This week's guide is a beautiful enlightenment on the human breath.
"If you have never pondered the magnificence in the architecture of the human form, you need only lose yourself momentarily in the rhythmic oscillation of your breath. I invite you to stay cognitively attuned as you take your next breath. Notice how you tighten your diaphragm (a strong sheet of muscle that divides the chest from the abdomen) and relax the muscles within the walls of your chest. This effort alone consumes roughly 3 percent of your metabolic energy at rest, all in order to pull the equivalent volume of a grapefruit into your lungs. Trillions of air molecules are now swimming within your chest like bees in a hive. Only a few of them, the oxygens, are what your body craves." - Michelle Adams
We could all do with reading this one. The breath seems so simple and yet it is beautifully complex. It is at the root of us. It exists in everything we do.
