In November, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving stand out on the Full Throttle calendar. It is a month to recall and count our blessings and give thanks. With the turmoil in our world right now, it seems that our veterans should be at the top of that list. In the news, we only get a glimpse of how life is in other countries around the world, but it would be hard to miss the contrast between their situations and ours. Political unrest, rebellion, and outright war seem to dominate the landscape. Contrast that to living in the USA and we seem to be doing pretty well. Just remember that it is our fighting men and women who continue to secure our tranquility at home with their day-to-day commitment to our country and its lifestyle. God bless them all! And just to drive the point home, they pledge their lives for way less than many of us earn in our civilian jobs, so remember to thank them, not only on Veterans Day, but as often as you have opportunity. At Thanksgiving we re emphasizes our traditional values; God’s abundant blessings on our land and our families. The pilgrims came to America to escape religious persecution and to gain their freedom. Eventually, they would have to fight the Crown on their own soil to retain those freedoms. Without a militia it would not have been possible. When you are thanking God for His bounty this Thanksgiving, please remember those who are deployed in the interests of our national security. While we enjoy the warmth of our homes and celebrate all that we have with a symbolic meal, some of them are in places that we cannot imagine. Even if that is not the case, they may be away from their families, doing their duty. Ultimately, we reap the benefit of their sacrifice and for that we should acknowledge them and be thankful for their service. Right after the final AHDRA race at Rockingham, the toy run season begins. With the economy the way it is, there seems to be a greater need than ever, so I hope that you will participate in as many as your time and finances allow. It never ceases to amaze me that there is that much need in our communities, but apparently there is. I never see any toys, coats, or food left over. Again, we can be thankful that our roles are not reversed and that we are in a position to give to others less fortunate. Enjoy the nice days and be thankful for them and please remember that the need doesn’t go away if the weather is bad on toy run day. If you can’t ride, drop off your toy ahead of time or go in your cage and be thankful.

Jim McClure Nationals AHDRA Fall Nationals At Rockingham Story & Photos By: Alan Dockery Beautiful fall weather, a bunch of drag racers and a campground full of fans greeted bikers arriving at Rockingham Dragway, October 7-9 for the All Harley Drag Racing Association’s Jim McClure Nitro Nationals presented by the Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association. This second race of the year at Rockingham was the national finals for the North Carolina based sanction. Friday evening folks filled up the grounds while racers ran a final test and tune session. This was the last race of 2011 and the final chance to move up in the points. Qualifying started early Saturday morning and the great weather meant fans were in for an awesome day of drag racing. Besides the action on the strip, you could check out the race machines in the pits and a bunch of vendors. Harley-Davidson even had their big rig and a bunch of new bikes at The Rock. Between good air and a great track, 11 guys backed up 17 new national records. And that ain’t even counting the guy who busted all the records in the new Draggin’ Bagger class. Fans at Rockingham saw the quickest and fastest passes ever. After Saturday’s qualifying, it was time for the King Of The Rock race. This was a gambler’s race open to gas bikes and run on dial ins. King Of The Rock is a fun race to watch as sportsman racers, friends, and family hang out down front cheering on their favorites. The action is quick as winners come right back to the staging lanes for the next round. Scott Kirkpatrick, New Ellenton, SC, made spectators out of half the field and headed to the final round. But he lost by a split second to John Price, Emmitsburg, MD.
eliminations for some of the larger sportsman classes to get them down to 16-bike fields. By noon it was time for Opening Ceremonies, which included Mark and Molly Infield of The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine presenting a $150 bonus to the SYN3 ET #1 Qualifier, Justin Collier, of Orlando, FL. As I looked down the line of number one qualifiers that weekend, I was proud to see several were Carolina racers. Lots Of Nitro Bikes The Jim McClure Nitro Nationals had more nitro-fueled bikes than many races lately. It was great for fans who love the roar of hundreds of horsepower, the smell of nitro methane and six-second passes at more than 200 miles per hour. Eighteen Top Fuel bikes, eight Pro Fuelers and 19 Pro Dragsters ran The Rock. Tommy Grimes, Pfafftown, NC, put the Ray Price H-D machine ahead of everyone else in Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel. The team also set new class records of 213.10 MPH in the eight mile and a blistering new quarter mile elapsed time of 6.215 seconds. Tommy lost in the final round when the bike broke. The Ray Price team ended the season second in national points for 2011. Jay Turner, Julian, NC; Tracy Kile, Leicester, NC; Brook McCabe, Roanoke Rapids, NC; and Armon Furr, Orangeburg, SC, also ran in Top Fuel. Mark Cox, Wilkesboro, NC, qualified number one in Hawaya Racing Pro Dragster. He sent everyone else to the trailer on his way to the class win. Cox finished the season sixth in points. Johnny Vickers, Millers Creek, NC; Freddie Robbins, Lewisville, NC, and Mark Harris, Mathews, NC, also made
Winner of the King Of The Rock race John Price from Emmitsburg, MD
Finally, it was time to party. I love cruising the campgrounds, stopping to warm up when I see friends or a good fire, sampling good eats and drinks. The band Peacepipe rocked a crowd down by the main gate, but we were having a good time all over the place. With a good racer turnout, the AHDRA ran Sunday morning
Mark Cox, #1 Qualifier and winner of the Hawaya Racing Pro Dragster class, is recognized before the finals Sunday morning.

the Pro Drag field. John Lucas, Mount Gilead, NC, riding the popular Bobby Hoover Racing machine, looked great in qualifying, but missed making the field by a tenth of a second. Keith Browne, Semora, NC, qualified their cool turbocharged machine at the top of the Rush Pro Gas Class and then took the win. Browne was running in the six-second zone and we thought he would post the first 200 MPH gas bike pass. He came real close setting the new national record at 199.32 MPH. He also finished third in points for the season. Keith “Stump” Williams, Murrells Inlet, SC, and Clint Riley, Greenville, SC, made the class. Stump finished the season fifth in national points. Dickie Johnson, Aynor, SC, ran in Hot Street and is fourth in points. Greg Best, Raleigh, NC, put that WFO 1976 Shovelhead at the top of the 23-bike Bison Racing Super Gas field. He posted a 9.701 against the 9.70 class index. Scott Kirkpatrick, New Ellenton, SC, finished runner up in Super Gas and sixth in season points. Keith Richner, Moore, SC; Wendell Overcash Jr., Sanford, NC; Jay Beasley, Winston-Salem; and Miles Hamrick Sr., Gastonia, NC, also ran Super Gas. The Super Sport Class had Joe Peterson, Wilmington, NC, in competition. Lane Boger Sr.; Greensboro, NC; Leo Miller, Rockwell, NC; Gary Greenly, Goldsboro, NC; Gene Jennings, High Point, NC; Glenn Sutton, Moore, SC; and Jeremy Abbott, Conover, NC qualified in Rush Super Elminator 10.90 index class. Lane finished the season fifth in the points. Jeremy Abbott qualified number one with a 11.504 second pass in the 27-bike Screamin’ Eagle Performance 11.50 index class. The class also included Travis Ellis, Summerville, SC; Jeff Ellis, Summerville, SC; Mike Trull, Sanford, NC; Erik Harley, Charlotte, NC; Tim Scamardo, Gastonia, NC; Garrett Owens, Welcome, NC; Don Meeler, Goldsboro, NC; Lane Boger Jr., Concord, NC, and Glenn Sutton. Greg Best raced in SEP and finished the season number two in points. The SYN3 ET Class had 52 riders in the first round and a bunch of them were from the Carolinas. Mike Best, Cary, NC, finished eight in ET points for his second time and Gene Jennings is ninth in national points. Way to go guys! Chris Fairfax, Lancaster, SC; Jason Clemens, Holly Springs, NC; Jack Efird, Marshville, NC; Jason Moore, Cameron, NC; Garrett Owens; Keith Richner; Jay Beasley; Scott Kirkpatrick; Wendell Overcash Jr.; Dickie Johnson; Don Meeler; Erik Harley; Tim Scamardo; Mike Trull; and Jeremy Abbott; also competed in ET. 9th Annual Poker Run For Shriners Hospital
Jennifer Roark had the 2nd Best Hand at the 9th Annual Catawba County Shrine Club’s Poker Run. By: Alan Dockery The last Sunday of summer was a beautiful day for The Catawba County Shrine Club’s 9th Annual Poker Run. More than 200 riders headed out from Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson that morning. Stops included Judges on the River in Morganton, Tri-County Grille in Vale, Horsefeathers Roadhouse in Sherrill’s Ford and ended at the Catawba County Shrine Club in Newton. As folks turned in their hands, the Shrine Club served all the riders and volunteers a meal while listening to music by DJ “Doc Hollywood” Crump. Once everyone was back a bunch of door prizes were given out from various local merchants. The Best Hand $500 prize went to Rick Rhinehart who donated $400 back to the Shriners. Rick also taught us all a lesson about playing poker. He didn’t realize he had a winning hand and left before the prizes were awarded. 2nd Best hand of $250 went to Jennifer Roark who donated back $50. 3rd Best hand prize of $150 went to Jessie Williams who donated back $60. Terry Heffinger won $100 for the Worst Hand and donated back $60. This annual poker run is one of the major fundraisers that the Catawba County Shrine Club holds throughout the year to support the Shriners Burn Hospital in Greenville, SC. Dennis Grigg coordinated the poker run this year and said, “Thank you to everyone who showed up for the poker run and the folks who helped put it on. Thanks also to the local merchants who donated door prizes and to all the sponsors who donated money for advertisement of their companies on our T-Shirts.”

1st Annual North Carolina’s Hottest Biker Babe Beauty Contest By: Stand Up (SRMC) Motorcycle enthusiasts come from various social and demographic backgrounds and have different opinions on politics, religion, and morals. However, it seems that there is at least one opinion upon which the vast majority of bikers can agree: Hot babes rock! In order to prove this point, the Cumberland County Chapter of the Southern Riders Motorcycle Club (SRMC) staged the first ever “North Carolina’s Hottest Biker Babe Beauty Contest” on September 24, 2011 at Pyrate’s Sports Bar in Spring Lake, NC. In addition to providing concrete data with which to bolster the SRMC’s “Universal Hot Babe Theory” amongst bikers, the contest was held to provide charitable donations to a lady who is near and dear to the club: Vaylene Klassen. On June 11, 2011, Vaylene and her boyfriend, Bill Causey, were riding Bill’s motorcycle when a vehicle cut them off, causing a crash. Bill was killed and Vaylene was critically injured. Vaylene found herself fighting for her life in UNC Chapel Hill Hospital with an ever-mounting pile of hospital bills and no insurance. The SRMC felt that the beauty contest would be an excellent way to help. Supporting the event was Gary, the owner of Pyrates, who cooked a pig and served up his world famous BBQ pork and chicken for the event. Having stuffed their bellies with Gary’s AMAZING cooking, the bikers focused all eyes on the stage. The contest featured three competitions: The Biker Babe Fashion Portion: Contestants were judged on their presentation of “Hot Biker Babe” wear. The outfits could be as sexy or as wild as the contestants wanted: chaps, leather bra, Daisy Dukes and a bikini top - whatever the contestants thought was sexy and biker-babe-ish. The Talent Portion: The contestants were judged on their various talents. Some of the potential talents considered were: singing, dancing (to include lap dancing), and seducing a banana. Whatever talent the contestants thought that the judges might like. Of course, the contestants had to bear in mind the judges were local bikers. Therefore, while a violin solo might score points in some National Beauty Pageants, the contestants in this competition were more likely to score huge points performing a lap dance! The Bikini/Lingerie Portion: What beauty contest would be complete without the swimsuit event? The ladies also had the opportunity to model lingerie instead of a swimsuit if that was their preference. First prize was $200 cash, a tiara, and a red and white sash proclaiming the bearer as “North Carolina’s Hottest Biker Babe”. Second prize was $100 cash, and third prize was $50 cash. Six amazing and beautiful young ladies competed in the contest, each one looking to claim the coveted tiara and sash.
The competition was amazingly fun for the audience and extremely competitive for the Ladies. During the talent portion of the contest, the audience was treated to three exceptional lap dance demonstrations. In addition, a very creative duo of ladies entered as “one contestant” and performed a seduction scene with one another as their talent. The scene became particularly interesting when the ladies introduced a can of whipped cream into their act! The competition was fierce and the scoring was close, but at the end of the day the winner emerged: Ms. Kate Cianfrocco of Harnett County, NC. Congratulations Kate! Kate will be appearing at various events throughout the next year to represent her title and to let everyone know that she is North Carolina’s Hottest Biker Babe! The event raised approximately $500 for Vaylene. Hopefully, this money will provide some small comfort after the tragedy that she has endured. Next year’s event will be in September 2012 and will be even bigger and better! Please watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin Calendar for the exact time and place as the date approaches.

