VACHERON CONSTANTIN OPENS ITS FIRST OF ITS KIND SUITE 1755 EXPERIENCE IN DUBAI Suite 1755 infuses the Maison’s incredible heritage and Middle Eastern Design in the heart of the UAE to redefine luxury and collectors experience
11
Luxury Swiss Watchmaker Vacheron Constantin steers into a new era, revealing Suite 1755, the first bespoke lounge globally. Embracing the pioneer spirit of the region, Suite 1755 redefines the codes of client experience while reconnecting with the roots of the Maison. A voyage between heritage, Culture, Art and watchmaking excellence. In partnership with award-winning Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, Suite 1755 is located on the luxurious Resort's second floor with a breathtaking seafront setting overlooking the clear blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. Shared values of distinctive design and hospitality excellence brought together the two leaders of their industries to create a highly bespoke experience. Regional Director of Vacheron Constantin Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, Christophe Ramel, comments on the Suite 1755: "We feel proud to launch in the Middle East this one of a kind salon for our connoisseurs to take a venture into our Maison in a re-defined, modern twist of our identity and heritage . In line with Vacheron Constantin motto “Do better if possible and it is always possible’, we wanted to create a unique personal space where collectors can connect and share their passion, journey through visual archives, learn further about watchmaking, and indulge in ultimate luxury". Suite 1755 offers a modern interpretation of the Maison’s Universe with an educational approach. Jean-Marc Vacheron expressed his desire to pass down savoir-faire when he signed his first apprentice in 1755. This contract is being recognized today as the date of creation of Vacheron Constantin, making it the eldest watch manufacturer in continuous operation. Suite 1755 embodies the tradition of creating bespoke and long-lasting relationships which started with Francois Constantin who used to travel the world to bond with the Maison’s clients. The light and airy space brings together all the values of the Maison to create an unparalleled experience and service, endeavoring to support the rich artistic design of Dubai. Upon entering, connoisseurs are greeted by a space filled with natural light and a stunning display of Art pieces, including a unique custom-made Vacheron Constantin Moucharabieh inspired by geometrical designs and curated furniture pieces by acclaimed Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah. The Moucharabieh with Maltese cross motif creates a focal point as a reference to Vacheron Constantin emblem and a tribute to Middle Eastern Art in its traditional form. The lounge has been designed in mind to provide collectors with tailored experiences and dedicated watchmaking masterclasses, as well as Ramadan celebrations and other cultural activities set to be announced. The spirit of Suite 1755 is to create a unique and private space where collectors connect together and with the Maison. Suite 1755 will also be a place of Heritage and History, where will be displayed the Maison’s treasures coming for the first time to the Middle East. Suite 1755 welcomes its guests as of February 8th until June 15th and is located on the second floor of the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai. The lounge is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm on invitation and reservation only. Watch collectors and enthusiasts can call 800 1755 to RSVP for an experience in Suite 1755 or through WhatsApp 0507024645 (scan QR code) courtesy of Vacheron Constantin. February, 2022

NEW CAPTURE ME CREATIONS BY AKILLIS
30
Akillis presents its new Capture Me Creations Collection – a blend of seduction and rock-chic spirit that expresses how the brand sees jewellery as the fire of life. Its consuming passion for diamonds and graphic lines comes to the fore once again in this new creative variation on the iconic Capture Me triangle motif. The brand’s iconic asymmetrical whetted teeth buck conventions, capturing love in a different guise. Shark teeth, saw blade, bear trap? The contours lend themselves to an infinite variety of fantasy-laden visions. Imbued with timeless energy, this shifting symbol of seduction exhibits a bold and modern essence: it upends the world of jewelry, exploring an original, no-frill lexicon around love.

adidas Originals Launches New Colorway of the NMD S1 Silhouette
38
Having first launched the groundbreaking NMD S1 silhouette in late 2021, this season, adidas Originals returns with a brand new colorway of the elevated sneaker – unofficially referred to by the design and product team as ‘Mint Carbon’. Dubbed S1 as an abbreviation of “Sneaker Number 1”, the silhouette provocatively evolves the NMD lineage, cutting away the noise with an aesthetic approach that pushes the boundaries of form and function. Though stripped back in nature, the NMD S1 features a number of carefully considered details. Designed for enhanced comfort, the silhouette’s upper is composed of a fully engineered seamless 3D Primeknit sock, while the quarter panels feature monomesh windows which offer increased breathability and make for a truly contemporary look.

