Chinese hackers attack the US government

Chinese hackers breached the US government using a Microsoft product vulnerability, gaining access to officials’ email accounts from multiple US agencies dealing with China.

The State Department discovered the cyber attack just before Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Beijing in mid-June.

The hackers believed to have ties to China, utilized phishing websites to execute remote code to access sensitive data from various government organizations.

Cyber attack on Bidhannagar City Police

Bidhannagar City Police’s official Facebook page, marked with a blue tick, was hacked by hackers for several hours from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

The attack was noticed when the cover and display pictures were changed into unrelated content. The police regained control after contacting Meta executives.

The cyber cell’s lapse was identified, where an admin logged in from an insecure Android device and clicked on a malicious link, giving hackers control. Fortunately, no inappropriate content was posted, and the page was fixed with Facebook’s assistance.
