y the time you read this The Easyriders Bike Show Tour 2013 and CBA Lobby Day has come and gone and The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Fear Of February Party 15th Attempt, Almost A Tradition, Pre Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party And Oyster Roast and the Progressive International Motorcycle Show have passed into the annals of biker history and all we have to look forward to is Daytona and another season of riding the Carolinas and beyond. HELLO! Springtime is here! Sometimes we ride back into cold weather on our way home from Daytona, but as you well know, by then spring is well on its way in the Carolinas. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar is experiencing its annual spring explosion. There are many new events listed for you to attend. Pick some and ride! If you would like to post your charity, benefit, non-profit, or club event, go to FullThrottleMagazine.com > Cruisin’ Calendar and post it 24/7 for FREE. That also means that the 39th Annual CBA Swap Meet & Bike Show (March 23-24) at The Metrolina Expo is just around the corner. See cover and Cover Story. This event features vendors (of course!) with everything from used parts and leather to new accessories and even motorcycles for sale. There is always live music, a wet t-shirt contest, a tattoo contest, a bike show, food, (both days) and they recently added a full bar. What a great time to see friends and enjoy a great biker event. It goes without saying that this is a MUST attend event. March 29th is Good Friday the day that Christians worldwide remember the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. March 31st is Easter Sunday. For Christians, this is the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, His triumph over death, and His identity as the Living God. This historical fact is the foundation of our faith. No matter how you celebrate Easter, Rejoice – He Lives!

Charlotte CBA Spring Swap Meet And Bike Show By: Shannon Chavis Rights, Charlotte CBA Secretary/Membership Coordinator It is about that time again folks. Time to head out on your two wheels and roll into the best swap meet and bike show on the East Coast! Charlotte CBA Spring Swap Meet and Bike Show is March 23-24. This will be our 39th year of putting on the largest swap meet in the area. Hard economic times are putting a hurting on everyone’s wallet and the swap meet is a way to ease some of the strain on your wallet. We have over 495 vendors who sell anything you would need to keep your bike looking and running good. Need new pipes? A comfy new seat? Look no further than one of the parts vendors. Need something warm for those cool days of riding? Check out one of the clothing vendors. We have everything from lingerie to leathers. You can probably find some leather lingerie in one of the buildings if you look! Want to get your groove on? Come hang out in building A and listen to Alien Radio making their swap meet debut. Need some new ink? Head into building C and get tatted by some of the area’s premier tattooist. You will notice the majority of the vendor’s at the Charlotte CBA Swap Meet are local businesses that aren’t going to take your money and head out to who knows where. Most of our vendors live and have businesses within a few hours of the Charlotte Metro area. We like keeping our neighbors’ businesses going and helping each other when we can. After all isn’t that the biker’s way? Want to see some cool bikes? Head over to the bike show building and have a look around. Think you’re bike is cool? Enter it into the bike show for a chance to show off your baby

and win a trophy. We accept ride in bike show entries on Saturday morning. Do you have a great tattoo you are dying to show off to rowdy bikers? We have a tattoo contest on Sunday. Ladies are you hot and want to show off? We have wet t-shirt contests, too. Did I mention the full bar & great food? Charlotte CBA Swap Meet & Bike Show has something for every biker out there! Another great thing about the Charlotte CBA Swap Meet & Bike Show is we let anyone in. No need to hang up your vests or jackets to hide your patches at our show. We only ask that you keep the non-human pets at home and leave all weapons behind. Minors must be accompanied by their parents and will be asked to vacate the building during the wet t-shirt contests. So mark your calendars for March 23-24 and come on out to the Metrolina Expo Center at 7100 Statesville Road in Charlotte, NC (28269). Admission is $12 for 1 day or $20 for a two-day pass. We offer an Early Bird Admission Special (2 for the price of 1) on Sunday from 10am-noon. A limited number of last minute vendor sites maybe available. Contact Rick Nail at 704-577-1546 for vendor information and registration. While you are at the Charlotte CBA Swap Meet & Bike Show stop in at Member Services in building A and sign up to become a NC CBA member. We will be running a special for anyone signing up during the show! Join us for the fun, and then help us fight for biker’s rights!

