MULTISURE:
MORE THAN JUST A COVER PLAN
Face, head, and heart of Multisure, Denton Goodford (MD) chats to us about his vision to empower others through Multisure. YOU HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE THE YEAR 2000, WHEN WAS MULTISURE CORPORATION BIRTHED AND WHAT WAS THE REASON? At the time I was practicing as an advocate. Daily I interacted with people who made no provision for unexpected legal fees, but they were spending thousands of Rands on all sorts of insurance policies and medical aid. Upon enquiring from clients as to why they did not take out legal insurance I almost always got the same answer, “I never thought I would need a lawyer.” It was also during this time, early in my legal practice, that I was introduced to the concept of network marketing. During this time, I got the idea of combining legal cover and network marketing and started what was then known as LegalSure which later became Multisure Corporation. LegalSure provided people with the opportunity to take out affordable legal cover and start a business of their own through our network marketing system. Later, on the request of clients and independent 32
consultants, we added funeral cover and currently have a few add-ons in the case of the latter product.

Our company will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in Oct this year and we do business throughout South Africa although we only have four offices currently. We hope to set up more offices in the near future and expand into the rest of Southern Africa.

There is a very fine line between network marketing and illegal pyramid schemes and even experienced business minds and highly educated people get confused and cannot distinguish the one from the other. The major difference is