LIVE MUSIC EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT
By: DPapaBear The Fall Bike Rally at Myrtle Beach/Murrell’s Inlet recently took place during the week of September 28th-October 2nd. Even though the weather was perfect and after a great turnout for the spring rally, I was a little disappointed in the numbers for this weekend. It appears the spring rally is starting to come back to the area (with exception of the city of Myrtle Beach), but the fall rally still has some catching up to do. Still there is a lot going on in the North Myrtle Beach area and the south end around Garden City Beach and Murrell’s Inlet areas. The Beach House Harley-Davidson in the Shallotte area had vendors there and the Swing Bridge Saloon always has their party going on, with free pig pickin’, food, karaoke, bands, and lots of friends, both old and new. Along the southern end the usual places are packed and hopping as always. The fall weather is usually a little cooler (comfortable) for riding and less traffic to deal with as well. So, if you missed it this year, go ahead and make plans for the next year’s rallies and come on down to the beach and have some fun. But wherever you are riding, stay safe. By: Joe Turley September 17th marked the 8th running of the Derek Ellis Memorial Ride. Well over www. independentcyclesnc .com 150 people gathered at Easy Eddie’s in Huntersville, NC to ride and pay tribute to Derek’s memory and his family. Tragedy hit the family just before Christmas in 2003 when Derek, 26, lost his life in a confrontation outside the original Easy Eddie’s location. Family and friends gathered, not to mourn their loss, but to celebrate the life of a wonderful son, husband, father, and motorcycle enthusiast. Com ! Bikes began to fill the parking lot late morning for a 45-minute ride on country roads y eP art ending at Northlake Memorial Gardens. A short service was held with accompanying art P ls yW a c music and I’m sure there were many silent prayers as well. Then as rubber hit asphalt her Lo e The and pipes roared, one can only imagine what thoughts ran through everyone’s minds as they drifted back on the country roads to Easy Eddies to actually start this celebration of life. Eddie did his traditional burnout in the parking lot to jump-start the party off right and everyone bellied up to the bar for some of the best food and beverages you $ can get around here. Live music filled every inch of the place while old and new friends made conversation and hoped their numbers would be called in the fundraising raffles. Ride In Peace Nelson Lee Clark
By: Alan Dockery On August 23rd one of the bestknown and well-loved bikers in the Hickory, NC, area, Nelson Clark, died in a motorcycle crash when an in-attentive woman ran a red light. Nelson was a friend of mine and attended all of my Freedom Rides except the last. He missed that ride because someone who was laid up sick needed help catching up on yard and house chores. That was Nelson, eager to help his friends when they needed it. Nelson was also one of my fellow Roosters, making it to most of the
party weekends at Riders’ Roost. Photo by Terri “Crash” Riding He never let you be a stranger for long and offered everyone a seat to join the group. Relaxing at the Roost was something he enjoyed since sitting and talking is one of the favorite things to do there. You just had to pay attention because he might draw you into one of his tall tales. Maybe that was his way of seeing how smart we are. Located In White Building If you bought a ticket for the Shovelhead Red Chopper raffled off to benefit Riders’ Next To Restrooms Roost Charities you probably met Nelson. He sold way more tickets than anyone else. “Nelson was the kind of guy who always made time to listen, and didn’t mind shootin’ the sh*t! His hard efforts for veterans’ causes will long be remembered!” said Pam and Dave Lucas owners of Riders’ Roost. “Nelson has been a long-time member of the Riders’ Roost family. His passing was a shock to us all and we will all miss his presence and smiling face at the Roost. I am glad he was my friend,” said B.C. “Nelson liked camping and riding his motorcycle, helping and supporting the veterans. And most of all loved his friends and family - a man with a heart as big as he was,” according to his girlfriend Crash. She was the one who gave him the nickname “Neutral.” “We were camping at Riders’ Roost his birthday weekend, and his bike wouldn’t start. He was pulling things off and checking this and that, when B.C. comes up and Silent Auction, 50/50, Food, says, ‘Is it in neutral?’ Nelson kicked it in neutral and the bike started. That’s when I said, “That’s your new name - ‘Neutral’.” A great man, I will love and cherish forever.” Reg 12pm Live Music By Don Cox Ride 1pm “I have known Nelson for 10 years and he has one of the kindest, giving and gentlest Free Adm W/ Poker Run souls one could ever know,” said Lori. “A man who never met a stranger and would 1ST POKER RUN talk to anyone. UTILITY TRAILERS Starting @ $550.00
By: DPapaBear Sunday, October 9th, I decided to take a day trip from the Thomasville, NC area to the Blue Ridge Parkway just to get out and ride. It was a perfect day weather wise and a good trip. There are several ways one can go, but one on my favorites being travel up US 52N to Winston-Salem and take NC 8N up thru Danbury and Stuart, Va. In Stuart you can continue on hwy 8N until reaching the Blue Ridge Parkway or take Hwy 58N to Meadows Of Dan and take the Parkway south. Along the parkway at milepost 193.5 is a great little place to stop and take a break, grab a bite to eat, and listen to a band while resting. Rap’s Orchard Gap is a local restaurant with a bit of whimsy. Its motto is “Fifties-Style Pit Stop for Gas, Food, and Fun.” Rap’s Orchard Gap offers deli-style food and a market. A covered porch has high-back rocking chairs for relaxing. Stop by on Saturdays and enjoy live music. The waitresses are all cute, young, and very friendly! If you are riding that way be sure to stop by, rest a spell and tell them you saw their ad in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. After leaving there, heading on farther south, one can get off the parkway at Fancy Gap and take Hwy 52S back toward Winston-Salem or continue on the parkway to Hwy 18S. At the intersection of hwy 18 and the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Laurel Springs area (MP 248) is another good place to stop and take a break at Freeborne’s Eatery & Lodge. From there you can come back thru Wilkesboro to hwy 115 to hwy 901 thru Union Grove and Harmony to hwy 64E by way of Mocksville to Lexington. So where ever you are located, just get out, ride, enjoy the weather, even if just for a day trip to somewhere to eat or just no where in-particular. The joy of the journey is what it is all about anyways! Ride safe and take care.

2nd Annual Bikers For Boobs Breast Cancer Ride
By: Rose & Lloyd Saturday, September 24th was overcast with a 30% chance of rain. At 8am the bands and vendors set up, and bikers and the pink fire truck came rolling in at Cox’s Harley-Davidson in Asheboro, NC. The two-hour ride, escorted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, was to begin at 10am This is the second year that Joy Hicks and Fay Morgan, who were brought together when Clay Morgan bought his Harley at Cox’s in 2009, have organized the ride. Joy who is in human resources saw the cancer survivor sticker on Fay’s car. They began to talk and realized that they were both survivors, who as of this year are celebrating 3 cancer free years. They began to work together with Cox’s and many other survivors to put on the Biker For Boobs Breast Cancer Ride. The rain came about 9:30 and the ride was delayed. It finally stopped at about 10:15 and the ride began. Ten minutes into the ride the rain began again, and continued though the ride, but 220 bikes lead by United Riders Riding Club rode proudly in their pink shirts and pink ribbons flying. There was approximately $18,000 raised to go to Benefit Randolph Hospital’s Mammogram Fund and The Randolph Cancer Center Patients Assistance Fund. The Randolph Cancer Center is an outreach program to educate by providing materials to Health Department, The Merce Clinic, physician’s offices and speaking engagements. This program helps with any barriers, whether it is emotional, physical, or financial. If a patient of any age is uninsured or under insured they still receive treatment. The Federal Government will assist with mammogram funding if a woman is over 40 years of age or has a strong family history of Cancer. Fay and Joy have dedicated themselves to raising money for this organization in belief that early detection and proper treatment will help make survivors of more of the 1 out of 8 women that develops invasive breast cancer. There are so many people and companies to thank for such a wonderful and successful event. The Randolph County Deputies for a safe ride; The United Riders Riding Club for leading the ride and their donation; and all other groups and individuals that participated. A very special Thank you, with great admiration, to Tea and Morgan, two 8-year-old girls that raised and donated $650 to such a worthy charity. Many thanks to all the vendors and volunteers and, last but not least, to the bands Hardwood and The Knockers w/The Thrill Billies, Carolina Roads, and The Ross Coppley Band. The ride was a great success despite the weather, but Joy and Fay are working everyday for this cause. You can contact them on Facebook @ Biker For Boobs Cancer Ride, or call and make donations all year long. Joy Hicks @ 336-635-9011 or
Fay Morgan @ 336-622-4238. Mark your calendar today and watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for next year’s Biker For Boobs Cancer Ride. It is held annually on the 4th Saturday in September at Cox’s Harley-Davison in Asheboro. I hope to see everyone there next year.

11th Annual CHDDA Rally In The Valley
By: WildThing The 11th Annual Rally In The Valley was presented by The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association on September 16th and 17th in beautiful Maggie Valley. The weekend weather started out cool and damp in the mountains and rainy in the piedmont and that caused some folks to stay at home, but they were the losers here! The rally opened Friday morning at the Maggie Valley Festival grounds with this year’s version of Official Rally T-shirts being sold out of the Dealers’ trailer, food, and accessory vendors’ booths set up all around, and the Dealer Sale Mall tent was chocked full of 50% off genuine HarleyDavidson clothes and riding gear with customers elbow to elbow in each cubicle grabbing the great deals. The music started at noon with Ivy Road and the Team Extreme gang scheduled to perform in their Motosphere at 2:30 and 5 pm. We arrived in the early evening to catch “Road Tripp” and “45 Cherry”. The Dealer’s have the stage set up in a large open-air tent with a dance floor and tables and chairs. Both bands were a lot of fun to watch and lots of folks hit the dance floor with their leathers on in true biker fashion. Saturday morning the rally was a slow starter because of the overcast sky, but as soon as the sun came out and it warmed

up a little bit, the motorcycles began pouring in the back gate and cars into the front parking lot. It was on! The aroma from the food vendors wafted through the midway, enticing rally goers to fill up on fair type snacks, the Dixie Dream Dancers whooped it up on the dance floor in two rousing performances, and the Team Extreme wowed the crowd in their daredevil performances. There were around 20 entries in the all Harley ride in bike show, all polished and cleaned up gleaming in the sunlight. While they were being judged, enthusiastic Harley folks competed in the slow race, weenie bite, and a rolereversed version of the plunger game. The girls ‘manning’ the plungers appeared to know just what to do, having coached their guys in the past games! The winners were awarded plaques for their efforts. Upon returning to the bike show area, Top Ten award plaques had been placed in front of the judges’ picks. A special plaque for best use of Genuine Harley-Davidson parts was awarded to Phillip Fleming of Statesville, NC for his tricked out 2011 Street Glide. The Best Of Show award went to a really great looking Olive Pearl Springer belonging to Glen Frihstuck from Illinois. The music venue had another great line-up, with “Ivy Road” kicking things off at noon. “Jake Haldenwang” took the stage at 3 and had a sizeable group of fans down front, but wasn’t my cup of tea. At 5:30 the ever-popular “Benny Wilson” started off his set with his signature rendition of ‘Jump’ then they pulled off a great version of the “Blues Brothers”. It’s always entertaining to watch these guys. Then “Tuesday’s Gone” capped off the evening with a full complement of southern rock a la Lynyrd Skynyrd. They were great! The Harley-Davidson Dealers of the Carolinas did it again! Harleys roared all through the twisties of the area and all of Maggie Valley knew we were partying at the Festival Grounds. Everyone had a great time, and we can’t wait to hear what is planned for next year, so be sure to watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for the dates.