Quotable Quote

“The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of the republic; since it offers a strong moral check against usurpation and arbitrary power of the rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.” Justice Joseph Story, 1833

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Fear Of February Party

15th Attempt, Almost A Tradition, Pre Daytona, Valentine’s Day Party And Oyster Roast

mount, start, and shift up through the gears under supervision in a controlled environment. The people loved it! They were busy all day and claimed to demonstrate the “Jump Start” to over 40 people while they were there. You ain’t never been to an event where they were giving away free samples of liquor, have you? Chris Hollifield of Carolina Distillery out of Lenoir, NC was there with his Carriage House Apple Brandy, a strawberry, and a clear. HELL YEA! See how they do it at www. youtube.com/watch?v=IBN26HIdFTM. We planned on playing some bike games, but there were so many motorcycles in the parking lot that there wasn’t room. Jeff Gates Band and Tyler Hatley provided the music “Southern Style” and we had ice cold beer served by beautiful beer tub girls, too.

By: Mark Infield We bill this party as an attempt because one year we tried, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we were not able to have it. We also add the disclaimer about the weather usually being bad because sometimes it is! This year the weather could not have been better. The upper 50’s and sunshine (and good advertising) encouraged over 700 motorcyclists to ride to Horsefeathers Roadhouse in Sherrills Ford, NC. Many remarked that they never knew Horsefeathers was there, but now they do. We have already received reports of people who returned the next weekend. They sent me pictures of the snow that fell that day! Like the owner, Tim Anderton said, “Timing is everything!” Personally, I think God smiled on us February 9th. I love this place and the only thing better than the place itself is the staff. Add The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff, The Jeff Gates Blues Band, and 700 bikers and we had it goin’ on! Oh! The oysters were out of the Gulf (remember the BP spill?) and they were undoubtedly the nicest that we have ever had. “The Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer”, Bob Karney sponsored the oysters and the guys steamed them and served them up. The bikers ate them as fast as they were served. Likewise with the wings that US. Foods provided. Special thanks to Tim & Kim of A&M Crane and Rigging for the use of the grill, help cooking the wings and shuttle service to the hotels. Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson set up their tent out front and provided a Harley experience for non riders with their “Jump Start” program. It consisted of a Sportster securely tethered on a trailer with a roller under the back wheel to allow a person to

As part of our tradition we gave away a diamond heart pendant from Hayes Jewelers “The King Of Diamonds” in Lexington, NC (remember the Valentine’s Day part) to Toby Beckelhimer of Statesville who smiled real big and promised to give it to his sweetheart. World Class Powersports of High Point, NC donated a full motorcycle service and Tina Rowland

of Taylorsville was delighted because her bike needed one. The 50 LG Flat Screen Plasma TV went home with Marc Doyle of Sherrils Ford. By the end of the day, everyone was smiling, but the fun wasn’t over yet. We had several real good burnouts and as the parking lot cleared it made room for the beer chugging contest (Can you say FREE BEER?) and some bike games. John “Crash Mashburn of Double Deuce Cycles in Hickory and Jen LeVine of Cornelius were the 2013 champions and took home an engraved beer mug and 20 Horse Bucks to spend inside.

It was hard to determine a winner in the “Hit ‘er In The Shi++er contest, but everyone had fun including “Little Orifice Annie. This is corn hole Full Throttle Style! You just kinda had to be there. Ya know what I mean? Thanks to all of the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff and friends for all the help. Likewise for our sponsors A&M Crane & Rigging, Bob Karney “Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer, US. Foods, Jeff Gates Blues Band & Tyler Hatley, Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson, Carolina Distilery, and Tim, Adam, and the staff at Horsefeathers Roadhouse. Thanks to the Iredell County Sherriff’s Deputies and the NC Highway Patrol. It just wouldn’t be a biker party without them “just doing their JOB. And, last but not least, the people of the trailer park who complained about the noise. You know it was a good biker party if you have the neighbors calling 911 and the cops showing up! I hope that you had a good time at The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Fear Of February Party and if you were not able to make it this year, we look forward to seeing you next year. By: Scott Wicker Due to family obligations during the Christmas Holidays, the Storm Riders took time on Saturday, January 19th to get together and plan a few outings during 2013. The Storm Riders consist of 30 to 75 enthusiasts who plan and just ride throughout the year. There are no dues, no officers, and no official meetings as such. The group started as just a few friends getting together and taking day trips on weekends. Over time, friend told friends that told other friends and through E-mails and Facebook rides are planned during the peak riding months. Trips have been made to the Outer Banks and west to Shatley Springs and destinations in between as well. People with the group come from Burlington, Rockingham, Raleigh, and parts of South Carolina and Florida, too. Plans are in the works for a trip to Pigeon Forge on Memorial Day weekend. Oh yeah! One guess where they came up with the name Storm Riders? In the beginning, almost every time the group got together to make a trip, you got it, it rained, stormed, and they had not so ideal weather. Didn’t Stop Them! The Storm Riders would like to thank Chuck and Tonya of the Pit Pass Lounge for hosting such a great event. Big thanks also to Casual Catering for the great food served as well. Thanks to all the enthusiasts of the Storm Riders for their hospitality and having us at a great gathering. Remember! Ride Safe! Check with the Weather Channel before you leave!

LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY NIGHT

By: Doc Ski, Legislative Director, CBA/ABATE of NC February 6th found approximately seventy CBA members at the official CBA “Constituent Lobby Day” event at the North Carolina General Assembly. We met at the Clarion Hotel in Downtown Raleigh for a formal briefing on the CBA Agenda for this year provided by Paul Wilms, Legislative Coordinator of the Raleigh Chapter. As usual, Paul did an excellent job of preparing our members with all of the information they needed to meet with their elected officials. After the initial briefing, members left to meet with their elected representatives. CBA’s official Agenda for 2013 is comprehensive and contains several issues that are administrative, as well as some legislative issues. Our focus at the briefing was on two legislative issues for which we have bill sponsors. The first issue was the Freedom of Choice Act (HB 109) sponsored by Representative John Torbett (R - Gaston). This bill will allow an operator or passenger of a motorcycle to ride helmet-free in North Carolina if they are over 18 years of age, have $10,000 of accident insurance, and have at least one year of riding experience, or have successfully completed the Basic Rider safety course offered by the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Program. Read the bill here http://goo.gl/81a3Z . The second issue was a Motorcycle Safety Act. A similar bill to this one was passed in 2012, however, during committee negotiations they removed the misdemeanor penalties and made it a simple infraction to violate the right of way of a motorcyclist. If passed, this bill will make it a misdemeanor to violate the right of way of a motorcyclist. After meeting with their elected officials, many of the members returned to the briefing room for a de-briefing by Doc Ski. Many positive responses were revealed. We have several of our legislators who are willing to co-sponsor either one or both of our bills. All in all, it was an excellent day in Raleigh for CBA and our efforts will benefit all riders in NC. This year may have been the largest attendance in many years, and we look forward to having even more participation next year. Hope to see you there! CDC Study Still Stirs The Pot

By: Matt Danielson, Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group On January 28, 2013, an article appeared in the Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina. It cited the recent Centers For Disease Control (CDC) study as proof that motorcycle helmets should be required for all riders. As many of you know, that study is a collection of conclusions that does not provide the basis for such conclusions. When we look at the actual information available to us, we see that the conclusions of the study do not match the factual data. Here are the facts concerning mandatory motorcycle helmet laws vs. laws which allow adults to make their own choice:

1) States that allow adults to make their own choice do not see higher motorcycle fatality rates. According to data from both the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA), between 2008 & 2010, 20 states and the District of Columbia (roughly 40% of U.S. jurisdictions) accounted for 40% of total motorcycle registrations and 42 % of total motorcycle fatalities nationwide, even though they had mandatory motorcycle helmet laws. The other 30 states (60% of U.S. jurisdictions) which allowed adult riders to choose whether to wear a helmet accounted for 60% of total motorcycle registrations and 58% of motorcycle fatalities. (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/departments/nrd30/ ncsa/STSI/USA%20WEB%20REPORT.HTM & http:// www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/tables/12s1098. pdf) 2) Of the 14,283 motorcycle fatalities, which occurred nationwide between 2008 and 2010, 8,226, or 57.6%, were wearing helmets when they were killed even though 60% of jurisdictions allowed adults to make their own choice. (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/departments/nrd-30/ncsa/ STSI/USA%20WEB%20REPORT.HTM) 3) States that allow adults to choose whether to wear a motorcycle helmet do not see higher motor vehicle insurance rates. Conversely, states that have mandatory motorcycle helmet laws do not experience lower motor vehicle

insurance rates. Insure.com studied motor vehicle insurance rates. Of the top five most expensive states for motor vehicle insurance in 2012, four had mandatory motorcycle helmet laws. Of the five least expensive states for motor vehicle insurance, only one had a mandatory motorcycle helmet law. To take it even further, only two of the ten cheapest states for motor vehicle insurance have mandatory helmet laws. The other eight states allow adults to choose for themselves or, as in the case of Iowa, simply have no law at all. (http://www.insure.com/car-insurance/ car-insurance-rates.html) 4) States that allow adults to choose whether to wear a motorcycle helmet do not experience increased health care related costs. There is simply no proof of this. In fact, in 2010, the Kaiser Family Foundation conducted a study of daily inpatient hospital expenses by state. Of the twelve most expensive states for daily inpatient hospital expenses, seven had mandatory helmet laws. Of the twelve least expensive for daily inpatient hospital expenses, only four had mandatory helmet laws. The other eight states allow adults to choose for themselves. (http://statehealthfacts.org/comparemaptable.jsp?ind=273&cat=5) 5) The political reality is that if what those who oppose adult choice say is correct, the nationwide trend would be to put mandatory helmet laws into place, not remove them. As of April of 2012, Michigan became the 31st state to allow adult riders to make their own choice when it comes to their own safety. Once the federal government removed the highway fund penalty for states that did not have a mandatory helmet law, more and more states have gone back to trusting the individual citizen to make their own choice. This would not be the case if doing so was costing those states money, and creating a blood bath on their highways. The 31 states that have looked critically at the factual data have come to the conclusion that their citizens can be trusted to make decisions for themselves in this area. Today, only a minority of states do not trust their adult citizens to make choices for themselves when it comes to motorcycle helmets. It is about time that they join the majority. Their citizens should demand it. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson Rated The Number One Dealership In North Carolina

