorcycle Insurance DO YOU HAVE PROPER COVERAGE?

By Rose and Lloyd To most bikers riding is their passion. To get out on the open road and feel that air makes you feel free, and many times brings you peace of mind after a stressful day or week. You can ride alone or in groups. Sometimes in charity rides you can be in groups of hundreds. This makes for a glorious day. IMPORTANT: Do you have the proper insurance coverage? A friend of ours had an accident several months ago. She was a part time employee and had no medical insurance. She turned to her motorcycle insurance to cover her hospital bills. She was denied. I started investigating our policy to find out if we were covered injured while riding. It turns out that we were not covered unless we had medical insurance at work. In this economy many companies are not offering insurance to their employees, or in many cases people are without a job. We talked to the North Carolina Department of Insurance and found that medical payments are not covered on your motorcycle insurance policy in NC. The agencies can offer it, but I called over 10 different agencies, most of them big name companies, and was told we could not get medical coverage. It is not required in NC so the companies do not offer it. When you got your bike and you called your agent you probably did the same as we did. You ask for full coverage and, like the majority of people, you assume you are protected, after all you are paying the premium. Why read all the fine lines in the

WE PROVIDE THE COVERAGE YOU EXPECT AND THE PROTECTION YOU DESERVE. •Medical Payments Insurance •Liability Coverage •Collision Coverage •Comprehensive Coverage •Uninsured Coverage •Roadside Assistance •OEM Endorsement •Custom Equipment •Guest Passenger Injury •Safety Apparel Coverage

policy? You trust your agent, they gave you and charged you for full coverage. They never ask if you want medical coverage in the event of an accident because most of them do not offer it. So, as you are living your passion, feeling that wind, and destressing, you don’t consider going down. But if you do, what happens? With no medical insurance the bills can be thousands of dollars. I, by chance, met an insurance man and ask him to give me a quote a few weeks ago. He also is a biker and a veteran. I was complaining to him about the lack of medical coverage. He took the time to do some checking and found out that his agency can and will cover you. (limitations vary between $2 & 5k) After getting the quote I came home, and again, called other agencies, even agencies operating under the same national company, and they would not even quote for me. I signed our polices. We have medical coverage and it upped my premium less than $2 a month. We all need this coverage. The only person I have found that will take the time and make the effort to be sure that you are covered and secure from loss of your personal belongs if you sustain a medical bill is Danny Bracken. He is with O’Hanlon Insurance and Financial Services at 5411-D West Friendly Avenue in Greensboro, His number is 336-288-1208. Call him up and tell him you saw this IMPORTANT information in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine, upon binding and signing up for EFT, he will give you $30 off your first payment.

By: Sarah Hager BBQ enthusiasts and riders came out to enjoy a perfect fall day at Ray Price Harley-Davidson and Ray Price Triumph in Raleigh at the Annual BBQ Cook-off And Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 9th. Hundreds flocked to help raise money for the United States Veterans Corps, filling up the street end-to-end with three rows of densely parked motorcycles. With a $5 donation a wristband granted them access to all-you-can-eat fresh BBQ. Each of the cooking teams competing for trophies and the ever-coveted “People’s Choice” award began cooking in the middle of the night with a 100-pound pig. Mouth-watering smoke from the cookers billowed down the road, and the crowds lined up at noon as serving began. The BBQ varied from chopped to pulled, with unique sauces for each, including choices for both vinegar and tomato lovers. The Johnny Orr Band played all day, entertaining the crowd with classic covers and original songs. The band played at the Ray Price Capital City Bikefest earlier this year, and is auditioning for the popular TV series America’s Got Talent on NBC. The Rex Bloodmobile was on-site and collected a total of 20 units of blood. The Armed Forces of America Motorcycle Club was set up

with corn hole next to the US Veterans Corps, who brought out some of their bikes and a special dune buggy. The USO was also represented with homemade sweet treats and other goodies. At 2pm awards and prizes were given out. Rockstar Energy gave away five prize bags after sharing samples of their newest concoctions and Ray Price drew a name for tickets to see Bret Michaels play a show at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem on December 5. Nationwide Terry Nobles Insurance Agency gave away a $100 Ray Price gift card. Another high-ticket giveaway was from the Armed Forces of America Motorcycle Club -- $1,000 cash. Needless to say, all the winners were ecstatic. The awards continued with the crowning of Dunn and Bullock out of Hillsborough, NC as the BBQ champions for 2013. In second place was Grill Billys, and 2 Guys and a Pig came in a respectable 3rd. The People’s Choice award was also presented to 2 Guys and a Pig. Other cookers that participated included Freedom Biker Church, Elbow Room Cooking Team, The Bomb Squad, and first-time competitors, Bart’s Old North State. The cook-off and Bikefest raised $3,230 for the US Veterans Corps. For more information on their projects, events, and volunteer opportunities, visit www.myusvc. com.