Benefit For Craig Shelley By: Pat Kersey Sometimes we want to help a friend or family member and nothing goes right. The Lord spoke to me about doing something for Craig Shelley to help with medical bills. I didn’t know if it was the Lord or me. I know you are not suppose to make deals with the Lord, but I asked Him if it was Him and not me to let the ones I called agree to help. I called Edward Bradley at Eagle Screen Printing and told him that I wanted to sell BBQ plates to raise money to help Craig with his medical bills and asked if I could use his parking lot. He told me no, but I could use the diner. What a blessing! Saturday Oct 8th turned out to be a beautiful day. The great weather helped make a good turn out. We ran out of BBQ an hour before it was supposed to be over and had just a few hot dogs left. A couple of times we had a line of people waiting to eat all the way across the diner. Craig and I got to see a lot of people we haven’t seen in years. Food sales and donations went great. It was a blessing to be able to give Craig almost $3000. If you didn’t get to come out and still want to bless Craig you can take it by Simmons and Shelley on Surratt Drive and give it to him. Especially want to thank the Lord, Edward for the use of the diner, Steve and Joan, Barbara and her family, and my family. We couldn’t have done it without your help.

Capitol City Bikefest
By: Angelica Roman This year’s Ray Price Capital City Bikefest, presented by Nationwide Insurance, spanned three days, Friday, September 23rd; Saturday, September 24th; and Sunday, September 25th. The event was held at the dealership all three days, and included Downtown Raleigh on both Friday night for a block party and all day Saturday. The excitement kicked off on Friday, September 23rd at the Ray Price dealership with live music, motorcycle vendors, and the Patriot Ride. The Patriot Ride was sponsored by The Meat House in Raleigh, who served up delicious burgers to all the registered. The ride benefits the NC National Guard and Homes For Our Troops each year, the charities of the Bikefest. This year’s ride raised over $1,700, despite being postponed due to weather. One customer even donated $300 to the causes! Tattoofest, one of the new, exciting elements, was held upstairs at the dealership all weekend. Six artists from three different shops - Warlocks Tattoos in Raleigh, Glory Days in Apex, and Sacred Art in Smithfield - stayed busy all weekend with walk-ins and appointments. Half the proceeds from tattoos, over $2,000, were donated to the NC National Guard and Homes For Our Troops! Around 6pm, the Kick-Start Parade brought customers from the dealership to downtown for the first-ever block party, featuring the Johnny Folsom 4 and All My Rowdy Friends, a fire show, and a pro weigh-in for the ConfLICK cage fight the following day. One lucky rider on the parade won a leather jacket in our raffle. Saturday the Bikefest was in full swing at the dealership. The Lucky Number Prize Board was up, as customers eagerly searched for their matching number to win a prize, which included a brand-new, 2012 XL883N! Vendor City, held in the gravel lot near the dealership, was home to dozens of biker vendors, great food, and Wild Bill’s Custom Pin Striping! Thousands of people filled the dealership and took over the side street as they browsed the bikes and vendors. In downtown Raleigh, Fayetteville Street was motorcycle-only parking. Regional and local bands, such as Tight Squeeze, Shoot to Thrill, Mostley Crue and Appetite For Destruction, played on the Main Stage. Performance groups Sube Ritmo and Fusion Dance Crew from NC State showed off their moves, Alkasha Belly Dancing group got the crowed involved, The Dancer’s Workshop had several solo and group performances, and Flame On put on a daring demonstrate spinning fire! Local bands Off Kilter, 100 Yorktown, Rusthoney and Mirror7 put on a great show at the LCI Show Stage. Our presenting sponsors, Nationwide, featured their NASCAR show car and motorcycles. The Circus Una Thrill Show
performed her gravity-defying motorcycle act by riding her bike across a wire, while her partner performed acrobatics dangling in the air! The Ray Price Racing team cranked up the drag bike, and Ray Price and his rider Tommy Grimes signed autographs. The Bike Show & Shine featured trophies in over 20 classes, with dozens of amazing bikes competing. Sunday was a new addition to this year’s event and proved more of a success than the dealership could have hoped for. Over 300 people came for Freedom Biker Church’s Worship Rally Sunday morning, and hundreds more rode in throughout the day to enjoy the live bands, including our own employee band Blown Duodenum, motorcycle vendors, food, and to register for our unclaimed Lucky Prizes raffle. Lizard Lick Towing stopped by to sign autographs and take photos with their fans who lined up for hours! Each year, thousands of people come from around the region to enjoy our one-of-a-kind rally! With plans already in progress for the 2012 Bikefest, the Ray Price dealership family could not be more excited. Ray Price Harley-Davidson and Triumph would like to thank all of our Bikefest sponsors: presenting sponsor Nationwide Insurance; founding partners 96 Rock, 94.7 QDR and the Raleigh Convention Center; corporate sponsor Gregory Poole; official sponsors Gary Pool Motorcycle Attorney, The Southeastern Guitar & Amp Show, The Meat House of Raleigh, JR Cigar and the NCDOT Governor’s Highway Safety Program; and our Bike Show sponsor Meguiar’s. Biker, Blues & BBQ
By: Grant On September 22-24, the “Biker, Blues, and BBQ”, a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event, was held at Tilley Harley-Davidson in Salisbury, NC. The first day started off with teams rolling in with some of the most outrageous meat cookers you have ever seen from old propane tanks to very expensive pig cookers to the back yard grill on a trailer. Uncle Bucks Pub and Grub on Innes Street in Salisbury sponsored a “Lets Get It Started” party with D. B. Bryant and Preacher Stone Bands. Yes, all weekend we dodged rain drops, but that did not stop anyone from having fun. As the teams set up and the vendors got their wares ready for sale, the bands rocked the front of Tilley HD and you could see brake lights coming on down on I-85 as the cars passed. The second day was more of the same as the last teams rolled in early and got down to pig cooking business. I swear you could gain
L-R Grand Marshall Harry Gant, Robinette Tilley, Cool Smoke Team: Tuffy Stone’s Father and Tuffy, and Don Tilley presenting Grand Champion Trophy
weight from the smell in the air. I think that is what heaven will smell like. Teams talked and lied and Tilley’s did every thing possible to make the event a great one. The Salisbury HOG chapter sold sodas, beverages, and manned the tents as more than one rain storm moved through the area. I don’t know if everyone could have done what they did if it had been perfect weather. Everyone will have a better idea of what to expect next year; more food, more beer, and more of everything! This event beats Myrtle Beach in every way and was a lot closer. Gary Moss and his lovely wife Anita did a job no two people should be expected to do. He and Anita attended many events around the southeast to prepare for this sanctioned event. I am sure they ate more BBQ in the last six months than a normal person eats in a couple years. I know Gary well and he figures it’s a job someone must do! On the last day, bands Big Ron Hunter and Jill Dineen Band rocked the parking lot as once again the smell of cooking pig was wafting through the air. The front and back parking lot of Tilley Harley-Davidson was packed with vendors and teams by now and I think everyone was having a wonderful time passing the night. Did I mention, NASCAR driver and fan favorite Harry Gant was on hand as the Grand Marshall for the event? Saturday brought Jr’s bike show, and as the teams prepared for one last basteing of pig, chicken and brisket, the rain decided to see how much we could take. But as the rain stopped beautiful bikes began rolling into place for judging. The teams got ready and as the judges made their way around the bikes the meat was coming off the grills. Randall Shaffer won the bike show with 1st Place and Peoples Choice. Good Job! And as for the meat, veteran smoker
from TLC’s BBQ Pit Masters and Ultimate BBQ Challenge on TV, George “Tuffy” Stone’s team “Cool Smoke” took home the Grand Champion award of $3500 plus and a great trophy. The trophy was half a HD tank with the winner engraved on it. Check out all the awards on Face Book page –Biker, Blues and BBQ. In all there were 39 teams from 6 states. The Judges were very impressed with Tilley’s Staff and the volunteers that came to help put this event on the annual map. Many teams said they will use the experience to prepare for future contests in the smoking of meat challenges ahead. If you missed it, well, you missed it. At least for this year, but 2012 will not only bring a new BBQ challenge (and I hope a new president) it may also bring a new unknown BBQ king. If you got a grill and you can get it in the back of your truck, you can enter. So Fire ‘em up and get ready.

Ladies Garage Party At Smokin’ Harley-Davidson
By: Caroline I have really become a fan of the Ladies Garage Parties since I attended the first one last year. Every one I attend has something different to learn or see. This one, held on September 27th, featured Harley-Davidson’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness. In fact, one of the guest attendees was Judy McGill, a volunteer advocate that helps plan benefit rides for local women with breast cancer. Also, the Harley-Davidson pink collection in MotorClothes was highlighted. A portion of the proceeds from sales in the pink collection are donated to the National Breast Cancer Organization. To date, HarleyDavidson has donated $400,000 and Smokin’ is a host shop for anyone who is interested in holding benefit rides for cancer victims. The ladies also took advantage of a special 15% off MotorClothes for attending this event. As if that was not enough, a drawing for gift cards was held with Ruth Topping, Ann Matthews, and Judy Doub as winners. Not to be outdone, the other departments also had their own special things to show the ladies such as the new 2012 HarleyDavidson Motorcycles and the Jump Start simulator. I really liked the new Custom 1200 Sportster with the fatter front end and wider front tire. The Jump Start is a V-Rod that is stationary. You can get a feel for what riding a bike is like by sitting on it, starting it up, and going through the gear changes.
As you can imagine, you don’t have to ride your own bike to enjoy the Ladies Garage Party. I always like to go to see the new items plus I always get to talk to and share riding experiences with new and old friends. If you are interested in attending you can get email updates by joining Smokin’s VIP club at their website www.smokinharley.com.

By: A.M. Broadway On August 20, 2011, Street Stunnaz Motorcycle Club sponsored their 2nd Annual Lenoir Co. SPCA Charity Bike Ride. 28 riders gathered at Second Chances, a community thrift store owned and operated by the Lenoir Co. SPCA. Once registration was completed they all shared in a word of prayer before heading out. Kickstands were up at 11:30 and off they went with police escort out of the city and onto the wide-open Highway 70, east bound and down. Once they returned, they were treated to hot dogs and lemonade. Other sponsor were: Piggly Wiggly Hwy 258, Pepsi, Second Chances, and Massey Toyota of Kinston. At the end, a very generous donation was made to help the Lenoir Co. SPCA in their efforts to support many of their life saving programs such as spay and neuter clinics, rescue, fostering, and education. In the near future, the SPCA hopes to break ground on a new shelter.

