JACK BENNETT
LAUNCHES SEASON 36 WITH SUPERB WIN
Season 36 of Tuesday Night Racing couldn’t have arrived soon enough with a record number of riders on the start line and a bumper crowd on hand
to witness a great nights racing. Welcome to the 22 riders new to Tuesday
Night Heffron, a few old faces returning and of course the season after season regulars and Club volunteers who keep the machine rolling.
Never complain about an overcast evening at Heffron with a 30kph southerly - unless you’re a photographer. The conditions were perfect for fast and
incident free racing which saw A grade latch onto the back of B grade with 4 laps to go.
B1 and B grade had a staggered start with the stronger B1 group closing the gap early in the race and despite a 50 strong bunch still no one could work out which side the wind was on down the straight.
C grade raced well with many of the new riders leading the way but when A
grade roared through them with 2 laps left all eyes were on the peachy tones of ZCC skinsuits as fought to deliver Jack Bennett to the straight. ACA rider
Michael Potter had other ideas and everyone scrambled as he lead out early into the southerly.
The move almost paid off but the timing of Bennett’s renowned Heffron sprint delivered him perfectly for a popular win. Scotty Law was flying his L39ION of LA colours at Heffron for the first time and was in the mix for 3rd. Tom
Bolton is never off the pace in a sprint and nailed 4th while Leo Yip transferred his recent Saturday form for a top 5.
B grade honours went to the Schofield twins with bro Jayden nudging Luke for the B grade win and an impressive 10th overall – underlining the fact they’re both ready for the step up to A grade next week.
Under 17 Heffron ‘veteran’ Brayden Bloch impressed again winning C grade
in front of last season’s C grade Series winner Will Heffernan and along with Heffron newbie Reid Daish can look forward to their B grade debuts next week.
Another great turnout in the women’s field with Gina Ricardo as always riding impressively in B grade to be first women home