AMRA Jim McClure Nitro Nationals Story and photo by Alan Dockery Hotrod Harleys were at The ROCK the second weekend of October for the Jim McClure Nitro Nationals. Thanks to Steve Earwood, Rockingham Dragway owner, and Marty and Jayne VandenHeuvel of the American Motorcycle Racing Association, Harley drag racing fans enjoyed the great fall race we are used to. This was the first race for the AMRA at The ROCK and they made it a good one. Besides our usual favorite Carolina racers, many of the AMRA regulars made it to North Carolina for the last race of the season. Racers from across the country, as well as Canada, Germany and Australia, put on a great show for the fans. The Jim McClure Nitro Nationals was an exciting race for the teams and fans. I don’t know how many records were broken nor the final points standings since our deadline was right after the race and those were still being verified. But I heard a few folks calculating how quick or fast they would need to go to back up potential record runs and watching other racers to see how they would end the season in national points. Besides lots of racers, there were vendors and exhibitors to check out. And, yes folks, the band Peacepipe was on stage Saturday night to rock the partiers. The Top Fuel field saw local favorite Tommy Grimes, Pfafftown, NC, consistently ride the Ray Price H-D machine to passes around 6.20 seconds at more than 220 mph. In the final round Tommy took the win and set a new national record of 6.197 seconds. Mark Cox, Wilkesboro, NC, and Tracy Kile, Asheville, NC, also competed in Top Fuel. Jay Turner Julian, NC, didn’t make the field but finished the season third in AMRA national points. Tracy Kile also competed in the Nitro Funny Bike class. During the Saturday rider’s meeting Phyllis McClure presented Ray Price with the Jim McClure Memorial Award for Performance and Sportsmanship in Nitro Motorcycle Racing on behalf of herself and Red Line Oil. A full 16-bike Pro Fuel field included a few Carolina teams. Tyler Wilson, Walnut Cove, NC; Jay Beasley, Winston-Salem, NC; and Wendell Overcash, Sanford, NC, made the field. Dale Nilles, Wilkesboro, NC, had Kirby Apathy riding his bike since Dale had already locked up the AMRA Number One plate for the season. Dickie Johnson, Aynor, SC, competed in the Modified class. In the Super Gas 9.90 index class Alex Cunningham, Charlotte, NC, Chris Wood, Goldsboro, NC, and Greg Best, Raleigh, NC, qualified well. Mike Motto, Jacksonville, NC, was in Outlaw Street and I think finished the season third in points. Super Pro runs on a 10.30 index and saw Keith Richner, Moore, SC, in the 14-bike field. Keith broke his Top Eliminator bike during test and tune but may have still finished fourth in TE points and sixth in SP for the year. Twenty-five bikes made up the Pro Eliminator 10.90 index

class. Lane Boger, Sr., Greensboro, NC, put them all on the trailer as he rode his Cox’s H-D Sportster to the class win. Keith Richner, Bill Collion, NC; Ken Strauss, Terrell, NC; Scott Wood, Goldsboro, NC; Don Meeher, Goldsboro, NC; and Erik Harley, Rock Hill, SC, also ran in PE. Hot Street had Mike Motto and Dickie Johnson competing in the eight-bike field. I think they finished seventh and eight in AMRA points this season. The 31-bike Street Eliminator 11.50 index class had Travis Ellis, Summerville, NC; Lane Boger, Jr., Concord, NC; Victor Trainque, Goose Creek, SC; Steve Brumfield, Stantonsburg, NC; Steve McDaniel, Rockingham, NC; Don Meeher, Greg Best, and Erik Harley representing the Carolinas. Greg was 10th in points coming to Rockingham. In the dial-in Eliminator Class Julius Demanes II from Havre De Grace, MD, took The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine $150 bonus when he qualified number one with a nearly perfect .001 second reaction time! The heartbreak of the day was when Chris Wood lost in the final round. Also in Eliminator class was Travis Ellis, Steve Brumfield, Erik Harley, Don Meeher, Scott Wood, Alex Cunningham, Jason Moore, Cameron, NC; Mike Trull, Sanford, NC; Randy Taylor, NC; Mike Hillman, Raleigh, NC; David Herndon, Valdese, NC; Wendell Burch, Chapel Hill, NC; Tony Walker, Wilmington, NC; Kelly Overcash, Sanford, NC; Joe Peterson, Wilmington. NC; Chad Orazen, Kannapolis, NC, and Stump Williams, Myrtle Beach, SC. Everyone had such a great time and liked Rockingham Dragway so much they plan to have spring and fall races next year. Keep reading The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for details and race dates. Checkout www.AMRAonline.com for final records and points standings and www.FullThrottleMagazine.com for more photos from The ROCK.