MAX&Co. SS 22 - SHALL WE? CAPSULE WITH MARGHERITA MACCAPANI MISSONI
56
For SS22, MAX&Co. debuts the first of its new &Co.llaboration design partnerships. The project kicks off with a capsule, titled Shall We?, to be designed in partnership with Margherita Maccapani Missoni. The 35-piece capsule is a celebration of the joy of getting dressed and the ultimate downtime wardrobe. Modern, fresh and free, the collection is defined by its original styling. It’s all about putting outfits together in an unexpected way: a scarf as a top, a parka as a dress, a blazer with nothing underneath. Versatile pieces transition from holiday to home with liberated ease. Embroidered cardigans would look as good shrugged over a bikini as they would with tailored trousers; swishy sundresses are an obvious win with sandals and a basket bag but would look equally good with ankle boots and a jacket in cooler climes. Margherita Maccapani Missoni looked to the MAX&Co. ’90s archives and catalogues for inspiration. Daisies – ‘Margherita’ in Italian, a tongue-in-cheek nod to the designer’s name – are symbolic of simple pleasures and capture the spirit of the capsule. They are found across the Shall We? collection as embroideries, appliqués and prints. www.theciin.com
“Shall We? is my motto: a light and joyful approach to fashion that also captures an anything-is-possible attitude in life”. The &Co.llaboration capsules will be an ongoing part of the MAX&Co. story, where friends of the brand – from established names to emerging talents – are invited to collaborate on capsules, putting their own spin on the house’s distinct codes.

INTRODUCING TRUE OUD THE NEW HERRERA CONFIDENTIAL FRAGRANCE
70
The woody-floral formula of this Eau de Parfum is inspired by a sign of identity and belonging: the powerful accord of Oud as it is burned during Middle Eastern ceremonies or on special occasions with family and friends. The fundamental role of aromas in Arab culture is something that Carolina A. Herrera is very familiar with. She discovered it on the many trips she made with her mother to the Gulf, where she visited markets and immersed herself in the unique world of oriental perfumes. In 2017 she created the Eastern Treasures family of perfumes (part of the Herrera Confidential collection and including Gold Incense, Platinum Leather, Bronze Tonka and Gold Myrrh Absolute), inspired by Arab perfumery. These four fragrances are now joined by True Oud. It is a perfume inspired by the Carolina Herrera beauty creative director’s latest experience in the heart of the Middle East: what she smelled, felt and learned as a guest as night fell and she joined family celebrations, and all with one special ingredient. Oud.
www.theciin.com
71
“For me, there’s no more precious aroma than a personal one because it’s about you and that’s something you should want to shout from the rooftops,” explains Carolina A Herrera. She describes how the fifth perfume in the Eastern Treasures family is designed to do just that: “The idea is that, whether you’re a man or a woman, the fragrance is present at important times with your loved ones and creates a powerful sillage that will follow you wherever you go and speak about who you are and where you’re from.” Essentially, highlighting the roots that make each of us genuine and authentic. True Oud is available in Bloomingdale’s Dubai Mall and 360 Kuwait from 21st February 2022, and across all doors from 1st March 2022

Coach Introduces Fall 2022 Collection
94
Coach debuted Stuart Vevers’ Fall 2022 collection with a live runway show in New York City from “Somewhere in America,” an imagined Coach neighborhood. Broadcast live today on the house’s Instagram and YouTube channels, the show evoked familiar feelings of home and nostalgia for the shared experiences and American stories that connect us. Fall unveiled the next chapter of Vevers’ vision of American heritage, reenergized with the optimism and attitude of the next generation. Introducing quintessential Coach pieces like shearling and leather outerwear contrasted with romantic lace and crocheted dresses, pops of neon, and leather ready-to-wear inspired by leather bars of the 70s, the collection celebrated the role the house continues to play in shaping the legacy of American style. Referencing Bonnie Cashin, Coach’s first head designer, Vevers presented archival outerwear reimagined in shearling and an update of Coach’s Sling bag from 1964. In addition, Fall debuted pieces created in collaboration with graffiti artists Mint&Serf printed with the duo’s raw, expressive artworks. Held at Basketball City on New York’s Lower East Side on Valentine’s Day, the runway presentation took place within an imagined American neighborhood envisioned in the house’s heritage color palette and set against a soundtrack of 70s romance remixed with 90s grunge. Featuring set pieces designed to elicit the audience’s memories of American towns and choreographed vignettes that depicted the daily lives of the characters who live in this town, the experience referenced the stories that define our collective imagination while celebrating the way the next generation is rewriting these stories for today.
www.theciin.com
“My collections often begin with a feeling, and for Fall, the feeling was love,” said Vevers. “To express this, the collection explores tensions between romance and toughness to reinvestigate Coach heritage. I liked the idea of creating a nostalgic world somewhere in America seen through a widescreen lens, mixing the energy of today with the nostalgia for pop culture that has always inspired me.” Vevers presented his latest collection to an audience that included Megan Thee Stallion; Wisdom Kaye; Noah Beck; Tommy Dorfman; Rina Sawayama; Rickey Thompson; Angus Cloud; Amrit Kaur; Alyah Chanelle Scott; Reneé Rapp; Gavin Leatherwood; Kelvin Harrison Jr.; Quincy Brown; Elsa Majimbo; Ava Max; Charles Melton; Bob the Drag Queen; Japanese Breakfast; Jasmin Savoy Brown; Ella Purnell; SG Lewis; Quen Blackwell; Aquaria; Beaujangless; Ty Sutherland; Linux; Hari Nef; Richie Shazam; Bryanboy; Elsa Hosk; Xenia Adonts; Tina Leung; Amy Lefevre; Justine Mae Biticon; Lindsay Vrckovnik; Taylor LaShae; Young Emperors; Mia Regan; Kemio; Michi Shimizu; as well as key editors, stylists, and global influencers. The Fall 2022 show is followed this week with a series of Coach TV shorts made in collaboration with Amber Schaefer and starring Megan Thee Stallion, Rickey Thompson, Noah Beck and more of the Coach Family. Filmed on “backstage lots” inspired by nostalgic American film and television sets, the series goes inside the homes of Coach’s imagined neighborhood to offer a different viewpoint of the Fall 2022 world. Coach also collaborated with Marquee Marauders Club to create a series of limited-edition toy figurines inspired by the Coach Family and their “Coachville” characters. February, 2022