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – On Thursday, February 14, 2013, HarleyDavidson Motor Company announced its 2012 Gold Bar & Shield Award recipients. Making that list, and the only North Carolina dealership to make the list, is Smokin’ Harley-Davidson in Winston-Salem. The Gold Bar & Shield Award, also known as the Circle of Excellence, is measured on a number of criteria, including customer satisfaction, service and sales excellence. Only a fraction of country’s Harley-Davidson dealerships are selected for this prestigious award each year. “This is such an awesome award to win for our customers, the community and for the staff members as it embodies what we do here at Smokin’,” stated Ray Perry, Owner and General Manager. “We were rated in the top 15 Harley-Davidson stores nationally, and you just can’t beat the fact that we are the

number one Harley-Davidson dealership in the state. We pride ourselves on having the best customer service in the state and with over 300 new and pre-owned Harley-Davidsons on site; we have the largest inventory in North Carolina.” This is the second award that Smokin’ Harley-Davidson has received in the past two months. Recently, Dealernews announced winners of the 22nd Annual Top 100 Dealerships Awards, the motorcycle and powersports industries largest, longest running and most prestigious retail competition. Thirty-six states and one Canadian Province were represented in this year’s top 100. There are over 17,000 powersports dealers in North America and making the list for 2012 was Smokin’ Harley-Davidson.

Easyriders 2013 Bike Show Tour

By: Mark Infield This year the EasyRiders Bike Show Tour rolled into Charlotte, NC on January 26th. The format was shortened to a one day event. I am not on the event planning end, but this worried me from a vendor and spectator standpoint. I thought that if they cut it back to one day it would also limit the spectators that could make it to the show. To top it off there was a winter storm scheduled to hit Friday and If you live in the Carolinas, you know what crazy reactions come from mentioning the “S” word (snow) or the “BI” word (black ice). We got there around noon on Friday and got in the building, found our spot and put out all of our “stuff” for the booth. It was very low key and the hall was very empty by past standards. I was worried that if the roads froze over that people would not be able to get in early Saturday to set up for the show. We did our thing and headed to the hotel for some supper and cocktails in

the bar. We partied hardy, but it still ended up being an early night compared to previous years. The next morning we had some breakfast and headed over to the Charlotte Convention Center. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the hall to find it glistening with chrome and many vendors that were not there the night before. At 10 am they opened the gates and it was wide open with wall-to-wall spectators ogling the bikes and cars on display. There was a steady stream of people stopping by The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine booth to visit and sign NC Helmet Law Repeal petitions and weekly newsletter requests. We saw many old friends that visit our booth every year and some new folks, too. Some of our staff were not able to be there due to road conditions, but me and Wild Thing handled it! They had many nice custom bikes. I took a picture of every

one of them and all the winners plus a group photo. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine was the only local motorcycle magazine represented. You can view them at FullThrottleMagazine.com. Download them for free. Call me if you need a high res image. They are free, too. Kendall Johnson, Paul Yafee and a host of other builders were on hand to show you their imagination and abilities. Mike and Angie Bullard from Full Throttle Saloon were on hand for photo ops and to sign autographs along with “Opie” from the TV series Sons Of Anarchy. The Purrfect Angelz were on stage struttin’ their stuff and music was provided by “Low Life” and “Cowboy” a Kid Rock Tribute Band. The event opened up with a guy who did a darn fine job on Jimmie Hendrix’s Star Spangled Banner even if it was right handed. The judges did their due diligence and announced nearly 70 winners and presented them with trophies. Some got cash and an invitation to the Columbus (Ohio) Invitational. We have pictures of every one of them and a group picture available at FullThrottleMagazine.com for FREE. Again, if you would like a high res image, just contact me and we will gladly supply one of your moment for FREE. After the show we headed up to Easy Eddie’s in Huntersville for the “After Party”. That place was jamming to the tunes of Common Ground. We had some good food and some ice cold beverages before we toddled off to our motel. It was a great show, a great turnout and the beginning of the Carolinas’ 2013 riding/event season. If you were there, you will probably join me in thanking the Easyriders Bike Show Tour for stopping in Charlotte, NC. Here is a list of the winners starting with PEOPLE’S CHOICE: BEST OF SHOW: Joey Hensley/Backyard Customs, Winston-Salem, NC - 2000 H-D Electra Glide, Odell Jenkins, Jr., Hemingway, SC - 2012 H-D Street Glide, Richard Wright, Lexington, KY - 2004 Fat Boy Softail. Next “BIG” Eventht Is April 4 Speakeasy Bike Night