South Carolina House Bill 3231 Non-Discrimination & Equal Access For Motorcycles House Bill 3231 is to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina by adding Section 57-1-90, to provide that the Department of Transportation shall not discriminate against motorcycles, motorcycle operators, or motorcycle passengers, nor shall any city, county, town, or political subdivision, wherever or whenever tax payer money is used. The Bill is sponsored by Representatives Atwater, Huggins, Toole, Ballentine, and Taylor so far and we need more sponsors for this Bill. Contact your Representatives and urge that they add their name as a sponsor. Have you heard of the Intelligent Transportation System? This is a system being developed with the technology of today to regulate everything involving transportation on roads and highways in this country. Currently, we know that in several places in this country technology has already shown that the day of the driverless car is approaching. How is this possible? Technology is now allowing the experimental vehicles to obtain information relative to their placement in the roadway, surrounding vehicles, speed, and obstacles, directly from the road or from surrounding vehicles. Perhaps you have seen some of the film of the new techno cars on the news. Perhaps you have recently purchased a 2014 vehicle, it may have some of the new technology, which will apply your brakes automatically to avoid a rear end collision or warn you when you are about to drift into another lane or tell you if a car is in your blind spot. What has this got to do with us and this Bill? Everything! If we are not considered in the new roads to be constructed with technology embedded in them to facilitate the handling of traffic flow, we may be banned from using these roads. It’s coming, a day when all traffic will be manipulated through technology in order to save lives, that is why this Bill is so important to us.

We have to be a part of any discussion or decision on transportation and that is what this Bill does. It makes sure we don’t get left out. Equally important, this Bill mandates that no action of the Transportation Commission or the Department of Transportation shall have the effect of discrimination against motorcycles, motorcycle operators, or motorcycle passengers. In addition, this Bill states that the prohibition against discrimination also applies to counties, cities, towns, and other political subdivisions. The Bill also bans discrimination in any facility constructed, equipped, operated, or maintained with taxpayer money. This Bill is the only protection we will have to insure that we continue to be able to ride the roads of South Carolina and use the transportation facilities throughout the State. This Bill is to preserve our freedom to ride and to be treated equal. This Bill is for you and all who ride now and in the future. Calvin McCarver Memorial Toy Run

By: Stan Gordon On a bright sunny Saturday morn (November 2nd) over 200 bikers gathered at Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe, NC to pay tribute to a local Vietnam War veteran and collect toys for needy children for this upcoming Christmas Season. Many were friends and family of this gentleman who left an impression on those who knew him. I had the privilege of knowing Calvin. He was what many men ever hope to be to the people around him. Calvin’s wife, Anita, and her close friend and military activist, Linda Mullis, headed up much of the project. This was a well-organized effort that gathered over 630 toys! The boxes of toys sat in the parking lot as the midday sun shone through the glory of our flag. It was perfect day to ride a motorcycle and enjoy time with good friends. Along with knowing that many children would be blessed with the toys, great fellowship was enjoyed by all those who participated. The local Monroe Fire Department and several local law enforcement officers took part in the job of overseeing the activities. The US Marine Corps had its members in place to perform their duties as well in paying tribute to a veteran who served his country well. It was such a fitting tribute to a man that had made many sacrifices for his country and family. It’s a good way to measure one’s influence in his community when you see who all turns out to show their support long after their passing. We look forward to the next time we gather to honor Calvin and we hope that many needy children will benefit from this event for many years to come.

By: Old Spook This year has not been a good one for the cage vs. motorcycle battle. In the past year, I’ve seen too many deaths of motorcyclists in the low country. It seems I’m going to a funeral at least once a month. The Warhorse Brotherhood lost four members this past year. I know that my post of the American Legion Riders lost two this year. On that note I started to investigate who was offering safety classes for bikers. This past year I visited with the Charleston Air Force Base and found that they had purchased over 20 bikes for a safety course given to their troops who purchase and use bikes on base. Their requirements for safety are stringent. You must wear helmets, gloves, a reflective vest, and protective clothing before you can even get through the gate at the base. Well, what about us average grunts? I know that the local police here in Charleston offer a safety course but it is not advertised and few people take advantage of it. They offer an advanced course for riders but you’ll need to contact your local law enforcement agency to get the details. What I did find is that Low Country Harley Davidson offers a beginner’s course for riders or a brush up course for the pros that takes into account the schedule of a working man. Rob Grimesly, a retired motor officer of Charleston Country Sheriff’s Department, offers this class. Rob works for HarleyDavidson corporate on fleet sales. He suggested this class to LC H-D. It is based on the MSF courses (Motorcycle Safety Foundation), which all riders should be aware of and participate in. The course takes place over a 4-day period. It starts on Thursday and Friday from 5:30pm to 8pm. Saturday from 7am to 4pm, and finishes on Sunday 7am to 1pm. We always say be safe out there. Well, here’s a way to help ensure that.