Cell Phones And Searches
By: Matt Danielson Lately there has been a lot of concern among motorcyclists concerning the right of the police to search cell phones during traffic stops. Most motorcyclists, like most other Americans, regularly carry cell phones with them during their travels. As technology has improved over the years our phones have gone from communication devices to mobile computers capable of storing large amounts of personal information. For that reason, the idea of the government being able to search your phone during a traffic stop is troubling to many. This article will attempt to explain the legality of such searches. Let’s start off by making it clear that the police cannot search your cell phone during a routine traffic stop. In fact, I am unaware of that being done anywhere in the country. That being said, in Michigan the police have been searching cell phones during traffic stops. However, the searches have been consensual. The Michigan State Police have been using cell phone scanning devices to download private information from citizens during traffic stops. According to reports of such searches, the police have received permission from the owner of the phone prior to doing so. It is perfectly legal for the police to do this. Any officer may ask permission to search any person for any reason. The officer does not need probable cause to do so. The person being asked is then free to say yes or no. Now those of you who have attended one of my talks about how to conduct yourself during a traffic stop know what my advice is in such situations. Follow Nancy Reagan’s advice and just say no. There is no reason to ever allow the government to search you or your property. There is no exception to that rule. Never, ever, ever, consent to a search. Keep in mind that is not to say that you should physically resist one if it is conducted against your will. That will bring on a whole host of problems that you do not want to experience. I am simply advising you to never consent. Consent will always remove the taint of illegality from the search and as (for those of you old enough to remember) Joe Friday would say, anything found will be used against you. In other words, if you consent to the search you have waived your right to object to anything found being used against you for any reason. Things get a bit different when we are talking about an arrest. What do I mean by that? Let’s say you are riding down the road and get pulled over for speeding. It then turns out that your license had been suspended and you are arrested and taken into custody. Can the police search your cell phone without a warrant? The answer to that is apparently not so clear. Many states would say no. Those states would hold that the Fourth Amendment would require that the police first obtain a search warrant after convincing a judicial official that probable cause exists that there is evidence of a crime on the cell phone. This position has been specifically endorsed in 2009 by the Court of Appeals for Ohio in the case of State v. Smith, 124 Ohio St. 3d. 163 (2009) (http://www.sconet.state.oh.us/
rod/docs/pdf/0/2009/2009-Ohio-6426.pdf). The court in Smith concluded that cell phones are not like simple containers found upon a person during an arrest that can be searched. Cell phones contain vast amounts of personal information. While the police are allowed to search arrestees incident to arrest in order to protect themselves and prevent the destruction of evidence, once the phone is in police custody it does not pose a threat nor is the information likely to be destroyed. If the police believe that the cell phone is likely to contain evidence of a crime then they must first obtain a search warrant before searching the phone. However, the opposite was decided in the California case of People v. Diaz, 165 Cal. App 4th 732 (2008) (http://epic. org/privacy/devicesearch/People_v_Diaz.pdf). In that case the court ruled that since the cell phone was personal property associated with his person when the defendant was arrested, the police had the right to search it incident to the arrest regardless of whether probable cause existed that there was evidence of a crime contained within the phone. It is my understanding that the U. S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from that decision. In response to the Diaz decision the California legislature passed a bill prohibiting the police from searching cell phones without a search warrant. However, Governor Brown vetoed the bill stating that such a decision should be made by the courts and not the legislature. I find that to be a strange position to take being that our laws are to come from our duly elected legislative bodies, not the courts. The legislature makes the laws and the courts interpret them. Apparently Governor Brown disagrees with that premise. So to summarize the issue, the police do not have the right to search your cell phone during a simple traffic stop. They may do so if you let them (shame on you if you do) but may not do so absent consent. If you are arrested the issue becomes less clear. I am of the opinion that Ohio has expressed the correct legal position but of course my default setting is to always take a position opposite of California. That being said, until the US Supreme Court decides to weigh in on the subject, a definitive answer to whether or not the police can conduct a warrantless search of your cell phone if you are arrested cannot be given. Therefore my advice would be twofold. First, don’t get arrested. Second, don’t put anything on your phone that you don’t want big brother to see. 40% Off STAR Leathers 1335 National Hwy. Thomasville, NC By: Pedro If you’re looking to get away from the mainstream commercialized rallies and have one helluva good time doing it, the Crash In The Grass held annually in September is one event you should plan to attend. For the ones that made it out this year, you know exactly what I’m talking about. For the ones that didn’t, you really missed out on a great time. “Heavy” and the members of the Armed Forces Motorcycle Club really know how to throw a quality shindig. I guess after 19 years, they’ve got it down to a science. To say the price of admission was a bargain would be a serious understatement. Ten measly dollars, or fifteen per couple, would get you a whole weekend of food and entertainment. Three hot meals were served daily, including some of the best pig I’ve tasted in a while. These guys knew what they were doing on the grill. Bands such as Mudbone 2.0 and Blind Fury were cranking out the tunes onstage, and the AFMC made sure the cold beer was stocked up and ready for purchase. For those who wanted a little extra kick, the Jell-O shot girls made sure everyone was feeling nice. Camping was free, so there was no need to leave the party. Other entertainment included a bike rodeo on Saturday, featuring favorites like the slow ride, helmet toss, and keg roll. One of my personal favorites was the ride and shoot, where the contestant would try to shoot targets with a paintball gun while riding their bike. It was loads of fun and it was nice to see so many female riders involved in the rodeo, too. These women really knew how to handle their machines and looked great doing it. Prizes, donated by local businesses, were awarded later that night to all who placed in the events. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, it was time for the much-anticipated Wet T-Shirt Contest. The prize, winner take all, was $1000 cold hard cash. Needless to say, a prize of that caliber generated much enthusiasm among the contestants, which definitely got the crowd going. I was asked to be on the panel of judges, which I reluctantly accepted. It’s a tough way to make a living, I know. After much consideration, we were finally able to crown a winner. It was so hard to choose just one! Then it was back to the partying for the rest of the night. It was an all-around great time and I’m already looking forward to their 20th annual. See you there!

1st Annual Friends 4 Animals Charity Bike Show By: Mark Terry Mother Nature surprised us on October 1st with the coolest temperatures of the season but that did not keep the bikes away from the 1st Annual Friends 4 Animals Charity Bike Show in Morganton, NC. Chelcey Hinesley was the brainchild behind this event to raise awareness and money for the Humane Society Of Burke County. She did a wonderful job of selecting a spectacular venue of Judge’s Riverside on the Catawba River with excellent food and entertainment. There were 35 bikes registered in the show covering every size and type. The first one to jump out at me was a beautiful 2010 Harley FLHX Street Glide belonging to Ryan Puett of Lenoir. It was all black with a ton of chrome, stretched bags and a 26” front wheel and tire. There were several other Harleys with lots of chrome and nice paintwork. I also enjoyed looking at the crotch rockets and a rare Yamaha V-Max in like new condition. No bike show would be complete without some really custom choppers and they had them with really amazing paint schemes all the way back to an old school 70’s hard tail chopper. To me the crowning touch was an alloriginal Honda 750 four in excellent condition. As the bikes rolled in and the judges judged, everyone was enjoying the music coming from the stage down at the river. The Kenny Rhyne Band from Atlanta was playing along with local bands Cascade Street and Red Eyed Gravy. Chelcey loves motorcycles and animals; so it was the perfect fit to bring the two together. She points out that in Burke County alone, between 40 and 50 animals are put down daily. That works out to only 1 in 5 pets being adopted to a loving home. She reminds us of how important it is that we spay and neuter all our pets to control population. With a smile and gleam of hope she said that they would love to be put out of business by caring and responsible pet owners doing the right thing to assure unwanted dogs and cats are not brought into the world.

Chelcey would like to thank all those that helped to put this event on and especially Russ Fulenwider, the owner of Judge’s Riverside, who offered up great food and drinks along with a beautiful setting for any event. She also extends a big thank you to everyone that rode their bikes and those who came out to enjoy viewing the wide selection of motorcycles. Everyone that entered the bike show received a special ribbon and trophies were giving for all classes plus a special people’s choice award. Stay tuned to The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine for the dates of next year’s event and have your bike polished up and ready. Check Out Our Website For 2012 Tour Dates By: Whistle On October 8th I had to go to University Church of God in Stokes and see what this was about. Letting my mind wander is not a good thing. After arriving and getting the whole scoop, I realized that I was way off base. Scott Polland, my contact, filled me in and I saw this was really a great ride and a new twist to helping the community. The proceeds from this ride go to supply senior centers with Thanksgiving Dinners. It’s a great idea to help those who have helped so many of us in the past. A little Thanksgiving cheer goes a long way. Yes, these are seniors, and they are troublesome at times, but in their prime, they were your teachers, your coach, your mailman that came as the sayin goes, in rain, shine, sleet, or snow, he never let you down. Don’t let him down now. I commend Sons of Thunder M/M, University Church of God, Ron Ayers Motorsports and Jimmy Stallings who helped make all this happen and hope I get to ride next year. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Everyone For A Successfull 2011 Tour Year!

Vets Empowering Vets Poker Run By: Jeanie Hood On October 15, 2011 we were invited to a poker run benefit at Mugshots in Fayetteville, NC for Veterans Empowering Vets, a nonprofit organization for homeless vets. Upon arrival, I asked for Marian Sosniak, the lady in charge of the benefit. She and Andrea Richard were inside and registering riders for the poker run. I had heard Marian was battling cancer but continued to stay involved, when possible, in a number of organizations that supported veterans. After introducing myself to Marian, I asked her to tell me a little about the cause. Marian told me her dad was killed in Vietnam and this was one of the ways she could give back. The thing that immediately struck me was her desire to give back, when she was the one who had lost her dad and I could still hear the little girl in her voice who had lost her hero. Marian continued saying when she was younger she would write letters to our soldiers overseas to let them know how much she supported them and later she was involved with Special Forces. Marian said her dad, whom she obviously still adored, was born in Poland, came to America and not only served, but gave his life in Vietnam. She said Gary, owner of Mugshots, helped her get her dad’s name added to The Wall, which was a task because her dad was listed as Canadian but was originally from Poland before coming to Cumberland County, NC and later serving in Nam. She had to prove he was a resident of North Carolina before his name could be put on the wall. Marian said Rolling Thunder had done a lot to help her achieve this and that Rolling Thunder did a lot for vets. When Rolling Thunder helped her with the task of getting her dad’s name on the wall, it was one of the most overwhelming times in her life. Veterans Empowering Vets is her way of giving back to those who helped her. She has ladies involved who knit and crochet winter caps for the homeless vets as well and Andrea has her students at the local college gather something every year around the holidays to give to our homeless vets. Last year they gave them coats. With a number of benefits going on the same day only 16 bikes and about 30 people participated in the benefit and run. Even with a small turnout, spirits were high. As for me, I didn’t get to ride, so in turn Bear and I got to judge the 3 chilies before anyone else! They were not bad either. My favorite was one that had diced peppers, ranch style beans, huge chunks of tomatoes, a little kick to boot. Bear liked the one with the Bloody Mary base (and he doesn’t drink)! Both were quite tasty. It was a beautiful day to ride with sunshine and temperatures in the 80’s. While we waited on the riders to get back, we had a chance to listen to some old stories. It is a small world. Andrea, Bear, and Marian reminisced about people they had all known and places from the past where local bikers would hang out. As an officer of Bikers For Bikers Foundation I was compelled to offer to get involved on occasion with helping the homeless vets and it was agreed we would do a combination benefit between their group and ours. We will be doing a ‘Bikers with Blankets and canned food’ for the place that the homeless vets go to for help in this county. The date will be announced as soon as organized. To end the day, the winner of the chili contest will compete at Legend’s Pub Chili Cook Off and Benefit in the near future. There was some money made to help our homeless vets, BFBF got new members, and relationships were strengthened between those of us who believe in our vets and in our downed brothers and sisters. Keep Marian in your prayers. She fights a cancer that can’t be cured and yet continues to help others in need. See ya at the next benefit and ride safe!

Out Of The Darkness Ride North Carolina
FULL MOTORCYCLE SERVICE & REPAIR By: Caroline I forget how many times I have participated in this ride, but regardless of the frequency the need is still there to help the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. In the US, every 15 minutes one person takes their own life. As my friends, Meredy Swafford, and Don Adams, who coordinate this event each year, can attest to, the results to loved ones are devastating. One can read on a regular basis in the news about teenagers, who are the targets of bullying, taking their own lives. Our service men and women are also susceptible to suicide especially those who return from combat and are trying to process the horrors of war in their minds. Despite the seriousness of the reason for the ride, it was a wonderful ride with good friends on one of the most beautiful fall days on October 8th. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson hosted the event where more than 50 bikes rode the scenic highways between Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain. After the ride, we met back at Smokin’ H-D where Don Adams served his famous chicken stew. After we ate, Meredy announced door prize winners. Also, that Jeff Hufford had the worst poker hand and Mike Connors won with the best. If you would like to know more about how to support this cause, you can read more about this at www.outofthedarkness. org also at www.afsp,org a non-profit dedicated to helping those who might be victim to suicide as well as their loved ones.