By: dpapabear Recently I had the opportunity to test ride the Yamaha Stratoliner S courtesy of Midway Yamaha in Thomasville, NC. The Stratoliner comes in two styles, the S and the Deluxe. The Stratoliner S that I rode comes with a key lockable/removable windshield and leather encased saddlebags and a passenger backrest. The bike stretches out over a 67.5-inch wheelbase, aluminum frame with a near 50/50 weight distribution on the front and rear wheels giving a balanced feel and light handling unlike most other full size cruisers. It’s powered by an aircooled, 113-cubic inch V-twin, (1900 cc, 97 hp) fuel injected powerhouse that responds quickly and smoothly. Being a HD Ultra rider for last 14 years I was impressed at the effortlessness ease of cornering and the light, balanced feel of the machine. It was almost as if it were handling on its own. It is also equipped with a new “Slipper Clutch” requiring 20% less pull operation effort than most, and that sure felt good on my fingers. This model is decked out in lots of chrome for good looks and style as well. The Deluxe model comes with paint matched hard bags and a wind-shearing fairing complete with Garmin Zumo 665 GPS navigation, Bluetooth, Sirius XM satellite radio capability, iPod jack, speakers and a shorty windscreen and numerous other Custom Star Accessories to dress it in your own style. Fit was great as far as the handlebars and floorboards go, it just seemed like I was sitting on top of the bike higher than I am accustomed to. Not leaning forward or backward, just higher. But then all one needs is to select a lower cut saddle from their selection and adjust the fit to suit yourself. Pricing begins at $17,590 and overall, the Yamaha Stratoliner S was great feeling ride. So stop by Midway YamahaSuzuki 1335 National Highway in Thomasville, NC and see Shane or Susan and check out one for yourself! If you want to give them a call, their number is 336-885-5796. Check them out on the web at MidwayYamahaSuzuki.com. As always, whatever you ride, ride safe and have fun!

10th Annual East Cooper ABATE Oyster Roast

By: PanHeadRon, Events Cord. & Proud East Cooper Member On Sunday, February 10th, East Cooper ABATE held their 10th Annual Oyster Roast benefiting Motorcycle Rights in South Carolina. The event started at l:30pm at Richard’s Bar and Grill. Due to the large crowds from prior years changes were made to accommodate again the large number of bikers. With 450 bikers and friends attending the event motorcycles lining the side of Hwy 17. As in the past, this year featured all you can eat oysters for a $10 admission. There was also other food provided by Richard’s Bar and Grill. The Jefferson Coker Band provided live music. They band rocked, the chics were dancing, and the best guitar solos this side of the Mississippi were heard!! The highlight of the day, besides the fellowship of bikers from all over the state and beyond, was the People’s Choice Bike Show, which included a women’s division along with the men’s. A beer stein was awarded to first through third place with the inscription of “East Cooper ABATE People’s Choice Bike Show 2013”. Done in old school fashion, the 1st, 2nd, and

3rd place winners were asked to bring their motorcycles to the front of the stage for all to see. Charlie Closson took 1st Place over all with his 2004 Road Glide. Many Lowcountry ABATE members were there to recruit new members and to let people know the real purpose behind ABATE of SC is to expose motorcycle riders to the positive impact ABATE of SC holds in this state. Many thanks to all the East Cooper members and fellow Lowcountry chapters for their support and hard work to make this event such a success. The event committee has been a tireless leader for all of East Cooper ABATE events and this chapter would not be what it is today without their hard work and dedication to the freedom of the road. Hope to see you at next year’s oyster roast.