Benefit For Wade Luck

By: Deborah Smith There is something really amazing about witnessing a massive wave of bikers assembled to lift up someone in need. The quote “Live to Ride and Ride to Live” has more depth and meaning than imagined. To hear those engines roar out is a thrill beyond any decibels in our atmosphere. Why? Because those engines are sending a thundering message across the roadways that says “We are here to take care of you!” To envision this wave of hard steel crossing the highways in support is a symbol as beautiful as our waving American flag. It’s an act of humanity and patriotism for their fellow man, woman, child, or organization who is facing difficult challenges and the outreach is incredible. We were honored to witness this wide band of humanity on November 2, 2013 for our friend and community member Wade Luck at R Lo’s Pub and Grub in Thomasville, NC. All it took was a shout out from our poker run organizers David and Amber McBride who’s dedication to assist in ‘Kicking Cancers Tail’ was a call to duty many riders responded to immediately. We are forever filled with gratitude to all those who rode, came out to witness the ride, and all those who contributed their time, efforts, and attended in support. Many thanks to our destination sponsors Fat Mac’s and Green Oak Tavern in High Point, NC and Darryl’s in Lexington, NC. Wade Luck is a rider and owner of Pineywood Pure gas station in Thomasville, NC who has always given a helping hand to those in need. Like so many other small business owners in this economy, the inflated cost of health care insurance is not affordable. Wade who was diagnosed with colon cancer in May of 2013 and has been undergoing chemotherapy had a small one-time pay out policy that barely covered his initial surgery. His disease has since spread to his lungs and he is facing another surgery in February of 2014 and another round of treatments. He had to liquidate his beloved Harley and a lifetime of assets and it still isn’t enough to cover the inflated cost of health care. I had an interesting call and humorous conversation with a gentleman named Larry Robbins. We laughed as we told each other our funny Wade Luck experiences and he wanted to know if Wade would be attending this event. I let him know in Wades current condition, there was no guarantee. Wade was hoping to be well enough to attend for a brief hour. If Wade felt well enough, he would stay as long as he could. He thanked me for the information and said he would attend and make a donation. I thanked him and told him I enjoyed the conversation and appreciated his support. Unknown to me, Larry traveled from outside Atlanta, Ga. to attend in support of his good friend from childhood. He introduced himself and then discreetly handed us an amazing amount towards Wade’s

donation. We were in awe. The saying “True friends are like the stars, you may not always see them but they are always there” never rang truer than on this day. Larry’s kindness truly touched our hearts. Timmy and Sandy Walker won the winning hand and the big poker run payout and Charles Kennedy, Jr. won the big 50/50 payout. They instantly donated the winnings back into the cause. These are just a few examples of the kindnesses given by so many throughout the day’s events. Wade’s team of volunteers dedicated endless hours to assist in his current care and cure. Their efforts in canvassing for sponsors and contributors for the BBQ plate dinner, silent auction, door prize and 50/50 raffles paid off in topping $10,000 in donations. Rockin’ members of the bands No Shame and Lit Up immediately responded and contributed their performances. They arrived early and remained the entire event to assist our team and served double duty joining the labor force of volunteers. We would like to thank our riders and all those who attended this event, contributed, and to those who could not attend and sent in donations. We would like to thank our additional sponsors Tommy’s BBQ and Carolina Catering Cuisine in Thomasville, NC, Made Especially For You by Jean Soloman in Winston Salem, NC, PS Photography and Smokey T’s BBQ both in Trinity, NC, and our venue hosts Randy and Tammy Louya, Rusty Slate, and their staff. Special thank you to Wade’s Team to ‘Kick Cancers Tail’ including Devin Smith, Jennifer Needham, Kay Bennett, Crystal Johnson, Jenny Cail, Leah Pendergrass, Sharon Jones, Karen Garrett, Tonda Leonard, Vicki Leonard, Jennifer Belcher, Donna Hoover, Rene Carter, Chad Smith, Gary Owens, Dawn Sheek, Terri Hall, Linda Garrett, Sherry Reece, and Dalton Knight. Many can feel the empathy of a challenging circumstance. To act on that emotion and step up to the kickstand is entirely different. We are grateful to all our heroes on this day.

Rodeo Riders MC Event For Amy

By: dpapabear On Saturday, October 12th, the Rodeo Riders MC located in the Wilmington area hosted an event to help provide some support for Amy Collins, a cancer survivor, to help offset some of her medical expenses. The day event was held at the Rodeo Riders MC clubhouse and field area. The event started midday and lasted into the night, featuring bike games, vendors, and music. The Rodeo Riders are a group of bikers that love promoting and taking part in the bike games all across the area. I met the some of the group members at the Boone Spring Rally earlier this year and was accepted into their family with open arms. They travel around to the different rallies and help or take part in the games. The Wilmington area Pink Fire Truck and crew was also on hand to show support and help with raising awareness of breast cancer. The event drew 70+ bikes and around 150 attendees, spectators, and participates from as far away Tennessee and Georgia, who shared the award for farthest away and then donated the money back to Amy. The game winners throughout the day received cash prizes and was all donated back to Amy. THANKS for each one! Great job for a small group of caring, giving people. If you are not familiar with the biker games, they include things like: slow race, keg roll, ride the plank, balloon toss,

waitress carry, pick’em up and put’em down, barrel race, wiener bite, jello/pudding wrestling, rollin corn hole toss, tire drag, honey I’m home, just to name a few of the most popular ones. They are a lot of fun to watch as well as take part in. Pictures are available online at FullThottleMagazine.com under events/pictures section. So check them out and watch for some of the bike games at events coming to your area or at rallies you attend. Have some fun!