The 7th Anniversary of this topnotch tattoo studio was planned for September 24th at Riders In The Country in Randleman, NC. The forecast wasn’t great, but the weather was fine and Frank rolled out the red carpet for his friends and family to celebrate this occasion. It was a nice day to get out and ride, so I headed over to Riders to show my support for Frank and Twisted Ink. When I got there the usual suspects were there! It was nice to see the shop regulars and friends and some folks I hadn’t seen in a while. Frank was there with his wife, Whitney, and I got to meet their son Jax. Frank had put out a nice spread of food with a little help from his friends. There were new Twisted Ink t-shirts available, too! As the day went on a band took the stage, I couldn’t pronounce their name, but they had their sound together! Folks were in and out of the bar, inside rockin’ out and outside shootin’ the breeze. After a while it was time for me to head on back to High Point. If you are in the market for a quality tattoo, you should definitely check Twisted Ink Tattoo Studio out. They are located at 10418-R N. Main St. Archdale, NC. Good tattoos are worth traveling for, it’s a good thing Twisted Ink is right here in the Piedmont and a central location for all of North Carolina. 1st Annual Warriors Appreciation Ride
By: Caroline I had the pleasure of meeting a great group of bikers, Saturday, September 17th. W.A.R. is a fairly new non-profit group that holds events to help wounded veterans. Their main purpose in this ride was to raise funds for two of America’s heroes. Sgt. Joey Smith served as a Marine and in the Army. In 2004 he was in Afghanistan and was left with a spinal cord
41
injury and Traumatic Brain Injury after an attack at his FOB in Afghanistan in November 2004. Sgt. Smith was nearly killed when 2 Afghans pushed a 450-pound storage container from the roof of a storage trailer. Sgt. Smith is paralyzed from the chest down but is active in the US Biathlon Team and hopes to make the US Paralympics Team and work with injured veterans. The second Veteran that this group helped is Sgt. Sean Hobart, who served in Desert Storm. He suffers from Gulf War Syndrome, lung disease and leukemia. The group cheerfully met at Tailgators in Winston-Salem for the all day ride. Even though it was drizzling rain, it stopped long enough for the group to get a start and avoid it most of the day. They ended the day at Freeborne South in WinstonSalem for an end of ride party.

2011 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge
By: Mary Smith On August 5th, 2011, Hoka Hey riders gathered in Phoenix Arizona for the world’s greatest long distance endurance motorcycle event. The event traveled through all forty-eight contiguous states, and Canada before ending in Nova Scotia outside the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion. The route was advertised as 10,000+ miles, but when it was all said and done most riders rode 14,000+ miles. This number could be higher for some who had to backtrack to make sure they rode it correctly. The strict rules of this challenge where that you would be disqualified if you did not follow the exact route given by the event coordinators. The riders had GPS Fleet Tracking Systems on their bikes so this was easily monitored. Will Barclay was the first one to reach Nova Scotia and his title as “winner” of the 2011 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge will be determined after all winning criteria have been meet. By now most anyone who was a Hoka Hey follower knows this information. What you might not know are the stories behind the riders. Will Barclay, last year’s winner, arrived at Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson, NC’s only official stop on the HHMC, on August 16th, and this starts the clock for Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson. All official stops where required to be open for 90 straight hours. Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson took that a bit further and stayed open for a continuous 120 hours so they could provide riders the official check in and direction sheet to the next checkpoint. They were also there for any service work, food, drink, and good ole’ moral support. Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Murfreesboro, TN was checkpoint 11 and the route to Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson, checkpoint 12, was the longest distant from one checkpoint (the route went through New Orleans!) to another. Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Murfreesboro, TN is quoted as saying, “As the riders check-in and see the 2100+ mile route from us to their next stop reactions have been quite mixed with lots of deep breaths, some mumbling, and a few four letter words! Everyone seemed to leave with a pretty darn good attitude, excited to continue the journey.” Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson found when they arrived, things had changed and they felt relief to have this leg behind them and the end so close they could taste and smell it. When Will arrived the first thing he said to the staff was, “I need to sleep, wake me up in 2 hours and 1 min and no lon-
ger.” They obliged! In an exclusive interview for The Carolinas’ Full Throttle a few weeks after the ride was over he said, “I slept my way to the top.” Trying not to crack a smile, Will went on to say he slept longer than he did last year. Longer sleep periods and 40 minute power naps allowed him and his body to recoup and re-energize. Will wasn’t at this checkpoint too long for he knew, even though he had a pretty good lead that anything could happen. So off he went as the dealership waits for the next rider. They didn’t arrive together, but they weren’t far apart in the scheme of it all. Again, crowds were there to cheer them on as they pulled into the dealership. Rider #600, Florida State Trooper Shaun VanBeber, was the first to arrive despite being battered and bruised from a wreck in West Virginia. He showed off his bruises, laughing as he told us that he wasn’t sure if his ribs were broken! Broken or not, it wasn’t long before he was back in the saddle! Bet you didn’t know that Shaun was riding the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle that Will Barclay won on last year. Rider #175, Frank Kelly was next to arrive. His arrival was wrought with emotion all due to a very loved blanket. The story goes that while traveling, his wife gave him a blanket to stay warm. Since he was already carrying so many supplies, she figured he would ditch the blanket by the time he reached Santa Fe. Well, much to her surprise, the first thing he did when he got off his bike was pull the blanket out of his pack and hand it to her. “You have my grandma’s blanket!” she cried. They exchanged many kisses as only a husband and wife can. Afterwards, he told her “If you keep this up, I’ll have to stay a little longer.” Later that night, Mike McGuire, rider #55, rode into the dealership, checked-in, bought some gloves and then sped off. His quick departure was due to the fact that he knew another rider was right on his hooves. He wasn’t joking. As McGuire rode over the bridge, his headlight illuminated the reflective riding gear of rider #16, Marc Story. As Story approached the dealership, he resembled the character of Kevin Flynn from the film “Tron.” Under the brightly lit moon, his Harley-Davidson reflective gear was blazingly colorful and geometrically intense - reminiscent of the sci-fi film “Tron”. Thus, he will forever be known to us as the “Tron Continued On Page #45

www.FullThrottleMagazine.com Continued From Page #43 Man”. He left the ladies in the dealership with their hearts beating just a bit faster. Marc was able to relax a bit at the dealership and see how NC supported all the HH riders. Once it again it wasn’t long before “Tron” left us to pursue his other challengers. With the top 5 behind us, we looked forward to greeting the next warriors. Dealership staff and customers huddled around a giant screen at the dealership displaying a large map, which kept track of each rider’s current location. Particular attention was paid to rider #333, Whittany Crum. Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson is the proud sponsor of Miss Crum. Whittany arrived safely at the dealership and we all were sure glad to see her. Whittany wasn’t riding for the money; actually she couldn’t win the money even if she rode into the last checkpoint first. Whittany is part of the Hoka Hey organization and wanted to ride this challenge for the experience. Over the next few days we met so many riders, but one that stands out for me is rider #341, Robert Carlo. When he came in the first thing I noticed was a picture on his tank of his 34-year-old brother, Michael Carlo. Michael Carlo was with his crew of Engine 230 in the South Tower when it came crashing down on 9-11-2001. Rob, who is also with the FDNY went to the pile every day hoping he’d find his brother. Another HH warrior told us how he helped a sick HH rider through the mountains outside of Reno, NV. The man could not ride so he stayed with him on the dark curvy mountain roads with all his flashers on so they could be seen until helped arrived. It took over 24 hours for this to play out, once he had the other man to safety and went back to his motorcycle and the battery was dead. This is another story but you get the idea of the setbacks. He knew he was out of the “money” but continued the ride knowing he did the right thing. He said, “It was more about the ride and challenging myself than the money.” Henry Hilliard #180 from NC is a second year veteran of the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge finishing 180 in 2010. His number matched his placement last year and he is hoping for a better placement number this year, but with motor problems along the way it might not happen. However, Henry continued the route and stayed the course to Nova Scotia and is now an official finisher of the 2011 Hoka Hey Challenge. The official standings or rider placement have not been made official yet, so he might have a chance of improving that number. Henry also rode for Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson. We had 4 NC riders this year, I have already told you about Henry so next is George Young who also rode for Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson. Due to motor trouble George had to come home early. We all wanted more for him but there are no promises of tomorrow, we only have today. It all turned out for the best in the long run. George had gotten a call that his grandson had broken his arm and George’s daughter had planned a move to Florida to start a new job. It was going to be too much on her, so George was glad he could come home to be with his family when they needed him the most. Bennett Cowper #693 from Clayton, NC rode his 2010 Ultra Classic. Cowper who is 64 said he wanted to get out there and
45
see the United States. Further saying, “I might not have many chances to be a part of something like this.” Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson and his entire family are very proud of him and glad he made it home safely. Cowper also rode for RM H-D. Mike Jury, #620, another rider from NC eats, sleeps, and breaths Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. A very seasoned rider who has many long distant trips under his saddle was very excited about the Hoka Hey when he read about it in 2010. He wanted to ride the 2010 challenge, but as human nature would have it, he talked himself out of it. When this year’s event rolled around, his lovely wife Bonny told him if you want to do it, go for it. Mike went for it! Bonnie was so supportive while he was on the road and promised herself that she would only talk about the positive things happening back at home, so he could ride stress free. She didn’t mention the two tornados that touched down in their area of Stantonsburg. The Tornado took out a slue of trees, leaving the place a mess. Mike only knew of this once he was home. She knew if she told him, he would head straight home. It was always good to hear him happy and upbeat while riding the route. I don’t think Bonnie knew how much she was helping him out. Will Barclay talked about riding stress free and how this was another key to riding longer and safer. The body functions much better when stress factors are reduced and allows you to perform at your best. There are so many stories to tell that it would take an entire book to write them, but I will leave you with on last story. Rider #660, Aristotle Liceralde arrived at the finish line at Ramsay’s Harley-Davidson Aug 16th, 2011 in Sydney, NS at 5:35pm – just 43 days after leaving Mesa, AZ. He was the last man in but not without a great story. Long story short, Aris named his bike “Sincha” after his 29-year-old sister who passed away in 2009. Aris is not a very seasoned rider and met with a few setbacks and challenges. On Aug 11th he was trying to make miles and driving at night when he happens upon a wolf eating some road kill. He swerved, but he clipped it with his gear shifter and left leg. He had sprained/broke his left leg or ankle, but he could move so figured it wasn’t that bad. Then around Aug 22nd he injured is right leg. He pressed on and now is an official finisher in a ride that required passion and determination to complete. Aris is the epitome of what a true warrior is. I’m sure his sister was watching over him and brought him to the finish safe and sound. The enlightenment, spiritual awakening, friendships and memories created during an event such as the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge are priceless. They feed the heart and soul, causing each to grow so that the warrior rider emerges stronger and wiser – able to tackle life’s next challenge with courage and grace. That is the true purpose of the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge - to foster a greater appreciation for the earth, its people, and the connections that create harmony and love. One Life, One Ride. The journey is yours to take. We hope you’ll join us as another band of riders test their warrior spirit in the 2012 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge.

By: Michelle Danish “Danny” Lee Puckett 61 of West End, NC was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 22, 2011. Danny was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who lived life free and easy in real biker tradition. He was the greatest friend and brother a man of the road could ever have, a devoted partner to his companion of 9 years Michelle Brewer and a loving father to his son Jason Harris and daughter Lisa Puckett. Danny will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Good Bye My Harley Rider. What’s that sound I hear tonight? Thunder rolling with delight, Sounds to me Like a new Harley bike. With spokes so shiny and wheels so round, Pounding the pavement through God’s town. A crossing silence fills the air, that gentle noise of shifting gears. I feel you leaning to distribute the weight, while your tattooed arms guide it straight. I hold you close as I always do, you dance with me the way we do. As the taillights form one straight line, I know we’ll dance another time. My Harley rider you’re so divine.

