Cyber attack on Port of Nagoya

Japan’s largest port, the Port of Nagoya, faced a crippling cyber attack suspected to be caused by the LockBit ransomware group. Cargo operations were paralyzed, and authorities initiated a thorough police investigation.

The Japan Harbor and Transportation Association reported a system failure that prevented container movement. The Harbor Transport Association aims to restore the system and resume container operations.

The attack affected nearly 10% of Japan’s trade volume and disrupted Toyota Motor Corporation’s car exports. The ransomware message received by the authorities indicated a demand for system recovery, confirming a coordinated cyber attack by LockBit.