Spokes & Jokes

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!

The Four Stages of Life: 1.) You believe in Santa Claus. 2.) You don’t believe in Santa Claus. 3.) You are Santa Claus. 4.) You look like Santa Claus. The recession in the USA has hit everybody really hard. My neighbor got a predeclined credit card in the mail. Wives are having sex with their husbands because they can’t afford batteries. CEO’s are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. A stripper was killed when her audience showered her with rolls of pennies while she danced. I saw a Mormon with only one wife. If the bank returns your check marked “Insufficient Funds,” you call them and ask if they meant you or them. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children’s names. My cousin had an exorcism but couldn’t afford to pay for it, and they re-possessed her! A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico. A picture is now only worth 200 words.

said the doc, “What happened?!” “Well,” he replied, “She choked.” Three nuns were attending an Army/Notre Dame football game. Three men were sitting directly behind. Because their habits were partially blocking the view, the men decided to badger the nuns hoping that they’d get annoyed enough to move to another area. In a very loud voice, the first guy said, “I think I’m going to move to Utah. There are only 100 nuns living there.” Then the second guy spoke up and said, “I want to go to Montana. There are only 50 nuns living there.” The third guy said, “I want to go to Idaho. There are only 25 nuns living there.” The Mother Superior turned around, looked at the men, and in a very sweet and calm voice said, “Why don’t you go to hell. There aren’t any nuns there!”

I pull you over, you’ll have your license ready.” Driver says, “I’m sorry, officer, I’m not from around here.” The trooper runs a check on the guy’s license, and he’s clean. He gives the guy his license back and walks around to the passenger side and taps on the window. The passenger rolls his window down, and the trooper smacks him with the nightstick. The passenger says, “What’d you do that for?” The cop says, “Just making your wishes come true.” The passenger says, “Huh?” The cop says, “I know that two miles down the road you’re gonna say, “I wish that sucker would’ve tried that stuff with me!”

A man’s wife is in the hospital and comatose. One day, while visiting her and sitting by her bed, he sees her breasts rising and falling as she breathes. Seeing this gets him a little frisky, so her sees no harm in having a little feel. So he reaches out, and give her right breast a little squeeze. As he does this, his wife lets out a slight moan. The man yells for the doctor, who rushes into the room. “Doctor, she let out a moan!” “That’s great!” said the doc, “It’s a good sign. Do you know what was happening when she made the noise?” “Well,” the man responds, “I was actually just having a little squeeze of her right breast.” “Interesting,” says the doc, “It must be the sexual stimulation. Try squeezing her left breast.” The man does as he is told, and she lets out a slightly louder moan. “Amazing!” says the doc, “Ok, I think you need to take things up a level. I think you should engage in oral sex. I know it is an intimate activity, so I’ll wait outside as you try.” The doc leaves the man to do his thing. After a few minutes, the doc hears the wife flatline, and the man comes walking out of the room with his head down. “What’s going on?” said the doc. “She died.” replied the man. “What?!”

Guy goes into an upscale bar in Charlotte, North Carolina where there’s a robot bartender. The robot says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Whiskey.” The robot brings back his drink and says to the man, “What is your IQ?” The guy says, “168.” The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration, and medical technology. The guy leaves, but he is curious, so he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Whiskey.” The robot brings back his drink and says to the man, “What is your IQ?” The guy says, “100.” The robot starts to talk about NASCAR, the Panthers, and UNC. The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. The robot bartender says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Whiskey.” The robot brings back his drink and says to the man, “What is your IQ?” The guy says, “Uh, about 50.” The robot leans in real close and says, “So…how…is…that…Obama… thing…working…for…you?” Two guys are driving through South Carolina when they get pulled over by a state trooper. The trooper walks up, taps on the window with his nightstick, the driver rolls down the window, and the trooper smacks him in the head with the stick. The driver says, “Why’d you do that? The trooper says, “You’re in South Carolina, son. When

The elderly priest, speaking to the younger priest, said, ‘’You had a good idea to replace the first four pews with plush bucket theater seats. It worked like a charm. The front of the church always fills first now.’’ The young priest nodded, and the old priest continued, ‘’And you told me adding a little more beat to the music would bring young people back to church, so I supported you when you brought in that rock ‘n roll gospel choir. Now our services are consistently packed to the balcony.’’ ‘’Thank you, Father,’’ answered the young priest. ‘’I am pleased that you are open to the new ideas of youth.’’ ‘’All of these ideas have been well and good,’’ said the elderly priest, ‘’But I’m afraid you’ve gone too far with the drive-thru confessional.’’ ‘’But, Father,’’ protested the young priest, ‘’my confessions and the donations have nearly doubled since I began that!’’ ‘’Yes, ‘’replied the elderly priest, ‘’and I appreciate that. But the flashing neon sign, ‘Toot ‘n Tell or Go to Hell’ cannot stay on the church roof!” If you EVER, EVER, find a woman who is beautiful, has a great body, is intelligent, gets things done on her own, drives a car well, has very little expectations, is not materialistic and loves you with crazy devotion, then assume, that the alcohol you have consumed is of the highest quality. At a wedding reception I recently attended someone said, “ All the married men please stand next to that person who has made your life so worth living.” The Bartender was nearly crushed to death!