Easy Eddies 11 Year Anniversary Party
By: WildThing One of the greatest pleasures in life is to see success achieved through hard work and dedication. Such is the story of Eddie and Judy Ellis’ eleven-year journey to the thriving business they operate today in Huntersville, NC. Starting out as an Easyriders affiliated store in 2000, they offered motorcycle service and riding gear and apparel. They have worked their way through two moves, a name change, the personal tragedy of losing Eddie’s son, to building the premises they occupy today at 12125 Statesville Road. They now have a thriving motorcycle service facility; still carry a full line of O.E.M. and aftermarket parts and accessories. Besides the shop, this location offers a restaurant, pool tables, full service bar, and outside patio. There is even room for bandstands inside and on the covered patio. They are good folks who take good care of you and your ride, and have built a following of fans that have stuck with them in their various locations and many were on hand to help them celebrate their 11th Anniversary on October 8th. Mark and I had a wonderful ride through the countryside that morning, enjoying the fall colors and blue sky. We arrived early but it wasn’t long before the motorcycles were roaring into the parking lot and the party started. The bar girls and cooks were kept busy as it seemed everyone came hungry and thirsty and the aroma of wings and burgers wafted through the air. There were several booths set up outside along side the shop with swap meet stuff on super sale, Max Power was offering dyno runs, Progressive Suspension was showing their wares, and Custom Dynamics had the latest in LED’s. At the far other end of the parking lot there was Martial Arts Training International showing off their skills. Judy mentioned they would be coming back to Easy Eddies to show the ladies some self-defense moves in the near future. In the early afternoon, Judy got up on the outside stage to welcome everyone, and mentioned all the vendors and then introduced the singing duo “Wil and Melissa”. They were fun to watch and had the place toe tapping for most of the afternoon. The late afternoon group was “Another Lost year”, an alternative/rock band from Charlotte that took the outside stage and they really rocked the house. The headliner event that everyone was waiting for was the applesauce wrestling set to begin at 4, so we all went over to the side parking lot where the martial arts kids were performing and the “wrestling ring” was set up. It was actually an inflatable pool that had several inches of applesauce in it, warming in the sun. Sheila grabbed the mic and started petitioning for towel boys and bodyguards for the girls, coaches, and a referee. There wasn’t any lack of volunteers with ticket money! The bodyguards’ job was to make sure the girls didn’t roll out of the pool and get hurt on the asphalt and the coaches got to douse them with applesauce. The girls wrestled for two 2-minute rounds much to the delight of the crowd. Winners were declared and all were washed off by yet another set of ‘volunteers’!

It was really a fun day and we all got to help Eddie and Judy celebrate. Congratulations and best wishes for the future! I am sure that I will not be a stranger at Easy Eddies and hope to see you there! They are centrally located at 12125 Statesville Rd (just off of I-77, exit 23) in Huntersville, NC. Poker Run For Johnny Ray Spillman
By: Sunshine On October 8th, 2011, a brisk fall Saturday morning, I went to Cooper’s Sports Bar in Pilot Mountain, NC for a benefit poker run for Johnny Ray Spillman of East Bend, NC. Once there I met with the coordinators for the ride, Tammy Braswell and Lori Hunter. I also got to meet with Mr. Johnny Ray Spillman. Johnny’s story is one of making the best of something that would seem so awful to some people. Johnny is a hard working family man, who has been employed at R.J. Reynolds’ Tobaccoville Plant since he was 17 years old. His love for riding motorcycles started when he was 13 years old and he has been riding ever since. On August 18th he was in a motorcycle wreck, which cost him the loss of part of one leg and seriously injuring the other. He still has several months of therapy and a long road of healing ahead of him. But his optimism for life was shining through like this was just a minor set back for him. In meeting Johnny Ray, he seemed to be so humbled by all the support that was surrounding him. An estimate of around 100 people showed up to show their support. There were 76 registered bikers, 2 classic cars, and few more cars and trucks that joined the ride. The ride itself was great, traveling though the back roads of several counties and though scenic towns like Sandy Springs, Dillard, and Walnut Clove, just to name a few. Along the way I got some great shots of Pilot Mountain. Seeing all the fall colors that colored the mountain reminds us that autumn has arrived and another summer is gone. My thanks to “Hippy” for the ride and for holding steady while I stood up to get some shots over his windshield. After the ride we ending back at Cooper’s Sport’s Bar in Pilot Mountain for some great food and live music provided by “The Show Time Band”. There was a 50/50 drawing and Best Poker Hand prizes given. An auction and raffle was also held. In all, counting donations from co-workers at RJR and
the ride, approximately $6,500 was raised to help Johnny Ray with his medical and living expenses. Johnny Ray would like to thank everyone that helped prepared the food, to all of his co-workers that donated, and to all that came out and supported him. It still amazes me how much bikers care for others and how they come together to show it. I would like to thank Allan Tilley for helping get a ride and the awesome folks at Cooper’s Sports Bar, including a great bartender; Joy. As for Johnny Ray, after therapy and getting his prosthetic leg, he plans to be back riding. “ Don’t ever quit no matter what,” Johnny had shared this with me earlier when we talked. Best wishes to you Johnny Ray and I hope you do get to ride against the wind again soon.

Right Next Door To H-D Of Greensboro
By: Jeff Deal This ride was well planned and had everything to go along with it. Starting off with a poker run to Lake Lure and up to the Pisgah Inn, then back for lunch. After lunch was a bike show, drawings for prizes and money, and topped off with music. All of this cost $35 and $25 of that is tax deductable. Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM), a nonprofit charitable organization, organized the ride and the money goes to the Veteran’s Restoration Quarters. The concept of The Veteran’s Restoration Quarters and Transitional Housing is to provide a home-like environment where the interdisciplinary team can address challenging issues that cannot be managed in another setting. The Quarters houses more than 210 veterans who have served from the days of Vietnam to the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Residents return to their community after a brief stay and according to the Department of Labor independent monitoring statistics over the past three years, 88%-92% of all veterans who are placed on the job were still on the job 18 months after leaving our program. $35 pays for one day for a homeless veteran providing a room, three meals, and education & work programs. VRQ works with the unemployed veterans on their resume preparation and job search and new skill training. If you didn’t make the ride but would like to meet a real hero, the VRQ is at 1329 Tunnel Road in Asheville, NC 28805. Stop by and let them know you haven’t forgot about them. You can learn more about this worthy organization by visiting: http:// www.abccm.org/vets-place.html.

19th Annual Toy Run Saturday, November 26th
By: Steve (tired of boxes) Rowland This year’s Fall Bike Rally aka Hurricane Alley Bike Rally was a little different for me. I was in the middle of a move and my riding time was limited. The first day of the rally just happened to be the day for my magazine deliveries, so I loaded the bike with mags and Joanie and I rode up to Beach House H-D to check it out. They had a few venders and they all were expecting a good rally. Most of the venders had returned from the spring rally. For being early, on the first day, Beach House had a pretty good crowd. Check out my photos at FullThrottleMagazine.com > pictures > November 2011 > Myrtle Beach Fall Rally. We rode down to the Swingbridge Saloon in Little River. All week I had seen lots of bikers rolling in, both riding and pulling trailers. We saw one convoy of trucks and trailers that was 5 trucks long pulling into Main Street in NMB. We figured Swingbridge would be the place to be on the North end. Today was free pig pickin day. Dem Boys BBQ had the grill hot and smoking and it smelled good riding down Sea Mountain Highway. The deal at Swingbridge for the pig is this, you buy one beverage, get an armband, get some of the best BBQ I have eaten around here. The rest of the week they cook and sell the food. We had a great time. I have lots of pictures, and I already told you where to find them. It seems that the rally has kinda split, North end, and South end. I didn’t have a chance to ride down to the South end, but I heard it was great with lots of bikes, people, and good times. I never got an estimate of numbers, but I know it was up from last year. It is just getting better, and better.

“Ride To Eternity”
By: Steve (Just Moved) Rowland If you have a motorcycle and are not riding today, you miss a perfect day for riding. Nice cool jacket weather in morning to an afternoon that was just right. On October 8th, my wife, Joanie, and I left our house about 8am. We had to find our gloves and Celebrate And Honor Your jackets, cause it was a little chilly. It was nice to have her come with me. We stopped Loved One’s Passion Of Motorcycles for a little bite to eat. Beach House Harley-Davidson is about 15 miles away from home. We rolled up to BHH-D at 9am. There was already about 20 bikes in the staging area ready to head out. Diane Sandoval has been putting on this ride for 3 years. The www.BlackStallionMotorcycleHearse.com first 2 years was for breast cancer, but this year they are working with an organization that is trying to stamp out prostrate cancer. ZERO is the name; if you want more info go online to: www.zerocancer.org. This is the third year that The Brunswick County Sherriff’s Department has provided a police escorted ride. Corporal Chris Raynor was the Motor Patrolman leading the way. Corporal Joe Genda, 1st Sergeant Richard Long, 1st Sergeant Daniel Little, Deputy Joe Chie were in the patrol cars, blocking intersections. We want to thank them for getting everybody back safely. They rode out for about 50 miles, made a pit stop, then rode back to BHH-D for some live music, food, door prizes, and fun. Even the band Mafia, from Myrtle Beach helped out for free! Sometimes we forget about how hard it is to get something like this together. Diane 704-528-5425 and Reggie are regular people who work hard to get this ride done every year. They have a great support team of 35 volunteers that helps out. I ask Diane what she thought Smallest DVR Ever motivated her helpers. She replied, “Most have cancer in their lives in one way or another and all are friends of Reggie and mine.” She wanted me to thank everybody for all the help that is given each and every year. • Fits On Any Motorcycle • Hands Free Bike Mount This year they had 103 bikes registered, about 130 people signed up, and they raised • Easy Download to PC or MAC $6200 for prostate cancer research. They had some good friends this Saturday. So far • Waterproof Housing they have raised $16,000 for cancer research in the last three years. This year they had • 2.5 Hours Run Time about five grand prizes, a 50/50 that paid out big - over $350. The biggest prize was The ONLY Video Camera That Allows You over $1600. Keith Richner, Moore, SC, qualified #1 in Pro Eliminator & won Top Eliminator at the AMRA Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky. By: Alan Dockery One of my favorite old dragstrips is Beech Bend Dragway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The last weekend of September, I joined some Carolina racers there for the American Motorcycle Racing Association’s National Finals. Beech Bend may be an old strip, but it holds some of the best races of all kinds. Fans sit close to the track and the seats are covered. This race draws a big crowd for a wild party and great racing. Conditions were great and the track well prepped since several records fell during the weekend. Tracy Kile, Leicester, NC, took advantage of the conditions and qualified number one in Top Fuel with a new record elapsed time of 6.319 seconds. Jay Turner, Julian, NC, was at Bowling Green but didn’t make the field. Keith Richner, Moore, SC, had his fast bike running real strong and won the Top Eliminator 9.30 index class. He also qualified number one on his Super Glide in the Pro Eliminator 10.90 index class. Keith finished the season third in national points in Top Eliminator. Jeremy Abbot, Conover, NC, ran in Pro Eliminator and Street Eliminator. He ended the season sixth in Pro Eliminator points. Colleen Bradshaw, Conover, NC, raced in the Thumper Class for Buell Blast bikes and is third in the points. Checkout www.FullThrottleMagazine.com for more photos of the Carolina racers at Bowling Green.

2nd Annual Ride For Lilly
By: Julie Baker & Tiffany Mendoza September 10, 2011 Lilly’s Foundation For Childhood Cancer held the 2nd Annual Ride for Lilly Poker Run in Kernersville, NC. This is second of the series of rides they’ve held for Childhood Cancer. The first ride that took place last September was for little Lilly Mendoza that is fighting Leukemia. She is now 3 and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 15 months old. Although her story is a sad one it is not an uncommon one. Forty-six children a day are diagnosed with Cancer and 7 a day lose the fight. Many are unaware of how common childhood cancer is becoming and Lilly’s Foundation has set out to promote awareness. Lilly’s Foundation was started in Lilly Mendoza’s honor and designed to help children and families fighting cancer. They specifically hold this ride in September, as it is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The Ride For Lilly brings the community together to raise funding and awareness for childhood cancer. Lilly’s Foundation is paired with Brenner Children’s Hospital and all of their proceeds go the children and families being treated there. The ride started out at Timeout Sports Bar in Kernersville and then moved to 3 other Winston-Salem bars to finish out back at Timeout Sports Bar. The bikers took off at 11:30am and were off to Ziggy’s with Haley, Lilly, and Mom following behind them in a stretch limo! Ziggy’s was a wonderful host and had lots of food and beverages laid out for all of the riders. Free prizes were given out and the stop was finished off by a country dance with Lilly and one of the bikers. The next stop was Tailgators, also in Winston-Salem. They were also a special stop that welcomed the riders with open arms. The ladies got out on the dance floor with Lilly and Haley, one of the foundation’s featured children that also participated in the ride, and did the Cupid Shuffle. The last stop before the finish was Ted’s Famous Chicken in Winston-Salem. This is one of the rider’s favorite stops from last year so it definitely had to be a stop this year. Ted and Jackie, as always, greeted the riders and crew with hospital-
ity like none other. The riders talked, drank, and ate some of Ted’s famous chicken, and then were off to the finale party at Timeout Sports Bar back in Kernersville. The limo with Haley, Lilly & Lilly’s Mom followed the bikers throughout the whole ride and was such a treat for Haley & Lilly, especially after everything they’ve gone through battling cancer! At Time Out Sports Bar everyone was greeted by the Kernersville News and supporters waiting for their arrival. However, after all the excitement and festivities Lilly was passed out in Haley’s lap. She was worn out. The finale party at Timeout Sports Bar consisted of a trophy for the winning hand and worst hand, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, raffle give aways, face painting, temporary tattoos, live music, and lots of free food from Subway in Kernersville. Hooters in High Point donated 200 wings with an appearance from a couple of the Hooter’s girls! There were hundreds of people from the community that came out to support the riders, Lilly’s Foundation and Childhood Cancer. It was a grand event, like last year, and touched many people in many ways. If you would like more information on the Ride for Lilly Poker Run or Lilly’s Foundation For Childhood Cancer check out their website at www.LillysFoundation.org or email LillysFoundation@gmail.com.