CAROLINA HERRERA FALL WINTER 2022
102
Creative Director Wes Gordon was inspired by the self-assured, strong and full-of-fire Carolina Herrera woman for his bold, heartpounding Fall Winter 2022 collection. The silhouettes this season are markedly linear and tailored, yet feature moments of exuberance like an undulating cascade, an enormous sleeve or a color reveal at a hem. Bustier shapes are sensually and precisely cut, reinterpreted as fresh separates or daring beaded fringe. An intensely saturated chroma of Crushed Berries, Anemone Blue, Fire Opal, Deep Peony, Evening Primrose Yellow and Dahlia burst on the blindingly white runway. Shatteringly-bold Fauvist Florals are arresting, taking on an exaggerated scale. Deep indigo denim, silk moirés, crisp taffetas and failles, signature Herrera cotton shirting, knits embroidered with threadwork and sequins and a lurex brocade featuring blooming irises are the fabrics that bring Gordon's sketches to life. We celebrate Miro Hermes and Francois Bouchet, head Patternmakers of the Carolina Herrera atelier, both retiring after an illustrious 22 years and 19 years respectively. We are deeply grateful for their countless contributions to the House.

Fascinated by the photographic worlds illustrating the eclectic production of Jean Verville, clients, eager for unusual creative experiences, adopt the playful approach of the architect with passion, rigor, and sensitivity. The result is an architecture that is both functional and aesthetic, offering a minimalist and playful experience distinctive of the work of Studio Jean Verville architectes. www.theciin.com

Prioritizing an architectural intervention with an assumed scenography, and falling within a strategy of minimizing its environmental impact, the project proposes the rehabilitation of a disused industrial building from the 1980s in order to establish the head office of Les Entreprises d’électricité E.G. Ltée, founded in 1951. By deploying 250 stainless steel strut channels, an imposing architectural device organizes distances and proximities, circulations, and groupings. These metal profiles, common in the electrical field, are used to fix the partitions, to support the furniture, and to camouflage all of the wiring. This profusion of elements composes an irregular frame that marks the space with vertical lines structuring the spatial delimitations. The industrial character, offered by the raw surfaces of the concrete, the shine of the stainless steel, and the translucent partitions unifying in an entity energized by accents of orange color, loads the space with an aesthetic cohesion emphasizing the re-interpretation of the open-plan office concept. Both minimalist and expressive, EG offers an environment indulgent of accumulation and excess to stimulate the participatory experience that is part of the daily life of its users.