Men’s Biker Show Winners: 1st Place: Charlie Colsson - 2004 Road Glide, 2nd Place: Bob Curtice - 1955 Panhead, 3rd Place: Chris S3 Shaggy Roberts - 1976 Shovelhead Bagger. MARCH 30 - EASTER PARTY On February 2nd, the JWL Girls showed up at Easy Eddie’s Bar and Grill with 7 beautiful ladies to show how tough female Jell-O wrestling can be. In a very professional Jell-O wrestling pit 8 girls, including one walk, on tugged and battled it out, working their way through the brackets until a final winner was declared. Ellen, the walk on, won the whole thing! During a break in the action, Pub Runners MC, a local bike club, had a few of their guys try their luck by taking the on girls. However, they were no match for the girls, who quickly showed the guys how tough they were. Easy Eddie’s will be hosting more events like this in the future so check out the new Facebook page: Easy Eddie’s Bar And Grill. Benefit For Lee Dunham

By Kathy Johnson On Saturday, February 16th, Crazy Shots in Hillsborough, NC hosted a benefit for Lee Dunham, who is suffering with mouth cancer. I guess it would be more accurate to say they co hosted it with the help from The Local Bar in Apex. Some of you may remember it being called The Little Bar in the past. We enjoyed seeing some of the old faces from Apex. With both bars working together it was a great turn out. Even though the snow had been coming down since I woke up that morning, it was a pretty day and it kept no one away. It was $5 to get in at Crazy Shots and that included your BBQ or your BBQ Chicken plate. In case you have been under a rock for the past 5 years and didn’t have a clue, the BBQ was cooked with Thunderbolt South sauce and it was very good! Look for it in your grocery store and if they do not carry it, ask them to order some. I must give a yell out to Wanda for always going out of her way make her famously good Deviled Eggs. They also had a 50/50 that went back to Lee. If I am not mistaken, people were putting Lee’s name on their tickets! Bill Lyerly (http://BillLyerly.com) & guest played great music for the crowd. Over eight hundred dollars was raised for Lee. If you did not get to donate and would like to, please put it in an envelope and drop it off at Crazy Shots. They will make sure it gets to Lee. Crazy Shots would like to thank every one for attending and supporting Lee.

Vintage Top Fuel Motorcycle Display At zMAX 4 Wide Nationals

By: Mary Lou Brewton Frank Spittle, North Carolina veteran motorcycle drag racer, is pleased to announce a collaboration with zMAX Dragway at 6570 Bruton Smith Boulevard in Concord, NC to bring a Vintage Top Fuel Motorcycle display at NHRA’s The 4 Wide Nationals, April 19-21, 2013. Frank started drag racing bikes in 1963 at age 19 and raced until he was 40, for a total of 21 years. His first Top Fuel bike was a Harley in 1969. Spittle says, “The bikes will all be displayed under one roof in the Pro pits so space is limited and this will be for bikes built before aftermarket engine cases and heads and therefore keeps it vintage. These vintage beasts should be 30 year old or older supercharged single engine bikes and multi-engine bikes. This replaces the display that was to be at Bowling Green, Ky. next June.” He goes on to say, “The Pro Stock Motorcycles will be racing there that weekend so several veterans will already be at the track. Anyone with a bike that meets requirements and wants to display will receive complementary VIP credentials for the weekend but must be pre-registered. Everyone is invited to the event to watch fabulous NHRA racing, FAST Pro Stock bikes compete and a great vintage show to boot. Don’t miss it.” To register for the Vintage Top Fuel Motorcycle display please call (704) 892 8008 or write: Frank Spittle, PO Box 490, Cornelius, N.C. 28031 or e-mail SpittleF@bellsouth.net. , 5,'(

Different logo, same great race. That’s Rockingham Dragway track owner Steve Earwood’s mantra for the AMRA Nitro Harley Nationals to be contested at THE ROCK, located in Rockingham, NC October 11-13. It took little time for American Motorcycle Racing Association (AMRA) President Marty Vandenheuvel to step in after the All-Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) announced that it was ceasing operations. The AHDRA had sanctioned a fall race at THE ROCK for 25 years. “Rockingham Dragway (RockinghamDragWay.com) has a rich history with Harley-Davidson and Harley racers,” Earwood said, “And that relationship won’t end with the demise of the AHDRA. Although we’re saddened by AHDRA’s plight, we’re looking forward to many more years of success with Marty and Jayne.” The AMRA event will feature the popular Top Fuel and Pro Fuel classes as well as AMRA Pro Gas classes and racing for a variety of sportsman titles. Doug Horne of Aberdeen, Md., the AHDRA Champion the last two years in both Top Fuel and Pro Fuel, has been installed as the early favorite in the Nitro Harley Nationals, the last of eight races in the AMRA series (AMRAonline.com). Other likely Top Fuel entrants are Larry “Drums” Brancaccio of Nutley, NJ, former champion Takeshi Shigematsu of Iyo, Ehime, Japan and local favorite Tommy Grimes of Pfafftown, NC, who will ride for Harley Hall-Of-Famer Ray Price of Raleigh, NC. In addition to the change in designation for the event, Earwood announced that the Johnny Vickers Hawaya Racing Nitro Riding School will hold classes at Rockingham in advance of the race.