3rd Annual Don Tilley Cruise In
By: Mark Terry The Don Tilley Cruise In is becoming one of my favorite events. This year was better than ever with beautiful weather, music, food, bikes, cars, and friends. There are no prizes, there is not an entry fee, and there is no start or ending time. What there is according to Ronnie Carver the General Manager of Tilley Harley-Davidson of Statesville is “Good Fellowship”. I arrived to find over a hundred bikes parked in the ‘bikes only’ section already enjoying the free food and drinks provided to all compliments of Tilley Harley-Davidson. As soon as I turned off my Harley I heard the sweet tunes of the Johnny, Johnny & Wendell Band. These guys are a regular at Tilley H-D and for good cause. They are three super nice guys that make good music especially if you are a 60’s and 70’s guy like me. The Statesville HOG Chapter under the leadership of Martha Mitchell was present in force helping with parking, selling 50/50 raffle tickets, and serving free hot dogs, chips and drinks. The first thing to catch my attention was the rat rod hot rod. Nowadays, what car show and cruise in is complete without a rat rod. There were over two dozen cars to cruise in and out during the course of the event including a classic Dodge Charger, a beautiful 1940 Nash convertible, Mustangs, Camaros, and more. I’m one of these guys that always enjoy picking my
favorite and this year it was an easy choice for me. Chad Byers a very well known salesperson at Tilley H-D brought his 1967 Chevy II 2 door post, which was simply stunning. It was the perfect shade of red, everything was very well thought out for that perfect look and the engine compartment is as clean as it gets. There is no question that the almost totally chrome 383 cubic inch Chevy motor coupled to a five speed tranny will move this beauty down the road fast. Besides the great look is a great story about this car. Chad got the car from his father when he was just 15 years old. It has been in their family for a long time and Chad was not easy on it at a young age having wrecked it twice. But now after ten long years of restoration it gets my vote as nicest of the show. The next thing to catch your attention were the very rare and classic motorcycles belonging to Don Tilley that were put on display for all to enjoy. The ladies in MotorClothes had a large display of items outside with deep discounts and there were many items on sale throughout the dealership. Don Tilley is a legend and a true biker. His private collection of bikes is something to see and his love for automobiles makes this cruise in very special. I thank him and all the good folks at Tilley H-D for a really enjoyable day. Ride Safe.

Bros & Bro-ettes
Fall riding has been great and Biketoberfest in Daytona was really good this year. It was nice weather and a good ministry time. Let me tell you about Paul. We met him on Main Street in Daytona. He had been struck by lightning in years past and was in a wheelchair. It was a miracle he is even alive. Actually Cheri, a member of His Laboring Few Biker Ministry, met him while she was shopping at a shopping center and he was waiting on his wife. She asked him about Jesus in his life after hearing his story about the lightning strike and him being thankful to be alive. He stated he was not saved and didn’t think he was quite ready to pray and accept Jesus when she asked him if he would pray with her. She thought that would be the last opportunity to witness to Paul and just ask everyone to pray for him. Later that night, downtown on Main Street, we were preaching and giving out crosses and “Jesus the biker tracts” and there is Paul! He said he was still not ready. A couple of nights later, guess who we saw? There’s Paul again! This time I ask him if someone had offered to take that lightning strike for him would he have let them and he answered yes! I ask him if he was thankful to be alive; he answered yes! I ask him if he would let someone take the death penalty for him; he answered yes! He prayed right in the middle of everyone passing by on Main Street in Daytona dur-
ing Biketoberfest and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior! Now he is really thankful for Life! You see, God didn’t quit on Paul. He kept bringing him back and He will not quit on you, either. He will give you every opportunity to accept the truth of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This is the month of Thanksgiving; no matter where you are or who may be watching, pray the Bikers Prayer on this page, mean it in your heart as you pray and give God all glory and thanksgiving for giving you life and life eternal through His Son, Jesus! And then if God keeps bringing someone in your path, it’s probably their turn to know the same Jesus you know. Share your reason for Thanksgiving with them! Happy Thanksgiving

By: Buzz: On September 17th I had the house all to myself, and what’s better to do when you have the house all to your self? Go for a ride! I checked the Cruisin’ Calendar and found a ride at Harley-Davidson of Greensboro and figured I would go and see what was going on. I strapped on my boots and hit the road, it was overcast, but hey, any weather that’s dry and above freezing is riding weather! I got to the dealership and immediately noticed that this ride had some awesome raffle prizes waiting for us on our return. I signed in and was ready to go. We took off and went to Smokin’ H-D in Winston-Salem, Childress Vineyards in Lexington (much to the displeasure of the high class diners), Cox’s Harley-Davidson in Asheboro, and back to HD of Greensboro for the rest of the event. While we were on the stops, I got a chance to talk to Sara Barber, whose son this ride was in memory of. It turns out this is an annual event for a young man who died tragically in a single car accident. His entire family rides and he had a love of animals. To keep Hunter’s memory alive the family put together this event to benefit the Humane Society of the Piedmont. It was nice to see the family rally around Hunter’s memory and help out less fortunate animals in the area. We arrived back at Harley-Davidson of Greensboro to a party in progress! Several different animal themed vendors were set up including different animal adoption organizations, some of which even had animals there ready for adoption. The grill was fired up and there was plenty of chow for the returning riders. I was definitely ready for a bite! Harlots Web, an all chick band, was rocking out on the stage in the motorcycle park. They put on a heck of a show, belting out good ol’ rockn-roll. In between songs some really great prizes were raffled off. Although I was hoping to take home the Charbroil gas grill or the John Deer lawn tractor, I snagged a $50 gift card to Target that my better half was excited about! There were all kinds of gift cards, and other great raffle prizes that were taken home that afternoon, too. It was a win-win afternoon. Good riding, good camaraderie, and The Humane Society received some monetary help in the name of Hunter Wayne Barber. Keep your eye on The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for next year’s event.

MC BLACK Wingmen 2011 Toy Run FRIDAY December 3
3 Day EVENT
Bring A
By: Jeff Deal New/Unopened On Sunday, August 28th, with Hurricane Irene over the Toy Or Cash To coast of North Carolina, 350 riders gathered in Asheville for Ride!! the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation annual fundraiser. As luck would have it there was not a cloud in the sky and the 3950 Sycamore Dairy Rd. Fayetteville, NC temperature was a very comfortable 70º. Kiss Country was on 910-864-1200 hand with music, there were ride t-shirts, and doughnuts. What more could you ask for? The ride left Asheville and headed for Lake Lure where they had a light lunch. Over the last eighteen years riders have contributed over $1.5 million to support critically needed medical research, and also to help families to better cope with the issues surrounding their child’s brain tumor. Some of the kids rode in sidecars in this year’ ride and others were on hand to cheer them on. Each rider who raised $300 or more had their name entered into a drawing for a Honda Motorcycle. If Home Of The Gypsy Women you raise $5000 you got a special jacket. th I must have seen dozens of those! PBTF was founded in Asheville and now hold rides all across the country. They will be riding out west in October and finish up the season in Florida on November 6th. They give special thanks Sat. Nov 19th to Irene for NOT showing up.

A Dedicated Tribute To Vietnam Veterans
By: Bruce “Mad Doc” Laughter The Vietnam War Era was a troubling time in America to say the least. Over 9 million men and women served on active duty during this era. Three million of them served in Vietnam. 303,704 of these were wounded in action. 58,229 American heroes lost their lives. Monuments all across the U.S. have been built to pay tribute to the memory of those brave men and women who made the greatest sacrifice for our country and our freedom. The Onslow Vietnam Veterans Memorial is built to recognize the sacrifices that every one of these soldiers made. Nearly 600 feet of glass is etched with the names of the 58,229 soldiers who died. The glass forms a circle that surrounds a fountain and reflecting pool. When enough money is raised, a gazebo will cover the pool, but for now columns stand tall around it. The layout of the memorial reminds many visitors of a wreath. Although the sight of the wall is impressive, the monument is not complete. On September 24, 2011, the foundation that is building this memorial hosted a fundraising Motorcycle Run and Rally. It took a great deal of work and planning for this event. Vendors brought in their goods, people donated items to be sold in a silent auction, live music was performed on stage, there was a competition with some incredible cars of various makes and models, a motorcycle run through Camp Lejeune, really good food, a beer garden, and lots of other activities made up this event. A special memorial tribute to 9/11 was a surprise addition. Steel Crazy Iron Art of Buffalo, NY converted 1,200 lbs. of steel into a 7’ tall memorial to the fallen heroes of 9/11. The names of all 3,043 victims are engraved on plates at the bottom of the monument. The only thing that couldn’t be controlled was the weather. Rain was forecasted through the entire weekend. Everyone wondered how many would show up to ride in the rain. 140 motorcycle riders came from as far as Florida to honor our Vietnam Veterans and help raise the money to finish this memorial. These people chose to give up comfort and wrap up in waterproof gear and ride their motorcycles for 50 miles in the rain to the Veterans Memorial Wall in the Lejeune Memorial Gardens not far from Camp Lejeune. To most of the riders, Saturday’s rain was an inconvenience. To 18 members of the Sons of Soldiers MR (Motorcycle Rid-
63
ers), the rain on Saturday was a break. The Sons of Soldiers MR is a group of motorcycle riders who are dedicated to supporting our military and veterans. Most of the group headed out early Friday morning from the west side of Charlotte toward Jacksonville. On Friday, there were hard rains, strong winds, low visibility, a hurricane, a small tsunami and an unverified report of some fire and brimstone. Although this is a slight exaggeration, the normally 5 hour trip took 10 hours for the motorcycles to make the journey due to the rain and visibility. For three years now, this group has ridden to Jacksonville to help honor the veterans from Vietnam and from all wars by making a donation to help the completion of the Memorial. At the memorial wall on Saturday, a presentation was made by volunteers, military and county officials. Members of Rolling Thunder, Chapter NC-5 placed a wreath at the reflecting pool while a lone bugler played Taps. Paul Levesque, President of the Rolling Thunder Chapter 5, said that it is their goal to educate the public that American soldiers were left behind and are listed as “Missing in Action” from these wars. During the ceremony, the names of 41 soldiers were read aloud. In the past year, these 41 soldiers were identified and returned home. The next time you are trying to decide a destination for a ride, consider the Onslow Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Jacksonville, NC. Until then, find a way to give a dollar or two to some military support group near you. Also, be sure to tell the next veteran you see that you appreciate their service for our freedom.