Bikers For Boomers

By: Old Spook Aleshia Parrish, the manager of the Low Country Senior Center, on Riverland Drive in Charleston, hosted the Bikers For Boomers ride on October 19th. She informed me that although both the City of Charleston and St. Francis Health Care support the center, 90% or more of the funds required to run the programs and support the center are funded by contributions of the seniors that use the facility and the rest from outside donations. Expenses can exceed $300,000. Membership ranges from $50 - $85 depending on the services offered. Many free programs are available. Additional programs are fee based and are available to all members. 1500 members cover One third of operating costs. This ride is their first attempt at fund raising. The ride includes 2 scenic tours, one of Wanamaker Park in Summerville and the other at James Island Country Park. The parks were a great idea for a ride, they are scenic and there is no traffic! The after party was at Smokey Oak Tap Room on James Island. One of the highlights from a biker’s prospective was seeing Ron DeRosa’s 3-wheel Morgan Free Wheeler that was just introduced to the U.S. market. The original 4 wheel Morgan ceased to be imported in 2006 due to safety restrictions. The company switched to 3 wheels to avoid the airbag requirements of their sports car. The en-

gine, an S&S from Wisconsin called the X-Wedge, a completely redesigned 117 cubic inch v-twin. This imported model topped out at $50,000.

LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY NIGHT

By: Michael Frederick For the first time in 5 years, the Harley-Davidson Factory Demo Truck made its Western North Carolina stop at HarleyDavidson of Asheville. This unique opportunity couldn’t have been better. On November 1st-3rd, the weather was brisk and sunny all weekend long. The entire 2014 Harley-Davidson model line-up was available to test ride. 170+ motorcycle riders experienced 750+ demo rides. Free Hot dogs and chili were provided for lunch on Friday. Freedom Biker Church held a spaghetti lunch on Saturday, and a Cajun lunch on Sunday. The Jumpstart Experience was on hand providing people new to motorcycling the opportunity to feel what riding a Harley-Davidson is all about. Participants without a motorcycle endorsement or who have not ridden a motorcycle on the open road were able to take the controls of a motorcycle and shift through all the gears while being safely positioned in place on a special dynamometer. Harley-Davidson of Asheville’s Demo Days Weekend was a great ending to a beautiful riding season. As we come into the holiday season, drop by the store to get that special HarleyDavidson gift for you-know-who or yourself. Rocktoberfest At Smokin’ Harley-Davidson

By: Caroline Rocktoberfest was a fun event, held this year on October 26th, just in time for the Halloween festivities. It was also a good time to head down to Smokin’ Harley-Davidson to hang out and enjoy the day. There were lots of things to do and see with all the specials going on with the new 2014 models and accessories. Also, local business folk like tour guide Lynn Isenhower and The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer, Bob Karney were set up in the parking lot to talk to attendees. There was no shortage of food for hungry customers as David Nicoletta, aka Gene Simmons kept the burgers and dogs flying off the grill. As for music, Pat Kelly played DJ outside on the patio while the staff entertained riders dressed as their favorite rock star. On the inside, legend Marcus Horth, played acoustic guitar and sang all your favorite pop tunes. One of the many highlights of the day was the drawing each half-hour for some great prizes. Jerry Marshall and Mitchell Hunter won Harley watches, Kaitlin Ashworth received $100 cash, Michelle Vincler, Joey Young, and Tim Pope scored $150 Smokin’ gift cards, Alvin Duncan, Joe Smith, and Kenneth Solomon all took home $100 gas cards, and Mike Edwards added some art work to his man cave. The Winston-Salem HOG Chapter, who sold raffle tickets for the prizes, sponsored this. The grand prize was a 2013 Harley-Davidson Deluxe. At 3 pm it was announced that Jake Matthews from East Bend, NC held the winning ticket and had won a brand new bike! Congratulations to Jake and all the other winners who won prizes. The HOG Chapter would like to thank everyone that participated in this year’s raffle and helped raise money for these local charities: Second Harvest Food Bank, Kids Of Child-

hood Cancer, Battered Women’s Shelter Kernersville, Special Olympics, Marine Corps Toys For Tots, Horizons Children’s Home, and Wake Forest ALS foundation Now that the year is winding down and folks are getting ready for riding in 2014, I’m sure Smokin’ will have more events planned and listed on their website at SmokinHarley. com or The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruising’ Calendar at FullThrottleMagazine.com. Don’t wait for an event to visit Smokin’ Harley-Davidson at 3441 Myer Lee Drive, just off of I-40 at exit 10 in WinstonSalem, NC.

