JACK BENNETT AND NICOLE WILSON SCORE IMPRESSIVE DOUBLES
Jack Bennett may have doubled up from his impressive win last
week to win Week 2 but it was Nicole Wilson’s C grade and Womens double which stood out the most on another action packed night of racing.
Sunny skies with relatively light 30kph NE winds welcomed a
massive turnout of 130+ riders and once again Strava lap times recorded 2.30min laps at an average of 47kph.
At that pace A grade had eaten into the B1 grade advantage after 9
laps and 2 laps later had ripped through the rest of B grade with the hunt now on for C grade who were still holding on to a slim margin. Belllap and C grade still had a sniff of this week Champion System jackpot but by the pimple the ZCC sprint train were in full lead out mode for Jack Bennett. D’Arcy Ellerm Norton proved he’s coming
back to form as he lead early but Jack Bennett once again was too smart and too quick as he held off a fast finishing Tom Bolton and
Scott Law. Jono Cridland flashed across the line for fourth ion front of Brad Mills
Heffron newbie Malachi Covington proved he has the race ability to ride a higher grade when he rode a great race to win B grade just
denying Nic Coster by a half wheel with both riders finishing in the
top 15. Multi sport athlete Clint Kimmins rode his best Tuesday night race to get 3rdin B grade which was superb result considering only 17 B grade riders from 60 starters made it to the finish.
The ride of the night must go to Nicole Wilson who not only outsmarted and outsprinted the 8 strong women’s field but the entire C grade field to claim the first ever Tuesday Night Heffron Womens/C grade double. Ben Galstonbury had to settle for 2nd in C grade and Eline
Smit proved the strength of the women’s field by getting 3rd overall.