Jim McClure Inducted Into NC Drag Racing Hall of Fame Story and photo by Alan Dockery The first Saturday in February was cold, so it was a good day to attend the North Carolina Drag Racing Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. It always warms my heart to hang out with some of my Harley drag racing friends. This year was special for us since Jim McClure was being inducted into the Hall Of Fame. This is the seventh induction ceremony for members of the NC Drag Racing Hall Of Fame and was held during the 11th Annual Shriners Drag Racing and Hot Rod Expo at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Expo is the biggest of its kind in the South, featuring cars, motorcycles, vendors, and more. “I’m proud to induct Jim McClure, better known as “The Judge”, into the hall of fame,” said Jim Turner, who oversees the hall of fame. “Jim was by far the most competitive and wining Harley drag racer for almost 15 years. He set the standard and everyone was trying to catch him.” Phyllis McClure, center, with friends and family Jim was from Virginia, but very well known in North at the NC Drag Racing Hall of Fame induction ceremony Carolina. “Jim ran at almost all the tracks in North Carolina and raced here more than he did anywhere other than national sport. Spokes & Jokes

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!

First Date conversation: Conversation starts with the lady asking the man if he drinks. Lady: “Do you drink?” Man: “Yes” Lady: “How much a day?” Man: “3 six packs” Lady: “How much per six pack?” Man: “about $10.00.” Lady: “And how long have you been drinking?” Man: “15 years.” Lady: “So 1 six pack cost $10.00 and you have 3 six packs a day which puts your spending each month at $900. In one year, it would be $10,800 correct?” Man: “Correct.” Lady: “If in 1 year you spend $10,800 not accounting for inflation, the past 15 years puts your spending at $162,000 correct?” Man: “Correct.” Lady: “Do you know that if you hadn’t drank, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 15 years, you could have now bought a Ferrari?” Man: “Do you drink?” Lady: “No.” Man: “Where’s your f#@king Ferrari?”

window “I want to open a damn checking account.” The astonished woman replies, “I beg your pardon, sir. I must have misunderstood you. What did you say?” “Listen up, damn it. I said I want to open a damn checking account now!” “I’m very sorry sir, but that kind of language is not tolerated in this bank.” The teller leaves the window and goes over to the bank manager to inform him of her situation. The manager agrees that the teller does not have to listen to that foul language. They both return to the window and the manager asks the old biker, “Sir, what seems to be the problem here?” “There is no damn problem,” the man says. “I just won 50 million dollars in the damn lottery and I want to open a damn checking account in this damn bank!” “I see, “ says the manager, “and is this bitch giving you a hard time?”

Libertarian, touched him and said, “For your kindness, you are healed.” The Libertarian felt his back straightening, and grateful to the Lord, he raised his hands, praised the Lord, and walked out the door. Then, Jesus walked towards the Democrat, just smiling. (I don’t care what party you like, this one’s funny!) The Democrat jumped up and yelled, “Don’t touch me! I’m collecting disability.”

Two blond men find three grenades, and they decide to take them to a Police Station. One asked: “What if one explodes before we get there?” The other says: “We’ll lie and say we only found two.”

The new Texas preacher was a dead ringer for Conway Twitty, the country music singer. One day he decided to visit some of the church members who hadn’t been to service lately. He went to the first lady’s house and knocked on the door. When she answered the door, she said, “Conway Twitty!” “No ma’am,” he replied. “I’m your new pastor, and I came to have prayer with you.” So she said come right on in. He visited several more homes, and everyone thought he was Conway Twitty. Then he came to a young widow woman’s house on the end of the street. She was taking a shower at the time, so she just wrapped a towel around her and opened the door. When she saw her caller, she threw up her hands, which allowed the towel to fall to the floor. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed. “It’s Conway Twitty!” And the preacher said. “Hello, Darlin’!” After both suffering from depression for a while, the wife and me were going to commit suicide yesterday. But strangely enough, once she killed herself, I started to feel a lot better. So I thought, “F- it, soldier on!” A nasty old biker named “TAZ” walks into a bank and says to the woman at the teller