Your Gift For This Christmas

Greetings! Wow here we are again, December already! Doesn’t it seem like time is just flying by? If you have been out in the stores lately you can already see Christmas decorations are up and Santa is at the mall and the Black Friday sale papers are hitting the internet! All those merchants are gearing up and decorating and placing ads hoping that they will be the one to attract your business. Sometimes we get so excited by all the beautiful lights, parades, gift wrapping, family dinners, and office parties that we completely overlook what Christmas is all about. I must admit that I’m as guilty as the next person on this. We have four children and four grandchildren and a son-in-law and I like to bless them at Christmas! I’m pretty sure my husband, “Popcorn”, has told me every year for 32 years that I over do it. We love to give gifts to the ones we love. We all also love giving gifts to needy families so their children have toys for Christmas, but let’s not forget the greatest gift of all. Read in Luke 2:11: Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign

to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” This is your savior, your gift from God. We celebrate Christmas because of the birth of Christ! The 3 wise men in the bible brought gifts to celebrate his birth and we give gifts to celebrate his birth. How exciting is it to open a gift from someone who loves you? Someone who loves you so much you know they are going to give you something special and the best they have. This year God is reminding you of a very special gift he wrapped for you. His name is Jesus! Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. If you have not already done so, then I ask you to pray the biker’s prayer and accept this gift God is sending to you this Christmas season and celebrate your new life, eternal life with CHRIST! Merry Christmas, Robin St. John

What Is A Hero?

By: Stan Gordon A hero is defined by what he or she does in their allotted time here on this Earth. Have others benefited by your existence? Have lives been spared as a result of your actions? You decide who the heroes are. In the eyes of 23 children and their families, a large group of “heroes” assembled themselves on motorcycles on September 13th. They participated in a rally that runs throughout the year, and it raises much needed money, which is freely given to these kids whose needs are often astronomical in cost. Hometown Heroes (www.HTHeroes. org) has been in existence for 13 years. It is made up of a group of businessmen, law enforcement officers, firefighters, regular folks, and anyone who participates in the organization. These folks have several events throughout the year that raise the much needed funds to carry out their mission. With various poker runs almost every weekend, it was quick to see that there were ongoing needs that were not being met. This last run started out at Hendricks

Chevrolet and ran some 700 miles through North Carolina and ended up back at Iron Horse Motorcycles in Monroe, where the crowd cheered on their return with welcomed arms and food for all. As the holiday season rapidly approaches, remember that the Hometown Heroes will operate Christmas tree lots in Monroe and Charlotte. Again, all proceeds go to the watchcare of the children in this fine organization. We would like to thank the Mecklenburg County Sherriff’s Department, Monroe Police Department, NC Highway Patrol, Cabarrus County Sherriff’s Department, Union County Sherriff’s Department, and the Monroe City Fire Department for their participation in this year’s ride. Remember, heroes come in all kinds of wrappers. Thanks to all of you who donate throughout the year. May God bless each and every one of you.

Biketoberfest At Thunder Tower

By: WildThing The Preston Family and the staff at Thunder Tower HarleyDavidson held their fall festival, ‘3rd Annual Biketoberfest’ on October 12th and 13th. This was definitely a something for everyone party and they lucked out with beautiful weather on this fall weekend. Depending on your mode of transportation, the members of the Buffalo Soldiers riding club in their bright yellow shirts and black leather vests directed cars and trucks to the large unpaved lot in the rear of the dealership and motorcycles around the building to the paved lot on the west side. The whole area was bustling with activity when we arrived. The Thunders Riders H.O.G. group was registering folks who were interested in participating in one of the four rides out of the dealership that weekend. Motorcycles were pouring in and the vendors were putting the final touches on their booth set up. There were several food vendors, including an authentic German sausage vendor, that were cooking the first round of food and filling the air with wonderful aromas. My favorite vendor was the Budweiser Port-o-Bar, serving up chilled to perfection beverages and had four TV’s showing various sports shows. There was a huge tent set up on the service side of the building that housed the pre-owned bike sale, tables with parts and accessories, and racks and racks of Harley apparel at greatly discounted prices. As a way to showcase their talented mechanics, there was a section where the service guys had bikes on lifts and they were performing repairs and maintenance where the visitors could watch and interact with them. The vendor booths ringed the parking lots and ranged from pinstripers, kid’s biker wear, to Native American leather crafts, silver and stainless steel jewelry, motorcycle after-market products, race cars, giant trucks, and everything in between! They had several bands lined up and they were rocking out the

tunes on the outdoor stage. There were cornhole games set up with tournaments in progress. Inside the dealership an array of new 2014 motorcycles were on arranged in the showroom and interested folks could even take a demo ride. All the latest Harley gear for fall and winter was on display as well as the newest chrome to personalize your ride. In the spirit of the season, the customer lounge and the entrance way had spooky Halloween creatures on display, some complete with sound and action. A fireworks show was on the schedule for after dark on Saturday evening and more of the same for Sunday plus a car and bike show. These folks really do it up right! Check out the pictures on FullThrottleMagazine.com, as well as Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson’s website. They will really tempt you to attend next spring’s Days of Thunder or their fall Biketoberfest in 2014 at TTHD in Columbia, SC. See you there!