Promoting a layout where employees can easily communicate with each other, the intervention combines private areas ensuring the need for physical distance for the protection and well-being of everyone, as well as meeting spaces, rest stations, and areas for sports and entertainment. The portion dedicated to offices, a space distributed in halflevels and proving too cramped for the needs of the company, requires a complete reconfiguration (reception, administrative offices, conference room, kitchen, employee room, and storage). The individual and collaborative workspaces, requiring a large area, are set up in a portion subtracted from the huge storage space of the building. Partially deconstructed, the existing firewall, made of concrete blocks, is transformed into an articulated railing and a staircase offering visual and physical access to this new sector located below the administrative spaces. This work area, defined by a new enclosure also in concrete blocks, constitutes a generous volume with a height of six meters below the ceiling, benefitting from level access with the immense warehouse area in order to optimize the functionality of the premises. In order to maximize the contribution of natural light, the huge garage door is replaced by a curtain wall. On the roof, the addition of six skylights, with dimensions that fit into the existing structural framework, helps provide increased natural lighting. These multiple light sources, filtered by translucent partitions, wrap the space in kinetic lighting that contributes to the theatricality of the experiment. February, 2022

BREAKFAST O’CLOCK! by travel-expert José Berrocoso
THE BEAUTY OF THE COUNTRYSIDE An English country house retreat with a luxurious spa, classical gardens and under-the-stars dining dome 116 w w w. s l h . c o m Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa, member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), is a favourite amongst locals, a honey-stoned, much-loved venue for family get-togethers, romantic rendezvous, sumptuous stays, and of course summer’s afternoons lounging by the outdoor pool. The house and grounds of this beautiful Georgian manor boast a history dating right back to the Domesday book in 1086, when it was held by Edward of Salisbury, and is believed to be named after “Bishop’s Tree”, the place where St Aldhelm’s staff grew into an Ash tree. The food served by Head Chef, Jon Los, and his team emboldens traditional flavours of guinea fowl, venison and wild vegetables – all of which most certainly will have been on the table of the hotel’s predecessors during lavish feasts – serving them in 2 AA Rosette fashion; artists have been called upon from the local community to create masterpieces, from sculpture to tapestries, paintings to abstracts, to adorn the walls and rooms of the hotel that encapsulate the age-old artistry and creativity of the area while welcoming the modern innovation of Wiltshire’s creatives; and the acreage will be maintained in all its glory, harking back to the original beauty of the eighteenth-century with areas of original flair, colour, scents and visions. The buffet breakfast lacks choice. It’s a very simple affair consisting of a handful of cereals, pastries, fruits and ready-made juices. Hot dishes, including full English breakfast, can be ordered à la carte. And for the lazy ones (or the romantic if you prefer) enjoy the toy of in-room breakfast! www.theciin.com

Bentley has introduced a Mulliner Blackline specification for its GT and GT Convertible, building on the popularity and success of the striking Blackline external treatment, which is offered as an option across the full Bentley range. By bringing a daring, black alternative to the exterior chrome-work on Bentley’s classleading Grand Tourer, Mulliner is presenting a darker side to the ultra-luxury brand’s popular four-seater, complementing the myriad options available to its clients. Created by the skilled craftsmen at Mulliner, the GT Mulliner Blackline features a host of exterior changes in comparison to the current GT and GT Convertible Mulliner derivatives, delivering an additional contemporary twist on ultimate luxury to its pinnacle GT models. The new option is in response to the increasing demand for black versions of brightware, with 38 per cent of Continental GT family orders globally now including this option.

120 For the Blackline version, all of the exterior brightware excluding the Bentley ‘Winged B’ badge turns black, as does the radiator grille bezel. In place of the satin silver upper mirror caps typical of a GT Mulliner, for the Blackline version the mirrors are finished in gloss Beluga black. The signature Mulliner matrix wing vents are also blackened, and finished with bright Mulliner branding. The radiator grille remains black with bright edges to the 3D design and the lower bumper grilles are also finished in black. The GT Mulliner Blackline models feature 22” painted black rims, with selflevelling badges featuring a chrome ring. Alternatively, a black Mulliner wheel with contrast polished ‘pockets’ will be available in the near future. The sumptuous, striking interior of the GT Mulliner Blackline remains unchanged from the existing Mulliner edition, allowing customers to enjoy any colour combination they choose as part of Mulliner’s limitless offering, or one of eight recommended three-colour combinations, using Bentley’s wide palette of hides and threads. As part of the standard Mulliner Driving Specification, the interior incorporates Bentley’s unique “Diamond in Diamond” quilting for the seats, doors and rear quarter panels, featuring both contrast and accent stitching running through the diamond layout. With almost 400,000 stitches in the cabin of each car, each diamond contains exactly 712 individual stitches, all precisely aligned to point to the centre of the diamond it creates. A true mark of unrivalled automotive craftsmanship. Depending on region, customers are able to choose between Bentley’s now iconic 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 delivering 635 PS (626 bhp), or the dynamic 4.0-litre V8, which offers 550 PS (542 bhp), both of which provide grand touring range with the effortless performance expected of a pinnacle Grand Tourer. The addition of the Blackline edition to the Mulliner range of GT models reinforces Bentley’s position as the world’s leading manufacturer of luxury sporting Grand Tourers, whilst offering bespoke solutions for the most discerning customers who want cars as unique as their own personalities. In short, a contemporary twist on the world’s ultimate luxury coupé.