5 Annual Ride For The Cure th
By: Whistle The 5th Annual Ride For The Cure sponsored by Ribbon Riders of Eastern NC, and Eastern Radiologists Inc. was held on October 8th. It was an excellent day for a ride. The weather was great and the turn out was better. The ride left at about 10am with about 125 bikes on the road to Washington, Kinston, Snow Hill, Ayden, and then on to Eastern Radiologist back in Greenville. WRNS was broadcasting live as the bikes rumbled back in for all the festivities. The grill was smokin’ and Charles was flippin’ the burgers. Then came the yogurt, raffles, and 50/50 drawings. Then there was the money pit. Shirts, hats, cups, you name it, and they had it. This was a lot of fun and if you didn’t make it this year, put it on the calendar for next year. It is also, on a more serious note, something that affects all of us in some way, whether it is a wife, a mother, a sister, or some other family member or friends. These funds are badly needed for breast screenings and early detection programs. I, personally, have had two family members, with the help and dedication of Eastern Radiology, beat breast cancer. So give it to them for their dedication to breast cancer. If not these two would not have beat it. So if you are on Arlington Boulevard in Greenville, swing by and pick up a shirt, cup, or just let them know they are appreciated. They make great Christmas gifts and every little bit helps. Let them know, as bikers, we are a great bunch and support our communities. A special thanks to Jenny Myers, the staff at Eastern Radiology, and Ribbon Riders of eastern NC. Another big hand goes to Dr. Mike McLaughlin and Walter Lindstrand. We hope to see you next year for #6. Watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar for the 2012 date. You can also contact them on Facebook at Eastern Radiology or www.RideForTheCureNC.com or you can call 252-9317633.
Veterans Day 11-11-11
By: Bryan Boyett A day of remembrance, we call it Veterans Day. In fact, the oft forgotten original name of this federal holiday was “Remembrance Day” or “Armistice Day”. It is celebrated to commemorate the day Germany signed the treaty to formally end World War I in 1918. This year’s date has a numerical significance that, incidentally, happens only once a century. Major hostilities of WWI ended with the signing of the Armistice at the “11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” (11:00 AM on November 11, 1918). This year adds another “11”, since this is the 11th year of the 21st century! With the observance this year, all Americans should pause to remember the sacrifices our veterans have made, both before and after WWI, to make our nation the most free nation that has ever existed in the history of mankind. The history of this holiday has changed somewhat over the years. The first “Armistice Day”, was officially observed on November 11th, 1919. President Woodrow Wilson had proclaimed, “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations”. In 1926, President Calvin Coolidge issued another proclamation to observe ceremonies and declared Armistice Day to be a legal holiday. Then, in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed into law a bill proposed by US Representative Ed Rees to change the name to “Veterans Day”. A year earlier, Alvin King, a shoe repairman from Rep. Rees’ hometown of Emporia, Kansas, had started a local grass roots campaign to change the name to “All Veterans Day” to expand “Armistice Day” to not only celebrate the sacrifices of those who had died in WWI, but to encompass honoring all veterans who have ever served to protect our freedoms. Thanks to one person’s idea to pay homage to all our military, we now commemorate all of our Armed Forces on this day. You, as an individual, can also make a difference! You can start with a simple “thank you”. I challenge you to thank at least one veteran on 11-11-11 by shaking hands with a vet or calling up a veteran friend or relative and say to them, “Thank you for your service to our country”. You may be surprised how much they will appreciate it. According to Wikipedia, an interesting bit of historical trivia states that Armistice Day is traditionally a day to eat ravioli. Apparently, near the end of WWI, President Wilson invited some 2,000 soldiers to the White House for a welcome home meal. At that time canned ravioli had become a mainstay in American kitchens. Knowing the returning servicemen would be longing for home-cooked food, he had his cooking staff help him prepare ravioli for them, and the tradition began. When you observe this Veterans Day, always remember that freedom is not free. Celebrate this Veterans Day with gratitude and honor towards all those who wear or have ever worn a uniform. Stand tall, and be proud to be called an American - and open a can of ravioli!

By: dpapabear The Richard Childress Racing Museum in Welcome, N.C. was the host site on Saturday, Oct 8th, for the Ridin’ Hawg Wild event to raise support for the AUTISM SPEAKS organization and the weather was perfect. The event consisted of a motorcycle ride, show, poker run, a car show, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, door prizes, bounce house and face painting for kids, vendors, live music, and food. It was an all day event. This was the 3rd year for the event, which started in 2009 with 13 bikes registered. In 2010 they had 33 bikes and this year almost tripled that with 85 bikes registered. The car show had 30+ participants taking part as well. A lot of people who were not on bikes also came out for the day’s activities as well. All proceeds from the event will go to the Autism Speaks research organization. You can check them out at: www. autismspeaks.org to see what all they do. The ride started around 11, winding through the country roads towards High Point, Winston-Salem and back to RCR around 3pm with several stops along the way. The music line-up consisted of Keith Burkhart, Crucifixed, Ken Davis, Lauren Light, Allison Crowell and the Drones, Katelyn Marks Band, and ending the day with Redline. They started at 11am and changed every hour with Redline taking the stage at 5pm until end. There certainly was some great music being played thru out the day. Congratulations to all the Car Show Class winners, Bike Show Class winners, and to Nick with his tribute theme bike in honor of his father, which was selected as The Best Of Show winner. Nick’s father was an Air Force Veteran and upon his passing away, Nick had his bike painted with his father’s rank, branch of service and info in honor of his father’s service to our country. See all the pics on www.FullThrottleMagazine. com under the pictures for November 2011 > Ridin’ Hawg Wild. Thanks to all of the merchants who donated items for the door prizes and items for the auction. Thanks to all the volunteers, vendors, and to everyone who supported the event. If you missed it this year, be sure and watch for it next October and come out and support a great cause. Until we meet again, ride often, stay safe and have fun along the way!

Spokes & Jokes
The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!
A little girl asked her father, “Daddy? Do all Fairy Tales begin with ‘Once Upon A Time’?” He replied, “No, there is a whole series of Fairy Tales that begin with ‘If elected I promise...’” The Wednesday night church service coincided with the last day of hunting season. Our pastor asked who had bagged a deer. No one raised a hand. Puzzled, the pastor said, “I don’t get it. Last Sunday many of you said you were missing because of hunting season. I had the whole congregation pray for your deer.” One hunter groaned, “Well, it worked. They’re all safe.” A woman who ran to the mall for a quick errand lost her purse, but an honest teenage boy returned it to her. The woman looked inside her purse and remarked, “That’s strange. Earlier I had a $20 bill inside, but now it’s gone, and instead I see two fives and a ten.” “That’s right,” the boy explained, “the last time I found a lady’s purse, she didn’t have change for a reward.” The graveside service just barely finished, when there was massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance. The little old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, “Well, she’s there.” Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parent’s nasty divorce. Her mother had found the perfect dress to wear, and would be the bestdressed mother-of-the-bride ever! A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she refused. Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I’m wearing it, she replied. Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ‘’Never mind sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.’’ A few days later, they went shop-
ping, and did find another gorgeous dress for her mother. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ‘’Aren’t you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another occasion where you could wear it.” Her mother just smiled and replied, ‘’Of course I do, dear, I’m wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night BEFORE the wedding.’’ A man is recovering from surgery when the surgical nurse appears and asks him how he is feeling. “I’m OK But I didn’t like the four letter-words the doctor used in surgery,” he answered. “What did he say,” asked the nurse. “Oops!” A Chinese guy goes to a Jew to buy black bras, size 38. The Jew, known for his skills as a businessman, says that black bras are rare and that he is finding it very difficult to buy them from his suppliers. Therefore he has to charge $50 for them. The Chinese guy buys 25 pairs. He returns a few days later and this time orders 50. The Jew tells him that they have become even harder to get and charges him $60 each. The Chinese guy returns a month later and buys the Jews remaining stock of 50, and this time for $75 each. The Jew is somewhat puzzled by the large demand for black size 38 bras and asks the Chinese guy, “Please tell me - what do you do with all these black bras?” The Chinese guy answers: “I cut them in half and sell them as skull caps to you Jews for $200 each.” What’s the difference between an illegal alien and ET? ET looked better, smelled better, learned English, didn’t claim benefits, had his own bike, and wanted to go home! A biker was banging this nice lady over her kitchen table when they heard the front door open. She said, “It’s my husband! Quick, go for the backdoor!” Thinking back, I really should have run – but you don’t get offers like that every day. The man walked over to the perfume
counter and told the clerk he would like a bottle of Christian Dior for his wife’s birthday. “A little surprise, eh?” said the clerk. “You bet,” replied the man. “She’s expecting a cruise.” At a wine merchant the regular taster died and the director started looking for a new one to hire. A biker with a ragged, dirty look came to apply for the position. The director of the factory wondered how to send him away. They gave him a glass to drink. He tried it and said, “It’s a Muscat, three years old, grown on a north slope, matured in steel containers. Low grade but acceptable.” “That’s correct”, said the boss. Another glass....”It’s a Cabernet, eight years old, a southwestern slope, oak barrels, matured at 8 degrees. Requires three more years for finest results.” “Correct.” A third glass...’’It’s a Pinot Blanc Champagne, high grade and exclusive’’ calmly said the biker. The director was astonished. He winked at his secretary to suggest something. She left the room, and came back in with a glass of urine. The biker tried it. “It’s a blonde, 26 years old, three months pregnant, and if you don’t give me the job, I’ll name the father.” The Mexican maid asked for a pay increase. The wife was very upset about this and decided to talk to her about the raise. She asked: “Now Maria, why do you want a pay increase?” Maria: “Well, see, there are tree reasons why I wanna increaz.” “The first is that I iron better than ju.” Wife: “Who said you iron better than me?” Maria: “Jor huzban he say so.” Wife: “Oh yeah?” Maria: “The second reason eez that I am a better cook than ju.” Wife: “Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than me?” Maria: “Jor hozban did.” Wife increasingly agitated says: “Oh he did, did he?” Maria: “The terd reason is dat I am better at sex than ju in dee bed.” Wife, really boiling now and through gritted teeth asks, “And did my husband say that as well?” Maria: “No...dee gardener did.” Wife: “So how much do you want?”

7th Annual Cops For Kids Bike Run
By: Michael Frederick On October 8th the 7th Annual Cops For Kids Bike Run was held. The cost to ride was $10 or a $10 new unwrapped toy, which benefits local under privileged children for Christmas. The ride started at OTS on Merrimon Road in Weaverville, NC. Sign up was from 9 to12 and bikes rolled in for 3 hours. After registration bikes rolled out shortly after 12 with a police escort though back roads of Weaverville down to the French Broad River. We rode down the river into the town of Marshall. When we hit HWY 25/70, we went back towards Weaverville to OTS where the ride began. Hot dogs and barbeque were waiting there for all the participants to eat. After we ate there were door prizes to be handed out. Once you purchased your tickets, they had 25 buckets from which you could choose which prize you wanted to try and win by putting your tickets in them. Each bucket you put your tickets in had more than one prize in it. The top prize was a 25-inch flat screen TV. There were 215 bikes at this year’s toy run, which was less than toy runs in the past, but there were more toys donated this year and $7569 was also a record for the money donated this year. Officer Andy Mace of the Weaverville Police Department is the spark plug for this event and wishes to thank everyone for their participation and support. We hope to see all of you next year. Watch The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin Calendar for next year’s date.

US Marine Corps Birthday, November 10
By: Bryan Boyett The United States Marine Corps, The Few, The Proud. Did you know that the Marine Corps is older than the USA? It’s origin dates back to November 10th, 1775, when Samuel Nicholas, by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress, started raising two battalions of “Continental Marines” at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, PA, to serve as naval infantry in the battle against the British in our Revolutionary War. Most people do not know that on the 10th of November each year, Marines around the globe celebrate the occasion with elaborate formal Birthday Balls, a tradition that began in 1925 when General John Lejeune placed a memorial plaque at Tun Tavern, then led an entourage to the Benjamin Franklin Hotel for a huge party. Two years earlier, in 1923, the Marine Barracks at Ft. Mifflin, Pennsylvania, had staged a formal dance. Since those days the ball has taken on a life of its own with other traditions such as the cake-cutting, began in 1952 by Commandant Gen. Lemuel C. Shepherd, Jr., where Marine policy states that the first piece of cake cut goes to the oldest Marine present, and the last piece is given to the youngest Marine attending. To quote the USMC Heritage Press: “Like the U.S. Marine Corps itself, the annual Birthday Ball has evolved from simple origins to the polished and professional functions of today. Nonetheless, one thing remains constant, the tenth day of November! This unique holiday for warriors is a day of camaraderie, a day to honor Corps and Country. Throughout the world on 10 November, US Marines celebrate the birth of their Corps -- the most loyal, most feared, most revered, and most professional fighting force the world has ever known.” So on this November 10th celebrate the history of the United States Marine Corps, and have a ball!