Dec 14 - Medicine Men

By: Alan Dockery Many of y’all are such big Smoke Out fans you’re already counting down the days to next year’s rally. Well, you can get your Smoke Out fix now and relive some of the wild times we had last year. The video is available. “Road 2 Smoke Out: the culture of the HORSE” from Choppertown producer, Zack Coffman and Greg “Edge” Scheuer, promoter of the Smoke Out Rally, shows what makes this such a special event. The film captures the experience of the original garage-built chopper rally and the culture of infamous biker magazine, The HORSE Backstreet Choppers. Edge and Zack have done a great job of showing a story about the worldwide network of real guys and girls who burn the midnight oil with wrenches in their hands to make the Smoke Out the unique rally it is. As soon as I got my copy, I popped a cold one and started watching. What a cool video! You’ll want to watch this one every time your biker buds are at the house and start talking about the Smoke Out. The film features: Amateur Chop Off, Drive-in Bike Show, Old School Drags, The Stampede, The Long Road, Minibike races, Bean’re, George-the-Painter, Jeff “Speed King” Cochran, Hammer, Englishman, Wet T-shirt Contest, Painted Ladies, and a host of chopper crazies! This motorcycle DVD includes adult themes, strong language, oh, and some boobs, plus a ton of bonus clips. This film is not rated. The main video runs for 45 minutes, plus there are 30 minutes of extras! “Road 2 Smoke Out: the culture of the HORSE” would make a great Christmas gift. Go to SmokeOutRally.com to view a short clip and purchase your copy for only $24.95.

Nazareth Children’s Home 4th Quarter Birthday Party

By: Darby L. Dillard What can I say that I haven’t said before? I hope this doesn’t get old, but thank you to each and everyone who participated in The 4th Quarter Nazareth Children’s Home Birthday Party! Our Rockwell group was there to help Miss Betty’s group since a few of our regulars were not able to make it this time. The Buffalo Troopers were out in full support as well, and did a great job as road captains for our ride to the home. The day was a little misty and the sky stayed overcast, but that’s my favorite way to ride anyway. As long as the steady rain stayed away, and it did, we were blessed Thank you to Speedway HD for supplying the burgers, hot dogs, buns, treats, and condiments, to the fine folks that provided the birthday cake, to all who helped set up and cook and clean, and to each and every person who helped with the wish list and who attended the event. If you have never been to Nazareth Children’s Home, I ask you to consider coming to one of our events to help put some joy into the life of a child who has had more to deal with than they should. The Nazareth Christmas Toy Run is coming up 12-14-13. We will meet at Speedway Harley-Davidson at 11am and ride to the home for a Christmas meal, music, and a visit from SANTA! To reserve a gift for a child, visit BikersWithACause.

com or call 704-995-4097. More information will be posted on FullThrottleMagazine.com, and in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. Pick up a copy every chance you get! Mark, Molly, Lincoln, Renea, and the staff do a great job of keeping the biker community informed in the Carolinas.

Bikers For Babies Poker Run

By: Marty Hall, Marketing Coordinator, Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson would like to thank everyone who helped support our fundraising efforts for the March of Dimes by participating in our inaugural Bikers For Babies Poker Run on September 14th. We had 135 riders participate on the run and thanks to Allstate Insurance, and their $2,000 sponsorship, we were able to hit our $5,000 event goal. We had all female winners for this event. Mindy Warren, of Conover, took first place and $200 gift card to BR H-D, Laura Burchette, of Mooresville, came in second winning a $100 gift card, and Judy Gefelein, of Maiden, took home a $50 gift card for worst hand! The Catawba Valley H.O.G. Chapter volunteered and prepared the BBQ for everyone when they arrived back for the After-Party on Blue Ridge H-D’s patio. Special thank you to Iron Thunder for sponsoring the entertainment for the party! We would also like to extend a thank you to McCroskey’s Irish Pub & Grill, IceHouse, Zippers, and Ryan’s Sports Bar for providing their location as stops on the run. We could not have produced such a great event without the help of everyone involved. According to Kayla Moose, March of Dimes Community Director, more that half a million babies are born too soon every year, and over 16,000 of them are here in NC. Through this event, other local events, and initiatives and the support of companies, the community, and individuals, we hope to improve the health of babies locally and beyond. This year the March of Dimes is celebrating it’s 75th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than starting a tradition with Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson to help give every baby a healthy start! Blue Ridge H-D hopes to raise an additional $2,000 for the March of Dimes. We will continue our fundraising efforts thru November, so please visit the dealership and purchase a $2 March of Dimes mobile to help us make our goal. Make it a great day!
