Natalie and Rand met when they lived in the same neighborhood during middle school. They quickly became friends, and after four years Rand got up the courage to ask

Natalie on their first date. The rest is literally history, and they’ve been in love ever since (although it took Natalie longer than Rand to come to that realization). The couple graduated from LU in the spring of 2017 and plan on getting married in the late spring of 2018. The day of Rand’s proposal was centered around the birthday of the couple’s friend. “The day was planned entirely with birthday celebrations for my friend, Carrie. My other friend, Christina, and I took her to get her favorite breakfast, went to get our nails done, and went shopping. Our final stop was going to be at Cole Mountain because she wanted to take pictures with us alongside the beautiful scenery in the background,” reminisced Natalie. The ladies got dressed and ready for their photo session, but when they arrived at the top of the mountain, there was Rand standing off in the distance. Natalie recalled, “He had pictures hung, tiki torches lit, and ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ playing in the background.” How romantic! Rand walked to Natalie and started to explain how he loved her and how he could not live without her. “He talked for a long time, and I honestly do not remember everything that he said because I was so

When it comes to planning a bridal shower, gathering inspiration can be fairly easy if you do a little sleuthing. Spencer, the bride-to-be, has a heart for missions work, and her shower included many of her favorite things such as Persian and Moroccan motifs, handcrafted wood and ceramic pieces. She stated, “The girls blew me away - they knew all of my favorite things, scoured my Pinterest boards, and raided my home to make the most ethereal day of celebration I could have ever asked for!” Why the international flair? Well, Spencer and her fiance, Brennan, met in college due to their mutual interest in missions work. “Brennan and I began to spend more time together and we realized that our hearts for the Lord, our passions and dreams were distinctly similar. It did not take long for us to realize that the Lord had been orchestrating our lives for each other the whole time,” Spencer explained. And, of course, their future plans involve missions work both in Lynchburg and abroad. The bridal celebration took place on the porch of a friend’s home, and Spencer was showered with love by some of her favorite people, who wrote her heartfelt notes, posed for photographs and bathed Spencer in prayer. She recalled, “The whole day was so special and magical. It looked like it was out of a magazine and it held such significance to my heart. I could not have asked for a more perfect bridal shower celebration!”

BRIDAL SHOWER GAME IDEA One of the most hilarious moments was a fun game that we played. Jamie (a friend) snuck over and recorded Brennan answering questions about himself, our dreams, and our relationship. The girls gave me a mason jar full of oversized gum balls and they asked me the same questions that Jamie asked Brennan. The objective was to answer the exact same way that Brennan did to each question. If I got any of the questions wrong, I had to stuff a gum ball into my mouth and keep it there (and continue talking with all the gum balls in my mouth). Thankfully I only got a few of the questions wrong, but that mouthful of five gum balls was way too much! The game was funny and light but also so beautiful because it showed truly how unified Brennan and I are. I was surprised by the creativity of this game - I loved it!

Referred to as “America’s Sweetheart” and “the girl with the curls,” the silent film star Mary Pickford was known for her theatrics along with her heart, which included a love for animals. In fact, a 1916 photo portrays the Academy Award winning actress with a lovely kitten perched upon her shoulder. Drawing inspiration from Mary, this 1920s bride is getting ready to begin her meowage, including play with her beloved (and active) brood of kittens. From writing a sweet note to her love to sipping a flavorful Meowmosa, she is able to relax and reflect while savoring each moment before her big day begins. Not to be outdone, a lovely bouquet of blush and pink accompanied the note received from her groom. With purrfectly curled hair, a stunning gown and just the right amount of lip-gloss, this bride-to-be was ready to say “I mew” with her classic and timeless look.

Paul & Shar A VIEW INTO LYNCHBURG When it comes to planning, some brides have ages to arrange the perfect day, but Paul and Shar had only three-and-a-half months to plan theirs. “I personally loved this, because it forced me to land the plane on decisions and not belabor over menial details that tend to drive the bride crazy (and honestly...details most people don’t even notice or remember),” Shar said of the timeframe for their Lynchburg wedding. The setting was important for the couple. “I was drawn to downtown because it looks very cinematic and rustic,” Shar reminisced, “There’s a certain unfinished charm about it all.” The city itself and some recognizable areas were incorporated into stunning portraits of the newlyweds. The couple took time both before and during the reception to sneak away with their photographer. “Because we were downtown, a lot of things are close together, so it was easy to walk to all of the locations. It also helped that I had on wedges and not stilettos,” recalled Shar. It’s amazing that they were able to hit so many landmarks on their wedding day, which created a lovely glimpse into the Hill City.

Wedding Planning Advice Narrow down the top three things that are most important to you, and plan with those things in mind. Also, the most important thing is that you and your fiancĂŠ get married; the other bells and whistles are just added bonuses.

Favorite Wedding Day Moment When the doors opened for me to walk down the aisle, the first thing I saw was the cross and the second thing I saw was my husband. I fought back tears as God reminded me of the deep love and affection He has for me. I am reminded of that love in the way my husband loves and sacrifices for me. Our wedding day stirred my affections for Jesus in ways I never imaged it would. 21

Luke & Michelle A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING ON A BUDGET When it comes to weddings, talking about budget can be deflating, right? After all, with inspiration from Pinterest and celebrity weddings, it’s easy to dream. Yet adhering to a budget can make grand ideas seem out of reach. Luke and Michelle met at a local coffee shop where Michelle was employed. “One day, I came into work and there was a cute guy sitting at one of the tables. I finally thought of a way I could say ‘hello’ and the story could not have ended better,” she reminisces.

This couple planned their wedding on a budget and prioritized what was important. Michelle offers, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Photography was on the top of my list...when thinking of the wedding day, photos were important to me because it captured the teary smiles during the precious moments and the expressions that I may not have been able to see, but now get to cherish. Photos last a lifetime, I love that I am able to look back and remember every sweet moment of the best day ever.â&#x20AC;? What sage advice to invest in something that lasts well beyond the wedding day!

Planning a wedding was a little challenging for Michelle due to the fact that Luke was deployed, so she relied on family and her wedding planner to help with decision making. Some may think it’s counterintuitive to hire someone to help plan and manage the wedding if you have a strict budget, but often they can save you money and headaches in the long run. “Our wedding planner helped me tremendously because she is a professional who was emotionally disconnected from the wedding and was able to provide reason and stability during the ‘freak out’ moments of planning a wedding on a budget, “ advises Michelle. “She was able to keep me on track in regards to timeline and budget while offering creative solutions to problems that arose.” Despite the need to keep track of finances, Luke and Michelle had an absolutely lovely day, and it showed. “Planning a wedding on a budget can call for sacrifice at times because it requires letting go of some items that ‘typical’ weddings have. However, our wedding day genuinely reflected who we are and the relationship that we have because we were so selective - less was really more,” says Michelle. Working within a budget gave Michelle and Luke a stunning, memorable day that was a perfect celebration of their love.