A woman phoned her blonde neighbor man and said: “Close your curtains the next time you & your wife are having sex. The whole street was watching and laughing at you yesterday.” To which the blonde man replied: “Well the joke’s on all of you because I wasn’t even at home yesterday.” A Republican man in a wheelchair entered a restaurant one afternoon and asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. He looked across the restaurant and asked, “Is that Jesus sitting over there?” The waitress nodded “yes,” so the Republican requested that she give Jesus a cup of coffee, on him. The next patron to come in was a Libertarian, with a hunched back. He shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down, and asked the waitress for a cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, “Is that Jesus, over there?” The waitress nodded, so the Libertarian asked her to give Jesus a cup of hot tea, “My treat.” The third patron to come into the restaurant was a Democrat on crutches. He hobbled over to a booth, sat down and hollered, “Hey there, honey! How’s about gettin’ me a cold mug of Budweiser?” He too looked across the restaurant and asked, “Isn’t that God’s boy over there? The waitress nodded, so the Democrat directed her to give him a cold beer. “On my tab,” he said loudly. As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Republican, touched him and said, “For your kindness, you are healed.” The Republican felt strength come back into his legs, got up, and walked out the door, thankful to Jesus. Jesus passed by the

My missus packed my bags, and as I walked out the front door, she screamed, “I wish you a slow and painful death, you bastard!” “Oh,” I replied, “so now you want me to stay!” George and Aggie lived on the cove just past Lewiston Tickle out on the peninsula. It was early winter and the lower portion of the cove had frozen over. George asked Aggie if she would walk across the frozen part of the cove to the general store and get him some smokes and beer. She asked him for some money, but he told her, “Nah, just put it on our tab, old man Stacey won’t mind.”
So Aggie walked across the ice, got the smokes and beer at the store and then walked back home across the cove. When she got home and gave George his smokes and his beer, she asked him, “George, you always tell me not to run up the tab at Stacey’s store. Why didn’t you just give me some money?”
George replied, “Well, Aggie, girl, I didn’t want to send you out there with cash when I wasn’t sure how thick the ice was yet!” An old man and woman were married for many years. Whenever there was a confrontation, yelling could be heard deep into the night. The old man would shout, “When I die, I will dig my way up and out of the grave and come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!” Neighbors feared him. The old man liked the fact that he was feared. To everyone’s relief, he died of a heart attack when he was 98. His wife had a closed casket at the funeral. After the burial, her neighbors, concerned for her safety, asked “Aren’t you afraid that he may indeed be able to dig his way out of the grave and haunt you for the rest of your life?” The wife said, “Let him dig. I had him buried upside down, and I know he won’t ask for directions.”

We go on prayer rides and have rides to benefit the community and needy families. We minister at bike rallies and spread the good news of the Lord.

Totally Committed Weekly Worship Schedule: Sunday Morning - 11:00 am Sunday Evening - 6:00 pm Wednesday Evening - 7:00 pm

If you are interested in Sons of Thunder coming out to minister or have a need for a prayer ride, contact: Jeff Looney, Pastor/President (336) 302-3986 Dallas Street, Vice President Winning The Lost At All Costs!! (336) 215-4664

Bros & Bro-ettes

I know it is still winter, but have you noticed the days are getting longer? That means, at least as far as I’m concerned, that good ole warm weather is on the way. Cold days are rough on these old bones. I was in Tampa back in January and it was in the 80’s every day. All of us old people were really enjoying it! It also means nicer riding days ahead with lots of swap meets, open houses, and rally’s to attend, including Daytona this month. I hope you took time during the winter to prepare for the coming busy season. Also this month we look forward to Easter Sunday on the 31st, as we celebrate the most awesome event ever, the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I hope you have taken time to prepare for HIM. The truth is some see the signs of the warmer days coming and the busy riding season ahead but have done nothing to prepare for it. Oil not changed, filters not changed, tires not inflated, battery not checked. Oh, there have been a lot of plans made to go riding, a lot of talking, but no actual preparation on the main thing, the motorcycle! The truth is many see the Easter season and Easter Sunday as just another holiday or spring break. Many talk about Jesus and the Resurrection but are doing nothing to prepare for it. Hearts not changed, Lives or lifestyles not changed, mind not renewed in the Word. Many have no plans to attend Easter Worship Services. Yet a lot of talk about heaven, about God, about religion, but no actual preparation of the main thing, YOU!

The fact of the life, death, and life of Jesus, and the empty tomb on Easter morning, is the most awesome event ever recorded, that has ever happened, that will ever happen! And it was for us, His children. Have you made preparations or are you just doing some talking? Easter really happened so we can have eternal life, but to do so you must truly accept the truth of Jesus crucified, dead and buried, and now alive for evermore! Pray the Biker’s Prayer on this page and mean it in your heart as you make preparation for your next ride! HAPPY EASTER