AMANJENA
122
Inspired by the rose-hued buildings of old Marrakech, palatial Amanjena is close to the fabled Red City, set in its own expanse of gardens and grand open spaces. Shaded courtyards with fountains lead to the central bassin that nourishes the gardens in which spacious standalone guest pavilions and maisons rest, all with private gardens and many with private pools. Views stretch across the olive groves and palms of the oasis, extending to the High Atlas Mountains on the horizon.

Marrakech is known as the Red City, and Amanjena is made from the same clay visible in many other structures throughout the town. It is a stylized interpretation of a traditional Moroccan palace with long passageways, marble fountains filled with rose petals, a large stone courtyard and walled villas laid out the same way that sultans designed their palaces. The one knock on Amanjena: It’s in the middle of nowhere. Amanjena’s exceptionally appointed Pavilions and Maison are cool, elegant dwelling with Berber carpets scattered over zellij-tiled floors and high-ceilings for an opulent feel. Away from the bustle of the fabled red city of Marrakech, the sound of running water in fountains soothes while chaise longues and candle lanterns lend classic Moroccan ambience. Several also offer private heated pools. Epic is the only word to describe Tuttle’s extraordinary design, which is modelled on Ahmed al-Mansour’s now ruined palace, el-Badi (the Incomparable). Enter through a lobby of soaring pink columns, past scalloped marble fountains filled with petals, and out into the central courtyard where a jade bassin (irrigation pool) sits beneath the desert sky. Chiffon curtains float on the breeze while shaded walkways disappear into the distance, drawing you on towards a secluded pool courtyard and down long avenues beside trickling water channels. High-walled villas screen some of Marrakech’s most modest guests. It is surreally beautiful and ethereally quiet, which some will find blissful, while others may find eerie. Savour authentic local dishes at Amanjena’s Moroccan Restaurant. Local musicians provide the soundtrack to dining in the retaurant’s serene courtyard every evening, a candlelit fountain at its heart. Berber culinary traditions and Moorish, Andalusian and Middle Eastern influencers meet on the all-day menu, a kaleidoscope of flavours tre to the melting-pot cuisine of Morocco.

EXPERIENCES A varied landscape of rugged snow-capped mountains, parched deser dunes and winding coastline, Morocco has some of North Africa’s most diverse geography, all accesible from Amanjera. The ancient city of Marrakech radiates from its 12th-century medina, a red-walled former fortress crisscrossed by narrow lanes. Surrounding the city, the Palmeraie is an unexpectedly lush oasis that in turn gives way to the desert landscape, dotted with villages where little has changed for hundreds of years. www.theciin.com

WELNESS Dedicated to personal wellness, Amanjena’s spa facilites are serene and timeless, designed to calm, soothe and rejuvenate while expert therapists work on restoring optimal wellbeing. Treatments include massages, facial scrubs and wraps, as well as manicures and pedicures. Aman was founded in 1988 with the vision of building a collection of intimate retreats with the unassuming, warm hospitality of a gracious private home. The first, Amanpuri (place of peace) in Phuket, Thailand, introduced the concept and, since then, Aman has grown to encompass 39 exquisitely serene hotels and resorts in 22 destinations across the world. The next Aman to open will be Aman New York (2020). The introduction of Aman Skincare in 2018 continued the holistic journey beyond the perimeters of Aman’s havens. Offering a soothing journey to a place of beautifully scented repose and respite, Aman Skincare represents the spirit of Aman in a bottle. Cementing Aman’s commitment to providing guests with insightful and unique cultural experiences, Atma, launched in 2019, curates one-off events that are inspired by Aman destinations and designed to connect mind, body and spirit.

“Cadillac has a long history of performance success on and off the track which drives excitement for our fans and customers,” said Rory Harvey, vice president of Cadillac. “That excitement was never more evident than last year when we saw extraordinary demand for the V-Series Blackwings right after they were revealed.” Kristian Aquilina, Managing Director, Cadillac International Operations and Cadillac Middle East: “Cadillac is truly honoring its racing pedigree while starting a new era in that space. Following the launch of V-Series Blackwings, marked with a record set by the young Emirati champion Amna Al Qubaisi, and the introduction of the Escalade V-Series, we can’t wait to see the GTP race car’s debut and own the track.” Cadillac’s commitment to performance is embodied in the V-Series portfolio by incorporating technologies learned on the track, into performance cars for the road.
